However I can see this complaint arising from the scene in the game's day 3 where he says

I think the game shows many instances of him being cruel to YN, which i think is where the gap between the fanbase is.

As I've mentioned before, my writing is more focused towards Tumblr yb.

The difference between the personality and characteristics of yb in the game and in the Tumblr are large enough that I consider them separate characters, almost. Like a multi verse/spiderverse thing.

Seeing how YB develops over the years gives me a lot of mixed feelings..

Like I'm glad I get to see his house and more details of his life and that he's been getting more love from the fanbase .. and he's certainly been getting that cute treatment in terms of his looks (those pupils)

But then I open up the game and see how terrible things are going between him and YN, how much YN still hates him (I mean given their situation sure I get it) and just how... resentful and harsh he is to them in return..

It feels like a cursed monkey paw in a way. Like I'm glad he's growing but he's kinda turning into someone that I don't recognize compared to the man I fell in love in back in the blog days.

Of course there are many still in the fanbase who would disagree with me, but.. idk. Just venting I guess.

I read your post about YB, and I think that the reason why so many people in the fanbase are upset with his actions on Day 3 is because he doesn't behave as he was said to. Your Boyfriend has a blog that predates Day 3 by two and a half years. There's tons and tons of inconsistencies between his blog self and the game's. But it was stated there that despite everything, he does love Y/N and cares about their happiness, it's just that he also wants them to be happy with HIM.

I think you're mistaken on who wrote this post here since its by @videogamefandomdump, which is not at all written by me.

I've been following the original blog for quite a long time, basically when I started this blog in the first place (wow, has it really been two years already? 2020 feels like it didn't exist), so I'm pretty aware of what kind of stuff y0urb0yfriend usually entails. The general premise of the blog was essentially like Monkia from DDLC, where he loves the person on the other side of the screen, essentially loving everyone and only you at the same time (if that makes sense). A lot of it was his yearning to be with you, but not being able to because of the fact that he's... well, fictional. The tumblr itself is a lot more nsfw than the demo so far, filling in stuff like knife carvings, his past as emo, tongue, and dick size amongst other things, and also featured another character, y0urgirlfriend, who is similar to Peter, but not quite the same. There are some other things in there as well, but it's generally the premise of it.

I actually played the game fully for the first time (well, more like got my friend Cherry to do it for me while she streamed it, haha), since originally when it first came out, I only played one route of it before peacing out. It definitely is much different than the blog so far, with ybf being in the real world instead of being behind a screen. The game more or less comes down to the responses you have to him, whether you decide to lean into the more romantic implications, push him away or even berate his actions, which each giving him a different response. There's no sign of fourth-wall-breaking so far. though I do imagine that it will be a feature in the future, considering that's what the original tumblr was about. It was also surprisingly less horny than I thought it was going to be (I blame all the ybf fanart, since they depict him more as a dom for the most part, wherein reality according to his tumblr posts he's actually more of a switch, but whatever, I guess. Everyone really is horny for him, haha.), though I imagine since it's a horror erotic VN that erotic content will be coming up pretty soon. There are some easter eggs that allude more to the original posts, such as having disgust when being named Peter (which is what his creator called him, and he hates his creator), as well as mentioning yourgirlfriend and naming the creator's name itself will also yield a different reaction. I also recall that in his game a lot of the other characters will vie for the main character's attention, so I assume ybf will go straight on yandere for that, haha. For obvious reasons, I only know what happens on Day 1, so that's what I'll be basing everything onto, and everything else is simply speculation on my part.

Obviously, the post you're referring to is simply just an opinion, but I personally don't agree with the post either. From what I understand, the post mostly talks about how Peter is a bad person because of his actions of being a yandere/stalker and that he doesn't care about your feelings. Yanderes by definition are characters that are "sickly in love", meaning that do care about their loved one. The fact that these characters do things that are upsetting to their loved ones doesn't mean that they don't love them, but rather their methods of doing so are often not the best way to go about it. I'm assuming that by Day 3, ybf kidnaps the player, which is pretty standard for yandere stuff to be honest. I think that most people who play this game or understand the concept of yanderes do know that these kinds of behaviors are not good, but we enjoy the ideas in fiction or use them as a way to cope or relate to them (again, I relate this to how people will create murder ocs- obviously murder is bad, but the concept of them in fiction is interesting. This is generally how I think about yandere's). I also don't agree that sex is the only thing that ybf wants considering that if that were the case, he probably could find someone else more willing or easier to do it with him. That plus the content on the ybf tumblr very clearly shows that he also likes the romantic parts of the relationship and not simply just the sexual parts (though, that is a bonus).

Again though, that post is just an opinion, so it's fine to agree or disagree with it. I just thought it was interesting to read what kind of thoughts others hand on the game itself (that and I sort of absentmindedly reblogged it along with all the other fan art I did that day, so that's how it was.) Anyways, I hope that helps with my opinion on what that post is about.

im not gonna lie, I thought that xz and yb haven't shut down the bjyx topic because in my mind the bjyx fandom was the dominant one? As an outsider who doesn't dwell too much on fandoms im shocked that the solos fanbases are bigger than the cp one. Well, it's an interesting fact to know lol

bjyx is the biggest couple supertopic but individually they’re way more popular. xz’s individual fame is actually nuts, and is the reason he’s getting so much hate from fans of other idols and even other people in the industry because he came into the game so late without formal training (aka the “wrong” way to some people) but still exploded in popularity.  plus couple topics/shipping only really benefits if the company can get a lot of money out of it. it’s why band ships are so popular and encouraged cause it means fans are spending double the money in the same place. in cases of actors in dramas, it only benefits during the promotional time which is why a lot of these couples fall off (in the case of bl actors, the nature of those shows means they can’t interact as freely in public anyway). a lot of people can get super invested in couples and freak out when the couple breaks up (divorces get straight up nasty on w*ibo) or if they start dating others there can be a nasty backlash, so the business side of it basically takes advantage of the hype at its peak and then tries cut it off in time for the next promo. in the case of wyb and xz, they’re in different companies and likely won’t work together again for a long while, their individual fan bases don’t really get along, and there are ofc incidents where fans get too invested and overstep their boundaries. they really don’t need to indulge them for any reason or make any acknowledgement about bjyx anymore especially if it was really detrimental to their careers. but honestly if they haven’t swung a bat at that supertopic after a literal fic of them became national news i don’t know what it’ll take

Just gotta say it's nice to find fans who are OG and also a similar age to the boys cos fr I feel like the majority of the fam are like 14-16 (18 tops) and I'm out here the same age as the boys like ... Ahaha. And I do think it gives a different pov of their music to be their same age. Like, SGFG is my favourite, but ofc it is "immature". Nonetheless, a good half of the SGFG songs they could still perform today and it wouldn't sound weird for a mid 20s to perform (eg SOAU, V, OS, C22) 1/?

Like, dgmw, I adore JBH, but it's whole vibe is so teenage that I would have thought they would have dropped playing her by now (likewise with SKH...) Heck, even their early stuff they could still play and it not be weird (the exception of the obvious being like 18, KMKM, LB) but fan faves like WAYF or IYDK I don't think would be weird for them to play. They could also change the songs up a bit, too to make them sound more mature. Idk, it seems a waste if they plan to shift fully away. 2/?

They have a catalogue of what, over 100 songs? And seem to want to move away from all their early stuff when so much could still be played today. Yb is a great album, it's matured and you still have alot of SGFG (and even their 2014 EPs) vibes in there. So I'd say it's objectively my fave as I can understand the direction they took to mature to get there. CALM however I can't stand. It feels so try hard. I'm all forcreative expression but honestly can't stand the tinny RnB mix acoustic style 3/?

The mainstream complaint of the boys back in the day was that they were a boy band who were try hards to not be and to be punk rock when they aren't punks cos they don't have that edge to their attitude that punks do. But now they're very obviously trying sooo hard to be mainstream people don't seem to pick up on that. The whole RnB vibe when let's be real, it doesn't suit who they are at all. 4/?

Last one I swear sorry but I was just thinking about all this before I went to sleep aha. They claimed CALM was genre bending when it just doesn't work to be (while Yb was more so and actually worked) and also as tho that's unique to them when you have artists like Post Malone, YUNGBLUD and MGK out here executing genre bending incredibly well but that blatantly isn't their aim, they just make music they enjoy. Wish 5SOS could just reflect and do the same instead of being try hards.

Ok so, I think this last one goes with this grouping but I’m not sure? It’s not numbered and I technically already answered it but I’m throwing it in here anyways.

There are a lot of younger fans, I try not to judge them too much bc I was pretty young when I started listening to the guys, even tho I’m closer to their age. This being said there are definitely 15 year old fans out there being super problematic and immature on twt and everywhere else. The fandom was toxic way back when too tho, and there are people in their 30s, and mid twenties out here acting like immature disrespectful brats. You can find 16 y/os who are respectful of others, they may still have some growing up to do but I don’t think it’s fair to group alll younger fans into one category and all older fans into another. As I mentioned there are some pretty poorly behaved older fans out there, who flaunt their behaviour, as immature as it is. I think overall maturity is majorly lacking across all facets of the fandom. You’re lucky when you can find small pockets of it.

When we were on ST people liked to call us all sorts of names and sent us hate. And would turn around and say that we were so immature and hateful to Sierra. Reality is that we’ve never stooped that low, and we never will. We don’t post hate, we don’t send it and we don’t promote it.

As for age changing how people experience music, I tend to agree with you. There are certain songs that are attached to young experiences of mine. I think self-titled is the most immature, Amnesia makes me think about my high school heartbreak. I can’t relate it to my current life at all. I don’t really think SGFG is that immature, a part from the name. I think they just had a lot of other influences. I disagree that JBH has a teenage vibe to it. I would say for songs like Money, SKH, and Hey Everybody, or Gotta Get Out, Social Casualty, Reject etc. But JBH has more of an undercurrent of mental health than a need to break free of social constraints put in place by school and parents.

I fully agree that they should play more of their old stuff they have some amazing lock ass songs. Ones that didn’t become massive hits, but the majority of people that buy their records and come to their shows are fans that have been around awhile. They have it in their head they need to appeal to a bigger audience. Whether that’s a then thing or that’s soemthing management is imposing we can’t be sure. I feel like overtime they’ve grown less appreciative of the fans.

People have said if they didn’t evolve their sound they wouldn’t have survived, and I think some evolution is important but I don’t know that an outright complete genre switch is necessary for them to remain successful. Youngblood was a change from their punk pop roots, which we embraced and it was good but it was different. Why they felt the need to entirely shift from that seems so strange to me, and almost unnecessary? Maybe they are having an identity crisis. Even if they had stayed pop punk forever I think they would have been fine. As you mentioned the fanbase was always so strong behind them and a lot of the fans will blindly buy whatever they put out. I’m glad we got YB, I don’t understand why they could have just evolved form their rather than doing whatever the hell they did. Overall, I agree with a lot of what you had to say. And if also like to add I miss the punk vibe and the damn lip ring, grumble.

Is it true that mess back in october with xz and jc actor where rumors about them being together were spread by xz and yb shippers because they were mad yb didnt visit xz for his bday instead? I just heard about this on twt and how xz told people to stop making up fake stories about him and his friends? Few were saying this included all the rumors about him and yb too 😬😬

when it comes to rumors about who’s to blame for what i always take it with a pinch of salt cause the c-fandoms (and twt fans, honestly) throw so much shit at each other and don’t always wanna take the blame for the bad apples within their own circles. sometimes fandom fighting is seen as an opportunity for antis to swoop in and start a hate campaign against an idol they dislike and the fans are too busy blaming each other to realize it. a recent example was after the b&j ice cream shoes, a hot search started trending of “wyb comes out”. wyb’s fans were blaming shippers for starting the hot search claiming they didn’t care about him and only cared about their “evidence”, even though a lot of bjyx fans were also spending the day helping clear the hotsearches cause they didn’t want something like that to cause a problem for him. it’s not uncommon for people who want to smear idols to start rumors about them being gay and if someone smells blood in the water they’re gonna strike. also recently the bjyx fans also recently cancelled a lot of huge LED displays they were buying adspace for in celebration of the c/q/l anniversary coming up because it could undermine social distancing and they didn’t want xz or wyb’s name to be attached to poor behavior during this time, so it’s not like they don’t care about anything else other than themselves.  as for this particular example, all i know for a fact is that xz/wzc had their own couple supertopic that xz dismantled after this rumor started, however, he’s left the bjyx supertopic alone even after this incident and the a*3 incident despite how much bigger that fandom is (it’s been the top couple supertopic for like a year with over 2 million people in it). honestly i can’t come up with too many reasons why he’s keeping it up if this portion of the fandom is that much of a headache. they’re not in the same company and they’re not promoting anything together anymore (which are usually the reasons why c ent indulges these shipping supertopics in the first place) and their own individual fanbases are much larger, and quite frankly would probably be very thankful to see it gone. 

edit: also in 2018, wyb did visit xz for his birthday (with xl, she posted pictures) so i don’t know why bjyx/yizhan fans would be getting angry about that. not that couple fans don’t lose their shit over minor stuff, but in this case they did actually see each other

why are people so pressed about the idea of yi/zhan being a thing? I totally understand disliking cp, but some of the reasonings that those people have are downright homophobic. I feel bad for xz and yb because it doesn't matter if they're friends or something else, they clearly have a nice relationship but apparently some of their "fans" can't stand that idea, and then throw hate at one or the other. It must be so tiring, honestly

i think this is one of the reasons they let the bjyx supertopic sit despite the fact that they could dismantle it if they wanted, especially amidst all the speculation. no matter what their relationship is they’re clearly close and want to coexist and their individual fanbases keep throwing mud at each other and it must be depressing to see. i also totally get not being comfortable with cp (cp = couple btw, this is, mostly a twitter thing i realized belatedly) but it doesn’t start and end with them and it’s so ingrained in c ent at this point it would take an industry wide shift in mentality to really change it. that’s sorta just what happens when you have an industry that simultaneously doesn’t want its fanbase to know its entertainers date like normal but also wanna take advantage of the hype dating gossip brings. :shrug:  i get that some people are so against it because they’re concerned about making assumptions or outing them but tbh many of these people don’t seem to realize there is a middle ground between declaring what little you know about them as fact and pretending like you’re totally blind. just be rational, it’s not hard! no one is going to come after them for random speculation online. some of these people also make wild assumptions about the state of being lgbt in chn, despite the fact that a simple google search would let them know that no, no one is going to jail for being gay let alone rumors about being gay. if that was the case they’d both be in court a long time ago  the people that are actually a danger to them are the stalkers and paparazzi and generally anyone who goes too far in terms of breaching their privacy. i’ve seen a lot of rumors come from some sketchy sources and i don’t care how real they are i’m not repeating them publicly and encouraging that kind of behavior. talking about things where they’re in public and know they’re being filmed is one thing - spreading info and pics when they wanna be left the fuck alone is another. as for the homophobia, oof, i saw it rear its head especially after the rainbow sneakers post and the 10:05 posts by wyb. people saying they would be ashamed to be associated with the lgbt community, trying to insist that they’re straight as if they know them personally, trying to report videos of their bts antics as “inappropriate sexual content” on and on, mostly by fans who are delusional enough to think they’re going to date them one day or think that they need a personal army to clarify their sexuality for them instead of just being silent and letting them handle it, as they should, cause that’s not anyone else’s place to do but them. and quite frankly if you’re dealing with two stars who are in a position where they can’t publicly talk about being gay but express their feelings where they can through either clothes, solidarity posts, etc, maaaybe these people just need to sit back and listen. at the very least, understand that they wouldn’t want homophobes defending them.

i mean, lbr, individual fans have done just as many harmful things to them both. yibo's bodyguard nearly got run over, he's had a tracking device on his car, his fans have insisted on taking photos of him while hes working to the point where he had to have a drone flying around on the set of lof to call security on them. i totally understand disliking shipping or not caring about celeb dating gossip, but there's people who can understand they follow celebs for entertainment and people who get way too emotionally invested: that goes for everyone.

as for why people think they hate each other its half anti gossip half overzealous fans that view the other person as competition. while most rational people could tell wyb and xz's on set antics and bickering were playful people really tried to push the idea that they hated each other or that one person was genuinely rude. some of it seems to stem from this competition between idols that one fanbase thinks they have to tear anyone else down for their idol to be number one, some seem to come from jealously from delusional fans who dont like seeing their idol interact naturally close to someone. this is why yesterday a lot of people were asking people to take down a bts image that was recently posted on w*ibo cause the gesture xz was giving to wyb could be misinterpreted by his antis and with everything already surrounding him it's not a good idea to spread it (also many of the op on weibo with these new bts images have asked people not to repost)
