Just saw somewhere that an FFX PS5 remake might be in the works. And whether or not they decide to mess with the story like FF7, it still irks me that there's nothing new under the sun.
Well, if they're gonna do nothing but remakes, reboots, and reworks then at least they're doing it to stuff I personally like...

FFXIV Dissidia AU where Omega summons the champions to do battle in order to understand what mortals fight for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cloud got pulled away from a date at the Gold Saucer so he wants to finish this- NOW
Anyways, I just thought this squad would be funny because these are arguably the most popular Final Fantasy games. Which is also double funny because everyone but Cloud is from a new gen FF game. Also also Elysia already knows Noctis and Clive because of those crossover events so... the dynamic is fun.
I will make more screenshots of this because I have soooo many ideas for the squad's dynamics. Like, Clive is the quiet responsible one, Noctis and Elysia are having wayyyy too much fun, and Cloud is just... broody lmao. It's also kinda funny how Clive, Noctis, and Elysia are all royalty or royalty adjacent but Cloud is just a normal fucking guy.
Also, this group's main foes are Sephiroth and Zenos- aka psychopathic pretty boys who are obsessed with their respective heroes.

i like how dissidia writing captured lightning and cloud’s parallels better than half the fanbase is capable of understanding through her “i know what it feels like to be a tool,” line.
lightning a puppet of the fal’cie/gc and he of sephiroth/shinra is the common ground under which they find solidarity.
in their first in-game interaction she’s a vehicle through which he seeks to protect tifa, because she too is a protector (of women). in nt she takes up his mantle in avenging sephiroth’s victims (women). in woff he chooses going after and protecting her (aerith adjacent via maaya sakamoto) over revenge, embracing his new creed. i've posted before about lightning's reappropriation of the buster sword in her own efforts to overthrow bhunivelze, and in an abandoned nt plotline she was set to do the same with sephiroth. she gets her own lightning returns quotes that emulate his personality and are her impersonation & interpretation of his journey.
woff pairs cloud with lightning and zack with serah, serah using her experience with lightning distancing herself from her to convince zack not to do the same with cloud in this world. through their dialogue we learn lightning's also introduced cloud to snow, a man whose heroic mantra and swagger echo that of zack's, to say the least. (in opera omnia cloud rolls his eyes at snow's bravado and surety, not unlike lightning's initial impression of snow.)
the canon lightning post-lumina and cloud strife dynamic is actually just her teasing the shit out of him as established in woff and opera omnia. “want to make it a race, cloud? 😏" “so i take it that means you cherish us 😉" “you can practice all that cherishing on the way home 😌🫦" "let me guess, sephiroth? there's only one person who can get cloud like this 🙄🤭 " cloud respects lightning's strength to the extent he absolves himself of her responsibility when terra accuses him of leaving lightning to face a summon alone. at the end of woff the lone two nod and work together to ensure escape of their comrades and thee ff princesses.

Tankdge
I honestly think they're the easiest class to play in FFXIV, but it's really funny to me that in a game full of bottoms none of them want to take lead the taid and take responsibility so you get these awkward 6 minutes standing around waiting for one of the tanks to pull. Anyways-
1. Paladin
This is perhaps one of my biases poking out again, but I think that Paladin is perhaps in its best state right now with its kit as a whole. It provides multiple utility options to help heal the party while at the same time providing a fairly good amount of damage all around. Even its rotation has been mathed out to play much smoother and, in my brain at least, makes sense and oils the gears well. When a Paladin plays well, you KNOW they're playing well with how often they are mitigating the party. It's not the strongest tank, but it offers so much that I would call it the pinnacle of tanks in FFXIV.
2. Warrior
Warrior is Unga bunga incarnate. I think all of its skills really sell Warrior as a tough, unrelenting brute force of a tank, it's game feel is honestly unparalleled. Fell Cleave remains one of my favorite skill animations in the game, and now it's been followed up by Warrior's new skill Primal Ruination. The mere fact that it makes your equipped weapon MUCH bigger for a giant explosion blow is unrivaled. Much of its kit remains largely the same and like every tank it also had and upgrade to one of its mitigation skills, but other than that it's still probably the strongest healing tank et al with Bloodwhetting and Nascent Flash. The only reason why it's in second place is just because Dawntrail Paladin exists, but I think it's a very close second nonetheless.
3. Gunbreaker
This is the COOL class, this is for all the FF8 fans and by golly did it show up swinging. I believe as of this writing it is the strongest tank in the game which only makes sense because of its 100 capstone ability that adds a really cool Dissidia-like combo to GNB. While I enjoy the double weaving combo now, I do have issues with its abilities drifting as I'm performing them as the Big Combo and Gnashing Fang combo take up a solid 20 seconds of time and if you miss one GCD things start to misalign and feel weird. Its mitigation also isnt anything to write home about either, but Heart of Corundum is a nice healing skill, Aurora is largely the same, and Superbolide is still very funny. Still very cool though!
4. Dark Knight
As much as I LOVE the lore of Dark Knight, it's aesthetics, it's skills, everything about it, it's kit has the most identity crisis I think I've seen of it yet since Shadowbringers. It's whole idea was that you had a small amount of mitigation tools and instead you brought nothing but yourself and damage as a tank to the party. But that was Shadowbringers, when the other tanks' mitigation wasn't as good as TBN. NOW they're all upgraded and even better as they bring healing to keep up with all the damage that's being put out. But Dark Knight doesn't have any proper healing abilities now, it just has the one upgraded skill, The Living Dead, and Abyssal Drain that isn't even used on single targets. Even worse, it's by far the WEAKEST Tank now as they removed Blood Weapon and didn't really give anything to compensate for it since most of Dark Knight's damage came from Edge of Shadow being weaved in. I think it's currently the most outdated class that needs to be looked at proper to regain some sort of identity outside of being Warrior 0.5.

are you gonna play the FF9 event tomorrow
Lol no.
Even though I like FF9, I really didn't want dissidia-esque crossover events in EC. And I honestly don't care enough about it to tune in. Really, I'm getting seriously frustrated and jaded about the lack of story content, as well as the over emphasis on costumes and tickets. I don't care about that stuff. I just don't.
If there's Seph content in this, someone let me know. But honestly, if it weren't for the fact that I want to finish FS's story, I would have dumped the game by now. The level of grinding and difficulty spiking is too irritating for such a paltry level of new content.
Genuinely starting to believe we might not get anything of substance until next year. Which is so depressing it's not even funny.

Hello Aeryn! I love your Thancred x Aeryn fanfics and I wanted to ask. I apologize if this sounds confusing, but when you write as Thancred do try to stick with how the game portrays him or do you take liberties and make your own version? I had a fun idea where Thancred is the Son of Squall and Rinoa and classmates with my OC. He gets summoned to Eorzea when he grabs hold of my OC, I’m taking inspiration from an Ikémen phone game and he’s sent back in time to have his life be as the lore the game says. I like the idea that he gets his memory back when pulled to The First and just like G’raha, his soul of Eorzea and soul of FFVIII’s world combine when he returns to Eorzea. Just an example of what I am asking. I hope you had a wonderful New Year’s!
Happy New Year, and thank you! Always nice to hear people like my pairing 🥰
I try to keep NPCs, including Thancred, as close as I can to canon portrayals, at least as how I see them. I chatter with other friends and Thancred fans and sometimes take their perspectives and ideas into account, if they caught something I think I maybe missed or didn't consider due to my own experiences and POV, but overall, I mostly more or less stick to the FF14 lore as written, with only a very few exceptions, and my own ideas for the world of FF14 if we don't have specific lore (yet), like my Thancred backstory, "Rogue's Prelude" which was written over a year before his background short story came out.
My style is more "play within the lines, 'missing scenes' and introspection of events" than anything.
I do think Thancred follows the archetypes the FF8 characters portray too though, and the idea of being an orphan cuz he's really a long lost son from another world portaled to Etheirys is an interesting one! The worlds are connected, and there's always Dissidia or Opera Omnia shenanigans to play with in that way, too.

hi hi there!! i saw some accounts with little introduction pins and was like ohh… maybe i should do that…
so anyways, hi! i’m ren! i’m fairly new to tumblr and tumblr etiquette but i wanted so badly to make a ff4 account so that i could interact with the fandom. i’m very (not) normal about this game, and could talk about it for hours, so my hope was to meet like minded people and interact with them (which has been going well so far ily all.)
i write and draw sometimes but i’ve been super busy and lazy recently. at the moment i’m just trying to make up for it by being silly funny, but i do want to do something bigger at some point.
i do rp as well, but again, i wouldn’t have the energy to upkeep an actual rp account as things are right now, but i will throw it out there if anyone wants to write together!
ummm! in addition to ff4, i also really really like
- ff14
- dissidia
- the legend of zelda
- fire emblem
- dunmeshi
most of my non-ff4 postings can be found on my other blog @elidibuns.
i think that’s all i’ve got in terms of introductions… feel free to raid my dms and talk to me anytime!!

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Special Title Draw Banners Tickets Pulls Results Part 2
The Special Title Draw banners just showed up in the Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia (DFFOO) mobile game.
Tumblr media
Sadly, the reason why these banners showed up is because DFFOO just announced that it will discontinue or end its service on February 29, 2024.
That announcement came as a shock. Really wish that wasn’t true. Wish the game wasn’t ending at all.
Tumblr media
I talk more about that in another post. In this post, will talk about the results of my ticket pulls on the Special Title Draw banners.
This is actually a continuation of another post. Had to split the posts since the 1st one or part 1 already reached the max limit of 30 pics per post.
Special Title Draw Banners Information
There are a total of 7 Special Title Draw banners. All the weapons that have been released up through November 21, 2023 will be available in these banners.
Special Title Draw Banner 1 features all the weapons of chars from Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy Type-0.
Special Title Draw Banner 2 features all the weapons of chars from Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy VII (#ad).
Special Title Draw Banner 3 features all the weapons of chars from Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy X.
Special Title Draw Banner 4 features all the weapons of chars from Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy XIV, and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
Special Title Draw Banner 5 features all the weapons of chars from Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy XIII, and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
Special Title Draw Banner 6 features all the weapons of chars from Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy XI, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Special Title Draw Banner 7 features all the weapons of chars from Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy XII, and World of Final Fantasy.
Special Title Draw Banners Tickets Pulls Results
Here are the results of my ticket pulls on the Special Title Draw banners. Have a lot of tickets, and a lot of my 10-draws just give me the usual bronze and silver trash and/or the occasional gold dupe.
As such, decided to only take a screenshot if I get a Force (FR) and/or Burst (BT) weapon regardless of if it’s new or a dupe. Will also take a screenshot if I actually get something new or something I haven’t fully max limit broken yet even if it isn’t a FR and/or BT.
Will also take screenshots if I get an interesting enough 10-draw like if an unusually high number of golds show up or something.
Got a dupe of Minwu's (from Final Fantasy II) FR from a force orb.
Tumblr media
My 1st copy of Minwu's FR hasn't been limit broken yet.
Tumblr media
This 10-draw also gave me a dupe of a char's 15cp.
Tumblr media
Another force orb gave me a dupe of Gabranth's (Noah fon Ronsenburg from Final Fantasy XII) FR as well as 2 15cp dupes.
Tumblr media
One of the 15cp weapons belongs to Reks from Final Fantasy XII. My 1st copy of his 15cp has been limit broken twice so this dupe will finally let me fully MLB said weapon.
Tumblr media
Got a dupe of Zell Dincht's (from Final Fantasy VIII) Ex.
Tumblr media
My 1st copy of this has been limit broken once.
Tumblr media
Got dupes of Jack's (from Final Fantasy Type-0) LD and King's (from Final Fantasy Type-0) LD.
Tumblr media
My 1st copy of King's LD hasn't been limit broken at all.
Tumblr media
Got 2 15cp dupes as well as a dupe of Rubicante's (from Final Fantasy IV) LD.
Tumblr media
My 1st copy of Rubicante's LD hasn't been limit broken at all.
Tumblr media
Got a dupe of Edge Geraldine's (from Final Fantasy IV) LD and a 15cp dupe.
Tumblr media
My 1st copy of Edge's LD hasn't been limit broken at all.
Tumblr media
Whenever I get a regular blue orb, I usually just quickly tap the screen to get to the draw results screen right away. That's because these usually give me nothing good anyway so don't want to bother waiting for all the bronze and silver trash to show up.
But this time, a regular blue orb actually ended up giving me something new.
Tumblr media
When I got to the draw results screen, was pleasantly surprised to see a Burst weapon. The BT even turned out to be new. It belongs to Dark Knight Cecil Harvey from Final Fantasy IV.
Tumblr media
A force orb gave me a dupe of Cissnei's (from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) FR.
Tumblr media
Another force orb gave me a dupe of Weiss the Immaculate's (from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII) FR.
Tumblr media
Got dupes of Hope Estheim's (from Final Fantasy XIII) FR and Faris Scherwiz's (Sarisa Scherwil Tycoon from Final Fantasy V) Ex.
Tumblr media
My 1st copy of Hope's FR hasn't been limit broken at all.
Tumblr media
Got my 1st copy of Gilgamesh's (from Final Fantasy V) LD.
Tumblr media
This is one of the few LDs that I'm still missing.
Tumblr media
Got my 1st copy of Krile Mayer Baldesion's (from Final Fantasy V) FR.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Got dupes of Aeris or Aerith Gainsborough's (from Final Fantasy VII) FR and Cait Sith's (from Final Fantasy VII) Ex.
Tumblr media
A force orb gave me a dupe of Balthier's (Ffamran mied Bunansa from Final Fantasy XII) FR and 2 15cp dupes.
Tumblr media
A force orb gave me a dupe of Garnet Til Alexandros XVII's (from Final Fantasy IX) FR.
Tumblr media
And that’s it. For this post, at least. There’s more but gonna have to talk about the rest of my Special Title Draw banners tickets pulls results in another post since already nearing the max limit of 30 pics per post in this one.
Conclusion
So what about you? What do you think about the news that DFFOO is ending its service on February 29, 2024? Did you pull on any of the Special Title Draw banners using tickets? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.

Yuffie 2 - Clerra edition
Hello everyone. I have to mention more about Yuffie since I remembered/noticed more.
According to FF7 fans, the relationship mechanic and the Gold Saucer date are like...50% of the game based on how much people mention it. It'd be surprising if it was even 5%. Well, get rid of it from your brain for now!
Unlike the last Yuffie one where I didn't really care what I posted, this one is more Clerra-related.
In Balthier's Lost Chapter in Opera Omnia, Yuffie says this line:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This cutscene (called "Best Buddies") released way before FF7 Remake (it's the 4th one from a couple hundred lost chapters in the game). Anyone's who has played her DLC understands why her words strike a cord as it is hinting at it years before the Remake released. Well, Sonon came and died, so it would have to be someone else, right?
Yuffie does not appear very often in Opera Omnia. In Act 3 and 4 (both Chapter 7s) she'd walk into a few scenes alongside Cloud (Cait is also involved to some degree). Cater's Lost Chapter much earlier in the game has some stuff too, but there's not anything "worth noticing".
With the scene above in mind, what does Yuffie say at the end of her DLC?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who does she want to join her team?
Tumblr media
A cloud...?
Oh, this reminds me. My interpretation about the beginning of "Hollow" was that of "a person flying in the sky talking to clouds as if they were talking to Cloud". Take out the "fly" part and this may apply here as well.
Moving on.
I'm not exactly sure if this camera trick is a "thing" (camera tricks have been used before), but it's easier to notice when you put the speed to .25x. At the end of Advent Children after Cloud wakes up in Aerith's church after Moogle Girl and the group talks to him, he turns his head around to look at everything in front of himself before noticing Aerith and Zack.
He turns his head around past them just enough that Yuffie's pretty much in the exact middle of the screen. I wouldn't find this odd if she didn't have that flowery shirt on.
Tumblr media
That shirt has 5-petaled flowers. In the ancient year of 2005. I've mentioned a few times that 5-petal flowers signify Terra because they literally are from her clothes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also appear on:
The pattern on Miss Folia's shirt.
Sprinkled around a Dissidia Arcade (2015) screenshot of Cloud-Terra-Onion Knight fighting WoL-Lightning-Y'shtola.
All over the Aerith-Cloud synergy attack "Firework Blade" which looks like Terra's similarly named "Riot Blade" attack.
The 2020 New Year's card featuring Terra as a mouse ("year of the mouse") riding Magitek armor with the flowers trailing behind her.
I suppose there's more, somewhere. Yes, the year FF7 Remake released was the year of Terra Branford according to Square Enix.
To a person who just found this bit of information, it probably doesn't "feel" like it means much. Most people point at Aerith whenever flowers are involved, but there's a heavy consistency concerning flowers with 5 petals. What's weird about Yuffie is that I've had such a hard time believing that they were doing this all the way back in 2005. Terra wasn't even a 3D character until the end of 2008...maybe this is where the hint started? They have leaves, which may bring some doubt, but they still are 2d flowers with 5 petals.
I mean, this is the end of Advent Children. Yuffie does nothing significant...ever, so how do we get from her to all this random stuff involving Terra?
What's the theme of the Advent Children ending? "Cloud Smiles"? Maybe that's part of it.
Ever Crisis just had a Valentine's Day event called "The Secret Sweetheart" - <Click Here for All Cutscenes>
The background and the ticket pull for this event is Yuffie (who kinda just joined Ever Crisis). In the event, Yuffie is shown starting a rumor:
Tumblr media
They all make cookies for Cloud after this.
Every single character says they started that rumor in their own cutscenes and Cloud just "believes them" (maybe I don't have the context?), yet Yuffie is the one that mentioned it first. Yuffie's solo cutscene is different to the others as Cloud doesn't mention to her how her cookies tasted like or all the "nice" stuff the others show (Ever Crisis is trying to be more OG-like than FF7R...although you get Yuffie right after leaving Midgar and she has a chocobo).
How can Barret start the rumor if he literally has no idea what Yuffie was talking about when she mentions it? (Is this actually a Valentines tradition?)
Well, beyond trying to find out what's up with the event, it sure seems like elements of Jessie (like telling Cloud to smile) are implemented into Yuffie even before we get to see Rebirth. We know very, very little about her role in Rebirth (probably in the same way they didn't show Zack much).
My mind tells me that she's more of a permanent low-key (or maybe the better word is "secret") Jessie. Thinking about it a bit, the characters so far can be split into duos. Aerith and Tifa are shown as a duo and I think Barret and Red XIII are a duo, so in this regard Yuffie and Cloud are the other duo with the DLC ending and DFFOO hint. I'm not sure of the other three characters, so my reasoning can be flawed, but it's there, isn't it?
If that's true, does that make her the "second-in-command"? How about that word no one wants to hear when describing Yuffie? THE HEROINE? Would a surprise Terra's reveal minimize Yuffie's role for the next game? Probably not since Terra can't bother the OG storyline with her presence (can she can appear in it tho'?).
Maybe a lot of the Terra stuff will be explained through Yuffie "emulating" it. By "stuff" I mean things that even I don't know.
There's another thing...
Yuffie started a rumor? How about Mireille in FF7 Remake and her "rumors"? How about Kyrie starting rumors? Y'know, Kyrie? That character that's literally "not-Yuffie"?
You first see her on the train from Chapter 2 all the way to the very end of the last side quest where she's...
Well, the entire conversation involving Kyrie and Mireille takes place in front of Aerith's flowers. She just walks to there and the quest stays there until Mireille takes her place at the very end of the side-quest...staring at the flowers just like she was in the exact same spot.
Tumblr media
It could be that Kyrie represents Yuffie and Mireille (who is the "Guardian Angel of the Slums") represents Terra (outside of being made from Lucca and Robo of Chrono Trigger). This is why both of them stare at the flowers...it's a hint.
If Kyrie is staring at the flowers, this does mean she's taking the role of "the Angel" before Mireille replaces her.
Considering there are two timelines...maybe Yuffie and Terra are...ah...well, there could be two Yuffies...maybe I'm stupid and none of this is anything! Although I do wonder if they cut something from Yuffie's OG character and made her optional for that reason...and we'll get to see what "that" is.
Doesn't Yuffie's theme play around the point the Kyrie side-quest starts where Johnny gets his wallet stolen?
Unless the next part of the demo has something surprising, this may be the last post until the game.
(Yuffie calls herself "treasure princess" in Crisis Core). There's been "debates" on whether or not she's technically a princess.
There's also that thing where Priscilla is technically Rikku (FFX)...or literally Rikku. I'm not going to bother with that, but she does know Yuffie. It would be on-point since Rikku called Yuna "Yunnie".
To people who are unfamiliar with Clerra - the characters involved tend to be young, sometimes very young. Being young is part of the symbolism.

Annon-Guy: How do you feel about enhanced versions of games being exclusive to certain consoles?
You see, Gungrave G.O.R.E. got an Ultimate Enhanced Edition on the Switch with 100 Gameplay Balances and changes, new playable characters and lowered the gory content to get it's classic Teen rating back... AND IT'S SWITCH EXCLUSIVE! Which bites sense I Plantinumed the original game on PS4.
Depends on the circumstances.
Back in the Day Soul Calibur II was especially popular as a Nintendo Gamecube title because of Link being a playable character, but because it was Nintendo exclusive, Bamco couldn't use Link for anything outside of Nintendo platforms.
And Nintendo is also pretty stubborn about not porting things to PC, Steam, Epic Games, Arcades, and so on...
Even to this very day you'll find fans who make Link as a Custom character in Soul Calibur 6 (to say nothing of the DLC "mods" that let you turn items in to a Hylian Shield and the Master Sword).
Other games have had "exclusive" DLC practices on various consoles and that doesn't always translate well to later ports of games years upon years after they were released for now-outdated hardware.
Funny thing, however... especially with PC versions of games, modders and fan communities will often muster up content to "enhance" a game long after the Developers are *officially* finished with it.
So, for example, if you didn't buy the "exclusive deluxe edition" of Code Vein for example... some modders put together a mod that still lets you enjoy the DLC content that was featured in the Deluxe edition.
This also happened with the PSP version of Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy... a lot of exclusive "limited time offer" DLC skins were downloadable at various "rare events" but almost nobody had access to that content because of how rare it was... goes to show that such practices would eventually lose favor with consumers. It was much later that some kind souls in the FF community donated the skins for FREE as a save file add-on you could play via PSP emulation or via a modded PlayStation Portable.
And, given that years upon years after a game is released... if it's not ported to a modern platform, it is instead thrown by the wayside... or ends up a mod project or emulation project by community fans.
Even some official "ports" of older games don't always make the translation well, which leaves it up to FANS to fix the mistakes from time to time.
And of course, this includes things like adding Rollback Netcode to fighting games, or even porting sound files from the original Arcade version of a game in to the PC version to "enhance it" (which is basically what happened to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, and even BlazBlue Central Fiction).
In other words, if you want the "best" of something, usually the PC version is the smartest choice, due to fan-made options like I listed, or simply the prospect that a game can later be emulated on PC through various means.
Of course, not everyone likes using PC as a platform, because of technical things, getting outdated hardware, or they just don't want to mess around with the difficulty of learning how to run a PC as a game platform (even though much of what was hard about it has been mostly streamlined thanks to platforms like Steam).
Sometimes it's just an issue of compatibility, where you want your joystick or controller to work on a game console that suits you for playing.
In terms of DLC practice, unless it's something you absolutely can't live without or drastically alters the state of the game in ways that make the standalone game inferior... honestly such exclusivity is bad practice in general and best ignored until something better comes along, or a bundle edition exists.
Either that, or simply determine for yourself if such content is worth buying a whole console over.
Truth be told, I had "extreme reasons" for buying many of my games over the years.
Reason for buying a Sega Genesis: Sonic Spinball / Sonic 3 and Knuckles Reason for buying a PlayStation: (None, was secretly gifted, but I never regretted owning one after I bought the first Guilty Gear)
Reason for buying a Gameboy: Tetris. No doubt in my mind.
Reason for buying a Gamecube: Legend of Zelda Collection with Zelda 64 Master Quest. I also ended up getting Soul Calibur II as said earlier.
Reason for buying a PS2: Guilty Gear X Plus (I had to mod my PS2 in order to play the import of this by the way.)
Reason for buying a PS3: BlazBlue Calamity Trigger. I'm proud to say that after all these years.
Reason for buying a PS4: Gundam Breaker 3... the trailer alone convinced me. Owning Soul Calibur 6 on this platform is also nice.
Reasons for buying a PC: Technical reasons, and the fact I want to become a game developer myself one day... also the modding communities are more than convincing! I've done my OWN modding projects myself (which you can find on my blog).

My FF7 Rebirth theory craft.
I think this bitch is a sequel and Cloud is trapped between worlds.
Cloud who has spent compilations extras moving from one fan thing to another, like from Tactics, to Dissidia, to Kingdom Hearts, to whatever fucking else, finally pressed the FF7 Replay button.
Problem is he's haunting himself, and in his mako infused blood, he's followed by the living memory in him of old Sephiroth and Sephiroth's dark energy is in the life-stream and with him in his "edge of creations".
This Sephiroth sees an opportunity to win all games if he takes over Cloud totally and make him his dark boy who reigns destruction down like meteor. So, his goal is Cloud does OG again sure, but his way.
Enter Aerith, also the infused in everything life-stream gal, who gives herself the heads up at the reactor mako scene in opening. A nod to old OG.
But when she sticks around to meet and tell Cloud, she's attacked by the dark Whispers.
Whispers aren't just on the nose fan things, they are representative of all the creative timeline's lives. Good and bad. Things both trying to keep the life-stream and surviving worlds aligned hence neutral, black ones guided by darkness, or the white guided by light. So the dark set try to rob Aerith of her knowledge to prevent change and help the dark guy, Sephiroth while neutral also helps cause she also wanted change, you know, to live and see Cloud and co. again.
Yada yada Remake unfolds. Moments of spectral Aerith being the life-stream one. Imparting memories of future on people because they would have done this before, etc. and "fate" trying to correct or line up stuff for best ending world survival.
Team both succeeds and fails, when they rift open, as they've opened a life-stream alt to change everything, defeated that predetermined set, and this gives Sephiroth and Cloud each their shot.
It opens the life-stream to those, who wanted to change this fate.
Enter Zack. Who is getting his second chances. Enter Biggs, who died wanting to do more as example. They make choices and multiple live and die again.
But these choices and worlds within worlds mean the life stream is splitting at the seams, represented by each new Stamp world and the sky rifts. Representing with how people are out of time, in multiple places, and have that inter-connected feeling.
Downside, it robs our group's Aerith of the Cetra heritage memories, her orb, cause naturally it was the OG's life-stream past. It's robbing the life-stream of energy and weakening it too, so helping Shinra and Sephiroth. Weak world's collapse, just as people can't outrun their pasts, and that too helps Sephiroth's goals. Again as last standing, he's vying dark world, dark Cloud.
Our group carries on unknowing. Sephiroth goading Cloud to mistrust Tifa, setting them all for anger, and blessing/taunting Cloud to save Aerith both to twist the knife and win.
Life stream Aerith meanwhile hid in an accepted fate world. Her avenues and goals are to keep Cloud uncorrupted. And through his life-stream connection she pulls him to her to get her OG white materia and give to that our group Aerith. It ensures there is hope for stopping meteor in this world again. She also sends surviving choices Zack around timelines to save him and help out, cause he's a good soldier.
So what's going on in Rebirth ending and Aerith's death? Aerith both did and didn't die. The OG Aerith always has been dead. Died both at the accepted fate church universe and by killing herself in our group's timeline. She's also still alive in split limbo, in the life-stream as always, as she never had a chance to really be saved or live. Twist is, Cloud thinks he has created or his changed a timeline and saved her too in one timeline and not another, and Sephiroth was down for it, but she's pulled a reverse Sephiroth and just made it her own strong spirit timeline alt to be with Cloud in this Cloud's saved world and memories. Sephiroth thinks that won't do much. That he can convince Cloud she's not real or this is good for grief. And he's impressed. But he's gonna be more so, cause Aerith has saved herself! I am talking our group Aerith, who she actually saved by pulling her out earlier than the Forbidden City. That's right, Aerith when she made the materia switch, coma-ed/memoried up our group Aerith. In another world unknown. In the Materia without the white perhaps.
This is about to be some sleeping beauty shit.
Essentially our group, and Zack, has to save Cloud from himself right now and their world from corrupting thanks to Shinra probably still chasing depleted mako/life-stream and Sephiroth's usual shit. Group is living the reality where Aerith died. Cloud is mentally tripping between this and in his dream one. Only seeing spirit Aerith trying to help him in his mental anguish when she could through her body just after death, hence why she woke and told him he's okay but didn't move, and her life-stream kickass buddy up, and for the rest he's seeing the Jenova/Sephiroth alt trying to gaslight him with his own grief and memories like at the lake. Hence Red sensed good Aerith's silent presence after, cause that was all she could do there now, and Cloud was talking to himself or the Jenova/Aerith before he took off, leaving just spirit Aerith behind.
Team has to fix Cloud's mind and heart and find out the truth, then find our Aerith in the materia world, before she wakes up. IE recovers her memories and Sephiroth kills 2.0 and wins. This is like Marlene said.
I predict Tifa being best gal ever to help out Cloud, and possibility woo per choices, Zack being best BFF ever and getting his closure by helping too then returning to his death and life-stream with cheesy okay and honor, OG Aerith meeting herself and getting happy to see me live somewhere closure, and timelines converge where Cloud has to pick a fate of staying in an Aerith's back world or going back to the group all the while killing Sephiroth and Jenova for good by killing his grief that they threaten to corrupt him with.
I just hope the whispers are fucking gone soon.
Fun times.

WIP Tag Game
Rules: in a new post, show the last line you wrote and tag as many people as there are words.
@vinjaryou I have to participate because the last line I wrote seems a bit dubious… hahaha!
This was from a few days ago; me attempting to breakdown more of that ¿Dissidia? madness from the other day. 📖
There was something refreshing about seeing that heavily hidden tail of his out in the open, though.
Tags are free game for this too! (Not sure there are even seventeen people available for me to tag for this specific thing, so...!) 🥹 Let's just say I don't know who all is a writer vs. isn't here, so if you're a writer and want to have a go at this, have at it. 💕

DFFOO - Regrets and Memories
Tumblr media
I haven't updated this space in a long time because I've mainly been playing visual novels and I already put down my thoughts in those posts, but now I have something for this blog!
Anyway, even though Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia (DFFOO) has become too grindy for me, one thing I love and appreciate is the story. I 100% recommend it because it gives you a lot of "what-if" scenarios I wish we could see. For example, for Final Fantasy Type-0, I really hated Machina by the end of the game. Apparently, you had to play it again on new game + to properly see his reasons blah blah, but I hated him so much, I couldn't be bothered lol. But in DFFOO, they used one chapter(?) of the story to convince me how much Machina regretted his actions, how much Machina cared about Class Zero, and how much he wanted to make it up to them. I honestly didn't think I would be able to forgive him, but after reading it, I really did, and I actually really like Machina now lol! It really goes to show how much effort the people behind DFFOO's storyline, and it also shows how much they understand and love each of the games because they show the emotions, personalities and thoughts of each character so so well. Another thing that's great about DFFOO is how it fleshes out characters who didn't have the opportunity to be explored more in their respective games. For example, Ultimecia from FFVIII is a recurring "villain" in the game, but her interactions with Noel from FFXIII-2 and Zidane from FFIX show much better depth to her character and how lonely she feels than it does in FFVIII.
Anyway, I started this post because I wanted to talk about Jecht from FFX. Obviously, if it's about Jecht, it's going to be spoilers so just a heads up~ Seeing Jecht think that he and Braska and them died for "no reason" after knowing how Yuna and them were able to stop the cycle of death with Yu Yevon and Yunalesca, it really breaks my heart. As Yuna and Tidus said, it was because of Jecht and them that they were able to find another way and have the will to destroy a system they believe is wrong. But it's true though, if I was Jecht, I would probably think the same thing. There was a method all along and yet they went along with the Final Summoning thinking it was the only way. Regardless, it still saved people and they did it for everyone, but it must feel crap knowing that they could have lived and been a part of Yuna and Tidus' lives.
Tumblr media
Another thing I like about DFFOO is how "beginner friendly" it is. They don't expect you to know or remember everything about every single FF game, so they incorporate things like lost memories or regrets with different characters to tell you the context without it being a word vomit. It makes sense within the game, and it helps people who haven't played the respective game before understand the character, and for the people who know the stories and characters, it gives off a nice sense of nostalgia whilst refreshing your memories haha.
Tumblr media
And the best thing about DFFOO? Honestly, if you're a fan of FFVII, you'll love how many characters there are in this game. For me, I love getting to see the Turks work alongside Cloud (for now), and I love getting to see more of their interactions with others, especially with people that we'll never get to see them interact with again e.g. Zack. But really, just seeing people who are "dead" get to live another life in this world/game already makes me so happy because they're all so appreciative of having this opportunity to see the people they love again and do things they could never do before is just so sweet. I mean, I love seeing Jecht bond with Tidus, I love seeing Machina apologise to Class Zero and form a better relationship with them, I don't even know Galuf but I love seeing Krile and him get to interact again, and I don't even know Cecil but I think it's so cool that he gets to see a grown version of his son Ceodore haha. And even though I barely played FFXV, it's nice to see that Gladiolus and Ignis have their memories of the "ending" of FFXV (but Noctis doesn't), and they just want to continue protecting Noctis and are happy that they can still fight alongside him. I just really like all these little things, and I think it's such a treat to FF fans. Btw, I don't know why but this ended up becoming a review post even though all I wanted to talk about was how sad it was sad to see Jecht feel regrets over whether his decision was right. I can never talk about what I want properly lol but I guess yay, mini review of DFFOO🤭

I think Dissidia is kinda dead as a FF spin-off (Opera Omnia on mobile notwithstanding) after NT was so bad, but ugghghgghgh I want a new Dissidia game SO MUCH in the style of the PSP ones, with a heavy emphasis on singleplayer content again while also having online multiplayer like NT did.
SO I'm gonna wishlist what I'd want to cope with my sadness that it'll never happen (and spoilers for maybe multiple FF games are to follow, maybe, idk, I'm typing this off the top of my head):
STORY: Just reboot the whole thing. Nobody cared about the new gods they added in the Arcade and NT games, but the story of Chaos and Cosmos was kinda done, so just start the whole thing over fresh like the others never happened. Be freed of the shackles of the convoluted plot of the past, and create a new convoluted story lol.
Now, what I think would be cool would be some kind of partner system in the story. Two characters having to fight together and if one got defeated the other goes too. Would make for interesting interactions between characters from different games, both as partners and as having to outlast the other groups? I'm not sure what the end goal would be, but picking off characters pair-by-pair would be kinda fun IMO, even more so if some heroes had to be paired with villains. Maybe each pair that gets eliminated in some form (not "killing" per se, but you know) feeds the crystals energy for... something... that the gods want... yeah, I dunno.
Also, the pair thing would be more of a story thing than for gameplay. Keep the assist system from Dissidia 012 and have where the partners are assists in the story, but in other modes you could just pick whoever as an assist. And have some bonus, assist-only character like Aerith was in 012. I always found it wild that she was literally the ONLY assist-only character in that game and that they didn't do more as DLC. Surprising level of restraint from SQEX.
-----------
ROSTER: Keep MOSTLY everyone who was in past games, including NT. I say "mostly" because I would trash Onion Knight and replace him with Luneth from the DS remake of FFIII. Sorry, I just have always hated Onion Knight's design and smarmy voice when FFIIIDS had better protag designs right there for the taking.
Some additions (in a reasonable number) for already-represented titles I'd add are:
Nothing for Final Fantasy I, II, III, V, or VI, sorry lol. The latter two already had 3 fighters anyway so they're fine. Also nothing for XI (never played it), XII (don't care about it and Vayne is already in from NT and he's the only one really worth it anyway), or XIV (never played it, though I am kind of fond of Alphinaud just because I had all his gear in FFRK and Opera Omnia so I guess him if anyone haha)
Final Fantasy IV Rydia -would be similar-ish in concept to 012's Yuna playstyle, but with different summons obviously and more regular magic spells interspersed in the moveset. I dunno, I just felt like one of the older games needed something and IV is my favorite of the pre-PS1 games. After Years outfit would be an alt ------
Final Fantasy VII Vincent Valentine -mostly ranged fighter with his guns and shotgun, though honestly I put him here just because I think it'd be cool fighting as him lol. His EX Mode would be when he turns into those monsters like in his Limit Break in VII. Also I'd love for him to have his Turk suit as an alt ------
Final Fantasy IX Beatrix -I actually kind of wanted Eiko or Garnet here but I'm not sure how they'd be different from all the other summoners either already in the games or that I want, so oof. Beatrix is cool and memorable and I think they could come up with something for her abilities in IX like Shock and all. Not sure what alt outfit she'd get since I don't remember her wearing anything else in IX? ------
Final Fantasy X Rikku -more of a X-2 rep in my mind since her thief dressphere would be her default IMO, but since she's in X as well I'll count her as both. Speedy melee attacker who would maybe swap to one or two other dresspheres for different attacks. Alt would obviously be her X outfit, though I'd also like her Songstress dressphere because I always though hers was cute. ------
Final Fantasy XIII Serah Farron -like Rikku, Serah is more of a stealth FFXIII-2 rep, but she was in XIII regardless so yeah. She'd obviously be able to switch between the bow and sword form of her weapon, and have some magic, probably Saboteur stuff because that's what I associate with her. XIII outfit as an alt for sure, though she also had some cute DLC outfits in XIII-2 that'd be cool
also in regard to XIII-2, I think it's kind of whack that Caius didn't get in as the XIII villain slot and they went with LR!Snow instead in NT, but I don't know that I'd replace Snow since I love his Lightning Returns design and he has that sick ice scythe, so RIP Caius, you deserved better.... ------
Final Fantasy XV Ardyn Izunia -super obvious choice, to give XV an antagonist. Also because I think we all pretty much like Ardyn, right? He's cool, and I think he'd be great to see in cutscenes in a new Dissidia. Not really much to say here since I think it's pretty easy to imagine how he'd play. Alt outfit would be his white robes look from how he was before the time of XV's story
Ignis Scientia -if I'm giving some games that already had 3 characters an extra one, then XV gets 4, too. Ignis deserves it most because he's my favorite of the non-Noctis Chocobros :) Could do his magic-infused daggers and all that, which is kind of untapped potential for Dissidia. Alt is obviously his timeskip look ------
Final Fantasy Type-0 Machina Kunagiri -the only realistic option for an "antagonist" from Type-0 IMO. EX Mode would be his White Tiger l'Cie appearance. Also, his dual-wielded drill sword... things... are pretty cool and I think would be fun in battle. Alt outfit of the summer Akademia uniform
Kurasame Susaya -LISTEN I love Type-0 and I'll do what I want here and add a 4th character. And I love Kurasame SO MUCH and so he's here because I say so. Plus, Ice Reaper? Ice magic and an ice blade and his Absolute Zero attack? HELLO? He would be so cool to fight as in Dissidia. Alt outfit would be his past look when he was an Akademia student
----------
NEW GAMES NOT ALREADY REPRESENTED IN THE SERIES:
World of Final Fantasy Lann & Reynn (yes, together) -I also LOVE WoFF so I have to give it respect here. I'd have where you swap between Lann and Reynn (think Sheik/Zelda in the older Smash games), each with their own little monsters that they send out to fight. And Lann would have maybe a claw attack while Reynn uses her dagger. Not sure on alt outfits though
Final Fantasy XVI Clive Rosfield -duh, the main character has to be here, but also I like Clive a lot so that's A-OK with me :) He'd be in his appearance from when he is 33, because frankly he's hot there and it is his best look by far. Would play taking advantage of his multiple Eikon abilities, like having an attack from each one since his big defining trait as a Dominant was being able to use all the other Eikons' powers. EX Mode would be when he is semi-primed, then the burst would be Ifrit attacking. Alt would be his outfit that got added in the update (the black one), or maybe his 15-year-old outfit but like... refitted for his older self? That might be kind of cool
Barnabas Tharmr -between him and Ultima for the XVI villain slot, but Dissidia seems to like to err on the side of the more "human" looking characters, so Barnabas it is. Odin is SUPER COOL in XVI so I think he'd be a great fit honestly! His EX Mode would be when is semi-primed with Odin obviously. I dunno what alt outfit he'd have though? I thought his knight looking outfit, but that's kind of already being used for the EX Mode, so uhh... huh
Joshua Rosfield -3rd slot for XVI. This is totally favoritism to take him over Jill, but to be fair, Joshua is like, a LOT more actually important to the plot and practically the deuteragonist of the game IMO. And I can't separate my Rosfields man, you just don't do that. Since Clive would be focused on all the Eikons, Joshua would instead be the main "Warden of Fire" rep here and use Phoenix-related powers. Phoenix Shift maybe could just be his (though I know that power is very Noctis warpstrike-y, but they'd play different enough otherwise I think), some kind of Flames of Rebirth attack, and overall be more magic-oriented than his brother. EX Mode is, again, semi-priming with Phoenix, with the burst being legit Phoenix attacking. Alt as his extra outfit from that recent update, though I think giving him a modified version of his prologue outfit (just, ya know, redesigned to not look stupid on an adult) would be cute. Or a riff on Elwin's outfit since Joshua was to be the next leader of Rosaria
--------
STAGES
Just a short run-through, since most would just be returning from before
FFI - Castle Cornelia FFII - Pandaemonium FFIII - Crystal Tower FFIV - Lunar Subterrane (this is one of my fave Dissidia stages btw) FFV - Interdimensional Rift FFVI - Narshe Outskirts FFVII - Planet's Core (Midgar was too confusing in NT, hated it) FFVIII - Promised Meadow FFIX - Alexandria FFX - Dream's End (I liked Besaid in NT too, but I think I liked the PSP stage more) FFXI - Empyreal Paradox (never played XI but this place is SO PRETTY) FFXII - Rabanastre FFXIII - Sunleth Waterscape (Orphan's Cradle in 012 and Eden in NT both kinda sucked and I think this is more visually distinctive) FFXIV - Porta Decumana FFXV - Insomnia (I would make this stage set at night this time tho) FFT - Orbonne Monastery FFType-0 - Akademeia Courtyard (with the Tempus Finis background) New Stages:
World of Final Fantasy - Nine Woods Hill FFXVI - Twinside (this is a tough choice; I think Twinside is associated with one of the best segments of the game and visually pretty, though I considered Rosalith or that Interdimensional Rift where Ultima starts lore dumping on Clive and Joshua)
-------
SHOOT I meant to mention maybe Zack as a Crisis Core rep, but honestly I guess VII has plenty and I don't know how much different he'd play than Cloud, so never mind. I feel like Zack deserves a slot, though, you know what I mean?
On a related note, I also think Marche Radiuju from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (FFTA my beloved) would be nice, but I have no delusions that he'd ever have a shot, and to be fair, even in my own fantasy roster, I feel like he'd be kinda weird to have in-game from a story perspective when he was from a "real world" type situation. If you played that game, you get it
