Wait is this directly inspired by How to train Your Dragon?

Some aspects are- the beastiary, dragon armor, and some of the dragon designs. I took inspiration from dragon depictions in a lot of different media.

Games like Day of Dragons and Minecraft help me come up with characters and landscape ideas!

Watching RTGame Minecraft playthrough and Daniel's genuine fascination with vanilla experience made me reflect on how I view this game. It reminded me how I first discovered it decade ago, had the ultimate Minecraft experience of trying to figure stuff on my own (and miserably failing), then having a knowing friend behind my back teaching the basics™ and slowly getting on track from there. Surely, it's not a new game. And I feel like over the years, as I grew up, Minecraft-the-game slowly morphed into some hybrid virtual medium to hang out with friends for me. It became less of a world I get immersed in and more of an algorithm I'm really good at navigating and using its restrictions to my advantage. In a weird fashion, the only thing I can compare what modded Minecraft is to me is Hatsune Miku, an entity who functionally is an avatar with million faces and myriad stories for you to tell. In the same manner long ago modded Minecraft became a neutral base to create any game in (almost) any genre I felt like playing. It's a welcome development, but what I ultimately gave up in exchange is appreciation for simplicity of vanilla, and I became desensitized to it. Watching Daniel discover all these novelties with almost childlike wonder, I can't help but get nostalgic over how I used to see it, and how I never will be able to go back to it. That's so obvious, but so many decisions he makes I wouldn't, if I was playing. I'm probably one of those people who kept suggesting creating new world, until Daniel put effort in exploring it and discovering all those gorgeous places that I wouldn't. Seeing him roleplay and genuinely engage with the world surrounding him reminded me how decade ago I used to have a small house with a single dog on the edge of the cliff in the snowy taiga. I didn't really do anything to progress the game and was too scared to go into the caves to upgrade my tools to iron, so I tended to my little garden, fed my dog with chicken and wrote something in my only book and quill as a diary. It was all these same actions every single day, but I never felt bored. I felt isolated, but never lonely with my dog by my side, and as soon as sun had set, I was racing to my tiny hut, afraid of mobs, and my dog would feel really sad if one day I didn't return, after all. For some reason, decade later I remember everything to the tiniest detail. The layout of the house, the surrounding forest and what I wrote down back then. Since those times I had countless worlds and multiple projects, I used to speedrun Minecraft for fun and competition, but I remember so little about it all, a blurred memories of something that vaguely happened. But seeing Daniel build his tower, having beef with villagers stealing his sleeping spot, parting sea and for shits and giggles, spending two hours trying to draw a circle that functionally doesn't work for an assumption he lowkey gaslit himself into believing is true, filling out the maps of surrounding areas and looking for Bubblegum to lead home make me feel those exact feelings again. Maybe that's what it feels like to be the knowing friend sitting behind someone's back and teaching the ways of Minecraft. I never got to know what it feels like. After all, who hasn't played Minecraft nowadays?

But it isn't like she and her "group" can't drive me off the server—because I've long left it behind. And it was I who originally introduced them to "Minecraft" which I had made a realm and invited them alongside friends. However, when people were suggesting I made a server—I told them it would take me awhile to make one. Well—Niklos couldn't wait and took everyone off from my realm and invited them to 'their server' without inviting me which I had to third-party to get a invite because I didn't even know about it!

And many don't know the actually reason why I left Moon Guard—it was due to "Niklos Adamant" Guild Leader of the Remnants of Lordaeron and it wasn't due to the "Minecraft" incident. They are manipulative and most of this stems due to lack of communication from them and other people. The only person that really communicated to me about any complaints was the leader from the Residuum. Apparently "Niklos" had a problem with me for months but never communicated about it once despite our close proximity in-game and being friends in discord. They never contacted me to expression their complaints to me directly for "months" and when they did contact me about it—

Literally didn't communicated back with me for "months" via discord and accused me of "siccing" my friends after them. When I wasn't even online in-game for that and don't know the full context of what had happened. Just that I was doing a role-play that involved someone wanting to role-play with people from the Cathedral group and that wanted to be involved with my story. But something happened and it blew way out of proportion and was never given screenshots of what actually occurred from either party. But as you can see Niklos hadn't contacted me since December of 2021 and all the way until May of 2022 and /whisper communication in-game was non-existent.

And the screenshots in regards to the conversation that had with Hillsbradian below were originally shown to me by Niklos herself before I joined their discord back in 2019 when I had originally joined Moon Guard and was desperate for friends. I should have taken screenshots but I never thought anything like this could occur in the future with "drama"

Basically they whispered me this tinyurl link that they were "sad" that these screenshots were going around framing them in a bad way and that they were fake. And basically said something like this: "you know that isn't my discord profile picture and name" and I was dumb enough to believe them—because I didn't know better and was just desperate for a friend. However the conversation always hit me as fishy because—"you can change your profile picture and name" at any time!

I stumbled back on the screenshots here on tumblr and clearly other people seem to be aware of them and that they aren't "fake"

I've made even more people aware of them. For example: "Gnews" "Eveneah Rosewood" and some of the core officers and the leader for the "Residuum of Icecrown" are aware of the screenshots and if there is more evidence apparently this Maxen has them.

Including of Bishop "Tyragonfal" which the Residuum of Icecrown does have a document about them with evidence for why they are "blacklisted"

Tyragonfal also stalked my character from the Residuum of Icecrown various times until I had to join a voice chat for the "Midnight Repose" to tell them to stop parking themselves right nearby me in emote range. They would also metagame using their alt in the Residuum of Icecrown at the time called "Nightravens" and they are a 38+ female player who was sending inappropriate messages to the officers from the Residuum of Icecrown in a very "s*xuel matter" and seem to target young men for their "r*pe" kinks and even wrote an inappropriate fanfiction with them and another character without their consent. Eitherway "Midnight Repose" defends them and Niklos gave them a high role in their Remnant of Lordaeron discord.

Tonight, I'm gonna discuss one of my favorite songs from the Minecraft: Story Mode OST, "Redstone Baby," and the potential lore that it holds. And why that's very Sorengaard related.

Disclaimer: this is me interpreting silly block people. Unless otherwise stated (or in the game), it ain't actually canon. Also, I am a teenage girl. I am not versed very well in the specifics of how music theory works and how it's used in media. Also also, I wrote most of this like two months ago and completely forgot about it.

This song appears twice in the season 1 episode 3: when you arrive in Soren's lab area, and again in the end credits. It can also be heard through the closed secret entrance wall in the Wool World™, and it gradually becomes clearer as you approach the door to Soren's lab, where a music disc is playing the song inside.

The instrumentation of "Redstone Baby" consists of guitar, piano, and violin. It feels comforting and cozy, whilst also giving a sad, longing sort of vibe. According to a comment written 6 years ago by Antimo on the linked video, they were going for a sorta "Fallout: New Vegas" vibe when they wrote it. The song holds an air of nostalgia, of better times. An idealized dream of how the world could be.

To get to the point: it's cute, it's cozy, and it's a love song in a game where they weren't allowed to explicitly write any canon ships (if I'm remembering correctly). Also one of the few songs in this game to be given lyrics. So, of course, we're gonna talk about this. Or rather I'm gonna write about it and you're gonna read it.

The lyrics go as follows:

The lyrics are pretty strange, right? It seems nonsensical at first, but I (and many others) believe that it has more meaning than meets the eye.

This is a love song addressed to a someone proficient with redstone. Funnily enough, Soren's old friend group did have one of those. A brilliant Redstone Engineer: Ellegaard. And quite interestingly, these two were pretty close, as is said multiple times in canon. I think Magnus mentions their little "Nerd Club," in episode 3 at some point. Another fact to back me up on this: Soren calls the song "Symphony in E" in-game on the little radio-disk-program-thing.

And for whatever reason, Soren and Ellegaard didn't stay close or end up together. There's not really a way to know for certain what went down between them. All we do know is that Soren wishes it was different.

The "marshmallow world" that is talked about in the song is Soren's perfect world. It's safe, sweet, and fluffy. I am of the opinion that it could possibly be an indirect reference to the wool world that Soren built. It's bright. It's safe. No monsters can get him there. He can just build things and be happy. In a perfect, marshmallow world, Ellegaard is with Soren.

The metaphors Soren uses here, "the bed to my rock, the flint to my steel," they're both iconic, inseparable duos: bedrock, and flint and steel. In Minecraft, bedrock is the unbreakable foundation beneath all else in the Overworld. Flint and steel is used to set things on fire, and is most often used to light Nether portals, which is way less symbolic (unless someone can find something? maybe the whole flaming heart being a metaphor for love thing?) but still iconic and the phrase has a very nice rhythm to it.

When we first hear the song, it feels like normal wishful thinking. It's more just fluff and poetry than full-on wants and desires.

But when we hear it in the end credits of episode 3... We just saw someone die after sacrificing their safety for Jesse's. The monster that they died to help kill isn't even dead. Someone we thought was dead is actually alive and doesn't remember anything. It's loud, dark, and burning. A sickening storm of death and destruction. Anything but the marshmallow world.

Without considering which of the two died, this song is already quite jarring in comparison to what was just witnessed. This "marshmallow world" that seemed somewhat close just a moment ago now feels implausible, and thus it'd be worth so much more if it were real.

I will never not love when something in a piece of media is treated as a good sign or motif or something and then it gets recontextualized and hurts ya right in the feels.

And with Redstone Baby combined with Ellegaard dying, it's just that extra brutal.

Because now it's not just, "in a perfect world, we'd be together." It's "in a perfect world, you wouldn't be dead, and we'd be together."

If only Soren wasn't so much of a coward. How differently things could've gone.

For real, it’s so awesome to see your process and the sheer amount of inspiration you take! In particular, I thought ‘Sit on Two Chairs’ and ‘This Was Our Pact’ were particularly yummy. 

I think book covers are really hard. You have to sum up a book’s energy in one image, make it stand out and show just enough so people want more. Exploring the narrative through those full pages is really interesting - though this is something you did for fun, it could be a really useful technique for getting to know a narrative. When I’m designing my comic covers, I always do it last - that way I’ve had practice with the visual style and I’m thoroughly familiar with the themes, so I guess spending a bit of time with the characters and narrative in this way helps for standalone book covers too. Of course, it helps if you have the time for that XD

Okay!! Onto what I've been up to!!! [warning this is a beefy post I'm sorry for your poor reading brain]

The past two weeks have been really enjoyable! I’ve been playing a lot with slow world-building, in sketchbooks, google documents, and voice notes to friends. Letting myself really sit with concepts, think about the characters, let them play in my head with no expectations. With this relaxation and lack of pressure, some beautiful narratives and interactions have been developing. I’m starting to need a name for a world/ the story. I’m not quite ready to give them a full introduction to the internet - I know it doesn’t but it feels like there’s some accountability to *produce something* and this slow development is really important for the quality and my skill building. It’s really hard to take on, but we actually don’t have to make the perfect thing now! In fact, it’s impossible. Pressure on ourselves makes it so hard to make something good if we’re always grasping at the final result.  In the meantime, while those characters develop, I have been working hard on my basic skills. I wrote about characterization last post, but this week I focused on setting and colour. I was inspired (once again) by Hermitcraft. I’ve seen some really incredible illustrations of Minecraft builds in the fandom, and it seems like a great exercise.

One of the creators on Hermitcraft, ImpulseSV, created this build in a recent episode. It takes inspiration from the last season of Hermitcraft, where he was part of the ‘soup group’ with two other players, and his current base concept - a cyberpunk city.  I also LOVE his new character design, so I wanted to place him in the scene.

Here are some initial thumbnails I did, trying to figure out the composition. I wasn’t sure of the vibe yet, so I tried some rough thumbnailing, and drawing on an isometric grid and other perspective techniques. I’m going a bit mad for characters at the mo, so I wanted to place some in the scene. I found the angle of the isometric grid steep to place characters comfortably, so decided against that.

Looking back at it, I love the second! But I believe I was struggling with the perspective. I decided on the last one eventually.

Now, I absolutely adore all of the players in the Soup Group, and I am BIG fan of redesigning their notable characteristics to suit different settings. So yes, I decided to put all of the soup group in the image.

Here's the sketch of the final image. I really enjoyed coming up with cyberpunk versions of them all. I used the impulse design almost exactly, with a few extra interesting details since he's mostly viewed from the back. For PearlescentMoon (middle) I kept her fringe, dark hair and gave her a glowing moon symbol on her top. For GeminiTay, I kept her long ginger hair, antlers (but glowing!) and took inspiration from her new season 10 design - a dark blue jumpsuit to match her dark blue clothes in her new design, and the braids she is often drawn with. I also gave them edgy new hairstyles. And a robot arm. I don't have lore for that.

As usual, I filled each flat colour-to-be with black and lowered the opacity to play with the values. Then I added colours one at a time, aware might be riso printing it. Originally I stuck to trying to make it printable (making the colours out of ones I could make my layering 2-3 colours at different opacities), but as I went on, I decided to drop that and focus on the quality of the image in a digital format alone. I did keep the grayscale version above with all the separate layers in case I needed that if/when I came to riso printing it. Below are the main two digital colour schemes I tried out.

I settled on the one on the left, with the blue tones - the foreground characters really pop. I put a few details in Gem's hair, colour variations etc, and cropped it for Instagram. I actually much prefer the cropped version - it sits better in a rule of thirds.

RISO!!!!!!!!!!!

I returned to Cardiff after a couple of months away and was delighted to spend my first day back at The Printhaus, an awesome shared print studio where I have basically made my home. A few of my awesome friends happened to be there, so I spent the day playing around with this image with their help! (please check them out they're very cool - Gavin helped me a lot (we hung out at Thought Bubble, remember? and Rhi gave good crits too!!)

For those who don't know, risograph is basically a shitty photocopier that can only print one colour at a time. However, you can play with gradients and opacities, and layer colours really nicely to combine. I've done a lot of single-colour tonal work with riso but this is my first go really layering.

First, Gavin showed me how to separate the channels in Photoshop, using the flat image uploaded to the 'gram. We copied and pasted these layers in grayscale and added blending modes to each layer to replicate what they might look like when printed.

I copied and pasted the Cyan, Black and Magenta layers as greyscale (as you can see above)

I made all of the greyscale layers multiply layers since risograph ink is transparent and we wanted to see how it layers. The ink usually comes out a bit lighter than you think, so it's good to bear that in mind. I used a clipping mask over each greyscale layer and a blending mode. WHEN YOU PRINT, PRINT IN GREYSCALE, NOT COLOUR.

Here's how I split the colours from CMYK to the riso colours, their hex codes and the blending mode I used to replicate the colours:

Riso printed Mint and Florescent Pink layers on separate paper, followed by the two layered together.

We always start with the lighter colour inks first, because sometimes the rollers can pick up the ink and cause extra marks where you don't want them. The first two colours came out great!

The first time we printed the blue, it came out very dark (left, first image). I have had this issue before - my last book, Winter Wellbeing, came out much darker than I wanted. Now I realise that the blue ink is super sensitive. All the 'white space' that is covered by a low-opacity blue on the left is only 2%, and yet it has come out pretty strong. We tried printing it on one of the misaligned images just to see, but it took all of the brightness out of the neon soup sign at the top of the image (second image). So I changed the values and pushed them way lighter, so it just pushed the values of the darker bits slightly, and brightened some of the lineart (right, first image)

And this is the final riso printed version!! I'm so so happy with how this came out. It's so different from the original digital version, and I actually love that.

I didn't create new colours in the way that I intended to - I wanted to play with overlaying purposefully to create specific colours eg. orange for the hair etc. But!!! I'm really happy with how it came out. That will have to be a project for next time.

Also, many copies are slightly misaligned, so in future I think I'd do flat layers for the colours a more blobby style with the linework on one layer only so there's less of a chance for obvious misalignment. design for the riso, rather than riso the design.

Overall though, this feels like a super cool step up and a milestone for me. Super happy with how it came out!! And I'm excited to play with colour some more. Can't wait to see the rest of the Lionheart brothers! Enjoy your weekend :)))

originally, the guys (blue hair and white hair) were my personas/characters that i played back when i streamed but then i got distracted by wednesday and switched over to doing all this. Now they're my ocs! Meanwhile, the cloud personified? is my friend's

we've just been shipping the two together because its fine

Drai (blue hair) is a being who needs to kill to live. As in, he's sculk. If you know minecraft, there's this block in the later updates where if you kill a mob on it, it would grow from the xp absorbed. I took that idea and ran with it. So drai is iven sentience after absorbing what is essentially the 'life force' of the beings that died on him. Soon, he possesses a corpse and goes through life, adventuring and killing.

Until he stumbles across a stronghold and gets greeted by a god, Lati (the cloud), telling him to stay away from the portal and basically does their best to spook him. It doesn't work and they get to talking

they end up becoming roommates and catching feelings

except here's one unfortunate thing. Lati is a god, a god who has mentioned that they don't feel things the way people normally do and yknow, if you're a decent guy, you simply accept that it is what it is and move on. Drai tries to do so but unfortunately, his heart is too filled with their name and oh is it so hard to move on from a being so tied close to his soul.

Then he dies.

Its been a few lifetimes since then, maybe two? Since Drai has been seen around the smp Why? Well! Its because he's dead, kinda? Maybe? All you need to know is that he's gone, completely It was a tiny thing to note that Drai isn't human. He's sculk possessing a dead body after all, his conciousness a miraculous byproduct of absorbing too xp/life force of people from before. He's used to fighting, to absorbing more life during his troubles until he settled down in season 1. Except he never realized that it was xp keeping him alive and when he finally hung up the blade once in for all, he would take on the mantle of dead man walking too literally once more. Lati doesn't feel in a way people do, there is no indignant anger at the realization that they were losing Drai. Simply acceptance because isn't that what life is? For a concept, the laws of reality has always been something they've been intimately aware off but there's something that tingles in their chest as they stare at their dying … companion. Drai smiles alot. All crinkled corners at his eyes and teeth bared. Its a comforting sight, a routine for Lati to always see whenever they pass by the other in the dungeon hallways. There's an ache at the thought that there will be a time where they will see that smile for last time. They simple didn't realize it was that soon. Clearly, Drai didn't realize it either and when he did, it was far too late. (Lati didn't realize time passed that quickly, not till Drai stumbles like a puppet with no strings. A sack of potatoes dropping and hitting the floor in a sound that echoes around their head) Curse him, Lati thinks as she stares at the boy. He was practically a new born fawn with the way he stumbles upright, clinging onto the wall with a hand as his mortal mind finally dawns with reality.

"I think im dying," he says, a tremble in his voice as the revelation settles. "But- its okay," he tries to reassure, before his lips pull into that same stupid smile as if they were the one about to knock on death's door. "I always come back." He isn't wrong, Lati thinks. His origin as a parasite allows him some form of faux immortality but like all things fake, it could never hold up to the real thing. (But what if it could?) The thought is dangerous. Rules are made for a reason, to imply going against them…. Lati can't smile, they could never do it right and Drai laughs about it whenever it happens. It doesn't mean they can't try, it is only fair, no? To give the reassurance that Drai has always given them. This body's eyes squints, doing its best to do what Drai could do best and smile. They shake their head as their lips speak of a truth so bitter that it practically chokes at their throat. "Not this time." And yet, it leaves their mouth with an ease of someone that doesn't know how to feel. A calm sentence with no waver, no humanity, as if her friend wasn't going to leave soon, as if Lati didn't care. But, Lati doesn't feel. They never could so what was… As the day ends and the moon peeks overhead, the dungeons for once in forever is empty and Lati is given a realization. The emerald binding the two of them together glows on their chest, shimmering with an enchantment. Drai didn't know the significance of such a thing, atleast not the true extent. but Lati looks different and she looks pissed after Cain ransacked their room for armor. Sure, they get confused for a moment, wondering why Drai looked so different but he's ..larger now. The scars a bit too worse and skin too pale compared to how it was before and it clicks that Cain isn't Drai's reincarnation but rather, an intruder.

Writer Interview Game

Thank you for the tag @moongurl95 ! Apologies for taking so long😅. I had to think on this one a bit and have been quite busy.

When did you start writing?

For me, it was in middle school. I am also an only child, so I think it really started as an outlet for creativity. I started with some creative writing in school, but quickly moved to fanfiction. Some of my first pieces were based on How to Train Your Dragon. I also wrote quite a bit based on Minecraft Diaries (A youtube series not many people know about). I haunted Quotev for quite a few years, doing quite a bit of roleplay too.

Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?

I second you on the smut! I cannot, for my life, figure out how not to make it awkward. Also, I really like reading stories with happier themes. While I've tried to write happier ones, I always find myself slipping back to stories with darker undertones.

Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?

Not really! I do feel as if a lot of my friends (especially the ones I knew on Quotev) write a lot better than me and I really admire that. That being said, some of my favorite authors include Robin Sloan and Christelle Dabos.

Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?

It's quite mixed. I write on my laptop, but I switch between my desk, my bed, and coffee shops. I'm really thankful to have quite a few coffee shops walking distance from my apartment that are open late at night. I love going there when they're not busy. If I'm taking my writing very seriously, I typically have a candle lit and Hogwarts Legacy Ambience or a vinyl playing.

What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?

For me music! I pull a lot of ideas from some of my favorite artists, including Taylor Swift, Adam Young, Phoebe Bridgers, Noah Kahan, Vampire Weekend, etc.

I also find myself focusing on topics related to my own experiences a lot. I originally was drawn to start writing about Hogwarts Legacy because of the solace I found with Anne and Sebastian's care for her.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?

Maybe this is more in my drafts than what I post, but depression, longing, unconditional love, and anxiety are topics I find myself focusing on a lot. They don't necessarily surprise me, as I feel as if I've always been drawn to them.

What is your reason for writing?

It's a creative outlet for me. I work in a very scientific environment, but I've always been interested in literature and philosophy. Since graduating college and loosing some of my more artistic and creative hobbies, writing has been a great way to still flex those muscles.

Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?

Literally any comments! @meeting-the-master always hypes me up when I send her drafts and I greatly appreciate it.

How do you want to be thought about by your readers?

I haven't really thought about it. I suppose I just want people to enjoy my writing. I hope it brings some people joy.

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

This is hard. I feel like I come up with a lot of plot ideas. My draft list is miles long. The issue is actually completely them (oops)

How do you feel about your own writing?

Honestly, I often get self-conscious about it. I feel like I take too long to put out multiple parts and that my writing isn't good quality. I continue to write though because I believe that like any hobby, it requires practice.

Wilbur, the person he’s a ghost of was not a great person before he died. But Ghostbur is nothing but kind, if not a little naïve to everyone and everything. This all leads up Ghostbur getting murdered trying to help his little brother figure, and Wilbur being revived. This means Ghostbur gets trapped alone in limbo. Ghostbur’s story could have left off there but NOOOOOO his creator decided to make it worse. Water burns Ghostbur, so crying is painful. He has memory problems and with nothing to write on he only has the haziest memories of his family left. He’s stuck in limbo for decades before something happens. Meanwhile back in the overworld Wilbur’s been having a pissing contest with his ex and realizes “Huh, a lot of people liked this Ghostbur guy and I know where he ended up. Maybe I should do something nice for him.” And sends Ghostbur’s beloved pet sheep, Friend to hell to be with Ghostbur. The last we ever see of Ghostbur is he, for once in a very long time crying tears of joy as he is reunited with his Friend."

so the year is 2020, it is the summer before 8th grade, covid is still spreading across the globe, and i am at home watching YouTube.

this entire community hates theodd1sout reads the title of a YouTube video, a 5-10 minute long video giving contex to the title, you may not know this about me, but i used to love animated story time youtubers, i wanted to be one when i was 11, anyway i watched the entire thing and was absolutely flabbergasted that anyone could possibly hate James, i immediately began hating reality shifters (silently, i never posted anything negative about them)

fast forward a couple months, school is back and my friend (A, for story purposes) has conscripted the help of 2 of our friends (will be called H and J for story purposes) i tagged along because i wanted to learn the dark hair dye arts, everything is going good, there is a purple mess awaiting As mom when she gets home (typical splat hairdye behavior ) anyway she wanted it very vivid so we sat and let A's dye soak in, when her, H, and J began talking about reality shifting.

Oh. my. god. my friends, one of which i had known for years prior, the one who told me covid shut down our school, who played minecraft with me into the morning hours as we infodumped to each other, who cheered with me virtually when trump came down with covid. my nearest and dearest friend. a reality shifter. i had no idea what to think, my friend A was very into it, so maybe it wasn't that bad.

i began to ask questions. what is it? how does it happen? what will my clone do? how crazy can time ratios be? they were all answered. that night i wrote a script for a minecraft DR, i laid in bed with my headphones on and imagined the grass beneath my hands and the blocky landscape. i was finally free from my self inflicted chains.

I think about you a lot. 

But the things that come to mind are mostly about the video games you used to play with me.

You adored the giant mushrooms in minecraft. We explored far lands and deep caves together. You always killed the mobs for me because I was scared of dying even though we had Keep Inventory on. We would have long strip mining sessions and talk about how we were doing. Tell jokes and stories from our lives or just quietly enjoy each other's company. You always got so excited to see any of the in-game critters. You would have loved the cherry blossoms they added.

You always picked dark green in Among Us but always changed your hat for silly situations. Once you thought I was smart for going back and killing you while you were behind the Admin table, but I was just panicking. We laughed about it in the lobby after I lost. I tried looking for screenshots but I think they got lost. But we'd always run around the boxes while we waited.

You loved to wear the cute outfits in Animal Crossing. I gave you the pretty umbrella and it became your favorite item. We gathered on my island like it was a party to catch shooting stars and spin our umbrellas in unison in between the showers. I remember you lighting up like the sun when you got the New Horizons themed Switch for a really good price because it was in a small local game shop everyone overlooked. 

You enjoyed playing Grounded in early access. Telling me how decorating your base was your favorite part even though you couldn't sit in the little grassblade chairs. There's been a major update with story and more items added. It's also multiplayer now... 

I would give almost anything in the world to be able to play with you again, Gydeon.

I think about you a lot.

You were deeply protective and loved your friends with your whole chest every day. Even when it was damaging to you.

We would talk privately outside the server we met in. Saying how so many of them were in the wrong for so much of the drama they caused and that what they were doing was not okay. But they were our friends. We held each other's hands while walking on eggshells together. Trying to settle their emotions and each other's when we had nothing left to give. 

I still remember your bright laugh. I remember your sleepy mumbles not wanting to leave the group call when it got late in your timezone. I remember you being bored out of your mind while you waited in your dad's car. I remember you getting furious over the actions of someone and losing your cool. I remember you being so excited when you figured out and came out as Pansexual. You decorated all your avatars with Pan flag stickers and were so giddy to find out that part of yourself. I remember you joking about your depression. I remember you being down low and I remember how we would go online and play together to escape for a while.

I think about you a lot. 

Finger snapping has become a stim for me because you taught me that the sound comes from when your finger thumps against your palm. 

Whenever I need to feel brave I think about you standing up for what was right even though you got backlash for it. 

You had so much courage and pride but the thing you inspired in me most was to choose kindness above all else. No matter what. Its easy to be rude and angry and violent. It takes a strong spine and head to be able to let petty shit go and to choose to remain soft and gentle in spite of everything.

I think about you a lot. 

Its been 3 years and I still hold some guilt in my heart for what happened. I don't think it will ever go away and I almost don't want it to, but I've worked hard to make it bearable. Your memory still weighs heavily in my chest when I think about you, but it's more like a comfortable weighted blanket rather than an unrelenting mountain trying to swallow me whole.

You were an incredible young man and I'm one of the luckiest people in the world to say I was able to meet you. Even if the time spent with you was far, far too short. 

You were funny. You were smart. You were the kindest, sweetest person I have ever had the honor to get to know.

what was the first fandom you ever got into, and how??

Ohh okay this is a longggg story. Also an embarrassing story.

Story time!!!

Soo my first fandom was an rpf fandom of some taiwanese youtubers who play games(mostly minecraft) atp i think going into an rpf fandom is some sort of canon event for teenagers(yes i was a teenager) their videos were recommended to me cuz i watched a lot of taiwanese youtuber content back then(now i’m more of a mix between that and english videos) i watched their videos for a long time before i was smart enough to go on instagram(my only social media back then) and search their names in tags. and what do i find?

Fics. A bunch of rpf fics of those youtubers. Ranging from angst to fluff to you know what.

And that was how i became a fanfic writer

I met a few people back then and there’s this trend in chinese fandoms where you can call some of your close friends sisters or brothers. So i had people i called sisters(there weren’t many boys so yeah) i also had a master(NOT THE WEIRD KIND) i google translated this but the original chinese word means someone who is more skillful than you and acts as an inspiration/guide/teacher to you. that sort of thing.

I wrote some fics, mostly fluff, sometimes the unspeakable(i’m ashamed and i don’t do that anymore) and that went on for a year before i got into other stuff and kind of forgot that account.

So a year ago(like december 2023) that fandom broke down because there was stuff happening between the youtubers and all that. Long story short there were arguments, the group broke down, someone was cheating? So yeah the group broke down and obviously the ships had to go away. I still think about those ships sometimes. In a reminiscent way. There were some ongoing bits that created the ships and now that the original group of youtubers kind of went their own way, i’m really sad because i’ll never see their interactions anymore

Yeah so basically something akin to an adult version of a friend group not working out happened.

So yeah that’s my first fandom. I still did rpf for a while(there are still some fics i never posted because i felt weird about them. but i like the idea too much to delete them) i had the best ideas back then though. also i love the amazing world of gumball so fucking much. i wasn’t allowed to watch cartoon network as a kid (idk why??) so i first watched tawog last year and holy shit holy shit it’s my favorite thing ever. rob. ROB!!!! ROB IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTER. SO IS MR SMALL. AHHHH!!!! anyway i love tawog i’ve drawn a lot of fanart and even wrote a 60k word fanfiction (about what happens after The Inquisition because that ending fucked me up) that i’ve Never and will probably never show anyone because it’s probably Not that good. but it was sooo Important to me back then. tawog just means so much to me it :))) it changed me as a person. nobody’s a nobody and everybody is weird like you and me.

i also really like hollow knight! i haven’t played it in a while but i was at 111% completion on one of my playthroughs (CURSE YOU PANTHEON 4). i’m also super fucking excited for silksong obviously and i will say this now: WHEN SILKSONG FINALLY RELEASES… i will probably go on hiatus here LMAO. sorry but guys. SILKSONG…. honestly same for new deltarune chapters. the second chapters 3, 4, and 5 release it is sooo over for me. i probably won’t post much here for a few months during that. but that’s fine!! i’ll never abandon tllr but sometimes some things are more important to my silly little brain :3

gravity falls quite literally changed my life in 2018. like i can’t even explain it, but it’s how i was introduced to online fandoms and fanart in general. dipper LITERALLY made me trans (not literally but pretty much). it’s how i started watching other amazing cartoons and series i love, it’s literally what made me get into drawing art and writing and stuff. it’s what made me start making ocs. it literally made me an artist guys. which is how i started writing. without gravity falls and it’s effect it had on me, this account might have never existed?? i’m being super dramatic but wowww. i was so autistic about that silly cartoon

To end off the year, what are the top five influences for your book and how have they shaped you as a person? 🤩

the biggest influence for this story would have to be D&D. I had really gotten into playing it last summer, which was when I started thinking about this story, so you can really feel the influence in some parts haha (especially the magic system lol...). this whole story began with me creating an encounter featuring Endra, actually (with a stat block and everything lol), and I got so obsessed with the idea that I. made a whole story about it LOL. I would say D&D has... introduced me to a bunch of cool people, and everyone you meet, I think, shapes you a little as a person, so there's that haha. but also it made me think more about expansive worldbuilding, and thus appreciate it more as well. IDK I feel like it just made me love fantasy in general all the more:D

the second influence would have to beeee minecraft/dreamSMP. both, really, in their own ways. minecraft more on the lore aspect and magic system, weirdly enough??, and dsmp in the, hm, complexity of character relationships, I'd say? nothing specific, but more so the vibe. and my story is all about complex character relationships, so!! I also wrote quite a few fanfics for it, and that really helped with my confidence in writing, I'd say. I hadn't before had such a supportive audience, and they're very much to blame for my decision to actually take this Seriously haha. by that alone I'd say this shaped me most as a person/writer :v

thennn third influence, my jobs?? it just so happened that I was surrounded by pathology when I began this story, and I just sort of? gravitated to it as a central story point?? kinda wild, now that I think about it lmao. but yeah, idk, I feel like this job that I have made me mature a little more x)

ahmm fourth influence, maybe arcane? more of a subconscious one, though, as only when a friend pointed out some similarities did I go 'oh yeahhh' lmao. I did very much enjoy arcane, and although I watched it a good while before I'd started this story, some stuff must have stuck with me subconsciously haha

as for the fifth one...also more of a subconscious one, but Mo Dao Zu Shi. starting a story with necromancy is just an S tier story hook, in my opinion, so I did kinda yoink the idea from here haha, although, again, I hadn't done so intentionally lol. I also really liked the dual timelines and definitely wanted to write something with such a structure. this story sort of introduced me to modern Chinese fantasy, and I really gotta read more of it ahhhh, but yeah, always nice to broaden your literary horizons:D

i'm so fucking glad my hyperfix disappeared bc i can't imagine being as obsessed as i was while this whole thing goes down. i truly wonder how long it'll take for the die hard stans remaining to finally leave the fandom bc the content they make (if any) it's not fucking worth whatever the fandom has to deal with daily

i have a REALLY bad gut feeling about dream's video proof and i think that the video could be his actual downfall similar to james charles, colleen and others that have been cancelled for stuff similar to dream's situation (NOT comparing what they did to what dream did, just saying that there IS a similarity, which is someone in power talking to one or more underage fan).

cause what is dream even gonna show as proof? he can't show the logs. he definitely sent her pics and it wont say what the pic was, so it's just his words against hers. if he hadn't sent any pics or videos we would have seen these logs a year ago, its no wonder he sat on them for so long. and if he doesn't show the logs? he's fucked too. cause people will say he's hiding something.

also making a video about this on youtube is such a recipe for disaster because i bet all the react andys who already hate him will jump on the occasion to talk about it and destroy his "proof". i was just watching ethan from h3 talking about james charles and although james' stuff is considered worse bc he talked to even younger guys, i could easily see ethan cover the story in a very bad light for dream.

anyway this isn't really related to your ask but i feel like something bad is brewing. i feel like more fans are gonna leave when the video gets posted and it inevitably gets received horribly and gets destroyed by a ton of people.

the only thing that could potentially save dream rn is deleting all his twitter accounts, his tiktok account and just posting minecraft content for a solid year or two until this story gets buried for good. but these accusations will never leave him properly, and it's definitely affecting his closest friends too, george and sapnap also lost fans this year (big part due to their inactivity and focusing on shit that we dont want, but the allegations played a big role too)
