So I know this isn't anything that like actually needs an apology but it'll make me feel a bit better to say it. Oof whoops this ABoT chapter is super late. Timing kinda sucks since I wanted to have some updates out while s3 was airing but

Been kinda mega busy and stressed since October with the whole condo buying thing which rolled right into immediate day 0 plumbing and boiler issues I had to get fixed and general moving hassle and financial commitment stress and I kinda just fried myself hard. Plus then acclimating to a new place without my familiar street or familiar grocery store or familiar room or any of that. Like there's no "just go home and take your mind off it" to this cuz home is the "it". So I'm just kinda enduring until I can calm the hell down.

And anyway I definitely have progress on ch47, like 7000-ish words of it, but it's the kind of like "there is writing there" and hasn't exactly hit the "there is substance there" that I want ABoT chapters to be. Like this in particular is a chapter I want to be good, not just be done. So it's taking time to get my brain somewhere that can do that.

It's very interesting trying to find blogs to follow for cherry alive bc like. Things we like: pink, ribbons, flowers, pretty clothes, baked goods, cute things, fairies, feminine stuff, cottagecore aesthetics, etc etc etc

Things we DO NOT like: misogyny, thinspo, 'i'm just a girly girl who needs a boyfriend to take care of me' (and related), traumacore, lana del rey inspired stuff (her music's fine, the way it's been turned into an aesthetic online bothers me), nymphette stuff (Yikes TM), tradwife stuff (extra Yikes TM), etc etc etc

Like a lot of pink themed blogs have content we find viscerally upsetting and completely antithetical to what I'm trying to make this space into. On my former account I saw a lot of posts criticizing the whole "girlblogging girl dinner" thing but I didn't see a lot of the original content they were responding to. Now I've seen it and I do not like it! I like femininity and fairies and flowers and sunshine. One of my deepest desires in a relationship context is actually a dynamic that includes a certain amount of being taken care of. But like. In a chivalrous butch/femme way not a weird 'girls are incompetent' way. I like so many things that are aesthetically adjacent to a lot of stuff I hate, but at the same time completely opposite from it. Because for me it's about healing and embracing joy and whimsy and magic and sunshine and hope and art, and, to a certain extent, how that stuff interacts for me with gender and femininity and finding joy in my femininity again. It's not about this bizarre 'i'm just a weak little girl' and/or 'i'm a violent girl who's cutesy and cruel' or whatever all that nonsense is. It makes me so sad to see honestly. Like. Idk what you're doing, I'm having fun. You should maybe try it too.

I have decided to make posts to show my OCs color palette and aesthetic since I only do traditional drawing, so I hardly color my drawings. So this should help you guys to visualize my OCs a little better :)

This is Paige’s part!

Physical appearance:

His hair color and shape is just like this but a little bit longer (it reaches his hip). Also, his hair is 10x messier and thicker than that (he’s given up on detangling it). He keeps his hair in a single loose braid.

he’s about this pale, and his sling doesn’t gain color no matter how much time he spends under the sun.

he keeps his nails short, but they’re always painted black and well taken care of!

He wears black ear piercings on each ear that are extremely similar to these. The chain accessory is only on his right ear.

His eyes are a bright teal blue with thick (and I mean THICK) eyelashes. People often think he’s wearing eyeliner. He also has heavy eye bags from lack of sleep.

Fashion style:

If you can’t already tell, his outfits and aesthetics revolve around monotone colors, such as black, white, grey, and beige.

Also hoodies. You will never catch him without a hoodie, and they need to have mega pockets so he can fit all the random crap he like to carry around.

Oh the earphones. DO NOT FORGET THE EARPHONES.

i have a tendency to reblog posts about promoting one's own art and/or the importance of reblogging art, onto my art blog, as a sort of "wink wink nudge nudge i do have followers on this blog don't i" kind of thing

but whenever i do that, it feels as if people pay more attention to that than to my art

i know that's not literally true, i'm sure the note count does not actually rival or surpass a new art post, it only feels like a note spike because that blog posts so infrequently and therefore its activity is usually flat line, and reblogging the post made there Be Something There For People To Interact with

i guess it irks me anyway because i reblog it with the intent of "hey, look at the message of this post and where it is right now, mind giving my blog a scroll and maybe hitting a couple of green buttons" but it doesnt really work that way because people just see it in their dash. i constantly be reblogging shit with little if any awareness of which person i follow that i'm getting it from.

i just wish there was a way to be like, "hey, please give my art some attention, i work hard on this shit and it feels like there's at most about a classroom's worth--if that!--of people who care enough to show it to folks" without literally just being the annoying pushy attention-seeking bitch on the dashboard that's like "just fucking reblog my shit"

After almost 17 literal years, I'm finally planning to buy myself a new computer. Just waiting to get my income tax money in March. The dinosaur is still in decent working condition, but it's time to let her rest. She's served me very well over the past decade and a half, and it's going to be the hardest thing giving her up. But at this point it's time to upgrade
