Them’s the Breaks, Kid is the only Raeda thing in the show that is all comfort. Change my mind.

I’m in the middle of yet another Raeda brain rot at the moment and since TtBK is my comfort episode, I wanted to make this.

Let’s begin!

Eda’s Requiem - They reunite, share a beautiful duet and give us some of the best Raeda moments of the show, only for Raine to get captured at the end, which leads to we know what. And honestly, this episode is more painful now not just because of their history together by that point, but we also know what they’re gonna go through with the DOU.

Knockin’ On Hooty’s Door - Raeda breakup time! It breaks my heart in every way!

Follies at the CDP - I don’t think I even need to explain this one. And it’s 50x more painful after TtB.

O Titan Where Art Thou - Their talk on the crystal ball makes me cry a bit every time. Eda wants to keep her kids safe and Raine wants to say everything to her but has to keep their cover. But they also want to keep her safe which is just so sweet and just- AHHH! -incoherent gibberish-

Clouds on The Horizon - Raine worries for Eda almost the entire episode and I cannot blame them. This very easily could’ve been the last time they ever saw each other and that is something I really don’t wanna think about (I say, knowing I have a full fic chapter on that very subject).

King’s Tide - “Don’t- don’t tell me not to worry” “I promised a special kid I’d protect you”. Avi Roque’s delivery on both lines is like a stab straight to the heart. You can really tell that before Eda went up, Raine wanted to say absolutely everything but couldn’t. Holy Titan, it hits harder than I remember.

For The Future - Holy shit. That’s all I can really say about this. We may have gotten Raine’s glorious reaction to Harpy Eda as well as Eda’s “I just like to visit Raine” line, but neither of those will ever heal the pain brought to us by Raine being turned into a puppet and then getting possessed by Belos. I can feel the angst from the finale from here.

And after all that, there still remains one episode I have yet to talk about: Them’s the Breaks, Kid. Here, we get adorable young Raeda fluff, both of them instantly becoming besties and being awesome together while fighting a coven head, and ending it with the incredibly badass scene of Raine revealing that they weren’t brainwashed and declaring to keep Eda safe, while at the same time silently saying to us that they still are still deeply in love with her. If that isn’t an episode full of comfort, I don’t know what is!

You can try all you want, but you will never change my view on this.

but as well as approaching it with this slightly overwhelmed perspective, there's a sort of affectionate optimism in there, too. that even tho the concept's intimidating, there's a sense of wonder in how humans develop and raising them and watching them grow up. hey this kid thing's fun actually, yeah I wish they'd leave me alone sometimes, but look at how cute and resilient they are look at what they can do. and then "replicant" is like jesus parenting a teenager is hard.

One thing I noticed is just how... formal Jumin and V are with each other during the casual/deep story when compared to their interactions in another story. There's a sense of awkwardness that never really gets addressed by either of them, but that's what makes it realistic to me. Have you ever grown apart from your close friend over the years? Yeah, it looks just like this. They still care about one another, deeply and sincerely, but so many things are getting left unsaid, and they just keep piling up. It's easier to just not address them at all. Besides... you don't want to make your friend feel uncomfortable. Jumin respects Jihyun's privacy, almost to a fault. It's a shame his deep trust is not appreciated.

Blasting music, high on this tragic angst, I know some of y'all aren't happy but goddamn I'm on cloud nine. The love of it all the the tension ramping up and breaking, the fear, the soul-crushing grief, seeing the kids again, being yanked away from them, half of them making it and the other half not, losing two of my favorite characters in such quick succession, I am absolutely relishing it

sometimes the anime will unnecessarily change a certain character’s team from what it was in the game and i’ll be like “sure but why?” most of the time. but then they occasionally get it SO good that i’m like “yeah no why didnt the game do that?”

that’s how i am with gladion here. i dont really remember the rest of his SM team but i like that they just gave him every “edgy” pokemon in the area. like truly all i think he Needs in his team is silvally and maybe crobat for the friendship evolution, but the anime gives him umbreon instead so that covers it anyways and in a better way imo
