note : i'm so eff-ing tired i'm sorry if it's not that great of a work. it's my first one for this fandom so if you want co come ask for a request don't feel too shy. (i only write x reader tho, no pairing please.)

Liyue Habor's walls seemed to stretch endlessly into a myriad of ever more eccentric buildings. The stores lined the avenue, their owners shouting their slogans as loud as they could as customers gathered. You sighed, tired of all this noise. The man beside you seemed much happier to be in the economic center of Teyvat. His eyes shone with anticipation as a smile graced his lips. Liyue's blazing sun gave his ginger hair a golden hue. A heartwarming smile caught your lips as your hand grabbed Childe's. The latter had turned around, his smile ever as sincere when it comes to you before he deposed a kiss against your cheek.

It was almost two weeks in since you had set foot in uncharted territory in search of information. Every day was filled ; between "professional" meetings and reporting to the Tsaritsa by quick letters, both of you were overwhelmed by responsabilities. For the first time since your arrival, you could finally spend a day in the company of your lover.

“ To what do I owe this sudden surge of affection? „

He laughed, stretching the lines of his face in an expression you adored more than anything. You only shook your head and tightened the embrace you held around his hand. You never knew how to explain all the feelings that were burning in your body, from the faint sparkles in your stomach to the happy beating of your heart. Around Childe, you couldn't explain how happy you were. Finally, with a smile on your face, you stopped in front of one of Liyue's many stores.

Without waiting, Childe had his arms wrapped around your belly, resting his chin on top of your head as you looked at the different perfumes that were on display. Gently, his fingers caressed the fabric that covered (to his greatest misfortune) your skin. The Fatui would have liked this moment to last forever, to be able to be close to you and love you without having to put a barrier, without having to hide. Your voice pulled him out of his thoughts and he opened his eyes to rest his gaze on your face.

“ Should i go for The Golden House Maiden one or for the Valley Weaver one? One is sweet but the other one is.. Refined. I don't know.. „

Your eyes juggled between the two scents and Childe couldn't help but smile at the silly question. He was far from being a great connoisseur of perfumes. Probably that Zhongli would have been of more help with this matter. However, he had detached one of his arms from your body to grab a sample of perfume, then the other, before making a perplexed face.

“Both smell good.. Why not just take both ? ,,

After all, Childe had enough money to offer you both perfumes, no matter how expensive they could be. The Northland Bank would surely not go and check where nor how he spends the money entrusted to him as long as the results of his mission are conclusive.

Although your two missions are quite different, you were both sent as a team to Liyue. Two harbingers in the same place, something that rarely happened. But neither of you would complain, on the contrary. While the time you spend together here is lesser, the time you spend together in Snezhnaya is nearly non-existent. Finally, after months of chasing informations, targets, and downpours, you could get together and share time together.

The perfume store had been the last store you visited before entering your respective hotel rooms. The ghost of a smile still graced your lips as you opened the door to your bedroom, placing the multiple bags on the bed. A sigh emanated from your throat before dropping down beside the bags. A well-deserved rest after this long day of shopping.

However, you knew that this rest wouldn't last long. In less than two hours you had to be back in town with Childe to go to the restaurant with several of his encounters. A sigh, but you were still proud of him for gathering so many informations in such a short amount of time. His flirtatious side was helping him, you were sur about it. After all, you knew him all too well. It was this side of him that made you fall in the first place for Childe. Over time, you got to know other sides of him ; his tender side and his smiles in the morning, his most delicate but also the most sensual of his touches, his wandering hands but how so warm and reassuring, way bigger than yours, his different smiles, his family but also his secrets, his humor, his fears, his preferences. Childe was a complex man, but far from complicated to love. It was almost natural, like he was a magnet, attracting friendship and love from others without even having to try. With a simple smile.

Finally, you got up, deciding to take a quick bath before the evening that awaited you. Maybe you could get Childe back to your room without anyone noticing. God, how you missed his touch. You couldn't suppress a sigh as you soaped your body, deciding to change the course of those invasive thoughts. It was time for preparations rather than the idea of Childe undressed.

A few days ago you couldn't help but buy a long black dress open at the side. It was displayed in the shop, the lace on the top of the bust making the model's chest all the more beautiful and round. Without hesitation, you went in and out with the dress. A smile painted on your lips as you already imagined yourself in this beautiful dress.

The sun was setting on the horizon, giving Liyue a whole different face. Dry and dressed, you stood in front of the bathroom mirror, trying to put on a good makeup to pay homage to the gorgeous dress that adorned your body. Soon it was the turn of your hair to be tamed in a hairstyle that you had seen in a magazine : “Liyue Daily Fashion”.

As you made sure everything looked perfect, several knocks were heard on the door of your hotel room. Childe, dressed in a much more serious white suit than his usual outfit, stood in front of you once you opened it. You couldn't help but laugh, leaving Childe to pout.

“ Do i look that dumb, darling? „

You could only shake your head before you came up on your tiptoes to kiss his pouting lips. Your hands had gently grasped the collar of his shirt to straighten it.

“ It's rare to see you in an outfit so.. Professional. I never expected to see you in a suit until our wedding day. „

You both smiled at the thought of a possible marriage before he took your hand in his, kissing it tenderly. Kindly, he asked you if you were ready to go. You had gone to get your purse before joining him, locking the door as you left.

The streets of Liyue Harbor had nothing to do with those of this afternoon, as if you were both in a completely different city. The lights lit up the buildings in a festive manner, as various stores opened their doors. The alleys were much more darker, giving them a grim contrast while the fanciest restaurants had opened their doors, revealing the most beautiful gildings. It was all breathtaking and you couldn't help but wonder what the temples must have looked like overnight. Maybe you could save this idea for a future date with Childe.

The restaurant you were meeting at was not as far away anymore and from here you could already see an elegant-looking man sitting next to a much smaller woman whose hair was adorned with flowers you had never seen. A small person floated beside them, visibly lost in a story she was telling the two people who accompanied her. The sight made you smile, and the man you didn't know wasted no time turning in your direction, offering an equally elegant smile.

During this discussion you learned that the prince-like man was none other than Zhongli, the famous consultant of Wangshen Funeral Parlor. While the girl was none other than Lumine, an “adventurer” and Honorary Knight of Favonius, accompanied by her “emergency food” Paimon. Their dynamic was very funny, making the meal much more lively than you might have imagined.

It wasn't long before Zhongli and Childe got lost in a discussion about their “job”, leaving you yo discuss alone with Lumine. You were all ears, smiling, as she told you about her various adventures throughout Teyvat. Until she conjures up a name you haven't heard in years. Your stomach had turned, your smile had slowly faded as the young woman continued to tell how she had met him and how he had become a hidden hero of Mondstat.

You put on a fake smile before apologizing, intimating that you needed to go to the bathroom. Lumine nodded and Childe smiled at you, resuming his discussion with Zhongli just as quickly. Finally hidden from others you sat on the floor, unable to breathe properly as hundreds of memories resurfaced. Memories that you had somehow buried under a ton of hatred, disdain and detachment.

Diluc, a name you never thought you would hear again. A person whom you had loved with all your heart, with all your soul, the one for whom you will have given everything long ago. Tears flooded your eyes as you thought back to his tender face, the emotions he hid so well from the general public, the tender words that only you received. All those mornings spent in his arms, bathing in the heat of the sun and his body, those nights warming you against his chest, those nights spent outside admiring the stars.

All these memories fled deep within you, coming back to haunt you. That day when the sun shone as bright as his smile, when for the first time you saw him stutter and lose all composture. Him, who was usually so careful with his image. After some time he knelt down, opening a velvet box which contained a most magnificent ring. A gorgeous red crystal adorned the middle of it, making the intricacies and details of the silver ring almost invisible. His cheeks flushed, he couldn't help but look away as he said the phrase you'd dreamed of hearing at the time : “ Would you.. Accept to marry me..? „

Tears were streaming down your cheeks, leaving a slightly blackish trail. You couldn't hold back the sobs as you thought about the fateful day. Far were the romantic evenings, the tender kisses and the longing for a future with the red-haired man. You vividly remember that evening, from the reflections of the candles to the cries and screams of Diluc. That fateful evening when you decided to join the Fatuis. The hatred you had seen in his gaze that night had helped you hold on but in hindsight, maybe it was just the look of a wounded man who had just lost his most solid pillar.

Childe's face appeared like a ghost in your memory, his reassuring smile and hugs, his tender words and his silly humor. Another memory came back : when you confessed to Childe. An afternoon when you were both practicing. When he had taken you against him while smiling, placing a kiss against your lips while repeating that he was the happiest man in the world and that he loved you just as much.

“ Childe… „

You came to wipe away the tears that spoiled your beautiful face. You made so much effort to look beautiful tonight .. You got up, trying your best to get a correct, normal breathing back. Then you went to one of the mirrors to put on a bit of makeup. Maybe Diluc was no longer in your life, maybe you would have liked him to accompany you in Snezhnaya, to become a Harbinger by your side. But all that was only wishful thinking of a former young self. Someone you weren't anymore.

When you returned to the table, Childe had grabbed your hand, interlocking your fingers before kissing the back of your hand. Whispering a slight “you okay ?”, settling for your weak smile as an answer. Something was wrong and he could notice it quite easily but for now, he couldn't do anything. Tonight would be a different story.

[You were asked to spend the night with bad boy!Lucas and try to keep him out of trouble, his parents hoping that you could get through to him.]

A/N - At this point, y'all should know I don't proofread until later on but this has been sitting in my drafts for months, I'm sooo glad I finally finished it. Also I think I changed from present tense to past tense in this?? not one hundred percent sure tho.

You groan when you see who you would be spending your Friday night with. Lucas Wong, the notorious bad boy of your high school. You had been asked to spend the night with Lucas while his parents were out. Your families are very close to one another and you were once close with the said boy before you became juniors in high school and he gained his title. ‘This is going to be fun’, you sigh and walked through the door. Lucas gives you a small tour (and by small tour you mean he told you where everything was but didn't bother standing up from the couch) then left, leaving you with the chores that his parents had set him to do.

You grumble and began looking around the house to see where everything was. You walk past the bathroom, the master bedroom, even the laundry until you eventually find yourself in front of a white door with a ‘DO NOT ENTER’ sign. You smirk, knowing exactly who’s room this was. I mean, he wasn’t home so why not have a little peek? You expect a typical bad boy’s room with posters on the wall and bandages everywhere, maybe a leather jacket and a bike helmet, but you walked into a navy blue and plain bedroom with a comfortable aura. A white oak desk sat in the corner of his room with a laptop and a few books on it. A clothes drawer was placed next to it with photo frames of his family and close friends. You notice a picture of two children in the middle and as you move closer, you realise that it was a picture of the pair of you, the younger you. Your smile grows wider as you glance around, his bedroom colliding with his personality.

Hours later, the door opened and slammed shut, breaking you from the TV. You heard feet pad up the stairs and you decided to follow, wanting to know what Lucas was rushing for. You checked every room before his bedroom and he was nowhere to be found. You slowly approached his door and knocked lightly, hoping he would hear you. “What do you want?!” He yelled through the door. You flinched at his tone but straightened your back. “Are you okay? You seem to be in a rush.” Your voice was loud but soft, bringing comfort to Lucas. He shook his head. “I’m fine! Just go back to- ahh,” he hissed and you couldn't sit back any more so you opened the door to see him on his bed. “Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!?? GO AWAY, I DON’T NEED YOUR HELP,” Lucas was panicking as you stared at his figure. The blood dripping from the cut on his forehead contrasted with his eye, which was turning a vibrant shade of blue and purple. His cheek was covered in the red substance as was his jawline and neck. His white t-shirt was black from dirt and grease and blood was also found on it. The most damage was his fists. The skin had been teared up and blood was oozing from each wound. “Y/N just leave me alone,” he hissed at you with a death glare. He stood up and walked towards you, encouraging you to leave his room but you, surprisingly, felt nothing but guilt and hurt.

A tear fell from your eye and Lucas halted, his expression softening but not backing down. You looked down and shook your head, heading to his bathroom and grabbing a first aid kit. You entered the bedroom again and shoved Lucas onto his bed, forcing him to sit still. “Y/N, What are you doing?” This time, Lucas spoke in a softer tone. “Just shut up Yukhei, and let me help you.” You surprised Lucas when you called him his Korean name, a habit you had when you were kids. He shut his mouth when you placed a damp washcloth onto his forehead, gently wiping the sweat and blood from his face. A closer look helped you gain a better view of his face and you noticed a cut on his lip. “You cut your lip as well,” You murmured to no one in particular and you gently touch his lip with your finger, watching him flinch from the contact. “Sorry,” You whispered and continued to wash his face. You ventured down his face to his neck and he shivered as your fingers grazed his skin, goosebumps forming on his clothed arms and legs.

You sighed, your back becoming uncomfortable from your sitting position. “What’s wrong,” Lucas speaks up. You could feel his breath on your neck as you look at his knuckles. “I’m sitting in an awkward position but this is the only way I can reach your face, neck and hands.” He nodded before he patted his thighs. You looked at him, confused at his action. “Sit in my lap, it will be more comfortable for you,” He spoke, looking away from you. You nodded and placed your leg over him, straddling him. You took his hand and placed it on your thigh, wiping the blood from his fist. His grip on your leg increased and he hissed at every movement. You eventually wiped a majority of the blood off of his wounds, leaving red cuts and rashes scattering his skin. You hopped off his lap and glanced at his shirt. “Did you get hit in the stomach,” you whispered to him. He nodded and began to lift his shirt. As more skin was revealed, bruises were seen scattering his stomach. You sighed and looked at his face, noticing his gaze on you. “You’ve always made the stupidest decisions.” He didn't answer you. You sighed and mumbled, “I’ll be back.”

You raced down the stairs and grabbed a few ice packs from the freezer, making your way back up to his room. He hadn’t moved from where he was but sat up a bit when you entered the room. You placed the ice packs on the bed and placed one on his stomach. He winced at the coolness but grabbed one himself and placed it on his eye. A few minutes later, you had cleaned him up and bandaged him up as best as you could and you were sitting on his chair while he was laying on his bed. You were scrolling through your phone before you were interrupted by a yawn. Your eyes fluttered shut in exhaustion before you looked at the time. You yawn and look at the bed. Lucas was still laying on his bed but his phone was occupying his attention. You thought you could quickly sneak out of his room but you were proven wrong as he called your name.

“Y/N?” his gaze left his phone and focused on your figure, standing by the door. “Where are you going?” His voice was a lot softer than before. “I’m going to bed.” Your hand reaches for the door handle until you hear Lucas. “Please don’t go. I want you here.” You face him and notice the visible pout on his face. You nod your head and tell him that you’ll go get ready for bed then come back. His eyes never left the door, waiting for you to enter the room again. After what felt like forever, for him, you walked back into the room.

You placed your things on his desk and sat on his bed, watching his face contort into a face of pain. “Yukhei...” You began but he cut you off “I know, I know, I shouldn't be doing it and it will hurt my image and affect my school work-” “I wasn’t going to say that,” You mumble. His eyes follow you and he tilts his head as you continue, “I mean, yeah I agree with what you just said but I’m not going to tell you to stop. You're a stubborn boy, Lucas, and I know that if you won’t listen to your parents then you won’t listen to me. But if you do keep doing this, I don’t want you to have to fix yourself. We were always looking out for each other as kids and, for me, that hasn't stopped. Remember the time you got out of detention after you got into that fight at the basketball court? I told the teachers that the other guy started it and you were defending yourself. Remember when you almost got suspended from ditching school? I told the principal your grandmother had passed away and you needed some alone time. If you continue fighting and continue this bad boy image, I want to be here to take care of you Yukhei.” His eyes soften and he grabs your hand.

“That's not true,” he states softly. you furrow your eyebrows, waiting for him to explain. “I may not listen to my parents or the teachers or any of my friends but I always listen to you. Remember when the teacher sent me to detention but I wouldn't go? I looked over at you and I could tell you were asking me to go just by the look you were giving me so I went to detention. Remember when I was about to fight your boyfriend? I knew he cheated on you but I didn’t want you to get hurt so I made up an excuse to fight him. But as soon as you told me to stop, I did. Y/N, out of everyone in my life, you're the only person I will listen to and if you tell me to stop fighting, if you tell me to stop going out late, if you tell me to listen in class, I will do it for you. I don’t care what everyone else say, I’ve only ever cared about you.” You were frozen by his confession and your eyes never left his. “Lucas, I.... I can’t tell you what to do. You have to make those decisions yourself, you have to know what is right and wrong.” I lay my head next to yours and watch you turn your body to face mine. You eyes glanced over his features and you admire him.

“Why did we drift apart?” You whisper, watching his eyes glance at your lips as you spoke. “You got a boyfriend,” You raise your eyebrows at him, “What does that have to do with us?” “I liked you a lot and I had always dreamed of dating you but when you told me you had gotten a boyfriend, I was angry at myself for being to scared to ask you. I remembered you had once said that you were into bad boys so I tried to get you to fall in love with me but you’d always talk about him so being a ‘bad boy’ became more of a distraction.” You smile at his confession. “You're an absolute idiot, you know that?” He frowned at your statement. “How?” “Because I liked you too, I got a boyfriend because I want to make you jealous but I thought that you didn't want to be friends anymore because you thought I was replacing you,” You take a deep breath and continue, “but obviously that didn't work because we broke up after only a few months of dating. I knew he cheated on me but I didn't like him so it didn’t really bother me and I still had feelings for you but I didn’t think that-”

A gasp leaves your lips as you feel a pair of lips push against yours. The feeling of Lucas’ soft, plump lips against yours had you melting into his touch. His arms wrapped around your body and pulled you closer to him, tickling the skin that was exposed. You hands delicately pulled his neck to deepen the kiss. Your heart was beating against your chest and you swear you could feel his, beating the same. You had never felt like this before, like you were floating yet trapped, you loved everything about it. You both broke away from each other, gasping for air and pressed against one another. The smile on his face never changed when you met his eyes. “Well that was something,” He started before he broke into a laugh. You smile and watch his eyes crinkle and his smile grow. “ He looks down at you with a fixed gaze. “I'm still in love with you,” His eyes never leave yours unless he was glancing down at your lips. “Well that's reassuring because I'm still in love with you,”

More Homestuck, continuing directly from last time. Gonna Bang Out A Liveblog Quick (GbOALq)…

No chapter title this time, just straight continuation. (By the way, I didn’t reblog it so spoilers don’t headline my blog but this post regarding last upd8 is delightful)

Okay, this makes more sense as to why they both disappeared -- Vrissy is either trying to get her back or is going along and just being grousy about it, or one under the pretense of the other or the like.

By the way, if Rose specifically planned in a way that involved telling Vriska to sit on the sidelines and not doing anything, shouldn’t she ABSOLUTELY KNOW, one-hundred percent with a combination of her Seer of Light powers and common sense, that Vriska will Not Do That? --so whatever Vriska is about to do I’m going to assume Rose has accounted for it, unless she’s like...

...sworn off using her powers much, or something. That would super suck and I would hate for that to be in this story regardless of themes.

Vriska Maryam-Lalonde, recently "Vrissy," and potentially "You Are So Grounded You Are Never Leaving The House Again," isn’t what’s commonly referred to as an "outside girl".

She likes grass. It’s fine! To look at. And so are trees, as long as they’re somewhere off in the distance, swaying gently in the breeze. Trampling through them is not on the list of acceptable tree activities. Vrissy is already sweaty and dirt-streaked, and there’s probably like fifty gnats trying to drink her eye fluids. At this rate she almost envies Tavros his role as Batterwitch Bait. Sure, he has to pretend to be threatened by Vrissy’s mom, which is lame as hell and also very embarrassing, but at least his eye fluids are safe.

So she’s fine with this in principle, just not with the work involved? Or--

VRISSY: Hey, can you slow Down a Little? VRISSY: I have to run over Shru8s and shit, I can’t Fly! VRISKA: Hah! And who’s fault is that???????? VRISSY: My shitty 8iology I guess! Oh Christ, we really should have seen it coming. OF COURSE VRISKA is going to get her hands on a copy of the Game and try and have these kids play it, regardless of whatever meteor-based consequences to this happy society. FUCK. She doesn’t even see any reason to hide it!

--reading on, some discussion of how people on Earth C view the ability to fly unaided as a sort of religious thing so shot down Roxy’s idea of letting everyone fly. Why does society always keep trying to shut down Roxy all the time

VRISKA: Really, we have to get you a god tier. That’s pretty much the only solution at this point. VRISKA: Ideally we’d go back to when you were a wiggler and start your training right away, 8ut that’s not exactly an option. So god tier it is. VRISSY: Is that even Possi8le? outside of the Game? VRISKA: Nope. 8ut we don’t have to worry a8out that, once we get back into SGRU8. VRISSY: What???

This is what you get for letting Vriska back into your story: She starts another meteor apocalypse and destroys your Happily Ever After. Fuck.

VRISKA: We have to start this shit over again, you have all let it get so out of hand there’s really nothing to do besides a hard reset.

(I know everything is accidentally going to end up working out “alright” whatever happens, but even if Vriska’s self-aggrandizing malfeasance HAPPENS to be the cause of it, I really, really don’t want her fucking ideology to be the cause of it. She shouldn’t be Aesma of Kill Six Billion Demons mythology, she’s had too many flirtations with ACTUALLY learning a lesson and BEING EARNEST ABOUT IT to be the selfish chaos at the heart of victory and living.)

Oh shit. Back to my Safari bookmarks! If you’re wondering why I’d make hundreds and hundreds of bookmarks from tumblr, it’s because I had anxiety and didn’t have a blog yet. Took me a while and eventually I just impulsively made it one night.

NEVERMIND I FOUND THEM, they’re no longer saved in a browser, I had changed laptops or sth and I had copied my bookmarks in a email I sent to myself so I could find the links again (which obviously says I made a selection, who knows how many bookmarks were lost. I don’t want to know lmao). I obviously have no reason, time or will to open them, but I can tell you I had divided them in categories:

Chapter 6

Okay I hope you like this chapter because I realised that last chapter was definetly NOT a good segway into what's happening here. I was just trying not to give away too much of why Roger stumbled into Brian's profile and I realised way to late that I hadn't included ENOUGH. I try to make up for it tho.

Roger chuckled and shut the phone off. He took a long drag from his electric cigarette, letting the raspberry taste linger in his mouth before exhaling. A little kid shot him a glare from the other side of the courtyard and Roger couldn’t help but feel a little bit guilty. He didn’t stop though, he just made a smoke ring the next time the kid caught him smoking.

The blond boy’s glare lessened and guilt hit Roger like a train. He quickly stuffed his cigarette in his pocket and took his phone, checking if Freddie had finished his shift already.

“Has anyone ever told you how ridiculously white you look when you some an electric cigarette?”

Roger looked up and found Freddie staring down at him, smirking, “Seriously Roger, you could at least strive to be a little more than a basic white girl.”

Roger rolled his eyes and smiled, “What if I don’t?”

“Your loss, I guess.” Freddie, shrugged and sat on the chair in front of Roger. “So tell me darling, how well can you drum?”

“Straight to the point?”

Freddie nodded and Roger smiled, thanking god for phones, and took out the three hundred different videos of himself drumming. He even showed Freddie the ones were he messed up, the ones were he messed around with well known solos, and the ones were he had to stop playing because of his drumsticks snapping in half or flying off.

He was not perfect, far from it actually. But he knew he was good. A few more years of drumming and maybe he could even get to be great, which was Roger’s wet dream ever since he had started drumming. He had tried so hard to get somewhere, and he had been getting with his current band, but something just told him that maybe the band wasn’t going to be the timeless wonder he was hoping they could get to be.

“Are you free?” Freddie asked, locking Roger’s phone, “I mean, are you band-less?”

He grimaced, “No, but I wouldn’t mind leaving, if that’s your next question.”

“What’s the name of your band?”

Roger took his Juul out, taking a drag before answering Freddie. Ready for the mocking he dejectedly answered, “ Humpy Bong.”

Freddie, bless his soul, didn’t laugh. Or well he tried to, until Roger told him it was okay to laugh. He, too, hated the name Tim had picked for them at the beginning of the band.

“Can you imagine my face when he told me?” Roger complained, “No one will take us seriously, yet he seems to believe that a name like Humpy Bong can make it to the Billboard Hot 100.”

Freddie laughed at Roger’s misfortune, and kept laughing when he told him about the other member of the band wholeheartedly agreeing with Tim about the name of the band.

“And the worst part? After having to stand being known as Roger Taylor for Humpy Bong and playing songs that, I honest to god, could play in my sleep, they have the audacity to, you know, sneakily imply that they have found a better drummer. A guy named Colin Petersen or something like that-- I really don’t care. I just want the asshat gone.”

Freddie grew quiet and serious, for a second Roger was afraid that this Colin whatever was a friend of Freddie’s, but then the older man surprised him, “Would you mind playing with a band called Queen ?”

Roger blinked.

Maybe the cold was affecting his ability to process information. Or maybe he had ordered a pod for his Juul with something other than nicotine. But Freddie looked deadly serious, and Roger wondered if that was what a miracle looked like.

“You have heard our songs, haven’t you?”

Roger thumbed his cellphone wondering if Freddie had somehow looked through his phone and found the excited text he had sent his sister when he saw Brian’s profile on Tinder. Or his embarrassing playlist made up of Queen’s only album, Smile , titled ‘<3’.

Or even worse, Roger worried that the older man had somehow found out that the reason he had started liking Queen was because Mr Lee, otherwise known as Roger’s godfather, had taken Roger to his bar to watch the performance of one of his bartenders. Roger had fallen in love, and had done his fair share of stalking, until he had stumbled with Brian’s profile by accident.

“How did you know?”

Freddie shrugged, “Light stalking is one of my passions, darling.”

Roger grimaced for the second time that day, “Don’t tell Brian.”

Freddie made a cross on top of his heart, “My mouth is shut, I promise.”

He relaxed, leaning on the table and looking at Freddie with a small smile, “I didn’t know you were looking for a drummer.”

He lied, even though he had clearly heard Deacy said otherwise. But other than that he had honestly never thought about Queen needing a drummer. Or well, maybe he hadn’t been paying enough attention. With his sole focus being the guitarist he had hardly ever paid attention to the other members of the band, so little in fact that he had almost forgotten about Freddie and John the night that Brian had brought him back to their apartment.

“Well,” Freddie took the Juul that Roger had left on the table and took a drag, “our drummers are good, but their not unique, you know?”

Roger nodded, and Freddie kept talking, “Kelly tends to repeat herself a lot when writing songs and Richie, well, I can’t have someone who keeps asking me if I like what they are doing every five seconds.”

“So you want a new drummer?” Roger asked.

“Yes,” Freddie said, “Someone with spark.”

Any other moment, any other time, Roger would have jumped at the idea of joining a decent band like Queen. Of finally making enough money out off ad revenue and spotify streams to afford a new sweater. Of being recognised as Roger Taylor of Queen rather than Roger Taylor of Humpy Bong. But in his current situation he could very clearly see why he couldn’t do that. Why he couldn’t scream at Freddie for being the best person in the planet.

That prospect alone, the idea of not being able to be part of Queen because he had first thought about getting into Brian’s pants, nearly made him cry.

He had already been feeling guilty about what he had been doing three days ago when Brian had told him that the dinner wouldn’t be for another three weeks. He had been so ready to cut off things before they got too out of hand and his infatuation for the guitarist became something a little bit more tangible than just a post on instagram, but when Brian looked at him with those hazel eyes of his and sad smile Roger couldn’t help but be selfish. And here he was again, being selfish and an overall shitty person.

“What about Brian and me?”

Freddie raised his eyebrows, “What about it?”

“Wouldn’t it be a problem?” He knew it was a stupid question the moment it left his mouth, Freddie and John were together and as far as he knew they were dating.

The problem, however, was that he and Brian weren’t dating. Just pretending.

“Ridiculous,” Freddie answered, “I’m not that much of a hypocrite.”

There was a second of silence and then the older man continued, “But, if it worries you that much, we can always have a band meeting.”

Roger nodded, relieved at the prospect of a band meeting, knowing that Brian was sure to shoot down any ridiculous idea that Freddie proposed. Freddie’s smile widened, and he was quick to fish out his phone and start typing in what Roger believed to be a group chat. He took his phone out and quickly texted Brian.

Taylor: i think we may have a problem

He expectantly watched as Brian’s status changed from last seen 11:45 am to online and then to typing…

May: What happened?

Roger tries to explain the situation as fast as he can, but the numbness of his fingers from the cold and the pressure of Freddie talking to Roger again and making him stop typing is too much. He barely manages a coherent message, to which Brian replies;

May: What?

Before typing a much more eloquent,

May: Oh, I understand now. That’s definitely not good.

Roger groans in frustration, “Seriously, will Brian ever stop texting with perfect grammar?”

Freddie looks up from his phone, dark hair framing his face and rolls his eyes, “It’s infuriating, isn't it?”

“Really fucking so,” Roger vents, “I almost expect him to sign his name at the end of every text. It’s like I’m trying to date my grandpa .”

“Oh, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ever did that,” Freddie mumbled, “that’s why I refuse to let him anywhere near our instagram posts.”

May: Definitely not good.

Roger opens the image wearily and nearly groans when he reads the text messages that Brian had screenshotted. It was a conversation in, what Roger assumed, was Queen’s group chat. Freddie said something about having found their permanent drummer, John asking if he had finally managed to convince Roger to be part of their group, and then dozens of emojis once Freddie replied that, yes, he had convinced Roger to join them.

May: What should we do?

Roger bit his lip.

Taylor: whens the next gig Taylor: ???

Brian went offline and Roger had to convince himself not to scream in annoyance. He put down his phone, not before turning on the notifications for when Brian decided to text him back and looked at Freddie, who was staring at him with joy in his eyes.

“They said yes!”

Roger had to feign excitement, “Holy shit! They said yes?”

Freddie nodded, “The next gig is so far away Roger, we will have time to rehearse, get to know each other more-- God this couldn’t be more perfect.”

Roger smiled, “When’s the gig?”

Freddie frowned, staying quiet for a second before answering, “The Sunday after our Christmas dinner.”

The monkey part of Roger’s brain started chanting about the plan he had been brewing ever since he had laid eyes in Brian. Seduce him , it screamed, make him fall in love with you and never leave your side.

The rational part just sighed sadly. He knew this was wrong. He knew that in many ways this was like a musician’s worst nightmare. To have a creepy random dude who was unhealthily obsessed with your guitar skills try to be your significant other sounded like hell. Even more so when the person had been lying about never having heard of the band in his life.

He smiled at Freddie as gleefully as he could and then excused himself to make a call. He had made up his mind the moment he clicked on Brian’s contact name and pressed call. Roger would just have to appreciate the three weeks ahead of him before he never saw Brian or any of the other members of Queen again.

“The gig is after the Christmas dinner.”

Roger smirked, “I know, and that gave me the best idea I have had in awhile.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Mhm,” Roger hummed, “Brian, babe, how into the idea of making a terribly big scene in front of your friends are you?”

Brian made a noise at the back of his throat, “Not very into the idea if I’m being honest. But then again, when do I ever get the choice to do what I’m comfortable with?”

Also, please tell me if you like the texting thing, I don't know if it makes the fanfic feel like one of those 2010 cringey wattapd fics with cheesy dialogue and bad writing.

Hey, hey guys. I finally finished the prologue to the Log Horizon Stargate SG1 crossover I’ve been working on. I have no fucking clue what to call it tho, so drop me a line if you get a good idea?

Actually, let's back up a bit. Hopefully it’ll make a bit more sense.

Somewhere around ten million years ago, there was a civilization that explored the stars. They had technology so advanced that many would call it magic, and they seeded many planets with life that they found to have formed in their image. Unfortunately, one such seeding went badly, and, after time had passed, they found themselves embroiled in a war they had never been prepared for. They lost, and they lost badly.

Eventually, they retreated through a portal to another land. A planet they had left behind long ago for fear of a deadly plague, and they sank their city-ship beneath the waves to wait for their return.

It wasn't until years had passed that the younger generation realized that the elders had never meant to return to their great city and grew discontented with this knowledge. Why leave and say it was to 'regroup', when in reality all they were doing was running away? It felt, to the younger ones, as though they had been lied to. As though the Elders had known and kept it a secret for fear that the youngers would have chosen to stay.

It was, some of the Younger admitted, a valid fear. But others argued that they would have left, if only to have a chance at developing technology that would have helped to defeat their great enemy.

Slowly, a schism developed, dividing the Elder and Younger generations, with very few on both sides choosing to abstain completely from the nearly constant arguments. Eventually it grew to be too much, and many of the Young decided to try their hand at something the Elders had already done.

They built a ship, and left.

The departure took many of the most promising minds away from Avalon (now called Earth), and although some of the ideas and notes that were left behind were expanded upon and experimented with, for the most part things simply stayed as they were, and indeed, in some cases, began to stagnate.

The Young, however, nearly exploded with creativity and experimentation. Free from the constraints of their Elders and the way that things had 'always been done', they discovered what had previously only been theorized; a harmonic theory of energy that provided power based on harmonic frequencies, and a call-and-response type delivery system.

Every so often they found a planet and settled for a while, building whatever labs were needed to run the more delicate or dangerous experiments that couldn’t be run on a ship for one reason or another. (The most common reason being that if something went wrong, it’d take out the entire ship.)

Still, they always moved on eventually. Nowhere felt quite right, and really, most of them were just plain having too much fun traveling to settle down just yet.

It wasn't until they ventured into a cluster of stars in a tiny galaxy nearby that some of them came forward with an idea.

Why not, they proposed, alter a planet to work on the harmonic theory? Plant great rings of Naquadah around the planet, tune them to respond to certain frequencies, and they would, while on the planet, be able to use the planet itself as many different kinds of technology.

But, another group countered, not only would the amount of Naquadah required be almost prohibitive, to actually get the desired responses; things that would closely mimic their own technology, there would have to be rings upon rings upon rings. It wouldn't be practical to have them inlaid upon the surface, and digging down to plant them in layers underground would be unpleasant at best, and nigh-unto impossible at worst.

Well then, a third group said cheerfully, wouldn't it just make more sense to build the planet from scratch?

That suggestion stunned everyone who heard it into silence, and, taking the lack of objection as tacit approval, the third group began making preparations to build their own planet.

(It should be noted that the third group was widely regarded with the same fascination you would give something particularly venomous. Beautiful, fascinating, and undeniably dangerous, but something about it makes you want to pick it up, just to be sure.)

No one was quite sure how, or who started it, but suddenly the ship was undergoing what seemed like major overhauls of practically every system that could be safely overhauled. What couldn't be overhauled was having replacements designed, tested, built, and then swapped in for the suddenly vastly obsolete technology that had been used before. The air of frenetic energy was contagious, and almost before anyone noticed, they were moving asteroids into place in a stable orbit around a small, yellow star.

"It's really similar to Avalon's star, isn't it?" someone mused dreamily, once, and somehow that idea percolated throughout the crew until it was widely known (though the source of the rumor was not) that they were going recreate Avalon.

Building a planet was, simultaneously, a task that was more difficult than they had thought, and easier than they'd imagined. With a gravity generator (and enough of a stabilizer to keep the whole thing conglomeration in place) in the center of of a cluster of asteroids that had been fused together, all they had to do was continue nudging debris into range. Sure, finding the debris to nudge in the right direction was a bit of a chore, but once someone* had the bright idea of harvesting a nearby planet's moons for materials, it all went much faster.

(*The someone may or may not have been, once again, a member of the third group. But really, what sort of planet needs over a hundred moons. Overcompensating much?)

Getting the rings into place as the planet was forming was actually the hardest part. They had to be able to resist the crushing pressure that the rest of the planet would put on them, and they had to be completely perfect the first time. There just plain wasn't time to undo and re-do mistakes.

In the end, someone had the bright idea to do two things. First, to create hollow rings. Tubes, more like, shaped into rings and sunk into the slowly heating stone and ice and metal that surrounded the new planetary core. Second, to fill those rings with liquid naquadah; a far, far more volatile substance, but one that is actually more capable of short energy pulses.

It would, the genius claimed, balance out the solid naquadah's propensity for sustained energy generation.

And so, further (extremely rapid) testing proved, it did.

More and more asteroids and bits of broken off moon joined the rapidly heating core, and rings were layered just so, so that, if they needed, or if they wanted, or if it ever became necessary, they could tweak the planet a little bit; make it a bit larger, or a bit smaller, just by shunting material into or out of the core. Several small, incredibly powerful wormhole generators would provide space for any excess material, rather than allowing it to be forced up through the ground and into the mantle, or the crust. To keep the rings as well calibrated as possible, there would need to be as little tectonic activity as they could manage.

More material piled on, and more rings were made. Hundreds and hundreds of the things, each carefully placed so that the energy fields they would create and interact with overlapped. There couldn't be any gaps, and, if there did end up being areas where certain responses were a bit more... energetic, well, that was something to deal with in the future.

It took a long time to get everything settled just so, but when they finally finished they were left with a barren rock, marked here and there with crevasses and chasms that led down unfathomable depths. With a planet devoid of anything, they sent down four devices that would create the building blocks of life, tossed a Stargate out of an airlock and into orbit, and left to explore the rest of their new, tiny galactic home.

Interestingly enough, although there were a few other habitable planets around the galaxy, none of them really caught hold of their attention the way their copy of Avalon had, and they found themselves returning to their planet often; checking on the terraformation progress even though it was unnecessary. It had such a draw for some of them, that as soon as there was enough atmosphere for them to breathe unaided, several groups shuttled down to the surface to get started on breeding and growing the algae and plants that would be a major contributor to maintaining the atmosphere.

Live soil was transported from a multitude of other worlds, and, when piled deep enough to reasonably expect to grow deeper rooted plants, it only covered a few acres.

Still, they were prepared to deal with waiting.

They ended up not having to wait nearly as long as they'd thought they might have to.

The rings worked better than they could have hoped and somehow the combination of harmonic based energy resonance, the patterning of the rings themselves, and how the rings had been laid out created a sort of pseudo-stargate. Instead of reaching from one planet to another, however, the pseudo-gate reached between dimensions to summon odd beings that would stay for a short time before reverting back to their home plane.

It took only a few weeks before the Lanteans had figured out exactly which harmonies to pluck to summon which beings, and soon after they were using stony beings to break down rocks into sand, then dust, then clay. Liquid-like beings helped carve channels for water to flow through, and hot-tempered, hot-bodied beings helped to warm their homes.

Creating new, fresh soil went so much faster after that discovery that the Lanteans opened up the stores of embryo they'd kept in stasis on board their ship and started to introduce animals to the new world. First small ones, like rodents, because they didn't eat too much, defecated quite a bit, and bred and died quickly. Then, when the ever growing water supplies were tested for suitability, fish and other water dwelling creatures were introduced as well.

Bit by bit, animals and plants were introduced to the virgin planet, and bit by bit the settlement of the Lanteans grew larger.

The seas grew deeper, the soil spread out, and slowly; so slowly that it was almost imperceptible, greenery covered the planet.

Eventually the planet came to be called Theldesia; a butchery of Theodosia, since the planet is meant to be the supreme gift from them, to their descendants, and anyone who makes their way there.

Eventually the Lanteans, now called Theldesians, introduce humanity to the planet, as a legacy to the seeding of civilization their ancestors did in Pegasus.

Eventually, genetic schisms arise, and three distinct races arise; capable of interbreeding, but still so morphologically different that there were lifespan gaps of over fifty years.

Eventually enough generations passed that the Lantean’s descendants barely knew that they'd been from anywhere else, and called themselves Alv. They, with their long lives and instinctive grasp of the technological magic of their forebears, grew arrogant enough that they sought to keep the other races from gaining as much proficiency as they have. A great spell is cast; to hold the so-called 'lesser races' back, and to ensure that the Alv will always remain the most magically powerful race on Theldesia. This spell forever changes the world, and incites the three races to rebellion.

A war is fought, and what Alv are not killed flee through the ring of their ancestors; returning to the world that was called Avalon, and leaving behind only a few signs of their passage in the hopes that others of their kind would find them and follow.

Six powerful women are born, and raised with tales of betrayal and anger poured into their ears. It festers in their hearts, and one by one each of the girls, twisted by the hatred they were raised on, rise up against those who had slaughtered their people.

Before the last of the Twisted Princesses dies, she casts a spell, calling upon the greatest magics of her people, and twists it until it produces monsters. Humanoid creatures that are inimical to all life outside of their own kind, and desire nothing more than the death of every other sentient species on the planet.

The Elves, Dwarves, and Humans were left scrambling, trying to keep up with the sudden influx of enemies that were both like and unlike the creatures that had routinely threatened the smaller villages at the outskirts of civilization. But they were outnumbered, and the first Great Spell prevented them from advancing quickly enough in skill of combat or magic to match the creatures that came to be called Demi-humans.

Eventually, it was decided that new races must be created or summoned. That decision led to the creation of the allied Demi-Human races; the Fox Tails, Wolf Fangs, and Werecats. These new races tipped the balance back towards equality, and the rate at which the so-called 'good' races were pushed back slowed. Still, it wasn't enough for those that remembered the sheer amount of territory they had occupied before the Second Great Spell, and yet another race was created.

This race was meant to take the place of the now-extinct Alv. They were to be of incredible magical talent, but physically weak enough that should they too fall to arrogance, they would be easily removed from power. What emerged instead was the Race of Ritual. Incredibly magically adept, the Race of Ritual had none of the instinctive grasp of Alven magic that even half-Alvs inherited pieces of. Instead, they intuited new ways of using magic and tended toward experimentation and research. Unfortunately, neither of those paths were particularly safe, and with their physical frailty and low fertility, the Race of Ritual was going extinct almost as soon as they came to exist.

It was the conjoined efforts of the Race of Ritual and what few Half Alv could be found that triggered the Third Great Spell, called the Second because the casting of the First had been known to only a few, and those few had died in defense of their people, letting the knowledge of what exactly the Alv had done to deserve extinction fade out of living memory. The spell called heroes who would defend their world.

The spell delivered, but not in any way the casters had been expecting.

Instead of great heroes like the members of the Thirteen Chivalric Orders, the beings who appeared were odd. Not in appearance; for all intents and purposes they looked like normal Theldesians. However, if one got close they would notice something uncanny about them. How still they stood. How little their eyes moved. How many of them ran around with weapons constantly in hand.

Many Theldesians called them abominations, or even monsters in their own right. Still, despite the fact that they never spoke outside of certain phrases, (spoken in an oddly flat voice,) and the fact that even when killed they simply revived in the nearest cathedral, and their meteoric progress when it came to magic or physical skills, they showed no interest in anything other than fulfilling the tasks the Theldesians gave them or fighting the monstrous demi-humans.

Of the Highest Security

Voltron fic. Post Season One (Not taking into account the Season 2 Trailer or clips. Written 3 months ago). Plot- driven. Lot’s of sub-textual Klance. Genre: Adventure/Scifi. 10 Chapters total. 20k.

Description: This fic follows Lance as he’s launched into an unknown region of the Galaxy to a solar system that hasn’t been invaded by Galra yet. However the natives have also heard of Voltron and don’t want to be associated with it either. The authorities get suspicious enough about an unknown species (Lance) taking scrap metal from the junk yard for the past three months on one of their planets, Cortaalis, to put him in a maximum security prison. Now that he’s the talk of the solar system, he runs the risk of the Galra finding out where he is. (Keith will wiggle his way into the story early on too tho)

There’s swearing, some angst, and some violence, but that should be it.

Chapter 1/10: Split

He missed Blue the most. If anyone had asked him three months ago he would've said he missed his crew, Shiro, Hunk, Pidge, Allura, Coran the most... hell, even Mullet floated into his mind with great frequency. But that was three months ago. Three months since the Wormhole Incident.

And it had only been a week and a half since he's been forcefully separated from Blue. Her easy and smooth tone had been the only thing to remind him to be hopeful at times like this. He dug his head into his hands and pressed his knees closer to his chest. He remembered everything so clearly...

The moment he went through the blue swirling vortex the feed on his helmet was cut off. No more teammates by his side. He was all alone. The starry scene in front of him, while serene, panicked him. Everything was silent for just a second, save for the soft hum of Blue's engines he had grown accustomed to, like being in an airplane. The way he could hear her breathe even though she was technically a machine. He gasped for air, fogging up the inside of his helmet.

"Guys?"His voice was a sharp contrast to the dead silence of space. But no one responded.

He tried again, feeling his stomach twist. "Can any- AGH!" He was interrupted by a loud jarring crash. His head reeled as he was jerked around, the only thing keeping him from becoming a human pinball being his seat belt. His head smacked against the back of the seat, sending an intense wave of pain through his rattled skull. Something had collided with Blue. Something big. There was a loud metallic lurch deep inside Blue's chest.

"What was that!?" He asked her, one eye closed. Every light and every color had intensified to the point of nearly blinding him. Blue's head turned and he jumped. It was a giant asteroid. She kicked, trying to get her engines working again, but they were failing. And now the two were being rocketed away, incapable of changing direction. Blue's control room was creaking and shaking, giving away to intense nausea that threatened to soil his armor and anything else that happened to be in the vicinity.

Land. Blue's voice echoed in his mind. Find land.

Lance rubbed his eyes, but his vision would not clear back up. His hands flailed around him trying to locate the familiar grips of the controls. Her engines may be damaged, but he could at least try to steady themselves. He blinked several times and then let out a curse. He could see nothing. Too many sounds, too much light. One of his ears muted out all other sounds except a high pitched ringing noise. One of his hands found a grip.

He pulled with all of his might on the single control. Lance could not tell by sight whether it was working, but the turning in his stomach calmed down and alleviated the nausea somewhat. Good good. She's steadying. With the other hand he checked his head. His elevated heart rate sent a new wave of adrenaline through his body with every pulse, each beat causing an explosion in his brain. He wrenched his helmet off his head, sending a spray of sweat across the deck. "Ooww..." He chocked out through gritted teeth.

Land. There's a planet. Lance took a few deep breaths, trying to block out the pain. If he could connect with Blue he could in theory see what she could see. He knew how much trouble he'd had connecting with his lion like Shiro could do. And he was not in the best head space to try it now. Nonetheless a fuzzy image came through. I did it! Yes! I guess it only takes a concussion and free floating through space. Blue was still spinning. The stars were still a blur. But she was right, there was a greenish planet not too far off. In fact, a whole solar system of six or seven planets of various sizes lay out in front of them, with an enormous sun right in the middle.

He wanted to worry about his teammates so badly, but the situation would not allow it. Lance only hoped that they hadn't had the misfortune of colliding with a giant space rock like he had.

"Okay Blue. Let's make this landing as easy as it can be." He tightened his grip on the control, and untensed his body. She guided him to the second control, and he prepared for a tough impact. The planet should have been far enough away that it would have taken a long time to get pulled into its atmosphere. No, but we're going fast enough we'll get there in a couple seconds. Here comes the hard part Blue. He felt her nod in wordless agreement.

Lance hoped the little he'd retained in high school about physics would save his life. His lion's velocity increased as they were pulled into the planet's atmosphere. The stars were replaced with the first clouds under the thin outer layer of life sustaining gases. Time to pull up. He pulled on the controls, hands trembling and knuckles white under his now uncomfortably warm armor. It's gonna get hot, I'm sorry girl. He apologized to his lion. Some of her would burn up on their way down. But he planned to minimize that as much as he could. By pulling up every time they gained too much speed, he could slow the heating process, and maybe they could live when they reached the ground.

Each time he pulled up he felt the slight relief of gravity putting a strain on his bones and his limbs. It was hard enough holding on to the controls when the entire deck was rattling non stop from the turbulence of actually free falling, but when gravity applied, it was a whole new story. His fingers were numb. He was squeezing all of the blood out of his clenched fists. His eyes hurt from squeezing them shut too.

When he got close enough to the ground to see it, a new rush of fear seeped into his mind. The land was much less land as it was a green blur. We're going so fast. Blue...

We will live. She replied curtly. She extended all four limbs.

Ha. Cats always land on their feet, huh? He forced a smile. He may have felt humor on the inside, but his body was devoid of any discernible emotion. She did not reply, but he could feel her cold hard glare burning through him. Just like old times. Still got it. He let one eye open to test his sight. The colors were still bright as hell, but the ringing in his ear had subsided and he was able to see what was in front of him. They were close now. Lance was above a forest, about three hundred feet up still. Blue's body was smoking, Lance's own armor searing. They were flying nearly parallel to the ground. His grip loosened. Just a few more seconds and they would have impact. The lion wavered side to side. She was attempting to land on her feet, even though her back two legs were mangled. This is it.

Put your helmet back on. She ordered, and he did. They braced for impact.

He was brought back to reality. The dull repetitive thunk of a prisoner's giant fist one cell to his right had been droning on for hours. He did this a lot. Others near him shouted and complained, some even going so far as to insult the guard every time she walked past, and trying to bypass the light green electrified energy shield, only to be shocked and howl in pain. Lance had only ever tried it once. And the scar left on his right hand was, he had to admit, a powerful deterrent.

Lance didn't belong here. The only reason he'd been put here was because some had gotten suspicious about who he was.

He understood why they were wary of his identity. Apparently this solar system was not yet part of the Galra Empire, and their leaders were not happy about the idea of joining them. But at the same time they despised Voltron, and wanted nothing to do with them either. Any association meant being noticed by the Galra, putting their planets at risk. That made sense.

Throughout the last two and a half months he'd been living as a regular citizen of the green planet known as Cortaalis. He spent his days wandering around the nearby cities trying to find the parts to repair his lion. Her chest was split wide open, and massive dents and slashes scarred her. He knew very little about mechanics (that was Hunk's department), but no one knew Blue better than Blue, and she'd been walking him through it. The problem was it was incredibly slow- going. After every long day he slept in the control deck. He could understand why people would get suspicious of the same guy desperately looking for spare junk metal and various different reactors. Lance had made some acquaintances along the way, those who would help him find what he needed, or a close proximity to it. That was a plus. He had to admit it was a pretty nice place to live, too. The cities were large and they were advanced enough for him to find what he needed for Blue."When I fix you up, we'll be outta here and we'll find our team." He kept telling himself then.

His fatal mistake was when he was interrogated by some officials, some strange orange tinted aliens, he'd accidentally used the name "Blue". That was enough for him to be shipped off to the highest security prison on the planet of Cortaalis. This was the place they sent the baddest of the bad.

"'We'll find our team'. Yeah right." He muttered to himself now. He'd overheard from the guards the other day that news had gotten out about a paladin being discovered on Cortaalis, and the entire solar system was in an uproar now because of him. They'd all been ordered by whoever was in charge to keep quiet while they decided what to do. Some argued that they should just hand him over, others wanted him killed, and still others were in favor of simply shipping him out in a space pod to fend for himself.

His only comfort was that to his knowledge, they had not found Blue yet.

"Hey, keep it down over there!" The guy on the other side of the guy banging his fist against the wall yelled at Lance.

"It's not me Dreks, it's the other guy again." He replied, voice muffled by his arms.

"Oh! My apologies Lance." He sputtered. Dreks was his only ally. A giant dark green alien with some humanoid features about his like his face and hands, but everything else was a wide array of different limbs and spikes. His shoulders were always hunched, and he was missing an eye and many teeth. Dreks was arguably the scariest person locked up here. And yet he was probably also the nicest. I mean, he's still pretty screwed up in the brain. I heard in the mess hall that he'd stabbed four other prisoners with one of his own spikes he'd torn off of himself to use as a shiv. But Dreks been sympathetic toward him. And plus, making friends with the scariest guy there guaranteed his safety.

"It's cool bro." He said unenthusiastically. Lance was just tired. he wanted to sleep. All of this noise made that damn near impossible too.

Before you answer, please read this thoroughly. I am a student and Illinois Resident. I have PPO health insurance in Illinois that I pay out of pocket for. $1000 deductible, 100% covered. I go to school in Florida and have employer insurance in FL (ever since Sept 2008), but it's an HMO. The PPO my job offers has no deductible but is 80/20 coverage, so I opted the HMO. For the average person, it would make no sense to have 2 policies, but I'm not ordinary. I have many pre-existing conditions (some I was born with), hence the Illinois coverage. In Dec of last year, before my FL insurance kicked in, I had a multitude of issues which caused me to have to use my BCBS of IL in Florida where I'm attending school. Many of those things are at bay now, but for doctor visits, exams, etc to arise other than routine check ups, should I start using my FL HMO insurance and just use my IL insurance for when I visit home during breaks? Or should I just drop my FL insurance altogether? The reason this is an issue is b/c I am afraid I my rates will go up or they drop me if I continue to use my insurance which was meant to be for IL, but I have been using it in another state. Yes they will cover b/c it's PPO and it falls under the BCBS umbrella, but this is the risk I take.
