#i added venti because how could i not? lol

I have a lot of really small headcanons about the concept of “elemental resonance” I keep incorporating into my genshin fics whenever I write them bc I love using the concept that the characters can pick up on other people who wield elemental power’s energy, and the fact elements can react or resonate with each other as a really small way to give insight into how a character feels about things or people around them

I enjoy imagining and using that as almost like another kind of “body language” or mode of communication. I like using it to give characters more defined presences and personalities especially with how they’re viewed through an external POV

Things of this nature I’ve kind of thought about/written before include:

Wanderer will describe the unusually strong elemental power radiating off of Archon characters he’s around as “unpleasant” and tell the reader he doesn’t like being around gods because they all radiate this oppressive and uncomfortable energy that makes him feel very defensive…but he noticeably doesn’t seem to mind Nahida’s elemental energy despite being very aware of it and describes it in a much more pleasant way because He Likes Her

In contrast a lot of people find Wanderer’s Anemo “jarringly sharp like storm gales” or just really odd/confusing and potential sinister(????) but then Nahida just describes it as like, gentle and very nice even if it’s a bit wild sometimes :) (this would confuse everyone if she told them this)

Lynette and Freminet can tell when Lyney gets upset/anxious, especially over them, because his Vision that gives him elemental power came from his ambition to protect his loved ones, and they would describe him being worried as like, a flickering and more fast paced sort of Pyro energy radiating from him that feels very directed towards them specifically

Venti tends to passively reach out and “resonate” with a lot of elements around him, especially with people he likes or shares his element with, as sort of a way of going hello! I see you! Jean and Xiao describe his Anemo energy as very like, reassuring/comforting/makes them feel more centered (he usually does this when they seem stressed out), while a lot of the Mondstadt characters don’t recognize it’s coming from him and just feel more relaxed/comfortable/“at home” (or nostalgic for Mondstadt if they aren’t there at the moment)

Kaeya describes a lot of the pyro characters he’s friends with (Klee, Amber, etc) as very warm and nostalgic—he doesn’t say it directly but the implication is it reminds him of Diluc when they were younger. In present day he describes Diluc’s energy as “subdued heat” towards everyone else but “smolderingly cold for a fire” when Diluc’s attention is on him because their relationship is in great condition ❤️

Characters tend to find being able to resonate with the energy of people they’re close with very comforting (it’s like a hug or leaning on someone for support basically). They usually note it’s especially reassuring if it’s done with someone of the same element. They usually do this pretty deliberately but u can also have characters sort of reaching out to their loved ones more quietly if they don’t like being very emotionally open (lol)

^^ so Tighnari usually reaches out with his Dendro passively for Collei to “lean on” if he can tell she isn’t doing well and wants to like, very intuitively reassure her. Kaveh and Al Haitham both pretend they never do this but they are regularly both “checking in on each other” whenever they’re in proximity as sort of a like “are you there? Oh hi you’re here. Okay nice”

I could go on about this for a while with like every character but I find it so fun. I really love subtle characterization or adding more personalized descriptions to characters beyond just like purely physical appearance jducjfjd

DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE A TYPE OF CHARACTER YOU GRAVITATE TOWARDS? i'm sure i probably do, but i wouldn't be able to put my finger on it myself. i think the process that happens for me when it comes to muses is that i find characters with certain aspects that i find interesting and would like to explore, then i learn to write them. and very rarely a character will just hit me over the head with a steel chair (yuri and est namely for muses i have/had in toa haha)

WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE YOU ENJOY WRITING THE MOST? i love exploring a variety of relationship dynamics, though antagonistic relationships and found family in particular are my favorites (paw against the glass for the ashen wolves..) and i like writing the disparity between what a character thinks internally versus what they would actually express externally. more generally, i really enjoy writing combat!

FAVORITE TOA-RELATED MEMORY. i think any silly rng moments with the dice. two that come to mind immediately are est & sirius whiffing their attacks against one another in arena and, far more recently, waking up to yuri immediately getting bodied in team zofia. those made me laugh a lot haha

I know this is way beyond Genshin’s ability and also what I assume is their budget for a single event, but if I were doing Windblume 2, I would do it something like this: 

Since the basis of the story is the friendship between witches, it would make sense to create a parallel in the modern day with the playable cast. So 4 people who should fit the descriptors, plus one whom they are wishing well when she departs for her homeland. 

So I would have Collei as the J stand in, being the one who departs at the end of Windblume, but everyone assures her that they’ll still be friends. 

Sucrose would obviously be one of the 4 friends, and her matching to Rhinedottir is actually pretty good, since they are both alchemists. You could also add some more focus on the Albedo connection, since I think his mentorship of Sucrose is also very cute. 

That leaves “doesn’t lie,” “guide who doesn’t get lost” and “unending legend.” Mona is the obvious one for “guide” since her teacher was the previous one, and you could run Klee as the A stand in, since she’s Alice’s daughter and also doesn’t lie lol. Which would leave the M stand in. It would be nice if we had a writer in the female Mond cast, but I think the closest might be Fischl. Something like Scarlett approaching Mona because they’re both witches’ students, and Mona reluctantly adding Klee and Fischl to the group (since she’s friends with Fischl)? 

Then the 4 of them would spend the event becoming friends with Collei, guided by Scarlett, who takes the opportunity to recreate that tea party for her own reasons. 

It would be nice if Collei had some kind of dilemma to give the story some focus... the simplest I can think of is her being offered the choice of staying in Mondstadt. Maybe with the explanation that previously she was in Sumeru in hopes of finding an actual cure for Eleazar, but now she’s better and since she likes Amber so much and she’s made more friends, what if she stayed there? But ultimately Collei chooses to “return to her hometown” and live with her family (Cyno and Tighnari). 

Doesn’t have to be like this, but just as a general idea. 

As for how it starts... something like, Amber having to tell Collei she can’t hang out with her because she has a special assignment from Jean: a foreigner has been approaching girls, asking them “do you want to become a witch?” Amber is tasked with finding this person and finding out their intentions. It might seem innocuous, but we can find out from Jean that this strange foreigner (Scarlett) also asked after “a bard with the form of a youth, wearing a cecilia flower” aka Venti. A Snezhnayan looking for their archon is suspicious at best. 

So Collei is left at loose ends and makes some new friends instead. And when Scarlett approaches them, it becomes a chance to show Amber how capable Collei is now. 

Of course, Scarlett just wants to have girls help her recreate the tea party. Although the event we got made the whole thing pointless, I do think there’s a certain charm in a group of friends following a strange ritual to create a special memory, even if there is no deeper meaning to it. Especially if we can get stuff like Fischl being into it, while Mona tries to be skeptical and levelheaded, and Sucrose is switching between the two. She’s normally a scientist, but she wants to create a fairy wonderland, so she’s got a whimsical side too...

We’d lose out on Timaeus’s love story, but I think it could be included as a separate sub-quest. I actually also liked the idea of the anecdotes in Lantern Rite ‘21. The problem is that we got errands for NPCs we had no chance to know yet and whom we wouldn’t care about. It’s different if it’s someone we’ve seen a lot. 

Well, this is just imagining things, because I wish Mond could have had a better event...

I also wanted to hear ventis thoughts in more detailed but ngl. I think it's pretty neat that xvn would like to keep their relationship a secret but only venti is the one who can while xiao's affection is apparent to anyone who knows him because he is an open book. Even if he tried he can't hide it. but I also wanted to know what venti thinks of music :( I had hoped that it would be like irodori where eh doesn't say much but just watches,,, is there in the background while giving inputs once in a blue moon

venti could go to an improv comedy club and absolutely sweep the competition; that man KNOWS how to play along and do so with SUBTLETY. probably bc he spends most of his waking life playing pretend and has done so for centuries, but then again, zhongli has also walked amongst mortals, who see him n go, "it couldn't be... is it??" so he passes with juuuust enough grace to leave them wondering lol. venti absolutely the best out of the three tho. xiao's acting skills found dead in a ditch lmao

OH but smth else i did remember is that i found it interesting that zhongli chose to call xiao by alatus. i know a lot of people tend to subscribe to the hc that alatus is xiao's true name (it's a pretty strongly supported hc that i refuse to subscribe to, personally) n that his weakness is his true name (also pretty supported by the text in canon n a hc i do subscribe to), so i find it interesting that, if alatus is xiao's true name (and secret weakness), zhongli would address him by such. one could say it's just his way of being more polite to someone who served in the archon war, but like idk. i just find it a bit odd and worth noting

a while back i was chillin w/my friends n making one of those alignment charts that's like "distinguished/functional/disaster" vs. "gay/bi/lesbian" (except we also added ace/pan/straight for a bit more nuance) n it was like "well, we have charas w/straight vibes from mond, inazuma, and sumeru. what abt liyue? do any of the liyue characters have straight vibes?" and the answer was no. liyue gay as hell.

and yes i DID see the beiguang over on yujing terrace!!! i was like "omg beiguangs" n i talked to them n i was like "is... is the chess a metaphor for sex???" bc WHAT WAS THAT?? HELLO???? last lantern rite was very much their wedding and so this year they get to sit back n be the stable established couple

also i can't believe hu tao met xiao's bf n then instantly went, "we will have an immortal pact of mischief, a solemn vow of fun written in silly poetics" she knows what she's doing. she knows EXACTLY who venti is; those dots were hardly even disconnected in her head.

i can absolutely see xv keeping their relationship a secret just bc xiao is a very private character, n venti would respect that. it's just so funny to see them fail bc xiao has difficulty maintaining a separation btwn his public n private lives. ofc he doesn't tell anyone if they don't ask, and he never drops any hints that would prompt people to ask normally, but in this particular type of situation where he has to explain himself and his relationship to someone, he's probably so unused to having a public social life that he has absolutely zero skills when it comes to answering questions truthfully, but with respect to his own privacy.

venti opinion on music.... that would've been nice to see :c though i don't think we asked xiao for his opinion either! hmm hmm... i wonder if they keep xiao's character development behind the ephemeral event quests specifically bc they're ephemeral n there's (maybe) gay shit going on behind the scenes.

but also omg so it WASN'T just my computer choking from the constant abuse i make it suffer venti was fluttering his lashes or smth at xiao. i'd personally interpret it as ~smug flirtations~ where he's just like, "ah, yes, how is xiao going to explain me away? :3" but who knows!!! i have brainworms lol

Reviewing the Mondstadt Arc of Genshin Impact

A slightly more formal collection of my thoughts on the first archon quest, Prologue: The Outlander Who Caught the Wind. 

I thought it was a really nice introduction to the world of the game, from the landscape to the story themes. Nothing says ‘open world’ like vast plains, rolling hills, and cliff sides. The fact that the first nation you visit values freedom and personal choice also supports the gameplay. You’re free to go where you wish over a fairly large area. It’s nothing like a lot of rpgs have been in modern times, where you’re hamstringed into completing the story and physically incapable of leaving a small area until you meet the objective.

It’s suitable that they start you off with the wind element. I just really love the anemo aesthetic and how it works into the storyline (anemo also loves me back if you’ve seen my posts on my gacha luck lol...).

Unlike another open world rpg I’ve played, it also packs in a lot of interesting lore and npcs that reinforce the themes of this region. I was surprised by the amount of npcs you can speak to, and how they all have a few dialogue branches to exhaust before you’ve heard it all. They made the world feel more lived in. I especially liked how you get other dialogue options for some of them when you progress with the Stormterror story.

The first cast of characters we get was also fun. I don’t typically like her character archetype, but genki girl Amber won my heart over. Or maybe it’s because she’s so helpful exploring the world...? Nah, I love Amber’s friendship with you. I also adored her story quest with the story about the “first birds to fly in this world”.

The storybook segments, voiced and animated, were also top notch and really added to the vibes, especially once you formally meet Venti and learn he’s 1) the famous bard who recently showed up, and 2) actually the archon of the region. I...I love Venti. He’s such a brat, his carefree nature is absolutely hilarious but also he’s very self-aware and that makes for a great contrast.

It was also sweet seeing how much he actually means to the people of his region, though he’s technically not the strongest since it doesn’t scale based on faith in this world. They have an interesting dynamic.

I did like the final question posed in the conclusion to the Dvalin/Stormterror arc: is freedom demanded of you by a god truly freedom? I swear, it’s such a good line, it could have come from a novel. Dvalin implies Venti could have ordered him to stop attacking the city, but did not. It was sweet when they finally reunited as old friends flying in the sky together.

And, finally, I would have been more confused in the last part when Venti explains what an “allogene” is...if I wasn’t playing in Japanese because it’s apparently a title reference! “Genshin” haha. Makes a lot more sense now.

I’ll always look back on this one fondly...It was such a good opening to the game!

idol au anon inspired me to send some of my own hcs so here we go~

Xiao is definitely a producer imo! I don’t see him as someone who would want to be up and performing, however he’s probably very popular and sought after in the industry. I think he’d be signed with one of the biggest companies and probably work with really famous groups.

Scara is a soloist (maybe he was in a group but split from them) and has probably had his fair share of scandals in his career due to his attitude and general personality, but I also believe he has his way of getting out of it, mostly because it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t give a damn about what the media thinks. He believes that they should focus on his music (which is top tier btw) rather than him as a person. He doesn’t use this as an excuse to be horrible, though, and I can definitely see him as being the type to take situations on by himself rather than letting the company deal with it. He probably also defends fans and other idols if needed (like if they’re swarmed by an aggressive crowd or being attacked online) and has definitely called out sasaengs on multiple occasions. Another hc is that he takes great pride in producing his own music and concepts so he gets as little help as possible.

Tbh i don’t really see Zhongli being an idol, but he could be the leader of a group. He’d probably be the lead vocalist if that was the case. Otherwise, he could be a manager or even the CEO of a company. Maybe the one Xiao works for?

Childe is DEFINITELY an idol in a group. Often in the center, he’d probably be a vocalist as well and/or main dancer. He’s really popular as well as he interacts with fans all the time and always knows how to create the right mood for whichever song they’re performing. He’s just got the natural charisma for it. I also see him as being an actor on the side. However, he’s also one of the idols where a lot of fans believe that he puts on an front a lot.

Maybe I should actually start writing instead of sending asks all the time whoops...

I’ve seen a few modern au concepts where Xiao is a gamer or a twitch streamer. But as an idol I definitely agree with what you wrote. There’s no way he’d get up on a stage and perform in front of so many people. But he does have talent! I think he’d compose a lot of instrumentals for popular bands and groups. He’s probably done some solo work in the past, such as releasing music that captures his edgy aesthetic. If you’ve heard Takayan’s music and lyrics, that might be a genre he typically enjoys. Maybe even the aesthetic that Corpse Husband’s music has.

Scaramouche would definitely love working alone with little to no help at all! He tends to get a lot of fans because of his appearance and music style. Some even fall for his personality, too. But he’s mainly focused on putting out music that he enjoys making. He doesn’t care about the public’s opinion of him, but he does care about his fans. Scaramouche is often very vocal of his disapproval of stans or creepy sasaengs, saying that they can enjoy his music and his personality as an artist but he draws the line when they tweet strange things at him or try to find personal information about him.

I think Scaramouche also puts out some edgy music, too! But it’s nowhere near as edgy or solemn as Xiao’s music. He strikes me as the type who likes to play around with instrumentals a lot and will sometimes release an instrumental he likes, as he doesn’t want to ruin it with lyrics. His lyrics tend to be very meaningful when you look beyond the ‘teenage angst’ and pity parties; and as a result of that his fans like to find the hidden meanings in his lyrics (and occasionally in his PVs if he ends up doing one to go along with a song).

Zhongli is like the emergency member who’ll provide sounds or a few quick chords if the group is having trouble thinking. But I see him as being a manager for one of those idol groups; maybe he often works alongside Xiao, who tends to be put in charge as a spare manager in case one of the idols gets into a scandal. Sometimes Xiao will watch them as a bodyguard (or just moral support) to make sure they don’t stir up more trouble. Looking at Venti ahem.

Speaking of Venti, he is definitely an idol. Either he works with a group or he does it solo. His music genre is usually light and airy, always happy and sweet. Although if you strain to hear specific chord progressions you’ll find that the melody is often on the verge of becoming melancholic. His lyrics are also oddly sentimental, too, and that causes his fans to get emotional when he sings certain songs over a happy beat. Due to the fact that Venti likes to drink, he often gets caught by tabloids and fans when he tries to be sneaky. This leads to a strict scolding from his manager and he usually winds up in Xiao’s company as a result. The two of them seem like strangers at first, due to Xiao’s inability to socialize, but eventually they bond over their mutual love of music.

Childe does have the makings of a perfect idol: attractive face and body, confidence and charisma, and the brightest smile the world’s ever seen. He knows he’s got all of these assets and he uses them to their fullest potential. If he wasn’t an actor, I could see him as a model for specific clothing lines or other brands. Sometimes you’ll see him promote the newest luxury brand and sometimes he’ll be promoting something as simple as toothpaste. Either way, his fans eat it up every time. As a result of his outgoing personality and openness with his fans, he tends to get a lot of stalkers. He’s had to move many times because of this and has even had to stay overnight at his company’s studio because of the sasaengs.

Also, if Childe were an actor on the side I feel like he’d do a lot of comedy skits (think of SNL). I can see him replying to fans on his social media pages and he’s even followed some fan sites because he loves to see them keep up with facts and information about him. He might even correct them if there’s an error, just to avoid any misunderstandings between fans. He’s also the type of idol who doesn’t shy away from the camera, even if it’s sudden. You’ll never catch him off guard because he’s always ready to smile and pose for the paparazzi. Along with this, Childe always welcomes his fans to approach him in public if they recognize him. He loves to take selfies and give out hugs to his fans. If you bring a pen and a sheet of paper, he’ll even sign it for you!

and like-- god im just imagining this specific scenario where you recreate the amongus maps in ur teapot so you guys could play irl and albedo or tubby develops a teapot leisure device specifically for it so you guys could ACTUALLY FOR REAL PLAY AMONG US IRL IN THE TEAPOT

everyones wearing the suits and they got the tablets with the report button and emergency meeting buttons and everything, and albedo figures out how to stream it to the rest of Teyvat-- with everyones different povs and things and everyones just rooting for everyone and ISERHLgFSLERHJkG

but yeah. so, imagine this--

this game of among us is composed of the knights and also Venti. So thats Diluc, Kaeya, Jean, Amber, Lisa, Albedo, Sucrose, Eula, Noelle, and of course Venti. The map here in this scenario is irrelevant but, I do have to say that the "additional roles" of Scientist, Engineer, Shapeshifter, and Guardian Angel have also been added and are all implemented into this game.

the first round? rotation? whatever you call it is actually pretty eventful with Albedo, Noelle and Venti already dead. Its actually really alarming since even if its just a game, Albedo actually takes this game REALLY SERIOUSLY and shows off his skill as the captain of the investigation team. hes the actually legit detective player-- one of his greatest plays actually being how he immediately figured out who the imps are bEFORE the game even started and bEFORE ANYONE DIED. The imps that game were very annoyed (playful) to say the least.

Noelle getting got is also like-- really serious since, as everyone knows, shes very helpful. a little too helpful. when she fully trusts someone, she will do everything she can to keep them alive and safe. and if that someone is sus abt someone, she is determined to help them figure out whether or not that person is an impostor or not. ultimate crewmate basically. one of her more "scary" plays is when she unwittingly became third impostor and LITERALLY BROUGHT EVERYONE TO THEIR DEATHS. THATS HOW HELPFUL SHE IS. god she felt SO BAD afterwards but it was a good name nonetheless.

The imps killing Venti off early meant that they werent playing around anymore, because that man has the GREATEST SOUL READ OUT OF EVERYONE. helps that hes also god but we dont talk abt that and also he cant use his archon powers to cheat LOLLL. One of his most memorable moments is how before they even started the game, he cORRECTLY PREDICTED WHO THE IMPS WOULD BE THAT ROUND. when the imps received their roles, they were definitely a bit more than shocked. in that same game, he just voted the two imps to break the tie for shit and giggles. and thats how they won the game. crack energy was strong in that one LOL.

The fear and distrust is rampant the whole discussion time, with Amber and Sucrose lowkey and highkey respectively panicking, Eula making hasty assumptions, Lisa challenging those assumptions, Diluc and Kaeya at each others throats, and Jean trying and failing to get things under control. They did nOT get anywhere during that and all begrudgingly voted to skip despite being at everyones throats. everyones suspecting everyone and the only people there who are FOR SURE innocents are Amber or Sucrose.

this is because, while they both may be lousy at being imps, they still act mostly the same both as imps and crews-- aka trying their best to be helpful and win. they're both usually kinda bad at lying. not that theyre bad, its just that theyre not good and you can usually tell if theyre truthing or not by the amount of information they provide and how eager and confident they are abt it. using that knowledge, they all simultaneously agree to shadow those two everywhere since they can tell that yes, they are crewmates, yes amber did watch sucrose fumble the id card 15 times because she keeps dropping it or doing it too fast or slow, yes sucrose did the vials first before walking around the map a bit to find her next task.

so thats what happens-- they split up into group amber and sucrose and go on opposite sides of the map. and then the sabotage happens. the lights die. the amber group, consisting of, of course, amber, jean and diluc, is closer and they rush to lights where team sucrose hadnt reached yet. they all pile up into a group and pull up the lights interface. and as they set it down, theyre immediately greeted by eula reporting a dead body and amber screaming.

after jean manages to get everyone down to a respectable volume, she asks for everyone to give their testimony since she had the interface up. amber nervously says that since there were so many people at lights already, she decided to not fix it but instead watch out for any impostors that might make a move. but when she saw the blood splatter, she couldnt see who did it clearly since they were at the edge of her visibility which is when she immediately rushed forward and spammed the report button.

eula backs her up and them immediately accuses lisa of killing sucrose, off the bar that the second the lights went off she had lagged behind. lisa is greatly offended, talking about how shes targeting her since the first round with no solid basis and eula strikes back with her saying something that lisa did in the first round that made her look sus. and then diluc and kaeya start rilling it up by backing the side that they were with the most, diluc backing lisa and kaeya backing eula even if they only saw the other in passing. it gets real petty REAL fast. literally the only reason diluc is backing lisa is because while jean is trying her best to be fair, she obviously favors lisa a bit more while kaeya siding with eula is more reasonable because they actually spent time together.

it ends with amber tying the votes since despite trusting jeans judgement, all eula had done was back her up and let her voice be heard in the two times theyve had discussions and proven herself to be innocent-- lisa got voted out by kaeya and eula and amber, and eula got voted out by jean and diluc and lisa. the second their screens fade back to the table they all realize that theres gonna be no rounds left since they havent figured out who one of the imps are and theres only six of them left. all it takes is for them to kill two and its over.

they all decide to separate and spread themselves as far as they can throughout the ship to get their tasks done as fast as they can. and as amber and jean start to walk out of medbay and are greeted by kaeya and diluc suddenly appearing in the back of the room, they know that the brothers have won.

everyone is screaming when the impostor win screen pops up, featuring diluc and kaeyas beans. literally NOONE expected them to win, considering the fact that they have been at each others throats the whole time both ingame and irl. fucking NOONE expected them to just-- quietly team up to MASSACRE the entire ship. because really-- who WOULD expect it??

their entire among us game history is just them bickering with each other, it gets like-- really kind of emotional and concerning sometimes-- theyve gotten banned from playing multiple times since the whole "being an impostor" thing has very similar connotations with being a spy from another country and we aLL KNOW HOW THAT WENTTTT

the synergy between the two-- ugh--

eula is just mad she accidentally became the third impostor. AGAIN.

oh yeah, kaeya was the shapeshifter. the first kill in the first round was a double kill with venti and noelle. diluc vented out of the scene but popped up in a room where albedo was but his cooldown was still going so he just did his best to try and herd him away from the button and hope that he runs into kaeya. and fortunately kaeya does run into them, and a bit of hope blooms in albedos heart which was then promptly crushed by kaeya murdering his ass. he then watches as he turns into venti and they both leave the scene. from the second he knew they were working together, he knew they were screwed. but he does respect using the quiet expectation that they would never get along to their advantage.

the bickering did have some actual heat behind it though since diluc obviously almost fucked them in the ass when he vented infront of bedo AHAHA

Your side hurt, your lungs hurt, your heart hurt. You could barely think. The gods were on your tail again. They hunted you and sought to kill you again and again and again and again.

It'd never stop. They'd never stop. You'd be hurting forever if you didn't do something. You could just... sit there... and accept death.

Ha, hell no. You wanted to watch them writhe in anger, wish they hadn't played games. Wish they were powerful enough to kill you.

So you disappeared. Teleported away with nothing left behind but tracks. It was during this time you honned your stealth and thievery skills. It started small, with some food and water - you were dying after all. Then it started getting bigger, you started accumulating clothes and cloth to make clothes.

Stealing the basics first, a mask and a big hat to not get recognized easily. A better cloak you had sewn a primogem onto and you'd fashioned some primogems into earrings. A small fuck you to the gods to show you'd never wish for any of them again.

Then you went for the bigger fish. You stole weapons. Replacing all of their weapons with one stars, all of those that had hurt you were stripped of their artifacts as well. You put them in your own arsenal. Though, you preffered your daggers as you had fully adopted the theivery act.

The artifacts you had merely gone to the character screen to steal, but for the weapons...

You went in person.

You could see their blood boiling as you appeared from seemingly nowhere. At first, the gods were confused.

"Who are you!" Ei had demanded.

"Aw you don't remember me?" Your smile was damning, "Let me paint a picture, Wolvendom, cornering a scared human between three wrathful gods and Andrius. Then, they dissapeared."

The recognition that dawned on their faces was just the beginning of your sweet revenge.

"It's you! The heretic!" Venti shouted, his face twisted into a seething anger.

The three immediately went to attack you, but you'd dodged at an almost inhuman speed.

"Barbie doll, I'd stop jumping to violence if you wanna keep you lyre der hymmel in one piece." You grinned like a cat, "Well, you've already nearly broken it-"

"How'd you get that?" Venti gasped, his bow lowered.

You giggled, "Now you're lowering your weapon? Not when I was helpless and stared at Mondstat with wonder-?"

"Nobody gives a shit about your sob story just answer the question!" Venti snarled, his bow raised again.

You sighed and shrugged, "How'd the traveler and you get it the first time? I snuck in, though the fatui didn't interrupt me."

Venti's breath was stolen, "How do you know about that-"

"Oh! Look at the time! Seems I'm gonna be keeping this, see you later loves!" You made half a heart with your hand whilst you hurridly teleported away. Spears and arrows penetrating the ground where you had stood.

Another time, you had decided to have a bit of fun with Sara.

"How do you run in those shoes babe?" You had appeared beside her, curiously tilting your head.

"Wha- You!" She'd drawn her bow and aimed it at you.

You held up your hands, "Woah! No need to get so angry so quickly. You're reminding me of Ei you know." You pouted.

"Who's Ei- nevermind. I won't listen to the words of a heretic like you." She sneared and let go of her arrow. It whizzed past you and you just barely dodged, seeming to dissappear for a moment before reappearing next to her.

"But seriously, how the hell do you walk in those? Can I try them on?" You smiled innocently as Sara opted to just attempt to stab you with the arrow.

"Jeez! You and your archons really have no chill!" You huffed, dusting your clothes off.

"Soldiers! Surround them!" Sara ordered.

You sighed, but just as you were about to teleport away a bolt of lightning struck the ground near you and with it, the mussou no isshin slashed you just past your shoulder. The cut wasn't that deep, but it still hurt like hell due to the lightning embued into it. It caused convulsions to overcome your body and you crumpled to your knees.

"Can't teleport away now can you?" The cold voice of the Raiden Shogun - no, that was Ei - sparkled through the air.

"Fuck." You huffed, holding your shoulder.

A hand knocked your hat off and grabbed your hair, forcefully lifting you up to meet the face of Ei. More strikes of lightning struck you and your body convulsed.

"What do you have to say heretic?" Ei held her sword up to your throat, "Now that you've been caught and shall now face divine punishment."

You puffed for air, "What... did I ever do... but try to be happy... with the face I have?"

Ei didn't like that answer. She pulled her sword back and you shut your eyes tight as another round of lightning struck your body. Your arms went limp and uncovered your arm just as blood drippled down your nose.

She gasped and let you go. All at once, the pain of lightning and being held up by your hair dissappeared as you crumpled to the floor, breathing heavily.

Ei's hands shook as she dropped her weapon and carefully picked your injured body back up. She looked to your face, your half-lidded eyes, eyebrows and lips drawn back in pain, golden blood dribbling down your nose and shoulder.

"Haha," You giggled, a mad grin on your face, "Hahaha! That's the- that's the softest anyone has been to me."

Ei's heart broke, Sara could barely stand and dropped to her knees. You reached your hand up to Ei's face, cupping it.

You grinned, though your eyes shone with golden flecks of hate, "I hope those months of me terrorizing you was hell, and I hope this is worse." You made half a heart with one of your hands.

I feel like the biggest issue with modern homestuck fanon is that whether people liked it or not, and how if its concidered dubiously canon or not, hs^2 and epiloge characterization has bled into fanon. the majory of hs fans hate hs^2 (and for good reason), yet Jane hate has gone up, people are being sooo unnecessarily weird about davejadekat (/all of its pairings) and bi characters in general, rosemary is deemed boring (killkillkillkill-), people don't see jake as a person will feelings, karkat?? kanaya?? trolls?? never heard of them, unless you mean those.. things we keep around to fuel the humans plots sometimes and act as the occasional therapist. Also... Dirk...

karkat is probably one of if the my most favorite character, I think hes interesting as hell!!! but alot of what makes him intersting comes from how he fits against troll society/against other trolls imo??? his mutation, his dancestory/him being the litteral second coming of christ, the significance of his secretly caring personality in a violent child soldier evil murder military state and what it says about it as a whole with his role as the alternian equivalent of the 'everyman', his familial relationship with kanayah, his unique relationship with romance, etc, these things all mean jack shit to humans, and shine best around other trolls, yet all he is now is daves side bitch, i feel fanon has sorta moved away from hs and into earthC, noone really cares about alternia anymore as trolls are just seen as humans but grey. even comander!karkat focuses more on dave angst than karkat, a minority amongst his people, leading a revolution a'la signless style??

idk i just feel like hes just been watered down into the easily digestible 'angry character' who is sad sometimes for,,, resons. i feel like this disconnect from alternia in general just sort takes away depth from beta troll characters in general?? even metorstuck content now feels shallow and disconnected??

And what sucks is that i like davekat, and people are right about them being a great pairing for working out their issues together , but at the same time i miss litteraly ever other karkat ship, i miss the days of the karkat x beta trolls harem and being able to use quadrants for him without being deemed problematic for not adheering to queer identity of a race that dosent exist and dosent effect anyone because real life has no oppressive poly romance system, and im just sick if this ship reducing the characters down to a pinterest black and red asthetic moodboard when they are so much more than that.

I say this with no disrespect at all, in fact I am enthralled: I didn’t even know asks could be this long!! Thank you for your input, I agree with you! And don’t worry- you were quite clearly comprehendible! You covered a lot of ground already, but allow me just a moment to commentate on specific points…

The bleeding of HS^2/Epilogues content/reinterpretations into the larger sphere of full-fandom fanon has been a slow, insidious process. I think the fact that most people have not taken the time to reread Homestuck proper, be it due to lack of time/energy or fear of its length, has really added to this- because a gradually slipping grip on what is and is not canon simply doesn’t pair well with rather disagreeable dubiously canon sequel content having come out fairly recently. The thing about DubCanon is that, whether you or I like it or not, people are going to apply those particular reinterpretations of the characters to what their idea of canon is, and- typically- they will fail to remember that the changes made to the characters were changes in the first place. Rather large ones, at that. This is not only how and why people are out here thinking that Jane was not only legitimate Troll-Racist in Homestuck, but also how and why they get the idea that she’s always been that way.

I’m not sure if my memory is failing me or not, but as far as I remember, while biphobia has always been a problem in the fandom- baffling, considering most characters are textually bi- it really does seem like it’s at an all-time high right now. People are adamantly refusing the idea that some characters are bisexual. Dave and Karkat are the ones I see the most regularly erased, but Jake is also pretty high up there.

The current drought of Alternia content is so sad. Earth C is great, don’t get me wrong- it’s the planet I most regularly work with/develop because of Sovereignstuck- but people oft throw out the concept of conflict when using it. Especially, like, social/political conflict. Earth C is basically synonymous with Flawless Utopia, at this point. It’s a petty complaint, sure, but I don’t like it. :(

I absolutely despise how trolls have been turned into gray humans with horns! They’re bug aliens!! Bug aliens!!! That’s so much cooler than gray humans with horns!! Fuck!!

I kinda disagree that a change of setting takes away from the Beta Trolls as characters- I think the issue isn’t the fact that there’s a setting change, it’s that the writers aren’t really willing to work with the fact that, uh… You know… The Beta Trolls have vastly different socializations and come from a vastly different cultural background than the Beta/Alpha Kids? You could very easily find conflict and development with the setting change. You’d just have to keep in mind the way that their upbringing would affect them and how they’d respond to their new environment. Old habits die hard, you know? It’s a whole new planet, a whole new myriad of cultures, and whole new societies with whole new rules and whole new customs. There’s so much intrigue you could get with that fact alone!!

I like DaveKat, too. It’s fall from grace is astounding, and it’s honestly made me like them less, which is a shame because it was pretty important to me when I was younger, and Dave and Karkat used to be top favorite characters of mine. They’re basically just… Blank slate characters now, made to slap whichever miscellaneous scenario or random romance trope onto, without any regard to what their characters are or what made their dynamic good in the first place.

It’s funny- I don’t think the Quadrant Queerness was made into a huge deal in canon or anything? At least, I don’t quite remember it being a federal fucking issue. Yeah, Karkat’s Quadrant struggles were there, but I don’t think it was really… Associated with being “Troll Gay” or anything. I’m at least 80% sure that was just something the fandom latched onto and blew out of proportion- I see more talk about Karkat being “Pan-Quadrant,” I believe the term was, than I see content of any other part of his character arc? Crying shame, too- considering, again, as you said, he’s the fucking Second Coming of Jegus.

So I was thinking about how God reader just yoinked all the cool blessed weapons from everyone, and realised, we could take this even a step further.

It's a deep shame that we can't forge weapons with gimmicky purposes, because can you imagine Lisa, stuck with a blessed weapon, that heals her opponents anytime she attacks? Or Jean, with a weapon that deals damage to her when she hits someone with her skill. What if God Reader figured out how to apply the affects of Cursed Seals/debuffs onto characters? Imagine the effects of that.

Also, what if reader had a minor influence on the actions of characters that were last deployed in their party? It would make sense, since God reader actively controlled them before coming to Teyvat. Like if Venti was last in their party, when Venti goes to use his skill to attack, reader sabotages it by turning his skill press into a hold, making his attack just fly him into the air with a wind blast instead of attacking reader. Or if an archer, let's say Ganyu, was last in your team, reader could just spam the charge shot cancel with forcing the character into a dash, a jump, or even just the cancel shot button. If Childe was in their team they could force Childe into Melee mode when he's far away from them, so when he gets to them he's stuck in cooldown forever and can only attack with his bow (which reader could also cancel lol, unless they're regular attacks). Zhongli trying to crush them with his meteor? Whoops he used it too early and it completely missed. Xiao getting stuck into his burst to drain his hp before he catches up to reader, little tricks like that God reader could do to survive a little longer and escape, with the added bonus of freaking/annoying their enemies the heck out. Maybe God reader could eventually even figure out how to switch out their party? Allowing them to inhibit the actions of any of the playable characters around them a little.

fatui: don’t do this. he’s not just a Fatui, he's the Sixth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, get it straight.

bold of you to call him awful nicknames when you’re angry. very bold. do you want a death wish?!?! if you call him weak, you’re going to feel his wrath and he’ll punish you in the most awful ways. during intimate times he won’t give you the pleasure of release and he’s going to be AWFUL, he has a few terrible nicknames for you. and he’s just plain torturous.

baby deer: coming from his other title, Balladeer, you just think baby deer is a cute nickname that sounds similar enough. he has big doe eyes pls, so cute.

sir: this is obvious. he lives for this like omg call him this in the bedroom or just in general. his ego just gets boosted way up. 

master: it sounds so “olden days”, but he doesn’t mind it. he’d rather you call him sir.

okay, he kinda feels eh on the affectionate nicknames. he doesn’t like baby deer that much, only because it sounds girly. he’s not a delicate deer... sir is probably his favorite for obvious reasons. when you call him this on his good days, he’ll definitely reward you ;) and on his awful days, you calling him sir always brings a smirk to his face.

he’s not very fond of the teasing nicknames and much prefers the affectionate nicknames you give him, but he’s not totally bothered by them. he’s meh, 50/50.

know-it-all: you only say this if you feel like he’s not valuing your opinion. which rarely happens. if you’re arguing over something work-related and you call him that? he’ll be bothered, cue passive-aggressiveness. 

workaholic: it sounds degrading to him in a sense, especially if he has been working hard. but I guess that’s the point right, to show him you’re angry? he dislikes the nickname nonetheless.

he hates these nicknames, one because you’re angry at him when you use them, and two, because they’ll always just get under his skin. he loves his work, he honestly loves what he does, so saying those things to try and burn that fire in him, hurts a lot.

Affectionate

baby boy: do y’all see him?!?! defiantly a baby boy for obvious reasons. 

sunshine: also, look at him! he’s a ray of sunshine in your life. 

prince: you got it from Kreideprinz and just took the part that sounded like Prince and used it lol. but he deserves that nickname.

he’ll playfully make it sound like the angry nicknames don’t bother him as much. but let's be real, any belittling nickname can hurt anyone, even an Archon, he’s not immune to anything like that, as much as he makes it seem.

dandelion: his skin is as soft as a dandelion, like how?!?! and he loves dandelion wine too :) so this is an obvious one.

greatest archon: yes!! boost his ego. if he’s your favorite archon, this name just feels even more special.

Diluc

Absolute pretty boy who has braincells, but only if Kaeya is not there. In his mind, Kaeya’s presence makes his room loose 40% of their common sense. He can’t prove it just yet but he’s working on it. He majors in accounting but also has a minor in marketing, logistics’ management, fia- he majors everything business related. He’s going to become the next Elon Musk through smarts or by getting the competition drunk. There can be no contest if he’s the only candidate. He’s actually a hard working guy that overworks and stresses way too much. You have daily “Diluc recharge” evenings where he just hangs onto you while you go through your day.

“Don’t fucking talk to me until I’ve had my coffee,” except there is no coffee - he drinks grape juice out of juice boxes and his only energy boost is when he meets up with you - and that’s his constant mood. So he usually only hangs around you and Jean, since she has childhood friend status and is actually an angel. By default, Lisa is added and Diluc doesn’t mind her but if he see’s Kaeya, it’s full on war paint mode. If he's not busy with work or studies, he's usually with you either in your dorm or his apartment.

He has a fanclub and he seriously hates it and tries to do everything in his power to get Ningguang to take it down. Shouldn’t this be against his rights? But she refuses for whatever reason and makes a whole speech about free will. No matter what he does, someone manages to take a picture and it get’s printed in the university’s newspaper. The only bonding time he has with Kaeya is every Monday, where they collect and burn all the universities newspapers before anyone can get their hands on it. You always bring marshmallows to make smores during their arson activities.

Ningguang

Is secretly the leader of the Diluc fanclub - not that she likes Diluc, she’s in a questionable platonic poly marriage with you and Beidou - but it was the easiest way to gain funds for the student council. Which she is the president of, so rip Diluc the fanclub stays. Ruthless business woman I tell you. But she can run in heels so her danger factor rises by at least 20%.

Majors in social sciences and law but more specifically the political science & government. She saw the Imperial State Crown that the Queen of England wears and says yes, that’s mine now. If she’s not with Beidou and you planning on “how to infiltrate the state government just for lols”, then she’s with Keqing, Ganyu, and Zhongli discussing student council things. Should they or should they not tell the student body that they can see everyone’s search results? Sit back and relax as the school goes into chaos. 

She’s probably the scariest person on campus No, she is the scariest person on campus. She’s the scariest person on campus. But secretly she’s popping 20 aspirins just to make it through a night. She has the digestive system of steel. She still holds the title of "seriously do not try and beat her in a drinking game it's never going to happen" and that's her proudest achievement in life but sadly she can’t put it on her resume. Kaeya is still trying to beat her out of spite but so far it hasn't been working. You’re seriously concerned for her when she get’s challenged but Beidou gives you a way-to-hard slap on the back and cheers her on. If Ninngguang somehow get’s alcohol poisonings she’ll somehow find away to make a profit out of it.

Kaeya

One day he chugged too much mouth wash, passed out, and somehow woke up in university majoring in law. His idea is that if he is apart of the law, he can therefore stand above it. To be fair, his only goal in life is to say “I am the manager” and he can go live the rest of his life in bliss or as a hermit. The type of guy to try and be humble and say his work is “okay” but will choke a bitch if anyone agrees. He tends to leave everything last minute and says that it’s his drug since actual drugs could land you one year in prison and a maximum penalty of $2,000. You have to awkwardly hold in your concerned mother head shake when you see him speed running his assignment literally right when the professor is walking around to check if students finished.

Slept through most of highschool and people question how he got into university. He does whine at you to pretty pretty please with a cherry on top tutor him because you're such an angel and would never leave your poor but awesome best friend hanging right? He needs to get this essay down but how he is suppose to explain how the number 10 is symbolic and connects to the universe or the meaning of life. Do you think he can just say it’s apart of his culture and make up some random myth to pretend it looks like he knows what he’s doing? 

He’s honestly going with the flow and put his brain on the back burner all of highschool and only now realizes wait, I actually have to use my brain?

Any sport the university offers Childe is probably in it. Let's start with Childe! Its the most resent design released by mod Anenome which I Did alter a tiny bit for my brain thoughts. I based the colors off of their drawing but obv it wasn't perfect. I tried to make the tail get lighter in color but I'm not sure if you can really see it all that well lmao. But!! headcannon time!! for Childe as a hybrid I think he's got cold scales like ice wings but like only barely, but it fucks up with his fire, so instead of being able to make flames the closest he can get is like smoke. So mostly it's an intimidation thing, but even if the smoke is Pretty Hot it doesn't do nearly as much damage as fire. Also! about his gauntlet; it was supposed to be black but I forgot to paint part of it and I had already cleaned my desk and put all my stuff away so I just used a silver colored pencil. It is shiny tho!

Next up! Albedo! He was actually the one i drew last, and it was kind of hard to figure out what little bobble from his og clothes to add. (like how childe has the shoulder cauldron and earring) His main visual characteristics (not lore) to me are his hair, his big boots, and his big Ole coat. None of which dragons really Wear. In the end I gave him his little drawing clipboard and the throat diamond. Also, I think we was probably made with animus magic, and studies it. What happened to his tail? I have no idea, but it probably has something to do with never wanting to hide his imperfections. For the bracelet from Klee, I couldn't decide whether it would be a peice of scrap metal she shaped for him, or a some fireproof fabric, but in the end I never had to decide because you can't see it LMAO. pick your favorite ;)

Now Ganyu! Her little blurb is going to be a bit short, mostly bc she was pretty straight forward to draw and I don't know her well enough to have any headcannons haha. Because I didn't color my sketch of her I couldn't do any horn details to make it look more like Ganyu. I had a similar problem to albedos design, because her notable design thing is just her horns. The bell and the rope on her vision were easy to add as accessories but I'm not sure if they really scream Ganyu.

Zhongli is next! I wanted to give him a nightwing scale pattern but a mudwing body shape to look majestic while giving him little glowing bits thst glow amber. I gave him the shiny scale by the eye to imitate his eyeshadow, and I think he has the power of mind reading but is like, sick of it. So the black part of his earing is the rock that blocks nightwing powers (I can't remember if it has an official name lol) I'm unsure about Anenome's world building for their designs but my thoughts on Archons are either that they are animus for each kingdom and they get their powers how Qibli did from enchanted artifacts (the nosis, the spell would be "whoever holds this gets animus powers" or something) or archons are just leaders, where its no longer a queen only world (or zhongli and venti are just queens, i think they can do it) If the archons are just leaders than animus dragons could be in Khaenri'ah, where they're are killed or cursed by the other dragons for their hubris. OR Celestia is the animus dragons. and how do the Pantala dragons fit in? I have no idea. I'm rambling. this au lives in my head rent free.

Okay last but not least Klee! I added her hat first because she needs it. then I wanted to do her backpack but I hit my first dilemma: dragons don't really wear things on their backs. It inhibits their ability to fly properly. But Klee's comically large backpack is a huge part of her charm for me, so I wanted to add it. I decided on big ole saddle bag type things on her haunches. Okay so, elephant in the room, if you've seen the wings-of-impact post about Kler then you know, she has fire scales! So how can she wear clothes? Well I actually just forgot, but I've decided that Tevat! Pyrrhia is actually cooler and sexier and has fireproof stuff for our resident arsonist. For headcannons, I think she has an unhealthy obsession with those cactus bombs and has to constantly be reminded that she Cannot touch them. She's been trying to make her own bombs with limited success, on account of melting the ingredients and not being allowed near gunpowder.

Seeing people prepare gifts for their loved ones, the atmosphere feels so wholesome

You guys even took a little trip to Windrise, and he even play you a tune or two

You really enjoyed his company and he’s enjoying it too

During the festival, you guys grew closer together, and maybe you guys would perform together in front of the Cathedral

You were really happy that you have someone to enjoy the festival with

Even Venti feels a lot of joy hanging out with you

You two met at his habitat, Wolvendom

You were currently adventuring at that place

When you're peacefully strolling around the place, you saw a bunch of wolves dead..

So you rushed to see where it was coming from

There, you saw a boy fighting against an abyss mage, boi... that thing really do like to cause trouble

The boy looked really angry despite the mage killed his wolf packs

You determined to help him and so you did..

After you two defeated the mage..he turned to look at you, "thank you... lupical, dead.." he said

This baby almost cried because he couldn't save all of them, only a few of them that are safe..

"I tried to protect them...but I failed...", he said in a sad tone

You looked at him sympathetically, "aww..it's alright..you tried your best, it's not your fault.." you said to him

He looked really sad and disappointed, but at the same time he felt kinda relieved that someone was there to help him

"Why did you come here..?" he asked, "Oh, I was just adventuring and then I suddenly found you..." you said

"My name is y/n.." you added, "I'm Razor"

"Do you come from here Razor?" you asked again, "yes..I was raised by wolves, Razor has no human family" he said

You were shocked that there's actually someone who is raised by wolves

"I see..." you said, "I think some of your wolf friends got hurt..may i help?" you offered him

Razor nodded and help you as much as he could

"There, that should do it.. they can't move that much for awhile, but they'll be alright.." you said to him

Razor was very grateful that he could find you, maybe he would be doomed if you hadn't come..

"You're strong...can Razor learn from you..?" he asked shyly :")

"Of course, I would be happy to teach you" you say

Razor smiled a little, he wanted to learn from you so that he could protect his lupical if something bad like this would happen

The next day, you came back to Wolvendom and train him

He picked up the lesson pretty quickly, and he now learnt how to use his Vision

You came to Wolvendom couple of times, and besides train him, you helped him hunt some meats to eat

You never really force him to come and live at the city, but if he wants to visit it once or twice..you bring him there

Razor is really happy now that he learned new things from you and also has a friend that helped him..

Sometimes he wonders if he could protect you from danger too

He just didn't want to lose you like he loses his other wolf friends

Razor silently swore to him self that he will protect you from any danger that you encounter

Overall, you guys cared about each other and wanted to protect one and other, he just wishes that you'll be saver around him <3
