Downfall has only just started, but already I'm deeply curious what Bells Hells reaction will be to seeing it play out. I've mentioned before that I suspect the dislike or outright disdain some of the party feels for the gods - most notably Ashton and Laudna, but also Imogen at times - is in part a product of the gods being so distant as to not feel like real people to them, and therefore being easy scapegoats.

It’s easy to see the mortal victims of Ludinus and the Vanguard as just that: victims. The Hells have met them, have been them. They have not seen or felt the gods suffer in the same way. Laudna even went so far as to blame the gods for mortal deaths and suffering after the solstice, even as the gods are the ones under attack. They feel uniquely abandoned by the world, and it's easy to blame these distant, powerful figures for their hardship. Certainly much easier than to see the mortal systems that enabled their harm, or to actively seek improvement on their own.

But to see the gods now, not just as people but as mortals, with all the flaws and vulnerabilities and fears of any of the Hells, with loved ones of their own and the same desperate sense of self-preservation as any living thing, will they be able to hold onto the disdain that they’ve clung to for so long?

#okay I've already made the case for Ara & Vris blackrom but for Kan auspisticism I think that Vriska would get her involved thinking that #Kan would take her side often and be a bit of a pushover but by the time they're all grown up Kan has been dealing with Rose for years and #grubs. Her patience is much thinner than their youth. She also Works Out which Vris doesn't and Kan ends up figuring out that just picking #Vriska up and moving her to another room makes her calm down the fastest. #the thing with punching bag characters (atleast the ones that rise to my faves) like Skinner is that I want them to be happy #but they're so goddamn easy to bully and traumatize even further. I kinda get infected by the same thought process the show writers get #I want to slam him into a locker for a joke and at the same time I want him to get away from his situation and move onto a happier one #and I know they're super contradictory desires to have but it's just the versatility characters like him exude #by the nature of their personalities vs their living situation. Skinner can be so goofy and joyous in his nerdiness and that's adorable #and yet he seems so entrenched in the idea that Agnes is all he has that he doesn't even seem to register most of her behavior as abuse #and something to get away from. and that's so upsetting. So I l’ve been getting into your ko crisis story lately (it all sounds rlly awesome btw) and i was curious - you’ve said in the tags in a previous ask that ash is comphet, so is that gonna play a major role in her character arc/journey in any way?

Yeah, the story basically covers her journey of redefining her identity as a queer Asian-American disabled woman in a sports-entertainment industry, which is a media landscape that specifically targets, exploits, and fetishizes people like her.

#ask me #itsthequeercryptid #i don't have much more to say on this cuz as of right now it's in like. early early development process and i'm not a queer woman so #i don't have much authority to say how i want this part of the story to go. even if it's my story i don't wanna set anything in stone yknow #but like. ashley's arc is realizing that she's been performing to appease people both in and out of her life. as both a daughter and a #pro boxer. and that she shouldn't have to force herself to be someone she's not. which in the story continuously hurts her #she doesn't need to validate her existence and find worthiness as a disabled and queer woman #especially to other people #one story beat i drafted is that ashley nearly gets s/a'd by a potential agent (keep in mind the project's inspired by psychological dramas #thrillers like utena and perfect blue) and it's one of the first big moments that causes her to have a crisis of identity #growing less and less comfortable in her skin - both organic and nonorganic - as she realizes how her body is perceived/ exploited/#/objectified as a vehicle for inflicting and absorbing violence. both physical and sexual. especially by men #and near the end of the story the beat is reflected/flipped when she comes together with noora and it's gentle and intimate #but again this is all very iffy. i'm not sure how appropriate this would be as a male writer.#i'm waiting to work with other writers who are more knowledgable on this before moving forward with anything
