i think heaven is a joke. as i sit above the clouds, i see nothing but that. clouds, not even the earth below

am i meant to be up here? and what of you, dad? where are you? surely there is nothing up here but the clouds and after that, an endless nothing, and all the stars it holds

maybe you aren’t in the clouds, maybe you went one step further and settled on a comet, maybe you settled nowhere at all. maybe you are still at home, awaiting my return from the clouds where i do not belong

i see you in everything all the time. i count your breaths when the wind blows, i see you in the sky when it rains

i am up here, above the rain. you are not here. i do not know where you are anymore, yet i hear your heartbeat in my own and see your eyes staring into mine in the mirror.

when i come down from the clouds, will you be waiting on the ground for me or have i lost you to the horizon for the last time?

if i cried from above the clouds, does that count as rain? and would i see you again if it did?

I finally got around to something I’ve been meaning to do for at least ten years. I took a pair of boots I really liked that had a hole in the sole on the left one to a repair shop. They should be ready on Tuesday and I’m stoked. 

In other boot news I wore my “pain and suffering” boots yesterday when I drove into Austin to get my hair did/dyed. I bought them in the late 80s at Cadillac Jack’s, a resale boot shop, and the owner told me then that they were from the 1960s. I hadn’t worn them in a while and it made me happy. They don’t cause pain, nor suffering; they’re the ending to an epic dog bite saga.
