Personal recap Skate Canada 2022 - Men FS

I didn't write a personal recap for the SP because tbh I just watched a few skaters and looking at the protocol of the SP I didn't want to watch much more 😅 what a horrible men SP...ofc Shoma was still great and Kao Miura well done and deserved 1st place after the SP!

Now let's go to the Men FS in starting order:

Stephen Gogolev - he is the typical hyped junior skater who just has a rough time in seniors, too much hype, too much pressure, too much difficulty at a very young age imo. I think with better pacing he could have had a smoother start in seniors. Anyway a very good skate from Gogolev! Just like in juniors I think he lacks artistry, he still skates quite juniorish.

Aleksandr Selevko - quite the opposite from Gogolev. Jumps that worked smoothly landed and with wonderful body language and skating flow. But he lacks the difficulty to really make up for the bad SP. It wasn't error free either. I do like his skating style a lot! ❤️

Jimmy Ma - I wish we would have seen more of what he showed the last 30 seconds in his choreo sequence. I usually think Jimmy's programs are unique and interesting but this one is quite bland except for the ending seconds. Not that bad of a skate but without interesting programs you can see that he lacks flow and that his basic skating is not that strong.

Lukas Britschgi - I like the concept and music cut of the program. Good choreographic elements throughout. Not perfectly skated but well enough keeping that SP score in mind.

Deniss Vasiljews - I love his skating. ❤️ A classical piece like Dvorak suits him very well. Wonderful spins, wonderful choreography just none of that helps if the jumps don't work at all. The already low TES plummeted rightfully tbh...sad to say but the last place would have been fair too. 😥 So sad to see him be so down 😭😭😭

Conrad Orzel - weird landings all over the place, not sure what to think of this program...he is rather slow and not very expressive, he only came a bit more alive in the step sequence...

Camden Pulkinen - I always rooted for him since juniors. Such beautiful skating. It was a typical Camden like program, some stuff worked, some not at all. I still think he can be quite happy with his performance despite the mistake. Good fight! ❤️

Keegan Messing - if you see Keegan you just get a smile on your face, always such positive mood around him. 🥰 This program is such an amazing fit! How did he save that first 3A? 😲 Not perfect but boy this was a great skate! ❤️

Matteo Rizzo - Great skate! Program fits him well! I have never seen his 4Lo be so good. It was a close call between Keegan and Matteo, both very similar level of skates of the day, both good PCS skaters too. I dunno who I would have placed where tbh

Kao Miura - what was up with him having to adjust his boots in the warmup? So glad he managed well afterwards. I said before I cannot really judge Beauty and the Biest programs as I love the musical very much, but I do think with each performance Kao gets more into character. He took out the 4Lo. That 4S fall looked really hard. I really admire how much time he has to spot his landing in the jumps. Great talent! Totally lived up to the expectations from Skate America! Bravo👏👏👏👏And again an 8 point gap to the winner! 😅 Congrats on 2nd place! 🎉🥈 Welcome to the GPF! 🎉🎉🎉

Waterparks show recap

The time has come! i know you were all waiting at the edge of your seats, so here it is! 

TLDR: this was one of the best shows I’ve EVER been to, top 2 for sure (maybe gvf first bc I was at Jake barricade but this is def its competitor). The setlist flowed well and showed where they’ve been as a band, who they are now, and where they plan to go. I am also a  sucker for crowd interaction and talk breaks and as you know at a parx show with Awsten, I definitely got them. I love waterparks *blowing kisses to them* ❤️!!!!

M&G!!!

I was nervous out of my MIND I cannot lie to you. A few of the people I went with had done a M&G before and I was going in with no previous experience and a fear of being perceived by one of my fave bands. No stakes at all, definitely!

Shout out to Jimmy, he was very cool

I initially told my friend not to film me (what the back of me looks like is not info I want to know) but she did and I’m actually really happy bc it was very cute

Awsten was on vocal rest so he was basically doing charades to everyone to make sure you could see what he wanted to say, which was very sweet

I gave them these puzzle book things + some gem pens (bc awsten mentioned solitaire + wordscapes. Yes I know this is a nerdy gift) and I think they enjoyed them!!

Geoff and Otto said that they could use them to use their brains on tour LOL

Awsten and Jawn were flipping through them and I think they liked them too

I did a group hug for the picture! ( I could not risk a waterparks-generated pose that is the most out-there scenario that no one except for them could think of)

Cannot give accurate info bc they did not explain it clearly LMAO, but the story was mentioned bc Otto listed him as an inspiration.  There was some FaceTiming happening at one point or another and Awsten (and Geoff? Like I said they did not clearly lay this story out) were getting PB&J when he was in the studio so Otto had to FaceTime them?

I honestly think that’s it from the Q&A? It was pretty short and a little chaotic

BUT I was trying to airdrop my friend something and awsten’s phone came up? Probably a joke from someone bc I think (or at least I can hope) that he has his phone named something else. I did refrain from sending something but maybe he’ll realize to change his phone name if that was him 😭

I told my friend that I wanted to get a spot where I could actually see Otto for once. It’s so difficult to see him as a short person unless you’re in the front or pretty close. I got my wish bc I was in a spot on the side where I could only see Otto clearly. Which was amazing because, as you all know, I love that guy. So I was very happy about it and I got some sick ass videos of Otto killing it on the drums (and in goggles at one point?). But very funny how I worded that and got what I asked for LOL

The M&G and the pre-show playlist is confirmed (?) to be Charlie Puth Spotify radio, which is funny but also fun and fitting. Personally, I approve.

Someone playing 2048 on another person’s Apple Watch (while it was still on their wrist), very funny

He does this at every show, but the way Awsten says “what” after anyone yells his name like it’s a conversation across the room. I can just predict how he says it

Ok, I always take Awsten hyping things up with a grain of salt (topic for another time) but I have to give it to him, he was SO right about the stage design being sick as hell.

The screens were COOL and they matched the art from the album the song was from. The entertainment one was really cute with the clovers and all the purple. Plus the ghosts for crave. The smoke cannons were really cool too!! Especially during numb (side note: only one greatest hits song? Peculiar since there was SO much emphasis on it but alas another topic for another time)

Seeing everyone talk about crave….what about royal, people!!!

I got into watching wrestling when I was in school it was Shawn Michaels that first got me (just thought he was so talented and cool and stupid funny). The more I watched I started liking DX and most of the old school wrestlers (it was different back the 😆) Then I had a massive break for years and only got back into it last year. I was pretty sick so wasn't able to do much and wrestling was on and that's when I saw Sami and then Kevin. They got me back into it. Just loved them individually but their friendship and chemistry was just a pleasure to witness. I had no idea about the whole bloodline "history" till a video popped up on Facebook. That's when I went back and watched the whole thing and I was just blown away!! Honestly the bloodline was going stale till Sami breathed life back into it.

Right now Sami and Kevin are top tier ✨

Other current favourites to watch would be Jimmy, R-Truth, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, DIY, Bayley, Naomi, Raquel, The Usos (tag team), Wolf dogs

Other ones I am partial to watching are AJ Styles, New Day, Jey, Tozawa, Bobby Lashley, Dom Mysterio, McIntyre, Waller & Theory (are starting to grow on me), Ripley, Zelina, Stark, Orton, Roman (I'm on the fence about him), Michin, Ivy Nile

oh i LOVE that!! i can't remember how i got into it honestly, it was more my mum & dad watched it all the time, & me and my brother just fell in love with it😂 (my mum was/is a big shawn michaels girlie, so i always had a little place in my heart for him!) john cena & jeff hardy were my faves growing up tho!! (& 14 year old me fell in love with cody rhodes when he debuted & that's never changed🤭) i also fell off it tbh, i began to spend more time out of the house & with friends, but id always watch the ples! one time, i was in my bedroom with my now fiancé (boyfriend at the time) & i went to talk to my brother who was downstairs watching a royal rumble, & my partner came downstairs like 2 hours later like "i knew you'd got sucked into this"😂😂 i got back into it properly in 2022, i'd been following thru clips etc (bc id seen cody had come back, but was out injured) & then i saw jey uso and was like OH MY GOD IM IN LOVE and i started watching the weekly shows again😭

My first Smart Doll!

Meet Challenge 💜

I discovered Smart Doll during the end of Summer 2020 when we had the first lockdown here in Italy.

For those who don’t know, Smart Dolls are a brand of dolls created in Japan by Danny Choo, the son of the famous shoes designer Jimmy Choo. These dolls are handmade by small teams and everything is designed and assembled in Tokyo.

The “smart” feature of these dolls is that every part is detachable and can be replaced with something else, also these dolls can be assembled from scratch if you buy the single parts. Really amazing! They come in different skin colors (Challenge is in the color Cinnamon) realistic and not, the blue skin ones are quite popular.

Also Danny is trying to create an inclusive and friendly environment for these dolls creating also dolls with Vitiligo, burnt scars skin and aid accessories like asthma inhaler, hearing aids, crutches… and I’ve heard that the company gifts them to people that uses them in real life too when purchasing a doll!

There are a lot of different face molds every one of them with special features, all these dolls are really beautiful and their name reflect a different message that the creators are trying to convey. I immediately fell in love with Challenge, her face was stunning and also the concept behind her creation really resonated with me (here a few sentences from the Smart Doll website)

“…. Each time we avoid change, each time we step away from a challenge, we end up strengthening the default hardwired neural pathways - this is how we end up with a stubborn personality and stuck in a rut - you are not going to get to where you want without taking risks.

Unfortunately she was very expensive and at the time I wasn’t working very much so I couldn’t buy her right away 😩 but later every time I came back to the website she was always sold out so I thought it wasn’t destiny. 😭

But during a totally random day last month I checked one (the only?) of the European dealers for Smart Doll - Anime Sugoi - and there she was! In all her lilac glory 😂 So I decided that I wouldn’t let her go a second time!

And after a week, maybe less, of wait she is finally here in my arms 😍😍 I love her so much it’s really beautiful as I thought she will be, even more ❤️ I cannot wait to have some time do make her a lot of stylish clothes (as I don’t like very much the fit of the ones I made for my other BJDs)

Here she is with two of my other 1/3 Bjds (Morgana on the left and Meera on the right) as you can see it’s really noticeable the difference between the pink tone of Challenge’s vinyl skin and the yellow-ish resin of the other dolls (they have more than 15 years so be kind with them 😂) And you can see also that the shoulders of the shirt are totally out of place and that’s the major thing that throws me off 😡

I will post more and more about her in the next days and I really plan to come back to this blog and give it a new life as it’s been so long since a decent post! 😅
