though i do gotta say, the state of affairs on yt is Rather Dire, I Think. trying to look for anything interesting at all and its "THE BEST GAME YOUVE NEVER PLAYED??" "THE THING ABOUT [popularseries] NOBODY KNOWS??" "I GOT CREATORS TO DO THING????" "CAN YOU [videogame] WHILE [scenario]????" that same thumbnail artstyle, big red arrows and over-the-top surprised expressions and and and its so disingenuous. like yeah i know it works and all but. oil in water. it all smudges together yknow.

and then over edited captions spinning and bobbing across the entire screen, those same few background music tracks (that are absolutely never credited), smug commentary that comes across as the audio equivalent of a dreamworks face, constant cut ins of meme images as bits about as entertaining as 'haha dont you recognize this image? theres character in this image instead, isnt that so funny?' like arent you tired? arent you all so tired? are we not all so fucking tired??

Decided it couldn’t be any harm to share some of my Namari art from today so I’m finally honouring my username

I really struggle to convert characters into my style, especially from an anime art style where head are usually based on completely different shapes than those I use, so I always have to sketch a character at least a few times to get it right:

Pleased with how this face came out tho:

Namari is still probably one of the best DunMesh characters to convert into my art style cuz of her face and the fact that her bodytype is one of the easiest for me to draw.

As much as I love Chilchuck, his face is a hell for me to try to draw accurately.

And the final hesitation before he takes his hands - unclasping them, now 'stained' more than ever - and hugs her back, because he won't refuse her comfort

After all, he did this for her:

He supported the system, so it is complex. It’s worth arguing about, a bit. There’s not a clear right or wrong. There are risks. There are long term consequences. Those are baked into it. i won’t hold people to the same standards i have on myself in terms of friendship bc everyone shows they care in different ways

#this is a part affirmation and part intro to a rant i need to unleash #but i’ll leave it in the tags here bc it feels safer lol #it’s abt my housemate the other day when we had our last class which is online but our previous classes were in person so as a class we #usually just pull it up on the main computer and broadcast the zoom in the classroom #but on this day the class before this zoom class got out early so lots of people went home early to just watch it on their own zoom or wtvr #so the row i sit in was pretty empty except for me my housemate and our two friends #and usually my housemate sits on my right but she got up and moved to sit on the other side next to our other friend and said nothing #and i didn’t want to say anything bc i was kinda sad/offended even though #her moving seats probably has nothing to do with me and much rather her personal preference i can’t help but think negatively abt myself #also one morning we were both off she went to the smoothie shop and coffee shop and just went to pick up her orders and i felt the same #reaction of like sad/offended bc she didn’t consider me at al like what if i wanted a smoothie too! TF #or coffee even though i don’t drink coffee anymore wtvr #my thoughts on her and my friendship are kinda rocky bc we feel so out of sync #i feel like she’s always in her own world and it’s hard to get through to her and become real friends #it’s whatever not all friendships can be deep and meaningful

sci fi and fantasy genres are really for minorities and while i’m not surprised white cishet men in particular have dominated and claimed those genres as theirs, it’s so like….frustrating watching them butcher the genres again and again. ceaselessly. without an ounce of self awareness.

#obviously not to say they can’t write within the genres but it’s like #so clear they’ve never understood sci fi and fantasy the way minorities have #and that’s because those genres are tools used to explore our own society and lives and existence #and they often lack that clarity even when they think they don’t #there was an intro to the collection of short stories called ‘octavia’s brood’ where they said that #activism is its own form of science fiction #where we attempt to imagine a fictional world where we have solved these problems #where we fight to see that world #and i think sci fi and fantasy has always been that tool #and men continue to miss it #sorry random cielo thoughts today #i just finished left hand of darkness and started the fifth season #and have been watching house of the dragon and it’s like #so apparent to me who the masters of these genres are!!! and who the tourists are #and yet look who is getting the million dollar shows……………#cielo rambles!

#this is all i can think about every time i watch the battle fever intro and its killing me #all of after v's visuals are inspired heavily by pre-dynaman sentai #their intro song lyrics and helmets are very goggle v #their OUTRO song is reminiscent of battle fevers #the suits are very sun vulcan #the team has an implied shared cockpit like bf/denziman #BUT something that has always bothered me (get ready for the stupidest nit-pick you've ever heard)#their weapons are holstered on their left sides #(which IS typical for melee team weapons that dont have gun modes - think gao/ginga)#but goggle v and sun vulcan holster their weapons on their right sides and i AM that kind of petty #i was going somewhere with this but i have long since forgotten lmao sowwy

I started a comfort movie watch party the other day and I finally got round to finishing The LEGO Ninjago Movie again and GOSH <3 I love her so much I forgot how much it means to me she's actually so special <333

#i said SOMEWHERE in another post that the movie was my intro into Ninjago as a whole #which is why she's so special to me & i'll defend her with my life bc without it I never would have found the show #it was really odd tbh lmao - i watched a youtube video of “everything great about TLNM” & was like #“damn i NEED to watch that movie it looks so silly”#I proceeded to watch it like 10+ times in the span of 3 days? I got OBSESSED #went BACK to the YT vid and realised the guy talked about how “it was different to the series” which intrigued me to do some researching #and BAM found out about the show & IMMEDIANTLY started watching it & sending pictures to a friend who actually watched it as a kid #we proceeded to watch it together for a while before he kinda lost interest and i got more and more into it #and here we are now - he has NO idea whats happening in Ninjago & doesn't care while im cursed™ with knowledge #and i couldn't be more happy :)#anyway yeah thats why TLNM holds a special place in my heart & why no-one could ever taint it for me #is it a good movie? YES - in regards to being a LEGO movie - as a “Ninjago” movie? yeah she's funky - BUT. i wanted to let you know that i watched the first episode of granada holmes (a scandal in bohemia) and it was so fucking good i am obsessed. i was a little nervous to watch their adaptation since irene adler usually gets done so dirty but i was very pleasantly surprised at how they treated her!!!! she was an icon from the moment she came on screen with a gun <3333333

i also love the holmes and watson dynamic so far!!!! watson did a lot in the episode to help holmes and it was so fucking funny watching holmes give zero fucks about social normals and watson working overtime to make up for holmes, lmao

yayyyy!!!! this is the only version of irene in any adaptation i like :) (im sure theres at least one other really good one out there though) she IS an icon <333 i agree with the king on one thing, what a woman! did you notice her little gay moment? its around 19:30 when she checks out a dancing women whilst drinking with the king (booo)

yesss its really good!! the way holmes expresses caring via little things like buying watsons favourite cigars too <333 or making him stay for the case <333 and watson cares right back, yelling at holmes over his cocaine habit, which is something i love about the books, so seeing it in this series is so nice :)

i love holmes' disguises as well, he really does look like a completely different person and i love that that part of the books wasnt removed :) especially his clergyman disguise, he looks delightfully comical with the bandage around his head

i believe this episode was actually the third filmed? i know solitary cyclist was the first for sure, bc they wanted the first episode to be really good, so they made sure that they all had a bit of experience with this series first :)
