i don't have an art tutorial tag, i feel like my approach to drawing is very haphazard haha. i have rambled a bit in response to some asks tho, here and here!

for bw stuff, i find it's helpful to really have a clear of idea of what you actually want to highlight with your tones so you can look at the image as a whole and see if the right things are jumping out at you or if the wrong things have too much contrast/are pulling too much attention.

the other thing i'm always doing is completely winging incorrect lighting sources for the sake of the Drama of the jpg 👍

How do you find new books to read? Most people I ask say booktok, which sorry if I'm wrong but I assumed you wouldn't use, and I haven't had good results from trying booktok.

no i don't use booktok or tiktok in general. in fact, i have a very old man yells at cloud attitude towards it lol. i do watch lots of booktube tho and get some recs from there, however it's important to remember: many people are hyping up a book >> probably not a good rec🙅‍♀️ "if so many people like it i might like it too" that's the fomo devil talking! one booktuber is swearing by a book you have never heard of and gushing about it in their every other video >> probably a good rec👍that's how i came across the aurelian cycle and the winnowing flame. idk maybe it works on booktok the same way if you follow the right people but. i don't trust that app😅

other recs i get from my trusted mutuals on tumblr bc these are people who enjoy the same type of sophisticated literature as i do so when one of them mentions they read and liked a book my interest is peaked. when they constantly mention it it has the same effect as when your mutual reblogs three gifsets of a show - now you just have to watch it bc you know from previous experience you will likely enjoy it. i think i first heard of doctrine of labyrinths in worldhoppers' underrated fantasy video but it would've sat on my goodreads tbr forlornly till the end of time had i not found out that it's popular with the lymond crowd - no rec is more reliable than that😌

finally, good book recs tend to come from obscure rec lists i perused on tumblr or on goodreads or on some old-fashioned book blog several years ago, added them to my tbr and then forgot. but bc i like to update my tbr regularly i go through the 1000+ books i have on goodreads each year in order to decide if i want to move them up my priority list and inevitably discover some hidden gems i scavenged this way back when i was getting back into reading. for example, i found the dreamhealers series and the memoirs of lady trent on the aroace characters database and i found nino cipri's litenverse on one of the numerous queer sff rec lists here on tumblr.

generally tho there is no perfect source of book recs that works all the time. understanding your own tastes and choosing books accordingly is a skill you develop by trial and error and no matter how good you get at curating your reading many books you pick up will likely disappoint you nonetheless🤷‍♀️

Detailed guidelines/suggestions post

Hey there! I shop for a lot of ocs to draw on art fight, but you're more than welcome and encouraged to shoot a request in my inbox-- I just make no guarantees I'll get to it.

You can truly freeball it and shoot reqs into my inbox like a medieval catapult on fire, but very optionally if you're curious, I wrote some in depth outlines for what makes it easier on me!

1.Submissions

Exact vehicle of submissions, ideally, is a message in my askbox with a link to a social media post, art fight page, toyhouse, or other page with pics of your oc in one easy place with a text description of more info like their name etc

Second-best preferred is using the submission function to deliver the same thing (several images + text details). No minimum or maximum, if you only have one reference thats totally fine!! But the more you tell/show me, the more i can appreciate them <3

There’s no wrong way to do it! The listed above are just what I prefer, but as long as I have access to at least one good reference, we’re all set 👍

1.Visuals

Of course, full bodies help the most. If you have an all angles reference sheet, it's great to include it. References of their visual world like scenery, magic or tech VFX, visual language... The more rich your references, the more material for me to latch onto and likely more excited I get abt it! I really love character work in my illustration, IE showing their personality through face and body language, so the more you tell me about who they are, the better. Pinterest boards make me go absolutely nutso and greatly multiply the chances I'll want to draw it! :D

Conversely, the less specific you are with the actual content of your request, the more likely I'll draw it. If you dump a rich library of references with no spef requests, I'll get to interpret it the way I have the most fun with! Yay! You can get specific (ex., 'please draw these two OCs studying together at the National Library of Congress') but it may make it harder for me to get to if it's out of my usual range.

Here's an example of an absolutely enticing request that got all my creative gears turning for a fully rendered piece! Note it has a variety of references, some backstory, and a couple alternate medias like a playlist and a pinboard. (This is above and beyond though, and not at all required!)

2. Limits

I won't draw NSFW or extreme body horror/gore (some light horror/injury is cool, though) so please refrain from putting those in my inbox as well. I'm ok with mechas (tho tend to interpret them liberally)

There's no hard max character limit, but to be level with you the odds I draw a req diminish greatly above 2, and go to near-zero at 3 or 4 chars.

3. Disclaimer

Also, on the subject of limits, this is your reminder that a request does not guarantee I draw it. I started this blog because I really like drawing OCs, but its still true that not everything strikes my inspiration. Not at all a reflection of your lovely amazing characters, but more of the fact I have specific taste, like anyone else! I will not be going through every req in chronological order. I may draw one from a long time ago, and then one from today. I may stop doing requests for a bit and just pull from Art Fight bookmarks that inspire me. Please don't resubmit the same req/char, but feel free to submit multiple different chars!

Hi!! Okay so this is a bit of a weird ask (??) but I just went on a ~trip~ through your blog and thought you'd like to know. Maybe. Possibly.

you are correct, TFM is gone 😭 i deleted it from tumblr and AO3 because i was unhappy with my writing and where the story was going. i was excited for it, and then everything kinda fell apart. I'm sorry!! a lot of people got mad at me for that LMFAO, but i really grew to hate that series, and i figured it would be better to just delete it. i didn't delete the actual fic tho. like i have all my writing saved. i've considered rewriting it to be yoonmin instead of a reader-insert cuz i lowkey hate writing reader-inserts but i still do it for my tumblr followers hjsdfks but that is TBD

6: something you see in art a lot and love

i think some of my favorite things are The Dark Lord's fan designs resembling a spider (which admittedly i'm also guilty of), the various hairstyles i see, and SC being short (which is canon but it's so funny to me... 🤝 we are both short)

my favorite hair designs are probably King and Purple with braids and Green with dreads :]

i COULD say Mystic made my experience better simply by tolerating my nonsense but i have a feeling that's not what this ask is supposed to be about lol--

if i had to pick, karmesean probably would be my main decision! runaway au is heartbreaking and also unbearably cute and like, I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the ships since i imagine familial bonds for much of the main cast so it's very nice to have someone who creates content outside of that.

no shade to shippers i just personally can't stand shipping content sometimes considering how much shipping content gets shoved down my throat in any fandom at any given moment (<- aromantic)

25: how has fandom positively impacted your life?

i mean. i can't say much for ava in particular (other than it sends my animation nerd brain bark bark woof bark crazy) but in general? fandom literally saved my life. it helped me find some of my best friends ever when i was completely isolated due to mental illness when i was going through an extremely traumatic part of my life.

this isn't to say that fandom is always a healthy escape-- i was in a pretty small fandom in the time and larger fandoms have a case of being much more dangerous, and escapism can fuck up your brain pretty bad, but it's definitely changed my life for the better.

however you should probably take care to keep fandom separate from your real life, unless you don't have a real life like me 👍

all this to say like. fandom is great but practice healthy distancing, and try not to burn yourself out by doing stuff just for the attention of your peers. just have fun and chill

also either way like. disclaimer im not a professional on fandom spaces so please practice reasonable safety in fandom spaces. especially if you're a minor. i didn't and got preyed upon pretty bad in larger fandoms without realizing it so it is a genuine concern.

• I find the concept of Reginald being the flirt of the relationship making sense, but imagine how red in the face he would get if Right Hand tried it back, I'm sure my man wouldn't be able to handle it being thrown back at him.

• RIght Hand may be seen all stoic and such, but he's definitely the most tender out of the two. Reginald adores it when they get their moments alone, because Reg specifically gets to see the part of him that no one else on the Tophat clan does.

• Right Hand is the big spoon in the relationship and a MASSIVE cuddler, and Reg is all for it!

• Right Hand man's love language is acts of service and physical touch (obviously). Meanwhile Reginalds is gift giving and words of affirmation.

• Reginald adores kissing his husband's battle scars. And in my headcannon, Right has LOTS of them. Right finds it very therapeutic, especially the massive one he has on his face.

• They both usually put on a normal co-worker facade being both Leader and..well..Right hand respectfully, but almost everyone in the clan knows of their "Secret" relationship. They just pretend like they don't to keep up the "facade"

• Of course the most ticklish in the relationship is Reginald, he especially can't stand having his hips and waist touched. How Right hand man found this out is that they were slowdancing to their favorite record when Right Hand man squeezed a lil to hard.

• Reginalds laugh is loud and high pitched, even consisting of Squeaks and Snorts aplenty. Meanwhile Right hand man has low soft giggles and chuckles that usually gets emitted through a closed smile

• Despite what you might think, even with the Cybernetic enhancements, Right is still ticklish. Though that's a secret for only him and Reg to know >:)

• Both are terribly stubborn when it comes to staying up late to finish a task, of course one always tickles the other to get them to come to bed and sleep.

• When Right is feeling playful enough, he'll usually mess with Reginald while he's doing his important leaderal duties. Things like quick pokes to the side while doing morning announcements, or thigh squeezes while in the middle of meetings with the rest of the clan.

• Reginald will always go into a soft giggling fit whenever Right fluds him with soft kisses, it doesn't help when your husband has a scraggly and terribly tickly mustache. Right hand man likes to tease him while doing it too, saying things like "Wot's the giggles for love?" And "It's me stache innit?" Reg never tells him to stop though so he's left there giggling and squirming but enjoying it non the less.

Aaaaaaand with that, that's all the headcannons that I can pump out currently
