FIRST OF ALL HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Okay so I don't know anything abt your OCs, please tell me EVERYTHING. And what are their hobbies, their favorite places, what do they enjoy most in the world?

OH DAMN HAVE I NEVER POSTED ABT THEM HERE?? TIME TO CHANGE THAT

So my first one is Tara, she is of South Asian descent, specifically India, her great-grandparents immigrated to the UK and she lived near the west islands in Scotland. She’s wanted to go to space since she was little, she’s fascinated by that kind of stuff, and she’s studying at a nice college : )

Tara’s hobbies are doodling (just for fun, can be anything from people to plants) and gardening, she has a little windowsill garden of plants and herbs that she tends to carefully. They have names! She also like making star-maps of special occasions, she has one of what the stars looked like the night she was born that she worked very hard on.

Her favorite places is her home, where it was quiet and the air and sky was clearer. (If you’ve ever been to the UK you understand it’s disgusting fjgjjg 😔👊) However she does like the nearest city to her school, with a large library and a cafe close by. It’s a nice, quiet place to read or just vibe. The cafe knows her order when she comes in now hfgjfjgj.

The things she enjoys most in the world? That’s a bit tough lol, but she loves her family and her roommate (they’re close friends), and she is extremely passionate about her goals. She loves being high up and feeling the wind, she just like nature!! all of this makes it seem like she’s super quiet but honestly she’s a strong-willed, sometimes-prickly, confident person!

Other OC is Valeria, she/they are afro latina and lives in America (I haven’t decided where yet 😔) she’s a lot newer than Tara, but I love them so so much. They are v pastel punk, they make their own clothes! They’re less sure than Tara abt what they want to do as a career (they want to do a lot of things, it’s hard to pick) but they’re doing fine w their retail job atm, as fine as you can be in retail hfjggj

Val like sewing, crochet, and painting! They’ve got a spot in her apartment that’s reserved for painting, complete w plastic covering the walls and floor jcjggj. They’re good too, they like bright, abstract art, but they can paint a landscape like bob ross. They can also kick your ass at racing games, they’re the type of person to choose rainbow road bc they know they’ll win hfjfhkgj

I haven’t nailed down where they live yet, but Val likes a lot of places! But if you take them to an art museum you’ll be there all day HFJFG. They also like cafe’s, specifically locally owned ones. Parks are cool too, LOVES to see the dogs!

Val enjoys art, all kinds of art, SO much. It’s just cool! You make things! That’s so beautiful! They love their family and friends, hanging out w ppl they love is the highlight of their week.

And then we have Leon GJKCVJ. He diesnt count as an oc bc he’s based on Leon Kuwata from DR, but I’ve changed so much he’s not really that character anymore either lol. He’s schrodinger's character lmao

Leon’s hobbies are gaming, doodling (he likes markers the best) and writing shitty lyrics to songs he’ll never finish. He’s also a big fan of doing nothing

You’ll never get him to admit it, but he does actually like being outside. He doesnt like getting too hot, or sweaty, or bug-bitten, but he does like the freedom of being in a field and breathing free air. He also likes busy places like cities, he likes the aesthetic. He likes karaoke bars, and he’s been to quite a few mixers! He’s the type of person to invite his whole class at school, for the hell of it.

Leon enjoys freedom, specifically, what he thinks it is. He loves doing what he’s passionate about, whatever it is on a particular day. Despite this, music always remains something he can feel his soul connect to.

Van life!newsies headcanons

Hello, i have recently been obsessing and/or pining over living in a van/bus. So i will project my pining to my favorite pretty paper boys like what everyone does in the newsies fandom! Very healthy and smart idk lol so here’s my take on this au for each of my ships!

*i know some ppl might not agree with all these ships but these are just my personal favorites pls don’t come after me for something i like :)*

Javid

They converted an old american school bus

I actually have a headcanon that modern!jack comes from a rich family (maybe not the family his parents were born into but his parents worked pretty hard to be successful y’know) so that’s how they were able to buy an old school bus

So they were able to fit in a shower (not one of those foldable kinds) and a built in toilet. A pretty decent kitchen. A stove, oven, microwave, and all the other utilities necessary. Was able to fit both a washing machine and a dryer. Has a proper closet.

To fit davey’s needs, they put in a tiny book shelf. But it’s too tiny to fit in all of davey’s book (he’s got a shelf full) and was forced to give some of them away he cried a little. Jack did the same for his art supplies he cried a lot.

Jack is an illustrator and Davey is a writer. (Davey the hopeless romantic Jacobs mostly writes romance wow what a shocker) If Jack can find the time to paint on a canvas he will. It usually ends up getting sold which he doesn’t mind. 

Jack painted every inch of the bus exterior wow we’re all so shocked no we aren’t I lied :) "Jack why...” “We need to be festive when we travel, Dave!” *face palms*

They have one cat which is still nameless in my head so ://

Newsbians

They live in a school bus 

Kathrine’s a Pulitzer so you know how they can freely afford it (now that i think abt it i think old school busses sell for really cheap prices but idk) 

The shower and closet are a must have for Kathrine. She takes over most of the closet space and takes the longest in the shower. Sarah is a foodie so she built herself a whole kitchen and Kathrine is not allowed to touch anything without her permission. Even fitting in a huge fridge. They also fit in a proper working desk and a couch. Also made some sort of balcony on top of their bus so they can stargaze on top of there 

Kathrine is a reporter and Sarah is a physician in the telemedicine industry (she meets patients through video calls and such, not face to face) 

Morning coffee is a tradition for them at this point. They cannot drive the bus without having one cup of coffee 

They have two cats still nameless too ://

Ikeshot (lmao moving to my rarepairs so quickly. i mean i originally reserved the van life headcanon for them but i got too obsessed and now i’m writing this list hehe) 

They settled with a sprinter van 

it started just as an idea for their honeymoon to do a road trip around the us, but it ended up being longer than a hundred days of honeymoon and it turns into being their first proper room 

Their shower is built in and it can only fit one person. The bed takes up the whole back space. Their closet is kinda small but they don’t mind bcs Ike mostly lives in Hotshot’s clothes anyways. The kitchen is limited but they have a pullout barbeque at the back of their van, under their bed. Hotshot is a master at barbequing. 

Ike is a translator and interpreter. He also uses his hobby in crocheting to build a small business he makes cardigans :) (credit to @violetwolfraven for that little idea) Hotshot is an accountant. Very boring ik but i have a headcanon he’s good with numbers so that’s cool (well idk i feel like he’s good with math and economics) 

Bringing the playstation has always been a priority, so they built in a tv. They like to chill in the bed and play together. Mario kart is a ruthless game  

Occasional weird midnight dancing sessions is a tradition 

they have a cat named Sparks and a dog named Lewis. It’s a dalmatian which made Hotshot tempted to name him Spot :) 

*cut to a vicious argument between Spot and Hotshot which was also egged on by Ike and Race* 

Jomike (ok look i love my rarepairs alright pls let me ship in peace) 

They got a sprinter van 

Their kitchen took up most the space bcs mike and jojo are practically professional chefs. When asked to throw down in the kitchen, they will thRO W   D O W N

They even use a teal palette specifically for their kitchen. They have a one person shower but no built in toilet. a fair amount of plants as decoration. in the back of their van, they have a built in pull out dining table and two benches (built under their bed so they’d have to stop and open the back door to have a proper dinner) 

Jojo is a reporter and mike is a computer programmer. Their job requires a proper desk to work on so they just installed a foldable table in between their seats up front. 

their clothes are just stored in cabinets since they share anyways. it leaves a good amount of wall space to play a projector for netflix *cue the soft cuddling in bed* 

breakfast in bed is the most on brand thing for them to do 

they have a cat named Dixeleta. She’s an outdoor cat so they have fun doing outdoor activities together. Hiking, kayaking, etc. 

Sprace 

They live in an old sprinter van Spot got from an old family member

They have the type of bed that can turn into a living room (seats and table etc). They use a foldable shower bcs they want the space. Their kitchen can be extended out with a latch by their sliding door but that’s only when they need to use a stove and oven. Since they’re the type of people that just throws on the closest clothes they can grab they just use cabinets to store their clothes. 

ok i’ve mentioned it before about sprace but i’ll mention it again. They have three cats named Racecat, Spot Clawlon, and Romeow :D all named by race if you’re wondering. 

So Race is a social media manager and Spot is a physician in the telemedicine industry. 

They’re very lazy to constantly look for a coin laundry service. They make a schedule to do the laundry once a week but sometimes they just forget. 

Their first drive of the day will always include karaoke. They can’t tell whether their cats love or hate their singing voice most likely the latter but they’re in denial.

They cuddle each other in bed with their cats. While watching tv, to sleep, or just chilling together. 

Redfinch 

They got a mini bus

They have a built in shower, bathroom, and closet (not sure why since they don’t really care about their clothes all that much) They have a proper kitchen, fit a washing machine and dryer, plus a little seating area with a small table 

They have two big doberman named Zara and Zoey and a cat named Marbles. Pretty outdoor pets so they frequently take them out for hikes and such 

They have a ‘balcony’ on top of their mini bus to chill together. As in all five of them :)

Finch is a music producer and Albert is a photographer and videographer. Albert mostly works with tourist as their personal photographer, but he has land gigs with big companies/people. Finch works with a label that has given him to opportunity to work at home but sometime still need to stop by a studio to meet with artists or other producers. 

Finch only needs space to store his laptop, notebooks, and guitar (but he ends up hanging it on the wall anyways). Albert takes up a whole cabinet for all of his equipment. 

Not Finch waking up at an ungodly hour when a spark of inspiration comes to him, which ends up waking everyone in the bus. *cut to Albert furiously dragging him back to bed*

They installed a tv near their bed for playstation sessions or cuddling throughout a movie

Their driving karaoke is usually accompanied by their dogs which only tortures Marbles. She hides under the blanket to save her ears. smart cat hehe

Snipesmalls (Never wrote anything for them but I do love these girls :))

Sniper takes up most of the closet space, but it doesn’t matter because they share clothes anyways. A built in toilet and shower. Their kitchen has a navy blue theme to it. It was Smalls’ idea. They have a washing machine and dryer and also a proper dining table.

Sniper is a nurse in the telehealth industry (basically just like telemedicine but deals with more than just clinical services) and Smalls is a medical transcriptionist. 

They have an Australian Shepherd named Blue. It’s because of her blue eyes it’s so beautiful :O Blue likes to stick his head out while driving. 

They have a built in tv for their playstation and movies but sometimes they bring out the projector to watch while chilling outside. 

They have done the most traveling. Hopping from the US to Europe and Asia. 

They may like to share clothes but Sniper really likes to be fashionable wherever she goes. “Ok so since we’re planning to go hiking tomorrow, which hat should I use?” “Sniper, we’re hiking up a mountain, not a vogue fashion runway” “And so what if I pretend we are? Use your imagination babe! Now which one?” *sighing*

It is a nightmare to convince Sniper to give away some of their clothes She cries every time her clothes are being given away but gets happy when they go shopping for new ones and it’s the same cycle every time this happens  

They also like to go to music festivals and have picnics together 

Blush 

They live in a mini bus

They rarely buy clothes or give them away plus they share clothes so the closet is pretty small but hella messy because they’re lazy at folding their clothes away. A simple built in shower and also a foldable toilet. The kitchen is pretty equipped because Mush is a master chef. They have a little seating area with a table. Alternating as a working desk and dining table

Mush is a dietitian and Blink is a therapist, both in the telemedicine industry. 

Neither is allowed to drive if they haven’t gotten their morning coffee 

Mush is mostly then one doing the karaoke while Blink drives 

they like to have picnics together

goes to random concerts. it doesn’t need to be a really big artist. they’d simply be happy if they get tickets to any sort of concert. They prefer to see local underground artists to discover more music and such but they sometimes save up to watch big artists too. 

they’ve only been around the us and canada but are planning on going to other countries too 

Belmerttons 

they live in an old school bus 

So buttons is a huge fashionista so there is a proper closet and drawers that are mostly used by himself. A built in bathroom and the door has a mirror per buttons request. they also fit a washing machien and dryer in the bus per buttons request too. Their bed is full of decorative pillows and a few stuffed animals per elmer’s request. Their kitchen is small but does the trick. also has a little seating area with a table 

Buttons is a fashion stylist but also a designer. Elmer is a math tutor for all ages

they love going to different kind of events and festivals. one of the reasons why they wanted to live on the road in the first place 

to get buttons to give away his old clothes, elmer has to assure him it’s for a good cause bcs buttons loves all his clothes. Buttons still get a little sad and pouty when those days come but picks himself up again when elmer offers a disney movie night on the projector with some snacks

oh yes, they bring lots of snacks on the road 

They have a cat. still nameless soz 

the cat is very fluffy and sheds a lot. which is kind of a problem especially on buttons clothes 

“you’re lucky you have a cute face” -buttons while he’s cleaning the fur off his clothes 

Spromeo 

they live in a mini bus but kinda looks like a hippie van (idk how to describe it but it’s a mini bus with a hippie kind of style to it yknow) 

they have two separate areas in the bus. one up front where the driver and passenger seat is. also coupled with a tiny sofa and a table. that’s where they do their work and dine. very comfy and cozy. 

it’s seperated by a thin wooden wall. through the doorway is where the rest of their living quarters are. a bed, small kitchen but fully equipped, a shower, and foldable toilet. instead of a closet, they use a dresser since they don’t really have many clothes anyways 

so specs is a history teacher and tutor for all ages. (he’s a history nerd hehe). Romeo is a photographer and cinematographer. mostly a tourist photographer (kinda like albert yknow) 

specs likes reading history books, but he mostly does his reading on his tablet and laptop to save space. the same for romeo and comics btw 

their bed is full of pillows 

they have a cat named snowy. a lazy indoor cat. but she loves to cuddle with them in bed

they’ve also done some traveling to other countries. mostly neighboring countries but are dreaming of going to places in europe and asia. 

they enjoy doing lots of board games when they’re not driving 

romeo has a ukulele which he constantly uses to serenade to specs. sometimes to snowy but mostly specs

Az: Oh, there’s one I used to go to that was pretty cozy. It had a very warm, relaxed atmosphere with rich dark wood and lots of art hanging on the walls. I would sometimes go there to either sit on the couch and chat or sometimes even bring my sketchbook a couple of times and just draw for a bit. Very cozy place!

Sela: Oh!! there’s also a coffee shop that I sometimes go to w/ a rly cool harpy guy who doesn’t rly say much but he’s chill and always knows what my order is and i’ll often go there anytime i pass by just to sit and chat w/ the ppl there since everyone is so friendly and warm!!

Az: Hm... This one’s a bit difficult due to just having poor memory overall, but... If I remember correctly, there was a time that I was feeling really upset about something and having a lot of time getting words out at all, and... I don’t know, someone was holding me and she told me that it was okay, I could take as long as I needed, she wasn’t going anywhere, and... That felt really nice to hear. Even though I was still struggling a bit to convey what was going on, it felt like I really could just, take as long as I needed, and I wasn’t being rushed, and I was free to just lie in her arms for as long as it took to feel better. And... That was really nice to feel. I kind of struggle a lot with getting words out when I get upset, and so a lot of times it feels like I have to say something else people are gonna get even more worried, and... I don’t know, it was just really, really nice to just, lie there, completely vulnerable but completely safe, and not worry about a thing.

Anyway, uh, that got a lot more serious than you probably intended, but I hope I answered close enough. Memory’s really hard sometimes.

ok I have a lot bc I was there a whole 3 months and ive been remembering things abt it cuz of the time of year

the first ward I was in was the worst like honestly. nasti. it was like living in a waiting room, the sitting room had no sofas just like kinda padded wooden chairs and there were no real activities except "arts nd crafts" which was colouring in (god dont even). also they locked ppl in their rooms sometimes which was scary.

this sounds made up but I swear this was how it happened... the first person who talked to me after I arrived nd decided to go into the sitting room came up to me and asked me "are u happy?". I was still lowkey off my face recovering from an od and didnt kno what to say so I was like .. yes?? and he looked surprised like honestly????? so I was like no?? so he asked why and I must have looked bewildered cuz he was just like u dont wanna talk about it?? ok. and left me alone

the week I was there the ward was locked so we werent allowed out but there was a garden w a big wooden chair everyone called the schizo chair lol. I played cards w this guy who was actually an angel bless him he told me he made a genre of music called space techno and it was his dream to play piano in front of an audience. he made me a card and I have it on my wall.

while I was there there was a documentary on the bbc about how poor the standard of care was at this particular unit and we all sat round and watched it 🤪 it was p unsettling but thankfully I never experienced anything like what they were saying in the documentary and I heard a lot different opinions and experiences from a lot of different patients.

the 2nd ward I was in was nicer and a bit comfier and I met a lot of nice ppl. there was a woman who screamed a lot at night who I sort of became friends but I was a bit scared of her, I remember her letting me sit in the corner w her w all these towels and blankets and a bunch of junk like a pile of rubber bands and a vase and a toast rack??? and we put flowers in plastic bottles for some reason that I cant remember but I kept it by my bed with the sunflowers my parents gave me and we shot rubber bands at eachother which made me laugh and the nurses looked confused af. she let me come into her room and gave me this gross vegan turkey and we lay on the floor w our feet on her bed and looked out the window but I accidentally upset her by saying a word that triggered her and I had to leave her room. she saw me later on and hugged me and said it wasnt my fault.

there was a man who knew everything abt 80s pop like u could say any 80s pop song and hed tell u who sang it and the year and month it came out but he didnt rly understand social boundaries so hed come and hang out while my parents were there a lot. he also wanted to wear my clothes lol

I remembered the other day that I ended up putting my notebook in the shower after I wrote some trauma related stuff which makes me laugh to think about like god what a mental bitch

I was in the last ward in a different hospital like 2 months. it was by far the nicest one lol I had my 20th birthday there and my mum got me a stevie nicks hat and I just wore it around the ward cuz I thought well they think im crazy anyway so whatevs.

I went a progressively off the shits before my birthday (thought I was gonna die before then) and got sectioned twice, wouldnt sleep just paced around my room, stopped taking my meds which once they figured out they considered forcibly injecting me w antipsychs (thankfully they went against this on account of Mad Trauma), stole a butter knife and a pin badge and hid them in my room, got put on constant observation on account of crazy bitch shenanigans etc.

I was so determined to not take my meds that one time I had to fill out some form immediately after being given my meds and I kept it in my mouth the WHOLE TIME they were waiting for me to finish it. by the time they left it had mostly dissolved anyway lol.

I made friends w a woman in the first ward who got transferred to this hospital so it was nice to have someone I knew there. I still see her sometimes, shes from my town (not gon lie half my town was in that ward) and honestly she made the whole experience kind of bearable. she was always writing and playing music for us

there was a nurse there who helped me so much and I love him to bits and miss him every day, he was rly interested in basically preventing young ppl like me from ending up in hospital, he had rly cool tattoos and was bald w a big beard but had this soft irish accent and was rly kind and gentle. I remember him telling me one of the best things he ever did was getting over the hatred of disco music and when hes anxious he puts on disco music and dances lmao. also he taught me doing fake karate when ur anxious helps a lot.

I used to get dominos 2 for Tuesdays with this guy who wore a huge white leather jacket and told me eminem was going to give him a million pounds and he was going to use it to legalise weed and cure HIV and honestly I loved him sm he was real quiet and constantly paced up and down the corridors but he was rly nice to talk to. he hugged me sometimes which was nice too but the nurses werent keen on that

one of the nicest things was that there was a little garden outside this one visiting room and a couple of times my parents brought my dog with them to come see me and I got to sit in the garden and play with him

so boring to say i’m settling in but i am, i just wish there was something better to call it

there was somebody camped out in the back of the park across from our house down by the railroad tracks, on what we think is technically railroad property, and the parks department came today and tried to haul their shit away without a police order cuz “it’s just trash” no dude it’s a tent that’s someone’s home you leave it the fuck alone so Agatha screamed at them until they went away but then the cops came by & tagged it so now they have 3 days to move or the parks department’s allowed to come back & take their shit away

when we were trying to figure out whose site it so so we could reach out to them thru the drop-in center we noticed the tent was locked but had been cut open and the rain fly was ripped off and Agatha says it’s probably fine but it looked like somebody rolled their shit hella bad & i’m just worried about whoever it is, it looked like multiple people (or at least a guy and a girl) and i hope they’re okay like. physically

thanksgiving weekend launched me into the flare of the century i’m still not recovered from. i dared unpack my boxes of books yesterday (which were all small!! 6 free USPS boxes!!) and my knees had just. Had It. from that 20 minutes of activity. my wrists and elbows are flaring rly bad rn too & i had to buy ankle braces cuz my Achilles was already super fucked up from moving & like. whole body hurts.

i was limping around super bad at work--like unable to actually walk, just kinda toddling around in slow-mo if they needed me to move somewhere--and my manager made fun of me to my face IMITATING MY LIMP ON BLACK FRIDAY when i requested a break then my ASM and tenured keyholder ALSO made fun of me on Hell Saturday and i’m going to burn the entire store down

marina says report them to HR but that’s not very anarchist of me and i just don’t care enough to ruin their lives cuz it’s a temp job anyway and i can make it thru the holiday surely but it’s also like. i am the most able-bodied disabled person i know. i get more shit done in a day with 2 nonfunctional legs and fucked up arms and guts that are trying to escape my body and The Brain Fog TM than most people in full health do. if you’re being this awful to ME to my fkn FACE, ON THE CLOCK, how awful are you to “““actually disabled”““ ppl like out in the world on your free time

i just hate that there are no buses on sundays, no buses after 7, and i keep getting put on these dumb fucking late closes that mean either paying $15 for an Uber or walking the 3 miles home in the dark and the cold and some days i just physically Cannot with my Body and have to pay for the Uber which sucks ass cuz i’m making barely above federal minimum wage again

yesterday we hung out again (the coffee i was promised) and walked dogs with Kara in the cemetery and went to Kinko’s and the sketchy Halloween store that’s still open in fkn December and also made out, and then he was like “we should have an Actual Date For Real People” and i was like mfkr what?!?????? is that not???? no??????????????

so that occurred t o d a y cuz you can’t call me anything but efficient and spoiler alert, it was NOT a Real People Date, it was a fkn punk shitbag date, we definitely smashed then cuddled and tried to get Parsnip to interact with the other cat in a peaceful fashion and listened to Ministry and helped Agatha with the camp/park service situation and dealt with the cops when they showed up and had the aUDAciTY to park in front of our house to pull that shit then ran errands and cuddled and went to a Food Not Bombs meeting like. mfkr. that aint a date. that’s hanging out. how. is the prior 2 things with designated start times and wearing Nice Shirts and Going In Public Together Solo and shit not dates but tODaY was a date. fkn. WHAT

anyway he’s simple and sweet and hilarious and pro-SW anarcho communist and insanely hot and self-deprecating and i want to climb him like a tree but he too is divorced once over and we’ve Talked about it & it’s made me feel Better about my own shit & like. i want him to throw me through a brick wall and buy me food and leave me alone, and he’s in a non-monogamous relationship with one of Kara’s friends and his partner’s like “bro u need to date other ppl so i don’t feel bad” and y’know, that’s fuckin stellar imo. for me.

there’s some sort of Krampus parade thing this Saturday in which for $2 you can actually be beaten with sticks and the squad’s going to that and we’re all doing FNB on Sunday and i know aforementioned dude is gonna be there but also so is his partner so like. that’ll be Inch Resting. but. we’ll survive. ‘we’  meaning me.

i was in a real dark place this time last week and it only got worse over Hell Weekend, like. feeling directionless / unmotivated / isolated / lonely / traumatized / failure. it’s really been hitting me hard that i’m [redacted] years old & getting d*vorced & back in a punk house in a city i’d never set foot in before & working the shittiest shit job in the history of shit jobs and i’m never gonna see this person that was my best friend for so long again (cuz, y’know, i know i don’t talk abt the Private Life on here very often/in very concrete terms ~~this post being the exception~~ but. we were Best Friends. for a very long time) & i’m officially losing this friendship that meant so much to me and does mean so much to me, because i do care about him as a friend. like. fuck him as a spouse, he’s terrible at that, but as a friend i don’t want to see him struggling. which is bullshit. cuz he was abusing me and my life was a living goddamn hell in VA. but it’s hard to let go of the basis of the whole goddamn Ordeal to start with, and it’s hard to reconcile My Friend Whomst I Adore with My Ex-Husband Who Triggers Me On Purpose & Reads My Instagram Messages & Has Been Blackout Drunk For Months & Won’t Let Me Have Space Even In My Own Office, and it’s hard cuz the only people i know who’ve gone through something like this are dead. and all of that’s hitting at once. and i can put up with a lot of shit but i cannot put up with feeling like a failure within myself. and shit was truly fucking bleak.

so the whole social life thing just came at a good time y’know & even if things otherwise aren’t going the way i want there’s at least one good spot in my life. i got friends, i’m getting out of the house, i figured out where the good cemetery is, people are buying me food & talking me through all of this & rubbing the shaved part of my head & i’m happy

kara’s got a dr’s appt tmrw AM & the dude is apparently our designated Responsible Adult With Car so he’s picking her up from that & will be in my house once again tmrw morning & i fully plan on hiding in my room and pretending to be asleep cuz fuck that lmao don’t make me socialize i was not emotionally prepared for that

COMIC TEA PARTY- THURSDAY BOOK CLUB START!

Good evening, everyone~! This week’s Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing Daemon by Akreampuff~! (http://daemon.smackjeeves.com/)

Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. If you miss out on one of these prompts, you can find them pinned for the chat’s duration. Additionally, remember that while constructive criticism is allowed, our focus is fun and respectfully appreciating the comic. All that said, let’s begin!

QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?

my favorite scene is probably the one where billie transforms. this is largely due to it overcoming my expectations, cause a lot of transformation sequences are graceful or maybe even silly. even when demons are involved whether the demons be bad or good. this one though? this one looks terrifying to go through and i love. its such a cool illustrated scene too between the transitional effects and other sorts of kind of magical effects going around. http://daemon.smackjeeves.com/comics/2477610/page-25/

another scene i really enjoyed was the boat scene, specifically when the banter picks up. i appreciate that billie is not willing to trust zeke, but i also like how chill zeke is. i think it really shows off zeke's character in particular since it seems pretty clear hes empathizing with the situation.

Made it. I was gonna ask if you meant the transformation forwards or back, so I'm glad you put in the reference. Neither seem all that fun.

I rather liked when the door blew out due to the fire, sending Billie out into the tree. And I mean "like" as in it got to me, not "oh, that looks fun".

The boat and banter was kinda cool. I mostly liked it for the way it could slip in exposition elements in an entertaining way.

billie getting blown out of the house was a pretty said moment. although i did like this one page where its just debris and her hand http://daemon.smackjeeves.com/comics/2477607/page-22/ maybe im just a sucker for glass debris, but i really loved how it kind of slowed the moment so you could take in what just happened and then the next page really shows that hit and land(edited)

that is also true about the boat scene. the banter was a good balance to keep the exposition entertaining

Right, that's the page just after the one I was thinking of. But that was good too, I kind of pictured her as reaching for her mum but being blown back through the window.

I feel so bad for the mum. I think she was in it just enough to create some empathy. Part of me wonders if Dad came back and accidentally started the fire.

its never believe someone is dead until you see both their dead body and ghost

so i consider it highly possible the mom wasnt in the fire

Everyone probably thinks Billie died in the fire either way.

yeah im really curious how she expects to just go back. cause shes been gone long enough that someone probably noticed the fire and investigated and made assumptions. or for one of the supposed victims to turn up out of the blue is the height of suspicion

QUESTION 2. Overall, it’s very obvious Billie has a lot on her plate regarding her newfound demonic lineage. Emotionally, how do you think Billie will come to deal with her situation, both in regards to her heritage and her mother being dead? How long do you think it’ll take her to adjust (if ever)? Do you feel Billie will endeavor to learn to control her newfound powers after Zeke shows her some more? Or, do you feel Billie will return “home” and try to pretend everything is normal at first? Assuming Billie learns at some point, what sorts of things do you think she’ll learn power wise? Speaking of home, what do you think Billie is going to do in regards to that? Overall, how do you see Billie just dealing with the new situation in general?

Could just be a fear of the unknown. And she had that one blonde friend. Kinda.

I feel like one of the things Billie will ask eventually is where's Dad hanging out. I'm not sure if that will help her adjust but I think it'll help her sort some things out.

yeah im surprised insofar shes not the least bit curious about her dad. especially cause her dad must be well known since those medical daemons knew of him.

enough to even say like father like daughter basically

i feel like for a while, billie might emotionally not deal with. like especially if she stays in the caves, its a lot easier to put the events out of mind. or more i mean she might deal with the demon elements and come to accept that, but i think theres other things shell avoid and not hit her till later

Also might not immediately want to meet the guy who's supposedly part of this hybrid breeding program.

maybe what will inspire billie to meet her dad is anger. like in the sense she needs someone to lash out, and hes the secret demon father who made her and gave her demon blood and sort of got her into the situation.

Maybe the police will investigate and she can get a report to figure out how it all started. She might not be related to fire though, maybe she has powers of just making people uncomfortable, like she did to her classmates.

Maybe. Or maybe she meets him as a trainer and doesn't realize who he is until later.

somewhat off topic, but i really liked that one page on the boat that was all blue and white while zeke was talking about the daemons actually being good. the palette really made them see ethereal, but i like the contrast of how real colors make them look. like without that blue colored glass as it were, its kind of easy to see why someone would hmm if theyre good or bad.

yeah i kind of get the impression satan is that lady too

cause zeke did purposefully not use pronouns that i noticed

I did have a look at the link to the time lapse video on the colouring of one of the pages... interesting how it was flipped horizontally at a couple points, I've never thought of doing that.

Actually, lots of the bonus stuff is pretty fun. Like Zeke's alternate magical transformation, or the 100th page breaking the 4th wall.

Maybe Satan is also the librarian.

QUESTION 3. Vaguely, Zeke mentions that the hybrids were created because daemons needed something from humans. What do you think this thing daemons need is? Will Billie like the answer when she finds out, or is it going to be something that horrifies her? Why are the daemons so desperate they’d even create a breeding program to get it? The comic also talks a bit about the history of daemons. What do you think was said and done in the past to create such a negative view of daemons? What was even the purpose of making them so hated? Also, who was even the main perpetrator of these distortions? Ultimately, how do you believe both the history and the creation of hybrids will play into the story and the daemons’ goals?

Interesting, I guess part of me just thought what they needed was love and attention. But maybe there's something in the genes.

As to the negative view, probably propaganda by cults. Maybe a jilted ex-lover.

maybe it is love. i mean i dont consider it impossible. though i also would be concerned why daemons cant produce love naturally cause that has horrible implications

but speaking of angels, i assume the propaganda was theres. which i mean, if all daemons make ppl uncomfortable, it was probably easy to manipulate the world that way

cause of course youd assume ppl who make you uncomfy were evil

if i go with humans kill angels thing, it makes sense why theyd do it. cause if humans dont like daemons anymore, there will be no alliance

Maybe a daemon can only be killed by a hybrid or something. They need one to go on a quest. Or the angel fight's a good one too.

Maybe the daemons have signed something like that they won't do stuff to angels, and so their hands are tied now that some angels have gone rogue. I wonder if there's half angels too.

Oooh. Maybe only hybrids can breed with angels?

I wonder if there's some actual humans who can do magic, or only hybrids.

Also, their program can't be too successful if they've only managed under 10 in something like 20+ years.

which either suggests 1) they really dont know much about the risks or what the consequences are so made a small sample size or 2) theyre afraid of there being too many hybrids

QUESTION 4. Besides the history of daemons, there are a few other mysteries floating about. Who do you think burnt down Billie’s house and for what goal? Was Zeke really not involved? Could it have been another daemon? How do you think Billie’s mother even ended up with a daemon? Did Billie’s mother really not know he was a daemon? Alternatively, if she knew, why didn’t she tell Billie? Do you think Billie will get to meet her father? If so, how do you foresee that going? Additionally, how do you think it will go when Billie meets the other hybrids? Will she find newfound friends, or is she doomed to be alone? In general, what future events do you see happening in the comic?

they could be from the same region. maybe theres something in the water. but tbh it could just be a coincidence. i dont see why not.

I'm kinda curious to see the other hybrids. The author must have kinda figured them out, they were shown in silhouette early on.

idk if i ship billie and zeke yet. im not sure i trust zeke. not cause i think hes up to something, but he seems creepily loyal to the daemons to the point i wouldnt trust him to have unbiased decision making

Billie hasn't totally trusted him for that reason though, so I feel like the lampshading makes it possible. Though if he's meant to be her mentor/trainer, maybe not.

Kinda related, maybe Billie will want to stay just because everyone around now won't have that bad vibe she gave to the other students.

Day 28 - 11:06

I can’t believe I’m writing this from my own room...

- I actually woke up early today (7:00) without an alarm. I think my body knew that it was a big day. I went through my morning routine, packed some more, then headed to breakfast. for once, almost the entire squad was assembled at 8:00. 

- bfast: strawberry crepes, hash browns, fruit

first time I cried today. one of my friends wrote me a handwritten note and two others wrote me poems. I read them at the bfast table and collapsed into tears. I love these people all so much.

- group photo in front of the calarts blue wall! plus a profile pic for me :) 

- last of packing for me. the room looked so bare :(

- down to sublevels for more group pictures! our squad is better than yours (Don’t Ya Wish U Were Us)

- 10:00 = last creative writing event, graduation ceremony. this entire thing made me so unbelievably emo. essentially, all of the teachers singled out each student with a few sentences before handing out certificates and medals. I started crying for other ppl and I basically didn’t stop crying throughout the ceremony. Adrianna said the nicest things about me but I can’t even remember most of it bc I was just crying through it. after everyone had been addressed, we had half an hour to hang out with our department. which just became more of a cry fest with everyone hugging everyone else. we were all one giant mess of tears. this entire group of 75 ppl has really become like a family, even though I don’t personally know everyone. only we will ever really know what these past 4 weeks have been like, and what a special bond that is.

- my group of friends decided to stop festering in tears and went back down to the sublevels to hang out amidst ourselves. only we just started crying more bc someone decided it was a good idea to give a speech that made us all ball. and then another of my friends followed with her own address. my eyes started to hurt bc I was crying so much.

- lunch: burger, fries, cookie

this is my last meal at csssa. holy shit.

- closing remarks by michael fields. they aren’t kidding when they say he is an outstanding public speaker. everything he said was so motivational and I am so proud to be a part of this csssa community. I have gained so much from this experience and I want to keep contributing back to my art. I held it together for the most part until he said that csssa 2017 was officially over and “don’t stop believing” started to play and beach balls rained down. then the floodgates opened and didn’t close for a solid fifteen minutes. more hugging ensued, and I don’t understand how i’m not out of tears yet. I got to meet one of my friend’s parents, which was kinda cool.

- back to dorm for final check, returning key. then we ran back out to take a final group picture, only not everyone showed up in time. we had some final words and hugs and then my roommate and I sprinted back to dorms to get our luggage and head to the curb to wait for the shuttle, since we were already late. only we really weren’t, considering the fact that the shuttle didn’t arrive for another 30 minutes and we were stuck waiting in the heat. I think that was probably the reason I started to feel sick right as the shuttles finally arrived. my vision felt blurred and brightened, like a filter. it was weird. also my head hurt and I felt slightly nauseous. luckily, I was able to get on the bus pretty quickly, and after a couple of minutes hunched over in my seat I felt better. the rest of the drive went pretty smoothly, save for the moment I thought I lost my earphones (I didn’t.) 

- baggage check-in and security at the airport went pretty quickly and I got to the gate with more than an hour to spare. I met another csssa student (animation) and we started talking. she offered me dried mangoes, so basically she’s the best. slowly but surely, other csssa students started to join us. I really hadn’t talked to some of them at all, but in that limited time we all bonded over interesting stories and shared experiences. the plane ended up being delayed a little over an hour. during that time, I treated myself to a matcha green tea latte, a caramel apple lollipop, and more dried mango than I should’ve had. 

- finally we boarded the plane, and I sat next to two of the csssa students I had been talking to. the flight was quick and easy, and I listened to music the whole way through. once the plane landed, we all walked to baggage claim together. I lowkey chased my suitcase around the conveyer belt before finally getting it off. after that, I waited for a while for my parents to arrive. 

- car ride home was nice. I do really love my family, and it was so good to see them again after a month. I regaled them with all sorts of stories, although it’s impossible to sum up an experiences such as csssa. even though i’m a creative writing student, there are no words.

- dinner = Chinese food!! yassss I've missed thissss

- I've just been chilling - I tried on the clothes that i’d bought online before csssa started, watched some youtube, scrolled through social media, talked to my brother. i’ll admit, being in the comfort of my own home is pretty nice.

that’s it. csssa 2017 is over. I still can’t really believe it. this month has no doubt been one of the best of my life. I've made friends faster and deeper that ever before. I've grown as a writer and a human being. I've learned and challenged and experienced. i’ll forever be grateful to this program. that’s a wrap from my “daily“ blog entries, but please do feel free to ask me any questions! i’d be happy to answer them, even if I will no longer be updating this tumblr. thanks to all those who have read and stuck with me. <3

idk which one of ya sneaky bastards sent this but i’m not gonna complain b/c i will take any possible opportunity to gush about my friends.

update: this got entirely out of hand and i just wrote about like... everyone i talk to. if u talk just ctrl + f ur name (but don’t feel bad if you’re not in here b/c i’m doing this off the top of my head and can’t remember everyone!! also a lot of these are hs friends who don’t have tumblrs but u asked anon so)

i honestly love them all for different reasons tho!! i’m not going to tag everyone but: thanh is great for a straightforward answer & we have the same awful sense of humor which is basically 8 years of memes to reference (also she says no romo a lot which i find rly funny for some reason??). hannah is super loving and supportive and always looking out for me. jessie is wry and clever and honestly has every reason to get annoyed at me 24/7 but somehow doesn’t. whitten i talk to every day and is super rational about my problems which is helpful when i need solutions (also dank memes). gaby is great b/c we both have a lot of the same interests (feminism, art, fashion, shit-talking ppl, etc) and gets riled up about my problems which is great when i need someone to get angry with. colette also gets angry, usually angrier than me, about my problems and is the best person to offer to beat boys up (b/c i know if she gets drunk enough she will fight anyone). kathleen is great b/c we always end up doing something ridiculous and it’s fun and makes a good story. brooke is the fucking funniest person i have ever met and thinks she’s punk rock but is secretly boujee as fuck. amber also thinks she’s punk rock, but has the softest, purest heart of gold of anyone i’ve ever met (also she comes up with the most ridiculously hilarious ways to proposition me). claire and i can talk about absolutely anything and send each other close ups of pimples but also take nudes of eachother and honestly if thats not true friendship then what is?? sofie is honestly brilliant and always has clever comments to make and i’m lowkey in love with her to this day and i mean, if you’re not a little in love with your friends wyd?? mila is so sweet and i can have fun with her doing anything, like we don’t even need to go anywhere we can just have philosophical talks on my bed and it’s chill. sammy and i have only chilled irl once but she’s really quiet and nice but occasionally makes rly snarky comments about straight ppl which are hilarious. lucy is never on skype but when she is we have a fuckin field day and she’s so petty but like... in a funny way? i’ve only hung out with andie once (which i’m trying to change before she goes back to vegas) but she’s so into musical theatre and i love reading her tweets about it b/c i love how passionate she is! dylan makes awful decisions on the daily like... blowjob competition? rly dyn? and it’s so funny to hear about and he gives ridiculous but funny advice and is super australian and always says “bruv” which is super funny to me. jenna i’m p sure is going to be running the world in two years (also holy shit she’s graduating college?? my bb girl is growing up :’)). adja is so funny b/c i thought she was super by the rules in hs but now she’s a wild child. aidan (as in the senior in hs, not the one my age) sends me #relatable memes and even tho we don’t talk often it gets deep as shit when we do (but i lowkey don’t trust him b/c of his opinions of iron fist smh). allie is in my race & ethnicity class and is just nice all around and we DM eachother on twitter sometimes like ‘what was that awful presentation in class’). nick from polisci is so knowledgeable about politics but makes the issues funny w/o being offensive and shannon (also from polisci) dresses rly cute and we have fun conversations & the three of us have a funny group chat for our presentation. quinn is such a wannabe edgelord but is honestly so pure and a good friend. asmaa is the sweetest possible person and we always tease quinn together. ricky continously gives me a hard time about everything but in a funny way and patiently explains WoW lore to me. bea (her full name is béatrice for some reason? i cant remember why beatrice but its cute anyway): she’s one of the youngest, shes like 21 (thhey’re all adults its like when you were in middle school and you’d play games and you’d be a cool adult girl? thats it thats me and my ocs). she’s an artist and she takes some art classes but she’s actually not very good at art? she has been training for years but she doesnt really have any techniques or style and people usually dont like her style but she’s really good in the way that? she does fun things when she feels like it, its not always good but it has a lot of feelings into it (i love her)! since she cant make any cash out art she works part time at a local mcdo, she does birthday party and she dresses as a clown and she hates it (she really likes clowns and children and junk food but the job is exhausting). also she’s a weird girl i guess? she’s the “danny devito but lesbian” oc i was talking about (it doesnt make sense but it kind of does)… she’s really inappropriate (she’s not rude thho shes a sweet gal) she doesnt have any filters so she says most of the thing that cross her mind without really thinking? she feels a lot, she has a loooot of emotions so it gets confusing and weird sometimes, she’s a mix of a lot of things! she really like jokes too, she’s a funny girl! she really like comedies and simple things, she still watches d.isney ch/annel like she’ll rarely make an effort to watch a drama! she really hates pretentious content or things that are considered as the top of our society’s culture, she finds those things boring and lifeless …. bea is really funny and she has a lot of emotions and love! 

fahra: i dont? really have that much about fahra to be honest she’s mostly concepts in my head (i still love her i love my vague girl) basically she’s bea’s cousin and she lives with bea and her mom since she was seven; she used to live with her parents in the u.k but both of her parents died in a car accident (i have this really vague idea that maybe her parents were starting to be famous singer so they have this kind of fallen legends aspect? and fahra’s mom is really charming and charismatic! i think fahra was raised around a lot of music and art and fashion and just? her mom’s charming old maghrebi singer aesthetic). she’s very? i used to say that she was fake mean but i think she’s not really fake mean its mostly that she doesnt trust people and she’s just a discreet girl who love judging people; she kind of built walls around her, she’s very afraid that ppl will judge her back! she really like making fun of people but she’s really protective, she loves her friends and the people she cares about; like i said she doesnt trust/open up easily so her entourage is very very important to her. she’s kind of like? a di/sney villain (like cruella? she’s mean but she stays elegant) except she’s a nice person with only good intentions and that most of the time she’s just joking around… she really like fashion (i used to say she was emo and tbh? shes like couture em.o, she definitely used to be e.mo in middle school)… she acts really mysterious and everything, its her thing, she wants people to see her as the protagonist of drama about coming out of age or something… also she really enjoys watching bad movies with bea, they’re really close (basically sisters tbh)…

solange is really cool she’s just a really cool girl? she’s fahra’s best friend and mary’s best friend (mary’s the last oc) which is probably another example of how cool and friendly she is! most people will consider her as an extremely sweet and sincere girl, she’s like? when you were younger and you tried to act super sophisticated like a princess? that’s solange except its not an act and she really acts like that naturally! she’s very princess-ish but she’s not like. just sweet cute boring, she’s very funny; you know tjose people who make jokes and they’re so subtle you’re not sure if its a joke or not? thats solange, her jokes are really absurd (like bea’s, they kind of have that goofy side in common and they both really get along for tht).. she’s really into that full ride or die aesthetic thing like she’ll show up at your birthday wearing pink fur and seven crystal necklace because she felt like it.. also she doesnt know anything abt astrology but she seems like the kind of girl who would so sometimes she just throws fake infos tht she invented abt signs and everyone agrees with her? people trust her easily which is 100% normal since she’s the best girl in the universe but also? shes not fahra’s best friend for nothing, she likes making fun of people too she kind of like messing w/people like just making up lies or acting dumb in front of ppl who dont know her well just to make her closest friend laugh…. back to the fashion thing, in high school she would show up with outfits that dont make any sense and she had terrible tastes but everyone loved her and thought she was the coolest.. she can wear ugly clothes but it’ll look amazing and trendy on her because she knows she’s cute? she has the biggest heart and she has so so so much love for her closest friends

mary has? no idea what’s going ever. she’s that feeling where you leave the house with only two hours of sleep but human and gay gheqsjk… she moved in with solange and her mom during her high school years because her family is awful and abusive. she’s solange’s oldest friend, they’re very, very close and they both trust+love each other so much!!! they know everything about each other and they both get very different when they’re around each other; mary is very shy and she doesnt like talking because she gets easily confused or lost in her thoughts but when she’s with solange she completely lost that anxiety and they both get super loud around each other (power of friendship). she’s a mess to be honest, she doesn’t have passions or anything she’s very lost in her life but she’s not unhappy either she just doesnt know what she’s doing? also she’s very good with others especially with people she cares about, i thinks its her favorite thing, she’s very good at understanding others? its very surprising coming from her but since she spends a lot of her time in her own head and she’s easily distracted she likes to focus on the people she knows to keep ground???? she hates talking but that doesnt mean she’s helpless with human contact, shes probably the best among my ocs…. she has big crush on bea whom she first saw at mc/do while she was wearing her clown outfit.

also i have the solange’s mom and hafidda (bea’s mom) but im too lazy to write a lot abt them but basically i love those cool old lady…. haffidda spends 70% of her time in pajamas no one knows how she gets away with it; shes like homer simp/sons but clever and cooler, she’s always there for young ppl and she’s very open minded..

solange’s mom is super cool, she’s very energetic? she’s the cool aunt except she’s also a mom… she loves to travel, her and solange’s dad used to travel a lot! she also lived on a boat for a while shes really cool… she divorced with solange’s dad when solange was 13 (they get along super great they just didnt felt the Spark anymore) and she has been in a relationship with another old woman (cool old bi woman!!!!!!! i love the moms gfuhdsjkq)..
