It was ten o’clock at night. The summer festival was minutes away from being over, but you and Nanami Kento decided to stay for a while to watch the fireworks one last time.

As you both sat on the bench, your hands locked. Despite your eyes paying attention to the visual performance, you both enjoyed each other’s comfort.

“Wasn’t the festival lovely, Nanami?” You hummed, resting your head against Nanami’s shoulder. Nanami only nodded, trying his best to avert his eyes from you. You quickly took notice and decided to tease him just a bit.

“Nanamin~?” You sang, making his ears flush a bright red. He hates it when Gojo or anyone else calls him “Nanamin.” But with you, he doesn’t have the heart to tell you to stop. You snickered, amused by his bashful behavior. You poked his cheek, and he swatted your hand away.

“Cut it out.” He groaned, finally facing you. You took your chance and pressed your lips against his. His lips were soft, almost reassuring. It was a shame it only lasted for a few seconds. Nanami stood still, even after the kiss.

“Y-you…” He started, unsure of what to say. “That was my first kiss.” “Mine too.” You replied. The both of you went silent.

“I’m gonna be honest with you,” You said. “I felt my heart beat faster than usual. Did you feel that too?” You looked at Nanami again. His face was still flushed. He had no response

“Shh… It’s okay. You’re okay.” You hushed, trying your best to soothe your newborn to sleep from the loud fireworks.

“Those fireworks are loud, aren’t they?” You gently stroked your baby’s face. Slowly drying the tears from their eyes. Eventually, your baby calmed down and fell asleep in your arms.

You smiled at your child, gently planting kisses all over their face. You place your baby back in their bassinet. You left the nursery room and slowly closed the door behind you. You went to the living room to see your husband, Nanami Kento gazing out the window.

“Are the fireworks still going?” You asked him. “Yes, they’re lasting longer than usual.” He replied. You shrugged his comment and stood beside him. “I don’t blame them. It’s the sixteenth anniversary after all.”

You sighed at the colorful night show across the luminous sky. It was a shame you couldn’t attend the festival this year. But despite all that, you were happier staying at home with your lover and child. As you were gazing, you couldn’t help but chuckle to yourself at a familiar memory.

“What’s so funny?” Nanami asked you. “Hehehe… Remember our first date to the festival?” You asked Nanami, still giggling. “Yes?” “Well, we had our first kiss in the fireworks, and you were so flustered when I kissed you!”

Nanami’s face grimaced as he remembered his teenage years, but his face just made you laugh even harder.

“Yes,” Nanami sighed. “Perhaps we should recreate the moment.” You almost choked on your saliva when he said that.

“I’m sorry?” You said, almost in disbelief. “There’s no need to be sorry, love,” Nanami said, pulling you closer. “Do I have your permission?”

You almost forgot that this wasn’t the flustered and bashful Nanami you used to know. Over the years, Nanami evolved to be more assertive, more calm, and more charismatic. You let his words and charms consume the rest of your pride.

Your lips connected with Nanami’s, creating an unforgettable kiss. Every time you stop to catch your breath, Nanami pulls you in closer–chuckling at your squirming. Just a Little Surprise

Candles- check.

Flowers- check.

Soft music- check.

Hair, makeup, cute dress, painted toenails- check.

Sizzling steaks and chilled beer- check.

Kagome wiped her hands down the front of her apron and breathed out a shaky breath, looking at the clock and gasping to notice it was just ten minutes to 6, and then her phone chimed, a text from Ginta.

‘We tried to keep him longer but we couldn’t! He’s on his way!’

She whipped off her apron and rushed it to the washing machine and then stopped off in the bathroom to fix any last hairs that had gone astray in her last minute preparations.

She just wanted to look as perfect as everything else looked, from the subtle decor to the decorated cake to the steaks cooked just like he liked and ready to eat on a plate the same color as his eyes.

Everything had to be perfect.

He deserved it.

She heard the door open and gave herself one more once over before pasting on a bright smile she hoped hid her nerves and then finally went to meet him at the door.

Koga.

“Hey babe!” He greeted her, taking off his jacket and hanging it beside the door as he kicked off his shoes, and she marveled at how strong and shapely he still looked even in his stuffy office clothes.

“Hey!” She said a little breathlessly, and his brow furrowed a little as he leaned in to kiss her.

“Anything wrong? You look flushed.” He said, laying a hand on her forehead. She shook it off and grabbed his wrist, tugging him toward the kitchen.

“No, nothing like that. I have a surprise for you!”

“Oh yeah?” He replied, voice going a little low and deep as a sultry smile quirked his lips.

“Nothing like that either, naughty wolf!”

“I’ll show you naughty,” he quipped, yanking her back toward him, grabbing her by the hips and nuzzling into her neck.

“No!” She giggled, scrunching up her shoulders to stave off the tickling, a shiver racing down her spine as his fangs found a bit of skin. “I mean it Koga, I won’t let you ruin my plans! Come look!”

“Okay, okay,” he relented with a grin, the contentment making his blue eyes glow stopping her heart for a moment.

Even when he wasn’t trying to, he almost never stopped revealing just how thankful he was to be there with her, to have found her again after 500 years, to have been finally given the chance to make her his.

She was thankful too.

He’d surpassed all of her wildest dreams and expectations, and she’d never once felt like she was any less than cherished in his hands.

She was bursting to give him back a gift equal to the one he’d given her with his devotion.

“Tada!” She said, sweeping her arms toward the table, and he smiled softly at the romantic setup, sliding up next to her and looping his arm around her waist.

“What’s the catch? I know I didn’t forget our anniversary. And your birthday isn’t until next month.”

“Don’t be ridiculous. I’m just being nice.”

“If you were being nice,” he murmured, bumping his nose against hers, “we would be a lot less clothed than we are right now.”

“Your steak is getting cold and your beer is getting warm.” She said, smirking in victory when his eyes widened and he finally took his seat.

This was the hardest part, she thought to herself, stopping him in his quest to divest them of their clothes and whisk her off to bed. His touch was addicting and she knew if she let him succeed in seducing her she’d forget about her most important news for the next several hours, and that was definitely not an option.

“Damn babe, this is great!” He said around a mouthful of perfectly rare meat, and she beamed as she watched him scarf down the meal she’d fretted over all afternoon. “Why aren’t you eating? Do you feel okay?”

“Oh, uh…. I guess I got full tasting everything as I cooked?”

He looked at her skeptically for a moment, and she twisted the hem of her dress under the table.

“If you’re sure…”

“Totally!”

“You smell nervous Kags, are you sure nothing’s wrong? You look pale now,” he got up and walked around the table, Cradling her face so gently, looking so worried and concerned that her deception, no matter how well intentioned, made guilt curl through her cut with sharp edges. “Maybe we should get you in bed to rest, hm? Thanks for all this, but I’d rather you be feeling well.”

“I’m pregnant!” She shouted to keep him from ushering her to bed like a child, and then her eyes widened in realization. “Oh no, I ruined it! I ruined everything! This was supposed to be a big surprise and I ruined it!”

“You’re…. You’re…. You’re what?” He whispered, but the tears were flowing and the nerves were making her babble and the disappointment of ruining everything she’d been so carefully planning was crashing through her mind and flooding everything else.

“I’m so sorry, I had all these cute plans to tell you and surprise you and I ruined it!”

“Kagome… you’re pregnant?!”

“I was going to give you all these things you love and then a gift that announced it and it was going to be so special…”

Distantly, she felt his nose press into her belly and heard the snuffling sounds of his deep breaths, and then he lifted her into the air with a loud whoop.

“Holy shit you are! I’m gonna be a dad!”

“Woah!” She gripped his shoulders to steady herself as he spun her in one swift circle, and then her feet touched the floor again just as his lips descended on her face, a hail of kisses that landed in her cheeks, nose, forehead, chin.

“But… the surprise-“

“Fuck the surprise Kagome, what could possibly make this moment better than it is?!”

Finally she let herself release the expectations she’d built for the evening, and simply relished the pure, unadulterated joy in Koga’s eyes.

“You’re really happy?” She asked quietly, and he pressed his forehead to hers with a breathy chuckle.

“I didn’t think anything could make me happier than the day you agreed to be mine. But this? Oh Kagome, nothin’ will ever top this.”

She sank into his embrace, happy tears replacing the bitter disappointment as he surrounded her with all of his love and happiness and protection.

The food went cold.

And the beer warmed.

And the cake went uneaten.

And the present went unopened.

But the moment had been as perfect as she’d hoped after all.

I will say any allergy is a possibility and one should exercise undue care with a very young infant, not just in matters of latex. I highly encourage you and your wife to discuss this with her doctor as frankly as possible. Um how do you run a Ship Week? I don't know how Instagram works

i don’t run ship weeks on instagram! mainly because i’m bad at editing and instagram is an image based social media, so i’d have to make an actual graphic in order to post anything there, haha.

however! if you want some advice for doing so on tumblr, here’s my recommendations!!!

- look up the name of the ship that you’re wanting to run a week for. if a week for it already exists, and happened already this year/the year before this one/is scheduled for a time that hasn’t happened yet this year, i would really recommend either finding a different ship, or getting in contact with the people who ran the week the year before! for kaemaki week for example, i got in touch with the admins from 2019 and asked for permission to host the week in 2020 before i did anything. PLEASE make sure you do this! it’s important not to try and trample anybody and we’re all a community here!!!

- it’s not always possible, but try to choose a week that is several months away from the date that you’re working on all of this. it’s important to give people time to plan in advance. i would also recommend choosing a set of dates that don’t intersect with any birthdays/other important dates in the dr canon UNLESS it’s the birthday of one of the members of your ship. (so, just as an example, amamatsu week 2020 ran up to rantaro’s birthday last year, and himikiyo week 2020 ran up to himiko’s birthday. that’s fine. but i tried to schedule amasai/amamota/kaemaki week so that they could avoid any birthdays in march/november/july.)

- ALSO try not to conflict any weeks that are happening at the same time, especially if they contain the same members from your ship. unfortunately i’m not always perfect in that respect, because i think naekirigami week was happening around this time, and naeleon week happened the exact same week as amamota week last year, but luckily these are largely different audiences and fans so it’s not too much of an issue. make sure to check in with the fandom event calendar and see if there are any weeks going on when you’re trying to plan your event for. again, it’s not always possible; amamatsu week ran until october 3rd last year and amatoujou week STARTED on october third last year, and it’s just, hard to avoid any conflicts in general because there are so many ships and only so many weeks, but if you can, it’s best to be courteous. this is why it’s ESPECIALLY important to follow the last step i gave, because if you plan something months in advance, you can’t really be blamed if there are conflicts. do your due diligence!

- coming up with prompts is tricky, especially when trying to avoid repeats. i like to choose themes to do with nature, and things related to the couple in question. for amasai for example i associate shuichi with books, so maybe reading/library related prompts. i associate rantaro with traveling, the ocean, and jewelry, so a prompt like “necklace” or “sailboat” might be appropriate. do you see where i’m going with this? you just think about the characters and choose the words that come to mind. if you’re in a mood you can also pick things that you think would be fun! talentswap and canon divergence prompts are always really enjoyable, alternative universe, personality swap, pregame, postgame, that sort of thing. danganronpa themed. you can do whatever you want with prompts. i find it to be helpful to reach out to friends and ask them to look over prompts for me, or to help me brainstorm them. that’s what i did for amamota week, and of course half of the amasai week prompts were thought up by storyflight as well :)

- tagging is IMPORTANT. come up with a tag for the week, tag the characters, tag the ship, tag the ship in any way you’ve seen it written and even in ways you haven’t seen it. make sure you’re following the tag you came up with for the week, too, and make sure to specify in the promo post that you want people to tag your blog so you can reblog entries.

- this is not mandatory, but i find it to be a good practice to participate in the week you’re hosting as well! admittedly i’m behind (though i WILL be finishing amasai week, god damn it) but it’s just fun to be able to participate in the things you host. makes you seem more approachable in my opinion. you should also reblog and READ all the content that people put out for your week. art, fanfic, et cetera. make sure you’re boosting everything as much as you can. be approachable, be open to feedback, answer questions, leave your inbox open, whatever. make sure that you’re answering questions quickly as possible, and make sure to stay on top of boosting people’s entries. that way people are more inclined to participate, and they have an easier time. :)

- PROMOTE. leading up to the week itself i’ll do weekly reblogs on the account itself, and then i’ll do countdown posts over the two weeks before the week. it’s important to get people thinking about the event! tag all your promo posts, make sure people see it! get the word out there!!! nothing sucks more than loving a ship and finding out there was an event going for it that you didn’t know about. be involved, get the word out, don’t be afraid to be a little bit annoying with your promo posts. don’t SPAM or anything, but be in people’s faces. don’t be afraid, you got this.

- rules and guidelines aren’t mandatory but generally i think it’s a good practice to come up with some, so that people know what they’re allowed to do. this one is sort of up to you and what you want to fly in your event, but please be mindful of the tumblr/ao3/twitter/instagram guidelines for wherever you’re hosting your event. also make sure not to be too prohibitive. and if you’re allowing edits, which i think you should, please emphasise that people should credit the art that they use!!! integrity is important for challenges like this.

July and August 1614

I apologize for my lack of a monthly post last month. July was quite busy for me, and the days just got away from me. To compensate, I’ll be briefly describing what life is like in Duilintinn during both July and August.

In the central, arid regions of House Jackie and House Schneeplestein, temperatures will continue to rise, while House Marvin will still be consistently covered in a dense, humid fog until late August or early September. 

In House Jameson, thunderstorms are very common during the hottest months of the year. These storms usually cause some infrastructure damage, prompting community repair efforts after the storms pass. 

Meanwhile, the summer showers in the north are a blessing for the farmers of House Brody, who are currently in the midst of both harvesting the spring crops and preparing for the fall planting in late August and early September. 

The Trading Season began in late June, reached its height in July, and will continue until late August. At this point, traders will begin to pack up their stalls in Cordoire and spend their last few weeks in Duilintinn bringing their remaining wares to the more isolated population hubs of the kingdom. At the end of the month, they’ll begin to return to Fionport to sail home before the winter storms begin to arise in the fall. 

The August Holidays are in full swing in Duilintinn, especially in House Schneeplestein. To quote my original post describing this holiday:

“August is the holiday focusing on growth of the mind and truth. Many people spend the day telling old stories, destroying false information, and spreading truth and learning to the rest of the kingdom. It’s common practice to find volunteers working to build a new school or collecting books during this holiday. Other adults will spend the day attending or being part of debates, presentations, and other scholarly events. 

While this would seem boring to children, there is a fun tradition to keep it interesting for them. On this holiday, anyone who lies, even a silly white lie, gets booped on the nose, in reference to the fairy tale Pinocchio*. Well-mannered kids live by the statement “don’t say anything if you have nothing good to say” on this holiday, while rowdy kids will take the opportunity to absolutely rip into their entire families with the truth. To absolutely no one’s surprise, House Schneeplestein goes HAM on this holiday.”

For children, this holiday is celebrated similar to how American’s celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. It’s not a huge deal for them, but they enjoy pinching those people who were foolish enough not to wear green. Only instead of a pinch, it’s a poke on the nose. 

The Watch celebrates the August Holidays by cleaning out their archives. New records are sorted and transcribed to a large, encyclopedia-like logbook, while the original documents are stored away for safekeeping. These logbooks will be copied multiple times and distributed to each garrison and outpost, creating an annual collection of ten volumes holding The Watch’s collective discoveries. 

This review of the year’s discoveries usually prompts new ideas and theories in the minds of the Watchers who participate in this process. Each year, you’ll find groups of Watchers pouring over multiple years’ worth of tomes, representing the spirit of the August Holidays in the way they do best: theorizing.

I actually have 435 followers now; IDK how that happened…

Alright.  Here’s how this is going to work.  Last time I did a prompt list, I got an overwhelming response (I wrote 22 fics), and I only had 100 followers back then.  This time around, I’m instituting some rules to keep things running smoothly.

I’ll keep this event running for one week (Evening of Thursday 05 July through Evening of Thursday 12 July) OR until I receive 25 prompts (controlling for duplicates).  At that point, my inbox will close again until I’ve written all of them.  I plan to post them as I write them, so I’m not sure how many I’ll get done each day.  My goal is to write at least one prompt a day, however, don’t get upset if things get a little delayed; my leg is in a cast and I am back working full time, so I got some shit going on.

**When you ask for a prompt, please copy and paste it into the ask**  This saves me having to go back and look it up later.  It also makes it way easier to search for the posts after they’re published.

There is no length guarantee.  Some of these lend themselves to short drabbles, and others work as longer fics, so expect some variety there.  In order to appeal to everyone’s various interests, I’ve tried to mark the prompts as to whether or not they’ll feature emeto.  Per usual, most of the prompts are sickfic-, angst-, or h/c-based, but a few are comedic.  I’ve bolded a few of the fanfic prompts I’m super ecstatic about, but no pressure.  Choose whichever you like best.  If there’s something else you’re desperate to see (especially if it’s for creedless assassins, since I didn’t put them on the list), feel free to send in an ask with your own prompt, though I reserve the right to say no thanks.

This is a fiction/art exchange, similar in the regards its basically a secret Santa, we just tried to give it a cooler name. You’ll essentially be trading prompts with other Coldflash fans. You’ll provide prompts that your gift giver will either create a fic or art based on the prompt they like best. In return, you will also be assigned another’s and you will create something for them in return.

I feel you, when people cite some of my text messages from a few months (or more) ago I'm often like "nope, nah-ah, that's not me, you're wrong". Same for older essays, I often can't believe I wrote those. And even with things I wrote late at night a few weeks ago, sometimes I'm like "I wrote that? That monstrosity??? But sometimes I'll see this project I've worked on YEARS ago and exactly recognize the pieces I wrote? Specifically, I would be studying for my exams, explaining topics to myself like I always do, so I'd tell myself "The six possible origins of economies of scope are indivisibility, specialisation, marketing, research and development, GUESS WHAT.. SUBWAY DRIVER GANDÍA... ehhh... what was I doing again??" OR: "one of the most detailed and most used models of responsive regulation is Brathwaite's piramid. His enforcement piramid visually shows, nope not important, SUBWAY DRIVER GANDÍAAAAAA" And I'd laugh, continue explaining theories and calculations to myself until my focus started lessening again and my thoughts would wander off again. Yess, those pictures I saw from Promising Young Woman look so beautiful and aesthetic!! I'll probably watch it somewhere after the 16th, because I'll most likely have finished my last exams by then. I had an exam last Friday and I absolutely rewarded myself, because it went better than I expected and I passed an earlier exam and a paper too! I still have two exams to go, so I could always buy a tricorne for finishing either of those, OR. EVEN BETTER. I'll ask my parents (or my grandparents) for one for my birthday. It would be so incredibly funny (and really really weird for them), I am laughing like crazy just at the thought of it.

I've never been in Finland before, but those temperatures do not sound legal indeed. I have no knowledge of Finnish law, but maybe article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the prohibition of torture, would work? If I was the judge I’d 100% agree, so we should all sue the weather sksksks. I love that I am able to make you lose your coherent thoughts (that's probably why we have one brain energy about Underwater, because I, too, have the ability to make myself lose my coherent thoughts). I'm glad for your faith in my impersonation of Martín. I even started Duolingo Spanish again, and now know the phrase, "Yo bebo leche" (I drink milk) which obviously would be very important to him. Now I'll just need an Argentinian accent to go with it. Leaning menacingly on a cane would be GREAT, I love the idea. I'll open job applications for a Denver. Maybe my cat could help me, she, much like Denver, is super loud and she is super aggressive towards other cats, so there is potential there. And guiding dogs and even tiny guiding horses exist, why not a guiding cat?

I always assumed I would follow a more... you know… legal... career path, maybe even literally a career in law. But, my accounting professor also showed us how to manipulate financial statements ("so you can notice when people are doing this", uh-huh sure, sure that’s why) and another professor of mine also said that a criminal career sometimes could be the more rational, rewarding choice over a legally acceptable career. So, I suppose I should not be surprised by this sudden change of career plans. I should have seen this coming. And what better way to be able to avoid the laws than by knowing exactly what they are and how far you can go. And if that plan doesn’t work out, the books of law I have (they’re combined in two huge hardcover bundles) are really heavy and you could probably harm someone with them if you hit hard enough… Well, I suppose you can even leave “hard” away, just by hitting someone softly with those books you can bring serious harm to them… Ah, and like that one professor would say: in this scenario it would be a rational choice to become a pirate instead of a privateer. Oh dear, not Arturito :/ Mutiny would seem like a good option, I’ll take over the ship and become Palermo the Pirate. Last week has been pretty good (except for having to make a test at 9:30, what a godless time, I’m usually barely awake by then ehehehe), I think I aced the test I had, got back some good grades and finally got my first Covid vaccination (and only shortly slight dizziness as a side effect, so that's pretty great). And thanks so much!!! For now I’m safe from Gandía, but somewhere in mid-July I’ll have to take an exam on campus, so I’ll might be able to bring out my inner Palermo then.

And uni resumes in the beginning of September, but I'm a tutor for new students so I need to show up three weeks earlier for the orientation weeks. Yes, we do three weeks of orientation (read: three weeks of drinking). It's a bit insane.

A Story A Day Keeps COVID Away – June Reviewed and July Anticipated

If I say “things are looking up”, not only would I be lying, but it would also likely jinx any chance of that happening. So I’m not going to say that.

June was both accidentally and purposefully very focussed on the contemporary. A third of my stories this month were directly inspired by the Black Lives Matter protests – some by the numerous instances of both brutality and kindness all over social media, some by my own personal feelings of impotence and hope and rage. I also did the Pride Event, a week of stories prompted by the letters in the LGBTQIA+ acronym (all of which can be found here), something that I had planned since very early in starting this account.

As for July… I really don’t know. I kind of want to do more thematic events? Maybe some serials (interconnected daily stories), I feel like that might be really fun. I’d love for a second opinion, so if any of my *checks stats* 11 followers would like to share what they think of such a venture, my inbox is open. Or literally anyone, I’m craving some constructive criticism.

While there are some stories that I am definitely less pleased with or more proud of than others, this list is pretty arbitrary. Most of this month was either low-effort or absolutely golden, with little in between? But whatever, let's take a handful and rank them anyway, why not.

5. 06/10/20: Landlord

The federal government in Canada has been giving $2000 to anyone who’s out of work due to the pandemic, and that budget is slim depending on where you live or family size (not to mention the hundreds of thousands falling through the cracks). Finding out that there’s only been one (1) federal payout to working class families in the USA since the pandemic started blew my mind. This story is me trying to imagine what that must feel like for American renters.

4. 06/15/20: pressure

This is one of the ones inspired by recent BLM-related events. More specifically, by the several incidents of black and Latinx Americans found hanging from trees. Police have said suicide (which, in one case, has been proven true), many others have said lynching, but either cause carries its own horrific implications, all of which merit confronting.

If anyone tries to tell you that “biological sex = gender”, please tell them that intersex people exist. Please also inform them of the struggles they face, from the controversy over Caster Semenya to the common practice of intersex genital mutilation. I wanted to do right by the oft-forgotten “I” in LGBTQIA+, and I believe I did so with this story. Though I’m not intersex, and I’ve been lacking in feedback as previously mentioned, so… I hope my research paid off?

1. 06/21/20: Father(?)’s Day

Look, personally, I find it absolutely hilarious that the day I set aside for Lesbian in the Pride Event also happened to be Father’s Day. And sure, I could have ignored that seemingly inconvenient coincidence, but no. I ran with it. And I couldn’t be happier with the result.

I just did a word count check on it, and it’s crossed 50k) as well. We’ve decided to drop out of the Marvel Big Bang for it, though, so we can post it with our schedule instead of all at once. We think it’ll read better that way. 

Total words:    13,086 words for the week. It really feels like it was a short, and not very productive week, even though this is not my lowest word count week. I was out on Sunday for a concert -- that I got rained out of so, buh bye $60 boo hiss -- and then my husband was home for three days this week “working” from home. I should have taken him up on that offer for a laptop.
