i'm so tired of the rutilant arena relic set, so damned tired of chasing super mega crit rating on so many characters and constantly being short. worst was pushing everything on qq to lvl 15 to still only end up at 69.3%. at least some chars get some from traces, but ofc not her. uuuuuuuugh.

killing me that i kept trying for fx knowing she was such a great tank, with great dmg absorption/reduction and ability to heal others, and failed to win. and now to find out her matrix buff *also buffs crit rate*. i SO fucking needed her for multiple reasons and i didn't even know how badly at the time i was failing and failing on her warp. FFFFFFF.

anyway. finished the pokethereum wars story questline, though i still need to do the last (red) hyperlink fights. did pick luka, though i'll wait to work on him until i try for argenti. gave him a lc/relics though since i had extras. is worth exploring the arena area after, ran into some interesting things (though i'm annoyed i screwed up the 'chat with friends' in between championship fights, i only found 2 of 3 for almost all, until the very last one i noticed where the last person was standing. wonder if i can find somewhere that at least says who all the people were. if any were dh or jy and i missed them i'm going to punch myself ed: okay at least the wiki had transcrips. didn't miss any dh/jy but did miss a lot of characters--including ALL conversations before any of the fights, didn't even realize there were any then, didn't see any indication until after the first fight. blargh.).

HSR 2-26-24

Started the day with a couple Gold and Gears runs (D4, Elation and Nihility, both went well), which got the weekly rewards. That's the four freebie tokens to wrap up a week, but also enough work to get a few more limited tickets.

We're coming in on the end of Black Swan's banner and I don't think I'm going to get to another 10-pull in time so I'm doing my last pulls today just to round off my Pity value. Just four, and they actually went pretty well! Got a Luka out of it, randomly, which is really nice even if I'm not using him. Or planning to.

I did a round of regular SU for the last of the double-drop event, but unfortunately nothing good came out of it.

Dailies:

12x Harmony Calyx rounds. Today's haul got Planetary Rendezvous to L70, and just shy of being able to get its final ascension.

12x Nihility Calyx rounds. Today's haul got Good Night Sleep Well to L70. Tomorrow should see both of these LCs up to L80.

I also did a bunch of hunting around the Dreamscape Reverie for birds and chests, and I found everything! It was 4 birds, 1 Trotter, and 2 chests in all, plus wrapping up the last of the Hanu's Adventure sequences. I've got a copy of Final Victor now and I don't know if I'm going to use it but at least I've got it.

like my go-to team or the one i run around with in town/most areas?

which I guess are the same or similar. It's shifting a lot as I'm getting characters like Topaz and Fu Xuan beefed up with traces.

Luocha is usually a staple, I'm very jealous with everyone's HP, I don't want to lose a single point 😂

Typically I think I run around with Fire Trailblazer, Sampo, Kafka and Luocha since Kafka can extra-activate Sampo and TB's DOTs and Luocha keeps the squishies in good health. (I have the Topaz LC on TB so when people attack they get burned :D)

I've been putting Fu Xuan in for Luocha sometimes though, and I regularly switch out Sampo or Trailblazer for QingQUEEN because she shreds my enemies like tissue paper lol and will burn the entire universe down for me now that I've gotten her relics sorted :D (Narrator: He only recently remembered that one can synthesize desired relics and use self-molding resin to pick the initial statistic.)

I'm gonna do a lot more rambling about other configurations so heeeeeeere's a cut so the uninterested can scroll by:

My exp calyx team is Geppie, Sampo, Luka and Himeko. Used to use my partner's Himeko before he got Kafka but I've got another friend who left Himeko up for support so I'm covered 👍 She does great because there's so many enemies to have weakness broken that she's constantly activating her talent :D Luka's really not super great for damage without Kafka, but his weakness break is pretty good, I'll have to see if that's due to relics.

And since I've been stuck in the Preservation Calyx mines for the past several weeks trying to finish up Gepard adn Fu Xuan's traces, I put together a quantum/lightning team of FX, QQ, Serval and Kafka and they are doing alright. I only just reread FX's abilities though and it looks like her self-heal can only activate twice a battle? I don't think I ever need it more than twice though, so hopefully that won't change haha.

I haven't done a whole lot of Memory of Chaos yet, and I need to finish the Xianzhou segments of the regular memory hall... but I really do just kind of shuffle teams based on what element I need. I think I could stand to add a buffer into the team. I have Asta, Tingyun and Yukong but none of them are built up. I'm kind of addicted to DOTs, and they work really well especially with having Kafka so...

But yeah. Geppie's always been a staple for ice weakness battles, Luocha's in when there's no ice or there's imaginary, and QQ and Sampo are my heaviest hitters. But I like running around town as Caelus, and if I'm having to pause for some reason I like to leave Kafka idling because her humming is soothing lol or Fu Xuan. I like that she gets three versions of her divination idle. "Hmm.... someone's slacking off again." xD

Now, here's the real question. Did any of that answer your question? lmao <3 but thanks for asking. :) I really love this game~

HSR 1-2-24

12x Destruction Calyx rounds. Today haul went towards getting Xueyi's Talent and Ultimate up (8 -> 9).

3x rounds against Scaracabaz for this week's Echo of War runs. Luocha got Entangled on the last try and I had to finish the fight with him dead but thankfully I pulled though, and that fight actually got me a Light Cone!

Had two extra copies of Past and Future (Harmony LC), one from today's EoW grind and one from earlier, so I used them both on Bronya's copy to bring it up to Superimposition 5.

1 round with an Imaginary Shadow so I can start building up my Welt.

I've got a pretty solid plan on how to spend my grind for the next couple weeks thanks to that free Dr. Ratio everybody is getting.

From now to the double baubles event starting I'm gonna focus on trying to upgrade Kafka and Topaz with the Relics from the DOT/FUP cavern, and wrap up Trace upgrades with Xueyi. Once that event starts I'm gonna start working on my Welt properly and doing pre-prep for Ratio, basically just a huge Imaginary grind. With Ratio around I've got the tools for a nice-looking mono-Imaginary comp and I want to be able to take it for a spin once he gets here.

I started building Welt today since that Shadow was really the best use of 30 TP I had, so here's progress on him:

Level 1 -> 50

Set him up with some Relics I had lying around in the Imaginary set and then the Effect Hit Rate baubles since it was the best option I had for boosting Imaginary damage.

Only did basic work on his Traces since I don't have spare Nihility Traces for him - Talent/Skill/Ultimate 1 -> 2.

He's equipped with We Will Meet Again since it's L70 and I had it lying around but to be honest I think I'm gonna move Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat off my Luka since I'm not using him anyway and give it to Welt so he can get extra debuffs onto people for Ratio to take advantage of.

I also finished my first Gold and Gears run at D5! I was worried at first, because the first plane didn't have a lot of great payoffs and I didn't get the full Remembrance package I usually like, but I got pretty much everything else I could've wanted. Topaz really put in work today, The Deer and Argenti both went down pretty smoothly thanks to her.

Next step is doing runs with new dice or trying out Conundrum Mode and I dunno if I want to bother with that just yet.

3x runs in the DoT Relic Cavern. Aside from a chestpiece from the FUP set with Crit Damage on the main stat and subpar substats, nothing notable.

12x Nihility Trace rounds.

Today's grind is enough that my Luka's Traces are all at the point where they need purple mats instead of blues, plus his Light Cone is ascended and sitting at 60 now (from 50).

Also did some Relic rearranging on Bronya, since I've had her stuck with purple Relics for ages now. Moved her over from purple Wind set Relics to gold Speed set Relics to get more value out of her Ultimate, and if I had a good Link Rope for the Vonwacq set I would've gotten that on her too. Still, upgrades are upgrades.

Also had two runs in the SU today to clear out a daily mission - was only gonna do one but Cocolia in World 6 floored me out of nowhere so I had to run it back. Both runs went pretty solidly in terms of blessings but I think getting a boost to Spore damage in the second one really turned things around. Did World 6 today instead of my usual comfort picks since I've never beaten W6 on max difficulty but I'm glad to check that box off now.

More Than a Checkbox on a Stupid List

Chapter 3: The Wooing Speed Run, Week 1

It hadn’t taken Luka long to get home after leaving Marinette at the boulangerie. She had quietly made her way upstairs, mindful of her sleeping parents, and was busy brushing her hair when her phone pinged.

LC: miss you already :( 💙💙💙

She’d giggled and sent him some kissing faces in reply, but then she’d set her alarm, placed the phone on the charger, and refused to check it the rest of the night: neither of them would get any sleep if she did. Jagged might have been a world-famous rock giant, but part of the reason he’d become one was because he was a professional – at least where his music was involved. If he wanted the band in the studio the next day, Marinette was sure that meant an early morning for Luka. Sure enough, when her alarm woke her up at eight the next day, there was a good morning text waiting for her timestamped two hours before.

He sent her a few more texts throughout the day, but Jagged kept the band pretty busy and had a strict No Phones In the Booth Man Distractions Aren’t Rock-n-Roll policy. Which was fine, because there were a few sketches Marinette had to finish up for her portfolio, and there was a commission for Chloé Bourgeois she’d been putting off (that she’d really only accepted because Audrey had asked personally), so it wasn’t like she wasn’t busy herself. Still, she missed him, and when dinner time rolled around and she still hadn’t heard much beyond a few messages at lunch she made sure to let him know.

She was in bed by nine, since she’d agreed to help in the bakery the next day and that meant getting up around five to help her dad with the morning bread (which was generous on his part, as she knew he’d be up at four). She fell asleep with her phone in her hand, still hoping for a goodnight text from Luka.

…which is probably why she jolted awake when her phone buzzed in her hand at…bleary eyes squinted at her lockscreen, the numbers of the clock swimming into focus. 23:42. Almost midnight – who…?

WIP Wednesday: 7/8/20

I was hoping to have this one done today, but...guys it was only Tuesday and had already been a WEEK.  The fic itself is fighting me, and life has been fighting me.  So here’s a preview of what I’m playing fighting with...

There was a nervous sort of energy thrumming beneath her skin.  An anxious buzzing.  Her sketchbook lay open and untouched on her lap.  Her pencil tapped an agitated staccato against the page, eager to move, to create, but…there was nothing.

There hadn’t been anything for a while now.

Marinette pushed out a breath in a heavy sigh and looked up, her eyes staring listlessly out across the lawn of the Trocadéro.  This place used to make her happy.  Before.

The Trocadéro breathed life.  It had always been an endless source of inspiration for her. She had lost track of how many hours, how many days she had spent on these very steps, filling sketchbook after sketchbook with countless designs inspired by the things she saw here

There, by the fountains, were the tourists taking a selfie.  Before, she would see their bright smiles and the play of water behind them and see swirling, dazzling skirts the palest shade of blue. André’s cart was parked at the top of the steps on the other side of the lawn, a line of couples already queueing for their Sweetheart Ice Creams. Before, she would see the lovesick expressions and think of sweetheart necklines, pale pink dresses that would burn orange in the sunset and glow white with the moonlight.  M. Ramier tossed breadcrumbs to his beloved pigeons a few benches away, a gaggle of kids giggling as they reached tiny hands into the bag to help.  Before, she would see a little hood with kitty ears, or maybe even a frog with wide, innocent eyes staring from the top of unruly curls.

But that was before.

This place used to make her happy.

Now, it just made her sad.

She had filled entire sketchbooks on these very same steps.  Before.

Now, she was struggling to fill a single page.

Before, she had hidden behind that column, waiting for the perfect opportunity to tell Adrien how she really felt.  And when he had actually offered her a ride home, she had blundered something about couscous and waved him on.  Before, she had sat in her room with the girls and plotted and schemed time after time how they would hunt down André and invite Adrien – a group outing with Nino and Alya, their best friends, so it wouldn’t be weird.  And when she had finally managed to get a Sweetheart Ice Cream with Adrien, André had given her one scrutinizing look, glanced at Adrien beside her, and dipped his scoop in the pistachio flavor before dropping it on the scoop of blackberry.  (She should have known then.  André always knew, and he had already told her her love would come with peach for his lips and mint for his eyes.   Adrien had never been a mint, anyway, and pistachio didn’t taste as good with blackberry.)  Before, she had dreamt and hoped of first dates and hamsters and three kids in a future that seemed so certain, if only she could speak.  And once she had finally spoken…

Loving Adrien Agreste had always been exhausting.  She didn’t know why she had expected that to change once they had actually started dating.

Her fingers tightened around her pencil, stopping the incessant tapping.  Her eyes burned, and she narrowed them in an attempt to keep from crying.  She wasn’t going to cry today.  She had promised herself that.

She looked back at the blank page, her pencil still hovering.  This was stupid. She had a job to do.  A commission…well, a favor to complete. She wasn’t supposed to be thinking about Adrien, not anymore.  She had wasted enough time thinking about Adrien the past few years.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket.  She hesitated only a moment before pulling it out.

JC: Hey.

JC: How goes it?

Marinette bit her lip.  Her thumbs hovered as uncertainly as her pencil.  There was nothing for Juleka, either.

JC: Band practice 2day. U coming?

No.  She didn’t think she was.

…she hadn’t been to band practice in a while.

JC: It’s just Ivan wants 2 c the new costumes.

JC: …we all do.

Her page was still blank.

The showcase they needed the costumes for was only a few weeks away.

She had nothing.

Her phone buzzed again.

LC: ignore her. take your time.

Her gut twisted.

LC: we’ll still be here when you’re ready.

LC: our current costumes are FINE.

LC: no rush.

She was still staring blankly at the screen, blinking against the burn of tears in her eyes, when another message came through.

LC: …i don’t want to ask if you’re ok.  you don’t have to say.  you know that.

LC: …but are you ok?

She almost threw her phone down the steps.  Instead, she muted it and shoved it deep inside her bag.

…she was a terrible person.

She had been avoiding all of them: Juleka, Rose, Ivan, Luka…especially Luka.  It was easier to avoid Ivan, who didn’t go to the same school as them anymore.  It was harder to avoid Juleka and Rose when they shared most of their seconde classes together.  Luka was…harder, in a way, to avoid.  She went to his school now.  They didn’t have any classes together, but they almost always had lunch with him. She always felt his eyes on her in the hall between classes.  He hovered on the periphery, like her pencil over the blank page.  Close enough that she knew he was there and concerned, but always respectful of her wishes.

He knew she needed time.

He knew how guilty she felt about…

Just like she knew he didn’t care.

That’s probably what made it all worse.

She was the one who had chosen Adrien, even as she had been getting closer and closer with Luka.  She was the one who had kept Luka in the background, a constant presence in her life, between time spent at the Liberty, time spent with the band, and time spent just because they were friends.  She was the one who always went to Luka with her problems, simply because he let her and he cared.  She was the one who had taken advantage of that, in the end.

…she was the one who had broken his heart, even as she was breaking her own.  Even if he would never tell her that, she knew that to be the case.

She had never stopped Adrien from his open affections around the older boy, after all. She had never tried to keep Luka away from the disaster that was quickly becoming the Adrienette ship.  She was friends with Luka, and so was Adrien, so even if Luka was in love with her he would be happy for his friends, right?  That’s what she had told herself, at least.  That’s what she’d tried to believe, even as time drug on and she realized more and more that Adrien had never really been in love with her, anyway.  Not the part of her she needed him to be.

Things were supposed to be easier when they revealed their identities.  Instead, it just ended up being one more thing Master Fu had been right about.

Her hand fisted around the spine of her sketchbook again, and with a frustrated cry she threw her pencil down the steps.  She curled in on herself, hugging her knees and taking deep, steadying breaths.

Adrien didn’t love her.  He never had.

And she was starting to think she had never really loved him, either.

So why did it still hurt so bad?

“Marinette?”

She froze, her fingers digging painfully hard into her sides.  Probably hard enough to bruise.  She knew that voice.

…she had been avoiding that voice, too.

“Are ye all right, lass?” Anarka Couffaine asked, kneeling onto the step beside her and laying a heavy hand on her shoulder.  She was sure it was supposed to be comforting.
