Anyway I wrote about this in my fanfic notes but I think this is credible

En. He's a One For All user, young, and dies from being cut in half by All For One. He cries, but manages to pass on One For All to Nana with a smile, and hides Nana with his Quirk so she can escape.

So En. Sixth. This cutie patootie guy right here

He's been viewed as cool and collected and I'm gonna call a bit of bullshit on that.

First: he is young. He doesn't have the fullest emotional maturity (brain caps out in the mid-20s), and even if he did, he can still freak out. But that's not what I wanna talk about with him

It's more the time period in which he was born and grew up.

Kudo and Bruce, at the least, die 18 years before En receives One For All. En was born during All For One's rule, and grew up in a society struggling to cope with the new Abilities on top of Japan's crumble.

En was born at an anxious time, and grew up in the flames of it as society tried collecting itself. Since he was born while people were just barely adjusting to Abilities, and were flighty and shellshocked from the events, En was the same: used to Abilities, but quick to jump and flee. He was raised in a world like that, and thus was like the others of his time.

Look at En at his death. His Smokescreen is active. He died with his back turned. He was running away and using his Smokescreen as cover.

He later asks, fearful and stressed, why Midoriya/Ninth doesn't just run away. And Tomura calls him out on this. We'll go back to this later.

En is a product of the time he grew up—a time of trying to pick themselves up in the midst of civil war, shifting humanity, where no one trusted anyone and everyone ran to save themselves.

His Quirk is literally Smokescreen. There's no application to it beyond making smoke from the user's body to hide in. It obscures others' visions.

His Quirk hides him from others. That's its main function. He isn't as brave as the others. He's a coward when pushed into a corner. Nana describes his last smile in ch. 92 as this:

But All Might, who does this smile, describes it in ch. 1 as—

—tricking the fear inside of him. En is a combination of both; he smiled to reassure Nana, but was no doubt terrified, as he died running and got cut in half.

I imagine the reason En was the first One For All user shown passing off the Quirk with his hair was because he was too afraid to reach down and feel himself cut in half. He could've gotten the blood from there, but the cognitive dissonance alone of feeling air where your lower-half should be is terrifying as is.

By hiding her in his Smokescreen and giving his hair, En let Nana run away too, to safeguard herself and the Quirk. En ran, he made Nana run, and later on, he wants Midoriya/Ninth to run, even knowing there's no next user or chance to beat All For One/Tomura.

En knows All For One is powerful. He's scary. He killed Banjo-senpai, and Shinomori-san hid from him until he died of "old age". Everything is mustered in Midoriya/Ninth, but even then, En wants to run away because they realize they can be stolen and really die.

Now, going back a bit to [His Quirk is literally Smokescreen], they would've started calling Meta Abilities Quirks around the time En is growing up. All Might is alive somewhere when Nana receives One For All, and Meta Ability is the first term for Quirks.

Since Quirks are reflective of personality, and En was born in the coming down of the peak of fear that's trying to create some semblance of normalcy, it makes sense that, with his Smokescreen, he encourages Midoriya/Ninth to run. Because he did the same thing.

That's how he grew up, that's what he knows, it's the first thing he thought of when he realized they really were in danger. They were facing death in the eye.

Tomura/AFO even calls him out for this. Look at En's face when he's called out; he's scared of him. En is scared of just catching his attention.

The OFA vestiges know they can see into each others' realms. They wouldn't be surprised by this. They look into AFO's, they know AFO can do the same vice-versa.

Tomura is basically saying he's about to catch all the vestiges (rats) by their tails to make sure no one gets away this time.

Even if En was a vigilante or Pro Hero when he was alive (he's Banjo's kouhai, and Banjo was one of those), he has a faint heart when he feels cornered and running is an option, no matter how bad.

En acts calm and rational, and entered into the Vigilante/Pro Hero scene, but he is terrified when it comes down to it.

Like Kudo and Bruce with the Resistance, Shinomori with society's state then, and Banjo stepping up when Japan was "a lawless land", En is a product of the era he grew up; trying to find stability in a lawless land, where it was everyone for themselves.

CRACK I - III (The Lost Juke-Footwork Compilations) [Remastered, Re-issue (2019)]

Hello,

A little over 5 years later, I (SELA.) am here again to bring you a revised / updated version of the 3 CRACK compilations that were released on tumblr during the fall of 2013 / 14’. These files are remastered, and some additional information / tags have been added.

What is the reason for this release?

Well, in short: for archival purposes. All music from MySpace as of last year is now “no longer available and cannot be retrieved.” (There is an issue with all songs/videos uploaded over 3 years ago.)

The point of these compilations (as originally stated) was “to receive a non-jaded representation of what juke / footwork sounds like (or, better yet, sounded like during this time) (not the trap / UK-influenced sound).” This is still my intent. I still think this specific period of this kind of music is just… something else. Entirely. High level ghetto electronic insanity completely out of the left-field with the arrangements, the sample flips / interpretations, the play on BPM, the BASS… All still basically unmatched by any other music and it’s been about 10 years now. I still truly feel that this music (not just these compilations specifically) and the artists that created it are something that needs to be appreciated. There is a very special / instinctive / unique energy that forms on the dance floor when this music is DJ’d properly.

But, this is just my opinion.

Also, an additional note (to address these things once and for all): The few inaccuracies with the original 2013 compilation (mistitled tracks, etc.) were simply due to me using the information that was available at the time (the titles / information that were on the tracks when I found them). I was 19 when I put these together and it was released exclusively as a post on tumblr with a zippyshare link. Attempts were made to reach out to an amount of the artists included in these compilations during that time but many profiles and emails were inactive / non-existent (I also didn’t know that a good amount of people were connected solely in exclusive Facebook groups until later on). These compilations have never, at any point been used for any kind of monetary gain (or otherwise). These accusations started because a Bandcamp page was created for the third compilation (CRACK III) so people could stream the album before downloading as people had complained about the file size and not being able to preview songs with the previous two. This page was always streaming only, and had purchasing / downloading completely disabled from the very beginning and you can literally see that here.

There was going to possibly be a CRACK IV, and I do have an amount of songs for it, but I was never able to do the final part of my searching about 2 years ago because of the problem with the content on Myspace not loading. Maybe one day…

“The Two Spains” (Boombshells! Jason Todd x Hispanic! Reader) (Part 1/?)

Hello my lil’ wings!!

I promise soon will come all these hc I promised! And also, the next part of “Stop that wedding!”

so today I discovered that Jason in boomshells is an basque spanish boy! 

And his brief story was settled in the spanish civil war. So being the history buff i am...I had to give this a chance!

So i hope you enjoy this!

This part is longer and more history settled (sorry for the history leson xdd) so you dont get lost. The next part will be more dinamic and romantic. The reader is settled to be a valencian girl, as I know the language and also i know more about how the war was lived there. My grandparents have told me about how it was.

Btw, so you know a bit more about me, Im spanish! Valencian to be more exact.

Your eyes opened in alarm as you heard the strong sound.

“SHH!”

You tiptoed over your toys on the ground to get to the door, where you slightly looked out to see what had made that sound.

You saw your father, talking in hushed tones to your mother.  Worry painted her skin pale. Her eyes wide as she and your dad listened close to the wavering, echoing, hushed radio. Your father fist was closed tightly as you closed your eyes to listen intently.

“- Pamplona, Burgos, Zaragoza, Valladolid, Cádiz, Córdoba, Y finalmente Sevilla han apoyado el pronunciamiento del grupo militar de José Sanjurjo. El gobierno-”

“¡MIERDA! ¡JODER!” [SHIT! FUCK!] Your father said frustrated. Your mother quickly hushed him, as she saw your cowering form on the doorframe.

“Jason? nire maitea [my dear] Did you have a nightmare? “Your mother smiled as she came to pick you up. You hugged her neck “Let’s get you back to bed” She petted your back as you looked at your father, who looked at you with a dark glance. You hided your face in your mother’s soft neck as she entered your room once again.

“Ama” [mom] you said with a quivering voice. “Why was aita [dad] so mad?”  Her smile faltered as she covered you with your thin cotton sheet.

“It’s nothing you should worry about mi bebe [my baby] Now sleep, my dear. You have school tomorrow.” She brushed your hair back as she kissed your forehead. “gau ona, nire maitea.” [good night, my dear]

“Gau ona,ama” You smiled as your eyes fluttered closed.

What you didn’t know is that it was the beginning of the end.

[ 18/10/1936 | Valéncia, Spain. | Morning]

The sweet smell of chocolate made your eyes fluttered open.

You smiled as the gentle face and warm smile of your mother greeted you.

“Good morning, Carinyet.” [ my darling] She smiled. “Did you sleep well?”

“Good morning, mami.” [mommy] You smiled. “I did. I dreamed of being in the countryside with grandma again!” Your mother smile widened as she brushed you (h/c) hair to the side. Big bags under her eyes as she hugged you tightly.

“Mami? Something wrong?” You asked, hugging her back.

“n-no, perla [my pearl] …just get dressed and join us downstairs.” She smiled.

“Okay!” You smiled innocently. Your mother exited the room as your thirteen-year-old body carried you to the bathroom. You brushed your teeth and changed to your thin but warm (f/c) dress, you put your old weathered shoes on and skipped downstairs.

You greeted your dad and your sibling as you took your seat next to your mother.

The sound of the radio harmonized your breakfast as you all keep silent eating your food. Meanwhile, you zoomed out the news as you looked at your parents face intently.

Your father face looked tired, heavy bags under his eyes. He was dressed in his uniform, it looked a bit out of place, his tie was fumbled as his normally slicked back (h/c) hair was all over the place.

When his (e/c) eyes made contact with yours you looked away to your plate. After eating, your mother coughed to get your attention.

“You all know…how dad works in the army right?” she smiled, holding your fathers hand. “Well…you see…um…y-yesterday-y um..something…big..happened…and ah..we..” her unwavering (e/c) gaze locked into yours put you on edge as your father hugged her shoulder. She sighed heavily as you father spoke.

“We are moving.”

“What?” said your sibling. “Why?!”

“The reason why is not…important right now. We are leaving in two days. We are moving to Castilla La mancha.” His eyes looked into yours as they filled with sorrow. “(y/n) …you will stay with your grandmother okay? She will come pick you up tomorrow.”

“W-what?” you said as your eyes filled with tears.

“WHY?! WHY CAN’T SHE COME WITH US?!” Your sibling yelled, getting up from their spot.

“ITS SAFER FOR HER TO STAY HERE! SHE CAN’T COME WITH US. IT’S NOT GOING TO BE PRETTY!” Your father yelled back.

“IM NOT GOING WITHOUT HER!” He yelled back, your father got up as he slapped your sibling’s cheek. You let out a sob as your mother ran to hug you. You hugged back tightly, soaking in her warmness. As you breathed her essence deeply you heard your sibling’s heavy angry steps upstairs. You pulled away from your mom as you followed them upstairs.

You could hear their sobs as you opened their door silently, you peeked your head and with a soft voice asked:

“(tete [bro]/teta[sis])? Can I come in?” You asked softly. They wiped their tears as they sat on the bed.

“come here” they smiled softly as you ran to their arms.  They hugged you tightly. “I promise I will come to find you.”

You smiled. “I know (tete/teta)…I will wait for you to come for me.” You smiled, kissing their tears. They smiled back as they untied the thin chain around their neck, hanging from it a little old white-pink shell.

“Remember this?” They smiled. “You made it for my birthday when you were a small baby.” They smiled and put it around your neck, tying it softly as you looked at it. “You said it was so I could remember you forever… now it’s yours. It’s a promise, that I will come for you.” They smiled, hugging you.

As you sigh you heard soft claps, you turned to the door and saw your grandmother. She smiled warmly at you.

“but, iaia…what’s going on?” you sniffled.

“(Y/n)” Your father breathed. He was hugging your mother waist tightly. You mother looked on the verge of tears, her arms holding your father weakly, you were sure if your father wasn’t holding her she would be on her knees. Your grandma let you go to hug her daughter, who softly started sobbing and whispering to her. Your father came to you and kneel, hugging you tightly. His uniform felt cool to the touch, his hair tickled your temple as he let out a restrained sob.

“Be careful…” He whispered. “We will come for you soon. Just…be careful…”

“I will, papi…” You sniffled as you hugged him tightly. “Just…promise me whatever is going on…you’ll come back home.” You voice broke slightly as you said the last words.

“I will…” he smiled sadly. “I promise.” You hugged him tightly. Your mother broke to tears as your sibling and grandmother held her.

All of you knew he may not be able to hold his promise at all.

Spain then was broken in two, the known as rebel zone and the republican zone. Families alike where separated by war.

 On Thursday July 23rd a National Defense Board, which would be set up the next day in Burgos. Their Decreet No. 1 established that it assumed "all the powers of the State" and that it would represent the country before foreign powers, although in the following weeks no country recognized it and continued to consider Spain's legitimate government the leftist republican José Giral. Franco was chosen as chief military commander at a meeting of ranking generals at Salamanca on 21 September, now called by the title Generalísimo. Two days after relieving the siege of Alcazáe, Franco proclaimed himself Caudillo ("chieftain", the Spanish equivalent of the Italian Duce and the German Führer -meaning: 'director') 

 On 1 October 1936, General Franco was confirmed head of state and armies in Burgos. 

They were aided by Portugal, the Nazi Germany and fascist Italy, the second made of Spain their laboratory for their  world war II weapons.

On July 27, 1936, the first Italian aircraft squadron sent by Benito Mussolini arrived in Spain.

“Kabenzotz!” He yelled as he held his red beanie tightly. He ran between the crowded streets. He bit his lip as he hided behind a group of nuns when he saw his father and his group exit a bar, the shotguns clearly shining on their backs. The nuns sensed his discomfort and stayed put until he saw his father turn the corner. He thanked them and keep running.

He was walking towards his hideout as he clutched a note tightly.

His teacher, Miss Echevarria who knew him since he was practically a toddler had pulled him aside. She knew his family, and she knew how lonely Jason was during the day. She told him she had an old friend whose sister was going to be isolated just like him, she told him they had sorted that both of them needed a friend…so why not them?

Jason sat on the dusty ground as he pulled the note open. It had a small note from his to be pen pal.

He pulled his old notebook and his pen as he read the small smuggled note.

Halo Championship Series in a nutshell: The North American Open Tournament #1

Halo esports is very interesting, but difficult to get into. There is a lot to process and there is a certain barrier to entry when it comes to understanding the format.

Mainly as a resource for myself, I will be breaking down what is going on in Halo Esports, in particular the new HCS season, from a casual outside perspective. 

Some rough notes that I should probably proofread:

The tourney itself

- To start it off an open tourney was held for the NA region, meaning anyone could form a team and sign up.

- There are 4 major regions NA, Mexico, Australia NZ, EU.

- Each region gets two open qualifiers that are running at this time as well.

- This is the first of two open qualifying tournaments for the NA region

- 400+ teams signed up, the most for any halo tourney ever

- Winners get money and 'hcs points' that contribute towards qualifying for other major events, in this case HCS Raleigh NC, December 17-19, 2021

Big brand representation

- Many of the top esports brands sent teams to the open including optic, sens, spacestation, cloud9 etc

  - Many considered Optic to be the team to beat because of Halo Pro Pistola, among many other things 

Storylines

- Going into this year the team to beat (IMO) seems to be SEN (sentinels, who has teams in valorant and other games ) which is mostly made up of TOX gaming's old roster of players that were recruited to represent the SEN brand in halo esports. Tox gaming is known for winning all kinds of championships in halo 5 and 2a.

  - Halo pro APG from tox moved to SEN but eventually moved to Optic Gaming, after being replaced by frosty on SEN (skill for skill one of my personal favorites, though he is IMO very disrespectful to the OGs of halo esports but that is another topic).

The pro teams devastating talent

- The big name pro teams swept every other team that entered the tournament

- Some of the open teams made it very far but all roads led to eventually matching vs one of the big teams and they all got swept...which is an interesting point to note about the size of the tourney not meaning anything to the top talent.

- Back and forths happened early when big teams would get matched early. For instance SSG was beaten out of the tourney early. Optic faced SEN in the winners bracket and lost as well (adding to the idea that SEN is the team to beat). 

 Optics Comeback

- Optic was sent to the losers "wildcard" bracket and won the whole bracket to get back to SEN who they defeated on their way to the grand finals .

-In grand Finals Optic took down cloud9, who themselves had been doing very well getting to the finals. A full comeback for Optic and a big statement to start the series en route to Raleigh

- The team that won is the only team that doesn't have skins (yet) in the game, this will prob be addressed by HCS Raleigh

This article talks about non-consensual porn videos on Pornhub. Two cases are girls who were still minors and the third one, was married but unconscious during the act.

The news report talks about the aftermath that these videos have caused these women even years later. Before Pornhub was faced with major lawsuits and published articles, Pornhub still had over 9 million videos with 80 percent of the content that was unverified (list) by the company.

The Peach (depends on the video) top three keywords: molest, torture, unwilling. Red list banned (red flags) top three keywords: child, rape, unconscious. Up until recently, Pornhub still had the download option but due to recent events they had it removed and now when an individual wants to upload a video they have to be verified first.

One of the cases; Eva (fake name to keep her identity safe) was 14 years old when she was recorded on an online video chat with a 21-year-old man. After ten years this video is still affecting her, she was getting threats and inappropriate messages like “People described in full detail of how they wanted to sexually torture me”.

People looked her up on google and sent her pictures of her house, they also found out where she went to school.” Eva said “It’s like walking around in your life with a gun held to your back”.

Jane Doe was sexually abused when she was twelve years old by a relative. Her abuse was videotaped and in 2019 when she became an adult, she discovered that there were inappropriate pictures of her online. “It’s a nightmare that does not go away” (Miller, 2021)

Rachel (age unknown) was a married woman, who had found a hard-drive that belonged to her ex-husband which contained nude photographs of herself. Some of the pictures were given consent but only for him to see. The folder also contained various other naked bodies, these pictures had been put in folders and were edited.

She later did a reverse image search and found these images online, and on two different porn sites. She also found a video of herself, where she is unconscious and was being sexually assaulted by her husband. This video included titles such as “while sleeping” and “sleeping pills”. Rachel says “It’s devastating. I mean, this is something that is going to haunt me for the rest of my life,” she says. “I will always be someone's porn.”

Pornhub since has reviewed and removed more than a half a million videos in 2020. These videos were removed for not following guidelines. 544,021 videos on Pornhub were removed because it contained “criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures that control access to copyrighted works.” (Pornhub, 2020)

Research

Sexual Assault

In distinction to the specified criminal act of rape, the term sexual assault can refer to a variety of sexually motivated criminal acts, such as inappropriate touching and kissing, to rubbing groping or forcing the victim to touch the perpetrator in inappropriate sexual ways. However, “sexual assault overlaps with rape because the term includes rape” (The Conversation, 2018).

Survey Results

o Most of the women, were first dealt with assault as minors. -72.7% under 18 -20.5% 18 to 25 -6.8% 26 to 35

o There are a variety of ages including; -53.7% from the ages 18-25 -22.2% from the ages 26-35 -13% from the ages 36-45 -9.3% from the ages 45+ -1.9% from the ages under 18

o Most women were sexually assaulted four or more times.

o We asked if the women spoke up and more than half replied with no.

Social Workers

Social Workers assist people in dealing with day-to-day issues. They support clients who are dealing with problems brought on by neglect, abuse, domestic violence, mental wellbeing, and parental substance abuse.

Their responsibilities are;

o Helping clients receive help by telephone and also in meetings.

o Involving clients in beneficial activities.

o Evaluating clients and gathering important information.

o Providing information and assistance to clients and their families.

o Communicating and making referrals to other agencies and services.

o Maintaining correct data and preparing reports.

o Taking part in training, supervision and meetings.

o Keeping an eye out for child abuse

o Providing crisis interventions

Research on the interviewee (Hayley Vella)

Hayley Vella is a 26-year-old female who has worked with Appoġġ, a social servicing organization in Malta. She was an employee for the company for four and a half years. Her responsibilities were to support and guide vulnerable clients in their everyday lives. Keeping in mind their emotional and social aspects when giving them the support and the help they need. Hayley is currently employed by MCAST as a student mentor.

Day 1 - February 24th, 2020

Hello again! Today I started my Welfare Food Challenge and to be totally candid, I am struggling. I woke up today with a pounding headache, but I stayed true to the challenge all day (no cheating, I pinky promise, which is a very serious form of committment to me). 

Disclaimer: All the pictures below are completely unedited as I wanted to let any readers see exactly what I was consuming in order to remain somewhat credible and realistic. 

BREAKFAST - 08:30

This morning I woke up fairly hungry and was ready for my usual coffee, some fruit, a bagel, maybe even some avocado on top with an egg for some protein. I am a firm believer that breakfast is in fact the most important meal of the day. However, from the picture below you can already see I had a significantly smaller breakfast than I was used to. While I would not consider this a terrible breakfast, my first meal of the day was super dry. I had two pieces of toast and one scrambled egg on top. Prior to this morning my strategy was to make an over-easy egg and use the runny yolk as a ‘sauce’ to make my breakfast a little less dry. However, I quickly learned that without butter or oil on a pan it is very difficult to flip an egg without completely destroying it (now that may be the real challenge of the week). 

As mentioned before, I love to have a larger breakfast to make sure that I hit all of my food groups and that I am ready to start my day. This was definitely something I was missing this morning. I found myself getting pretty hungry by about 10:30 and sadly had a midterm at 11:00. Do not get me wrong, I still did well on my exam, but I found myself quite distracted by the fact that I was hungry. I was very shocked to see how this challenge already started to impact my life. 

In realizing that something as simple as eating a smaller breakfast has already impacted my ability to focus and learn, I did some more research. The American Physiological Association (2016) state in the online document What are the Psychological Affects of Hunger on Children that hunger can cause toxic stress because you body is not being relieved of this stressful state it is in. Furthermore, when people are hungry they tend to spend what limited mental reserves they have focusing on food or ways to satisfy their needs (American Psychological Association, 2016). Reading this made me truly realize that this challenge may actually impact my schoolwork because just in one day I was already focused on my hunger. I know, I am eating three fairly decent meals and that I should be grateful and I am. However, it has been a big shift on my body to lack those fruits and vegetables or healthier foods that give my power the nutrients it needs for the day. 

LUNCH - 12:30

As lunch rolled around, I was unusually hungry. I blame this on the fact that I am a snacker; I pack tons of snacks with me to class like granola bars, apples, vegetables, and sometimes the odd Rice Krispie square. Without these I was definitely ready for my next meal by lunch time, which was about a cup and half of pasta with some tomato sauce. I will admit, this was a fairly decent lunch and satisfied my hunger for quite a while but I found myself missing some vegetables. Over the years I have grown to really enjoy my salads and even look forward to them (I know its weird, I like vegetables okay). I am not sure how but just in one day I could really feel the difference in my body without getting my daily vegetables and eating more carbohydrates that I am used to. This was evidenced by just after lunch I was extremely tired and ready to curl up in bed and have a nap. Furthermore, the headache I woke up with in the morning was still pounding, even though I had taken my usual Tylenol migraine. I cannot help but wonder if I had been giving my body the nutrients it is used to through more vegetables and fruit if my headache would have gone away quicker. 

SNACKS - 14:30

As mentioned above, I am a snacker. I am not sure if I could have made it between meals today without my banana and granola bar. I ate both of these a couple hours after my lunch, which I immediately regretted because I had the fear that I would need one of them as a snack later in the evening (which spoiler alert, I was 100% correct about). 

DINNER - 19:00

Today’s final meal was the smallest dinners I have had in a very long time. When buying my rice and frozen vegetables yesterday I was quite confident that I would have enough to last me the entire week and that it would make seven decent sized meals. However, after meal prepping these dinners I was to quick to see that I was wrong. It was very hard to see that I may not have large enough dinners to keep me full throughout the night and it breaks my heart realizing people live like this on a daily basis.

Not only was my dinner small it was also one of the blandest meals I have had to date. I have never been a big user of salt and pepper, but today I was really missing some flavour. It is a hard realization to find all of the things I use daily that I take for granted. When I make my food it never crosses my mind that people across the world do not get to have meals that are healthy and give them their daily nutrients because I have become so accustomed to my lifestyle. Reflecting on my daily choices, I feel selfish for not being grateful that I get to have food that I enjoy everyday.

“DESSERT”

Pictured below was my ‘dessert’ if you will. It may not seem like much but after a long day of studying and stress these two small candies seemed like heaven. While I did indulge in my candies and it brought me great happiness, I cannot help but wonder if I should have saved this money and bought more healthy snacks or even more vegetables to have with my main meals. I felt almost guilty for enjoying this snack because I know in my head that it is unrealistic. To further explain, if I was actually in this situation and only had $18 for seven days worth of groceries I would have never bought these candies because I would need to buy quality food. Again, I feel quite selfish for buying them right now as I feel like it was something I wanted and not something I needed. Already I am starting to question my daily choices when I buy treats for myself that i just want because it is more clear to me than ever that some people do not have that luxury. 

THOUGHTS

While today was a success because I got through the day without ‘cheating’, which was my main goal, as I write this post just before I go to bed, I am hungry. I am struggling between eating one of my apples right now so that I do not go to bed hungry and knowing that if I do I will have to go without a snack in one of the days to come. This personal battle I am having with myself has been a recurring theme throughout the day. I found myself beating myself up for eating my snacks when I was hungry because I wanted to make sure I can last the whole week. To be completely honest, it is exhausting to constantly have to worry about having enough food to last me the week. In reality it has only been a day, but it was one of the longest days I have had in a while and I cannot imagine living like this for months on end. My eyes have truly been opened already and I am very interested to see where this week takes me.

One big change that I noticed today was that I drank way more water that I am used to. I think it was my way of tricking my body into thinking I was consuming more than I actually was. Throughout my normal days I usually mix in a juice of some kind or maybe even an iced tea, but today that did not even cross my mind. In doing some research I found that the Health Eating Requirements (2019) state that water is “the beverage of choice to support health and promote hydration without adding calories to the diet.” This was interesting because even though I was not consuming any more calories, I still felt a little fuller while I drank my water. 

My main takeaway from my first day of the challenge is that protein is a very important key nutrient that I was missing. When buying groceries I thought it was important to have at least one source of protein which is my eggs for breakfast. However, I made a mistake thinking that this would be enough. One of the first headings on the Canada’s Food Guide directly states “eat protein foods” and directly on the website there is a visual showing that some form of protein should take up a quarter of your plate or bowl each meal (Government of Canada, 2019). To think, that two out of my three meals did not have a form of protein at all scares me a little bit. I am going to infer that this will be the reason I struggle with this challenge throughout the week.

When looking at the old Recommended Number of Food Guide Servings Per Day (2007) I definitely did not meet the daily serving requirements of any of the main food groups. Keeping in mind this data may be out of date, but the newer version does not have a serving guide that I could find. However, I had 0/2 servings of milk or alternatives, 0.5/2 servings of meat and alternatives, 3/6-7 servings of grain products, and 2/7-8 servings of vegetables and fruit. This was quite terrifying for me to see because if you had to live like this for an extended period of time there may be some very serious health issues that arise such as nutrient deficiencies.

yukimura: pre-fates, leading up to it and then some headcanons

exactly what the title says. this is for my personal reference if i ever need to write supports as him in order to keep the lore consistent. feel free to adopt these hcs as your own. :D i might add more to this at a later date.

At the time of Corrin’s kidnapping, ages were as follows: 

Yukimura, 25; Ryoma, 13; Corrin, 5.

Corrin comes back after 14 years. (19 years old at Fates start)

Sumeragi’s death left a wife with no clue on how to rule and a son too young to do so. 

Yukimura becomes the de facto leader of Hoshido until Ryoma was old enough to assume his duties as prince. (Approx. 7-8 years)

Rumours circulate that Mikoto is just a puppet ruler and that Yukimura had ulterior motives for the crown.

A civil war troubled the country since there was no proper ruler. 

The civil war was not ended by Yukimura and Sumeragi loyalists but rather put on hold. Civil unrest still lurked in the hearts and minds of the citizens.

Saizo and Kaze’s father was one of the casualties of this war.

Eventually rival clans made their move at the peak of the Nohr & Hoshidan war by making deals with Nohr to take advantage of the weakened crown.

Despite Yukimura basically running the show after Sumeragi’s death, Mikoto still has to officially approve some of his decisions as ruler.

Which includes declaring war on Nohr.

To which she refused.

Mikoto decides to focus on reinforcing Hoshido’s defences. Her explanation is that the country is too weak without a proper ruler to guide them into war. Cue war-ready karakuri being made en masse to strengthen borders and the famous barrier that made Nohrians lose interest in invading Hoshido.

Azura’s kidnapping was NOT approved by Mikoto.

Yukimura still did it anyway and hired Shura’s gang to do it. He argued that the country needed a bargaining chip to have a shot at getting Corrin back.

Mikoto was not pleased. At all. She insisted that Azura be then treated as one of the royal family after negotiations failed.

He ends up being a father figure to the royal family.

Mikoto usually confides in him about worries in balancing being a ruler to a country she was not raised in and a mother to someone else’s children.

Usually the one to calmly talk to the kids about lashing out at Mikoto because ‘she’s not their mother.’

Manages to create simple toys for the children despite his busy schedule. Hinata especially likes them.

Like how Corrin sees Gunter, Azura and Hinata see him as the father they never had.

To the older children, Yukimura is more like an uncle or an older brother. 

Generally messy/unkempt appearance since he’s too busy running back and forth keeping the country together. 

He wishes he can stop and make himself look presentable for once but he never gets the chance in those 7 years.

He is actually really conscious of his appearance but is somewhat resigned to his unkempt state since he’s so busy.

7 years of running the country by himself also made him dependent on a cup of coffee to keep himself going.

He’s used to being busy.

Post-war Yukimura still does his duties as advisor to the crown as he did before but has considerably less work thanks to Ryoma.

More often than not, he’s at loss as for what to do now that he has free time.

(YUKIVES) His relationship and eventual marriage to Yves Prospero was a controversial move. 

Rumours that she had ulterior motives never stopped circulating. They still lived happily despite that.

He sees Yasuo as a younger brother.

Like Yukimura, Yasuo became Sumeragi’s disciple and as a result the two grew close- forming a brotherly bond.

Yukimura tried to look for Yasuo after he disappeared but was unable to devote enough resources in the search due to the civil war.

PSA For All Lyft Riders

I used Lyft to get home from work today and something very uncomfortable happened to me.  He started off talking like all Lyft drivers do, asking how my day was and what my interests were, typical stuff right? Not for long!

It wasn’t long after when he started getting very personal. He started asking if I get hit on a work, if I had a boyfriend and if we lived together/ how long we’ve been together, my star sign and even asked for my fuckin’ phone number! 

I didn’t think anything of it since I thought he just wanted to be friends but then he told me he was 31 years old!!

HE’S 31 AND HIT ON A PASSENGER WHO’S 19!!
