Hi! I recently discovered Helena’s character and as an italian I immediately wanted to know more about her, except I’m struggling. If it’s not a problem, can I ask which comics is she in (that you recommend)? What I’ve seen about her character- which isn’t much- fascinated me so I’d love to read some :)

It’s not a problem at all! I love Helena A LOT(i probably need mental help<\\\3) so im always happy to help people get started reading her

A good comic to start with is Rucka’s Batman/Huntress: Cry For Blood. It’s a very good Helena story on its own and establishes her current backstory. Also its only 6 issues so its not much of an undertaking.(this does reference an event from no mans land but it can be read on its own and is a good place to test the waters with)

These next ones will be mostly in chronological order

After that I’d check out Robin III: Cry of the Huntress which as the title suggests is a Tim and Helena Story.(also only 6 issues)

Robin Annual #6 and Detective comics #703 are also really good helena and tim stories

Another Mini is Nightwing/Huntress. I don’t hate it but i have mixed opinons on this story- its ehh but if you wanna check it out go ahead

This next one is a bit more of an undertaking but Batman: No Man’s Land. Its a BIG event and I understand it’s daunting but it’s not only a really good story in general but it’s a really good Helena story.

Birds of Prey has Helena as a prominent character at a certain point(forgot what issue) but uhh… i dont really recommend it. I like the team and the characters in it but the writing is super sexist and the art generally is too :///

Now breaking the chronology order is these two stories which ive put last because i think theyre both a bit more heavy- that being Huntress(1989) and Huntress: Year One. I do like both of them but they both deal with CSA Huntress(1989) more prominently and Year One just mentioning it. I do like both but i think its a notable warning, though 1989 is also very… 80’s so i understand why some people wouldnt like it. I personally love her solo series but year one is kinda in so bad its funny territory so i still rec it

When it comes to the reptile trade it is always preferable to have a registered legal one than an underground illegal one. As it stands having set groups of breeders of Australian reptile species is preferable to having poachers come and take wild specimens to send overseas. And though I don't always agree with their practices, especially when it comes to breeding morphs and mutations, i would rather there be a healthy captive population to buy from.

When it comes to exotics, reptiles, fish and insects can be a grey area. Many of them do absolutely fine in captivity and can make novel and fascinating pets, but not everyone is cut out to take care of them.

I've literally spent upwards of 1000 bucks on my snakes enclosure so he will be comfortable and secure enough in my house. I do not take him out around my cats, and his enclosure is locked to prevent it being opened accidentally.

I carefully handled him from a neonate onwards to habituate him to humans and to my hands. He's not my friend though. I love him dearly but to him I am a big warm familiar moving thing that is a bringer of food. He does not fear me, but he does not seek contact like most domestic pets do. He tolerates my presence and my hands on his body, but he doesn't seek it like a domestic animal will.

My fish recognise my hands when I gently tap the glass to tell them its food time, but outside of that i am simply an interesting thing on the other side of the glass, they don't pay much attention to me if im not actively interacting with the tank(though some species of fish are personable, the ones I have are not) i carefully track the parameters of their water, I clean the filter and trim the plants, I keep an eye on the temperature. If I make a mistake it could hurt them badly. If you want to keep fish you need to be ready to work hard to learn how to keep a tank, and it can be a very rough leaning curve if you have no idea what you're doing at first.

To keep exotics you have to be passionate and you have to care and you ALSO have to know when you can't do something, when you can't give a species the care and respect it deserves, when you can't provide it the environment it needs to flourish. I would love to keep a betta fish, but I have never been able to get one to thrive, so I've decided they're not for me. If I cannot give an animal the utmost standard of care, I won't subject them to a substandard life.

So many people who own exotic pets either treat them like domestic species or just give them substandard care. This is especially prevalent with mammals and birds. They often have far more complex needs and many are not fit to meet them. There are reasons zookeepers do years of training to interact the animals they work with, and they constantly have to learn, research and adapt to new information.

Many current trendy exotic pets do not belong in your house, or your backyard, or your self styled rescue. Many of them shouldn't even be near humans outside of accredited wildlife workers and zoos.

Whenever you see a fancy looking animal like a fox, or a sugar glider, or a possum or an owl and yes parrots too. Ask yourself where did that animal come from, where is it now, are its social needs being met? Is its environmental needs being met? Is its nutrional needs being met? Is it being respected an a unique and complicated creature or is it being treated like someone's human child. Hell half the people who keep cats, dogs, chickens and pigeons can't even look after THEM correctly and those are all animals we've domesticated for thousands of years, what makes you think the person on instagram knows the exact needs of the few generations poached out of the wild Australian mammal theyre keeping for funnies?

Most of the time it’s momentarily while she's already in the middle of sprinting, to give herself a boost with a bound or two, or if she trips or feels herself falling forward while running she'll shift onto all fours which is is how she originally developed that "reflex", to prevent herself from falling while running, but eventually she started using it a little more often 

She can also just walk normally on all fours too but she usually only uses it while running

I'm watching Beast Wars again for no reason and so you all have to hear me talk about it.

If I was personally given Rights I would first use them to erase Cheetors weird crush on Blackarachnia because it literally adds nothing to the plot or the characters. Instead I'd take full advantage of my personal headcanon and make Cheetor desperately want a big sister because I am always a slut for Found Family. Like, that scene with Una ?"Aw, she wants to be you!" Like c'mon viewing him reaching out to Blackarachnia because he desperately wants some semblance of a relationship is a lot more wholesome when it isn't romantically coded. Cheetor is Lonely, so horribly lonely, and so young seeming in comparison to the rest of the cast. He hasn't lost that love for the stars or spiraled into cynicism just yet, and I would much rather explore the ways he tries to reach out to his bitter, jaded teammates. And maybe he's left wanting, maybe he gets tired of being lonely, and maybe he fucks up trying to be like them because "he tried to prove himself." And maybe that scene where Optimus, Silverbolt, and Rattrap reach out to him has a little more weight because it isn’t just Cheetor trying to be an adult, but a Cheetor that tried to be them and post Feral Cheetor has real fucking consequences and isn't just a cool upgrade.

I want that episode where Rattrap finds out they spat on Dinobot’s memory by making him into a "dishonorable" clone and goes ballistic. I want him to find the memories Dinobot stowed away and be conflicted. Is it Dinobot without the spark? Could he live with only a shade? Would Dinobot even want that? I want him to try and fail and be utterly distraught over the whole damn thing. I want him to be angry every time he sees Dinobot 2. I want Rhinox to try and fail to comfort him. I want Cheetor to sit with him, neither speaking but both knowing they're in this fucked up mess together now. CONSEQUENCES. WHERE ARE THEY. GIVE THEM TO ME.

I also just really want Blackarachnia to have closer bonds with the team??? Idk, I'm vibin well enough with her and Silverbolt but tbh I'd really just like her to have an episode where she's hanging out with someone else and Isn’t A Complete Rude Person. I think that's something I actually really vibed with in Beast Machines (although my memory there is still pretty fuzzy, I'll probably have to rewatch that to say for sure) Blackarachnia could actually work with the team in a friendly and occasionally sweet way. She was capable of a blunt and angry sort of kindness. Should that happen right away? Nah of course not, she needs to get comfy with her shiny new Dumbfuck Teammates. But there’s no real Solid Connections there other than Silverbolt, which is purely romantic. (Once again I emphasize Cheetor and Found Family)

Rhinox just needs more in general. If I had to guess the reason he was made a villain in beast machines was because he is only Meh as a Developed character after Blackarachnia shows up and takes over tech wise, not to mention rattrap is also pretty damn techy when he wants to be.(it was also probably to increase tension since his whole deal is being diplomatic but that's a separate thing) Sort of an issue when you make them scientists but don't have them specialize in anything and, more importantly, have a weakness in anything. If your character is simply the backup scientist when the other one is out of commission u gotta problem. Rhinox is stagnant personality wise, I can’t honestly say anything about him changes in the whole series. He has functionally gained nothing from this perilous journey, no real trauma, no bonds he didn't already have with the team, not even an upgrade in form. Isn’t rattrap supposed to be his best friend???? SHOW ME MORE THEN. Seriously if this show had let me have Rights I’m not saying I wouldn’t have loved if we had actually Really Dug In to a character arc or something about Rattrap and the concept of Honor vs Loyalty but that’s exactly what I’m saying lets talk about that. Season One Rattrap they played with this a little (After the whole early on “I would not send someone to do something I would not do myself” and “double agent rattrap” WHICH NO ONE WOULD EVER BELIEVE IF THAT HAPPENED ANY LATER THAN IT DID SINCE RATTRAP IS SO ANTIPRED) and the whole Dinobot thing really wedged it in (”But at least you know where he stands”) AND THEN FROM MY SHODDY MEMORIES OF BEAST MACHINES ITS PLAYED WITH EVEN MORE WHEN HE FUCKING GOES TO MEGATRON BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS BEING A LITTLE BITCH TO HIM 

Where was I going with this? uhhhhhhhhhhhhh oh yeah LISTEN Rattrap and his morals are Very Fascinating and I really wished there was more about that. Like, he gives no shits about Doing What’s Right or Being A Good Person, but he rewards friendship and loyalty and not getting him killed by miles. And despite his Hatefest Dinobot he was actually really... shocked? Offended??? about Dinobot handing over the disc because you’re an asshole but you’re also our asshole what fuckery is this did all our arguments mean nothing to you. And then attempting to join Megatron in BM because he might be Evil and it might be Bad Moral Conduct but fuck morals his teammates were being shitty friends. Is that petty of him? Maybe, but if the maximals had been evil but still genuinely kind and caring towards Rattrap I don’t believe he would ever leave for a second, not for all the Morals or Its The Right Thing To Do in the world. And that’s why darkfics that still use Found Family are the best! The End.

All the characters would actually be the size of their animals because goddamit I want a tiny Rattrap that has to be carried around by the others while he screeches indignantly. Or at the very least make him just a little smaller. Just a bit. And maybe they all have a big Sleep Pile. I like physical affection and cuddling and things no I don't care if they're robots no I don’t take criticism. Dinobot would have feathers fight me.

Optimus has died, been tortured, and painfully grew to like 3 times his size why doesn’t he have ptsd someone give him a hug.

Silverbolt is fun, but suffers from the same problem as Blackarachnia where all you really remember about them Relationship wise is the one they have with each other. Who does Silverbolt like best among the maximals, who does he like the least? And if I'm erasing that weird Cheetor crush thing then their interactions probably have a lot less tension so... what else do they have.

Depth Charge is an unrepentant asshole and I love him. He is so hostile but it doesn’t stop him from begrudgingly helping out on occasion. He also gave Optimus some backstory??? Like not as much as my greedy Character Loving hands would have wanted but GIVE ME.

Other Stuff:

Nothing will ever be as funny as Optimus being like “Evacuate the base you’re all gonna die” and Rhinox grabbing his fucking plant

Upon rewatching the series I have concluded Cheetor is Babey. Which is weird because I didn’t think much of him from what I remember. Shift in perspective I suppose. They really made Rhinox farting the thing that saves the day, huh. What even was season one.

oooooh yes!!!!!!! you came to just the place! im just gonna list some of my faves, hang on cause this is gonna be a LONG one (im not sure what your cutoff for Old is so i just went with 1960)

silent:

wings: really well done visually, also features the first gay kiss in history (ofc the context is different, but it’s there!)

nosferatu: the legendary spongebob character’s origin story! the music is wonderful in this, it’s very Artsy, just one of the greatest horror movies ever (it’s a bit slow at times but most silent films are)

the cabinet of dr caligari: REALLY cool from an art perspective, the sets are incredible, i love german expressionism, another great one for when you’re in the mood to get Spooky

steamboat bill, jr: buster keaton is a legend for a reason, this is my personal favorite of his. theres also something very unique and charming about silent film slapstick that i just adore, and this is a wonderful showcase of it!

the gold rush: basically the same reasoning as above, but with charlie chaplin. also this movie has a lot of genuine emotion you dont often get from silent comedies!

sunrise: a song of two humans: a must-see for silent films, it has super intriguing visual effects that really give a dreamlike quality to it, as well as great acting for the limited medium

show people: a really sweet classic romance that also gives you a nice (if not totally accurate) taste of The Movie Biz @ the time

metropolis: one of the first sci fi movies ever. visually STUNNING like nothing ive ever seen, also a bit of a workers of the world unite moment

noir/drama/general Serious Stuff: 

the big sleep: SEXY! the plot is hard to follow but it’s worth it for the characters and also just all i can say is. hot - it’s about a murder or two!

the maltese falcon: actually makes sense and like. Says Stuff abt humanity. gripping plot and nuanced characters -about a bird statue and the knights templar also human nature but also who could forget a murder or two!

sunset boulevard: absolutely enthralling characters, script, plot, performances, all of it! - it’s about a murder!

rebel without a cause: HUGE gay subtext with this one, one of the original Teen Movies

kiss me deadly: interesting!!!!! i was intrigued from start to finish w this one and you probably will be too

strangers on a train: one o those Psychological Thrillers, interesting n well acted - it’s about The Concept of Murder

north by northwest: super fast paced spy action movie that also #makes you think

murder, my sweet: another classic phillip marlowe story with that fast talkin detective dialogue i love so much - it’s about a murder! (my sweet)

double indemnity: the height of Cynicism in noir, not even any detectives in this just bad deeds and Tension -it’s about a murder or two!

key largo: just a hotel full of intriguing characters all At Odds with each other and the concept of heroism

random harvest: kinda cheesy amnesia plot but comes across well with good acting and dialogue

the lady vanishes: about a lady. who vanishes. funny at times and has that Classic hitchcock tension before he really landed on his final style

casablanca: “here’s lookin at you kid” “i think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship” just. one of the most iconic movies of the whole Classic Era and for good reason!

to have and have not: basically casablanca BUT consider this- i love Them (them being humphrey bogart and lauren bacall)

comedy/romance/general Light Stuff:

the thin man series: one of my absolute all time favorites! it’s just a story about two rich people who only love each other and alcohol getting dragged into solving various mysteries. my favorite thing about this is how much you can tell they love each other, like they’ve been married for years and just banter back and forth in a way founded on mutual respect n adoration which is So refreshing to see in classic movies!

it happened one night: i ADORE this movie! it’s a classic road trip comedy with a ton of bizarre side characters and hijinks, and also basically Invented the rom com genre. they’re also genuinely in love in a very cute way! it’s just sweet and fun and one of my fav movies of all time

arsenic and old lace: a dark comedy about old lady serial killers, brothers who think theyre theodore roosevelt and frankenstein (respectively), and Love. it’s super bizarre but a real joy to watch!

it’s a wonderful life: makes me sob every single time and leaves ya with that fuzzy warm feeling inside (recommended for christmas/winter viewing)

duck soup: i mean it’s the most iconic marx brothers movie, what more can i say!

bringing up baby: just a real wacky romp where it’s the lady and the tiger, with a whole lot of silly comedy

my man godfrey: makes fun of rich people n has a big loud ensemble cast (also romance)

the shop around the corner: they fall in love through letters but hate each other in real life! :0! bonus points for jimmy stewart’s voice

abbott and costello meet frankenstein: the title says it all. completely joyfully stupid movies like these are a big reason why i love old movies!

roman holiday: audrey hepburn’s debut movie. really sweet, has an ending that makes me cry

death takes a holiday: super interesting experimental concept not seen often in this era - Death literally takes a holiday and has to deal w life n love n all that

sabrina: a very nice and well acted little romance/cinderalla story w sprinkle of comedy

the philadelphia story: another Classique rom com with a love triangle n some nice fast-paced witty dialogue

musicals:

singin in the rain: one of the first classic movies i ever remember loving. every second of it is just. ah chef kiss

guys and dolls: very fun!!! just emblematic of good ol showtunesy musicals as a whole 

top hat: fred astaire and ginger rogers!! need i say more?

on the town: really fun music n choreography, generally engaging to watch

cabin in the sky: an all black cast with a ton of great songs n talent! 

the great ziegfeld: a really lovely period piece about 20s live shows with stunning costumes/choreography

gentlemen prefer blondes: it’s classic baby!

meet me in st louis: very sweet very fun lots to love

an american in paris: kinda ran out of juice near the end here and realized Musicals is the Same. anyways watch it gene kelly is charming and can click his heels together 

horror/sci fi

dracula: sexy. iconic. what more do you need

frankenstein: really has a Heart unlike a lot of these, also Iconic

bride of frankenstein: made me cry! see above but like, More

just realized im listing all the universal monster movies, so just, watch Any of those for a good and cheesy classic horror time

the day the earth stood still: a real cold war era movie about aliens and morality

plan 9 from outer space: a HILARIOUS so-bad-it’s-good old sci fi movie, highly recommend 

them!: giant radiation ants babey! really good effects for the time n well done suspense

honorable mention: this is past the cut off date but watch santa claus conquers the martians oh my gosh it’s the epitome of old b list sci fi and it never fails to send me n pals into a regular Laugh Riot

He was a nerd wasn’t he?

So, um... holly motherfucking cow, I just remembered how much I love acurate, updated dinosaur stuff, and how it could fit the dream daddy fandom?

so, yeah.

I know I’m such a nerd and I’m so late to the fandom but I had fun writing this and here it is

He notices how fast you get to withling, and how you always make some animal.

He also notices how interested you are in anything supernatural, But always fiting the science factor in there. Like how it could be that jakelopes exist, and they could crosbreed with hares but not bunnyes becouse they are too diferent or how the yeti could be a distant relative of the orangutan...

Or how you are pasionated about movie making too, but prefer realistic stuff, but he says nothing, because he likes silence.

Then, one day, he comes over for movie and pizza, and he finds it: notebooks.

Notebooks all over the house.

There are three different notebooks on the stack of the tea table. One, opened, on the big table at the dinner room. Another one somewere on the kitchen, and many, intersected with books, on the shelves across the house.

With the excuse that it was open and in the same room, he takes the one in the big table, and flips over it.

Its filled with drawings, sketches, notes and doodles of people, planst and animals.

There’s him, and betsy, so thats… there. Theres a lot of Amanda… and many, many animals.

It calls his atention that many of the drawings fit conversations they had.

MC hadn’t hear speak of the dover ghost before he met Robert, but here they were: pages and pages of sketches and different designs of how the dover ghost may look like.

Some of them were more animal-like, others where very human, and other were made of shadow, the mark of the pencil, smugled with the author’s fingers to make it look like smoke. A chill climbed up Robert’s spine when he came across a particular drawing that did look just the way he remembered it, dragging something behind.

There were steps behind him.

“…Robert?”

Ups. MC was back in the room, and he had his nose deep within the sketchbook. Robert concentrated in another drawing, one that was very common, and odd.

Robert lifted his gaze.

“…dinosausr, with feathers?”

“Oh fuck, Robert! Uh…”

Robert held his gaze, smirking

“Yes. Yes, ok? Dinosaurs with feathers. I can explain it”

Robert closed the notebook, but held it as he crosed his legs, leaning in the table

“Im listening”

And he kept listening as MC went on and on, telling him how come dinosaurs actually had feathers, and the remains of them that could still be found in birds, and so many little fascinating facts, with such passion, similar to when Robert himself told intrinsek made up stories.

He smiled. This could be so much fun

He was delighted, with MC’s appreciation of his abode. He even said he felt sorry for the dead butterflyes, but still appreciated the beauty of his colection, and the work that went into it.

As soon as they were sitting at the couch, he had asked for the skulls placed across the room.

They walked over to them and talked about fosils. MC tried to guess the species and origin of the bones, and if he did not get the exact thing, he could deduce a lot from looking at them.He took a bit longer to mention the feathers issue. It was nice to have interests in common with Damien and he didn’t want to ruin it with the stupid argument of the feathers.

Of course the day came. They went to the movies, and Damien turned out to be very scared! MC held his hand and rambled on and on of how unrealistic they were, and why some choices were made, and later on the conversation developed into a very popular, clasic movie:

Jurassic park.

“Most raptor species were smaller but there was one or two species the size of the ones in the movie, in wich they were inspired… but they had feathers, all of them, including the T-rex”

“Wait, what?”

“Ups. Uh… see…”

And it was down hill from there.

When MC got to the BQ and saw Craig waving from across the yard, he recogniced an SOS call. His buddy needed him.

“Dude, I have no idea what is going on”

MC listened quietly for a moment and then leaned onto Craig and wispered to him

“Moustachasaurus is asking a simple question. Rastasaurodon misinterprets it and makes stuff way more complicated thatn it is. Both monsters engage in an eternal loop of bloodshed, a battle of giants. Is the dress blue or yellow? Are best cats or dogs? Pineapple or pineappleless?”

Craig gigles and covers his mouth, wile looking at the two men arguing in front of him.

Hugo tells Mat why he thinks you can not compare two pictures from different moments in history, but when Mat repeats the question, down they go again.

 “Moustachasaurus displays his extense knolege of taking pics throu the ages and Rastasaurodon tries to scape, but Moustachasaurus attacks from behind and they engage in tragic battle again. It must be mating season or something”

 Craig breaks into laughter, distracting the two men with glasses, and pretends he was having an innocent conversation with MC

“Do you remember how into dinosaurs we were?”

 Oh no

He’s got a funny, smug look. Its a trap! ABORT! ABORT!

 “eh… were?”

“Bro”

“Bro”

“Broooo what do you think the tyranosaurus rex did with those tiny arms?”

“Don’t do it bro. I found out. You won’t like it”

“I need to know bro”

“noo”

“Tell me, MC Tell me…”

 Craig held him by the shirt and roughly wispered in his ear

“What were those tiny claws for?”

“Mhhh huu aaaah FEATHERS”

 Craig stepped back, shock written all over his face

“No… its impossible. It can not be!”

“The t-rex had feathers. He probabbly had fluffy and colofull arms for display, when fighting for terrytory… and mating”

MC tried not to talk about it in front of Joseph. He just didn’t know how he would take it, being religious and all. Until…

Joseph has a yatch. OMG. He has a yacht.

Before they got off the shore, MC was already creeping him out.

 “I just love the sea. It holds so many misteries… do you have interest in all of the marine life? Why would you own a boat if not?”

“hehe, I just enjoy the fantasy of sailing aways into the sunset… just the sea and I”

“But its not just the sea and you. There’s the giant squid. You knew that? its real. They are out there”

“Shh, don’t be afraid. I will protect you”

“No, Im not afraid, Im fascinated! There’s so much we don’t know about the sea, I mean, it is the origin of all life…!”

 And then, an akward silence

…he was nervous, ok?

 “uh… I mean, after God put it there, of course”

“…right”

“…sorry. There’s not a door we can close and open again this time”

 Joseph laughts, maybe to make it a bit less akward

“Actually, speaking of marine life, we may see whales”

“Whales!”

“And dolphins”

“Oh my god, really? Do you see them ofthen?”

“Yeah. You are interested on them? you know they can be cruel right? They drown theyr babys for fun…”

“Oh no, they don’t. Dolphins are some of the most inteligent and social creatures out there. If they ever do that is as a punishent to a misbehabing child, or to teach them to survive when they have trouble. Of course they can go mad or try murder too but it is…”

 Joseph was staring at him in disbelief

 “…rare. …uh. …yeah”

“Wow”

“hmh. Did you know dinosaurs had feathers? Why do you think they died?”

“…what?”

Mat is such a dork. And he babbles. Its adorable! I guess I feel less self-concious near someone who’s also self-concious.

He starts talking about music. I don’t know much about music, but it is nice and sweet and Mat knows lots of stuff and it brings memories from a while back, so it is easy to listen and just roll with it.

Speaking of wich.

Retro music reminds me of retro stuff.

And that reminds me of Dinosaurs, and how awful and fake they looked back then.

 “What you talking about, man, dinosaurs are cool. …I think”

“Yeah, but, compare the ones in black and white movies with Jurassic park”

“Oh, yeah. Thats the stuff”

“Ok, now let me tell you: jurassic park is now outdated too. Dinosaurs did not look like that”

“what!?”

 Mat lays down and listens in awe to me babling abut the found proof that dinosaurs had feathers, and not only that, but also also spikes and colorfull crests and shiny scales, and the misterious noises they may had made. Even the spinoaurus from the third movie, turns out it didn’t walk on two feet. I start realising Im babling a bit too much, but he just looks at me with his sweet, big brown eyes and smiles

 “maaaan. I feel so old”

“well, look at the bright side. Not as old as those fossiles”

Going to the acuarium with Hugo was an exciting adventure. And I got to awe a bunch of kids with my extense trivia about penguins, while he got some kid out of the penguin enclosure. How did she get in there? oh well.

 Trivia nights were also fun. Hugo and I make a good team and there’s lots of cheese!

It was the dawn of a new era. It really started the time the quizz master got some wrestling trivia wrong, and Hugo went head over hills for it.

I went for all the natural history and nature ones.

Thats what I told him when he showed he his colection.

 “Don’t be ashamed of this, man. Remember how I get when Master quizz talks about dinosaurs?”

“Oh. …OH. Oh, boy”

“Oh yeah. I too, have a dark seecret”

“I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. …but, what could it be? You are just very educated about nature. It is interesting, many people enjoy the nature channel”

 I was giving him a mischevous look

 “It goes deeper than that”

Hugo looks at me in the eyes and then carasses his chin before daring to ask

“…how deep is that?”

I walk closer to him, wrestling belt over my shoulder

“Remember you asked”

 He doesn’t moves, but gulps when I wisper on his ear

 “Dinosaurs had feathers”

“… what?”

“And shiny scales, and colorfull crests, and they made all shorts of music”

“Whait, what, for real?”

“And not all of them went extinct. Not only crocodiles and turtles survived. It has been proved: the birds that we have today descend from dinosaurs like raptors and relatives of the t-rex. Thats why they call it the extintion of the non-aviar dinosaurs now”

“…for real? I… didn’t know that”

“and there was a period, the triasic, when nature was on drugs, and it produced all kinds of crazy stuff!!”

 “Say waaaat?” Said his kid, Ernest, standing in the door. How much did he listen?

“oh, is that a dinosaur book?” said MC, and Amanda turned in horror.

“Oh no”

“yes, it is” Said Daisy, with a wide smile “I wish we were studing theese in class, but they don’t talk much about fosiles, just rocks…”

 Brian laughted proudly. “Daisy is not happy with all they teach in class. She is always looking for books with extra stuff…”

Only then he noticed Amanda frantically denying with her head, and making ‘cut it’ gestures. He then looked back at MC. It was too late.

 He was sitting next to Daisy, pointing at pictures in the dinosaur book.

 “Ok, you know this one?”

“Yeah, that’s a brachiosaurus”

“The long-neck one” added Brian “That one’s easy”

“yeah, but it did not look like that. Book is a bit outdated. New data travels faster online. See, look at the skull. Now, where are the holes of the nose?”

 Daisy thoug for a moment.

 “… they are… above its eyes? On the top of the forehead?”

“Exactly. Now, don’t you think that’s a bit weird? Having such a wide, weird nose, and a big mouth way apart? Something’s missing”

“Yeah…?”

“Ok, now look at the skull of an elephant”

 MC took out his phone and showed her pictures

 “… it doesn’t have a nose! And the cavities are huge and… oh my god!”

“Exactly. The trumpet is big and important, but it has no bones. If someone found the fosil of an elephant, but never saw one, they would draw him without a trumpet”

“Like it happened to the brachiosaurus. It had a trumpet! Dad!”

 Brian nearly flinched. He was barely catching up

 “The brachiosaurus had a trumpet, dad! Can you believe it?”

 Brian looked at Amanda. She was scrolling throu her phone like nothing was going on.

 “actually, not necesary a trumpet, see…”

 Daisy turned her attention fully back to MC

 “They are both big hervibores, but the brachiosaurus had a very long neck. It didn’t need a long trumpet. …kind of like a giraff. Have you seen what they do?”

 Daisy denied. MC was already playing a video of a giraff using its lips, and loong, sticky toung to catch things and eat them.

 “it probably didn’t have a trumpet. Nor a long tounge, but there was definetly something important on its nose, wich it probably used for eating and for singing, kinda like cows do, and maybe it was colorful, or diferent between males and females…”

“wooow! It is a big feature, why they don’t use it in movies?”

“see, it is kind of risky, to design such an extrange animal, so they play it easy and just cover the skull with skin. And that’s not all”

“there is more!?”

“this animals had spikes all over their tails, wich have been found incrusted in the skull of predators like the T-rex”

“Wooah!”

 “Don’t feel left out” Amanda said to Brian, seeing that the poor guy needed some company “he can’t help it, loves the stuff. Just make sure you can handle it before letting him anywere near the museum”

My Thoughts on Book of Atlantic (this is gonna be super long and I'm on mobile so I apologize)

As we all know, I love Black Butler. A LOT. I love the manga, I love the anime, I love the characters, it's been a really positive influence on my life! It's made me happy and it's one of the things I don't think I could live without. Now before I begin my thoughts on it, I want to share something else. There's this thing called public decency. I have been waiting for this movie since I heard it was being made. When I heard it was playing at a theater near me I was ECSTATIC. Now like I said, I've been a fan since 2013 which, granted, isn't very long, but I'm a "veteran". I've lived through all these "wars" that the fans have here and I'm kind of over it. 2013 me was cringey as hell. She'd run through her middle school halls like Sebastian and do Grell's DEATH pose all the time. She called herself an "otaku". But that time has passed now (thank god). I still love all the characters and I'm glad a lot of people grew up from their "otaku" phase. And if not, you will! You enjoy ir friends! It was a fun time for me! I was having a blast! I was just cringey. So enjoy it friends! But just know you'll look back and feel a little gross lol. Continuing... Tonight was the night! I grabbed my sister, who loves Black Butler as well. Not as much as me, but she still loves it. She hasn't read the manga so she really wasn't too sure what it was about but she tagged along. I wore my Sebastian shirt, my pentagram necklace, and she wore her Claude's contract necklace. We both looked like nerds but hey, we're watching an anime movie, what do you expect? We get to the theater about 15 minutes before the movie starts. I bought the tickets and we look over and see someone cosplayed as Ciel in Wonderland. I knew there would be some people cosplaying, which is great! Cosplay is fun! I cosplayed as Sebastian once upon a time, so I was excited they were having fun as well! Then we buy our overpriced snacks and head in. There were people already in, which is expected. They all looked roughly 13-30. Fans of all ages! Awesome! Many were females and wore their Black Butler merchandise like me and my sister. Someone had a Ciel cosplay! Eyepatch and all! It was nice, but my sister and I had this feeling that we wouldn't be able to enjoy it like we should... We took our seats and adjusted, and the movie was about to start. Everyone clapped as the birds flew in and I was ready. But then it happened. The fans kept squealing and screaming and yelling and "oh bassy~!" Everytime he came on screen. Now I get it, Sebastian is 👌, but this is a public theater where people want to watch the movie and HEAR what they're saying. Squealing and screaming everytime something "hot" happens makes it less enjoyable for everyone around us. The older people, me and my sister included, kept turning around to shush them because we couldn't hear certain lines that were crucial to the plot. I had to sum up what happened while everyone was screaming about Grell coming on scene, Sebastian's demon form, and yada yada. Basically this went on for the entire movie where the "fangirling" was getting straight up annoying. Now I get the reactions, I would've done the same (kind of maybe low key but idk), but this is a PUBLIC AREA FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE NOT READ THE MANGA AND KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. Friends; it's annoying. Yes, Grell is amazing, yes, Undertaker is amazing, yes Lizzie is amazing, THEYRE ALL AMAZING but please, some people want to HEAR the movie. The screaming and squealing made it hard for me to thoroughly enjoy the movie because I missed certain lines that I REALLY wanted to hear spoken in English by their voice actors. My sister didn't hear a lot of it and she felt like she missed a lot from the screaming and whatever. So to summarize: guys, you're in a public area. No one has seen the movie and we want to enjoy it. Please, keep the squeals and screams to a minimum so others can hear. We weren't the only ones to get upset at them, a lot of people near us did the same "please we want to listen". So just be courteous. Laugh when it's funny! There's funny parts! Laugh away! Gasp when things happen because things happen! And it's intense! But don't scream, okay? Some of us wish we had a better experience because some people were being a tad obnoxious. I get it, I truly do. I love Black Butler a lot! But you're in public. Please be respectful of the people around you. After the final credits with William and them, the movie ended and I turned to see an older couple, who tried to silence those who screamed when William showed up. They looked about 40 and I assume were married. "I wish they didn't scream," I said, looking to the wife, "I love this anime and they kind of ruined it for me." "This is my favorite anime too!" She exclaimed. "I missed some parts that were my favorite and I didn't hear Grell's words while they reenacted the Titanic scene." "This was my favorite arc and I wished I could've watched it again." I responded, starting to walk towards the exit. So please guys. Just be respectful. Now if y'all have hung around this far, I wanna share my thoughts on the movie. I LOVED it. When I have more funds, I wanna buy it and enjoy it without the screams so my sister and I can thoroughly enjoy it. The animation with the birds and some of the bizarre dolls scenes were... odd... but hey, it was good. It just looked a bit out of place. Some of the facial features in far away scenes looked odd too, but ya know, it happens. It made me giggle. It stayed true to the manga! I wasn't too sure why double Charles were there, but it actually kind of made sense. Gray's and Sebastian's interaction made me laugh (but I couldn't hear the entire thing because of the screamers). I really enjoyed the both of them. And Paula was there! She didn't really say much, but I do enjoy Paula so I wasn't upset that she was there even if she wasn't in the manga. Ronald was great. I do wish he flirted with Mey Rin and interacted with the other servants, but I wasn't too bothered by it. Ronald is my sisters favorite so she was ecstatic as well. Grell! I absolutely adore Grell. He's one of my favorites as well. I do wish I heard what he said when he first arrived from the iceberg but I guess I'll know soon? Maybe? It did irritate my sister so I told her basically the gist of what he said. Same with the reenactment with Ronald. All around, I'm glad they stuck true with his character and his fun flamboyant-ness with his badass awesomeness as well. Sebastian's demon voice was great. I enjoyed that a lot. I thought it was fascinating and how a demon voice should sound like I guess. The animation with him turning into Sebastian was marvelous. I love the obscure drawing thing they had going and I thought it was amazing. His demon eyes and fighting scenes were animated beautifully and I just love that demon asshole a lot. ELIZABETH MY DARLING DAUGHTER. The way they animated her dancing and fighting was truly beautiful. It was one of my favorite scenes. I'm so glad they didn't shorten her backstory and explained the whole thing. I love Elizabeth and I will protect her to my grave. Speaking of backstories, I'm so glad they didn't shorten Ciel and Sebastian's either. That's one of my favorite exchanges and I'm glad they showed it in it's entirety. The way Sebastian thinks Ciel of a brat, how Ciel needs Sebastian to act human, but then how they have this dynamic that truly works. Sebastian initially sees Ciel as food, probably still does, but you can see that he's patient and finds Ciel fascinating. The knighting scene made me super happy and it's one of my favorite exchanges in the manga. Undertaker. My problematic little shit. He was great in this idk what else to say really. I do wish they made his death scythe out of ebony (bone maybe? Idk I know it's white) instead of the stone, but it didn't bother me too bad. It looked badass and that's all I cared about. The animation when Undertaker was explaining his motives, thoughts, and the ending credits with the bizarre dolls were my FAVORITE. The puppet likeness of it was amazing, the colors, the stylization, it was absolutely amazing. I wish I could describe it entirely. It was just so good it was definitely my aesthetic. I just love this movie and series. I would sell my soul (lol) for this series. It's a great movie! It had everything from the manga: the seriousness, the backstories, the funniness, the badass fight scenes, the 'philosophy' of what happens after humans die, it was just grand. I'd definitely watch this again, thousands of times, and finally hear certain lines that I missed. It was great and I'm glad it turned into something super enjoyable and amazing.
