A/N: I LOVE THIS SONG so so much, and I hope I did Nico justice - this is my first time writing him, so I hope I did well! And I'm sorry for making them pop girlies, it's for the sake of this fic(and I'm extremely sorry for writing them all badly - I'm still learning. Once hockey season starts, I'll try to watch some games(if my attention span allows it))😭

And if you catch my stranger things and Dandelions(song by Ruth B) reference, I thrown in there, then I'll love you a lot.

To say you were nervous was an understatement. You have done performances before. You were on tour, after all. But something was different, your boyfriend Nico was here. And you didn't want to mess up, not even the slightest bit.

You tried to steady your breathing, and that was when the man of the hour appeared right in front of you. He greeted you instantly with a hug and a kiss on your temple, not wanting to anger your manager if he ruined your makeup even a tiny bit.

"Hi baby." He mumbled in your ear. "You look beautiful."

You chuckled in the hug and looked at him. A huge smile was plastered on his face. "Thanks, honey." You smiled. "It's nothing special."

"Nothing special?" Nico laughed. "You're the most beautiful person I've ever seen, Aphrodite could not compare."

"Nico." You dragged his name. "Stop it."

"No way!" Nico shook his head. "Not until you believe it."

"Nico, don't," you warned him. He looked back at you with a not so sorry look. He instantly started ticking your sides, making you laugh. "Babe stop!"

"I'll stop once you believe me." Nico looked at you with a stern look.

You continued to laugh even more before finally giving in to his demands. "Alright, I believe you." You panted. Nico planted his hands at your waist as if by memory.

"You're gonna do amazing." He whispered in your ear.

You smiled softly before asking. "Who else is here?"

"Just Luke, Jack, and Dougie. Everyone else is knocked out." He answered. "Jack wanted to come backstage with me. I told him no."

"And why did you do that, Mr. Hischeir?" You said playfully.

"Well, soon-to-be Y/N Hischeir, I wanted to see my partner before anyone else could." He answered honestly and in a serious tone.

You laid your head in his chest to ignore the giddy feeling you would get whenever he called you 'his partner.' Your stomach was doing flips, and he knew it. Before you could come up with a reply, your manager called your name telling you it was time. You gave Nico a warm smile, one that he had grown to adore as he dropped his hands from your waist.

"I'll see you later." You promised.

"Can't wait." He smiles as he makes his way back to the vip section.

You appeared on stage minutes later with a huge smile on your face. Your fans cheered loudly as they saw you and sang along to all the songs, making you laugh at how good they were. "I swear you guys are better at remembering my lyrics than me." You had joked.

The fans cheered in response, and you took a quick glance at the vip section, something you have been doing all night. When you caught Nico's eyes, he gave you a wave, and you smiled in response. Fans noticed this interaction began to cheer even louder. They haven't seen you this happy in a long time. But that all changed when you met Nico, now all you can ever really do is smile.

"Alright, uh, I know this is sudden, but I wanna try something." You picked up your guitar. "The next song is something that I wrote but never released." Your fans cheered in surprise of about to be hearing an unreleased song. "I like to think I wrote it too soon, and then I just forgot about it." You laughed.

"But tonight there is someone I really wanna dedicate this song to. I mean, I wrote it about you!" Your fans laughed as you shook your head with them.

"But yeah, you're special to me, and I love I have for you will only expand and as one in lyrics 'I see forever in your eyes' and that's completely true. I love you, and I know you know that, but I'll always be telling you that. Sometimes, you're like a poem I wish I wrote. Weird comparison, I know sue me!" You chuckled to yourself and made eye contact with Nico, who mouthed the three words back to you.

"Sorry for rambling. uh, this song is called 'So American', and I hope you like it." You began to play the familiar melody on your guitar and put your mouth near the microphone. "Drivin' on the right side road, he says I'm pretty wearing his clothes."

Your fans erupted with cheer as they realized it was a love song.

"He's like a poem I wish I wrote, I wish I wrote." You looked at Nico, smiling big as you sang your way into the chorus.

The fans cheered even louder, all having smiles on their faces.

"And he laughs at all my jokes, and he says I'm so american," You sang. "Oh, god, it's just not fair to him to make me feel this much."

Nico looked at you like you hung the moon with a huge smile on his face, a smile that he had recently gotten from you. Jack had only noticed a week ago when he said a bad(like really bad) joke, and the two of you held identical smiles while Nico pushed him in annoyance.

"They said they're gonna marry you, dude." Luke pushed Nico's shoulder playfully while Nico's face began to flush.

You began to sing the second verse which Nico didn't like as much. He could never find you annoying or rude, his fellow teammates laughed at his reaction.

"Dude, relax. They're just in love." Jack teased.

"I really love my bed, but man, it's hard to sleep when he's with me." You began to jump up and down. "When he's with me!"

You sang the chorus as Nico looked at you in adoration, and of course, his teammates singing the lyrics terribly wrong but tried their best even if they didn't know the song till a couple of minutes ago.

Dougie sang off key(like very off key). "I have no idea where he goes, and he says I'm so american."

Nico gave him a look, and he immediately shut his mouth. Jack tried to stifle his laugh but failed, Luke joining him as you sang the bridge.

"But ain't it love? Cause I'm in love." You smiled big as you sang the chorus one last time.

The crowd screamed at the top of their lungs as you sung the last bit of the song, you strung on your guitar more than what needed. Before officially ending the song and the concert.

"Thanks, New Jersey. You guys were so loud tonight, I love you all. Good night!" You yelled, the fans cheered and clapped in response.

You ran backstage, and after they took your mic pack off of you. You quickly went to your dressing room and changed into some comfortable clothes, removed your makeup, and undid your hair. Minutes later, there was knock at the door alongside hushed whispers.

"Come in!" You called. The door opened, revealing Nico and the guys. "Hey guys,"

Jack ran to you, shoving Nico aside and giving you a big hug. "You were amazing! Like the dancing, the songs, the puns, and the new song. It was so amazing!" He gushed.

"Thanks, Jack," you hugged him. "Seems like somebody missed me." You looked at Nico with a stern look.

"Of course I did, I was gonna come backstage, but then Nico was all like," Jack cleared his throat before doing the impression. "No, Jack, go back. You'll see them after the show, I get to see them first because I'm their -"

"Alright, I think they get it." Nico cut him off abruptly.

"Somebody's jealous." Dougie snickered.

"You sure it ain't you?" Luke asked.

"Isn't it past your bedtime?" Dougie looked at him with a questioning glare.

"Isn't it time you died?" Luke retorted. "You already hit 30."

"Alright, you two cut it out." You told them.

"Yeah, guys, cut it out." Jack rolls his eyes.

"Jack." Nico warned.

"Okay, bye, guys! It was nice seeing you Y/N." Jack pushed the two other adults out of the room, despite their protests of only seeing you for five minutes.

"I think we're alone now-" You were cut off by Nico caressing your face and kissing you with the most upmost passion. Nico then pulled you in a hug and held you tight perhaps even tighter than Jack.

"I love you so so much." Nico muttered in your ear.

"I love you too." You broke the hug to look at him.

"The song was so beautiful I mean wow." Nico gushed. "I honestly have no words."

"My eyes must be deceiving me, did I just make new jersey devils captain Nico Hischier speechless?" You taunted.

"Shut up." Nico kissed you again, with even more love than before.

so why was he so bothered by you talking to hischier on your way back from the bathroom?

first of all, hischier shouldn't be on the hudson river. sure, the devils played at ubs that night, but he should've gone back to his side and found a bar in new jersey.

or literally any other bar.

second of all, hischier was a nice guy, mat could admit, he might've even been a little funny. but mat was positive that he wasn't funny enough to warrant the way you were throwing your head back and laughing.

it shouldn't have been that big of a deal, he had just gotten a hat trick that night, he scored the game winning goal. he should've been fine. but all he could think about was why you were laughing at hischier's joke instead of kissing him.

in an instant, his arm was wrapped around your waist, an action that shocked you out of your stupor for a moment until you smelled his cologne lingering on his clothes.

"hi baby," you smiled, and for a moment, mat forgot why he was even heated. "i was just talking to nico here about the game."

impressive isn't the word he'd use. irritating was more like it considering hischier had actually scored on mat earlier in the game.

thankfully, or maybe not, hischier jumped in before mat had to admit that the man played a good game. (he was usually such a good sport, just not when his fiancée was involved.)

"your boyfriend here played a good game, though," nico started. "got a hat trick--"

but mat interrupted before he could continue on. "fiancé," mat corrected. "we're getting married in the off season."

he didn't know why he said that. the date hadn't been set officially, but it was slipping out of his mouth before he could stop it.

hischier blinked and nodded. "right," he said. "sorry."

you cleared your throat and smiled. "it was nice talking to you, nico. see you around!"

not if mat could help it.

you were pulling mat away from the swiss man and towards a table full of his teammates, but you stopped halfway and crossed your arms over your chest.

"wanna tell me what that was about?"

he shrugged but wouldn't meet your eyes, until you took a hand on his chin and redirected his line of sight. "mathew."

he rolled his eyes and sighed. "i missed you."

"aht," you made a noise in the back of your throat. "try again." he scowled but didn't say anything. "were you jealous?"

he scowled even harder, if that was even possible. "i just didn't like that all your attention was on him," he said.

"mat, baby," you replied, hands cupping his face. it was the first moment of serenity he'd felt since driving you to the bar. the cold metal of your ring was soothing the heat that had been simmering under the surface the entire time you were talking to the devils' captain. "i was just being nice."

"i know," he groaned.

"so what's the problem? i'm going home with you at the end of the day."

mat smirked and snaked his arms around your waist. "yeah you are."

you rolled your eyes, but stood on your toes to kiss him anyway. "let's go home, i hear we have an offseason wedding to plan."

I’m abt to post a new clarisse FIC but I just wanted to go on a rant abt this

SPOILERS FOR PJO

Clarisse and silena Were in love. Ive already made a post abt thhis before but I wanna just like elaborate

- “Clarisse is in love with Chris and silena is in love with Charles beckendorf”

Yes that’s true but have you ever noticed how differently clarisse treats female characters vrs male characters. She softer and while still a bitch not an actually shitty person to characters like for example annabeth, silena and more, in the sea of monsters she was concerned for annabeth after she broke her ribs but in the next line insulted Percy.

She is also seen countless times being kinder to annabeth in multiple different scenes while still be harsh to other male characters. She gets ruthless in the war meeting in the final book and all she said is “I apologize to only silena” or something like that. When have we ever seen clarisse apologize than to silena

- “clarisse went into the labyrinth to find Chris she loved him”

Clarisse went into the labyrinth to find Chris, the only reason for this was because he showed up to her house in Arizona. She felt responsible to get him back from camp. She also helped nurse him back to sanity until Dionysius could help.

Clarisse felt responsible for Chris, that’s why and she can still love him platonically. That’s how I’ve always viewed their relationship was them being platonic.

- “silena and clarisse Were Just good friends that’s it”

Clarisse and silena Are direct parallels to Achilles and Patroclus, two characters in the Iliad who are very clearly lovers.

I Said it once I’ll say it again, Rick most likely didn’t think about making both girls the parallels to the myth until he was already writing the book. If he had decided on that way before I firmly believe he would of made them both together

But I would also like to add his books came out in the early 2000’s the last Olympian coming out in 2009 and queer represantion wasn’t as “common” as it is now. With Disney also being his publisher he was probably hesitant to even introduce a gay character in his books let alone two sapphic women.

Yes we started to see change for queer identies in the early 2000’s we also have to still think that again Disney is ricks publisher, even Disney didn’t really start being more accepting of LGBTQ+ identies until recently.

- “well if all that’s true why didn’t Rick just make them in love in the final book”

I Just explained why above but also he had already written their relationships out, silena and beckendorf in the demigod diaries or which ever one it was and clarisse and Chris in the battle of the labyrinth.

He can’t just go back and completely rewrite the cannon relationships he has set without it being weird.

In the end even actors like Dior who plays clarisse says that her character and silena will have a more sapphic relationship and with the show coming out now and with season 2 being announced, Rick having cannon gay characters a whole book about nico and will who are to young men in a relationship going through Tartarus, I belive Rick will make silena and clarisse have a more romantic relationship compared to the books.

Also we’re going to be seeing a lot of change anyways, Rick wrote these books YEARS ago and of course like any artist you will critique your old work. So again I hope we see a more developed and romantic relationship between silena and clarisse especially since Clarisse is very much a lesbian coded character

Asshole! I was praying for a slow pitstop besides the penalty but they were more than prepared to put the tyres in under 2.5 seconds. Thanks to Lewis, Checo is now P3 in the Drivers Championship. Fucking hell.

Ever since I was signed for Mercedes is like he hates me. I get that after 2016 he’s been having a rough patch, but that doesn’t mean he should bottle all my chances of doing well in the championship too!

Now I know why Nico and Valtteri gave up so soon.

Of course I went to see the podium. Charles was P3 and I was very proud of him. And for Max too. We were childhood friends and I’m glad for all of their successes. When they saw me under the podium, both of them rushed to wash me with champagne and check out to see if I am doing well.

“He is a great guy! There’s no doubt to that, but due to the pressure Mercedes puts on his back, it’s like he becomes a whole lot of different person on track. I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose” Valtteri tries to reassure me but I don’t seem to calm down.

I could feel my heart breaking when I felt my car going on the gravel and into the barriers. I was more scared about my career at that point, than my own self. I was so close to winning and in a glimpse, it was taken away from me.

“I don’t know Valtteri. He is a nice guy but I feel like he does it on purpose, so Toto won’t take me seriously and kick me from the team. And I don’t wanna mess up my chance. I don’t know which team is willing to take me in if I get sent out.”

Before Valtteri could finish his sentence, a flash figure appeared right next to me, slowly approaching. It was Lewis.

“Hey Valtteri. Uhm, do you mind if I steal Y/N for a moment? Can we talk in private?”

He look at me then at Bottas with a worrying look as if I would say no. That was my intention at first, until Valtteri gave me a look to go and talk to him.

“Yes, sure Lewis! Also Congratulations on the win!” Bottas flashed him a smile and paves his way back to the Alfa Romeo garage.

Lewis kept looking at me while I was looking at every other driver being interviewed, and alongside them Toto talking with George. Oh no! My heart sunk for a moment. Was I going to lose my seat to Russell? All because of an accident that I wasn’t to blame? I hoped to god this didn’t happen.

“Can we talk please? Y/N?” He softly grabbed my arm and I flinched at his touch. But why did I though?

“Ok, speak!” I finally faced him. His eyes were filled with sadness and disappointment. That’s definitely not the look a winner should have.

“Can we go somewhere more privately? I don’t want to be here. I promise I won’t waste your time” he almost seemed as if he was begging

“My time as it seems is over, so why not give my remains to you. Let’s go” I followed him back to his motorhome. There, Lewis locked his door and put the ‘Do not disturb’ sign outside. Weird. Really odd

“So what’s up? What did you wanted to talk about?”

“I wanted to talk about the crash”

“What about the crash?”

“I want to apologize. I panicked. You barely left any space and with Max pressuring me from behind, I didn’t think clearly. If I had pulled back, there was a possibility all three of us would end up on the wall or crash to each other”

“So you decided to just throw me in the wall? Your teammate?”

“Instead of being crashed my both Max and me, I’d be easier to lead you towards the gravel. That would ease your way to the barriers and wouldn’t get hurt as much as you would have”

“You could have gone outside of the track and overtake me from there. Would have been a penalty, but still a double podium for the team. Or do you truly not care about the team and just yourself?”

“You know it firsthand that being in a position like this, inside a car, going at 300 speed is risky and decisions aren’t easily made under pressure.”

“Still you benefited-“ before I could finish my sentence

“I couldn’t give less of a shit about the championship. I don’t care about the race nor me winning. At that moment and every given moment whenever we race I think about you and how I want you to finish the race in a good position. I’m always hoping it’s first or at least on the podium. Whether I had 7 or no championships, I would still care about you”

The words that came out of Lewis’s mouth, left me truly speechless. Is he seriously thinking about me during the race? When everyone else is thinking about the win or a decent finish?

“If you don’t believe me, ask Bono how many times I’ve asked about you on the radio after your crash or every other time during the past races. Go ahead”

“No no, I-I- I can believe it. I’m just curious about the why? Why care about me? Teammates should obviously care about each other but not think about the other during the race or generally ask about them on the team radio”

It seemed like Lewis was struggling to find an answer for my question. He was trying to say something but simply couldn’t. As if a wall had been lifted that was preventing him from saying it.

“Because I am actually mad for you! I would lose all my races just to see you succeed and smile on top of the podium, than be on the podium and not smile because you’re second”

Lewis came closer to me with us being inches apart from one another. We had never been so close. His hands cupped my cheeks, while mine were unable to move. I didn’t move away from him. I felt the softness of him surrounding me.

“Do you have any idea how mad I was when I saw you hugging the other guys after the podium and not me? I would have died to be at their shoes that moment. And almost every time you hug another driver after the celebration”

His lips were mere centimeters away from mine slowly closing the gap, on what made it our first kiss. His smooth and soft moves made me feel as if I was in heaven. My heart and brain were shocked. Suddenly, the kiss became hungrier, which led Lewis’s tongue interact with mine. That lead to me letting a soft groan come out of my mouth. He picked me up and lead us to his small bed on the motorhome. I was placed on his lap and kept on kissing one another. His mouth begun leaving my lips and following a path down to my neck. My nails dug deep into his back, removing the shirt he was wearing, revealing his multiple tattoos on his tinned chest. Sweet lord. His fingers were caressing my womanhood hardly, until I felt the wetness underneath me. Was I actually doing this with my teammate, who I had sworn he hated me?

“That will teach the others a lesson”

“What lesson?”

“Never steal my teammate”

tbh I'm mostly shaking about the next ep and impending season finale, but this one was still pretty brutal

firstly, the goofs. vash fucking SNEESING and getting ruthlessly bullied by wolfwood is pretty much in spirit of their relationship in 98' anime and I'd love to see more of it (pls I hope there'll be a season 2)

scar reveal! I was afraid they're gonna give him a glow up and yeah, some scars are barely visible, but the other ones look awful. so, everything I hoped for, good to see he's in pain /j. also nico tried so hard not to stare at shirtless vash... he's looking away respectfully

vash is such a wet cat pathetic paperbag of a guy... just let that guy take a shot, barely flinched, took the bullet 'cause he thinks he deserved it. didn't even think of attending the wound until wolfwood said so. and, mind you, vash doesn't have any superhuman abilities so that must've hurt like hell

nico's job is so funny because to keep vash safe he has to get into mega epic fights, but also remind that idiot to eat and take care of wounds. again, vashwood duo feels more like the original now, after the sandsteamer. I think nico actualy started caring about vash since he saved the orphanage, it's great to see him conflicted with his mission

also policemen from ep 1 and the guy who shot vash are like... second best side characters in stampede and this is not a compliment. the best ones are nomads who ate worms btw

oh meryl, she's gonna girlboss so hard now... woe to all the haters and naysayers, she's getting character development and faces the same conflict as vash and nico thus gaining more narrative significance!! don't get me wrong, manga and 98' anime meryl was a crucial character, but she's getting much more freedom in stampede to develop and get into action

the moment where she gets up during wolfwood voiceover is when we start to see the "iron lady" and I'm so here for it! now we just have to wait for her designated therapy dog girlfriend to appear and when I can be at peace

and the words that he says to vash hurt so much more because it's true. he does love humans, but the main thing driving him is guilt. in stampede, more than ever, vash blames himself for pretty much all human suffering, because he helped the great fall happen. no wonder he's so depressed and not nearly as goofy! homeboy doesn't just protect the lives rem saved, his pacifistic quest is penance for all the people he (thinks he) killed

Liv’s not used to being the centre of attention so when Luca shows interest in her she’s taken aback and doesn’t really know how to react. It takes Liv a lot longer to admit her feelings for Luca than it does for Luca.

Liv and Luca meet because Lio and him are training together in the off-season. 

They knew each other from their dads and as teammates for Team Switzerland at World Juniors. Luca reached out to Lio to see if they could train together in the off-season after his rookie year.

Liv was dropping off the bag for Lio that he left behind, but was met only with Luca lifting weights. He pops an ear bud out at her approach. 

“Ah, hi, is Lio here?” She flips her sunglasses off as she steps into the garage turned work out facility. She tries not to stare at the way his biceps strain under the weights as he lifts them back to a resting position.

“Yeah, they went to run the hill. He should be back in a minute.” Liv glances to the left, seeing three figures off in the distance.

“Livia, right?” She brings her attention back to the gorgeous man with glittering sweat and rippling muscles.

“Um, I go by Liv, but yeah. Luca? We met when we were babies I hear.”

“Supposedly.” His brown eyes trail along her figure, then an easy smile pulls his lips farther apart. Liv blushes, resisting the urge to look behind her for someone more interesting. “Feel like I would have remembered though.” Liv blushes harder, biting her lip and glancing back towards her brother.

“I didn’t realize you trained in Switzerland.”

“I usually don’t, but I’m trying to switch it up to get to the next level. Figured enough players have trained here and been successful, so I should try.”

“My dad always said the Swiss mountain air was the secret to his success. And Uncle Nico’s.” 

“I hope that will be the same for me.” He murmurs, licking his lips as he wipes sweat off his forehead. 

“Hey, thanks, Livy.” Lio says as he comes next to her. He takes the bag from her, startling her into looking away from Luca. His eyes remain on her, not caring about Connor or Lio returning. 

“Well, I’ll let you boys get back to the grind.” Liv widens her eyes sarcastically.

“Wanna hug before you go?” Lio asks, stretching his arms out. Liv wrinkles her nose.

“Ew. No. Bye.” She blows a smooch at her brother. “Are you coming to the house later?”

“Ah… maybe. I’ll text you.”

“Kay.” She nods. Her eyes find Luca who smiles back at her, perfect white teeth and admiring brown eyes. 

“Bye, Liv.” He calls with a slight wave. She politely returns it, cursing at the pink filling her cheeks again while she heads back to her car.

Liv doesn’t see or hear Lio slap Luca upside the head.

Romy, I don’t know why but this weekend Lewis was literally there for shits and giggs! And nobody can convince me otherwise. Something was definitely in the air there in Las Vegas because this weekend was pure chaos.

He literally was more interested in his side quests and I loved that!! First it’s +44 then it’s Almave and the most surprising part of the weekend his Fortnite collab! 

It’s like f1 was his part time job. The amount of promoting he was doing for said side quests which included him being a bartender🤭 like why couldn’t I have been in Vegas as well to experience that!!

Anyway, I just loved his vibe and energy, like the video of him talking to the group on Mclarens insta, that video of him shaking Carlos before the driver parade🤭, him and Checo and that part where Charles’s pats his back😭🥰!! 

This weekend was the peak of a pure unhinged version of “it Lewis’s world and we just living in it” I really hope we see more of a carefree Lewis💜💜

You are so freaking right, Lewis looked so happy and carefree, I loved it! And like, after the race when he was like "just wanna get outta here" to the reporter XD

He doesn't give a shit anymore, it's really nice to see! And he was so nice with everyone... Which made me wonder, actually, since he was in such a good mood, what do you think would've happened if Nico had been here. Just IMAGINE. Him coming up to Nico and acting all friendly just to steer chaos, and leaves Nico absolutely confused. Conclusion, we need Nico to come to Vegas next year.

When you say it looked like f1 was his part-time job, though, you're right and it scares me a little cause I can't stand the idea of Lewis ever getting bored and leaving... But let's hope it's just the Vegas effect that makes him giddy (and probably approaching the end of the season and be rid of the w14 for good)

1. She-Ra

I didn't like season 5 as much as everyone else seems to. I know that it was the last season they got and they had to wrap up relatively quickly, but Catra's redemption felt rushed in places, especially after seeing her "regression" arc develop over four seasons vs the one season of redemption. I think she got forgiven by others a bit too easily (mainly Scorpia she deserved so much better and Catra treated her horribly and took advantage of her for years and suddenly all is forgiven and hugs all around). There was clearly a plan on how the redemption would unfold and i think it could have worked if we got more episodes or one more season, but they just didn't have enough episodes to pace it more organically i think. They did well with the episodes they were given though, but as a whole it was unsatisfying for me. Also I watched it right after rewatching atla so after seeing how fleshed out Zuko's redemption arc was (who we saw redeem himself outside of the main group, apologizing to his uncle, and then the one on one forgiveness episodes to develop individual relationships with each main character) it was underwhelming

2. Legends of Tomorrow

I just don't really care about avalance. Lowkey stopped watching for a while because I got tired of them. They had their moments and they grew on me eventually but overall their relationship didn't really interest me

3. Warrior nun

Lots of people think the bar scene is when ava realized her feelings for beatrice but i think she realized her feelings sometime between s1 and s2 (she HAD feelings in s1 but didnt realize it til later)

Also as much as i love avatrice i really hope we get to see ava and beatrice's relationships with OTHER characters develop. i want to see more ava and camila friendship, i want to see beatrice and lilith (they grew up together!! i wanna see this!! and now suddenly they were on opposite sides of a fight after being allies and now are they going to rebuild that trust?), I wanna see more ava and lilith (both of them had the responsibilities of being/becoming the warrior nun both of them had all that pressure i wanna see them bond about it i want their begrudging friendship); I WANT TO SEE MARY AND LILITH INTERACTING WITH EACH OTHER

4. Heroes of Olympus

sorry but will and nico felt forced in the way that leo and calypso felt forced: seems like rick just took a random background character just for the sake of pairing up a main character :// at least its more interesting in terms of the juxtaposition of the brooding son of death vs the optimistic and bright son of the sun. honestly tho overall most of the non-percabeth ships i dont have strong feelings about because rick just....didnt build them up as much, i didnt really feel the /build up/ of any romantic feelings for any other couple, despite heroes of olympus also being 5 books (probably due to the fact that there were too many main characters rick had to create and develop alongside the plot and there wasnt room to do both well). Lowkey i think it would have been better that if he were to make nico and will mains in trials of apollo, he could have had them officially meet and get to know each other as friends/allies and then develop romantic feelings throughout those 5 books. As it is and how i felt after BoO, it seems like at the end of BoO, nico returns to CHB and gets a crush on the first cute guy he sees and then that just automatically means he gets to date him (HOWEVER i havent read toa yet and mb ill like them more in that and i do want to read tsats....cant say id say the same for a stand alone leo x calypso book)

5. Class of '07/Parks and Rec

This is more of a gripe with the trope in a lot of sitcoms of the (usually) fat nerdy/oblivious soft-spoken character being constantly brushed aside and dismissed. Eg Laura (ie forgettable Laura, whose whole nickname is about how everyone ignores her, she's constantly interrupted when she tries to actually be helpful to the group etc) and Garry/Jerry (constantly belittled, getting misnamed even on his tombstone). Overall not a fan of having a character whose sole purpose is to be mocked constantly

Shit decision if you ask me. I'm curious what Haas' agenda will be when Nico won't drive the car into the top 10 every race and will crash it sometimes cause it's shite and he's been out of the sport for quite a bit as well. I'm not saying Nico is a bad driver, he has experience and I'm sure (and hope) he will do good. However, from Haas' side it's just simply a stupid decision imo to boot someone for one bad crash (this season, there were a few more last season), when Mick was outdriving Kevin almost every weekend. (With no hate to Kevin, I love him and he did good too.) Seem like they forgot that just because they are doing a bit better their car is still a bad boat and isn't on the level where it's easy to drive and you won't crash it when it gets unstable on you. I just really don't get this decision.

I can only hope he comes back stronger with Audi when they enter F1 or gets a seat somewhere else. Cause, genuinely, the guy's got some skills and I don't see a team giving him another chance being a bad thing. He just needs a car that doesn't wanna dive bomb every wall on him cause it's just simply shit. It wasn't a small bite for a rookie and he still did good. Imagine if he had an actually good or at least midfield car.

found out via the last few wip wmondays that a good way to hold myself accountable and just, like, keep track of my writing progress is to shove it into the void of tumblr and hope for the best. so, now that the arranged marriage au is done and handed off to my beta, here are snippets of the next few fics up in the queue for me to work on: (as usual, read at your own risk)

1. undead jack/witch nico — this is one of two spooky-themed fics i’m hoping to get out before halloween this year. i workshopped this idea a couple of times and after a couple :/ misses on my part, my beta helped me come up with this. it’s a little more serious than my writing style has been lately, but it’s still fun.

Somehow, waking up to an unfamiliar naked body in his bed isn’t the concern for Nico, nor is it that they have the prettiest face Nico’s ever seen.

No, the concern is that the body has no heartbeat, yet is somehow very much alive and very much looks about to suck Nico’s dick.

2. demon trevor/college student jamie —  the second one of my spooky fics for this season and this one is pure shenanigans and chaos, as any fic featuring these two should be. 

So here’s the thing: Jamie doesn’t mean to summon a demon. He was really just trying to pass OChem, and now he’s suddenly soulbonded to the most annoying floppy-haired, bright-eyed demon he’s ever seen. 

Well, not that he’s seen many demons, but his point still stands.

3. matthew/leon in the starbright universe — two people left comments on the quinn/thatcher asking about the little tease of the matty/leon i put in there and, consequently, made me think about them a little too hard. i don’t have anything written out that’s not in bullet points so no excerpt for this one yet :/

4. jonas/nico/jack — there is now never a time when i’m not thinking about them. i just think they’re so neat. here’s a little bit of what i have but i don’t wanna say too much.

Once the door closes, Jack turns to face Jonas, his arms crossed over his chest, defensive. “So...?”

“So,” Jonas echoes, “Do you want to talk about why you ran out the other day?”

“I mean…” Jack shifts on his feet, looking to the side. He looks uncomfortable. Nervous, even. “Not really.”

“Too bad. Talk to me.”

Jack kind of looks like he wants to stomp his feet. Jonas tries really hard not to find it as adorable as he does.

5. jack/nico time loop au — this one’s been on the brain for a hot second. it’s taken a while because i’m trying out something new with my style and i keep being unhappy with it, so we’ll see how it goes from here. might need another overhaul.

Nico swings by the box after Jack’s been shoved in, shaking his head as he hands Jack his gloves, stick, and bucket. 

“Stop being reckless,” he says. He leans a little closer. “You never know when the loop’s going to end, Jack.”

“I’m fine, cap,” Jack replies, grinning. There’s certainly blood in his mouth,  staining his smile. He should probably take stock of his teeth. Something uncontainably feral sinks its claws into his chest. “Go score for me, cap.”

Nico shakes his head again and skates away. To his credit, though, Nico does score while Jack looks on from the penalty box, whooping and proud.

6. quinn/brock/elias racing au — a second installment into the racing au that i started with the jack/nico take the wheel fic i posted because apparently i have many thoughts and feelings on quinn hughes that simply have no other outlet. anyway this has been so much fun worldbuilding-wise and there’s definitely another fic ft last year’s umich boys that i’m incredibly stoked to get a start on for this universe as well.

“I don’t trust you,” Brock says, point blank.

Quinn pales. “What?”

“No, as in—” Brock gestures vaguely, searching for his next words. “I don’t know you enough to trust you yet. That’s why I’m still doubting your calls, and the hesitation time is killing me. Anyone can see that.”

And he’s right. Those precious fractions of a second that Brock waits to punch it before a jump, before sliding into a different lane, wastes grinding on the edge of the track—they all add up. Quinn glances over at Elias, who’s just standing at the edge of the garage, hip cocked against the wall and arms crossed, just watching. His expression is unreadable.

Quinn looks back to Brock, nervous. “Okay? I’m— I’m sorry?”

Brock sighs. “We gotta fix this. Come on.” He tosses his helmet onto one of the workbenches and walks out, swinging his keys around his finger.

“Wait, what?” Quinn’s lost, looking between Brock and Elias, whose lips have curled up into the barest hint of a smile.

“Let’s go, Huggy Bear,” Brock calls over his shoulder.

in conclusion — this is very different from the fic-preview-update-thing i posted last time because what my brain decides it wants to work on is completely unpredictable and i’m simply subject to its whims. also i keep coming up with new ideas, so that’s been screwing with the order rather substantially. anyway, if you made it to here, i’m impressed. thank you. the semester’s picking up rather substantially so i’m white-knuckling it through midterms over these next couple weeks, then i’ll hopefully have a little more time to write again. but we’ll see.

finally finished ex-aid (it’s frankly kinda embarrassing how long it took me) so i wanna write down my many but very specific thoughts

disclaimer: fourze is the only other series i’ve completed so i can only make comparisons to that

1) costume & prop design — ok i’m not an expert obviously but tbh i wasn’t a huge fan of the suits’ design this time around. the color schemes are too… distracting and everyone kinda looked the same except for some tweaks according to their motifs. the suits where they have two gashats activated also look kinda messy?? but i get what they were going for. i honestly don’t like the gamer driver’s design at all. it’s tacky and i can’t take them seriously when they’re trudging in with that on their waists 😭 there’s a shot in ep 43 where taiga’s kneeling on the ground and hiiro’s standing next to him, but it was shot from the height of hiiro’s waist so you see his gamer driver on the top of the screen and it wasn’t a pretty shot LOL. i’m also not a fan of the fact that everyone had the same driver but i get that it’s like a console. coming from fourze from which i absolutely loved the suit and unique driver designs (especially meteor’s yes i am biased but no his design is so me) this was probably my biggest pain point about the show. then again, i’m not familiar with retro gaming so maybe it’s just me and that the designs are not my cup of tea. the gashats are cute though!

2) character dynamics — i’m the kind of person who focuses more on character dynamics than the plot and i think ex-aid really excelled in this. imo the difference between the dynamic in fourze vs ex-aid is that fourze is stronger in the group dynamic while ex-aid is stronger in the pair dynamic. although i love the KRC as a group, their pairs are mostly centered around gentaro so we didn’t get to see a lot of other pairs’ interactions as much as gentaro & [KRC member]. in ex-aid, most of the other characters’ most substantial interactions don’t revolve around emu (e.g. kiriya & kuroto, hiiro & taiga, taiga & nico, etc.) except for parado and poppy i think. of course, emu is a driving force in their character developments and vice versa, but the story focused on those specific interactions a lot more. what i’m trying to say is that i like KRC > CR as a group, but CR pairs > KRC pairs (except genryu and genken because i’m already insane about them).

3) plot — one of my favorite things about the plot is the ethical dilemmas that the characters face as doctors. how much truth do you reveal about the patient’s condition? what does it mean to be a doctor? and my favorite: “above all i must not play at god” (e.g. hiiro’s dilemma with bringing back saki who was believed to have died 5 years ago). that, coupled with dan masamune’s and kuroto’s god complexes? perfect. on that note, i love how the characters were written. i think this season’s writers really did sumn. but i’m also not great at literary analysis so i can’t elaborate more than this. side side note: i really hope iwanaga got at least one award for his acting cuz he was fantastic. looked up his wiki and found out he’s an irl genius made it even better. perfectly cast.
