Aight, I’m invested I guess. Here’s my Far Fetched Probably Inaccurate More Speculation Than A Theory theory for Wish: Magnifico isn’t completely human or a shooting star like the Star we see — he’s either a manifestation of a wish Amaya made or Amaya once used a wish to save his life
Magnifico specifically says “it’s genetic, I got these genes from outer space!” about himself, which is very specific wording — either he’s completely from space, or magic from space warped his genes. He also has a magic book and I can’t think of a reason he would if magic is innate to his very being, down to a genetic level — maybe it belongs to his Not Innately Magic wife?
Amaya is a unique character in Disney canon in that she’s the Major Big Bad’s spouse — most classic Disney villains in their major animated movies are single or widows, while Amaya is very much alive and well. So she must be important, otherwise what’s the point of her character? Marketing also had super downplayed her, which tells me she has a major role in the story that they don’t want to give away
Amaya’s few lines in the trailer focus on Magnifico (surprise surprise, they have two minutes tops to market this thing and a focus on the hero and villain takes priority over showing rounded out characterization). Still, she seems big on praising him in a similar way he praises himself — calling him handsome and seeming impressed at what she thinks is his work. Yes, there’s being a supportive significant other, but there’s a strange vibe to her words, like she has a personal investment in his achievements beyond just being married to him. I also saw her giving Magnifico concerned/protective looks, like she’s specifically worried about his well-being. Idk I feel like someone finding a shooting star and not sharing it isn’t necessarily worth giving “who’s messing with my hubby” death glares — maybe she’s worried about this shooting star undoing the wish she used for him
She’s noted to be his sounding board/the person who keeps him in line in marketing, so she must know what he’s up to and helping him hide it from the people of Rosas
Magnifico is cocky and self obsessed, but I get the impression that this isn’t the reason he grants so few wishes. He gets super serious and even solemn when talking to Asha about it. He’s kinda a dick where his kingdom is concerned, but he takes wishes seriously. He genuinely doesn’t seem to be holding back granting wishes out of selfishness, because he does grant quite a few — fourteen in a year might be just a drop in the ocean, but that’s still a solid amount. Imagine fourteen people going viral during an internet challenge, or fourteen people on an organ registry getting transplants, or fourteen people getting their degrees, etc, etc. That’s genuinely not a nothing amount of people! Maybe being alive due to wish magic gives him a different perspective on it and what he deems necessary vs unnecessary (and whether or not he’s a hypocrite would make for a compelling character dimension)
Listen this isn’t “evidence,” I just want Amaya to have autonomy in this story, and the only other ways are if she’s a Plot Twist Villain working with/above Magnifico (badass, but I’m pretty sure this was specifically scrapped by the writers early on in the process) or if she hits him with a stack of divorce papers (iconic behavior, but imagine a theater full of five year olds with complicated family dynamics watching this — I don’t see them celebrating with the characters on screen like they might’ve when, say, Anna decked Hans in the face). Her specifically being the reason Magnifico exists and the complicated feelings all around that would result from this are amazing to imagine, plus it can go with both Good!Amaya or Evil!Amaya
Idk maybe Amaya had a cross between Aladdin and Encanto moment — she consciously or unconsciously wished for a handsome king to save her from whatever and since a king needs a kingdom Rosas was created. Or Amaya stumbled across a dying boy who wanted to create his own kingdom and made a wish for him to survive, with that wish giving him powers in the process

Sonic Quilford AU Custom "Arcs" 2
Yes, I have more ideas! Including one I'm going to retcon in to previous actions! Yay!
(In between Metal Virus and Belle, but like, right after the final fight in Metal Virus) Rush Return: After ridding his world of the Metal Virus with help from Silver, the Warp Topaz backfired and sent the tired 17yo to the Elemental Dimension, stranding Sonic there. Thus, Sonic and Blaze have to figure someway to get him home before Robotnik tries anything. All the while, everyone in the Chaos dimension is scrambling and a certain purple-wearing warlock is stirring up trouble in the background. How is everyone else handling the information that Sonic's fallen into Blaze's dimension? Why won't the Elemental Citrines send Sonic back this time? Just what did the Chaos Emeralds do?
You know it, I know it, Sonic's visit to Blaze's dimension at the end of the Metal Virus arc is... Troublesome. The amnesia thing didn't even go anywhere! It was just "Hi Mr. Needlemouse. Bye Sonic". Better can be done. Thus, it gets its own arc! Sonic and Blaze have a great dynamic, and Egglock/Clay Melongenik isn't anything to sneeze at either, even if that's just from tertiary decisions in relation to musical song parodies in my head and fully making Eggman Nega Silver's nemesis.
(Time Jump Fair after Story Whirlwind) Clans of Chaos: After Espio agrees to a request from his mother to come home, Eggman strikes with a new set of hired mercenaries, including a few who look awful similar to the Chaotix's resident ninja. Just how close is Espio to this new group of enemies? How has a regular Eggman plot gotten G.U.N. involved? And what did Mrs. Matofore mean by "new governor"?
Since Espio's a trained ninja with family, I figured it'd be a disservice in hiding them from the audience. So, we get an arc about them! This has a few scenes I really can't decide how I want to portray them, because I see them so vibrantly in my head. Especially a very climactic fight near the climax.
(Time Jump Far after Clans of Chaos) A Rose Built With Any Other Scrap: After a fraught night of bedtime stories, muddled directives, and inventing, Metal Sonic now has a partner to keep him in line, due to him slowly wriggling out of his obedience programing. All the while, the Egg Carrier's return to the shores of Station Square brings Sonic back, so the Scrapniks have a friendly face to greet them. How will Metal feel about Mecha? Who is Metal's new restraining bolt? And with it being her home, just who will drag Amy Rose into this?
Considering how Metal can be, I don't think Robotnik just, programming him to obey his every command and not rebel is going to work forever. Case in point, Gamma. Ergo, combining with what I decide are canon ships for the AU, a Metal Amy. Of course, someone prefers the original and won't accept a replacement. Also, the Scrapniks! They weren't in my original idea for this arc, but I figured with the name that it would make sense to let them show up.*
(Sidenote, but Mecha looks wonderful in brown.)*
(Time Jump Far after Sonic's 19th Birthday) Sonic and the Apotosian Dream: After getting invited to see Amy in a play along with Tails and Team Chaotix, Sonic ends up getting dragged off the Fae's Domain in Apotos. What with Theseus' tumultuous wedding-to-be with Hippolyta, Oberon and Titania fighting, and the two couples getting lost in the woods, Sonic's going to have much more on his hands than a lost ticket or two!
Custom Storybook game, baby! As for what's being adapted, why none other than Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream"! As per usual, there's doppelgangers, a way you could say the story never happened, and missions, missions, missions! I'm still working on the outline, but I'll probably talk about this more in the future.
(Time Jump Fair after SatAd) Curiosity of Ages: As time marches on, a certain egg-shaped doctor begins wondering just where in his past he went wrong, and realizing he'll soon be 52, inspiration strikes him. Thanks to the Egg Chicken, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Rouge, Vector, Charmy, Mighty, and Ray all end up with their ages swapped around. With Tails, Cream, and Charmy now being the oldest of the group, problems arise further. Can the adults and teen keep their cool now that they've returned to their youths? Can the three kids handle the responsibility of being the front line?
Considering all the ages of the Sonic cast, this kinda feels like it was coming for a while. If I could pick any of my concepts to send to SEGA to be made canon, it would be this idea. Having the youngest members of the cast suddenly being the oldest would be fascinating, along with its flipside. Add a flashback or two... The regular.
(Time Jump Fair after Curiosity of Ages) Scrambled Stories Over Easy: After learning of the events surrounding Starline's death last January, Robotnik nabs the three books emanating with World Energy, leading to encounters of the selves, so it seems. Time seems ready to run out as Sonic has to get everyone back where they belong. Will the crossing of worlds confuse literally everyone? How many people will get called the wrong thing by Sonic? Just how long do they have before everyone gets reamed?
I am forever convinced that the Storybook games are real, and actually happened. Sonic does know a genie, is King Arthur's counterpart(as in this AU, there is a REAL Arthur Pennquilon), and did end up with unwanted romantic affections from the Queen of the Faeries(Sonic's role in SatAD is, loosely, Bottom's). As such, we can get 4 Tails(Miles, Ali Baba, Smithy, and Cobweb) in the same room! What more can you want?

Danny Phantom Rewrites - Episode 1: Mystery Meat
Like most kids, I watched Danny Phantom growing up. It was - and still is - one of my favorite cartoons.
That said, the show had many, many flaws, both character and plot-wise.
So I decided to come up with some hypothetical changes that may have made the show better. Call it an AU of sorts.
So without further ado, here are some changes to the first episode, Mystery Meat.
1. The parents. Writers really seem to love the "parents who are oblivious/ignorant to the point of being neglectful and abusive" trope, don't they? Well, we're scrapping that. In this version of the show, Jack and Maddie Fenton behave like actual parents, taking an interest in their kids lives outside of ghosts and acting like responsible adults, or at least more responsible than the canon Fentons. They're also less gung-ho and trigger happy, being more focused on paranormal research and data collecting than actual ghost-hunting.
Also, they know about Danny being half-ghost from the start. The B-plot focuses on them trying to find a cure from their son's "ailment", only to run into roadblocks, as any solution they come up with is likely to hurt Danny, or make things worse.
In the show, the ramifications of Danny being half-ghost are glossed over for the most part. Here, it's part of the plot - their son is a walking Schrödinger's cat, half-dead, half alive. (And yes, in the rewrite it is acknowledged that the ghosts in the show, at least the majority of them, were once humans that had died, and are not, in fact, alien creatures from an alternate dimension) And intentionally or not, it was their invention that made him this way.
This leaves them conflicted - on the one hand, the portal is now active. They now have access to the Ghost Zone, and the chance to study and learn more about the paranormal and how it affects the world around them. On the other hand, it came at the cost of their son getting hurt, and it's likely that they'd be putting their family in more danger if they leave the portal on. This actually makes them consider giving up paranormal research altogether, something that Jazz vocally encourages.
At the end of the episode, they decide that the portal is too dangerous, and have it shut down (for now). Of course, this doesn't stop all the ghosts that are suddenly showing up in Amity Park. After all, theirs is not the only ghost portal in existence, is it? But that's for another episode...
2. The main plot. Look, there's no nice way of saying this -canon!Sam is a bitch. A holier-than-thou, hypocritical, unlikeable bitch. Rewrite! Sam has most of canon!Sam's traits, only significantly toned down. Her stances and beliefs are more nuanced, and when she tries to make changes, she does so in ways that she genuinely thinks will be beneficial, and not just have her be edgy for the sake of being edgy.
As such, the rewrite has Sam prepare an actual vegetarian/vegan menu, and not just have the students eat grass. There are some objectors, like Tucker and Dash, but for the most part, no one really has a problem with it. Danny even tries a veggie burger and says it's delicious.
The rewrite then follows the canon episode's plot - Danny senses the Lunch Lady, Dash comes over and starts his shit, Danny starts a food fight as a distraction to get away, he confronts the Lunch Lady.
However, this is where things differ a bit.
When the Lunch Lady asks, "Did someone change the menu?", instead of saying Sam did it, Danny (backed up by Sam and Tucker) makes up a lie that they got a memo about the freezer being broken and that all the meat was spoiled, hence the change in menu. LL inspects the freezer, which is in working condition, and has plenty of meat inside. Suspicious, she goes to investigate. Realizing that they just threw the faculty and staff under the bus, Danny goes ghost and chases after her.
They end up in the teacher's lounge, where the staff are having their meat buffet. LL is furious. Not only did they change her menu, but these adults are apparently also stealing food from children and lying to them about it! Well, if it's meat they want, it's meat they'll get! She changes into a meat monster, and a fight ensues.
3. Dash and Lancer. Are you tired of teachers in media willingly turning a blind eye to bullies' BS?! So am I! So when Lancer gives Danny and his friends detention for starting the food fight, he gives Dash detention, too, as there were multiple eyewitnesses who saw Dash assaulting Danny beforehand. Dash objects, of course, but Lancer puts his foot down and says that Dash will serve detention, or he'll lose his spot on the football team. So, yeah! Dash actually suffers the consequences of his actions! Yay!
4. The Lunch Lady. I actually like her as a villain, and I wish she was utilized more, as a character if not as a main antagonist. That said, the rewrite has her personality changed slightly - instead of exploding in anger, she mostly maintains her sugary sweet tone, albeit with an undercut of malice. She only really gets angry when she thinks the adults stole the meat. With the kids however, she speaks sweetly and gently, almost grandmotherly, even when fighting Danny.
Like other ghosts in the series, however, the Lunch Lady has a one-track mind - her menu has been changed, and she needs to fix it. Then it's, "the school staff is starving the students, they need to pay!" She dismisses Danny's attempts to reason with her. When the Fentons show up to confront the ghost, she easily swats them away. Even when Sam confesses that it was her that changed the menu, she just pats her head and says "oh sweetie, you don't need to lie for them." Remember that Danny at this point in the series is still struggling with his powers, so she doesn't really take him seriously. It's only near the end of the episode does she go all out against him, and he barely manages to hold his own until he gets his hands on the Fenton thermos.
Aaaaaand that's it! That my rewrite of Danny Phantom Season 1 Episode 1 "Mystery Meat"! Let me know what you think!

thoughts on stranger things 4
okay so I finally finished those marathon final two episodes and I have a lot of thoughts on the series as a whole. I’ll be spoiling everything so consider this a warning
on the whole, i still think this is the best season since the first one, even if these last two episodes had a lot of shit that annoyed me. something I do really appreicate is that the end of this season doesn’t just reset things back to the same cutesy basics. season 5 is the final one and the end of this season feels like it’s actually gearing up for the climax, which is good
I said after volume one of season 4 that hopper being alive wasn’t justified, and I still believe that now. the hopper subplot added nothing to this season. I did have a vague hope that the russia storyline would tie into the main one, but it didn’t - or at least, not well enough to make it worthwhile. they introduced the whole ‘killing the russian demogorgons to weaken vecna’ shit really late on, and I honestly don’t think it tracks with the canon from previous seasons. yes, everything in the Upside Down is part of a hive mind, but it’s never been the case that killing one demogorgon harms the others. it seemed to have a top-down effect, wherein hurting the mind flayer hurt all the underlings it was controlling - it was never the case that hurting demodogs and demogorgons hurt the mind flayer. so it just felt like an asspull to try and give the russian storyline more weight. it didn’t work. this season was already crammed to the brim with unnecessary characters and I honestly believe they could’ve scrapped the russia plot without changing the main beats of the season at all
I am so fucking pissed about how they treated will this season. will’s character has more potential than most of the cast, but they continually shaft him and push him into the background. I hoped this season would actually address his sexuality, and I guess it did, sort of. but it did it in the most cumbersome, graceless way possible. will all but comes out to mike in 4x08, talking about he feels different and like a mistake, and they use his emotional outburst to hype up the relationship between mike and el. i can’t even put into words how shitty that is. i was dreading will confessing love to mike and being relegated to Sad Gay With A Crush On Het Friend Jail, but this was somehow even worse than that. will’s feelings never get enough space in the narrative as it is. the fact that they used them to prop up a het relationship makes me want to snort glass
the missed potential is unreal to me. you have a character who was dragged into a supernatural dimension at a young age, and this trauma is something that he cannot talk about because nobody can understand what he went through. he feels like an anomaly and a freak. the closeted metaphor literally writes itself and the fact that the duffer brothers have never used will’s supernatural trauma to explore his personal trauma around his sexuality is utterly baffling to me. i might turn into the joker, actually
I wish every season didn’t have to end with the same psychic boss battle. I think the reason everyone went so fucking hogwild for the ‘running up that hill’ scene is because it’s one of the only moments post-season one that actually shows us something genuinely new. before that scene, every single monster in the show has been overcome by superpowers or other means of brute force. seeing max triumph over vecna via emotional strength, as a manifestation of getting past her inner trauma, was fresh and different and brilliant. that scene is easily the best part of this season, which is why it’s disappointing to see max get chucked back into another confrontation and get saved, surprise surprise, by eleven’s psychic powers this time. it was cool the first time el blew up an eldritch monster with her mind, but after four seasons...I don’t know. I wish vecna could have been vanquished by something more creative than molotov cocktails and psychic assault
on a similar note, I’m in two minds about max surviving. on the one hand, it would’ve been a real downer for her to die after already going through so much. on the other hand, her death would’ve actually raised the stakes and shown me that the writers have the balls to make unexpected narrative choices. the moment where max cries and says that she doesn’t want to die was the only part of the episode that actually twisted my gut. it was the only part where I thought “holy shit, surely they wouldn’t”. and, of course, they didn’t. giving us yet another fake-out death, hot on the heels of hopper’s in season 3, feels cheap. but it will depend on how they handle max’s arc in the next season. she’s still in a bad way, so if the cost is big enough, I think they could get away with it
sadie sink is the highlight of this season and I won’t be taking criticism on that. I've always been lukewarm towards max and never felt they utilised her enough, so I’m glad they finally did something good with her character
vecna would’ve been more interesting if henry hadn’t been such a blatant demon child. the final episode tries to pull off some parallels between eleven and vecna/henry/one, but it falls flat, because there really isn’t enough nuance to henry. he’s presented as inherently evil, some screwed up kid who was obsessed with spiders and killed his family before brenner even got his hands on him. i think he’d have been much more interesting if his evil stemmed more from how brenner had treated him. perhaps he could’ve still killed his family, but unintentionally. perhaps brenner could’ve isolated him and fed his worst instincts, just like he did with eleven, except that she had the fortune to escape. given how el’s arc in this series is about her fear of her own violence, letting her face off against someone more similar to herself, who did become the weapon brenner wanted him to be, would’ve been more satisfying.
the final episode did not need to be two and a half fucking hours. dragging things out doesn’t create more drama, it kills it. it’s hilarious to me that steve, nancy, and robin were basically being choked by vecna’s vines for like 20 minutes straight and somehow didn’t die. they probably could’ve got the whole episode under 2 hours if they’d just trimmed out some of the relentless slow-mo moments
yes i will watch the final season. yes I am very glad that there’s only one more. duffer brothers if you don’t give will a storyline in the final season i will eat you alive myself

Oh My Gosh!!!! I was just thinking about Party Crasher and man I hate how they had Ladybug get captured for the men to save! It's a continuous thing you see in media: strong heroic woman gets put in peril so that the men can shine. I didn't even realize it until you said it! I get that it was probably meant to be a "role reversal" of Chat always getting kidnapped or brainwashed for Ladybug to save, but the fact that this is the "guys' episode" it read like "well damn, we can't have the guys be strong if a girl is in the way; let's have the girl get captured so the boys can prove their worth by rescuing her!".
At least in Sandboy, Ladybug was still competent and came up with the plans, but this?! It makes me sick, and it's all too easy to fall into these traps; even Kim Possible did it! In my magical girl story, the heroine does get put in a magical coma and require someone to bail her out, but it's her female friends AND her boyfriend who save her, so it's not just a girl being weakened so a boy can be powerful, especially since said boy actually does a minority of the work required to save her; the focus is on the female characters so it's her girl friends who do most of it. I still ended up scrapping that side plot anyway, and do you know why? Because regardless of who saved her, I still didn't want my female protagonist to be put in distress at all due to the unfortunate implications! Needing help in a fight? Sure. But outright being captured or kidnapped? Nah fam.
I was honestly thinking about that when the first episode came out. Like, they could’ve just had Marinette NOT SHOW UP in time so the guys take care of things, which at least gives more of a message that Paris wouldn’t go to hell just because Ladybug is a little late or something.
And yeah, the “boys squad episode so gotta toss the girl out” is... sigh.

I think the writers were trying to show Chat angsting to show his regret instead of an actual apology. Still doesn't explain why Aeon didn't bring up her death afterwards. Did Olympia delete that from her memory banks?
I guess? :|
I don’t know why Chat can’t just apologize without fishing or trying to earn sympathy. Like JUST SAY YOU’RE SORRY, DAMMIT.

If you haven't read Maribat, then you won't regret it. I am not in the DC universe but I started reading it and WOW. Literally every single time Marinette is a badass queen and gets her complete revenge and is actually happy! Even if you absolutely love Lukanette (which I have nothing against) you should totally try it.
Appreciate the comment, but I find it hard to ship other Marinette ships outside of Lukanette. Ivanette is a very loose exception and it’s not like I ship it hard or anything.

Despite not being a Lukanette shipper I love you. Why? Because you amazing, so right in literally everything and I love you <33

The NY Special made it so that Max is literally the only Black/Brown kid that doesn’t exist to make Love Square happen and that just makes me hate it even more.
I wish you didn’t make me have this realization because I hate it.
At least Delmar existed in the New York special???? I guess???? I dunno, I’m trying here, I don’t recall him doing anything love square centric.

I honestly don't mind Alix's outfit as Bunnix! I feel like it fits her, plus she's an adult so its not much of a problem, not saying it can't be improved however. I DO have issues with the designs for the underage girls outfits however....those are very sus
Yeah, the problem I take with Bunnyx’s is that it’s a bodysuit. If there was just more definition, like having actual boots, I wouldn’t complain as much.

I actually just really like the idea of the new bee being a genuinely nice person who becomes friends with Marinette. Not exactly close friends (since I like the idea of friendly working relationships without actual personal stakes in them). I also enjoy the idea of the new bee having some small animosity for Chat Noir- just because their personalities aren't the greatest mix. I also think that it would make sense for the miraculous of subjection to be at odds with the miraculous of destruction
Full agreement but we know how much the writers are resistant to have characters go against Chat.

Not gonna lie the scene where the girl squad gets akumatized almost makes it seem like they got akumatized on purpose, similar to Manon in Puppeteer 2(although she was a little kid who was probably just imagining she could enact revenge). And why can't they have a uniformed design, like they're a team but wear different colors, similar to the Sailor Senshi(like, Alya's the leader and wears orange, Rose wears pink, Alix wears green, Juleka wears purple, and Mylene wears yellow). It's so boring.
Mood.
Not to mention that WE ARE SO TIRED OF THEM GETTING AKUMATIZED INTO THE SAME AKUMA.
AT LEAST PALETTE SWAP THEM.

Relating to the Didn't Need Burrows and Treatment of Marinette bingo cards, have you considered making one for whenever the show fails at girl power? It could say things like "sexualized frames of teenage girls" "boy tells girl what to do" "girls don't get to keep Miraculouses", and "girls are forced to apologize whenever a situation goes wrong". And in the center, it could say "Don't show this to your daughter!"! Lol! What do you think?
lol I feel like I have enough cards, otherwise I would.

I saw another post that talked about Miraculous New York, and they theorized that it was rewritten to focus more on Marinette and Adrien in order to get viewers invested in the Love Square again after more people started to lose faith in the ship. Do you think that's a possibility?
I think so. The whole special comes off as trying to reassure love square shippers because of how hard it goes for him. I cut out Marinette’s crushing and it cuts like 18% from the episode, meaning it’s even worse than Season 3 (15%).

Maybe the point of the [break-up episodes] is meant to discourage people from shipping Lukanette and Adrigami too?
Spoiler alert: didn’t work.

Are we not gonna talk about how in one ask, somebody legit said "(long dreamy sigh) Viperion"? Like same.

Ml fandom: I hate how Ladybug keeps secrets from Chat Noir! He sacrifices himself for her all the time and she never appreciates him for it! He has EVERY right to get mad at her!!
ML Fandom when Chat Noir does the same thing in the special: ....Wow Ladybug was way to harsh on Chat Noir!! She doesn’t appreciate him at all!! Shes so mean to him!

i hate it

Idk if it's just me, but a majority of the fandom is split in two; it's never one or the other "MARINETTE SUCKS AND IS A HORRIBLE PERSON GUARDIAN MARY SUE WHO SEXUALLY HARRASSES" or "ADRIEN SUCKS HE WAS NEVER ON MARINETTES SIDE" but im personally on the latter, but not to that extreme. i hate videos bashing marinette and then never acknowledge adriens faults
Yeah, the fandom gets more divided as time goes on because of the writers trying to increase the drama/tension.

I am PERSONALLY offended they gave Luka the snake miraculous. Snakes have such a negative connotation. A lot of people insult Lila by calling her a SNAKE. And now those ML writers DARE insult the best character in ML?! HOW DARE THEY!?????
I adore Viperion but I agree that I first heard he was getting snake and was like, “BUT MY BOI???”
It gets awkward too because other animals like the pig have negative connotations, like how Daizzi basically means “idiot/stupid” and they’re giving it to the freaking blond character, really???

I think that Ivanette would be even better if Marinette was plus-sized character.
I see why you’d think that. I just disagree because then it turns the ship into “let’s pair the heavyset characters together because they heavyset.”
Anonymous asked:
On the topic of romance failures and general series salt, my main issue right now is how the series puts so much focus on romantic relationships while failing to consider other levels of relationship or what they affect.
On the L² front I can completely buy Marinette being in love with Adrien. Most of the time she genuinely wants him to be happy and is ready to take a step back for him, however much it hurts. But in terms of romantic love? It. Is. A. Crush! But if we step back from the formula, what is there left between them? Their civilian relationship is held together by a “comedy” of errors and without that there is surprisingly little left. Well, besides two “best friends” desperately trying to make it happen because somehow they lost their individual characters and instead of being friends became matchmakers?
I too like Luka and Marinette together. Their relationship is pretty nice to see and all. But sometimes it feels like it happens in a dimension of its own, like the writers want to make the endgame clear in that the “sideships” can be easily cut out of the big “how they got together”-recaps. I especially miss reactions from and interactions with Juleka. She is Luka’s sister, Marinette’s friend, and IIRC someone aware of if not even a bit player in the great shipping game. She is in a prime position to step up and bring progress on all fronts: She can talk with Luka. She can either give Marinette helpful pointers or go “All in or nothing”, i.e. trying to make Marinette get her Adrien-feelings in order as she does not want her brother to get less than Marinette’s full heart. Similarly, she can counteract “friendly acts” and stop humiliating situations from escalating, or she herself can escalate them in the “All or Nothing”-scenario. Yet she remains basically a background character who gets little attention from the camera and almost no “non-focus identity”
As for Kagami, I may be too biased. *Any* positive Kagami/Marinette relationship is to me what Lukanette is to you. So naturally I have lots of opinions when it comes to her role ;) But can I just say that Adrien/Kagami is the weirdest ship for me? They have a few cute scenes and I think if they’d spend a lot more time together, they’d do each other good but I don’t know how they work. “No Hesitation” Kagami would lob Adrien’s head straight off with all his…everything. If we are meant to take Adrien’s love for LB seriously (and I guess we have to because how in the name of sanity is any form of the stated endgame gonna work otherwise???), how does Kagami fit into that picture as a girl who can hardly express emotions while Adrien is the definition of a  guy who can not stop flirting or goes for all kinds of romantic gestures? Sometimes it feels more like a “social fit” and “Mommy/Daddy approves” kind of deal which is quite the shame! Normally I like these kind of relationships in fictions but they need a solid underlining or good development. One they haven’t and one the series has not been giving to anyone so far.
Yeah, the whole thing with the love square versus side ships ends up feeling extremely forced. Keeping Luka away and forcing Adrien into Lukanette episode are the biggest giveaways, basically a big fat sign that says, “We know Marinette would forget that Adrien exists if she hung around Luka for more than five minutes.”
AND YEAH, KAGAMI WOULDN’T PUT UP WITH ADRIEN’S GARBAGE. I liked Adrimi but it’s definitely more flawed than Lukanette.

Watched your opinion on the New York special and I agree with you. It was mediocre at best. It could have been something nice, like if they added Kagami and Luka, for example, so that we can get a bit of development from the new couples on season 4, so that it doesn’t feel rushed when they start dating on season 4. It could also be a good opportunity to see the other temporary heroes one last time, since Marinette technically has the miracle box.
They could have had an epic fight with the American Superheroes, maybe even giving the bee miraculous temporally to Aeon or Jess so that we didn’t need to see their awful and uncreative superheroes designs. It would have been nice if they made something more useful other than being characters that believe that Adrien and Marinette are “Meant to be”, like, we already got a ton of these already, couldn’t we get someone who didn’t feel something about this ship? It has so much wasted potential that I don’t even know how to start. Do you agree with anything I said?
I agree, yes. They could’ve easily thrown Luka/Kagami into the mix (or had Marinette/Adrien stay behind while flipping perspectives or something; flawed but they could make it work).

I saw the Backwarder post you just talked about and yes, it is so totally ridiculous. They forgot another thing, though. Miraculous isn't just about comedy, action, and romance, it's about embarrassing Marinette. And the fact that almost everyone in the comments was acting like the medicine scene at the end was funny was just stupid and saddening to hear or read about, because it shows how people have been conditioned to hate and rally against Marinette without even realizing it. Granted, there was one lady who said it reminded her of her husband, so I guess that's okay(but all it means is that Adrien will be Marinette's--aka "his lady's"--husband like eeerrrgh!). And there was one person who said they liked that Juleka's advice because "If you're friend isn't willing to commit crimes for your happiness, is she even your friend?". But everyone else liked the ending. And I don't get the person who said we got "Subtle progression with Adrien and Marinette". We're right where we started.
Weeeeell, I understand the “comedy, action, romance” comment because all of those basically boil down to embarrassing Marinette or invalidating her. Comedy and romance goes without saying while action involves her dealing with Chat “Nice Guy” Noir.

Is it just me, or does Snow White's "Red Shoes" form look a lot like Marinette. I know, I know, Marinette is Chinese and Red Shoes is Korean, but they still look strikingly similar. They're bodies are really similar, too, but that might just be because animation tends to use eerily similar body types for its female characters on a whole. It's sad and it makes me think of how cute Marinette would be if she was fat. I also think Snow White was cuter than Red Shoes but that's kind of the point.
I think it’s the body type thing but that’s just a guess since I didn’t immediately make the connection.
I agree that Snow White is cuter.

Am I the only one who's never liked "destined to fail" characters? Basically this is when characters aren't allowed to be good at/succeed at something or else the whole universe will somehow fall apart. Think of how in The Amazing World of Gumball, if Richard gets a job, the world will be in complete and utter chaos. So he's better off as a lazy, bumbling dad. In Phineas and Ferb, Candace is always trying to rat out her younger brothers but if she gives up or succeeds something bad will happen.
TV Tropes put it the best: "Not only is she not allowed to succeed, but she's also not allowed to stop trying!"(conveniently under the Cosmic Plaything trope). I just don't like it because it shows that the writers just want to lead them on with the promise of success then snatch it away at the last minute. And now we're back at Miraculous Ladybug, where Marinette is humiliated every time she doesn't sign a gift that's for Adrien, and yet when she does, everyone in Paris DIES. Except for...HIM.
you: *mentions Candace*
me: [a million awful flashbacks]
Also, yeah, it’s so hard to watch, especially in “Chat Blanc” because it’s like, “Oh, you want to give a gift to a boy and you dArEd to use your powers for it? Congrats, but everyone else is DEAD and you can hang out with him as much as you want! You’re welcome!”

That’s be real here. Miraculous ladybug is not a show about Marinette; Miraculous Ladybug is a show about Adrien. Adrien is the real main character.
Notice that when they focused on Adrien in “Lies,” they only cut back to Marinette (IN A SCENE THAT CAN’T EXIST) to have her fawn over him.

Is it just me or are Lady Noire's eyes huge? Maybe it's just the green but they seem way bigger than Marinette's
I’m not sure, but considering Rena’s facial structure being different from Alya’s, it wouldn’t surprise me.

With what you've said about Adrien lacking a reason to exist outside of development for Marinette and Gabriel, I have to wonder how different the show would be if Chat Noir's identity was also kept from the audience. Adrien would still be there as himself, but he only gets as much focus as Alya, and Chat Noir's identity is treated as a mystery (a Tuxedo Mask type mystery, but a mystery all the same).
I see what you mean but it might cause Adrien+Chat’s screentime to feel excessive once the reveal happens, because suddenly their screentime gets combined and it’s like, “oh wow so the combined screentime is his then.”

I know that the kwami's really only exist so we can hear our protagonists' thoughts outloud (like what the Coraline movie did with adding Wybie to the story). But honestly, what's the point in having magical gods in the jewelry if you're not going to do anything with them?
Marketing with “cute” side characters.

It's funny, originally, I had shipped Marichat in the sense that Chat and Mari start hanging out and both fall in love with the other's supposedly less perfect, more real selves. Then Luka was introduced and I ended up putting both lukanette and marichat at the same level. Then S3 hit and killed any love I had for Marichat. The writers themselves killed the Love Square for me. At this point, it's very clear they are living in a delusion where the Love Square could ever work narratively without Deus ex Machina or Deus Lo Vult (God wills it). Basically, they've gone past scraping the bottom of the writing skills barrel and are now shoulder deep in the hole they dug thru the bottom of said barrel. I'd like to point out that the bottom of the barrel is writing poop and now they're digging thru the useless plastic landfill the barrel was sitting on top of
Uggggh, yeah. Any appreciation I could’ve had for Marichat died in “Weredad.” I already didn’t like Adrien/Chat and then “Weredad” just showed his complete lack of... well, ANYTHING.

Honestly feels like MLBs writers are going based off the "JUST IMAGINE EVERY POC CHARACTER YOU'RE WRITING AS WHITE" instead of, yknow, fleshing them out while developing them also in the context of their cultures and giving them these little things that the audiences who belong to the same minority can identify with. I don't mean "have Marinette walk in qipao 24/7" bcs thats just... bad on its own but man, /some/ casual acknowledgments of her culture would be nice.
Reading the sentence “JUST IMAGINE EVERY POC CHARACTER YOU'RE WRITING AS WHITE” physically hurts me.

Ok, I've always thought that Chloe was robbed of redemption (they held it in front of us, but then jerked it away while Astruc says, "She's irredeemable! We thought she was redeemable, but she wasn't :)!" What are your thoughts! Also, I just recently found your blog and I really like it :)
Thank you!
But I have no sympathy for bully characters, so I didn’t want Chloe redeemed. Maybe I’m still bitter about my own bullying experience, but I just wasn’t here for Marinette being forced to forgive Chloe, which is basically what they did until they backpedaled.
The time spent on her was wasted though and that I can agree on.

I'm semi-catching up on miraculous, and- is it my impression, or does Kagami rebel against her mother more in few episodes she's in (even though her mother's influences on her seem to be stronger in general), than Adrien in the entire show? I /know/ that I don't want to see Adrien free himself from his father w/ the desperation I want to see Kagami free herself from her mother and realize that the standards she's held up to are unhealthy and too strong.
Yeah, I’m way more invested in Kagami than Adrien.

Very minor bit of salt to throw to the pile, but can this show just decide on how strong Miraculous holders are? Yes it's a cartoon and not the focus but in the Furious Fu episode we literally get Ladybug dodging lighting and then Su who seems mostly human and is at least slower then Fu was outspeeding her. It's distracting trying to figure out what is and isn't a serious threat in this show.
The deciding factor in the strength of the miraculous holders is “whatever works for the plot.”

At this point the only thing I'm excited for concerning Miraculous Ladybug is when it gets a reboot in like, a decade with actually competent writers
Best case scenario is that Zag goes bankrupt and Disney/Netflix picks up the series and gives it to competent people.
Problem is that the love square has been ruined so badly for me that even a “good” version of it wouldn’t be something I’d be into, but still.

Honestly, the problem with having all of Marinette's mistakes result in huge disasters (ex. Feast), is that is gives off the impression that teenagers aren't allowed to make mistakes. This show clearly doesn't like giving second chances to the protagonist, so why would life give one to you? Am I right, kids?
Exactly.
Marinette makes mistakes and suddenly the world is ending.

YES. Like, show us characters’ perspectives and why they’re rolling with the facts that they’re rolling with, otherwise they just end up looking like jerks.
We sort of got it in “Ikari Gozen” with Kagami but of course it was just to make Marinette look bad.

Okay one thing that bothers me is how plain marinette's suits are despite being a DESIGNER. Her multimouse suit it just blocks of color and her ladynoir suit is just grey with green lines. I think the lines are supposed to represent actually clothes. Like the limes on the calves are supposed to make it look like boots but why not actually GIVE her boots. (Right, because she has to have a skintight suit unlike the boys who get some layers.)
THE SHEER DISRESPECT OF HAVING THE FASHION DESIGNER WEAR SUCH A PLAIN SUIT.
It also goes to show who really designs here, like oh, interesting, the girls get skin-tight simplistic bodysuits and the boys gets all the cool stuff--

Watching S1 and S3 episodes back to back, it feels like reading salt fics at times, especially in regards to the L². Like, Marinette was happy about weird plans, she both needed and wanted the final push, and most of the time there was at least something coming out of it. Nowadays it just makes her sad, Alya and the girls act *against* her, and we get shipping for shipping's sake.
That’s a good point. The shift from Seasons 1 to 2 to 3 is rather noticeable.

I’m reminded of “Lies” here and I hate it. :|

Honestly, the way the show treats teenage girls is horse ass. The show treats the teenage girls of this show as if they're stupid, naive, emotional, clumsy, and need a boy to tell them what opinions to have. Marinette is always treated like the show's punching bag and blamed for everything that goes wrong because she's "emotional" or "obsessed with Adrien", Chloe could've been redeemed but the writers would rather keep her a brain-dead Alpha Bitch Valley Girl(even though Gabriel and Felix, the latter of whom is a teenage boy introduced in one episode, get to be treated as redeemable, despite the things they do being far, far worse), and Lila is a conniving, self-absorbed fox.
And even though Kagami seems better, she's still roped into the "girls catfight over an oblivious guy" cliche and so far, all of her akumatizations have been because of Adrien. Whenever Marinette tries to move on from Adrien the other characters tell her what's good for her and steer her in the "right" direction because she apparently can't think for herself, and the writers LOVE to use the girl squad to tell us who Marinette should be with, because they apparently know better than she does.
Plus the show loves to treat all the girls as the same, making them all either fight over Adrien or be obsessed with shipping, as if teenage girls are all one assimilating, homogenized group(also when they treat Marinette as if she's "just as bad as Chloe", rinse and repeat for the other ladies.). Honestly, the show feels like it was written by those types of people who think "teenage girls are the worst" so they make them all mood-swingy, obsessive, showoffs, emotional, and downright clingy.
Plus the way Thomas Astruc talks about the female characters on Twitter is even worse, and only serves to make this more evident: he claims Marinette "has poor control over her emotions"(all the while calling Adrien "perfect"), that Chloe was racist in Kung Food "because she's stupid"(so rather than having that scene serve as a lesson on respecting other's cultures, he just did it to pick on Chloe and make her look "stupid"), that she's incapable of being redeemed, that Lila's unlikable but Gabriel and Felix aren't(even though he claimed Felix was a terrible character and a "cliche", that's not what the show says my guy), and other such nonsense.
Other Twitter users have also called out Miraculous Ladybug and its stereotypical treatment of teenage girls. The only shows I've ever seen do this worse are those pretentious "darker" Magical Girl "deconstructions" aimed at grown men such as Madoka Magica and Yuki Yuna, as well as most shonen/seinen shows such as Naruto and Death Note, which says a lot. Honestly, whenever I feel like watching a show with empowering and respectful depictions of teenage girls that treats them as bright and intelligent and actually unique from one another, I just watch Equestria Girls, Liv and Maddie, LoliRock, ANT Farm, Moesha, PreCure, or Sailor Moon. Because the way the show acts towards them is deplorable, absolutely deplorable.
Yes to all of the above. Almost all of the girls are involved in love affairs in some way, the two teenage girls are irredeemable while Felix got a sympathetic backstory right away (Chloe took forever to get hers which is a failure), and Marinette is flawed because she’s “too emotional” (a misogynistic stereotype).

Hi, I'm the anon who got upset at the lady who made the "Miraculous Ladybug is a Mess" rant, and yes, thank you zodiacspirit17 for liking and agreeing with my rant! I'm glad someone else saw that video! And ugh, Marinette learning to love Chat Noir? Really? I don't remember that line but I also don't want to go back and revisit it to make sure so I'll take your word for it. Ew. That was actually one of the things I hated about the Glaciator scene. Chat was supposedly comforting Marinette by taking her to the rooftop where he planned Ladybug's date, and yet only Marinette finds out about Chat's crush on Ladybug and comforts him on that(while rethinking her feelings), while all Chat knows is that Marinette's heart was also broken. He never asks who it is, or tries to help her get over her crush even if he doesn't know it's coincidentally him.
I know it's because of the "love square" but it's unfair that only Chat's love problems are directly addressed. Come to think of it, the reason Chat took Marinette to the rooftop...I know he was doing it in-universe to help her instead of intruding on her personal feelings(which might have also been why he didn't ask her who her crush was, he was probably thinking along the lines of "we don't have to talk about it right now, we can just have fun!"), but meta-wise, since we know she's Ladybug, the writers were probably trying to tell her "See? This is what you could've been doing, but you missed it. Shame on you!" That's a huge issue I have with the show: characters will do things in-universe to help Marinette, but the show has a different motive in mind. Compare to how Tikki gave actual advice to Marinette in Puppeteer 2, but the writers intended that for the statue scene so they could embarrass her in front of Adrien and the thousands of eyes watching the show(except we're not laughing.). Even if characters do support her, the writer is using them as props for her ritualized humiliation. And yet Luka is the problem somehow.
If Marinette needs to learn how to love Chat Noir, then it should at least be balanced out by Adrien learning to Marinette. I'm sick of this double standard that "girls need to learn to accept boys who like them but guys can do what they want". Another thing she said was that "Marinette needs to learn to define herself outside of who she's crushing on." NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. You see, unlike Adrien, Marinette HAS a life outside of who she's crushing on: she has school, she has Kitty Section, she has her "girl squad", she has her parents, she has her outside family, she babysits Alya's and Nino's siblings, and she has OH YEAH HER FASHION DESIGNING! I didn't even count being a superhero since Adrien does that, too. She has so many things to do outside of Adrien, and yet the fact that she makes gifts for Adrien or dreams about Adrien or wants to have kids with Adrien somehow makes her nothing but an "Adrien fangirl"?
First of all, she's the bloody protagonist?! That's such a "Real Women Don't Wear Dresses" argument, that she can't have her own life AND be in love at the same time! And somehow her crushing on Luka also means her life revolves around him, too! But Adrien's life doesn't revolve around Ladybug even though he doesn't really have anything going for him in his ordinary life? Outside of being rich, hot, white, and male, that is? What are his interests and hobbies, besides what Gabriel lets him do to pass the time? He doesn't even like modeling! And the Agreste plot is more about Gabriel, Emilie, and Nathalie than it is about him.
And what about his friendship with Nino? He didn't even care that Nino was getting strung along by Lila with the others! What about his friendship with Chloe that also waxes and wanes? Granted, Chloe's not a GOOD person, which that lady acknowledged, but she at least tried to change and has more development than him, the writers just won't let her change. I hate when people come for Marinette for doing literally anything when the show won't let her have agency and progress. It's so unfair of her and I wish they could see that. These double standards are driving me insane and they're sexist(maybe even a little bit racist, too), and it hurts even more when a woman's doing those things.
(I had to cut off some of this ask because I didn’t get all of it, so I cut it off at the point where it still seemed like a full ask.)
I FEEL THE “GLACIATOR” THING SO BAD. It hurts even worse when you realize that “Frozer” has to take place after “Glaciator,” so Chat Noir heard that Marinette has love problems and then ignored it to ask her for advice about his own love problems later on. The total lack of insensitivity???
Also, the idea that Marinette’s life would revolve around her crush on Luka is stupid. It’s the exact opposite, in fact.
Meanwhile, Adrien has so little going for him and the “interesting” parts of him involve who he’s connected to or what his father has forced him into.

Ducktales Shadow Into Light (Lena Restrospective) Finale!: Lena In Season 3! (Commission for WeirdKev27)
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy people and welcome to the FINAL part of my look at the life and times of Lena Sabrewing. It’s been a long and satsifying journey through the character’s rich arc and some of Ducktales 2017′s best episodes. Lena started as a tourtured but complacient teen willing to do bloody awful evil things if it meant her freedom, who through the power of love and friendship realized what she was doing wrong, that she loved Webby and turned on Magica... and after a brief stint of this going horribly wrong a magica simply just bodyjacked her, she sacrificed herself for Webby he story seemingly done. Of course it wasn’t, Disney woudln’t let them kill a teenager... fully grown lion men horrifcally decaying indiana jones style yeah, of course it’s disney, but killing a teen is where they draw the line. Point is Lena was merley trapped in the shadow realm with a bunch of those guys Yugi beat and with the help of everyone’s faviorte stoic hummingbird, freed Lena. Lena found new family in Violet.. but also found dying is easy but living is harder and had to wrestle with both her fears of turning out like Magica and Magica herself who naturally was gaslighting her to try and get the last scraps of her power back. We also took a detour or two to see where she came from: looking at both Minima De Spell and her rivalry with a 34 year pretending to be a small child, and Magica’s Shadow whose like Lena except almost nothing like Lena. We also took a look at her one comic apperance which was never released here for some reason and was incredibly disapointing.
So yeah i’ts been one long, fun ride filled with gay subtext, launchpad’s spider sense, giant legs, movie refrences from warriors to jaws to nightmare on elm street 3: the dream warriors, toddlers who look and probably are 34, launchpad apparently huffing enough paint to damage his brain as that’s the only way to explain the terror of the terrafirmains subplot and gay subtext. I’ve enjoyed every step of the way so before I take the last one of those steps, i’d like to thank all of ya for reading this. I’ve gained at least 10 if not more followers off this series alone and I appricate all of you. I’d also like to thank Kev for directly comissioning this, keeping me in work and in x-men comics since 2020.
As you can probably guess by the title.. this one’s a bit different. This is a combination of two things: The first is that i already reviewed “The Phantom and the Sorceress” when I was reviewing each episode of Season 3 as it came out.  My thoughts have not changed  at all so I felt redoing that review would be redudant and a waste of Kev’s money. The same goes for Split Sword, which has the extra issue of  being a three story episode with only one of the parts starring the focus of this retrospective. The second is while she shows up about the same amount as season 2, her apperances in season 3 outside of her Christmas Cameo are all more substaial outside of her two starring roles. Both COTHJSW and The Last Adventure shed some more light on our faviorite shadow and feel like natural evolutions of her character so it felt wrong to just flat out ignore them.
So rather than do a full review of the episodes i’m just going to go into Lena’s apperances for Season 3. This way I can cover Phantom again without fully repeating myself, and fully track the last steps Lena takes as the series closes out in a fresh and hopefully enjoyable way. So join me under the cut for one last step into the shadows as we finish bringing Lena into the light.

Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks!
Challenge was one of the very first Ducktales I ever talked about on here, alongside Quack Pack, so it’s quite a trip returning to it a year later, even if i’ts just my memories of it. It’s also an excellent episode, with a great and engaging main plot and a “it’s just kind of there” subplot.
It’s also one of the only three episodes to focus on Violet, and one of only two that focuses just on her and not on Lena in any way. It is a shame: While I love Lena as a character, I wouldn’t of just spent several weeks talking about her if I wasn’t getting paid for this retrospective or not, Violet is equally intriguing and so i’ll be taking a second out to talk about her as I really HAVEN’T gone into her character this retrospective and given how important she is to Lena and to all of us, most Lena fans like Violet just as much and vice versa. I’ll still be talking about Lena in this episode, obviously, but I feel her sister from two misters deserves some time in the spotlight too as the show only gave her three episodes, and one was more focused on Webby and Lena by design and the other we’ll get to.
Violet is an excellent character. She speaks well and with little emotion but that’s just how she is and she’s never called out for it or insulted, something I like. Likewise she dosen’t judge others, never really batting an eye at the rest of the groups own quirks and at most being freaked out by leg huey a bit. She’s just a kind, curious, intellgent young lady.
And this episode shows that off: We get to see her in the spotlight of her own, every bit the Woodchuck Huey is and more, but still supporting and encouring him, seeing their contest as a friendly one and putting no stakes into it as she’s failed before, she can fail again. What matters is she get back up and keep going. Her “razzing” is also just downright adorable, and nicely shows off her and Lena’s new dynamic: they’ve gone from friends to siblings, something really not shown off last time and something that wason’t confirmed on screen till now but it just works naturally, the cool and collected but chaotic underneath that lena just plays perfectly off the uttelry calm and deadpan violet. It’s a natural, perfect dynamic that they clearly had mapped out from the beggining and simply had to build up to that.
Her genuine shock at Huey’s betryal... hurts the heart, as she genuinely thinks it’s her fault and not just my boy having a panic attack and doing something questionable. But it also shows her character.. when givne the same opprunity and no guilt for it, he struck first.. she dosen’t. She saves him because it’s the right thing to do and shows Huey she really is the bettter woodchuck.. but htere’s no shame in it. It’s okay to fail, what matters is you keep trying. And as a result despite giving Huey the opporunity to win with her.. he turns it down. She gets a deserved win, celebrating with her family and just wearing the most adorable smile. She also just has.. buckets of chemistry with Huey. I mean it was apparent to me with the whole Library Scene in Nightmare but god damn do they ramp it up with this one. They just contrast each other perfectly here, the handshake is adorable and he clings to her.. while also being hilarious “I naturlaly defer to authority!”. I will take this ship to my grave, and fully support it... that being said if you ship Huey/Boyd or all three togehter, go for it man. I do the latter sometimes. Your good. You didn’t need me to tell that but sometimes shipping discorse can get downright ugly so rather than make it a war between two ships, I just wanted to offer an olive branch for once you know? Same with Weblena. I obviously adore that ship but if you have a non-boys ship with her, tha’ts cool too. Ship what you want to.. i’m just doing me through this retrospective.
Now back to Lena. Her apperance in this episode is really heartwarming and really nice after all the shit she’s been through. This is the first episode she’s in where NOTHING bad happens to her. No really, every apperance, even her two cameos had her suffer in some way. She spent the entire first season grappling with Magica, and her season 2 apperances trapped in a shadow dimension and nearly loosing her girlfriend to her own jealously, horrifically stalked by her abuser using her own self doubt against her, attacked by a literal tempest in a tea pot and captured by aliens. The girl has not gone one friggin onscreen break since the series started and probably not many off it either.
Here? She just gets to cheer her little sister, proudly celebrating both her and her new dads. She gets to teach her sister to trash talk, even if that ends up backfiring a bit but she meant well. And she gets to celebrate with her family when her little sister wins. It’s all small stuff.. but it’s all things she’s NEVER had. A sibling to be proud of and support. Dads to sit with and go places with. A family to celebrate things with. This is all pretty normal stuff, but not something everyone gets to have and something Lena NEVER had even remotely. But now she’ll ALWAYS have that. A supportive loving family to give her a place to belong, and to support in turn. After a nightmarish 14-15 years of existance, she’s FINALLY allowed to just be happy without having to fight a giant monster first.
Tumblr media
She’s finally made it, she’s hoped and she’s waited, for the first time in her life she dosen’t feel alone. Her hearts started to heal, to know this is real, this is how it feels.. to have a home. Yes I haven’t given up on that song. And if you think this is the last time i’m going to quote a song you clearly didn’t read the review I did of the next episode.

The Phantom and the Sorceress:
Season 3′s primary focus outside of the FOWL plot was tying up loose ends. Pretty much every major recurring episode outside of Fethry got an episode tying up their character arc and of course Lena was no exception.
You’d think with Magica no longer a threat to her and having fully accepted she’s a good person now, and having found a place to belong that Lena was done.  But while she accepted her past, that she’s not magica, and that she deserves to be happy.. she never accepted Magic as part of her despite being made of it and that’s what this episode ties up as well as the mystery of the blue aura that surronded her magic at times.
The episode starts with Lena’s amulet, which she has back now which is the only part of this episode I don’t like as they don’t really explain why she’d take it back from Violet. But her magic keeps goofing up and making Sleepovers dangerous, and gets Scrooge grousing about how magic is bad.. only to naturally backpedal when an angry Webby points out Lena is magic. He does amend things and genuinely apologize for it, having not meant her at all and not even thinking of her as part of his hatred of the stuff. It also shows why Lena likely didn’t take him up on his offer.. with her self loathing still going she probably thought he was just pitting her and would always resent her.. when really he just geninely did not care despite his overwhelming hate of magic. It worked out granted, she found a better fit for her family wise.
But Lena hates it too.. and while she hasn’t fully brought it up before it makes perfect sense: We saw how she viewed it as dangerous and not worth the risk to bring her back in Friendship Hates Magic and Magic has brought her nothing but pain, nearly killing her on several occasions, allowing magica to fuck with her head  or directly control her and general putting the one person she cares about more than anyone in harms way. She hates what she is.. because it’s brought her nothing but pain and misery. She has ever reason to resent it..
Yet this episode is about forcing her to accept it.... to realize that Magic is part of who she is, and that it’s not inherently good or bad, it’s all about the intent of who uses it. Her last two uses of it were not made with any malice and in fact using it to pull her friends into her dreams allowed her to break free of Magica.
And it’s perfectly done by giving her a new enemy, something I REALLY wish tehy’d done with Fenton at some point, but get why it took this long with Lena: The Phantom Blot. The Phantom Blot, like many characters in this series is HEAVILY redone: he keeps the iconic look and threat level but instead of being an operatic supervillian, he’s an anti-villian with a link to magic he never really had before. He works with FOWL sure but it’s likely because unlike the rest of FOWL he actually agrees with Bradford’s goal for a less chaotic world and his desire to wipe out magic is perfectly in line with that.
He’s also given a backstory that perfectly parallels him with Lena: Both were created by Magica in a way and horribly abused by her: Lena mentally and phsycially, and Blot by having to suffer under her rule after he took over her family and then barely survivie as she wiped out his villiage, his family and his normal life swearing vengance on her. LIke Lena magica didn’t care about him or see him as a threat, figuring like most people who swore eteneral vengance on her he’d get swatted down like a gnat once and never return. INstead he returned again and again and again for decades, learning each time getting stronger and wiping out more magic along the way. He went from what was probably a good normal person to a vengeful vigliante dedicated to wiping out magic good or bad because he can’t concieve that it isn’t ALL bad. He’s easily what Lena could’ve become if , ironically enough she hadn’t encountered him, seeing the end result of hating something just for what it is as it tried to murder her. That hating and resenting Magic would just lead her to become as hollow and vengful as the blot, having a good cause to start.. but slowly loosing yourself to hate and anger. Letting the person who ruined your life still control it simply by focusing all your energy on hating them and people like them.
It also gives us an interesting and painful teamup as with the boys and Scrogoe stuck in another dimension, there’s only one person they can turn to deal with Magic: Magica herself, whose resulted to depression eating pizza and the most she can do as a threat is eat the garlic Violet was wearing in case of vampires (”There now your susceptible to vampires!” is easily the best joke of the episode, from how Magica eats the garlic in one bite to her manical laugh to Violet just being annoyed rather than terrified or anything). Magica only agrees because they have a common enemy and if he sucks up her magic amulet, that’s the end of any magic she has left.
It’s also here we learn the reason for the blue and purple color coding: Duckworld magic is indeed color coded.. but rather than be based ont he emotions used or anything.. it’s based on the user. The purple is Magica, and as we later learn Poe’s, magic, and thus Lena borrowing it via the amulet. The Blue is HER magic. Tapping into her emotions and her own inante power. It’s a nice twist I didn’t see coming but makes absolute sense in hindsight: Every time she’s triggered it.. it’s been when she’s been using her own emotions and been doing thigns for her own good, and not for anyone elses. It also explains why the Magica powers aren’t working for her or stable: their not HERS to control and thus are fighting her.
So she trains to use her own using the time honorted traditions of montages and having your sibling shoot things at you out of a magical amulet. She grows in her talent and power and herself, even if she learns from the person she hates more and comes to accept magic.. in time to fight the Blot who misguidedly thinks harming her will show Magica the pain he felt.. even though as we learn later that ship already sailed and we already knew she cares nothing for Lena.
But as he drains her amulet... she focuses on what she cares about... and if we didn’t already ahvea  MOUNTAIN of subtext for webby and lena her “frienddship” montage has maybe one or two shots of her sister.. and about 80 of webby. Seriously they.. they weren’t even hiding it at this poitn outside of the finale, which we’ll get to.
And so she takes hold of her magic, no longer need the amulet to channel it and taking on her super mode! Which was highly contreversal at the time.  BUt I get why. As a transformation, ala dragon ball, and a superhero type costume it works, giving her a power and grandeur not seen before and showing she’s using all of it, giving weight to when it only shows up in the finale when she needs it most and likely would’ve given it weight any other time it showed up. But it wasn’t clear if this was her permenant look now and Frank’s response to it was to say he wanted to dress everyone up in that outfit , at the same size Lena has it, including launchpad wearing it like a cape. Which while hilarious and it was, was also blatant trolling as her return in Split Sword showed it wasn’t her default form, and they could relax. But as a form showing the apex of her power, character development and confidence, it works and has all the drama i’d expect from a form like this, reflecting the blot’s power back onto him and overloading the gauntlet and facing down Magica easily.
It’s the perfect way to cap things off... Lena finally acccepts herslef as she is fully: she’s not evil and neither is magic.. magic is a part of her and her power is not something to hate.. but to embrace. To use to protect the world from people LIKE Magica who would misue their power to harm others or the blot who belivie her power is inherently evil. This is a lena freed from the chains of self hatred, fully accepted. It turns her story into a wonderful, beautiful story of escaping abuse and accepting yourself as who you are, that no matter what you are or where you come from, you are beautiful, you are good and you can do good. And as she flies off with her sister and girlfriend, she’s finally, fully, truly at peace with who she was who she is now and flies into the future.. and to free her girlfirends dad from another dimension. Nothing is holding her back now, no one can push her around, she’s who she wants to be, she’s the master of her, and the thoughts enough to lift her off of the ground. She and Webby are independent together and they are flying. And yes i’m linking the song again.

But even with her character Arc Wrapped she still could support others in their own growth. Case in point:

The Split Sword of Swanstantine!
This was the vingette episode, with a pair of the kids, one from Team Magic the other from the Duck Boys, going after a piece. And while Violet’s segment is neat it dosent’ really expand on her enough for me to go into it like I did with Challenge, so i’ll only be covering the cold open and Lena and Huey’s segment. Given these two are some of my faviorites, Lena hasn’t really gotten to have any meaningful interactoins with anyone besides Webby, Violet and Magica (And scrooge but for like.. two minutes), and this bit is really creative and intresting I loved it. It also has Steelbeak so I got a nice Jason Mantzokus fix on top of that despite him barely getting to speak in this one.. and really all season. Season 3 REALLY wasted Steelbeak, only using him three times and just ignoring the whole idea of him growing more compitent with time. Maybe Frank’s saving that for darkwing duck if he gets to do that I dunno. At least Invincible and Close Enough are using the man properly so I got that.
THe setup to the episode as a whole is comedic gold: Scrooge has taken the kids to Monocrow to find the split sword, one of the missing mysteries before FOWl.. only to then realizze in one of the best jokes of the season, after HOURS of plane travel probably that Violet and Lena had also come along having slept over and thus spending the episode in their sleep clothes. As Violet puts it in LIebe’s best delivery of the series “You said eveyrone get on the plane so we got on the plane”. So, fricking relatable. Scrooge’s awkard “Do you.. like history?” is also great, David is a treasure, as if he’s just now realizing he really dosen’t know Webby’s closest friend and girlfriend and is scrambling for some common ground so he can stop talking. 1/2′s good enough and we’re off.
Lena and Huey’s plot, the final one of the three, likewise has a simple setup: Huey finds the sword piece.. and also Steelbeak, whose ready to punch  him some children. Lena freezes time as she can do that but can’t delay the inveitble, just give them time to plan.
And this is a nice showcase for Huey and a nice chance for Lena to be snarky as Huey wants to try anything and everything he can do that dosen’t involve fighting as he hates it and Lena endulges him as he gets tossed around, playing on her phone while he tries dumb scheme after dumb scheme from prtending to be his dad, to his inner child, to construction to offering him a snack, to “what sword piece” while hodling the sword blade twice his side behind his back.
Lena eventually calls him on it: He can’t keep avoiding this and there’s some reason he dosen’t want to fight. The reason turns out to be he bruce bannered himself and thus has a split personality for all his agression and primal rage, the duke of making a mess,  Huey’s version fo the McDuck family anger he’s buried away and is ashamed of, hating his  more impuslive emotions due to his desire for control.
As for how Lena impacts this.. it’s her own acceptance of the part of her she hated, her magic, that gives her the clarity to help Huey, helping him realize like her this shit isn’t healthy and to make peace with the Duke instead of fighting him and locking him away. The result is a perfect combo: a huey with all the power and strength of a mcduck, but the nuance and tactics Huey normally has to beat Steelbeak easily. Lena is impressed, a friendship is forged and we see how far sh’es come: from hating herself.. to helping others stop doing it before it gets worse.

How Santa Stole Christmas!
All we really learn here is that she and Violet share a room and a king sized bed.. but we got that cheek smooch and I had to mention that so there you go.

The Last Adventure!:
Like most of the main cast Lena gets a decent note to go out on, if a bit wobbly. The wobblyiness comes from two sources. The first is just a nitpick of mine; We don’t get to see the climax of her fight with the Blot alongside Manny. No really. The Blot got two spotlight episodes, his own sidekick/wife/amy sedaris, and was built up as one of FOWL’s biggest threats.. and his defeat isn’t even shown on screen for some damn reason. I feel they just ran out of time but given how important Lena and Manny were series wide and how awesome the keith david reveal was, it’s a cop out
Speaking of Cop Outs we can’t talk about this episode without talknig about the elephant in the room: Lena saying Webby “already has two sisters”, seemingly shooting down any posiblity of Weblena. I do not see it that way but do feel the two could’ve phrased it better and we could’ve gotten SOME Weblena by the end instead of none to offset this. I feel Lena’s motivations, esecpailly given the context were purely to try and placate Webby to keep her from investigating the twins further and endangering herself, not realizing how badly this wouldn’t work as Lena’s never cared about where she comes from and her past is all pain and abuse before Webby, while Webby had this gnawing at her her whole life. I do think the last episode was the WORST POSSIBLE place to put this, as it comes off as queerbaiting evne though I don’t think that was the intent. So yeah this line sucks and was poorly conveyed.
Everything else though is thankfully excellent: Her raging frekaout at June feels warranted, as June is literally trying to cut Webby out of her life and was purposffully trying to galight webby as we find out. Her and Violet’s reason for going is also just pure awesome, pure heartwarming and pure badass, both angrily and simply proclaming when stating why their going on the final attack no fowl “It’s Webby”. Webby helped Lena become a better person and lnvoes her more than anyone else and vice versa and Webby gave Violet Friends, a sister and a life of her own. Nothings going to stop them and Scrogoe wisely backed down on that one before they strangled him.
Her final scene is the best though: Not only do she and Violet give May and June friendship braclets but despite the earlier hostlitlity... Lena helps them with not a second though. She now understands them, gets that their like her: a being made by an evil dickhead who saw them as a tool to use and not a person and was willing to kill them the moment they were no longer useful. She too was once lost, sad and felt alone..but Webby pulled her out of that and now she’s going to be there for these two, these alterante versions of the love of her life, to give them the same support and encourages them they’ll find their home. And sure enough my boy comes by not a second later to adopt both of them. In an instnat they’ve gone from alone with only webby like Lena was.. to having a family of their own and loyal friends to stay by their sid.e
And so Lena ends the series charing off into the wild blue with her sister and her newfound friends, the future all ahead of her, the past finally put to bed, and herself finally at peace, in love with Webby.. and with herself at long last.
This retrospective was a wonderful time. I throughly enjoyed going through Lena’s history and being more and more impressed how much I’d missed and how it was even BETTER the second time around. This arc is Ducktales at it’s best and Lena is the finest thing they acomplished. This is easily Kimiko Glenn’s best role and really let her show off her range. Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ll see of this wonderful lesbian shadow, but as it stands with peace, love and self worth found, it’s still a good place to leave her. If she ever returns i’ll of course pick this up again, and free of charge but for now I enjoyed the ride and throughly enjoyed this retrospective. T
Thank you all so much for reading. If you liked this retrospective, please stick around. My next comissioned story arc is covering the various crossovers Lilo and Stitch did, but after that in three weeks return here for Season 2. All three arcs, All done intermidtley. Buckle up.

3, 4, 5, and 9 from the fic ask game!
3: Do you have any upcoming WIPs? How far along are you with them?
So, thankfully most of my shorter drafts got published during the DocRose marathon. The longer ones.... yikes... I'll list a few, but there are a lot just sitting there in planning.
"the rose-pond swap" (the TARDIS accidentally misplaces Rose and Amy) has 7 chapters on my AO3 but I don't have the next chapter yet... whoops.
"the weight of words" - I have like. 50 chapters planned and 8 written in docs, but I don't actually think I'll ever publish this one. It's just a generic Series 3-4 Rewrite in which the Doctor actually managed to finish his sentence, and it "changes" him. Meanwhile, Rose is dimension-hopping and meeting other incarnations, who all help her as she shifts into her new Bad Wolf pseudo-Gallifreyan physiology.
untitled - Tentoo and Rose travelled a lot on their own and made a lot of alien superspy tech since they can't regenerate, but Tentoo has since died. Rose travelled on her own and picked up Jenny on the day Ten left (completely coincidental) but is called back to Earth by Jack when Jenny gets arrested for something. Unfortunately, he accidentally calls both TARDISes, and Eleven and all three Ponds show up too. I wrote 7 chapters of this, but they're not linear and I don't really think I'm happy with them, so I'm likely to scrap it.
"Something Wild" - Time Lady Rose slowburn where she and the Doctor are Academy friends but have a falling out when he goes through with his arranged marriage. It's funny though, they seem to be getting called back to each other throughout the years at the worst parts of their lives, and then a big Thing happens when the Time War ends but I'd rather not say. It literally spans from Theta Sigma to Day of the Doctor. Loosely inspired by the song by Lindsey Stirling feat. Andrew McMahon. Still in the planning stages and I have the biggest plot parts down, but even as I write it I might not publish it because of my lack of canon knowledge.
I've also planned like... 3? more series rewrites (all separate ideas) and 3 ideas for gift fics for my beta if I can get myself to write again. I'm just.... very tired.
4: Tell me about one of your abandoned WIPs. Why did you abandon it?
I abandoned a LOT of fics during the marathon--some of those are more about needing more time to either think, research, or just trudge past writer's block. I'll tell you about the funny and infamous "Check Yes, Juliet" fic that I stopped--it was supposed to be a multiverse fic that follows 3 TenRose pairings (canon + 2 AU) but as you might expect, that does not flow very well. It plays sorta like a music video in my head and I can see what I want to happen, which is frustrating, but I can't get it into words.
5: Share a snippet that you’re proud of from an upcoming fic/chapter.
I literally do not have anything that's guaranteed to be upcoming since I'm taking a breather, so... uh... instead, enjoy the intro to "the weight of words" that will live unfinished in my Drive forever:
“I...I love you.”
The instinctive teasing quip flirty arrogant defense mechanism dies somewhere on its way from his brain to his lips, and all he can see is her. The woman who saved him, who took his hand palm to palm, fingers locked tight, a perfect fit when he’d thought he had no one left in all of time and space. Who smiled at him tongue in teeth, brilliant, radiant, golden and happy when he thought he’d only ever see darkness even when he was awake. Who gave him a home her hand in his, the music of laughter, nights curled on the sofa when he thought he’d doomed himself to being homesick for all eternity. The woman he….
“If… if it’s my last chance to say it. Rose Tyler, I love you.”
9: Are there any fics you’d love to see but don’t want to write yourself? What are they?
MultiDoctor content!! I have to do SO much research for that stuff and some authors are so familiar with canon they can just churn it out, and I love that. Also, parallel universe content or alternate universe (especially royalty, childhood best friends or college/university fics)--you do not understand how much I suck at AUs, even if I adore reading some of them.

I never watched Winx as a kid, so I really hope I don't sound like an idiot for asking this. What exactly does the Netflix Winx series do wrong besides giving it the "dark and gritty" makeover?
So like. There are a lot of problems here and I’ll try to tackle them. I haven’t finished the reboot because I have difficulty getting through things I like, much less things I hate watch. But anyway, this gets long and is separated into parts.
Let’s start with it’s issues on it’s own and not as an adaptation:
It’s still pretty garbage. Not ‘the worst thing ever’. Interesting enough. But it does have problems. Some racist and homophobic and fatphobic writing. The characters range from ‘kind of a jerk’ to ‘straight up assholes who will cause physical harm for petty reasons’. The nicest one so far is Terra, but even she kinda snaps and strangles a guy with her plant powers.
Now on to things it fails on as an adaptation!
First, the whitewashing!
Of the six main characters, 3/6 were poc-coded in the original cartoon(I say ‘coded’ because they’re not Humans from Earth but still). Aisha is black, Flora is Latina, and Musa is Chinese.
Aisha is the only one who remains black. I’ve heard varying testimonies on Musa’s actor, but the ‘best’ I’ve heard is that she’s 1/4 Singaporean and white passing. I don’t have the authority to say if that’s in the clear or not so I’m leaving that to other fans.
Flora gets the worst though. They cast a white woman to play her. Then backtracked and said ‘oh, this isn’t Flora. We replaced her with her white cousin Terra’. Yeah you can see the problem there.
Characters they got rid of entirely! I’ll only discuss characters that showed up in the first two seasons of the original show since Fate only has one season. (I’d say just the first, but they included Aisha who is from Season 2).
Let’s see. They got rid of Tecna, one of the main six girls. It’s likely because they’re going for a more ‘bootleg Hogwarts’ vibe, and Tecna’s magic being heavily technology based ruins that. So she’s just tossed altogether.
The boys! Oh my god my boys! Sky and Riven are the only ones who were kept in, while Brandon, Timmy and Helia got scrapped and replaced as well. The other boys like Dane and Sam? Totally could’ve just given them those names and been done with it.
Then there’s Icy, Darcy and Stormy! I’m counting them together because that’s exactly what Fate did! The three Witches are villains in the series, and instead of keeping a trio, they combined her into a single character. Beatrix.
I think Silva was also an amalgamation of the remaining Headmaster/Headmistresses and a few other staff members but considering they condensed it to just one school it kind of makes sense.
Sometimes there’s just a name change like the Headmistress of Alfea was changed to Farah Dowling instead of Faragonda which is so pointless.
Overall there’s other minor characters that don’t show up, like the rest of the school staff, Mirta and Lucy, so on and so forth. But I’m less upset about that. Still upset though because I love them.
Personality changes! And romance drama!
Oh boy. Oh boy oh boy oh boy.
I already mentioned how they made everyone an asshole in this reboot. In the original show, the only protagonist that was consistently a jerk was Riven, but he was more of the ‘grumpy but still a good guy’ type of asshole.
Let’s compare just one character and her relationships to others!
Stella in the Original Cartoon: Preppy and sometimes a little vain, could be blunt to the point of insulting, but never malicious. Very sweet and loves her friends. She and Bloom are best friends, Stella having been the one to bring Bloom into the world of Magix and will do everything she can to make sure she’s safe. Stella’s love interest is Brandon, who is bffs with Bloom’s love interest Sky. Stella and Brandon are very cheesy and cute together. They aren’t usually jealous, and can even make a competition out of ‘how many phone numbers can I get?’.
Stella in Fate: Total bitch to all her roommates. She’s getting the common ‘my mom’s a bitch who puts pressure on me so I’m going to be a bitch’ thing that’s become popular now. Since Brandon was deleted, they put her in a love triangle with Bloom and Sky, Sky being Stella’s ex bf. And despite breaking up with him, Stella sees him just talking to Bloom and decides ‘Hm. Let’s prey on her insecurities that she doesn’t belong here, and manipulate her into leaving!’ Which includes walking through a forest where there was recently a man attacked and viscously killed by some kind of monster, so I’m putting it up to attempted murder.
Yeah. Everyone’s kind of like that. It’s awful.
Bloom’s backstory and parents!
Okay, this can kind of fall under both ‘personality changes’ and ‘plot changes’ but it deserves it’s own section.
In the Original Cartoon, Bloom’s home kingdom was attacked and destroyed by villains searching for something called the Dragon Flame. Bloom was a baby with said power, so her older sister sent her to Earth, a world without Magic, where she would be safe and hidden. Mike and Vanessa find her and adopt her, loving her and raising her very well. They are good parents. Bloom learns she has powers when she meets Stella, and instinctively uses Magic to protect her.
In Fate, the only thing really the same is that Bloom was sent to Earth. I’m a little unclear on why, but instead of giving her loving adoptive parents, they made her a Changeling with emotionally abusive parents! Let me elaborate a little: Instead of adopting Bloom of their own free will, Mike and Vanessa’s real child died in the hospital and was secretly replaced with Bloom. Her parents are also, as mentioned, emotionally abusive. So much so that Fate!Bloom’s powers first manifested by setting them on fire in the middle of the night.
Fun. Ain’t it?
Now onto plot points!
Again, pretty much the only thing the same is ‘Bloom discovers she has Magic, goes to another Dimension to learn at a school called Alfea. Gets into adventures with her Roomates while trying to figure out where she’s really from’.
The whole ‘Burned ones’ were.... not a thing at all. There wasn’t any kind of ‘barrier’ to keep out ‘dangerous creatures’ or anything.
I’m not going to go over every single subplot but that was just. No. They were easily allowed to go outside the school.
The whole vibe
This is a big thing to talk about. While the reboot went for ‘dark and gritty’ over the bright colors and sparkles, it also went for ‘bootleg Hogwarts’ instead of anything interesting.
In the reboot, the merging of Magic and Technloogy is mostly like. ‘Yeah we go to school in this old ass castle and we don’t use guns in weaponry class, but we have smartphones and social media and Harry Potter!”.
In the Original??? The whole world was very Magitech. It was a combination of Magic and Scifi! Kinda Steven Universe style actually.
The transformations!!!
Look. LOOK. Winx Club is a Magical Girl show! They have those beautiful transformation sequences that last a solid minute or so of screen time. And they also have like. At least one new Transformation a Season, which comes with an ungodly amount of different cool outfits.
The reboot? One transformation sequence. And while the effects are nice, Bloom doesn’t even get a new outfit. Just a few flames coming off her that look vaguely like wings.
SPEAKING OF! They are Faeries!!!! But they don’t have wings????? What????
Look idgaf about your effects budget you could’ve made the cheesiest shit like the live action Sailor Moon stuff and fans would’ve loved it!
Bonus: The fact that they didn’t have to change anything to make it ‘Dark’!
So like. Netflix decided to take all the color out of it, and make it ‘dark’ by having the characters smoke and drink and have sex and say swears.
But they.... really didn’t have to! The original cartoon was plenty dark, despite it’s colorful aesthetic! If you wanted to do a more serious reboot, you could have easily done it by focusing more on those aspects.
Hell, there are many fans who have done it. I’m one. I know a couple others as well.
anyway it’s 2:30 am and this is long af so I’ll leave it at that.

Honestly, I get why people are upset about how the shipping was handled in season 4, but seriously, why are people so triggered over kellco? They were literally nothing but a rebound ship. Neither of the characters took actual romantic interest until Tad left Kelly and Star was with Tom coincidentally. And I mean, they straight up called themselves "Break-up-Buddies".. clearly nothing good was going to come out of that.
Well, kellco was seen a little more then that.
I mean, this was a ship that had been going on and had setup for at least 2 seasons? I mean not as heavily as jarco was but still.
While Marco was dealing with the fact star was with someone else, it became clear he and kelly were starting to connect and become friends who were supporting each other through these rough times.
And a lot of people actually liked the idea of that, that these two unlikely characters going through struggles that were similar started bonding and realizing they had a lot in common.
After LLB it became obvious to the audience kelly and marco were hanging out a lot more offscreen, they hang out in monster bash, kell is implied to like marco in the holiday special, they clearly seemed to go to the wedding together in BB as almost like the other’s date (though that’s more implied then anything), marco even considers kelly to be one of the first people he calls to help with meteora….
the show doesn’t lean on them like it did with other ships, but people could clearly tell marco and kelly were having a budding friendship/romance going on, and i think people liked the fact it stemmed from these characters supporting each other through their romance issues and bonding over time.
not to mention, this was one of the few things marco had that didn’t make him so star-constant.
Marco lacked much of his own personal relationships or hobbies or plots that weren’t extremely rooted to star. Marco lost karate, school, his earth relationships mainly, any of his self discovery episodes.
He barely was in s3 unless he was in the romance plot, or doing stuff for star.
Having him have this new friendship with kelly where they support each other and have marco deal with his emotions and where marco seemed to have someone he hung out with regularly outside of mostly star and tom and that entire love triangle was probably a breath of fresh air.
And this was a thing with kelly, kelly herself seemed to be implied to be having a rough time dealing with her past relationship and the show treats her chance with marco as a chance for her to finally move on and be with someone who really understands her.
Tumblr media
Kelly’s not the most detailed and explored character but the fact they spent so much time on focusing on the fact these two were hanging out and there was some romance blooming between them, and then just instantly cut it off for no reason kinda sucks.
In ways i think people liked seeing marco with someone who shared his love of martial arts, and sword fighting, and adventures because while star kinda liked that in s1, her character is flipped a lot in s3 and 4 and it kinda seems more like kelly and marco just end up having a lot more in common.
If jackie was perfect to marco as his opposite, her chill personality working well with his safe-kid persona and worried character.
Kelly was perfect in the almost opposite direction, having a lot in common with him and matching his interests and the two of them bringing out each other’s wilder sides.
Star used to almost be an opposite, but then she got more serious and marco got more wild, and marco just seemed to mostly go on his own adventures, without her.
And the two had things in common in earlier seasons, not all that much in later ones, they don’t really hang out much tbh cause there are more episodes with star dealing with eclipsa and other matters.
in summary here i think kelly just seemed to really compliment the character marco was at the time, and people really liked the direction the show seemed to be taking with it.
like these two characters forming a friendship and support group with each other, and moving on from their heartbreak to find they like each other? That’s wholesome and would’ve been wholesome to see in the show-
Tumblr media
-if they had sticked with it.
people are triggered over kellco because the show spent it’s focus on this relationship and building this budding relationship built on support for each other through rough times….and then ended it for no reason.
like even if it was in the bg mostly, it was still a relationship the show put focus on, they even had an entire episode to get them together.
And then ended it? Without a real reason why?
Kelly and Marco’s relationship was built on support for each other and marco just goes off and ends it? Leaving Kelly once again, sad and alone and clearly heartbroken despite marco KNOWING how tad made her feel? And then they just ignore it and pretend it didn’t matter when they clearly tried to make it matter?
Marco knows how much kelly had been hurt over the tad situation and he knows how much their relationship meant to kelly to help her deal with it and move forward, and no, he doesn’t owe it to her to be with her if he doesn’t want to…..but he DID want to!
Marco actively said he didn’t really want to have feelings for star because they were in the way of these new ones for kelly. He wanted to move on and he wanted to be there to support her….expect somewhere offscreen he changed his mind.
He never interacts with kelly again after the breakup btw, their entire friendship/relationship basically goes poof and neither of them talk about it again.
I mean, the fact star and marco’s other relationships are almost treated like nothing in comparison to their own is it’s own issue, but kellco is a prime example of it.
Spent a long time on this relationship, these two are supposibly close, then after they break up marco pretty much pretends all that time we spent with him and kelly and the friendship they had meant little to him.
Doesn’t even worry when she’s on her deathbed.
Same thing with Tom, where the writers try and pretend these relationships we spent seasons on meant nothing to star and marco and we should only care about their relationship.
Having star and marco give a heck about these other relationships we spent so much time on would probably make them seem less selfish, but nah, kelly is gone forever in her own dimension? Who cares about the fact we were friends with her and she’s gone forever, we get to date now.
Breaking them up like they did removed all the good merit the show was trying to preach with their friendship.
Moving on is a thing that doesn’t seem to exist in this show as long as it’s keeping the main couple apart.
You have these episodes showing that it’s healthy for star and marco to accept they should move on for their betterment and it all entirely goes to waste because they end up together regardless because neither does move on.
Tumblr media
And this is another thing.
Kelly had nothing to do much when she wasn’t with marco.
and like, this is the same problem jackie had, but at least the show didn’t have jackie almost presented like a main character.
They presented kelly as a main character by s3 and by the end, they did nothing with her outside of her and marco’s relationship, which again, they scrapped randomly.
And kelly just never does anything after, she’s basically gone, just like jackie was, because as soon as a character is done dating star or marco they’re useless to the crew apparently and their relationships no longer matter to them.
Kelly wasn’t the deepest or most developed character, but a lot of people were attached to her, liked her relationship with marco, it would understandably piss them off to see the crew give this girl so much attention all of a sudden…
only to immediately remove her and all importance she may of had just to get starco together.
And this isn’t mentioning the fact that kellco didn’t need to exist in the first place, they didn’t develop any characters because marco goes right back to pinning over star and who knows with kelly, they didn’t have a function on the plot directly, didn’t serve to make star or anyone jealous.
It’s a relationship they spent time on, only to go nowhere with, it really had no reason to happen at all and if it was just to make kellco shippers happy….well i think they would’ve rather had no ship then the crew randomly ending the relationship quickly after and pretending it didn’t exist.
by itself, kelly’s world is a cute episode, but it’s so disappointing to see they have it and then pretend it didn’t matter at all.
why did they take so much time to get them together and focus on them if they were just going to break it off after the fact?
Tumblr media
It’s easy to be like “Oh, they were rebounds, who cares, it didn’t matter”
Clearly that’s not how everyone felt.
it seemed pretty obvious to people kellco felt like an opportunity for two characters to move on with their lives and find happiness in each other, because that’s literally how their relationship is presented several times in the series.
and with all the focus this relationship had the last thing people wanted was to see this rather wholesome relationship just be tossed aside for starco, especially since it’s entire message rode on both parties being together and getting over starco.
Kellco made people mad because:
It has no reason to exist by the end
It wastes a character they didn’t care enough about to get any resolution with marco
all the goodwill it had is removed by getting rid of it for starco
the show spent time on a relationship they ended without giving any reason for it to end
it was something entirely wholesome that people enjoyed watching because it was a step away from all this romance drama and gave marco character outside of star, and the show decided to destroy it and make marco so star-centered he seemed to lack any character or ambition or anything outside of her anymore
There’s nothing more hurtful then a show making you care about something and making you feel like it mattered and then tossing it away and spitting on it.

Here begins the year end w.i.p. dump. This year, we’re starting with some writing even though I’m hella nervous to even have this here-
Since this is a very new thing, this might be organized weird so bare in mind with me- I’ll be listing the pieces with some description, thoughts and whatever else.
But as a warning: Most stories are not edited, completed or planned to be completed and some where either quick ideas I wanted to get down or just got really into. Some stories also might have an outline I left there for things that needed to be added or whatever. Not all of them have the plot points, but a few do. Also feel free to ignore some titles, I’m sure some people can relate with just place holder stuff
Stories with friends characters
this goes here first cause I love and appreciate my friends-
CardinalS1n
Spying in Craglorn  Word Count: 3,005 With CardinalS1n’s (twitter) character, Ma’saka
This story is actually paired with the Art Fight revenge attack I did for CardinalS1n this year. On the site, I included a little bit of writing to go with the piece but then it somewhat turned into it’s own thing afterwards. Was gonna surprise them with it but I didn’t have too much motivation for this as it’s been almost two years since I’ve played ESO, so rusty knowledge is not good for my thought process or confidence in writing.
I’m pretty canon compliant and I’m not sure if it’s possible for multiple Vestige’s to exist in this, but in my own story I have one in each of the three alliance’s so frick it, combine more.
I know who’s watching them with that last point in the outline here, but I’ll keep that a secret-
emizel
Ghost training Word Count: 1,586 With emizel’s character, Red
Kinda a quick little idea I had after drawing a thing for them that will be included in a post later. Given I don’t know to much about Red, this didn’t go very far, but I imagine that her and Aura would have gotten along. Then with the Hunters being a problem for the Dweller’s, I imagine there’d be a little more protection in their friendship! Not to mention the fighting of “Let me protect you!” “No, let me protect YOU!”. but that’s not exactly in here and it’s more of a middle ground thing in this story ahkjds. Not gonna stop Red from being like that with Snatcher probably.
I did lowkey think of adding a fight in between the girls and Snatcher so he’d get off their backs. One of the instances where a small idea didn’t take over my brain. Spoiler alert: Though he’s strong, with the power of friendship (and time magic), he loses.
Wasn’t sure if Red was able to talk, but considering how she died I imagined not- Also wasn’t sure if she was part Dweller so I didn’t have her as one in here, I just know you said you were basing her looks as a spirit off them a bit.
Konan720
Brother from another timeline? Word Count: 2,376 With Konan720′s character, Julia
I started this right after I posted that drawing of him with Corona and the little kitten patch’s- I don’t know, I just liked the idea of siblings meeting in alternate timelines even if it’s no way canon, especially since Alferes and Julia share parents on different levels for different timelines. Corona was also briefly thought of being put in here but I scrapped the idea cause I wanted some adorable sibling actions.
Going into context of why he’s there; Time Piece. It’s always a Time Piece. It’s actually stored in his backpack right now and his elder sister (Hat Adult) gave it to him, basically saying “Go have an adventure of your own!”. He actually had no plans to but then during his magic training with Snatcher kinda led to him being transported to this dimension anyway. Thanks sis.
Since I stopped writing probably like halfway or so, I’ll explain where I was going with this. So when Julia returns to the park with Moonjumper, they find Alferes still there and the boy basically explains he’s been separated from his family and is kind of living in the park for now. He also confuses Moonjumper to probably no end as he keeps staring in Moonjumper’s direction often until the end (basically he can see Moonjumper even when he’s invisible and he has many questions to why his dad is here and looks different). Much to the ghosts charge in, Julia practically drags Alferes home with her so he can at least get something to eat. I’m not sure where it would go from there besides some more questioning stares and Moonjumper being cautious around him, but I know near the end when he figures out the right amount of magical output he needs to leave, Alferes speaks with Julia about his family and even shows a picture of them, surprising the girl (the photo would be of him, Aura, Moonjumper, a Rough Patch and possibly Snatcher being a nugget putting up bunny ears behind Moonjumper’s head).  Not sure what their final words to each other would have been but I know Alferes would have said something along the lines of “take care of this version of my dad for me.”
Afterwards, there would have been a little writing thing for when he returns home, Snatcher fretting over the poor boy and how they could have been in deep trouble with Aura for loosing him. Cue Aura walking up, thankfully not heard any of that, to take her boy home. Cut to them being in the city where they live (which is actually that one town in the Alpha/Beta GFB had at the end with Hat Adult singing) and Moonjumper and Hat Adult are out in the snow singing a duet and dancing. Alferes would smile thinking about how he might not have liked to go on adventures, but he was thankful his sister inadvertently put him in one, even broaching the topic with Aura about it. Then it would end with probably Moonjumper and Hat Adult dragging them into their little show before going home to celebrate their children’s return.
Halloween Encounter Word Count: 3,921 With Konan720′s character, Julia
This is was supposed to be a slight continuation to the field trip story that was written up. I didn’t get very far cause again, wasn’t sure what to add into the middle. My only ideas were for maybe going to a late night diner for food and probably catching the tail end of trick or treaters and Aura getting some compliments on her ‘costume’, but mostly had no clue.
A Hat in Time stories
Former canonical ideas I’ve changed my story, yet again, so just posting some things I’ve written that somewhat tie into the original or were part of the original.
Hunters Return Word Count: 3,551
I wrote this back when the Death timeline wasn’t the canonical story. It is now (again), but given I’m actually writing for it, not 100% sure how much of this could be incorporated into the story. I’ll still share it though.
Unused lines for the Time Travel story
I think the Time Travel story is the only writing piece I’ve written where I kept some of the other writing ideas. Some of this is alternate to what was actually published, other things were planned to be incorporated into the story. Figured I’d share even if it’s not really a story.
I’m sad the fight between Aura and Snatcher won’t happen now, as I think I was really excited for it, but I might add part of it into the new canonical story. It just really hits differently here since, well, she’s not dead and there’s a lot more hurt for Snatcher in this scenario. I might continue to write for this so I can at least get to that part though.
AU
Fairy Snatchin Word Count: 3,552
Is this... a mother fricking Hyrule Warriors x A Hat in Time story? That I wrote? This idea basically started from a drawing (which will be in another post), but brain additionally added ‘Haha what if Snatcher was Wizzro’ then we came to an idea for another drawing. But guess what? Brain also went no to the drawing and was like ‘You’re gonna write it fricker’ so here this is. The drawing idea was just gonna be Snatcher holding a little fairy Aura and it being cute. Course, now we have this.
This might be weird, especially on Snatcher’s part. Basically, this is Snatcher, Alpha/Beta Snatcher, and Wizzro’s personalities rolled into one being.
Second Chances Word Count: 2,607
Playing around with ideas can be good and bad, here we kinda have a mix- basically, this is “What if when Aura repairs the Grand Hourglass, it brings everyone Vanessa killed back to life?” This idea has been in my mind since first adding in the concept that fixing the large Time Piece returns the forest back to it’s previous state, but I felt that might have been a little weird. Now exploring it a bit more, a bit of this idea is incorporated into the canon story.
Self insert hours
Aka, listing some absolute selfshipping trash with one regular thing
Hand holding with a DJ Word Count: 4,319 No Straight Roads Self Insert scenario
Contrary to the title, there is no hand holding, I never quite got there-
You’ll also notice a parentheses note in there. That was a reminder to myself incase I forgot about the original thing mentioned.
So this was supposed to be based off of this post and originally I thought of drawing it followed by me suplexing DJ or whatever, but you see where that went. I also wrote this WAY before I got NSR, then of course when I got it, stopped this and never went back. I have different self insert shenanigans thoughts now after knowing the full story, so this is semi irrelevant-.
Basically from where I left off, it was going to be more shopping with DJ, getting at least two more text’s, one from the White 1010 (saying “Yes Ma’am! ( * ^ * )7″) and Neon J (saying “You’re dead to me”) (or something like that), then nearing the end of the night we finally reach the hand holding (*le gasp*) and then hey, DJ gives me a bag and leaves. Returning to the mansion with Neon J a little banged up and ready to play fight, but stops when he notices the bag. Opening it up, reveals it was the console looked at in the store.
The Big Parade pt 2. Word Count: 5,265 A Hat in Time Self Insert scenario
Once again, the thing in the title didn’t exactly get written-
This goes with a drawing that’ll be in another post, but they’re both based from that artwork for the Vinyl/Cassette tapes of the second take of the Big Parade. It was really cool to know it was official Snatcher played the violin and me being self shipping trash, had the idea of a duet. It was gonna be strictly the drawing but then I had an urge to try and write something self shippy as I’ve never done that before.
Basically the concert does wind up going fine in the end, only minor inconveniences to my hearing and anxiety kicking in. Then later when the little family is watching it on the TV, everyone points at themselves and gets excited. With how I am and when it comes to me being shown, that’s when everyone is being supporting nuggets and cheering for me lol
What's a ghost dragon gotta do to get some kid to leave? Word Count: 502 A Hat in Time Self Insert scenario, with a slight mention of emizel
This is so short I almost don’t want to post this. I know part of the reason I didn’t continue was because I wanted to finalize the dragon design for my actual WinttiaGloam handle then convert it to ghost for this, but never quiet did that. Hopefully I will be able to continue with this though since I found it again.
Based from emizel’s little comment about how she’s like the Hat Kid to my Snatcher.
I’d say more on what the story was going to be like, but I think I might have enough thoughts to finish it at some point. If not, I’ll be informing her of my thoughts!

Hiraeth Chapter 17: Regulation
Masterlist can be found Here!
Chapter Seventeen: Regulation
Note: Sorry the upload was a little late today. I was out of town at Microcenter trying to get a GODDAMN GRAPHICS CARD!! Ahem… sorry about that. I think you might all like where this story is going to go from here. Oh boy, do I have some ideas…
(-~-)
In truth, no one present was entirely sure what to make of the scene that they had just happened upon. While they had indeed just witnessed it, there was no easy way to actually explain it. The gigantic demonic minotaur had collapsed and was already beginning the process of becoming ash, something that they welcomed, especially considering the fact that none of them had been available to actually attempt to assist with stopping the creature’s rampage. But that was the very root of the issue.
How on earth had this intrepid stranger managed to actually do battle against such a large for on his own?
While the concept of another hunter being able to take on something beyond the classification of a lesser demon was not at all unfamiliar to them, this was something else entirely. At first glance, the quiet stranger that they had allowed to tag along on their trip with them didn't seem at all capable of doing what he had just done. If nothing else, they had assumed that he possessed some basic combat abilities. Perhaps enough to protect himself. But this… to be able to harness and wield that kind of strength…
"This is curious. To my knowledge, the Ludwig Family doesn’t have any devil hunters among their ranks. And they never have." Vergil said as he stepped forward, an intrigued look on his face. While it was true that the Ludwig family were practitioners of a variety of combat types and had been for the entirety of their existence, he had never seen one use the type of power that the redhead had just utilized, and never to the degree that he could use it. Clearly, he was proficient at a level that exceeded that of the average user, and that was something that Vergil found both fascinating given his initial impressions of the young stranger, and alarming. Normally he was better at gauging the power level of his opponents. Sirrus had flown way below his radar.
“You’re not mistaken. They do not.” Sirrus said calmly, sheathing his gleaming blade once again. While it was unclear precisely where he’d actually drawn it from, what was clear was that it had come from within his coat, and he had just returned it to its rightful resting place. But how he had managed to walk around with a blade that easily equaled the length of Yamato on him without alerting anyone to its presence was beyond any of them. Did he have access to a pocket dimension of some sort? Was their lack of interest in his capabilities what had kept them from simply not noticing it? Because if so, they needed to keep their guard up a bit better than that in the future.
An almost questioning look passed across Dante’s face as he seemed to take in the response of their new companion. Suddenly he realized that he truly didn’t know very much about him, and he found it more than a little bit disconcerting that he hadn’t really put much thought into the possibility of him posing a threat to him. The last intrepid stranger who had happened upon him in such a manner had been V, and before a few other names came to mind. Trish, Lady, Lucia… hell, even Beryl fell into that category easily enough! How many times was he going to have to learn this lesson?
“If that’s the case, then how do you know how to do… whatever that just was? And where’d ya learn to do it in the first place?” Dante interjected, noting Vergil’s silence. One could only assume that he was considering something, but despite the fact that silence was a trademark of his stoic older twin’s personality, that didn’t mean that he had ever been particularly comfortable with it. Left alone to his own devices, Vergil’s mind was just as deadly a weapon as his blade or any other ability or armament that he possessed. And if he wasn’t plotting the demise of someone or something, he was probably lingering in a sort of stasis, fixating on some lingering regret or other toxic thought. It was best to not let him idle for very long, lest he come to regret it
The man in black adjusted his coat, sliding his arm back into the long sleeve that it had once occupied. It was best that he do so, lest he accidentally allow his favorite garment to drag along the ash-covered ground. It was so incredibly difficult to get demonic ash out of this kind of material. “A reasonable enough question. And one I shall answer. But can we do it while we head back to your friend’s house? The air here had become rather unpleasant, and I’d like to stop having to breathe it. Methane and sulfur and all that. It’s bad for our lungs.”
Nero considered scoffing at the statement for a brief moment before thinking better of himself. It was best not to antagonize him, at least not until he knew how to do it without ending up cut in half or impaled like that demon. A quick glance over at V was all that it took to see that he was not alone in this assessment. The taller summoner seemed to be deep in thought, not that he wasn’t in most instances. But something about the look on his face had changed in some subtle way, and he was sure now that he was not the only one with doubts and concerns. In truth, Sirrus was still smack dab in the middle of his “suspect as hell” list, but now he was starting to wonder if he was asking the wrong questions. That didn’t mean, however, that he couldn’t ask a simple question. After all, what harm could that do?
“Okay, that makes sense. But then who the hell are you?” Nero said calmly but with an obvious tinge of unamused irritation on his face. He wasn’t sure he knew what to think of him at this point, and while he didn’t exactly perceive him as a threat, the fact that he hadn’t informed them that he possessed that kind of power made him slightly uneasy. Or maybe in some small ways he had. After all, Sirrus’s calm demeanor in most threatening situations should have tipped him off as a possible indicator of this kind of power, but Nero had no way of knowing for sure. But he wouldn’t put it past him to play those sorts of games with them. He just seemed odd in that kind of way.
Sirrus shrugged nebulously at the comment as it if didn’t affect him much or he had been asked the question before enough times to have expected it. “Again, I have next to nothing against telling you, but not here. I simply don’t desire to linger here any longer than I must. It isn’t ideal.”
Life rarely was, as far as Vergil was concerned, but he was willing to accommodate his request if for no other reason than the fact that after such a long time in the underworld, the scent of sulfurous gas and the presence of ash in the air around them hit far to close to home. He had enjoyed a reprieve from such foul substances for a few weeks now, and he was not at all eager to reintroduce himself to them. Leaving would, in fact, be best for more than one reason.
Very well, then. That is agreeable.” The eldest Son of Sparda said as he turned in the direction that they had come from, somewhat unsurprised to find that he could still see the road from here. The fountain was going to make a wonderful mess of that plaza soon enough, but at least the piece of metal from the demon bull’s fallen weapon had dissipated. The less evidence of their presence here, the better. “But let’s make haste. Something is entirely off about this situation, and I do not desire to be at the mercy of its wrath any longer than I must be.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Sirrus said simply before following the white-haired half-devil in the blue coat. Thankfully they didn’t seem eager to put up much of a fuss about it, and there was a simple explanation for what he had done. Well, at least it was simple for him. Nothing was simple when it came to his life, and this was no exception, but at least it was one of the few questions that he could easily answer that wouldn’t have catastrophic consequences outside of his control.
(-~-)
The walk back had been uneventful and quick, so nothing of any particular note had even a scrap of hope of occurring. Before any of them could even begin to think of where to start or fire up the part of their brain that existed to do critical thinking, they had arrived back at Lucia and Matier’s shared home, and more importantly, at the shared realization that it would be easier to just have this conversation at the house instead of on the way to it.
“Alright then, we’re here. So what’s the deal, then? How are you able to do all that?” Dante asked as he reclined on the couch. Lucia’s place had some very comfortable furniture, and he was more than happy to capitalize on the opportunity to enjoy it. It was nice to sit back and relax a little bit sometimes. “I’m not that good with magic or whatever you’d call that, but I’ve never seen a human use that kind of power.”
Lucia stepped forward as she closed the front door to the living room, allowing the door to close before she spoke. The fewer interruptions, the better. At least as far as she was concerned. And while she knew next to nothing about this stranger, what was going on, it what was even going on in the first place, she did know what he was curious as to what he could do. And if he was willing to explain himself to them, then it was probably best to take him up on his offer and allow him to actually tell them what was going on.
“Perhaps we’re just asking the wrong questions.” She said politely as she entered the living room and found a place to sit. There were a lot more people here than she was used to, but she didn’t particularly mind given the circumstances. In fact, she was almost glad that everyone seemed to be so comfortable in her small home. It was a welcome change of pace. “Maybe it isn’t about how he did that, but more about what he did and what he’d have to be in order to do it.
A soft sigh escaped Sirrus’s lips as he glanced over at her. Yes, she was as smart as she was pretty, wasn’t she? That was good to know. For all he knew, her intellect and perceptive nature might come in handy in the near future. “Your quite right. I’m a member of the Ludwig family through marriage. Or more accurately, through a divorce. Two of them each, actually.” His facial expression changed slightly for a moment as though he were recalling an unpleasant memory. After a moment, he continued despite the fact that something about his demeanor had changed. He was so reserved in the first place that it was hard to pinpoint what had changed, but something had indeed done so. “But regardless, I do not possess the limitations that many of them do in regards to their power as a result. I do apologize for not volunteering to tell you what was going on sooner, but I think you can understand the desire to not expose yourself to those that you do not know, especially you’ve not yet had a reason. I think that everyone like us desires anonymity, privacy, and normality to some degree. I hope you can respect that.”
Dante exhaled and leaned back slightly. Yes. Yes, he did understand that feeling. It was all too familiar to him. While a part of him did in fact still yearn for the possibility of that being true, there was a part of him that knew it wasn’t something he could easily obtain, if at all. More than likely it was a false hope, but he still hoped nonetheless. “Yea, I get that. Makes sense. Keep going?”
Sirrus nodded. “My biological parents are much like yours in that they are two completely different beings that hale from wildly different backgrounds, but I do not feel at all comfortable explaining who either of them is, or saying anything beyond that.” He said, gesturing towards Dante and Vergil respectively, his casual demeanor hiding his underlying anxiety much better than either of them realized. “What I can say is that my power is a direct result of their union. It isn’t a learned skill like it is for the Ludwigs. They are born with an aptitude for learning magic. I was born with inborn gifts. Mine simply differs from yours due to parentage and the fact that I am not what you are, but the principle is still the same. I hope that makes some measure of sense.”
“I understand that in a way,” Lucia interjected, shrugging softly in discomfort as she remembered her origins. It was a difficult subject, and one that she didn’t touch on lightly. After all, she’d spent a while fulling coming to grips with the truth herself. “I can understand why you didn’t say anything. But I don’t think anyone here would have had a problem with that knowledge. I mean, at least I think not.”
Dante shrugged and Vergil made some sort of motion akin to a shrug, but didn’t say anything. Nero and Nico both shared a glance over at V before doing much the same, both of them slightly unnerved by his persistent silence. Was he being affected by the knife again? “Yea, none of us can really say anything. Nico is basically the only totally normal person here. That is, if you can call whatever the hell she has going on “normal.” But she’d human either way.”
Nico punched Nero playfully in the shoulder. “Yea, what this stupid jerk is sayin is pretty much spot on, aside from me being that weird. He’s done some pretty weird crap, so I guess he can say that about himself. But me, I’m just a regular old human who’s along for the ride. If you need any extra weirdness, you’d have to talk to basically anyone else in this room. Well, except Lucia. She seems pretty cool.”
Lucia held her hand up to her face to stifle the slight giggle that she felt coming on. Nico was quite the character from what she could tell. And that was just fine by her. But she still needed to find out what everyone was doing on the island in the first place. It wasn’t that she wasn’t glad to see Dante. What was most certainly not the case now, and she highly doubted that it ever would be. But if she had to guess, she’d be willing to say that he was here for a reason.
Sirrus seemed amused by the young gunsmith’s response. “Your all quite right. I’m simply unaccustomed to being forthcoming about these sorts of things, especially towards people I’ve only recently met. But your kindness is most apreciated. Thank you.”
The lovely redhead nodded and turned towards the rest of the group, making herself comfortable. “Okay. Well, that’s a relief. Now that we’ve had that conversation and everything is sorted out a little better than it was before, I have to ask… what brings you to the island again so soon, Dante?! Last time you were gone quite a while longer than you were this time! I know that the circumstances are vastly different, but my point still stands. Did you just so happen to be in the area and thought you’d stop by to see me again?”
Dante laughed lightly, craning his head to one side. He had indeed missed Lucia in the time that they’d been away, there was no denying it. But unfortunately, there were not there as a lovely leisure retreat. They had work to do. He shook his head to indicate that he was saying no to her question, earning him a bashful but unabashed look from his longtime friend. Truly he washed that he was wrong, but he wasn’t.”
“Not as such. We’ve come to return something to you. At least from what I understand. Venturing all the way out here was Dante’s idea.” Vergil said flatly, not at all in the mood for this kind of friendly banter. When he’d returned after his prolonged absence, he’d nearly been shot down a flight of stairs by Magnolia. And that was to say nothing of his arrival back from the underworld. Dante had received quite the welcome wagon in comparison.
She gave him a curious look as he pointed to the box behind her. As the realization of what it contained kicked in, she gasped quietly, covering her face with her mouth. “That box… what’s supposed to be inside of it is… that’s not supposed to… please tell me it’s empty? Please.” A shake of the head from Nero was all that it took for an almost mournful look to cross her face. “Oh, please forgive me for the trouble! I hate to say it, but I had no idea that it was gone. Some Guardian I am… Either way, thank you for returning it safely back to where it belongs. Do you recall where you found it by any chance? I’d like to investigate. Something this sacred just vanishing without a trace and without my mother or myself noticing is worrisome, to say the least.”
V finally decided to speak up, snapping out of the state of quiet contemplation that he’d previously found himself in. “Oh, I remember precisely where they found that knife. If you look hard enough, I’m almost sure you’d still be able to find my blood on it. But at least it’s been returned to where it belongs now.”
Lucia gave him a sympathetic look as if she understood what he was alluding to. “I’m so sorry to hear that you were hurt. I am glad to see that you are alright. I would be remiss to hear that my inaction lead to your untimely death, much as I am to hear that you were harmed in the first place.” She looked back at the blade again for a moment just in time to miss V turning away to look out of the window, mildly embarrassed by her kind words. He wasn’t accustomed to such kindness. Lucia was truly wonderful. “I will return it to its rightful resting place as soon as I have a chance. And this time, I’ll make sure that all of the traps are turned back on. Not just some of them. But I get the feeling that that isn’t all you need help with?”
Dante shook his head. “No, sorry to say that it isn’t. You up to going on another little trip with me to help out again?
She gave the youngest of Sparda’s two sons a polite smile. “Yes, absolutely.”
(-~-)
I’m suddenly very sleepy, and it’s only 10:58 pm. Maybe it’s just the stormy weather. The entire plate of alfredo I’m about to eat isn’t going to do me any favors, either. Oh well, see you next week! And thanks for checking this chapter out! Now off to the comment section!

Writer Meta Meme
I decided to do all the questions on this meme :)
1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
My current project is Concubinage, my gaiwin arranged marriage AU. It started as a random, entirely self-indulgent idea, but it has since grown into an actual project. Progress is good, I’ve managed to do bi-monthly updates and I have 30k in my drafts so far.
What I love the most about it is that, since it’s an AU, I’m pretty free to do whatever I want. I don’t have to be too careful of timelines and so on. Plus, in this AU, Gaius and Wingul are able to get closer than they otherwise would, due to the different circumstances. They have their own trials, but it’s different than in the canon timeline.
Another current project is Tales of Xillia Week, but I didn’t get much inspiration for it so I think I’m gonna do meta/headcanon posts more than fics ^^;
2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
I’m looking forward to getting to the part where it’s just domestic fluff haha. It’ll take a while to reach that point though.
3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)
Not just one scene ig, but I’ve been wanting to write one-shots showing how the Chimeriad survived, and... haven’t gotten around to planning it. So it’s pretty low on my project list tbh.
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
I have... a few, but they’re all spoilers for future chapters XD;;
5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
I don’t... really identify with characters. I mean, they’re pretty different than me in personality, life and circumstances...
6. What character do you have the most fun writing?
I love writing Gaius and Wingul of course, but Agria’s probably the most fun. She’s completely unrestrained, which makes her pretty easy and fun to let loose XD
7. What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?
Exposition and worldbuilding XD
I can’t help it, I always need to develop the setting...
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
Yes. I would love it if more people wrote gaiwin XD
9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?
I used to be more of a ficlet writer, but I’m currently doing well with a longfic XD
As for the rest, it varies. I like to plot and outline a bit, but it’s often rather loose and I let inspiration guide me.
10. How would you describe your writing process?
Wait for inspiration time, energy and motivation to align.
11. What do you envy in other writers?
Those who update super long fics every week. How do you do it????
12. Do you want your writing to be famous?
Naah, I’m fine in my corner of fandom. Though I wouldn’t say no to a few more readers, if only to know that the ship still sails xD
13. Do you share your writing online? (Drop a link!) Do you have projects you’ve kept just for yourself?
Yep, I post on AO3. And all projects are meant to be posted one day, but some aren’t simply because they aren’t finished.
14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
The beginning, usually, but I might change it
15. Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?
Tags are easy. Titles and summaries are hard, and I always end up with something boring but heh, as long as they get the meaning across...
16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)
It was last year, but I tried first person pov with my Agria fic, because that fits her well. I’d like to try poetry, maybe.
17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?
I have no idea tbh. When I write, I like to imagine what my readers will think (especially like when I write funny scenes, I hope they’ll make people laugh), but idk if it’s exactly like I think.
18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.
In Concubinage, I considered adding a plotline where Arst met an ex and had to deal with complicated feelings about it -- being reminded how it was to be in a loving relationship vs political marriage, craving intimacy like he used to have with said ex, etc. I ended up scrapping the idea though.
I also have... two or three possible ways things can play out in a much later plotpoint, and I think I’m pretty sure of which way I’ll go already, but the other possibilities exist. Maybe I’ll make a post about all abandoned plotlines one day...
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
“And, but, and, but...” XD;
Also characters often find themselves doing something before they knew it...
My style is probably pretty repetitive. I’m not a native speaker, and I feel limited sometimes...
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
Concubinage is the result of watching too many sageuk and  taiga drama. No I’m not sorry.
When writing AU, I always like to include “cameo” of the original storyline (for example, as the plot of a book, or treating the canon games as a fractured dimension in Chimeriad Live AU’s, etc)
In Fractured Lives, I try to alternate Wingul and Gaius’ pov. It’s probably gonna bite me in the ass when some plot points work better in one pov but the chapter requires the other. I’ll probably have to come up with some fillers or something...
I have extensive headcanon about Auj Oule’s geography, history etc, which pops up in a lot of (planned) fics. Even if it’s different fics/AU’s (ex. Concubinage vs my pre-game gaiwin project vs the Wingul fic I was writing for the big bang), I reuse the same settings and OC’s. Most of those aren’t written/posted yet so it’s pretty self-contained for now, but if I ever get to completing those projects I hope it won’t be too confusing to readers who don’t follow all the stories...
21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)
If I had the art skills, I’d love to turn some of them into comics ;A;
22. Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?
Sometimes. Usually because I need to refresh my memory before writing a new chapter XD
23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?
That project to write the whole pre-game Gaius & Wingul history, that’s something I’ve been wanting since forever. Well, I originally wanted to read it, but since no one’s gonna do it, I started thinking I should write it. It’s gonna be a huge project though...
24. Would you say your writing has changed over time?
I honestly have no idea. I do sense a difference in that it’s much easier for me to just write now; I guess habit helps. But I have no idea if style changed or anything lol.
25. What part of writing is the most fun?
Filling the tag with my OTP XD

How It Should Have Ended: Star vs. the Forces of Evil
The finale is two hours instead of only half an hour. Star still decides to destroy magic, but when she goes out, she’s waylaid by Seth, who is revealed to still be alive. Joining him is Toffee, who, as it turns out, still had a tiny bit enough to regenerate. Rasticore (who is now fully reformed) comes to join Seth and Toffee, which is when Seth reveals that Mewmans had killed his father, so Seth sent Toffee to kill Moon’s mother. Star tries to tell them about Mina’s rampage, but they don’t listen to her. The brawl goes to Mina and her troops, and Star finds that Mina has already imprisoned Eclipsa. Star uses a Destroying Spell on Mina, but Mina is unaffected and starts laughing. Then, to the shock of everyone else, Mina reveals a startling secret: she’s actually a monster herself! And her real name is not even Mina; it’s Zanxibara! Seth says he recognizes her and they used to be friends, and Mina reveals another gut punch: she was the one who killed Seth’s father, and she tricked Seth into thinking Mewmans had done it!
Realizing he’d condemned an innocent person to death, Seth goes into a breakdown, which horrifies Star. Just then, Ludo and his family come to see if Star can make peace with them, only to find Zanxibara about to go on a rampage. Rasticore goes to battle Zanxibara, but she knocks him into acid, dissolving him completely and leaving nothing (not even his right arm) behind. Ludo and Star look on in utmost horror, and then, Ludo jumps after Zanxibara, only to be caught by her, and Dennis dies trying to save him. Ludo’s parents, who were among the monsters Zanxibara had rounded up, are quite shocked by this, unable to comprehend why Dennis would still want to associate with who they consider a failure. This angers Star, who proceeds to open a can of (verbal) whoop-ass on them for their callousness and inability (or unwillingness) to comprehend that blood is thicker than water. Zanxibara takes this opportunity to send everyone down to an underground dungeon, allowing her (and Manfred, who’d willingly joined her) to conquer more land.
Just when all seems lost, however, Star and Marco come across a figure trapped, not in one of Rhombulus’ crystals, but in ice. After she is unfrozen, the figure reveals that she is the real Mina Loveberry. Years ago, Zanxibara kidnapped her, trapped her in ice (leaving her aware just to prolong her suffering), and stole her identity. Glad to have a new ally, Star realizes that it was actually misuse of magic, not magic in and of itself, that caused all these problems, and recruits Mina to take down Zanxibara. Mina transports everyone hit by Solaria’s sword beams to the Healing Grounds to heal them, and once everyone has recovered, Star takes everyone for the final battle.
Meanwhile, Zanxibara and Manfred are discussing their plans to conquer not just Mewni, but all dimensions. Star sends Marco and Janna to Earth to warn everyone and takes everyone else to fight. Zanxibara sends her troops to take down our heroes, but all of the previous queens’ ghosts come to Star’s aid. In a fit of rage, Manfred steals Star’s Dimensional Scissors and uses them to transport himself and Zanxibara to Earth.
Unfortunately for the villains, Echo Creek is ready for them. Marco, Janna, and all of the other Earth characters who have ever appeared in the show take on Mina’s troops. Manfred gets killed, but Zanxibara doesn’t care; she simply casts a spell on Marco, brings out Monster Arm, and turns him into a full-fledged separate being. Monster Arm battles Marco and almost kills him, but Jeremy (of all people) comes to Marco’s rescue and slices the Monster right in half with a karate chop. After a bloody battle, Zanxibara realizes her minions are all dead and Marco’s army is still numerous, so she uses the Dimensional Scissors (which Manfred had given to her) to escape back to Mewni.
This is just what Star was waiting for. Using her Mewberty form, she blasts Zanxibara, severely weakening her. In agony, Zanxibara apologizes and begs for mercy, but when a Truth Spell shows this apology to be insincere, Star and her army use Solaria’s sword beams on Zanxibara, causing her to explode.
With the Mewmans and Monsters finally at peace (albeit with a heavy cost), Star goes back to Earth and thanks Marco for being instrumental to Zanxibara’s defeat. Britney comes and says Star is invited to any one of her parties. Ludo makes peace with his parents, Seth and Toffee make peace with the Butterfly family, and the Magic High Commission realize what complete assholes and jerkasses they’ve been and decide to atone for their sins (Glossaryck even makes peace with Reynaldo). Best of all, Star and Marco finally become a couple.
(Edited for clarity)
Thanks for the submission, Erinne. While I personally would rather scrap every episode starting at Sad Teen Hotline and start over, your solution would work best if it was the plot of just the final episode. Though you would have to change a few things about the previous episodes, particularly the end of TTatEotM.
I particularly like the twist that the Mina we know today is actually NOT the Mina from Solaria’s (or even Moon’s) day. I also like that Star realizes that the correct solution to her problem is not to destroy magic, but to preserve its integrity. I feel like, since it is his job, Glossaryck could help her come to this revelation.
However, I do not like that so many characters died here. I get what you were going for, but I don’t really think that a lot of deaths fits the tone of the show. One or two heroic sacrifices and villain deaths would be in order, though. Moon maybe for the heroic sacrifice part, and definitely Zanxibara for the villain. Manfred would live in my version, but he would probably either run off during the battle to lay the groundwork for a sequel or get fired and arrested for his crimes.
Here’s another idea for how Zanxibara could return to Mewni:
Zanxibara returns to Mewni after being beaten on earth. Fortunately, Star and her allies are there to stop her. But it soon becomes clear that Star’s forces are no match for the giant mecha robot that is standing before them. Suddenly, Zanxibara issues a challenge: she will fight one person, mono-a-mono, with the winner taking the battle and control of Mewni. Nobody wants to do it. But just when all hope seems lost, Star steps up and accepts the challenge. Zanxibara scoffs at the notion that a little girl could defeat her, so she decides to make it fair by taking off all her armor. Star shoots a narwhal out of her hands (bringing back the hand-magic from the season premiere) and it impales Zanxibara. This severely weakens her. Then we get to the insincere apology and the truth spell that you mentioned.
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting from this submission, but this definitely wasn’t it. But even though I wasn’t expecting this, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. I liked it a lot. Thanks again for submitting! I hope you like the changes I suggested. 😉

Episode Review- The Real Ghostbusters: Chicken, He Clucked
Tumblr media
So…. could this episode be considered a PG version of Doctor Faustus?  Or am I just giving the writers too much credit?
In this episode, they jump right into it by introducing the viewing audience to a man called Cubby (not sure if that was just a nickname or if his parents were that cruel).  As bad luck would have it, his apartment is located next door to a section of the city that’s dominated by a bunch of chicken restaurants and food stalls. Which doesn’t make much sense, in hindsight.  You wouldn’t have a Kentucky Fried Chicken, a Popeye’s and a Chick-fil-A located on the same block.  I imagine the competition would lead to at least one of those particular restaurants closing down.  Anyway, Cubby is quickly losing his mind over how he’s constantly smelling chicken, as it’s getting to the point where the smell has even attached itself to his clothes. The final straw comes when he retreats to the park to try and clear his head and a random woman remarks that he smells like a chicken.  That single comment makes Cubby snap completely.  And rather than simply stock up on a bunch of Febreeze products, he vows to rid the world of chickens for good.
It then cuts to the New York Public Library, where the Ghostbusters are all checking out some books.  While wearing their work uniforms for some reason.  (Maybe they stopped there after completing a job?)  Peter, being Peter, decides to try hitting on the lady manning the check-out desk.  Though she’s having none of Peter’s flirting, as she seems to only be interested in Egon, who approaches the desk with an impressive armload of books.  (The lady was even wearing a perfume called Essence of Fungus to get his attention.  Wonder if Janine ever considered that.)  Egon remarks that there were three books he couldn’t find of the shelves- Spirit Summoning and Conjurations, Lochmore’s Guide to the Lower Regions and the latest volume of Who’s Who and Want’s That. The Librarian informs him that those three books had already been checked out.  As she announces this, she directs Egon’s attention to Cubby, who is standing nearby reading one of the checked-out books.  After looking at Cubby for a few seconds, Egon pulls out his P.K.E. Meter to determine if Cubby is indeed human.  Which seems like an odd thing to do, but then again, the animators did design Cubby to look particularly unusual, and he seems a bit emaciated.  Egon then approaches Cubby to offer him a warning about the books he’d checked out, as their contents could be extremely dangerous.  However Cubby paid him no mind and simply ran off, ranting about chickens.
We then get a short filler scene of the Ghostbusters back at the Firehouse.  Here, we see the book Peter had been checking out while coming onto the Librarian was actually a pop-up book.  Which makes the claims he made to the Librarian over how well-read he was laughable. Also, Egon is in the middle of puzzling over some complex equation and trying to solve it.  In a surprising turn of events, Slimer floats by and, after studying the chalkboard where Egon had the equation written out, manages to solve it almost instantly.  So apparently, Slimer has been holding out on us and actually has an advanced understanding of math and physics.  Even though Egon, upon glancing at what Slimer wrote, remarks that he misplaced a decimal, that’s wildly impressive.
Of course, we still have to deal with the actual plot of the episode, so the focus then switches back to Cubby, who recites an incantation he found within his library books.  As he finishes the incantation, we see what is going on in the Nether World. Which turns out to resemble an office of some sort, with a demon manning the desk.  (Think Juno’s office from Beetlejuice.)  The Clerk Demon summons another demon called Morganon, informing him that there’s been a Class 5 Summoning and that he’s to see to it.  So Morganon appears before Cubby, telling him that he will grant his wish in exchange for his soul.  Cubby agrees to this, stating that his wish is that all the chickens in the world would disappear forever.  This throws Morganon for a loop, as the request was simply ludicrous, and a complete waste of his demonic abilities.  He attempts to persuade Cubby to wish for something better, but to no avail. Cubby just wants all the chickens to go away.  In the end, Morganon relents, giving Cubby the ability to make anything disappear or reappear at his command.
The next morning, Cubby puts his new power to the test, using it to make all the chickens in the world vanish.  And in the next moment, countless vortexes materialize, sucking up chickens from farms worldwide and teleporting them away.  Cubby even manages to make the two ton plaster chicken statue from P.J.’s Chicken vanish.  Naturally, the disappearance of every single chicken on Earth makes the news, and when the Ghostbusters hear of it, Egon instantly remembers his brief encounter with Cubby at the New York Public Library and adds it all up.  So they return to the library to ask the Librarian if she could give then Cubby’s address.  Which I think might be a violation of the Library Bill of Rights or something, but the Librarian agrees to this, on account of how it’s a favor for Egon.  She also gives him her address as well.  (Lady, you better hope Janine doesn’t find out about this.  I don’t think she’d like this one bit.)
The Ghostbusters soon show up at Cubby’s place to confront the man.  But this ultimately doesn’t go well, as Cubby ends up using his power to send the Ghostbusters to the same dimension he’d sent the chickens.  This leads to a rather nerve-racking scene where the Ghostbusters appear miles above the ground in the alternate dimension.  And because gravity works the same way in this dimension as it does in ours, they all start to plummet downwards.  And unlike the chickens, who they pass by on the way down, they don’t have wings.  So this presents an obvious problem: how are they going to survive this fall?  While Ray suggests rewiring the Proton Packs to provide them with an alternate thrust, Egon calculated that they only had 47 seconds before they hit the ground, and he would need 70 seconds to complete such a rewiring.
Thankfully, one second before impact, the Ghostbusters were all conveniently transported into the Nether World by Morganon.  (Nice timing there).  Morganon, who had previously been aware of the Ghostbusters’ existence, had decided to step in and save them in the hopes that they could help reverse the bargain he’d struck with Cubby.  It turns out that the other demons in the Nether World had heard about it, and now Morganon’s reputation is in shreds.  The Ghostbusters agree to help Morganon out on the condition that he returns them back to New York.  Upon being returned to the Firehouse, they hatch a plan to trick Cubby to bring all the chickens back.  In order to do so, they construct some rather realistic-looking robotic chickens. Which is something that threw me for a loop.  So the Ghostbusters can build robots now?  That’s kinda cool.
With the robot chickens in tow, the Ghostbusters return to Cubby’s place.  Cubby is stunned to see them, as he was sure he’d made them vanish for good.  The Ghostbusters tell Cubby that they figured out how to come back on their own.  And they even managed to bring back the chickens as well.  To prove their point, they show Cubby the robot chickens they stored in the back of Ecto-1.  Cubby, falling for the trick, tries to make the chickens disappear once again by telling the chickens to ‘go back where you came from.’  However, this statement just made all the real chickens return to Earth once again, much to Cubby’s despair.  And with the chickens back where they belong, Morganon was able to break the contract he made with Cubby and take back his ability to make things disappear and reappear.  Morganon then thanks the Ghostbusters for their assistance before cryptically stating that he’d see one of them again.  While he doesn’t elaborate on this, Egon, Ray and Winston all immediately look over at Peter, clearly speculating that he was the one Morganon was referring to.  Of course, we never really find out if they were right in their suspicion, as Morganon never appears after this episode.
As the episode comes to a close, we see the Ghostbusters have brought Cubby to a psychiatric hospital so he could get the help he needed. Which was probably the best thing they could have done for the guy.  However, it seems Cubby might not be off the hook completely.  When one of the orderlies brings Cubby his dinner, it’s revealed that it’s actually Morganon, deciding to torture Cubby a bit more by bringing him some chicken.
So, does this mean Cubby’s soul is still Morganon’s property? After all, it was stated that Cubby would have to sell his soul in exchange for his request to be granted. Would that have been rendered null and void when Morganon took back Cubby’s power?  Or does the soul bit still stand, considering Cubby actively used the powers he got from Morganon?  I guess that’s open to interpretation.  Either way, it’s a bit of a shame that this is the last we see of Morganon.  Much like the Ghost Umpire from Night Game, he was an interesting character.  Not to mention how they both made cryptic statements suggesting they might encounter the Ghostbusters again, despite it never actually happening within the show. I wonder if there had been plans to have those two return at some point, only to have those plans scrapped for whatever reason.  I guess we’ll never know.

Note
I understand you're not continuing City of Infamed but I was just wondering what the plot was for that story? I don't think I got around to reading that one and was curious. Thank you for your time.
Prepare for a long ass explanation, so here we go;
Basically, it was going to be a cyberpunk AU where AFO was the ruler, Endeavor was working for him to keep his family safe, and Dabi was sent on a mission to infiltrate the League, in this case a group originally formed by Tomura, working against AFO.
Their gang was going to be more of a rebel type, where they have a bad rep amongst citizens, but are actually the good guys. Dabi would’ve learned this overtime while being there, and also fallen in love with their manic, chaotic leader, who knew the whole time Dabi was a spy. He would even mess with Dabi a little, make him think he was gonna do or make Dabi do something horrible, only to reveal it was all a bluff. (Had a specific scene involving Mustard in regards to this one)
The twists (yes, twists because there were gonna be many because, well, it’s how I roll heh) were that
Tomura let Dabi join because he was actually in contact with Rei the whole time, and she’d asked him to save her son from AFO’s grasp somehow. The Todoroki family (apart and without Enji’s (and Dabi’s’ knowledge) had been working with the rebels the whole time, both because they could tell the supreme ruler is an ass, and because they wanted to save both Enji and Dabi who were basically forced to work for him. (Enji wasn’t gonna be as horrible of a parent here basically)
Tomura was going to have a ’Sensei’ in the story, but it would’ve been revealed later on that the person he calls that is actually OFA and not AFO. OFA lives in an island where all the people the empire oppresses go to hide and be safe, and Tomura also brings people there
Tomura was still in fact, once AFO’s heir, but due to some unspecified event I hadn’t fully decided on yet, he ended up in OFA’s island, and there learned that his master was actually a shit person. His time there made him turn his back to AFO and start the whole rebel thing. He also met Spinner there, who was his first proper friend.
There was also this whole thing with my character Kain basically pretending to work for AFO and be a huge threat to Tomura’s gang (or rather, Dabi was made to think so) only for it to turn out that he was actually helping them, because OfA helped Ryuu who’d gotten severely injured during some shenanigans they’d had in this dimension.
There was also something about Izuku, but can’t remember what it was anymore.
That’s all I can remember anymore honestly. I just couldn’t stop but feel like this story was basically going to be a reharsal of Crossroads in a way with a bit of Violinist Tomura vibes mixed in, only somehow more boring to me as a writer.
I think the final nail in the coffin for this one in truth though, was Family Secrets.
After creating Hisashi’s version of him, I just didn’t find the idea of writing your run-in-the-mill AFO interesting anymore, and he would’ve had a large presence in the story.
.....it’s kinda fun admittedly to explain a scrapped story, I get to share the most exciting parts without spoiling anything, because I’m actually not going to write the whole thing.
