Without You - Sadie Sink

Takes place after the filming of Stranger Things Season 3

Exhausted.

Sadie is exhausted from all her sleepless nights. The sleep she longs for, no longer around, not since you left. She misses your presence, your hugs, your delicate words, your gentle touches. She just wants to be in your arms relishing in your radiant warmth, feeling your loving kisses to the back of her head.

She just wishes you had told her how you were feeling before that fateful day happened.

Splashes of water coat her face, trying to wake herself up, and cleanse her mind of you so she is prepared for her first interview since you left. Sadie shuts the water off, her hands now firmly on the sink. Her gaze locks with her reflection. Her once smooth skin, disturbed with protruding deep purple bags under her broken teal eyes. Her lips automatically dropping into a deep miserable frown, she finds no need for her mouth to break away from that position for it was practically engraved into her skin.

But soon she will have to tear it out and upturn the frown in a mask of joy and perfection. She doesn't want to do that, she just wants to go home and cry into one of your hoodies and not come out for days on end or until filming starts up again.

She should be strong, but without you there it feels like her whole world is slowly falling apart, and just a gentle push can send it tumbling down. You were her rock, her saviour, her superhero that fends off all the bad guys for her.

But now that you're gone, she has to do that all alone.

An interview without you at her side feels so daunting, she won't be able to clutch onto your hands when she feels a slight bit of nerves. She won't be able to rely on you to get through the merciless questions that will only be worse, now that you're gone.

"Sades?" A soft voice calls from behind the bathroom door. Sadie quickly stands up straight and regains her composure just as the door opens to reveal Millie. "Oh Sades," The Fifteen-year-old says sympathetically opening her arms for the redhead.

Sadie instantly buries herself into the younger girl. "I miss her." She mutters into Millie's shoulder.

"I miss her too."

Millie tightens the hug and she stands there holding Sadie with all her might, afraid that if she were to let go the older girl will break down and shatter right in front of her. But she could feel Sadie begin to sob and heave in her arms. "It's okay," Millie hushes the girl, her one hand rubbing Sadie's back delicately.

After a few more minutes Sadie tears away brushing away her running tears, "I got given the camera she would do her diary entries on. Could we maybe watch it later, at my house with the boys?"

Millie nods, "We would love to do that. Now come Sades, we have to go, it's going to start soon."

The interview was the longest two hours of Sadie's life, she wanted to hide away from all the questions and sympathetic looks she had been given throughout. Noah had noticed her discomfort and had his hand placed on hers comforting the hurting redhead all throughout. The rest of the cast had helped with the questions she had found quite hard to answer, the one's involving you, and how she was feeling since your passing.

But now she sits in her living room cuddled into Millie, with your stuffed dog, watching as the boys try to hook up your old camera, all arguing as they figure out what cable goes where. This earns a small smile from Sadie.

Soon the boys get the camera working and instantly your bright cheery face pops up on the TV. Sadie sits up a little straighter at the sight of you, her heart both racing and aching at the same time. Millie pulls the girl closer to her, in a way of further comforting her but also to make room for Caleb who wanted to sit next to the pair while the others sat on the ground in front of the couch.

"Hello!" Your voice exclaims through the speakers. "Welcome to Diary Entry One! I am as you can see on the set of Stranger Things Season Two!" The camera flicks around showing the bustling set before flicking back around.

The cast knew exactly when this first took place, the first day of filming just after they had all met Sadie.

"We got a new girl here as well, her name is Sadie Sink." You gush into the camera, a pink hue evident on your cheeks. "She's really nice... and pretty." You murmur the last part looking off to the side. "Anyways! Let's go see her!" You quickly rush off to where you had been looking at, camera in tow and stop at a then fifteen-year-old Sadie, "Hello bloody tampon, say hi to the camera!"

Everyone laughs, including Sadie who remembers that exact moment.

"What did you just call me?" Sadie questions in disbelief and You laugh, "You heard me." Before Sadie could say anything else, you quickly leave and shut the camera off.

"Hello!" You shout with Finn alongside you, "This is, drum roll please Wolf boy," Finn drums his hands on his lap, "Diary Entry Two!" You and Finn cheer loudly capturing the attention of some of the crew members behind you. They immediately hush you both as they film a scene involving Sadie and Caleb. You and Finn quietly apologise before making your way over to Dacre who speaks with Natalia and Joe.

"Dacre!" Finn calls out causing the man to stop and turn to them, a bright smile on his face.

"Hello Lacey, Mike. What can I do for you?"

"Can you answer some-" Finn begins but you cut him off abruptly

"Is Sadie single?"

Finn turns to you and the camera wide-eyed. Dacre raises a brow, throwing a quick glance over to Natalia and Joe. "I don't know? Why, are you interested?"

Your voice sounds panicked from behind the camera, "No! I mean, Finn is."

"Y/n!" Finn shouts, "I don't!" He quickly grabs the camera from your grip and turns it to face a laughing you before cutting the feed.

"Oh, so that's how that rumour sprouted. You look so scared," Sadie giggles and Finn sends her a mocking glare.

"I didn't know she was going to say that okay?" He chuckles.

The next video rolls on and it shows both Sadie and you.

You set the camera down in front of Sadie who was busy getting her hair done. She eyes the camera cautiously as the stylist ducks out the way slightly. "This is Diary Entry number three... I think," You sit down on a chair next to her, your stylist moving in to prep your hair. "We are almost finished filming!" You smile and look over to Sadie who does a quick glance at you. "Anyways, it's time."

"Time for what?" Sadie quiers

"Time for the questions silly," You laugh tilting your head back as your stylist combs your hair. "First question, how has your time on set been?"

"It's been great! Everyone is amazing!"

"Everyone? You sure you don't mean just me?"

Sadie giggles, "Sure."

A few more questions were asked, them mainly being about how she has felt about her time acting and being forced in a room with you and the others. She had opened up slightly about how she felt kind of isolated in the beginning due to everyone already knowing each other until You and Millie kindly took her under your wing.

"Okay last question, do you have eyes for anyone?" You smirk and Sadie goes silent.

"No comment," You gasp.

"What! Sadelyn Sinkhole does have eyes on someone," You lean forward much to your stylests dismay as she pulls you back. "Who is it?"

Once again Sadie replies, "No comment." and you huff.

"I will get it out of you. It may not be today, but it will happen someday."

Sadie's cheeks turn pink and she can't help but hide her smile in your stuffed teddy, reminiscing about how she had ended up spilling her feelings to you not even a day later. To her surprise back then you had reciprocated her feelings and even managed to steal her first kiss, she doing the same to you.

The next video rolls on with you beaming once again in the camera.

"Hello!" You exclaim once again, in the background was the cast in their season two attire watching you with smiles. "This is Diary Entry number four, we have now finished the infamous season two!" The group breaks out into cheers and a round of applause, and you place the camera down on a stand so that everyone was in the frame and move back to go sit next to Sadie, pushing Finn out of the way in the process.

"I can't believe you couldn't tell she liked you!" Finn exclaims gesturing to the action you had pulled. "Your girlfriend literally pushed me out of my seat," He laughs making Sadie snigger.

"So Caleb Mclaughlin." You start, capturing the young boy's attention, "How was it like to kiss the gorgeous Max Mayfield, the infamous MadMax," You tease and the boy bows his head in embarrassment, Everyone laughs and so do you but it was cut short as you began to cough. "You okay Y/n?" Sadie questions and you nod while Sadie not so sneakily brings her hand into yours.

"Wait!" Millie jumps in disbelief her eyes trained at the holding hands, "Were you two a couple then?" She flickers her gaze over to Sadie who turns as red as her hair, "Oh my God! We thought you two got together just before Season Three." Millie smiles slapping Sadie's leg jokingly, "You dirty dogs!"

The entry's continue, this time mostly showing you and Sadie alone. Most of the time, your hands were wrapped around her waist while she holds the camera up at you two in various locations.

"First date!" Sadie exclaims looking lovingly over at you.

"Can you see me?" You question trying to look over into the camera to see if you were in the frame- you in fact were not.

* "Sades!" You call out for her from her living room. "I got you something!" The camera flicks down to a necklace with a small pendant in your hand.

While that video shows, Sadie herself glances down at the necklace you had given her and fiddles with it, her heart fluttering in her chest.

"Do you think they'll freak out when we tell them?" Sadie questions fiddling with your hand as the camera shows you both walking back onto the set for a reading. You nod, "Oh, most definitely." The camera cuts and then turns back onto an unknowing Millie waiting for you both at the entrance to the reading.

"Y/n! Sadie!- Woah." Millie's eyes go wide as she spots your hands, "Are you two?" She gestures between the both of you. Sadie confirms with a kiss of your cheek causing her to squeal and run in to tell everyone.

* "Hello! And we're back! Season Three of Stranger Things, it's your favourite character Aunt Helga speaking." You laugh at your own words, "I'm joking, it's the best character out of the show, Dustins' sister Lacey. Today we are as usual on our first day back at filming." You cheer, "This is Diary Entry number five."

"Y/n! Where are you?" Dacre calls out in the background, "You have to go get pepper-sprayed in the face!" You widen your eyes slightly, and Dacre appears behind you, "It's just water don't worry."

The camera cuts but then is turned back on to show a smiling Dacre, he flips the camera around and it shows you being dunked in the Henderson's kitchen sink by Caleb and Sadie. "I'm drowning!" You yell out gasping for breaths. "I'd rather you drown than go blind, Lacey," Sadie comments in Max's character. Caleb goes to turn off the tap but instead accidentally turns it on full speed, the water hitting you right in the mouth making you choke and develop a coughing fit. "I didn't mean to literally drown her!" Sadie yells and Caleb throws his hand up defensively, "My hands slipped."

That scene was a blooper itself but yet it was still kept in the actual show.

Many more diary entries ended up being full of bloopers, you hanging with Sadie and sometimes the rest of the crew until it started to change.

There you stand in front of the camera, your hands clutching your chest tightly, "My chest hurts." You croak out, tears swelling in your eyes from the pain.

The cast visibly sit a little straighter at the sight of you.

You stand there for a few more seconds just holding onto your chest before finally you drop your hands down and stand straighter. You furrow your brows, "It's gone. I don't know what it is but it's been happening a lot lately." You announce but quickly shrug it off as you hear your name being called. You grab onto the camera and run out where Sadie is standing waiting for you with a bright white smile. You grab onto your girlfriend's hand and you walk off to your next scene.

Another video rolls on this time showing you setting the camera down in a position so that it showed the set you were on. You are then seen dashing back onto set and getting onto your starting position with Gaten at your side. The video goes on as normal with the familiar star court scene and then all the way to the end, with Dacre having moved it for you to get the right angles where you stand near a casted officer, signalling the end of the filming process.

"Cut," The director yells and cheers are heard all around. You jump up and hug the nearest person to you, this being Sadie and enrapturing her into a joyful kiss before moving on to everyone else.

The mood is noticeably ecstatic and everyone is busy cleaning up, with you having a quick word with Sadie before going to head for your still recording camera, shouting a 'Shut up' to Caleb who had mocked what you said to your girlfriend. Your smile is bright and inviting until it drops to a stone cold expression.

And then you were seen clutching onto your chest, feet staggering and skin paling before dropping to the floor.

"Y/n!" Gaten screams hurtling over to you, just in time to catch you. You weren't moving and the camera shows it, it shows everything happening at that exact moment. It shows Gatens terrified face as he shakes you, trying to wake you up. It shows crew members flying over to you in a hurry. It shows your girlfriend and the others staring at you horrified and worried.

"Someone call an ambulance!" The director yells shoving past all crew members who were just crowded around you. Immediately chest compressions were started.

"Oh God," Caleb murmurs his teary eyes entranced on the TV. He wants to look away but he can't.

Sadie sniffles, her heart aching tremendously at the screen.

Millie and Finn hold a sobbing Sadie in the far corner of the screen, while Noah is seen dashing for the camera and turning it off.

They thought it was the end but another clip rolls and a bloodshot eyed Sadie Sink appears in one of your hoodies, holding your stuffed dog close to her chest. She was in your dressing room, it was known by the pictures you had placed on the walls of your family and the cast behind Sadie.

"Hi Y/n," Sadie croaks out, voice breaking instantly. She can't speak, her throat hurts and her tears just flow out coating your stuffed animal with her tears. "I miss you. It's only been a few hours since you left us, but I miss you so much." She brings your hoodie to wipe away a few of her tears, "I just want to say I love you."

Sadie can't look at the video anymore, her heart aching in great amounts in her chest, her bottom lip quivering noticeably. She turns and shoves her head directly into a saddened Millie who immediately takes her into her arms. Sadie wishes it was you instead.

She can still hear her own shattering voice in the video, each word breaking and every sentence ending with a cry. A cry of mourning. A cry for you. A cry for you to just come back and tell her you're not going anywhere. A cry for her broken heart.

Sobs wrack Sadie's body and a loud cry exits her making the crying cast members cast looks of sorrow, heartbreak and pain at her.

The video proceeds and Sadie is now still sat in your chair, this time not saying anything. Your stuff dog is latched to her chest, her chin sitting on top of the toy while she runs little patterns on her knee- something you would do to her when you felt nervous in interviews or big events. And then the door quietly opens and Sadie is seen turning back abruptly, her head shaking furiously.

"No, no, no, no," She sobs as your dad steps foot into the trailer there to retrieve your stuff. "Please can I keep the camera, please!" Your dad shakes his head sadly, tears in his own eyes as he reaches down to grab hold of the device.

"Please!" Sadie begs, "I can't live without her. I can't live without seeing her!"

The camera cuts off.

I’d like to point out that the “it’s all just a bunch of coincidence” argument is very poor. People say that about anything they don’t like. If we’re using this argument then I could say that everytime Mileven accidentally held hands or touched or any of that lovey dovey stuff that the Mileven fandom goes nuts over is a coincidence, but I have 0 evidence that it’s a coincidence, I’m just saying it is because that’s how I, a biased person on the side of byler, sees it. And I love the Milevens that actually respect us, it’s just the toxic ones that stomp on us or rain on our parade that irritate me.

So I ask skeptical Milevens, why do you think it’s all a coincidence? Because the Duffers have gone on record multiple times saying that nothing in their show is a coincidence, so it’s odd of you to assume that it is, when that goes against everything the duffers have said.

I see a lot of people claim that all of Bylers very romantic coded scenes are just coincidences with out any real evidence solely because they want them to be coincidences.

Reminder that the duffers had to write, revise, have Noah and Finn read at the table read, rehearse, and then film all of Bylers romantic coded scenes. And do you seriously believe that nobody stepped up and said, “Hey, I think some people will start to ship this if you make your two male characters hold hands and look at each others lips.” Like on paper, that sounds romantic. And on screen, it looks romantic too! If the duffers didn’t want byler to be shown as romantic they wouldn’t have put all of that effort into Mike and Will’s romanticly coded scenes in season two. And sure, one could say they were oblivious and didn’t realize that this relationship could be seen as anything more than romantic and that one of their 100 other writers and revisors and producers didn’t step up and say “Is this really what we want to be conveying in this show when they’re just supposed to be friends?” (Which I doubt. The duffers and everyone else on the writing crew knew exactly what they were implying. And if the duffers themselves didn’t, I HIGHLY doubt that someone didn’t step up and point out how romantic some of these scenes are, especially considering multiple of their writers are apart of the lgbtq community which makes it highly more likely that someone would have realized as I’m sure their gay senses are much stronger than those of the cishet writers on the squad. ) However, byler kind of blew up after season two, so if ST didn’t mean for Mike and Will’s relationship to be seen as more than platonic, then why did they continue doing it in season three? And the thing is, we’re not “delusional” for thinking this. Hundreds of thousands of millions of people have pointed this out across all platforms. It stops being a problem with us and “seeing what we want to see” when millions of people see the same, and it becomes the writers problem for even implying that in the first place.

Here’s an example: take Lucas and Dustin. Sure, there are definitely people out there that think or head canon as either as gay, but not nearly as big of a community as the Byler community. The reason is: Lucas and Dustin don’t have queer coding. They haven’t been painted the same way as Mike and Will’s relationship has. Or Jonathan, yeah, people may head canon as him as gay, or even think he actually is, but he doesn’t have any evidence that really points up to the fact that he is, or that he could be.

The duffers aren’t stupid. They wouldn’t have written byler this way if they didn’t want people shipping it. The official ST writer account has acknowledged byler multiple times, before st3 even started filming. They knew what they were doing. If their goal was to portray Mike and Will as a simple platonic friendship, and that all of their queer coded scenes in st2 were just a coincidence, why would they continue to do it in season 3? Queer baiting is real, yes. However like I said before, the st writing team has a lot of queer and lgbtq+ members themselves, not sure why they would want to queer bait when they’re gay/lesbian/bisexual themselves.

The truth is, byler would have never made it this far if it wasn’t meant to be shipped and portrayed like more of a romantic relationship than a platonic one. They would have shut it down awhile ago. They wouldn’t be so ominous about it. Noah and Finn wouldn’t constantly dodge questions about it unless they legally weren’t allowed to answer them. The duffers wouldn’t have been so vague in the ending of season 3 or in any interviews regarding season 3 about byler. Mike and Will wouldn’t have gotten a whole segment in the official ST book, they wouldn’t have held hands! Seriously! They held hands. Did someone seriously not point out how non platonic that was?———

And use the excuse all you want, “Will was just scared. That’s why Mike held his hand.” Okay, well Max and Lucas held hands when they were both scared in the exact same episode but I guess that doesn’t count because they’re a boy and a girl and Mike and Will are two boys. ———-And it’s funny because you KNOW that if Mike promised to go crazy together with El, that would he in every Milevens Instagram bio, it’d be on merchandise, it’d be everywhere. If Mike said meeting El was the best thing he’s ever done, people would be going bat shit crazy over how romantic that is and how they’re so in love. If Mike and El fought and he ran out in the middle of the rain looking for her when he couldn’t even apologize to his real girlfriend who dumped him just hours prior, people would say that Mike was in love with El and how much he cares about her yadda yadda. But that’s the thing. It’s two boys, so apparently it has to be platonic. Because that’s just how it works in their cishet minds. ——I’d like to see a better argument then “it was all a coincidence.” Because that’s not valid. Why? Why do you think it’s all a coincidence? It’s all just fake? Please. Elaborate. Because if these romantic scenes involved Mike and El instead of Mike and Will, then they’d see. Because they didn’t have Finn and Noah rehearse all these romantic coded scenes multiple times for nothing. They literally wrote, revised, edited, rehearsed, and filmed ALL of these scenes and still went through with it. And even in season three when people really started shipping byler, they STILL directed Finn and Noah to look at eachothers lips. They still filmed the rain fight. KNOWING byler shippers existed and KNOWING this would only heighten the amount of byler shippers there are.

The duffers aren’t stupid. This isn’t a surface level show. Everything they do is intentional, they’ve said it themselves. And yes, I agree that some byler proof COULD just be apophenia, but stuff like this? Crazy together? Looking at eachothers lips? Holding hands? I’m the only one that cares about Will? Mike keeping his eyes open in the final Mileven kiss, those aren’t small little things. You’re telling me that they couldn’t find another take for that final Mileven kiss? No. Finn kept his eyes open because he was directed to do so. The duffers are writers and directors for a reason. They went to school for this. So please, I’d like to see some actual argument against byler other than “they said they loved eachother!” “It’s all a coincidence!” I’d like to see people actually counter my arguments with actual evidence. Not just “Finn says they’re in love” not just “Millie ships it!” Because interviews are not evidence. They’re instructed to create hype for the show. If David can lie about hopper being dead, Finn and Millie can lie about Mileven being in love. I don’t want the argument of “it’s been built up for 3 seasons so they won’t destroy it now.” Stancy was built up for 2 seasons and see how that turned out. And Mileven fell more in season three than it went up.

Anyways,, if you’re a polite Mileven, this isn’t for you. I love you with my whole heart. If you’re just vibing, I love you. Ship what you want to ship! Feel free to counter my argument! However, If you’re someone who calls us “delusional”, leave. The doors right there. The cast has talked about how much they hate the ship wars in our fandom, so if you’re just gonna say how stupid we are, don’t let the door hit you on the way out:)

do you have any thoughts on the theory that mike will be with the byers for most of s4? any predictions, theories, opinions etc?

I’m fairly sure that I’ve addressed this before, but perhaps you are a new reader for my blog. If that’s the case, then welcome! If not, then, eh, I’m home alone with nothing to do anyway.

What little we know about season 4 does seem to point to Mike being with the Byers for the bulk of season 4. Finn Wolfhard has been seen little during Atlanta filming, and, in fact, seemed to come in later on during the filming schedule. He was also slated to be filming in December. This was believed to be when filming would shift to Netflix’s New Mexico studio, where the Byers new home (apparently Southern California) would be shot.

We know from set photos that the season will take place in March. A school calendar shows Spring Break occurring late in the month, and, in fact, it starts with Will’s birthday on Saturday. This creates a scenario, which I think is very likely, where Mike goes to visit Will for his birthday. I don’t know if this is a planned trip or not. I know there’s a popular fan theory that Mike runs away, owing, at least in part, to scenes that make is seem that Karen is participating in some sort of search party. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Mike would need to be pretty angry and/or distraught to run off without telling his friends or family.

This fits in with the original table read photos from nearly a year ago. Finn was seated with Noah and Millie, rather than the other Hawkins residents. By itself, this maybe wouldn’t mean anything, but the other cast members did seem to be grouped together based on who they interacted with the most. I admit that I do not know the industry very well, but perhaps being close enough to see the person you’re speaking to allows for a better read of the dialogue. In this sense, it would make sense to seat people based on who they speak to most often.

As to how this would play out, I’m not really sure we have enough information to even predict. We don’t know if Mike was planning to go visit Will or if it ends up being an impulsive decision. We don’t know where his relationship with Will is at by then. Is he trying to make up for something? Is he insistent that they celebrate his birthday together? Why isn’t anyone else going? How does he get there? I originally thought he and Nancy would both go, allowing her to be the driver, but she seems to be in the Hawkins area for most of the season.

Does Will (or his family) even know that Mike is coming? I can foresee Mike coming up with an ill-thought-out plan where he decides to surprise Will. This invites a lot of potential misunderstandings, such as El assuming he came to see her. I’d hate to see her reduced to such a role, but we saw at the end of season 3 that she fell back into her obsession with him. I do think that this visit needs to address Mike in terms of where he stands with both El and Will, though.

Perhaps it is a planned visit, though, and Will and his family do know he’s coming. How will Mike react to the Byers new home? Does Will have any new friends? How would Mike react to that? Does El have any friends there? How would Mike react to that? Official information has been basically nonexistent regarding the Byers. All we really know is that Jonathan apparently has a friend there. Even the “leaks” contain very little information on this front, reflecting the fact that there’s just nothing to go on. I have to believe this means they intend this part of the plot to be very meaningful.

At the end of the day, though, all any of us can do is speculate. While I try to temper my predictions by going off any available information, I’m still liable to let my own personal preferences influence what I come up with. Even the fact that Mike goes to visit isn’t exactly proven. We won’t know anything for sure until the day the season finally launches. As for what I personally think happens, well, I don’t normally do this, but it IS Christmas, after all.

I think we get Mike in Hawkins in the days leading up to Spring Break. This much we know, as we’ve seen photos of Mike with Dustin, both in Hellfire Club shirts. Mike isn’t doing well in the months after the Byers leave, but everyone just assumes he’s heartsick over El. I think Mike joins the club, at Dustin’s behest, with Dustin perhaps suggesting that D&D would cheer him up. This will be the first D&D Mike has played since Will’s campaign, and this isn’t lost on him. This only makes him more miserable, and Dustin is confused. Lucas may try to explain it by telling Dustin about what happened with Will’s campaign, suggesting that Mike still feels guilty about it all. Basically, though, Mike can’t enjoy D&D without Will. It just isn’t the same. When Spring Break comes around, Mike packs his D&D stuff and heads for California. What happens next is hard to predict, but it’s safe to say that shenanigans ensue, misunderstandings are had, and supernatural danger creeps its way into their lives again.

I woke up the next day, the sun beaming out, the curtains are slightly open making the room lit up with sun. I sat down in the edge of the bed and drank some water from my tumbler. After I went to the bathroom to get ready. It was 7 am and I'll be meeting the cast on 8, after taking a bath. I took my luggage and took some Clothes. Black dress that is above my knee, black knee high boots, beige coat and black Gucci shoulder bag . I don't put makeup, just tint. I looked in the full body mirror. I took my phone and wallet and walked out of my room, I knocked in the next door waiting for Aidan to open it. After a few seconds the door opened and a head peeked out I tilted my head I opened the door and sat down on his bed.

"Are you gonna take like a whole Century to get ready?" I asked raising a brow, he looked at me his face scrunched up while taking a light washed polo.

"Shut up!" He whined and put on the polo, after a few minutes he was done he put on his shoes and we both head out. Walking out of the building we tried not to put all attention on us we saw Leo and Carson waiting for us they walked closer to us and escorted us to a car waiting, after a few we were on our way to the place where were going to meet up.

It was the day I'm going to be meeting the rest of the cast for 'Princess's secret Side' I knew Millie was going to be there along with Finn and some other friends, but we don't know who is going to be the Main starring cast along side me. I got ready wearing a black polo with black ripped jeans and hoodie over it. I went out while looking at Rianne's insta account. It's weird since she normally post new things everyday but she hasn't since yesterday. My sister greeted me before I completely got put of the house and hoped in the car. After a few we arrived in the place. I got out and walked inside and to the place where everyone was in. I entered the room and got greeted with chattering.

"Hey" I greeted and everyone looked at me. Millie smiled and got up wrapping her arms around me pulling me in a hug, Millie has always been this sister figure of mine, after a while the director of the film went inside and we all sat down in silence.

"So, you are all going to be part of our core cast alongside 2 of this actor and actress. So let me introduce you who is going to be the Brianna Wang" Our director greeted us and explained he looked at the man in black beside the door and said.

"They may come in" the guy opened the door and 2 figures came inside. My heart then started beating rapidly seeing the girl, it was Rianne... And her brother Aidan.

"The Gallagher siblings will be Brianna and Ace Wang" The director explained, everyone was silent for a sec but then Finn stood up, walk up to them and spoke.

"Hi! I'm Finn, it's nice to meet you" Finn introduce himself to the siblings stretching his arm out for a hand shake. Aidan took it and smiled, Sadie who was sitting next to me stood up and run towards Rianne smiling in the process. She stood infront of her and stretched it put for a handshake. Rianne took it and smiled.

"I'm Sadie... I know you.. I follow you in Insta" Sadie said and looked down.

"Nice to meet you Sadie.. I know you too, I watched Stranger Things and fell inlove with your character" Rianne replied, her voice calm and soft. Millie stood up and walked over to her too,

"Millie Bobby Brown, nice to meet you Rianne" Millie said smiling.

"Omg!! Hi Millie! I'm a fan by the way" Rianne said excitedly.

"Aww!! So sweet of you, I luv u too" Millie said pulling Rianne in a hug.

"Come on sit here" Millie said and walked over to me, Rianne then sat down in Sadie's previous seat her brother also sat down next to Jaeden. After settling everyone looked at our director as he speak.

"So since filming starts in a few weeks you'll be hanging out more so that you'll be closer and you know don't get akward, and also Louis and Rianne, try not to get akward. If you can" The director said pointing at me and Rianne. She nodded and looked towards her brother who was sitting across her. After a few more discussion our director said his goodbye and left us here. Silence creep out in the room making a thick air of akwardness.

"Wanna go get Starbucks?" Sadie asked braking the silence. Rianne nodded and they both stood making everyone look at them.

"What?" They both said in Unison making everyone grab there things and stand up. I stood next to Rianne, she was about until my shoulders since she was pretty tall, she looked up at me and blushed? Maybe I'm just seeing things.

"Let's go?" She asked Sadie

"Yeah Les go!" Sadie said and went out of the room followed by us, Rianne and my hands would brush from time to time making my blush really lightly. After a walking for a few minutes we were out of the building, we went inside a Limo that was waiting and hopped inside.

-20 minutes later

We got out of the limo and to the mall.

"So let's go in pairs?" Millie asked glancing at everyone, we nodded and started pairing.

We then went our own ways, Millie and Sophia going in Louis Vuitton, Caleb, Sadie and Gatten went to get Starbucks for us, and the rest I don't know where they went. Rianne and I didn't really know where to go so we're just walking somewhere we don't even know.

"So?" I asked breaking the silence. She didn't answer

"Where'd you wanna go?" I continued asking.

-Rianne

I was lost in thought, till I heard Louis' voice I snapped out and looked at him.

"Yea? Sorry I was lost in thought, mind asking what it is again?" I asked.

"I said where do you wanna go?" He asked.

"Sketchers, I wanna look at some rubber shoes" I replied. He nodded and we both walked towards Sketchers.

"so you like rubber shoes too?" Louis asked out of nowhere.

"I mean yeah there comfy" I said smiling a little. After talking we continued walking and reached the store, I went inside and looked at the displays, I felt someone's eyes on me so I looked back and saw Louis staring at me. I walked closer to him and poked him.

"Hey, you good?" I asked poking him. He snapped out of his trance and looked at me.

"oh yeah sorry.. you done picking?" He asked, I shook my head and replied:

"Nah, half of the displays, I already have it... I guess we should find the others" I replied and started walking towards the exit, Louis catched up and started making jokes making me giggle and laugh. My phone then dinged making me pick it an spooked who texted me. It was Aidan, I opened the message and saw

'Girl,Where you at? Millie said we should meet up in Starbucks'

'K sure'

I put my phone back in my bag and looked at Louis.

"Who is it?" He asked.

"Brother, he said ' Millie told us to meet in Starbucks' and so we'll be able to order." I replied and started walking towards Starbucks. After a few while we reached the store and saw the others sitting in the couches. They waved at us and we started walking towards them.

"You guys ordered already?" Louis asked.

"No, you didn't give us what we should order" Sadie said making us thinks again... She was right we didn't tell them what to buy..

"what's yours, Girl?" Sadie asked looking at me.

"Oreo Frappe" I replied, Sadie looked at me and said:

"Is that Frappe with Oreos?" I nodded and she started asking the others. After she walked away with Caleb. I lay my head down in the table since I was tired, it was now 6:43 pm and I'll be going back to the hotel after 3 hours. after a few Caleb and Sadie came back with our drinks. We chatted and talked while drinking, after finishing our drinks we all went out and I thought no fans saw us... I was wrong. Teens started running towards us asking to take pics and autographs. I let them do there thing and after what seemed to be hours they were done. we all continued our way around the mall strolling and just talking about things and stuffs.

-After 2 hours

After 2 hours of walking and talking we were now finally going back to our hotels.

"Guys we'll get going now" Aidan said and stood next to me, since he was 2½ inches smaller than me I put my forearm in his shoulder. He looked at me and glared.

"You really are embarrassing me!" Aidan said and took my arm off his shoulder, we then heard giggling from the casts. I looked at them and smiled shyly then look away. After saying our goodbyes both Me and Aidan got picked up by Leo and Carson.

-After getting home

I got out and walked towards my room and plopped myself down the bed. I went to the bathroom to shower and do my skincare routine. Minutes after I was done, I walked out of my bathroom to my bed and got ready to sleep it was now 10 pm and I do normally sleep at this time and I was pretty tired. I lay down and play some water sounds and stared in the ceiling.

'Filming starts next week... Better not start falling more inlove with Louis' I said in mind and started slowly falling asleep.

Hi guys! This is my first fanfic that I have ever posted, so sorry if it’s a little cringey or something. I hope y’all enjoy! Love you guys<3

Summary: You are a new member of the stranger things cast and you are getting interviewed with the rest of the cast.

Lots of fluff and gender neutral.

Trigger warnings: Mentions of anxiety and feeling less than.

“So y/n were you scared to start working with your other cast members since you came in on the third season?” The interviewer asked looking over at you expectantly.

“Um yes I was extremely scared. I felt so anxious the entire casting process and then I was so happy to get the role, but then I started feeling really anxious again thinking about how I was going to be acting around some really talented people and of course I didn’t want to mess up and ruin the production. Before I first met the cast I cried for like an hour and finally my mom told me just be the best you can be and so I walked in there with my head held high and immediately went to the farthest corner away from everybody. I was so shy for about the first three weeks of filming but I realized it was affecting my acting so I decided to just completely go for it and be myself and I am so glad I did, because I have made some of the best friends possible.” You rambled on. Slightly blushing after realizing you had just revealed a lot about yourself.

“Oh y/n/n you're going to make us cry” Finn said wiping away fake tears. The heat instantly started rushing into your cheeks. You had liked Finn since the first time you met. He was so cute and nice and also liked similar bands to you. You guys instantly bonded over your love of vinyl.

“Yeah y/n was so shy when they first came on the show we all thought at first they just didn’t like us, but it didn’t take much for us to realize they were just nervous to talk to everyone. The duffers even came to us and told us that at first y/n would probably be very shy but would slowly begin to open up to us. I remember the first time they laughed at a joke and everyone just kinda stopped and looked at them. They have one of the sweetest laughs.” Milly said.

Your heart warmed to Millie’s compliment and you gave her a little kpop heart while blushing. You should really get this blushing under control. It was getting ridiculous at this point.

“Oh y/n/n don’t get all embarrassed on us.” Caleb says laughing reaching over to pinch one of your now inflamed cheeks.

“Sorry I just get so embarrassed remembering how shy I was. I have grown so much since then, and the cast has really helped me gain so much confidence.” You said honestly looking at the interviewer.

“Y/n is like the cast’s baby.” Finn says looking over you.

“I am not.” They reply sassily. Everybody busts out laughing.

“Okay now the next question is for Finn.” The interviewer says looking over at Finn with an evil glint in his eye. You began to feel nervous. He was going to get a bad question wasn’t he.

“Shoot,” Finn says nonchalantly.

“I heard a rumor that you had a crush on one of your castmates while filming. Is this true?”

Now it was Finn’s turn to begin blushing. You had never heard of him having a crush on someone before. Was it Milly? You had thought you and Finn were pretty good friends now why wouldn’t he have told you?

“Man where do you guys get this info? You gotta tell me your source man.” Says Finn jokingly.

“Oh come on now don’t be shy Finny, tell the nice man the truth.” Milly said in a sing-song voice.

“Yeah come on Finn,” said Noah in the back. “Don't be shy.”

“Umm well I guess I may have had a small crush on one of the cast members.”

“Can we hear any details?”

“Well I’m not going to give any details but they are one of the sweetest, most beautiful people in the entire world and I still can’t believe that I was so lucky to even work in the same room as them.

“Wow that doesn’t sound like a little crush that sounds a lot like love my friend.” The interviewer says jokingly to Finn.

After that little escapade the interview seemed to end quite shortly after. It had actually been a lot of fun. You had never been interviewed on tv before, but still even amidst all the excitement you couldn’t help but think back to Finn's crush. Who was it? Was it Natalia? Maya? Sadie? Gaten? There were so many options each of your castmates were extremely beautiful and talented and smart, in a way that you could never be. Your mood immediately dampened thinking of that. In the words of Conan Gray “I wish I were Heather,” right about now. You continued walking along with the cast back to the suv that had taken you to the interview. You were first to the car so you did the courteous thing and climbed into the very back row. Finn right at your heels. Noah and Millie sat in the next row and Caleb sat in the front seat. Each of you had a lot of space since Gaten and Sadie didn’t come to this interview due to scheduling conflicts, yet Finn still sat so close to you could feel your leg touching against his.

Not five minutes into the ride everyone except you and Finn were immersed into a very loud and heated discussion about their thoughts on whether or not the french fries from McDonalds tasted better than the french fries from Wendy’s. Personally you didn’t like french fries so you just continued to stare out of the window to look at the scenery.

After a minute or two you felt two eyes boring into the side of your head, you turned slightly to your right and saw that finn was staring at you. Why was he looking at you? Dang you had a booger didn’t you? Oh god if you had a booger and finn saw it you would probably die from embarrassment.

“Okay I can’t handle not knowing do I have something on my face? Please just tell me.” You said turning fully towards finn and looking deep into his dark brown eyes.

“You.. uh. No..you don’t.. I just.. ugh. “

You sat patiently waiting for him to finish. Still staring at him expectantly he visibly sighed and looked back towards you.

“I mean no you don’t have any thing on your face other than your facial features.”

You laughed a little noticing his odd wording.

“Well that is good to hear because I thought I saw you looking at me and wasn’t for sure If I did or not.”

Finn let out a small jittery chuckle “No. Nope. You're totally good. Everythings good. I'm good. YOu're good. You look goo-.”

Your eyes widened, was he just about to say you looked good? Did he think you were pretty? No get that out of your head he clearly likes someone else, someone you're probably friends with and like too. Now that you couldn’t get your mind off of the topic again you decided to be brave and ask him about it.

“So..” You said turning your head towards him. He looked back at you looking nervous about what you were gonna say next. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable because I know it’s none of my business, but how come you never told me you had a crush on one of our cast mates?

“Oh so you heard that.” He said, turning his head to look down at his feet.

“Well yeah I think everyone heard that.” You said sarcastically. “I don’t want to make you feel like you have to tell me but if you wanna talk about it I can keep a pretty good secret.”

“Oh I know that. Remember that one time Sadie whispered something to you and you couldn’t stop laughing for like three hours straight? Filming literally got pushed back a day, and you wouldn’t tell anyone what she had told you because she asked you to keep it a secret.”

You felt yourself giggling thinking about what she had told you trying to get a reign on yourself you forced yourself to stop focusing on the joke and start focusing on something else. “Wow I’m surprised you remember that if I'm being completely honest. I mean you weren’t even in that scene.”

“Yeah but I like to watch you.” His eyes widened and he suddenly turned to look at your reaction. “I mean I like to watch you act because you’re a great actor/actress.”

Your cheeks began to redden at his words. He likes to watch you. He liked to watch you. He thought you were a great actor/actress. You kept repeating his words in your head and you felt yourself get more giddy each time you rethought of his previous words.

“You’re a pretty good actor yourself Mr. Wolfhard.”

“Thank you.” Now Finn was blushing. He looked so cute when he blushed. Well really he looked so cute when he did anything. You suddenly felt like your heart was going to beat out of your chest. Gosh you wished you could just kiss his freckled cheeks. Sadly, you thought that might give away that you have a crush on him. You knew you were staring but you just couldn’t make yourself stop. He was so gorgeous.

You both quickly made eye contact and looked away at each other. He likes someone else you had to repeat to yourself. You felt nauseous thinking about Finn with someone else but you wanted your friend to be happy. You were so curious so you decided to bring it up one last time.

“So do I get to know who the lucky person is that you have your eyes set on? I’ll even guess and you can tell me if I get it right or wrong if you are comfortable with that.”

“Yeah I don’t think you’ll guess correctly but you can try.”

You sat for a second and tried to think of everything that was said about this person. “Okay well apparently they are one of our cast mates and they’re very sweet, beautiful and talented. That could really be anyone now that i’m thinking about it.” You began stroking your imaginary beard.

Finn was just watching you with an amused look on his face.

“Okay I have my first official guess.”

“And who would that be my love?”

“The only person who I truly believe matches that description is David.” You couldn’t help but laugh at yourself.

“OMG how did you know?!” Finn says dramatically.

Tapping your forehead you whispered in your best british accent, “Just a brilliant mind I guess.”

“You are so close yet so far away from the correct answer.” Finn said in mock disappointment.

“Hmm who could it be. Who could it be.” As soon as you finished talking Millie's joyful laugh ripped through the van, and as you turned to Finn as he turned to Millie. You immediately knew who he liked. He liked- no loved Millie as the interviewer had put it. You could never compete with her. Milly was confident, gorgeous, kind and smart. All things that you seriously lacked.

Once everything died back down Finn turned to you and said, “Okay final answer. If you get this one wrong I guess you'll never know who The Finn Wolfhard likes.” After seeing the loving look he gave Millie you really didn’t want to keep playing this stupid game. It was clear to you now all the moments that you had ignored between them but you couldn’t continue to do that. There was clearly a lot of chemistry between the two, and who were you to stand in between that?

“Okay but for real I know who you like.” You said suddenly leaned closer to make sure not to give away the secret to prying ears. As much as you loved them you wouldn’t tell Finn’s secret no matter what.

“It’s Millie.”

Finn suddenly gave you a baffled look. “Wow for a second I thought you were going to say the correct answer, but clearly not.”

“Don’t be rude and you don’t have to lie to me anymore. Jokes over. I know the truth and so do you.” You turned back away the second you felt the tears begin to burn at the back of your eyes. Oh no. This was just great you were going to start sobbing next to your crush just because he doesn’t like you. You felt so pathetic. You never thought a boy would have this much hold over you. How had you even let this happen? This is absolutely ridiculous.

Almost as if he could sense you getting upset Finn leaned in close to you and whispered into your ear, “I don’t like Millie. I only have eyes for one person and they’re sitting right next to me.”

You didn’t turn around but you knew he saw your back stiffen as soon as he said the words.

“If this is a joke I will never speak to you again.” You said slowly turning towards him wiping the tears away from your eyes.

“I would never joke about something this important y/n/n. The first time I saw you, I immediately knew I wanted to be your everything. You make me feel a way no one else ever has. I get all tongue tied around you and I get butterflies in my stomach, but it’s so worth it if I get to be by your side even for a second. I have loved you and will continue to love you for the rest of my life.”

You were in disbelief at his words. You would've never imagined he could have ever felt this way about you.

“I feel the same way about you, Finny. You’re the sweetest person I have ever met.”

And then you were both smiling like fools at each other. You probably stared at each other for ten minutes straight before you each turned away. But you let out a happy sigh when Finn’s hand found your own and you intertwined your pinky’s together.

That's how you sat for the rest of the ride. Neither of you spoke or looked at each other. You both just continued to look out of the windows and revel in the fact that you both liked each other.

filming

authors notes: i kind of set this headcanon up a different way so i hope you enjoy it. it’ll be based on different aspects of like getting to know him and like being cast and stuff. this gif has nothing to do with the hc! lol sorry and as always enjoy

so you would probs audition for a new character on season 4

i’m think will and el meet her at school

and she has no parents and she hops from shelter to shelter

pretty much looking for a place to stay

since her parents died in a mysterious fire

which turns out to be that the hawkins lab killed them

because they threatened to go public with what they were

doing with the human trials

ANYWAY lets get to casting

so you would find out about the role on instagram

and you were relatively a new actor

like you weren't big in the acting industry

so you thought why not

there’d be multiple interviews

like one in l.a. and one in vancouver

but you would land the role

the duffers would describe you as

‘ the perfect one for the role and that your a groundbreaking actress and you need to get more recognition for your talent’

and obviously it would make you so fucking happy

so yeah filming starts really soon

𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚

so at first the duffers would not want you to tell anyone

but they made the exception for your family

but no friends

they were literally about telling NO friends

so netflix would post the new casting on their twitter and instagram

people would be excited for the role

but they wouldn’t really know who you were

so when your castamates found out

they would send hellos

and looking forward to working with you texts

so you really felt welcomed in the cast

millie would make it her personal mission

to be your new best friend

and while you would appreciate it

it would be really intimidating

but you texted her a lot

and she kinda told you about life on set

and she would talk about people

especially the younger group

so you would be really excited to meet her

so you would have a flight to georgia

and it would be really long and you’d

be kind of nervous

not really nervous like fucking crazy nervous

and you wouldn’t really know what to do

because auditioning wasn’t as bad as this

so you would get to set

and like immediately go to your trailer to

calm yourself down and prepare

so you would got to the first script reading

and the duffers would be like

‘ please welcome y/n to the family’

and everyone would like get up and clap for you

and go to hug you

joe’s hug was so warm

and you could tell that finn felt awkward

in the hug so you would end it really fast

because you didn't want anyone to be uncomfortable

but you would read the script and ultimately

you would fucking love it and you would be so excited for shooting

so you guys would not be friends for a while

you were still so overwhelmed meeting everyone

cause you knew him from social media

and he had reached out to you multiple times

so you guys were friends already

anyway you would get like rocky road or vanilla

or whatever no biggie

and suddenly

you would like drop your ice cream

and you would just be so sad

and finn would see

and just volunteer to buy you another one

and he would tell you it was no biggie

because friends do that for each other

and she was like acting mean

and finn would just say

‘will you go out with me’

and you’d be shocked and you’d look at the duffers

because that wasn’t his line

and the duffers would be like

‘ well? what do you say?’

and you would be like beaming

and of course you said yes

you would just run and hug him

and the entire cast and crew would applause and it would be so magical

like the perfect day

so your relationship would be just like your friendship

but with added cuddling and occasional kisses

you would be really close

okay nobody asked but i’m gonna talk about the first kiss between you guys

so you would be in his hotel room

because he asked you to tour with him and calpurnia

and it was crazy that your parents agreed

but here you were in finns room

watching him play with his guitar

as you just sit there playing bitlife

then the interviewer would ask

if you and finn were dating

and you would say no

and you would keep pushing

until eventually you put her in her place

‘ this interview has been so very rude, you’ve made all of us uncomfortable and we’re here to talk about the show not about our personal lives. put this in all of it, i’m sick of interviewers like you i’m done’

you walked off the set and finn and noah would stay behind like shocked

and noah would just break the silence

Okay so to be clear, I do think it's accurate that a lot of the main cast are working simultaneously on other productions. We know this for a fact, with Finn who is currently in London filming, Sadie who will be filming out of the country starting in May, and David who has said he will be juggling both ST and another production simultaneously once filming starts.

However, do I believe that Gaten has no idea when filming starts? Absolutely fucking not.

The reality is, the cast needs to know when filming starts bc they need to have their schedules with other projects align with their filming schedule for s5.

Hell, David Harbour was talking about filming for ST5 starting in summer 2023, all the way back in late 2022, meaning they could have all known as far back as then. I don't think like 1-2 actors get special treatment and the rest are just told the day before like HEY clear your schedule for the next ten months starting NOW! The main top billed cast have serious contracts that guarantee this is well planned out to accommodate them.

However, this does make what David said recently, about getting in trouble for saying June was the filming start date, going as far as to admit Netflix emailed him, is interesting to me...? Because if it's actually something that he got in trouble for, he wouldn't even say that he got in trouble for it, as I feel like that in and of itself would be a breach of contract?

And Noah has also been saying summer 2023, since late last year, and as of the last few months has been more specific by saying May. And then Finn made a point to say May on the record recently as well.

So it does make me wonder what they are being told to say right now. I truly don't think Noah would be out here saying May not once but multiple times, if he was told to not say it. And I don't think Finn would say it if he was told to not say it.

They know for a fact that every single thing they say and do gets hyper-analyzed, so that's why I just feel like the way things are going on rn, could actually be intentional despite me having heavy doubts up to this point...

We'll have to wait and find out.

It’s pretty ironic in retrospect that when the Sequel Trilogy began, there was a large pushback from racists and bigots that a black man and a woman couldn’t be the protagonists in the newest trilogy of Star Wars movies. People were honestly trying to boycott it because a white guy wasn’t the protagonist.

Now years later, the trilogy has come almost full circle with people refusing to see Finn as the co-protagonist of the ST or John Boyega as the male lead. I mean, if we want to look at it deeply enough, some people don’t even think Rey is the true protagonist, but Kylo is. It’s rather funny, in a sad way with the lack of self-awareness, that there are so many fans of the ST (Sequel Trilogy) that have forgotten, or don’t know, that originally there was a giant pushback for these heroes not to be the protagonists, yet years later, fans are echoing the intent of these people without realizing it. Finn has been sadly the biggest victim of this ironic mess. From being one of the central characters in all of the marketing, merchandise, advertising, and basically present and in full view of everything ST related, to slowly being forcibly pushed way into the back and made small enough on posters, merchandise, and media coverage at times that you actually need to zoom in or hunt down a trusty magnifying glass to find him.

The problem has extended from the #boycottstarwarsvii movement on social media in response to Boyega’s casting in 2014, to Lucasfilm (LFL) allowing multiple artworks to be created with Finn excluded, placed in the back, or smaller than the supporting characters, to the EU stories where he is sidelined, depicted as a joke, or generally just treated in a way that would make any sane black person, or person in general, go “Yikes!”. This isn’t an easy conversation to have, nor is it something many people even know how to approach, but from the perception of many fans, especially black fans and other fans of color, this comes across as pretty racist at best. So, without further delay, let us begin.

Friendly reminder, when people bash the idea of Finn being Force Sensitive, you make this guy smile.

Yeah, I’m not going to sugarcoat this, John being cast as Finn, the male lead/protagonist, alongside Daisy’s Rey, the female lead/protagonist, was met with a LOT of backlash. For those who don’t remember, or just weren’t following the TFA like a lunatic like other losers (me), there was a hashtag going around, #BoycottStarWarsVII, which if you couldn’t tell from the title, was for the boycott of TFA. The main reason for this all circles back to John Boyega being the lead that had many bigoted racists in their feelings (translation: mad).

How bad was it? Well, let me just show you:

These are the ones I can actually post. The others I have kept/found I won’t be posting due to the content in them being beyond disgusting. This was all over the place. Racists were rejecting the idea of a black male lead in Star Wars tooth and nail to the point of demanding people to boycott the newest movie.

So, how did the boycott go?

Something interesting about it though was that while some people were speaking up about the racist treatment that had been thrown at Finn:

Others had remained silent on it completely. There was an odd amount of radio silence on how the public was treating Finn and his actor John Boyega, and looking back on it now, when there is still a great amount of pushback against the character and actor, I can’t help but feel that silence was a choice, rather than ignorance. Which brings me to the main topic of this very article:

#WhereIsFinn?

The #WhereIsFinn movement was created by fans of the character who started to notice something…odd. Now, I can’t actually pinpoint the first moment Finn’s erasure had started, but I do remember the most prominent and famous one that many in the community still remember to this day, and that was the Chinese Poster for The Force Awakens.

Oh, this kriffing poster! Years later and my blood still boils like Anakin’s did on Mustafar! Now, I’m not pointing any fingers at any one individual at Lucasfilm, yet I highly doubt that if Rey was made smaller than a BB-8, or if Kylo was taken off of the poster, whoever said yes to this would have had the same response. Finn was made significantly smaller on the official Chinese poster for TFA. Now, for those reading this who don’t know, racism against black people isn’t just an American thing, I know, surprising, right? It’s something that happens everywhere, and movies with a black lead don’t usually do well overseas. So, someone made Finn smaller, and it somehow slipped through the cracks. A one-time thing though, right? It was a mistake and it’d never happen again. Lucasfilm would never try to make the co-protagonist of the sequel trilogy smaller or treat him with disrespect…right?

No, for those of you wondering, Finn isn’t allowed to even win the fight. BB-8 does and Poe lectures Finn.

Okay, why is Poe constantly being made bigger than Finn? Would this be approved if he was made bigger than Rey? Did someone sell their soul to Papa Palptine?

It sounds petty, but notice Rey and Kylo aren’t being made small, Poe, who’s not the co-protagonist, is made fairy decent sized, but Finn again is placed behind him and smaller.

Yeah, it’s been a LONG few years

Some of this is official artwork, some of these are posters, others are book covers, the backwards tux is how Rian Johnson thought Finn couldn’t dress himself, the leaky bacta suit was included in the film, etc. These are far from the only times Finn has been made small or been made a fool of since post-TFA Star Wars, but I wanted to give some type of understanding to what’s going on. Now, I know some people may be wondering: “Well he’s there. What’s the big deal?”

Well, to understand what it’s a big deal, you have to understand how Finn originally was marketed and depicted.

Regardless of your views on if Finn is Force Sensitive or not–which, if you’re doubtful, let me shamelessly plug another article I wrote about there being two awakenings in TFA (click here)–Finn was always presented as the male lead of the ST: heroic, brave, and important to the story. The idea of him being just as important to the ST as Rey, or the antagonist Kylo, wasn’t something that people scoffed at, which is a stark contrast to how things are going now.

Through these last few years, there has been a trend of individuals trying to remove Finn’s importance from Star Wars, whether it be by depicting him as smaller than characters he’s narratively bigger than, leaving him off of posters and artwork, depicted him as a joke in various forms of media like comics or books, or even just cropping him out of pictures completely. There are even attempts to make him seem less important on Wookieepedia or TvTropes.com, and it’s having a domino effect with how the powers that be see the character. Disney and Lucasfilm are businesses at the end of the day, and like any business, they do what’s best for them first and foremost. If certain fans and media go out of their way to erase, sideline, or mock Finn, then Disney and Lucasfilm will not try to course correct it, but rather let it continue or make less content for the character. Then fans of the character get less interested in content regarding Finn, and the cycle continues.

At first, many didn’t think much of it, yet as time went on, the number of instances that it seemed people were going out of their way to depict Finn as a supporting character or sidekick were starting to pile up. Its honestly become a trend now that if new content is coming out that has to do with the sequel trilogy era, you might as well play bingo for one of the ways Finn will be depicted.

If that’s not your flavor, then we have The Rise of Skywalker media coverage, which consists of basically Rey and Kylo, with article writers that seem to forget everything about the last two movies and can’t remember that they’re not on Archive of Our Own anymore.

The Journey to Rise of Skywalker really isn’t doing too hot for anything Finn related, if you couldn’t tell by the giant orbiting space station that is Poe’s head on the cover for Resistance Reborn. In Spark of the Resistance, Finn isn’t even in the book, sent off on some subplot with Chewie that likely we’ll never hear from again. Maybe he went back to Canto Bight to free the slave children instead of the horses. Side note, whose idea was it to have the former slave child of two decades (Finn) not even comment on the slave children at Canto Bight? Oh…yeah, never mind. There’s also Resistance Reborn, which is again more about Poe than anyone. There’s even a scene where Poe has to tie Finn’s tie because he doesn’t know how to do it, and so many people are now flashing back to the backwards tux.

At this point, I can already hear that person who always appears in discussions about Finn saying “Who cares? He’s just a supporting character who was a janitor. John isn’t the male lead”

First of all, go jump into a Sarlacc pit!

Second, let’s talk facts:

Huh, Finn sure does have a LOT of screen time for someone that doesn’t matter. Oh, well. Maybe, he was there for moral support.

As of both TFA and TLJ, Finn comes in 2nd to only Rey, while having 15 more mins of screen time than Kylo. In fact, in two movies, Finn has more screen time than Han or Leia had in their first two OT movies. Hell, Finn almost has as much as Obi-Wan did in his first two PT movies and Finn lost around 16 mins of screentime because he had the most deleted scenes out of TLJ. 7 deleted scenes if you’re curious. No, I don’t know why, beyond the fact that one of them had more Canto Bight in it, and yeah, that one should have been cut.

See, that’s the funny thing I’ve never understood about people saying that Kylo is the real co-protagonist and male lead, or that Poe is bigger narratively than Finn. Finn still has more screen time than Kylo in both TFA and TLJ and Poe isn’t even in the same league as Finn’s screen time in either of his two film appearances.

Further, John’s Finn represents something not seen in the Star Wars franchise ever before – the first and only black lead of any Star Wars movie let alone trilogy. Lando and Mace Windu didn’t exceed 10min of screen time in any of their films, and Ahmed Best’s Jar Jar in The Phantom Menace was severely reduced and nearly erased following the toxic backlash that drove the actor to contemplate suicide. And while James Earl Jones’ voice of Darth Vader is a timeless and iconic addition of black voice acting to the Star Wars franchise, Finn, and Finn alone, represents something more as a leading face of the concluding arc to arguably the most successful episodic series in cinematic history.

The real problem here is that there are people in the Star Wars community that just don’t want Finn to be the co-protagonist, the irony of which is amazing since it’s just the TFA boycott all over again. For every time someone says that Finn is the co-protagonist of the ST, there will be someone there to comment that he’s not. Kylo is, or in fact, Kylo is the SOLE protagonist of the ST and Rey is below him. So the irony that originally racists and sexists were boycotting the ST because they didn’t want to have a woman and a black man as the protagonists, have now turned into “fans” in general claiming that the true protagonist of the entire sequel trilogy is Kylo, the white guy.

Now, people putting Kylo above Finn isn’t the only cause of Finn’s erasure. As you can tell above or in recent merch or artwork, Poe is being depicted in front of Finn, bigger than him, more heroic, etc. Now, there is no problem with Poe getting more of a spotlight. But when every single thing that comes out is constantly depicting Poe, a character who is at best a supporting role that was upgraded to the status of one of the main characters in TLJ, as bigger and narratively more important than Finn, who dominated the marketing for TFA and still has more narrative presence in the trilogy than Poe, it comes off as colorism at worst and biased favoritism at best from LFL. Recently there’s been a drought of actual Finn content that treats the character with respect or even content at all with him in it at all. Meanwhile, the EU for the ST is practically filled with Poe to the point of arguably oversaturation for some. Now, I like Poe and I like Oscar, and maybe others can’t see it because they’re not used to colorism, but as a black man myself (Kenyan-Brazilian to be exact), I’d be lying if I said that elevating a white-passing Latino man of color like Oscar’s Poe while slowly erasing a darker-skinned Black man like John’s Finn doesn’t look like clear colorism on LFL’s part from the perspective of many black fans. For black fans, it seems like there is a constant battle to remind people of Finn’s status in the trilogy while everyone is trying to put Kylo and Poe above him.

Since 2016 when Finn’s erasure started to take place, people on social media have been trying to bring attention to this problem, yet they’ve been met with others in the fandom ignoring them, or suddenly saying it doesn’t matter and changing the topic. In fact, recently, while even more people have been trying to bring attention to #WhereIsFinn, the #WhereisRose tag was created. Not only was it picked up by Nerdist, but major social media accounts agreed there was a problem with how Rose (who, mind you, is a supporting character) wasn’t on the initial merch, but were silent about the co-protagonist being shoved in the back behind Poe, made smaller, or not being present in the marketing in the same levels he was at the start.

I’m not knocking you for trying, Nerdiest, but it’d help if you also talked about #WhereIsFinn that has been going on since 2016.

It’s actually ironic that OP has never touched on Finn’s erase or his placement in the back…

The thing about #WhereIsRose is not that it’s a bad thing to bring attention to the fact that Rose isn’t in the TROS marketing or merch, it’s the fact that these same people who are fighting for what they feel is an injustice, are totally ignoring the blatant racism and erasure of what’s going on with Finn. The difference is, some of these people aren’t even overtly racist, but they are against the idea of Finn being the co-protagonist. So this erasure of him isn’t seen as a bad thing, it’s seen as what should be. For instance, there is a vocal shipping community in the Star Wars fandom that has ironically been echoing many of the same things that the bigots did when the ST began. Only instead of the bigots who said “Finn shouldn’t be,” you have shippers saying “Finn isn’t” whenever it is said that Finn is the co-protagonist, or the male lead, etc, etc.

Another puzzling aspect of #WhereIsRose, is that if the objective co-lead of the trilogy is getting sidelined, or artistically segregated into tiny portrayals with the other black characters, what hope is there to give a supporting POC character proper justice and representation? In fact, we’ve seen the result of successfully gaining attention for #WhereIsRose without any thought or consideration for #WhereIsFinn.

Take for instance this The Rise of Skywalker art (below), which segregated the black characters to be much smaller than Poe, and left out Rose. After the artist acknowledged #WhereIsRose backlash, the artist then added in Rose, placing her in front of the other black characters. In doing so, the art now further segregates and minimizes the black characters behind Rose and under Poe. The artist has yet to acknowledge the #WhereisFinn trend pointing out the artistic segregation even though they were quick to acknowledge the #WhereisRose trend AND act upon it.

Approving artistic representation such as that above spells out an extremely negative portrayal of ALL black characters, since not a single one of them could break a bigger feature than Poe – a secondary supporting character. Regardless of the artist’s intent, and without their responding to or acknowledging the #WhereIsFinn trend – it sends a message of favoritism and apathy at best, and accurately portrays colorism and anti-blackness at worst.

You see, that is in of itself is part of the reason why #WhereIsFinn even exists. Finn’s erasure is coming from all sides at this point, and only certain fans even care about it or recognize it, most of them being fans of color who are openly getting ignored or mocked. I’m not saying it has to be #WhereIsFinn vs #WhereIsRose, but if you think the lack of Rose merch is a problem and gives a voice to the racists and sexists, and see ZERO problems with Finn’s erasure and sidelining over the last few years, then there is a severe problem with how you are seeing the world and its problems with race. No, it is not right for a black man to be the co-protagonist, be on equal footing with two other white characters, then years later be placed in the back of everything or not even shown at all. There is a problem with this and people need to see it. No one is saying that we shouldn’t ask about Rose, regardless of if she is a supporting character or not, but all we are asking, and by we, I’m now referring to myself and many black fans at this moment, is that the same type of energy be used to help defend Finn and John Boyega from the racist treatment that has been going on since 2014.

People stood up for Rey, people are standing up for Rose, yet whenever it is time to stand up for Finn, no one does a damn thing. All many fans of Finn are asking for is that the same effort people give in fighting sexism or racism against other characters, they do the same for Finn.

But to be the devil’s advocate, for once in this argument, let me tackle why #WhereIsFinn isn’t picking up the same coverage that #WhereIsRey did get and #WhereIsRose is now picking up.

People. ARE. TIRED.

There is nothing more disheartening for a black fan, or a fan of Finn in general, who really wants good content for the character, than to be met with a comic that projects the negative attitudes that the fandom has for Finn by calling him a janitor in the description or having him scream “fear my mop!” while dirty water drips on his shoulder as Kylo stares him down. Regardless of Canon already debunking multiple times that Finn wasn’t just not a janitor, but rather one of the best cadets that the stormtrooper program ever had, seeing Finn depicted as a joke or a sidekick just makes fans and non-fans of the character not want to even consume his content. No one wants to see their heroes constantly made to look bad, and that’s something parts of the community and LFL do at times, which has a domino effect on how people absorb Finn content.

The second reason, that is in relation to everything we’ve talked about, is that Finn barely gets good, solo content made for him at all. There aren’t even many people championing for the character to be seen anymore because of the fact that all attempts to bring awareness to this problem, have fallen on deaf ears. There isn’t an “FN-2187 comic series or novel” that is used to flesh out Finn’s life and suffering when he was in the First Order while providing world-building for the FO and its characters. There isn’t a “Finn’s journal” that helps dive into the character’s inner POV and feelings throughout his adventure. In contrast, there has been a decent amount of solo content for Rose, Rey, Poe, and as of recently, Kylo, yet we still have nothing for standalone for Finn that’s detailed and personable.

After years of trying to make it clear Finn wasn’t a janitor by citing Lucasfilm’s own canon, Finn’s comic description calls him a janitor, shows a preview of him playing with a mop he doesn’t know how to use. Why? Who the kriff knows

It’s rather hard for people to feel anything but disappointment for this character they cared about because of how he’s been handled, and that disappointment is having a negative effect on how everyone in the community, media, and even Lucasfilm treats Finn.

This character means something to people:

This character is an inspiration to many black fans, not just because he’s the lead in one of the biggest franchises in all of cinema, but because he’s someone who was oppressed by a system that enslaved him and chose to be better, to do the right thing, and stand up for what’s right, regardless of what the cost of it was to him. Seeing so many people at LFL, in the Star Wars community, and in the media not only refuse to treat the character with any respect, but also act like he deserves disrespect, is heartbreaking to many many fans of Finn who relate to the character, regardless of their skin color, age, or gender.

It doesn’t matter what you are in this world. We all want the same thing in life, and that’s to feel like we belong. This article isn’t being written to target anyone, it’s not being written to start any fandom drama. The reason this article exists is that there are a lot of fans not getting their voices heard when it comes to trying to fight for Finn, and we want to give that voice a platform. We want people to hear them because this message is important. FINN. IS. IMPORTANT. He’s important for reasons of representation, he’s important to people who want to believe they can change their life for the better, and he’s important to the story of this trilogy. All we’re asking, all anyone is asking, is for him to get the treatment he deserves from the media, community, and LFL. That is why people are asking where is Finn.

The young cast is getting so big, idk how they will look when they start filming s4. Like Fin for example cut his hair very short, gaten too. Maybe they all will have a change of looks, noah’s hair is probably the worst tbh

Yeah unfortunately for Noah idk if Will will be losing that bowlcut anytime soon 😖 But yeah the kids rlly do look so different each season. It always makes me think of Harry Potter lol and how if u look at a picture of Daniel Radcliffe or Emma Watson or Rupert Grint when they were teenagers u can tell exactly which movie they were filming at the time bc they look so different in each of them lmaoooo. For the hair tho idk if that’ll be a huge difference bc I’m pretty sure the hair department uses a lot of wigs and extensions and stuff while filming so even if Gaten and Finn cut their hair who knows yet whether we’ll rlly see a difference in the show (I mean Finn’s hair has changed dramatically each year since the show came out and Mike is still out there with his mop head bowl cut). I’m rlly curious how El is gonna look next season when it comes to hair tho. Like are they gonna continue to have her grow it out, or are they gonna keep her length as is. Millie’s hair is slightly longer now but they may always cut it when filming begins..... I’m def excited to see what they do with her

'Stranger Things' Season 5 Coming Out On July 2022 ! Wait

Foreigner effects is nearly at an end as generators Matt and Ross Duffer have verified that Season 5 will be the show's last.The Netflix drive released Volume 2 of its fourth season on Friday, July 1, bringing its most instigative chapter to a dramatic conclusion. But suckers are no doubt wondering when the show will return for its fifth and final season, so then's everything that we know so far. Here is the list of the expected cast for Stranger Things season 5: - Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven. - Finn Wolfhard as Mike. - Noah Schnapp as Will. - Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas. - Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin. - Priah Ferguson as Erica. - David Harbour as Jim Hopper. - Winona Ryder as Joyce. In February 2022, the Duffer sisters participated a letter with suckers explaining that the story bow they had in mind for Eleven( Millie Bobby Brown) and her musketeers was" too long" for just four seasons, so they had extended it to five. They wrote" Seven times ago we planned out the complete story bow for Foreigner effects. At the time we prognosticated the story would last four to five seasons. " It proved too large to tell in four, but as you will soon see for yourselves we are now casting toward our homestretch. Season 4 will be the penultimate season, and season 5 will be the last." While they verified Stranger effects would come to an end, the Duffer sisters added that there were" numerous further instigative stories to tell" within the show's macrocosm, though they did not clarify if that meant a derivation show was in the workshop. Firstly, the Duffer sisters intended to retake Season 5 straight after Season 4 so that the story had one successive narrative, but because of the COVID- 19 epidemic they had to change this original plan. Speaking to TVLine about the fifth season and when they intended to retake, Matt explained" I am not sure we are ready to say yet a launch date for firing. But a lot of it's enough well counterplotted out." So, given what theco-creator has said it isn't clear yet when Season 5 will start rephotographing, which means a release date has not been given for the show's final occurrences moreover. Filming for Season 4 wrapped in September 2021 with the first seven occurrences being released roughly eight months latterly on Friday, May 27 and also the coming two coming out just over a month after that. While it isn't yet known when rephotographing for Season 5 will begin, it's safe to assume, given Season 4's filming and release timeframe, that the show's final occurrences won't come out until late 2023 at the foremost. One thing that has been verified, however, is that Netflix won't change their bingeing model for the final season of Stranger effects because the streaming service acknowledges that" would be disappointing" for suckers. Peter Friedlander, Netflix's head of scripted series for the U.S. and Canada, spoke about the show's anticipated release schedule at panel moderated by Variety at the HRTS chairpersons Luncheon in June 2022. Friedlander said" For the suckers of Stranger effects this is how they have been watching that show, and I suppose to change that on them would be disappointing. 'Stranger Things': What Season 2 told us to expect for Season 3

There's no way to not binge watch Stranger Things no matter how hard you try to make the nine episodes last as long as possible. Especially knowing that Season 3 won't be around until 2019, but all of us here at MTTG wound up breaking our Season 2 viewing into two days unlike Season 1 which had us spending all afternoon glued to our 4K television. The Duffer Brothers have said they wanted this season to wrap up more plot threads than in the first season, but it seems they left plenty more for us to comment on and then ask what will come of them in 2019. Season 2 didn't end with such a big cliffhanger as one did, but it did give us a nice warm happy feeling even (who couldn't get all fuzzy feeling at that dance?) with that little peek into what's coming back. HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO WAIT? After Season 1 premiered, it took Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer 15 months to write, film, and add all the creature-feature special effects to the second season of their hit Netflix series. With stars like Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, and Millie Bobby Brown increasingly in demand on major upcoming film projects like It 2, Hellboy, and Godzilla: King of Monsters, the Duffer brothers might find it even more challenging to get their entire cast together to film Season 3. Either way, fans likely won’t get another installment in this particular adventure until 2019. No Game of Thrones or Stranger Things in 2018? What’s a genre-lover to do? When Season 3 does premiere, the Duffers have confirmed the show will feature yet another significant time jump in order to keep pace with its young, growing cast members. If Stranger Things does leap forward one year in time (say, to the end of Eleven’s confinement?), then expect to see a few more inches of hair on its leading lady’s head and, perhaps, the start of her first-ever school year with the rest of her friends. If all the kids—Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, Max—are 14 in Season 3, that means we’ll likely see them all bravely entering the dangerous territory of ninth grade at Hawkins High. WHO WILL BE THE BIG BAD?

If the finale is any indication, the Big Bad of Season 3 seems like it will be the same as ever—the giant, shadowy creature that the kids call the Mind Flayer. As Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter:

They’ve shut the door on the Mind Flayer, but not only is it still there in the Upside Down, but it also is very much aware of the kids, particularly Eleven. It had not encountered her and her powers until that final episode. Now, it knows that she’s out there. We wanted to end on a little bit of an ominous note. Well, no wonder the episode concluded with that classic 80s ode to stalking: 1983’s “Every Breath You Take” by The Police. We’ve seen the Mind Flayer looming over Hawkins before, but now it seems to have zeroed in precisely on Eleven—and will be closely watching every breath, step, claim, smile, vow, and move she makes. HOW WILL IT GET IN?

In previous seasons, Will has acted as an unwilling gateway of sorts to the Mind Flayer’s attempts to invade and destroy Hawkins, Indiana. Will he again act as the monster’s vessel? The Duffers have said the once-possessed Will has now been cleansed of any supernatural invaders, but actor Noah Schnapp is not convinced. “I personally think it’s not all out of him,” he told THR. “I feel like it can’t be. There’s this massive monster taking over all of Hawkins, and all you have to do is light a few fires and turn on a few heaters, and he’s gone? It just doesn’t make sense to me, really. He’s still there—I just don’t know how.” If I were Mike, I would keep a close eye on my best friend for any sign of “The Spy.”

IF NOT WILL, THEN WHO?

If the Duffers are not playing coy and Will is completely cleansed of any trace of the Mind Flayer, then who else could help the many-legged creep sneak back into Hawkins? Well, bear in mind that while exploring the creepy underground caverns created by the monster, both Sheriff Hopper and Dustin got sprayed in the face with Upside Down pollen. Hopper wasn‘t wearing any protection when he got hit—twice. Dustin, who was sensibly wearing goggles and a bandana, claims some of that dust got in his mouth. Either one of them—both emotionally fragile people at the end of Season 2—could be unknowingly incubating something nasty.

And if Hopper does wind up being the vehicle for this particular brand of evil, a quick trip under his cabin floorboards could hint at how that nastiness might manifest. We haven’t seen Hopper’s war experience take a toll on him (the grief he was nursing seemed pegged to his late daughter), but Vietnam-inspired P.T.S.D. was very much a subject of fascination in 80s pop culture. Will Season 3 take us on a hellish climb up Jacob’s Ladder (1990)? CHEKOV’S DEMODOG

One final possibility for a Season 3 invader could be the dead (or is it?) Demodog that Dustin and Steve stuffed in Joyce’s fridge. The creature doesn’t get another mention—not even in the “One Month Later” montage—but it’s hard to imagine students of pop culture like Ross and Matt Duffer ignoring something as enticing as that thawable critter on ice.

ANOTHER ANTAGONIST

If the Duffers want to give the Mind Flayer a rest for a year, only to bring him back for the planned fourth and final season, then there are a few other possibilities as to who might cause trouble for Eleven et al. next year. High on the list has to be her long-lost “sister” Eight, a.k.a. Kali (Linnea Berthelsen). Kali’s particular set of skills—being able to make you see whatever she wants you to—plus her violent, vengeful mission could easily put her on a path to come to blows with Eleven. (Those hallucination skills could also link up with a potential PTSD plotline for Hopper.) We also don’t know what Eleven’s other labmates (One-Seven, Nine, and Ten) are up to. We could have a big X-Men-esque showdown on our hands before all is said and done.

Another possibility for Kali and her rag-tag band of punks is that the Duffer brothers intend the seventh episode of this season to operate as a backdoor pilot for an Eight-centric spin-off series. (In fact, the brothers referred to that episode as “a whole little other pilot” when speaking with Entertainment Weekly.) Given the critical reaction to Eight’s episode (which was mixed at best), that spin-off seems unlikely. But either way, we’ve surely not seen the last of Kali who, bear in mind, is named after the Hindu goddess best-known for being “the destroyer of worlds.”

PAPA, CAN YOU HEAR ME?

Eleven could also face danger from another pseudo member of her family: Dr. Brenner a.k.a. “Papa.” Though Matthew Modine’s Season 1 antagonist only appeared in flashbacks and visions this season, the Duffers have been quite clear that there’s probably more in store for him. Matt Duffer told IGN:

I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner… as an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me—when the monster jumps on him, and we cut away. He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there’s a possibility of seeing him again. Season 2 leaned in heavily on the notion that Benner is not quite dead yet. So Season 3 could give us a battle of Eleven’s father figures: Hopper vs. Brenner. WHO WON’T BE BACK

Though we likely haven’t seen the last of Brenner or Eight, we did see the Department of Energy chased out of Hawkins, hopefully for good. I’m not saying a shadowy government conspiracy won’t rear its head in future installments, but it would be nice to give the DoE a break from the villain role. I also wouldn’t mind if Billy, a truly unnecessary new character, disappeared into thin air.

Also, please let this be the last we hear of Barb Holland. Season 2 was far too preoccupied with serving the fan demand of “justice for Barb.” Justice having been served, I hope she rests, permanently, in peace. WHO HAS TO COME BACK

As with all high school-set stories, Stranger Things may have written itself into a bit of a corner when it came to graduating characters. It’s a fine tradition for teen shows to find some excuse to have their 18-year-old characters stick around town even after their senior years end, whether it be following burnouts like Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights or inventing conveniently localized universities like Hearst College (Veronica Mars), U.C. Sunnydale (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), or California University (Beverly Hills, 90210). So what, oh what will the Duffers do to keep graduating senior Steve Harrington in Hawkins next year? There’s no way they get rid of fan favorite and Season 2 MVP Joe Keery.

The third season could take place over 1985 summer vacation—but that seems unlikely, given the show’s penchant for autumn. Instead, the Duffers cleverly planted the idea in Season 2, Episode 1 that Steve might stick around town and go work for his old man in order to keep a protective eye on his now-ex Nancy. That’s not what I want for Steve the character. (Move on, Steve! Go to college!) But if it means the world’s best babysitter and his incredible head of hair stays in the mix for Season 3, then I’m all for it. The Jonathan/Nancy/Steve love triangle will live to fight another day.

FRIENDS AND LOVERS

Speaking of love triangles: the dynamic gently simmering in the background of Season 2 between Joyce, Bob, and Hopper means that we can all expect Will’s mom and Eleven’s adopted dad to go full Brady Bunch at some point in the future. Will the Duffers make us wait until the end of Season 4 for the moment we all can see coming?

Yes, Bob Newby’s heroic corpse is still warm, but Jopper fans need this question asked right up front. Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper certainly share a traumatic experience now, if not several, and they’ve got a long history that dates back to sneaking cigarettes together in high school. There’s something in their final moments this season that suggests this pair may be closer to uniting than ever before. Just think, Will and Eleven could be step-siblings! David Harbour certainly wants it to happen, saying on Beyond Stranger Things that “the sex would be a lot better with Hopper than it is with Bob.” Ouch. Were Dustin and Hopper infected in the tunnels?

A whole bunch of characters travel into the Upside Down–esque tunnels in Stranger Things 2, but two of our favorites also ingest a great deal of the funky stuff that’s floating around down there. Hopper spent a great deal of time trapped by those supernatural vines and Dustin swallowed a big chunk of Upside Down ephemera. Given the Duffer brothers’ reverence of Aliens, will these occurrences come back to haunt them? Like Will, might they develop a connection to this other dimension, or worse? If Dustin ends up having the Stranger Things version of a chest-burster, we’ll need years of therapy to deal with it.

What role will Kali play next season?

After that incredible opening scene for Stranger Things 2, we don’t see Linnea Berthelsen’s Kali until close to the end of the season, as Eleven has an adventure with her psychic “sister” that teaches our heroine the extent of her own powers. But is that it for Kali and her Warriors-esque crew? It’s hard to believe we’ve seen the last of her, not only because her connection to Eleven remains strong but because her arc ended so abruptly. There wasn’t the closure this character demands. There’s a lot more to this character and more story to tell.

Are there other numbers out there?

While we’re on the subject, are there other people like Kali and Eleven hiding in the Stranger Things universe? If we’ve met Eight and Eleven, where are the rest? The flashbacks to Eleven’s childhood and the way she connects with Eight certainly implies there could be more kids out there with similar powers. This is the kind of question that may not be answered in Stranger Things 3, but could come up in later seasons — or possibly a spinoff series. Just picture it: Stranger Things 5: Eleven Meets Twelve.

Will the Mind Flayer be the antagonist of season three?

That final shot of Stranger Things 2 is a beauty, and not just because it adds another layer to the use of “the stalker song,” as Gaten Matarazzo describes the Police’s “Every Breath You Take” in Beyond Stranger Things. The Mind Flayer is still watching every breath that the gang takes during the Snow Ball, as we see it stalking about Hawkins Middle School in the Upside Down. Does this mean that it’ll be back as the main villain next year? Or even further into the arc of the show? It certainly implies that we haven’t seen the last of this great TV villain.

Will Dr. Brenner return?

One of the most interesting developments in Stranger Things 2 is the strong implication that Matthew Modine’s Dr. Brenner is still alive. Not only does Kali tell Eleven that she hasn’t looked hard enough for “Papa,” but the Hawkins Lab goon that they threaten says that he can actually take them to Brenner. It’s not hard to envision a return for Modine’s formidable character in season three or beyond. After all, Eleven hasn’t completely closed the door on the first person to show her any care, so there’s a reason why she still hasn’t tried to track him down. (Also, Millie Bobby Brown has some fascinating insight into the Brenner-Eleven relationship in Beyond Stranger Things.) Whether it’s in flashbacks or an actual return to Hawkins, Brenner will almost certainly surface again.

Is Will Byers finally free?

The main narrative thrust of Stranger Things 2 was Will’s connection to the Upside Down, but are we sure that he’s been saved for good? We know that the Mind Flayer was able to hide itself pretty well inside Will’s mind. What if there’s still a deadly connection between it and Will? This poor kid just can’t catch a break.

What’ll happen to poor Steve?

The love triangle between Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan is all but over, officially leaving Steve as the third wheel. Sure, he’s become a big brother figure for Dustin, but is that enough to keep this character around for Stranger Things 3? He’ll be graduating from Hawkins High pretty soon, and as much as he’s a fan favorite, it feels like he’d be the one to go if the show decides to make room for new characters.

Is Hawkins Lab closed for good?

As most of the technicians at Hawkins Laboratory turned into food for Demodogs, and the rest drove off after Murray dropped his bombshell scoop about Barb’s death, it feels like the door is finally closed on the Hawkins Lab arc of Stranger Things. If we had to guess, season three will move away from characters like Dr. Brenner and Dr. Owens as primary characters, although a place like that surely has more secrets from its past just waiting to be unearthed.
