#i miss that era of the dsmp actually

jack manifold perfectly uses the multi-pov format of the dream smp to create a villain who’s motives are clear and who you can genuinely root for while understanding what he’s doing is Bad in this essay i will-

Tubbo saying Wilbur's dsmp character is his favorite has really stuck with me -- particularly as we have now passed the anniversary for Wilbur's first dsmp appearance and approach the anniversary of the first big L'Manberg era streams.Like, man carried that server even when he wasn't doing lore actively. He advised, acted as springboard, became a secondary character if needed and created concepts and ideas for people to build on his entire time on the server. His fingerprints were everywhere and people spent their entire time on the server trying to chase the high of the shit he built in a few months.

I think about the little ways he showed you could do character building through both absence and Minecraft books and trying to embrace the mantra of "assume canon unless someone says it's not" and I lose it. I think about how he adopted little mannerisms and phrasing just for the audience and actively used audience POV to both hide and explore different little details about what was going on. Like think about how he used Tommy's POV (and lack of POV) to tell you things about his own character in multiple arcs. It's just a step beyond breaking the fourth wall to give a us a cheeky wink and actually using the fourth wall and POV bias to control what the audience is expecting.

Ugh. He did so well. I miss it. I miss him roleplaying so much.

What's your favorite era of emduo? Mine's definitely antarctic empire era. They were so good. I miss our antarctic empire boys. There was something about their dynamic on that server, in combination with pete. Simply impeccable vibes. (I love all their other eras just as much but I'm just especially soft about this)

AE has to be up there, obviously. I have a big soft spot for dsmp emduo as dsmp is what got me INTO Techno real big, and I still do love that server's story and the characters and all of the fancreations (idc if people think it's cringe). "What did they do to you Phil" and "You actually got him" and "for you, the world" and "THREE MONTHS PHIL!!!". Dsmp!emduo is very important to me. But I do think AE is up there as a fav.

I have an additional very soft spot for osmp emduo with malewife fail supervillain crowfather and his lackey best friend bunnyblade who is only there for the carrots.

(or the other osmp variant that exists only in my head: powerful immortal elytrian Philza (possibly still a malewife lbr) and his best friend regular guy only-human-in-the-commune Techno)

Trying so hard to not be Cringe and Annoying but I do miss the 2021 era dsmp. I do a lot. Frequently. I miss the way it felt, I miss the content, I miss the vibes, I miss the music, I miss the cosplayers and fanfics and the fandom despite all the conflicts. I miss TommyInnit being the funniest motherfucker I'd ever had the pleasure of watching (he still is but I don't watch his stuff as much) and I miss the cbeeduo lore and I miss just beginning to leave quarantine at home and watching Twitter and Tumblr for stuff relating to the beeduo meetup and the latest Tommy mod videos and actually watching MCC. I miss binge reading Passerine and crying enough that I emptied one of those giant jugs of water meant to last the day. I miss the annoying and cringey memes and being able to talk about lore with my friends and making friends in the VCs of Ranboo or Wilbur's discord server. Sorry. The nostalgia got me.

tommyinnit’s clinic for supervillains by bonesandthebees (bonesandcacti) — [26/26 chapters, 189k words] aka “clinic”. A superhero au from Tommy’s pov where he’s just chillin with his healing powers and then he heals a villain and then gets sucked into it. He also gets attached to this Wilbur guy that visits the coffee shop he works at.

the world forgetting by the world forgot by bonesandthebees (bonesandcacti) — [21/21, 165k words] A superhero au from Tommy’s pov where he is the hero Dream’s sidekick and has terrible amnesia, forgetting the entirety of what happened the year before. The Syndicate, a band of villains, is looking for something that was stolen from them.

Hush Now (You Were Lost But Now You’re Found) by CorpseArt — [Incomplete, 56/?, 301k] A superhero AU where Tommy was Dream's sidekick and made it his entire person, and then Dream kicks him out of the Hero Corp. Tommy needs to figure out what the fuck is going on, bc there's no way Dream would just do that, even if he did protect the villain Siren. Their one rule is to not kill. Also he meets this funky man named Wilbur at a coffee shop and they become besties. (Pogtopia my absolute beloved.)

say you’re open by remrose — [9/9, 43k] A magic AU from Wilbur’s pov where he finds this kid unconscious on the floor if his shop after attending his mother’s funeral, obviously bearing the marks of intense chaos magic. He takes care of the kid. He also gets sold a mysterious object. The twinsduo here makes my heart sing. Also Phil is kind of like “you are mildly breaking the law” and Neapolitan trio just shrug.

Technoblade’s Entirely Average Babysitting Gig by opheliabloo — [3/3, 34k] A Techno pov fic where he is in college and needs money. A really shady family is offering like 20k for babysitting for 3 hours or something absurd like that, and him being a money-hungry college student, he ventures to this house in the middle of nowhere to take care of gremlin children that try to kill him.

His Curse of Binding by bari_astralis (orphan_account) — [30/30, 144k words] A foster au from Tommy’s pov where he is reincarnated into different Greek hero stories and he needs to figure out who this time’s story is before his sixteenth birthday. Featuring: Complicated SBI bonding, (minor) Clementine being a girlboss, bench trio being absolutely precious, allium duo making fun of each other but alsok being so damn precious, Linda Smith and Miss Allingham bashing (you’ll understand when you read it, I hate their guts), and generally trying to find your peace in life.

Breathing’s Just a Rhythm by MollyPollyKinz — [53/53, 186k] A time travel canon-divergent fic where Tommy, Schlatt, Dream, Tubbo, and The Voices travel from Exile era back to Pogtopia-Manburg era, and they've gotta fix the shitty world and avoid Dream at all fucking costs. Relationship building happens, and the Voices are the best character to ever exist in all literature.

the from ice to water series by Drhair76, plantform — [12 works, 157k words] The main fic is icing those hurts, but my personal favorite is hailing on you. An ice skating au fic centered around found family and belonging in a place without harm. In the main fic, Tommy gets healed, but in hailing on you, Wilbur gets healed and it's so sweet <3

holding onto nothing by remrose -- [20/20, 71k] A mainly Techno pov fic, twinsduo centric. adhd and autistic techno, and his mom is a bitch. He goes to the Crafts for help and it's terribly sweet but also pretty angsty. At times this fic has literally been my lifeblood, like my support system in keeping me alive. I love it so much.

My Faithless Hoax by phantom_star739 -- [24/24, 105k] A supernatural? (fae, vampire, siren) crimeboys centric fic with mild political aspects. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's amazing.

U ever get where u like miss the things that were popular when u were younger, like yk gravity falls, ik its getting popular again but i remeber when i first watched it and looking up every little thing abt it.

Or when gacha life was rlly big, like yk glmm and glmv. Like i want that era back but i have to accept that i cant js make it appear out of nowhere and that that sucks but its life sadly.

It makes me miserable that ill never have that back but atleast i got to experience it yk. Creepypasta, gacha, animation memes, fnaf, sally face, fran bow, little miss fortune, gravity falls (the colours animatic actually changed my brain chemistry), ffs even dsmp, mcyts, anime, all of it. Sure it was cringey but it was fun and im glad i got to experience that at a point in my life. Ill always feel sick when i think abt it tho. Its js knowing ill never have any of it back.

Im scared to be cringey now, secondary school has actually ripped any sense of confidence out of me, i used to be loud and proud abt the things i liked and now ill never tell anyone except ppl im close with abt how i love theories abt all these shows and games. Everyone thinks everything is cringey but maybe its js ppl having fun, did no one think of that?

Genuinely i could write an entire essay on nostalgia of my own childhood, it was enjoyable and made me into who i am today. I dont want what others think of me to change that. Bc of the fear of being judged i wont start things i enjoy, like streaming, its purely bc im scared ppl in my school will find it. But most youtubers and streamers started at my age, so why should i let that stop me. It didnt stop them. Ill be happier, im seen as a weirdo as it is so why not purely embrace it. I am really interested and I think I missed a lore stream or two (I'm still tryna piece it all together)

tumblr FREAKING ATE MY DRAFT AGAIN IM SOOOOO PISSED OFF i should stop using the app for it to answer these.

But hehe yes i didnt think someone would actually outright ask me about las nevadas era cquackity but here we are. here is a extremely brief introduction to him/his motives. lmk if i should go more into detail on something specific/i missed a part that needs explaining.

first we need to establish WHY he even made las nevadas in the first place;;; which would be his need for power and more importantly a safe place for himself and the people closest to him. as you know in the manberg era he would be undermined, brushed off and stripped of his humanity/political power.

so, he recruits people (foolish sam charlie fundy purpled) by projecting his insecurities of being acknowledged and lack of power mentioned before, passing on the trauma and his pessimistic views on the world

lots of shit happens but here are the most important points that are from his pov specifically:

1- karl, losing his memory as a price for time travel, completely erases any good memories of quackity in his mind and basically destroys the chance of the three fiancees to get back together after quackity believing that they just didnt care for them. they made a nation without him while he built one for them all alone!

2- recruitment and loss of charlie. quackity as he does with everyone tries to project his pessimism onto other people, charlie being a PRIME example (his lessons for charlie) charlie always challenged quackitys beliefs whether he knew it or not. so even if it was working, charlie already knows much more than quackity from watching the server for years. for the first time in so long quackitys personal beliefs are being questioned, specifically for the first time after his spiral to a pessimistic and negative identity starting from pogtopia/manberg. quackity makes the “mistake” of trusting someone again, which led to the temporary downfall of his country (yes he reconstructed the country yes i refuse to believe it went down with the nuclear bomb as the whole dsmp finale the finale sucks freaking ass) . i think this might be a literal metaphor to charlie destroying and reconstructing his belief system but anyways. this is a core part of quackitys character development, but mind you we dont see it in a very direct sense and a lot of it is hypothetical.

3- cdreams prison escape. its self explanatory but it once again put his loved ones in danger. months of applying physical/psychological torture is an extremely violent show of his need of power over people/how he claims revenge from the “violence over words” thing he developped from his time as a vice president/presidential candidate. Q also loses a life indirectly from him too, being killed by charlie. pretty big stuff.

basically:

traumatized and pent up guy repeats history by constructing a country to build a safe haven for himself and his loved ones, to reaffirm status and confidence and to pass on his insecurities by projection. slime guy comes, he is forced to rethink what he believes in while trying to borderline manipulate him due to his naive nature. country is destroyed because history repeats itself 💣

My end of the year message to you all.

The year 2022 is coming to end. It's still crazy how fast this year went by, but every year is a new Era, and a new Era for this blog is going to begin.

I want to thank you, to everybody who's been supporting me. From when I was at my peaks, posting and writing like no tomorrow, and when I was my lowest and just wanted to end it all. You guys have been with me through it all, and I feel like I haven't done enough for you guys, to say thank you for everything.

I may be extremely apathetic and sometimes rude, but I'm extremely grateful for you guys. Listening to my vents, hearing me rant about the characters we all love and just being a community.

I hope the year 2023 will be be better than this year. Me posting for fics and my mental health to hopefully improve. I'm not good with words but, I just want to say thank you.

My main blog has been announced to be inactive a month or so ago. I remember me spending hours on that blog, talk to you guys so much to the point I reached max post for the day. I miss that, alot. I want to say especially thank you to the followers who were on my DSMP blog and the people who've went out of their way to go into my inbox and give me advice when I needed it, talking to me about my stories and just talking to me, and my mutuals. It's those people who help keep writing. The people who not only liked my post but commented and sent me stuff about it in my inbox reminds me that people actually read and care about my stuff.

I want this blog, the Creepypasta blog, to be just like my DSMP blog. I want this blog especially to be like the DSMP blog because I've noticed how inaccurate the writing for this community is. I want this blog to have it's peak, it's prime just like the DSMP blog did. Us activly talking and sharing ideas and just being a community, because this fandom needs something like this.

I'm calling this New Era, The Era Of The Bunny Mask. The Bunny Era will be the best one. The Era of 2021 was the Baby Buns era, when I barely knew about fanfiction. The 2022 era was the Era Of The Ghost, when I was at some of my lowest moments, and 2023 will be the era this blog was meant to be.

i don't know how long I'll have Tumblr, but I want cherish these moments.

I love all of you, even if I don't know you, I appreciate you guys so much. My writings had improved so much, and I just don't know what to say, I'M LOST FOR WORDS.

I'm known to disappear for periods of times, I'm known for threatening suicide when I'm just low, but I'm also known for you guys. With you guys, I wouldn't have the platform I have now. If nobody saw my work I would've stopped, but you guys saw it, you acknowledged me and gave me a platform to share my work, my problems, my weird ideas and my talents.

I miss the 2020-2021 DSMP/mcyt era and wish lore was never taken so seriously.

The lore was pushed so much the server became really hard to play casually, in fear you'd break an important structure or build in the wrong place. However, ending S1 with a 'reset' also deleted so much good stuff people made. The new S2 server has not been played since it was introduced, and I'm sorry to say this, but I think it'll be abandoned like OSMP.

In retrospect, George was right to not participate in the lore at all. It made everything tedious, and people who just worked on it once for fun were constantly expected to finish it. Fans on Twitter put each other in DNI lists because one defends a character the other doesn't like.

I miss the Jackbox parties. I miss Tommy building the ugliest cobblestone towers known to man with Tubbo and Dream. Someone just putting up a green screen and fucking around with it.

The truth is that nobody actually signed up to use the Dream SMP for a roleplay. People just wanted to play Minecraft.

🔥 dream smp lore

So I got into the lore during Tommy and Techno's team up. Racconinnit forever.

Btw I'm gonna miss some things in my breakdown but here we go:

L'manburg era: excellent, amazing, fun and angsty storytelling. Sure the whole thing was an amateurish Hamilton rp via Minecraft but it was new and interesting and happened at the high of lockdown while everyone with a knowledge of the craft needed something to watch.

Doomsday: amazing, more angsty storytelling and was poetically the end of an era both in the lore and in the world as lockdown restrictions were lifted around the same time. (Also the funniest shit to happen on a day when an actual government resurrection was happening)

Egg lore + Sam Bucket: AMAZING, beautifully tragic and well written. I remember making red icing for cookies the day of the Banquet. The entire cast had a lot of love for the story and I hope the dsmp2 happens so we can get Red Velvet as the Egg. (As an Empires watcher I still believe there's some connection with Xornoth but that's a personal headcanon)

Exile: some people made it darker than it was. Most of them trying to paint Dream as a pedo and a rapist because they probably secretly shipped the two. Those people can kindly fuck off.

Prison + Disk finale: that prison was scary. I distaste Redstone with a passion and Sam put his whole creepussy into it. Loved Techno just getting caught and vibing with Dream. Also knew it was staged before the reveal.

Revive/Death book: lost its grip in the end. Dream XD and Foolish carried obviously.

Ranboo: UNTAPPED POTENTIAL! I was a ranboo lorehead. Wanted some sort of Bill Cipher and Ford Pines kinda thing with him and Dream but spineless enderboy couldn't keep up with his fans wanting to cancel him for every interaction he had so he used scheduling as an excuse

Las Navadas: also amazing. Also interesting. Quackity was a tragic character of his own undoing.

TOTSMP: super cool and well done. Beauitful cinematics and funny one off characters. Came back only for one episode because they lost a major player. Willing to purchase it in comic form if that's what Karl is doing.

In general, the bigger arcs were the best bits of lore. It was the smaller stuff that got lost imo. If you couldn't keep up with the big plots you got lost in it.

All the characters and lore were unique and I truly loved and enjoyed the majority of the smp. Again it was the fans that ruined it not the ccs. Techno's death is the majority reason why the dsmp died imo. As was the end of lockdown and drantis. I am open to a dsmp2 with new characters (Sylvee, Velvet, Gumi, anyone who is friends with Dream and plays minecraft). But I doubt that will happen this year. Hope for next year though.
