Book 15 of 2025
The Tea Dragon Tapestry by Katie O'Neill
The beautiful conclusion to the Tea Dragon books! This is still a visually stunning graphic series. The characters are so distinct and engaging! I adore the little dragons, and was pleased to see all the characters 'on screen' together finally.
Though meant for kids, these charming books are great for any reader.

So I’ve been terrible at posting here about my reading. But I’ve been logging daily on Goodreads. I friggin love that app. Maybe I’ll whip up a recap of some kind of everything I’ve read since I kinda spaced on this blog.
First I’ve gotta finish my current read. My eyes aren’t feeling tired yet and I’m close enough to the end I can probably finish it before I pass out for the night

Fascinating! I keep meeting people in some sort of engineering major that have a passion for creating music. Is this just a coincidence?
who knows 😭 i personally dont know anyone like me. if society didnt treat musicians/art jobs like shit i would very likely be in the field, but im good at math (and science), i like problem solving, and engineering has a good job outlook so im here instead.

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping

nothing but respect for our troops (smut writers) but listen. i dont want to be the person to tell you this, but not every character is going to be a dom or a sub. some people. and i know this is hard to hear. but some people do have vanilla sex. and some of those people might even be The Character.

“kids spend too much time on their devices” well what else are they supposed to do? there’s no corner shops with pinball machines in them on every corner anymore. there’s no malls or stores in small towns for teens to hang out in without being suspected of shoplifting or kicked out for loitering. sidewalks are too broken for them to ride their bikes and there’s no bike lane in the street to make it safe for them. i just don’t understand where they expect these kids to go when they keep taking places away from them. and yes having no safe public places for them is what leads a lot of teens into addiction if they end up at a place where people aren’t truly looking out for them.

Book 13 of 2025
The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill
Two of my favorite things, dragons and tea rolled into one. I cheated a bit with this one as it counts as a graphic novella, but it's a stand alone story, not part of a compilation, so I am counting it for my yearly goal.
The artwork in this is charming, sweet and well thought out. Each character is a distinct individual, no two look the same. The setting is richly done, giving us a clear look at the locations, and the colors are vibrant.
The story is neat. A girl figuring out her place in her world. A training blacksmith in a world with no need of weapons, helping her friends and family day to day. She meets a tea dragon, and returns it home, leading to the Tea Dragon Society itself. The magic system is unique, and in the background, leading this fantasy to be more slice of life than an epic. I will read this again.

wait do people read first person stories and think they're the ones in the story???
Saw people talking about not liking first person, which is fair, but their reasoning was like "I would not do that" and I don't understand that mindset.
First person stories are still about a character. A character making their own decisions. First person isn't about you???? At least I thought it wasn't. What am I missing? I've always seen first person as just a more in-depth look into a character's mind and stricter POV. Not as a reader stand-in.

I was always the child that spent my evenings and weekends at my local library. The librarians knew me by name and I knew the system of the file cards!
