As much as I like asshole big shot Spamton headcanons, I love the idea he was kinda normal and down to earth or more anxious/pathetic even more.

Like a lot of people make him an asshole to explain why no one helped him or why he avoided getting help cause it meant admitting to his shitty behavior. But from how everyone speaks about him before he went missing he was a decent guy, unlucky but they refer to him as prestigious and speak with regret over his downfall. He was probably a normal but shady guy (due to the phone) who was more an oddity than nuisance to those around him. A lot of him being a jerk as a big shot headcanons sorta stem from the idea he did something to deserve it or his hubris being his down fall and other than him clearly not having money to fall back on I just don’t see it that way.

A crux of Spamton’s character is that he is ultimately helpless and not in control of what happens/happened to him despite the knowledge he had been bestowed. That everyone is a puppet and he was punished for trying to be something more, something that he wasn’t. It’s a lot more bittersweet and tragic if he genuinely didn’t do anything crazy or sleazy until after his fall cause it just reinforces the idea that no matter what he did or who he made connections with or who helped him, he was never in control and someone else pulled the strings.

Spamton playing by all the phone’s rules, everyone else’s rules and still getting the short end is so befitting of his story and fits to why as a literal puppet he seems to out right refuse to adhere to any semblance of the norm or rules of convention.

Kloktober 2022 - Day 17

Crossover with a Horror Film

Decided to do one of my guilty pleasure faves and do a Zombieland crossover! Sorta. Kinda just taking them and putting them in that universe rather than a straight crossover. But whatever. Also because I’ve just been dying (pun intended) to draw an actual zombie apocalypse AU😭 The film itself has issues and I think it’s very Of The Time, but I think that’s why it fits? Both it and Metalocalypse are VERY MUCH mid-2000s media and I enjoy them in that sorta-dated but still super fun way.

For the unaware: the characters in the movie go by where they’re from rather than by first name to keep from becoming too attached to each other. But like with all found families in media, they get attached anyway LMAO

"No not there." You meandered about your apartment, occasionally shifting things around. It was as though you were looking for something you had lost. You made a point of commenting when you didn't find your lost object.

You were standing in front of the couch with the cushions lifted when Suguru came from the kitchen. He had a rag in his hands, drying them off after washing the dishes. Leaning against the door frame between kitchen and living room, he watched you for a moment. It was a nice view to see you in only his oversized shirt and…were those his boxers as well? Brat. Was there anything of his you wouldn't steal?

" Just what are you looking for?" He finally questioned, getting your attention. You turned your head  to look at him and grinned. You hummed softly, taking a moment to fix the couch cushions. 

Geto raised one brow, curious as you sauntered over to him. He noted how you seemed to put a little extra sway in your hips. What were you up to? 

Not yet answering his question, you grabbed his hand. It made yours seem so small and dainty comparatively.  "Ah! There it is!" You finally piped up. His confusion was palpable as you raised his hand up to your throat. Your neck fit perfectly in the curve of his thumb and forefinger. It was almost reflex how his hand closed gently around your neck, holding it. "My favorite necklace!" 

He stared at you with wide eyes for a moment before a devious look darkened them. The chuckle that came from him was deep and sent a shiver down your spine. Using the hand on your throat, he started pushing you back towards the couch. 

"Then model it for me. " He pushed you down onto the couch, and his body was over yours in an instant. The world narrowed to just the two of you, your senses overtaken by Suguru. Just how you wanted.

speaking of complaining, this one’s more petty bc it’s just one person doing a webcomic on their own so I think I’m being unfair but I’m gonna let myself be unfair. there’s a webcomic I follow that looks really polished but it’s been pretty clear that the artist has a lot more… marketing brain than writing brain and doesn’t know what they’re doing with the story, which is a bit of a frustrating contrast with how the art looks. like dude, you can take your time with this, I know you’re excited about your story and characters but I think you’ve completely skipped over substance and are only solid on the style. cmon can we have a conversation about 1) story arcs 2) character arcs 3) overarching themes that will be present throughout the whole story 4) what the ending’s supposed to look like. yeah writing’s hard and sometimes it takes a while to nail a story but you’ve had to hit the reset button several times in front of all of us, I think you gotta attend to the writing side of things. or let it look worse. like let it be a full first draft.
