Has anyone asked about your apartment (WIP)?

i was waiting for this one! this is a one shot that i’ve been working on for way too long that is based on the narrative from the song Apartment by Modern Baseball (because i am a midwest emo music fan to my core). it essentially involves a lot of Peeta pining for Katniss. i’m about 75% with this and will hopefully post it soon. here’s a snippet!

She sat down right next to him on the couch, but she averted her gaze to the rest of the party, failing to make eye contact with him. Not that Peeta was complaining – he was fairly certain his face was as red as the cup in her hands. He noticed the way her left knee bounced anxiously, a mere inches from his own. He felt his own pulse quickening, trying (and likely failing) at maintaining his stoicism.

Peeta looked around the room for a focal point to calm his climbing nerves, and his eyes met Finnick’s whose lips spread like the Cheshire cat’s.

Dude, nice, Finnick mouthed to Peeta as he eyed Katniss’s proximity to him. Just talk! he managed to yell at him without making any noise.

thinking about singing in a choir/group in comparison to singing solo/accompanied by music and just thinking abt how comparatively different that is. an orchestral backup to a solo song is nice- and takes a lot of dedication to perfect, certainly- but you will always be missing the synergy that comes with singing with other people. the synchronous intake of breath, the way vocal harmonies hum through the air in a way humans were biologically designed to pay keen attention to. the control and perfection of sound with your body instead of just your hands and limbs, and the perpetual awareness that you're operating in sync with a handful or tens or even a large group of people.

anyways. thinking abt how wigfrid's 'spellbinding' singing voice absolutely did NOT come out of the blue. thinking about how she probably started singing alongside some sort of group before moving to actressing and spending the rest of her career and the rest of her life before the constant singing and being completely alone.

WHAT is wrong with my mic this time, I swear to god, why does this always happen. Am I not loud enough? Do I need to be closer to it? It was like two inches from my mouth, how is that not close enough? I know it's working because I'm getting SOMETHING, but it's cutting out like every other line. Grrr.
