Is “à la vie, à la mort” mainly a platonic vow of loyalty in French?

Huh, good question. I looked it up and Collins’ Dictionary defines it as “for better, for worse.” Literally it means “unto life, unto death” or simply another way of saying “toujours” (forever). In the context of the show, it’s a platonic we’ll-be-best-friends-forever type of vow among the Montacrew…with an elegant but ominous waltz melody as epic foreshadowing of the tragedy to come. For my English version, I rendered it as a toast: “Here’s to life, here’s to love,” etc.

headcanon that scorpius was a sick child and was in and out of hospital constantly, perhaps related to astoria's blood curse but not directly. his immune system isnt very strong, and everytime he gets sick they're terrified that it's the blood curse but also whatever else it could be, because it's always so sudden and so intense and they call healers over to the house who recommend this delirious feverish 4 year old is hospitalised immediately, and you'd think it'd get easier to some extent because they'd be used to it, but everytime they feel like this is it, this is the time he'll walk in to the hospital and not walk out again

my coworkers are all entering Diet Time again which means i get to listen to them agonise about calories and got to listen to a coworker i really like point to all the parts of her she thinks are "too fat" because she wants to have her skinny hot girl summer.

one of them recently had a gastric band put in.

i wish i could take all of them by the hands and tell them they're lovely no matter how much weight is on them. that starving yourself doesn't help with self image or the kind of mental spiralling that leads you to tell your fat coworker that because you have a double chin when you tuck your chin into your neck you deserve to not eat for months on end.

i wish i could tell them that their bellies have pouches for their organs and even if it was just fat. it's okay. it's okay to have that second coffee. you can put milk in it i pinky promise.

you'll be fine. you'll be alright. you can't hate yourself into a shape you will be satisfied with.

i wish that when i tell them that, they could hear me.
