fanart for @tsunochizu 's backwards through the snow fic! im SO normal about this story (still emotionally recovering from chapter 15) i love this fic so much <3
they are the STINKIEST of family...
(for those who haven't read this fic, first of all, go read it now. but also pebbles is mostly ok. kinda. hes just dirty and stinky... amongst other things)
One thing that's incredibly annoying about the A:TLA fandom is how nearly every. single. well thought out piece of Zutara analysis is inevitably invaded by people who are massively condescending and allergic to media analysis in general.
If you don't like Zutara, that's fine - but why are you watching 2-4 hour long videos on why they would have been a good pairing if all you have to contribute is, "They weren't canon/you're delusional/they sucked/get over it lol".
It's very frustrating to pop into a fandom space and try to spectate on some thoughtful discussions, just to have it overrun by people being rude.
It's a little bittersweet but there is something strangely comforting in knowing other people also feel like their ocs aren't interesting enough sometimes.
Steve goes to Nancy’s house one day and he’s like “Nancy listen I have to talk to you I like-” and she’s says, “no Steve, try to understand I don’t like you like that anymore-” and steve goes, “no I know, it’s not you, it’s Eddie” and there’s a beat of silence before Nancy says, “it’s Robin” and they both groan in their hands.
(an hour later Mike walks into the room to find Steve lying on Nancy’s bed like a thirteen years old teenage girl, kicking his feet and all as he tells Nancy everything Robin likes while she takes notes)
(Mike goes, “uhm can someone drive me and Dustin to Eddie’s trailer” and Steve immediately jumps up from the bed saying, “ALRIGHT LET’S GO”)
Something about Hua Cheng's expression here is killing me--I know this is supposed to be a delicate moment of reassurance but the pure hater energy radiating off of him is just immaculate
people always gush about seiyuu and composers, understandibly, cause the biggest different between manga and anime as a medium is the sound, but I wish more people recognized and respected animators in the same way
anyway bringing this up cause maenami takeshi did this great cut from the uma musume anime that had a lot of people talking about
and now, they returned to do the final shot of the finale race and it looked amazing of course
I love the way they use smears which increases the feeling of speed a lot and how thick and messy their outlines are which makes their cuts feel super intense like the close up on both top road and opera's eyes looks so good
Allen: yeah so that's my trauma dump on how I was abused as a child until I found one person who showed me kindness. and then he died. the end
Kanda: so can I go dig up his body now or
this was both one of the most callous, horrendous things he's ever said to Allen and also one of the most kindest, empathetic actions he's taken towards Allen (or anyone, for that matter).
and he knows it.
he fully knows that he's being terrible, and for once he's not trying to rile up or piss off Allen. but he still insists on digging up Mana's grave—because he's the only one that can.
how are you gonna argue with a man who pulls out the dead bf card
Kanda is the only (?) character that can relate to this possibility—the possibility that Mana isn't dead and has been used. he's the only one that knows the turmoil of "killing" a loved on, living on with that pain, only to find out years later they're not only alive but have been turned into a puppet in the holy war.
Kanda, as an outsider who's just now hearing Allen's past for the first time, knows how suspicious Mana's story is and is the only one that can properly call Allen out on it at this point. he knows Allen is blinded by his love for Mana and has refused to question Mana.
but, even more than that... Kanda is the only one who can help Allen figuratively and literally uncover Mana because Allen did that for Kanda.
Kanda didn't want to face Alma at all. he didn't want to face his past, to confront that he was lied to, to confront that Alma had been a puppet the entire time. and in the process, he lost Alma again. it was only because of Allen that he was able to be with Alma for a short amount of time.
Kanda knows the pain of losing a loved one and having them used against you in this holy war, but he also knows Allen was the only one who could have helped him through that. and now it's his time to return the favor.
I just love how this is easily one of Kanda's kindest moments, where he's truly doing something for the better of someone else, and it's also one of the most ghastly things to ever ask of someone. and it's not a one-off line. he's standing his ground and refusing to take it back.
I aaaalso love how now that he's on a different level of understanding and compassion with Allen, he has to throw out his aggression somewhere, so it all gets directed to Link LOL
this expression? I'll be thinking about this for months
Kanda isn't actively fighting Allen -> Kanda has to fight someone at all times -> Crows led to Alma & him not being able to flee together -> Link is a Crow -> Link gets 110% of Kanda's aggression
@eggsaladed surprised me with this BEAUTIFUL piece of my tav, emrys, and I've been holding it up and showing it to everyone who is in breathing distance since. the armor? the expression? the NOSE? thank you so so soo much, I'm so in awe of how you took some blathering of mine about medieval-tragic-joanofarc-boyknight nonsense and turned it into something REAL and PERFECT and anyways, I'm totally normal about it. eggs does amazing stuff & everyone should go check out her other art, it's so impressive and I'm just wagghrhrhrhrrrrr <- [wailing sounds]
