do you ship thorki??????????
What the ??????????
When I said 'his love for Loki' in the prev ask, I OBVIOUSLY meant familial love that you have for your siblings. Love isn't just sexual and romantic, the heck!!!!!
Since y'all like to be purposely dense, no I don't ship it. I hate it with the intensity of a thousand suns. Even Chris and Tom do, because it ruined the BROTHERLY bond they had w each other.

Out of My System Pt 7
Summary: Loki doesn't understand Thor's attraction to Midgardians. Until he meets you.
Pairing: Avenger Loki x F. Reader
Warnings: Angst. Pregnancy.
W/C: 846
A/N: Sorry this is so short! I’ve been crazy busy with the Whore-O-Ween stuff.
Out of My System Masterlist
You were shaking with excitement. Odin had agreed to let you visit Asgard on Loki and Thor’s next trip. You didn’t know what you were most excited about, meeting his mother or seeing the place where he grew up.
There was also another reason you were excited. You were hiding a pretty big secret. You had found out earlier in the week that you’re pregnant. You weren’t exactly keeping the news from Loki, you just wanted to find the right time to tell him. You thought that the opportunity would present itself on your trip.
Frigga was everything you imagined and so much more. She welcomed you with open arms. You loved her already. As soon as she saw you, she gave you a knowing smile. A mother always knows. Loki left the two of you alone to talk, and she asked if he knew the second he walked out.
She was almost more excited than you. The next day, she gifted you with Asgardian baby gowns in Loki’s colors. You hid them in your bag so Loki wouldn’t find them. You walked around the palace after you ate looking for Loki.
You stumble upon Sif and another lady. “Have you seen Loki?” “He was seen in the garden with Rose earlier.” She smirked and you thanked her, making your way to the garden. “Poor dear, Loki brought her all the way from Midgard and he’s already seeing someone behind her back. He and Rose used to be an item centuries ago. You know what they say, old flames die hard.”
You couldn’t believe what she was saying. You were only a few steps away, surely they meant for you to hear it. But you knew Loki, and he wouldn’t cheat on you. You hurried outside, spotting Loki sitting on a bench with Rose. You could hear her obnoxious giggle as she climbed into his lap.
Shocked, you got on your hands and knees crawling to a nearby bush. You hid behind it so you could spy on them. There had to be a logical explanation for why she was in his lap. Maybe she got hurt and he was helping her.
“A Midgardian, Loki? I thought even you had standards. She’s not even that pretty. You could have your choice of any Asgardian woman. Why don’t we go back to my cottage? It will be just like old times. I’ll do that thing you like.” She purred.
You shake with anger. How dare she? You peak through the bush waiting for Loki’s response. This should be good. He wouldn’t let anyone say anything bad about you. Loki takes her loose curl between his fingers placing it behind her ear. “That’s quite a tempting offer-“
Rage consumes you. You stand, giving away your hiding spot. You stomp over to them, not caring how crazy you looked. If looks could kill, they would both be dead. “Darling, what are you -“ You don’t give Loki the chance to finish. “Get your ass up!” You shout at her. She looks from you to Loki. This must be how Bruce feels when he turns into the Hulk. Damn these pregnancy hormones. You grab Rose’s arm and sling her to the ground.
“Oh!” She shouts as her body lands hard with a thud. “Loki, please help me, she’s assaulted me!” She whines. Loki takes one step toward her, but stops when he sees how angry you are. “You’re lucky that’s all I did!” She gets up with a huff, running in the opposite direction.
“Darling, I can explain. It’s not what it looked like.” Your hand meets his cheek before you can think. He brings his hand to it, shocked. “What’s the matter with you?” He questions. “Me? What about you? I heard her trashing me and you didn’t defend me once! She propositioned you, Loki. An offer I heard you accept.” He places his hand on yours, and you jerk away from his touch.
“I was so foolish to think this could work, that I’d ever be enough for you. You didn’t even like Earth women, Loki. I don’t know why I thought I was any different.” You fight back tears, refusing to let him see you cry. “You better go after her.”
You sob the entire way back to Loki’s chamber. Hand on your non-existent baby bump, you think of all that could’ve been, all that he had ruined. “It’s just you and me from now on. I’m sorry your dad’s such an asshole. I’ve always had horrible taste in men. I just thought he was different.” You cried harder remembering that you slapped him. “I’m going to give birth in Asgardian jail because I assaulted Prince Jackass!” You wailed.
Loki gave you some time to calm down. He knew he couldn’t talk to you when you were so angry. He was about to refuse Rose’s advances and defend you when you popped out of the bushes like a mad woman.
“Mother, have you seen her? I’ve been looking everywhere.” Frigga frowned at him. “She went back to Midgard, Loki. Thor accompanied her per my request.” Loki runs a hand through his hair looking frustrated. “Why would you send Thor? Why wouldn’t you send for me?” He shouted. Frigga placed a dainty hand on her son’s shoulder. “You’ve done enough today. What were you thinking? You should have known what it would look like.”
When he reached his chambers, he noticed you left your bag. He missed you and he wasn’t sure if he could fix this. You were so angry with him, and you had every right to be. He decided to go through your bag, hoping to find something that smelled like you.
He picked out a hoodie, bringing it to his nose for comfort. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw his colors. He knew you didn’t have anything like that, so his curiosity got the best of him. He lifted the small items out of your bag. Realizing what they were, he was shocked.
He thought back, remembering how you had gotten sick smelling your favorite food. You were sick quite often lately, but you told him it was a stomach flu. Why hadn’t you told him? Perhaps you didn’t want a child with him. You hadn’t been dating for very long. A child would change your relationship. One thing was for certain, he had to get back to you.

Lokius positive post about ep 4:
Sylvie, the reason Loki asked for your help was because of your power. You are wrong about Mobius and nobody needs your opinion. Mobius doesn't care and he's done nothing and you've done everything ? Well, everything happening is 100% your fault, that's true. But you went off to flip hamburgers while Mobius saved Loki's life. Your solution is to kill.
Mobius's solution is to care.
I wish B15 would have heard Sylvie's mouth. How awesome would it be, for B15 to mirror Mobius's slap to Brad ? And you better believe B15 would have done it, because unlike Sylvie, B15 KNOWS Mobius.
Prediction: Sylvie will not be the One by Loki's side in the last episode. That will be Mobius. Not necessarily in a romantic way, but as co leader of the new TVA. Loki is not quite ready for romance, yet. It's why Sylki is such an insult, because it was insta love, and Loki is not an "insta" character.
Loki has always been slow burn, and that is what Lokius is.
However. If the next eps go back to some of Loki and Mobius's moments, I believe Loki will correct every single thing that they think they should have done for and with Mobius. The hot air balloon ride, the full tandem bike ride, taking Mobius's side openly, in front of Mobius, to Sylvie in ep 4. Taking Mobius in ep 4 to get pie. Taking the time to at least say thank you to Mobius for risking his skin. Punching Brad for calling Mobius nothing.
Most importantly..that interrupted confession before the Time Loom. I do think Loki will say "ILY", now. And I think, even if that version isn't the timeline that has an alive Mobius at the end, I think Mobius will remember it, if only subconsciously.
Loki will see this as a chance to fix their mistakes the last few eps. Loki has made some hurtful blunders towards Mobius...but it was all so we'll get scene after scene of Loki righting what went wrong. They may only hint that something happened again, like the bike ride, but.
I don't think the "ILY" will necessarily mean romantically, but I also don't think Mobius and Loki are labelers. ILY for them is all encompassing. They are what they are. Mobius IS Loki's person, period. The one they'd die for who would die for them. The one Loki became soft for. Mobius IS Loki's "Jane". The Frigga to their Odin, if I may be so bold. The gentle, caring, loving order to their Chaos. The Yin to their Yang.
Can there be anything better ? I think not.

The Maid And The God
Chapter Three
(Fem!reader, Enemies to lovers, angst, spit, cursing, some violence, 18+)
Tumblr media
“Mom? What’s going on? Why are you-how?”
“ Shhh my love come here mommy’s got you”
She held your body while you lay in your bed. She made you feel safe. “What’s been going on sweetheart? Tell me everything” you didn’t quite understand what she meant, yet somehow knew exactly what she meant
“oh mom it’s loki. He’s awful! He always has made me feel so out of place and uncomfortable! I-I don’t know how to act. I don’t understand why he is so intimidating! Or why his parents love him! Who could love such a wretched”-
“Uh uh darling” her fingers shush your lips. “There is a lot you don’t understand my dear. I know your hurting. I know your scared but-“
You can’t control the sobs falling down your face “I am scared. I’m so damn scared mom. I don’t know how to do any of this without you. Everything was fine. Then he showed up and he’s ruined everything! I fear anything I do will start fights with him….I’m afraid I’m already on his bad side.”
You can’t stop rambling to her, crying harder then ever before. “I don’t know what I ever did to him. And now I work for him! And -and” you sniffle into your fist. “I feel so helpless. Why am I here? What am I doing? A servant got a greedy jerk! Everything’s so scary without you mom”
She holds you tighter. You missed her every day and you feel years of pain pooling out. “Hush now my little dove. Mommy’s got you”. You cried and cried into her until you could no longer. Exhaustion had hit you. Your eyes heavy and head resting on her chest. She smelt the same. Like lavender and her special perfume. You lay in her cocoon arms until you drift asleep.
The sun hits your skin and you bat your eyes. “Mom!” You call out. Gasping for air. But it was only a dream. You feel your heart sink. “Oh…” that sadness and overwhelming feeling you had comes back. Today was just a sad day. You drag yourself out of bed and step into your shower. You look in the mirror at yourself as you take each item of clothing off. You step into the shower feeling the warm water trickle down your body. You couldn’t stop thinking about the dream you had.
With each motion of washing your body your mind replayed the dream. Her smell, her arms, the way you felt so safe and finally could be vulnerable. But what did she mean? About loki? You shake the thought. You didn’t want to think about him just now. You hadn’t felt so happy and safe in so long. “If only I could sleep forever so I could be with you mom” you say to yourself. You hadn’t been this depressed in a while, and today you just didn’t care.
Your mother was gone. You were alone. You had no friends and The Odinson’s weren’t truly family to you. “Ugh fuck this” you turn the shower off and change aggressively into casual clothes. You weren’t going to wear your uniform today. But you knew one thing for sure; you weren’t taking anyone’s shit today. You were angry now, so angry. Why was life so cruel to you? You didn’t deserve this. And now you have to deal with this monster of a being. Me fucking know it all, better then everyone. Pfft! Who did he think he was? And how dare he threaten you? And intimidate you? The nerve! Had had not near experienced the pain you had been through. So why the hell were you going to sit around and be scared of him?
You acquire your cleaning supplies and began. You started off making sure the halls were clean, polished, and dusted. You took your time today. Why rush? It’s not like your day could get worse. Or were you secretly avoiding seeing loki today? Another thought you pushed aside. It had been a few hours and every part of the palace was perfect. You could see yourself in the floors reflection. You had made Frigga and Odins bed, Thors bed even though he rarely is around. He apparently does quests with a team called the avengers or something sometimes. You don’t pay much attention. Thor was lovely, but something about him never sat right. Yous used to be quite close when you were young, but as he got older and had more purposes and missions to fulfil he was almost too good? Self righteous almost?
Loki had this love/hate relationship with Thor. And you loved getting close with Thor when he visited. It pissed loki off, and he also kept you safe…another thing you never will share to anyone. But god did he bother you. You wanted them to know what it is like to be human just for one day. You close Thors door and slowly make your way to your last room. You dreaded this, you took your time even more. Step by step you ease to his doorstep. “Here goes. Nothing I Guess”. You were defeated, tired, sad, angry, passionate, furious. And holding that in was giving you enough confidence and strength to get through this next half hour. You Bang Open his door- it was locked, unlike the rest. “Loki open the fucking door”. Within seconds it swings open. And behold Loki stands in front of you. A calm expression on his face.
“Can you move. I have work to do like today”. He looked taken aback. “Well my my, aren’t we a grumpy little bird to”-
You raise your hand to shush him “not today loki” you state. Your tone cold and dominant. “I’m cleaning and I’m gone. You won’t even know I was here alright? Save your fighting for literally anyone else” you roll your eyes.
Loki doesn’t speak he just watches you in disbelief. You had never spoken to him like that. A big bubble of energy filled you. Look at you to! You stood up to him and Gods did it feel good. But you also held your breath in fear this would backfire. You needed to do this fast before loki changes his mind from being this calm person to starting another fight. Most of his room was clean from yesterday, almost like it was untouched. His bed and desk were the only things needing attending. “ Gods Y/N, you look like you haven’t slept.” There was a pause. You turn and look at Loki. Was he concerned? Why was he asking? “It’s absolutely disgusting and I don’t want to see my maid looking this way. Oh and your clothes. Why are you not in your uniform?” He scoffs. “Gods your pathetic.” You suck in a tight breath. There it was. Why did you even tempt the thought of him caring? You finishing tucking his sheets in and making his bed look perfect. “Firstly it’s absolutely none of your fucking business. Secondly there’s so much I want to respond to that, but your not worth the air loki. Your room is done, my duties are done for the day. I am leaving”.
You begin to storm out but suddenly hear the sound of a cup falling and smashing. Gritting your teeth your turn around on your heel. “Oops. Guess you missed a spot.” He smirks and watches you as You sigh. Of course he did that. You get down on your knees and pull out paper towel and some spray. “Oh and one more thing” loki says. You see his shoes first, he was right in front of you. You tilt your head up slowly but suddenly feel his hand fist your hair, forcefully pulling your head up. Loki leans in close to you his warm breath touching your face. “Remember who the fuck your talking to before you come in here with that attitude” And he did something you were not ready for. He spits across your face in disgust you try pulling away but your small head is in his large grip. “Your fucking pathetic. You are just a maid and nothing more. Now clean it up” he throws you to the floor your head almost hitting the ground.
You listen to his footsteps walk away and when you hear he’s gone you burst into tears. Today definitely got worse. Your chest ached & your eyes welled with tears. Who did you think you were? Talking to a literal god like that? You hated yourself more. You rapidly clean the mess and race back to your bedroom. You spent the rest of the evening crying. You were so hurt, in such a pain you couldn’t comprehend. You needed your mother. How could you let someone like loki treat you this way? Why did it matter if he was a god or a nobody? Why did he hate you so much?
You cried so hard you passed out asleep and when you finally woke it was still dark. What time was it? You didn’t move, you didn’t eat. You just ached. The room was silent for some time but soon you heard a little creek of your door. Startled you freeze up. “Y/N? …it’s uh..it’s Loki”.

self-care
A Loki Laufeson X Y/N fic.
pov: Y/n catches Loki trying to tame the mane that is his hair and convinces him to do a full-on self-care night. 3rd person, Y/n uses she/her pronouns
Warnings: cursing, brief mentions of sex
"Loki?" Y/n yells from her newly made bed. She wriggled under the covers waiting for her lover to await through the door. No response, she wasn't worried, Loki did this a lot. She reluctantly climbed out of bed and sat down next to the door.
"Lokiiii" she whined while softly tapping on the door.
"Shit" Loki cursed under his breath from the other side of the door.
"What's going on love?" Y/n says softly while playing with the doorknob.
"Go away," he hissed bitterly, Y/n knows this mood, he's frustrated.
"C'mon I can help you out if you let me in," Y/n says. after a long pause, she hears the door click open and jumps up in excitement.
"Hi, baby- Oh!" Y/n says, already in the bathroom with him as he hunches over the sink with a hairbrush. Y/n makes her way around the ashamed god in front of her and gives him a kiss on the head.
"Love why didn't you ask me for help?" she says. she didn't get a response as she expected. Y/n moved him over and looked in the cabinet beneath the sink for some supplies, she took out 3 different types of hairbrushes, conditioner, shampoo, and detangler.
"Isn't that a bit much," Loki said as if he was afraid of the products. Y/n giggled.
"No this is great. you ready for your first ever self-care sesh with your amazing girlfriend?" Y/n said while smiling at the embarrassed messy god.
"I am a god I don't believe I need to do-" Y/n cut him off with a kiss immediately changing his mind. Once she pulled away he almost instantly said yes, earning him a kiss on the cheek. after a couple minutes she had brought in a chair and some more supplies, she put him in the chair in front of the mirror and took a good look at his hair.
"Wow. did you just try to brush this??" she asked with a hint of playful judgment in her voice.
"Y-yes" Loki winced as he said it.
"You know you have curly hair right?" she said.
"Yea" he responded
"Well" she began, "I don't know if Odin or Frigga taught you this because it seems like neither of them has curly hair, but you can't just brush it out, or else it gets frizzy like this."
"Oh," Loki says, feeling stupid.
Y/n sensed this and said "Don't worry babe I'll teach you everything and that'll never be an issue again ok?" he nodded in response.
and with that, she got to work detangling and brushing out his hair and starting over and detangling again. at one point she had to wash his hair in the sink with her special shampoo and conditioner for curly hair, after a grueling hour the mane was finally detangled fully.
"Alright! What'd you think?" Y/n says, wiping off sweat from her forehead.
"I think.." he began while standing up. suddenly he pulled Y/n in for a deep and passionate kiss, his hands settling on her hips and hers settling on his chest. He reluctantly pulled away "I think I am so grateful to have such an amazing girlfriend"
they both blushed like two idiotic middle schoolers. after finishing cleaning up and a brief skincare sesh they were settled in bed.
"Holy shit it's 2 am!" Y/n said, not realizing how the time flew by.
"Well we've been up later," Loki said with a smug look on his face.
"Lokiii" Y/n whined while playfully hitting him.
They laid there together for a minute, thinking about one another.
"thank you for this Y/n my darling," Loki said, breaking the silence.
"Of course silly," Y/n said while turning to face him.
"no really," Loki began, "I never... I haven't had someone like this in my life... ever. My mother was incredible but she never took care of me and my father... well you know." He looked at Y/n with pure love In his eyes, gratefulness and love washing over him, he held you close.
"I love you Loki," you said.
"I love you too Y/n" He said while placing a kiss on your head. you both drifted asleep with each other in your arms.
happily ever after

Loki Masterlist
“I’m a monster.” He was stammering and shaking even before he got through your chamber doors. “I’m a monster, and they never told me.”
You held his hands, trying to ground him, trying to let him know you were here. But he recoiled back. Once he seemed to catch the concern flooding from your eyes, he reached shaky hands out once more to hold yours.
“Loki, what happened?”
His mouth opened and shut. How could he tell you? What if he lost you? He almost pulled away again, left your room forever with a final warning to forget him, but he was stopped at the thought when you cupped his cheek and wiped away tears he didn’t even realize had started to fall.
“My love, talk to me,” you pleaded.
So he told you.
I tried for you
Tried to see through all the smoke and dirt
It wouldn’t move
What could I do?
I touch your head
To pull your thoughts into my hand
But now I can’t
“Loki, please .” You kneeled at the foot of the throne. The guards had been dismissed the moment you entered. “Those people - they’re all innocent! You’re destroying an entire village just to-to what? Torment Thor?”
He wouldn’t look at you. “You’re with him, then?”
“I love you , Loki.” Your affection had an undercurrent of irritation. “Frigga loves you, Thor loves you! You don’t have to keep doing this!”
His hold on Odin’s staff tightened. You couldn’t see what the Destroyer was doing, but you knew it was rampaging down on Midgard, destroying a town in New Mexico, terrorizing innocents. He sighed, his nod near imperceptible.
“Thank you.” You rose to stand, taking his free hand in yours and holding it close to your heart. “You need never resort to violence, my love.”
His eyes met yours. Perhaps, if you had been more perceptive, if you could see the mischief in his eyes, you would have known what he was planning to do next.
“Of course, dear heart,” he crooned. “I’ll make my way to the BiFrost and I will apologize for my actions. Perhaps Thor can see reason where I was blinded.”
He didn’t return from the BiFrost.
Say, isn’t it strange?
Isn’t it strange?
I am still me
You are still you
In the same place
Isn’t it strange
How people can change
From strangers to friends
Friends into lovers
And strangers again?
Thor couldn’t count the times he checked in on you after Loki fell. Every day, several times, he would find you in the same place on Loki’s bed, curled up in a mountain of cold sheets and pillows. He brought food that all went cold, untouched, where he left it.
Eventually, the tears stopped falling.
Your beloved was gone. You had to move on at some point. Yet, every time you tried to drag yourself out of his bed, your heart ached. Your very being screamed and cried and longed to be near him, held by him, just one more time. You could do little more than wither away.
Sometimes you swore you could still hear him. Though, he didn’t sound soft and caring as before. In dreams, he was screaming, crying out for you, for Thor, for anyone . You could never seem to answer.
Eventually, the screaming stopped, too.
Back to his room
Back to our roots
What did we lose?
What did we lose?
If I could
I’d pull your strings for one more dance
But I can’t
You weren’t told that Loki was still alive until he was paraded from the BiFrost to the Palace in chains. Frigga had told you what had happened. She had to support you the entire way to the throne room, just so you could see your beloved again.
He looked nothing like he used to. Certainly, his bone structure and hair was still recognizable - it was still Loki. It just wasn’t your Loki. The Loki who had asked for your hand in marriage under the stars, who had kissed you so sweetly and recited poetry with each gasp for air. This Loki was… Your heart yearned to know what had happened to him, to take away his pain.
It was Frigga who spoke first, calling gently to her son, as though scolding him.
“Hello, Mother,” he replied, crass and cold. “Have I made you proud?”
“Loki, please.” He turned his gaze to you. Piercing blue eyes that no longer held softness or warmth for that familiar plea. For you. “What happened to you?”
“I became a monster.”
You shook your head, eyes glossy with tears ready to spill over. You would have denied his claim to the ends of Yggdrasil and back had Odin not ordered you both to leave.
You collapsed in a heap of tears right outside the throne room doors. Frigga held you as he would have done, as he should have been.
Say, isn’t it strange?
Isn’t it strange?
You look at me
I look at you
With nothing to say
Isn’t it strange
How people can change
From strangers to friends
Friends into lovers
And strangers again?
“Please talk to me.” Your voice was the only kindness down here, in the prisons of Asgard.
How many times had you visited his cell now? It seemed your every waking moment was spent down here, trying desperately to get the man you loved to even look in your direction. It was always in vain. He always had his nose buried in a book, eyes focused on the pages.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, fought back the tears burning behind your eyes. You’d shed too many tears for him to not care.
“This is the last time I can visit.”
You don’t know why you expected a reaction. It wasn’t as though those words would make him leap to his feet, promise to do better, beg for you never to leave him. All he did was turn a page.
“Loki, I…” The words died in your throat. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath and tried again, slower. “I wish I could love you.”
As you left the dungeons for the final time, you couldn’t see the way Loki’s heart shattered.
Then the silence steals over to my bedside
And it whispers who I am
That violent disclosure turns my insides
Stops me when I try to stand
Isn’t it strange
How people can change
From strangers to friends
Friends into lovers
And strangers again?

Christmas is nothing special (Loki and Astrid one shot)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18+ blog: It is YOUR responsibility, as a reader, to think about the content that you consume at your own discretion.
A/N: Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year with this Christmas special one shot!
This one shot is looking into the future events of my story Divided Love, as it's one way to say I haven't completely abandoned the story, and that I am still thinking of ideas. I've just been busy writing one shots, prompt requests and I wanted to get Are you following me Mr Hiddleston? finished (which you know I managed back in October). So I hope those who have started reading Divided Love are happy to see what's in store and those who haven't read any currently available chapters will also enjoy this Christmas special too. I honestly can't wait to continue with Divided Love as there's loads of ideas swirling around in my brain and in my notes on my phone.
Also apologise for the lengthy read, but I hope you enjoy nonetheless 😊 x
~
Summary: Loki dislikes all Christmas festivities and all the merriment that comes with it, despite each year Thor tries to convince him otherwise. This year however Baron Halvar crashes in on their Christmas and his mere presence further dampens Loki's sour mood. The brute of a man belittles Loki just like he has always done, but also as Loki sees his Brother drooling all over the love of his life it pains him deeply, knowing they are to marry next summer.
Warnings: Mentions of abuse, mentions of abusive parent, mentions of difficult childhood, favouritism, arranged marriage, jealousy and some strong language
------------------------------
Loki sat on the floor cross-legged in his usual corner away from all the festivities and the merriment. Christmas was never his thing, mostly because it never felt any different to any other day, it wasn't special nor magical to him. Who could really blame him? After all the focus was on his Oaf of a brother as normal, Odin's favourite son, Asgard's favourite son even. He just wouldn't care if Christmas ceased to exist, because all he actually liked was the mulled mead, while everything else he deemed to be tedious. Despite year after year Thor attempts to prove him otherwise, which would only increase Loki's dislike towards the holiday. Although he wouldn't put it past Thor to try yet again this year to get him to change his mind about Christmas.
Also just like any other day Odin was ignoring Loki completely, no surprise there, and Frigga would occasionally smile in his direction and she'd often try to engage him in the conversations. Not that Loki would say much as most of his responses were dismissive grunts. Albeit he couldn't complain that she wasn't trying. Plus Loki only ever receives one gift at Christmas and for his birthday, another reason why he felt un-special and jealous over the huge amount Thor got. Frigga always gives him his gift and she'd include Odin and Thor on the tag, but Loki knew better, they were always just from her really. Although he was enterally grateful to her and her kind heart.
Several minutes later the mulled mead was brought in and an assortment of nuts and grapes still on their vines. Loki was quick to swipe the mead served on the golden platter, then he took two large gulps and finished it, before signaling the servant back over with the loud clatter of his goblet on the floor whilst he shouted "another." The mead was definitely a way to numb his sour mood and he planned on getting drunk before the night was out like every year. Plus he deemed it necessary after a long day of interactions with the town's people and other dull traditions, before they all settle down in the overly decorated lounging area for 'family time.'
Frigga sighed as she watched Loki down his second mulled mead and then he was quickly handed a third, but before he could even take another gulp Thor's juvenile giggling and huge grin plastered across his face distracted him. The sickening joyfulness left a taste of bitterness in Loki's mouth and his face always scrunched up with disgust at the sight.
"Such a child." Loki scuffed around the rim of his goblet before taking a gulp.
"Loki!" Frigga warned in the form of a whisper, as she hastily made her way over to him with a green wrapped gift with a gold bow on top. He rolled his eyes because of course she heard him. She then sat down next to him and gave him his Christmas present, although he took a moment longer than usual before accepting it from her, once he placed his mulled mead down next to him on the floor.
Loki carefully tore open his gift and revealed it to be a book on sorcery which was the next volume he needed. As he began to run his fingertips over the book's spine his ears pricked up at the sound of the large heavy wooden door being opened. His eyes were then taken away from his new book, his fingers remained in mid action, as he found himself staring up at the door as Baron Halvar came striding into the room. Instantly Loki's eyebrows frowned upon seeing the brute of a man dressed in his fine clothes. Hatred was a nicer word to use to describe how Loki truly felt about Halvar, as his mere presence made his blood boil, because just seeing his face always brought back horrible memories. Memories that would never be forgotten especially with how many also included such cruelty and abuse that he inflicted on his own daughter.
It seemed clear to Loki that Halvar was crashing in on their Christmas, even though he doesn't enjoy Christmas, he knew this one could very well be the worst one of all. Meaning this would be the perfect excuse to drink three times as much, so he could be black out drunk, rather than to save face with the Baron's spiteful words. However, his features softened (noticeable if anyone paid him any attention) and his heart began to beat faster, as Halvar's beautiful daughter Astrid entered the room. Her hazel eyes landed on him shortly thereafter and a smile graced her lips, until it vanished when Halvar's husky voice boomed in greeting to the All-Father. Despite her not wanting to look away she had to and then she curtsied to Odin and Frigga.
Now Loki got to see her again it just made him realise exactly how much he missed her since she departed for home with Halvar as the sun was setting on the last day of summer. He always missed her greatly when she was gone, but he was happy and surprised that she was back for Christmas. Normally Astrid would only visit during the summer, like she did every year since they were children, this way though he could see her again before next summer. So perhaps this year's Christmas won't be as dreadful with Astrid around, and maybe even make him change his mind about the Holiday. Or will it?
After Odin and Frigga greeted the Baron and Astrid he cleared his throat and finally gained Thor's attention. Upon Thor looking up from his gifts a cloud was briefly lifted from his eyes, a more grown up Thor taking over as he acknowledged their guests. He dropped everything quickly and got up onto his feet, firstly he firmly shook hands with Halvar, before turning to his fiancée and greeted her with a kiss on her knuckles. Loki's body instantly stiffened and he scowled, as he watched his Brother's goofy looking face drooling all over her like a soppy teenager in love, which made him cringe internally. Frigga's attention was taken away from their guests for a moment as she saw Loki's behaviour shift. His dagger-like glare and folded arms were clear signs of his jealousy showing. She knows. She's known for years about his, their true feelings for each other, but she's warned Loki to stay away from her. Despite how much it breaks her heart to see him stand by and let his Brother keep his promise to her, but everyone knows this is the way things are. Albeit if she had the chance to speak her peace she'd let them be themselves and they'd be free to love. For now though Frigga put on her best face.
After everyone formally greeted each other (except for Loki who remained in his corner) Halvar summoned for the gifts to be brought in. This obviously pleased Thor greatly, his enthusiastic snatching and tearing of the wrapping paper only added to his untameable excitement. Astrid knew Thor still had an inner child which made her giggle every time she saw him behave in such a manner. She soon joined him on the floor as he showed off his gifts. Loki hated having to watch these moments between his older Brother and Astrid as it pained him deeply. Seeing his Brother being bestowed such warm affections was always a tough pill to swallow, but seeing him pathetically drool and the humiliating wooing attempts towards the woman who held his heart, now that was the worst feeling in the world to Loki. Besides Frigga, Astrid is the only other person to actually care for him without any ulterior motive, she was genuine and she didn't use him in any way. She's his friend and the love of his life. Albeit as everyone knows a stupid peace treaty, an alliance between Aesirs and Vanirs would mean she would become Thor's Queen, as it was decided when they were children. Also it meant Loki wasn't supposed to interfere, he wasn't supposed to befriend her, he wasn't supposed to heal her wounds, nor was he supposed to fall in love with her. Yet the heart wants what the heart wants, and his wants to shower Astrid in unconditional love for all to see, for them all to see she is his.
"Loki?" Halvar's features were sternly set as he addressed Loki. Loki only looked over at the Baron with annoyance and saw no need to say anything. "Have you found a significant other yet? Or are you still sowing your seeds? Although whether you marry is not as important as your Brother marrying my daughter."
"That is none of your business." Loki growled causing Astrid to shiver delightfully and unexpectedly.
"Are you well?" Thor asked, noticing her shivering, as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. But as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders Astrid hissed and tried to show as very little pain as she could.
Loki could tell she was trying to hide her pain and while no one commented on it it made him furious inside. He knew her Father had hurt her again, Frigga knew too if no one else acknowledged what was going on even after all these years. Hell she'd attended to Astrid herself on many occasions when she was a child, so she knows about the scars that the bastard has left behind on her soft flesh. On top of that with Thor trying to be attentive and caring towards her was making it difficult for Loki to keep his jealousy at bay.
"Yes, thank you, just a little chilly." Astrid smiled warmly to calm Thor's concerns. With that being said Odin ordered for the fire to be made bigger then himself, Halvar and Frigga were conversing away about things that disinterested the other three.
As Loki continued to drink he was trying to ignore Thor's hand on Astrid's knee and tried not watching him as he lent over to whisper in her ear. He was failing miserably though, not that the moment lasted for very long, thankfully for Loki. Before long Thor was up on his feet and he was taking the tinsel off the Christmas tree, before he began to slowly approach Loki with it and a put on face of innocence, while Astrid watched with interest from her spot on the floor surrounded by Thor's presents.
"Don't you dare!" Loki growlingly warned.
However Thor ignored the warning and wrapped the tinsel around Loki's shoulders and around himself too. "Tis the season to be jolly, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!" Thor sang poorly but with such pure wholesomeness.
Loki groaned annoyingly at Thor. As for Astrid she was finding it amusing as Thor pressed his cheek against Loki's as he was now belting out the lyrics. Odin, Frigga and Halvar cringed slightly as Thor sang out of key, but they said nothing. Loki looked displeased with Thor trying to coax his "Christmas spirit out of hiding," as Thor would say.
"Enough!" Loki yelled, as pushed Thor forcefully away from him before the over-sentimentality could get worse. In fact the force almost sent him toppling sideways as he wasn't fully expecting it to happen, yet he should have anticipated it more than he had done.
"Awh, come now Brother, singing Christmas songs is what it's all about! Besides I learnt that Midgardian song especially for this year." Thor said as he readjusted the tinsel around his neck.
"You're such a child, Thor!" Loki spat and Odin casted a disapproving stare his way for a moment.
"I'd rather be a child than stuck up, as they say on Midgard." Thor replied sharply and ungracefully rejoined Astrid as he stepped on the long strand of tinsel on his way.
As the night went on Halvar decided to continue prodding and provoke Loki some more with his ill-advised comments after the singing was over. He was also praising Thor, he even brought up Thor's triumphs during the summer's sporting competitions. What made matters worse was Odin had to join in with praising Thor and openly displaying his proudness of his son. Frigga no doubt was proud too, but she didn't leave out the praises of Loki's own triumphs during the competitions either. Odin on the other hand had barely acknowledged Loki's wins back then which wasn't any different now either. After a while of all that talk everyone watched Thor as he recreated one of his victories during a battle with his toy army he just got. Loki rolled his eyes as Thor childishly performed a reenactment, and he began to heavily drink some more mulled mead, much to Frigga annoyance and Astrid's quiet concerns.
"Loki almost got you all killed! What foolishness, honestly, does he never learn?" Halvar abruptly interrupted the reenactment to point fingers during a crucial part half way through. Loki shook his head angrily and after he stood up he threw his empty goblet across the room. It smacked against the wall, narrowly passing Halvar's head in the process and it clanged as it met the hardwood flooring.
"LOKI!" Came Odin's ear splitting voice over the crackling fire. The room fell silent except for the fire still crackling away. All eyes swiftly shifting between Odin staring Loki down with his one eye and Loki staring right back at him. "You are to go to your chambers and not to leave unless I give consent otherwise." Odin said and banged Gungnir twice on the floor for someone to escort Loki to his chambers.
 "I can't stand another second being here anyway!" Loki snapped. He then grabbed his book before storming out of the room behind his escort. Astrid watched Loki leave, sadness in her eyes as he disappeared out of sight. She wished she could go after him, but she couldn't, not while her Father was around watching her every move. So she felt her heart ache silently for the time being.
"He needs to learn to hold his tongue and control his anger." Halvar said sharply and loud enough for Loki to still hear him down the corridor.
"Loki-"
"How dare you! My son has grown up to be a fine young man.  He did what he could, what he thought was right at the time. Everyone makes mistakes, even in the face of battle, but many returned home safely that day. And one other thing I am proud of what he did that day, he put his life on the line, as did Thor." Frigga angrily interjected over whatever Odin thought he had to say on the matter. "I have had quite enough of your company this night." Then she too left the room with her head held high. She wasn't going to allow the Baron to walk all over her son like that. Everyone watched her outburst and the All-Father huffed heavily due to the embarrassment of her actions in front of their guests.
Odin soon ordered the room to be cleared as he declared Christmas was over. The servants then proceeded to dash about and began tearing down the Christmas decorations. Thor sighed as they did so, as all the commotion had dampened the Christmas spirit, however he wasn't going to allow Christmas to be completely ruined. He jumped up onto his feet once more and helped Astrid up onto hers too, he then requested to take his fiancée out for a ride into the town for a festive drink and a dance or two. Odin didn't seem to care at the moment as he turned to his study instead. In the end Halvar granted Thor permission, surprisingly, because normally he disallowed any form of activities like that outside of the palace grounds. Thor thanked her Father and then took her by the hand and led her down the corridor. Part way down the corridor however she abruptly stopped and caused him to stop with her.
"My betrothed, my love...you seem..." Thor paused to search for a word, his face screwed up in thought for a moment. "You seem distracted...un-merry. Come, I shall get you to drink and forget thy woes, to get you to dance until dawn for the night is still young. We shan't let my Father, nor Brother ruin our first Christmas together. Mother wouldn't want us to become as sour as Loki's face."
Astrid smiled whilst holding Thor's hands in front of her and her thumbs stroking his knuckles. "As lovely as that sounds Thor, but I should retire to my chambers. I am quite weary after my travels."
"But I thought women enjoyed dancing and I thought I could buy you something for Christmas." He said with a pouting lip.
"It can all wait for me another time. Now you go and enjoy yourself." She said and kissed his cheek before making her way up the stone staircase.
As much as Thor wanted to parade her around as he often did he still wanted to party nonetheless, knowing full well Sif and the warriors three would be in attendance, then he at least would have some company. So as soon as his fiancée was out of sight he ran off and headed on horse back into town to celebrate.
------------------------------
This distance from everyone was exactly what Loki needed, it was too overwhelming to stay in the room, especially because Halvar and his belittling really got under his skin. He also had to calm down before he did something that he might regret. This distance thankfully came with some fresh air too, as he found himself standing outside on the balcony from his chambers, as he overlooked the view below. His mind had wandered off and his jealousy had subsided somewhat too.
Suddenly there was a knock from behind him pulling him out of his thoughts. He quickly turned on his booted heels to find Astrid standing at the door leading to the balcony. Her hands were behind her back and a smile formed on her lips. Loki sighed and shook his head as a smile tugged at his own lips knowing she eventually escaped the others too.
"Merry Christmas, Loki." Astrid said warmly, as she stepped out onto the balcony with her hands still behind her back.
"Merry Christmas, love. I-I'm sorry for what happened..." Loki started his apology, but then he looked down at his feet, and he seemed to find his boots to be more interesting.
"Loki?" She stopped in front of him and then she reached her left hand out, hooking her fingers under his chin, so she gently got him to look up at her. "Loki, we've known each other since we were children and I know when something is bothering you." Her hand then caressed his cheek lovingly.
Loki closes his eyes and leans into her touch for a moment before he puts his hand over hers and kisses her palm. "It pains me..." he says quietly, as he now stares down at the extravagant ring on her finger. He knows by next summer she and Thor are to be married, as time is running out on them, due to Astrid approaching her 1000th birthday that very same summer too. The exact deadline which Odin and Halvar agreed upon the marriage to take place as a way to keep the peace between the realms. "It pains me to see you with my Brother...it pains me deeply knowing that bastard hurt you again." He says, as his eyebrows frown and his cheeks sunken by the sadness set on his features.
"I know, my love...but please none of that now." She replies softly before she reveals the present she had hidden behind her back the entire time. "Open it."
At first he was taken back as they'd made a pact when they were very young to never exchange gifts. It was meant to stop them from getting attached to each other, albeit the lack of gift giving couldn't stop feelings from developing between them. Of course such childish beliefs wouldn't be able to delta them, but again they were children at the time.
He carefully slid the lid off the perfectly wrapped box in the same manner he did with every present he received. Then he moved the tissue paper to each side and there underneath was a beautiful gold bladed dagger with a black leather hilt with an emerald on its pommel. He couldn't believe his eyes, even as he removed the dagger from its box, and he let the box drop by their feet. His long fingers wrapped around it firmly, as his index finger on the other now free hand lightly touched the tip of the blade, and not drawing any blood.
"When I saw it I instantly thought of you...the sharpness of the blade is as sharp as your wits, the smooth finish is as cold as your hands, the black leather hilt as black as your leather boots, the emerald sparkles like the mischief in your eyes and the gold as gold as your good heart." Astrid said honestly.
Loki couldn't help but feel warmth inside nor could he stop himself from showing her how much he appreciated his gift. He held the dagger by his side, and then pulled Astrid flush against his firm chest with his free hand on her back, before his lips came crashing against hers. He kissed her with such passion and heat almost as if he was afraid it would be their last. But it ended too quickly, yet she had to pull away, as the position he held her caused her to wince in pain.
"Ow!" She cried and her eyes screwed up tight to force the tears away.
"Come." He said softly and guided by the hand back inside.
With a snap of his fingers the doors closed behind them as the dagger disappeared into his pocket dimension. He then got her to lay down on her stomach on his bed. Once she was as comfortable as she was going to get he knelt on the bed and gently worked on her tight corset. She took a deep welcoming breath when she was set free from the resections from her corset, then Loki saw that some old scars were torn open, and even some new slashes met her imperfect flesh. He swallowed around the lump that formed in his throat as tears pricked his own eyes. He truly despised Halvar with a passion and the iron fist he wheeled.
Then with a flick of Loki's wrist a bowl of water floated beside the bed with a cloth appearing in his hand. He firstly soaked the cloth in the water and rung it out before he gently patted her wounds. She gripped onto the bed's silky sheets as she allowed her tears to fall, while small whimpers escaped her lips. After Loki finished bathing her wounds the bowl and cloth disappeared and were replaced by a soothing lotion which he had made himself. He applied a generous amount to her beaten flesh, while his hands glowed as seidr helped to boost her healing, and he lovingly took his time to make sure he'd covered all of her wounds.
"I love you so much." Loki said, as he lay down on his side beside her once he snapped his fingers to change her into a nightgown.
"I love you too." Astrid said, as she raised her hand to his cheek again. Tears had stained her cheeks.
"Run away with me?!" He asked, as he then held her hand over his heart instead
"Loki...." She sighs.
"I can't watch you marry Thor and see you become his Queen...no, listen..." He started and with his freehand he silenced her protests with his finger to her lips for a second. "He doesn't deserve you, my love. He doesn't know what love really is, nor does he know how to make you truly happy. His arrogance and stupidity cannot keep you safe...now if you were to run away with me you wouldn't have to put up with him and you'd be with me. We'd go somewhere where no one would find us, somewhere that brute won't lay a finger on you again either, you'd be free." He then leans in closer and places his forehead against hers.
Astrid sighs again. "As much as I want that more than anything in this entire realm...but it is my duty. We've always known this day would come...for now though please let our first Christmas be a happier one and cease talk of what is to come. I am not married yet and I want to spend what time we have left together before I return home....before I have to marry Thor...now read to me."
Astrid carefully slipped off the bed and took some blankets over by the fireplace. Loki followed suit with some pillows and then they created a cozy area with the blankets and pillows in front of the fireplace. Once settled down with Astrid's head resting on Loki's shoulder and he gently wrapped his arm around her middle as a fairytale book appeared in his other hand. He then proceeded to read to her from the book which she loved since they were children. His velvety voice ended up lulling her to a peaceful sleep in his arms.

Can I make a request for Loki x princess reader? She’s from a visiting kingdom and 3rd in line. But her older sisters are cruel along with their mother and do everything they can to keep her out of sight. Frigga isn’t having it and invites her to tea and other outings regardless of what her mother says. She’s a little younger than Loki and short so she gets excluded at home a lot. Loki takes a liking to her and brings her to see the rest of Asgard and invites her to private dinners. Later Odin announces Lokis betrothal and as the sisters get ready to walk forward, he calls readers name instead and it gets kinda rubbed in their faces by some of the other people cause they know they’ve been sucking up to the throne… where the reader has been polite, kind and just herself. Kinda like the whole “Ever After” film.
We love a Cinderella inspired story here ✨
A kinda of a Cinderella story
You knew this visit would be as awful as the other ones, it wasn’t because you didn’t want to see Asgard but you just knew your mother along with your sister will try to treat you like you don’t exist.
Just because you were the *accident child* your dear mother didn’t want any more children after the second daughter but you came and she couldn’t care less for you, and what made it worse was how your father become closer to you more than your eldest sisters.
You’re always pushed back, hidden in the shadows of your older sister and it didn’t help that they were both taller than you so it was impossible to be noticed with them in front of you.
When you walked into to meet the royal family, you were of course in the back, hissed at to be quiet.
You could see your sisters already giggling and gushing over the two princess oh Asgard.
"These are my daughters your majesty" she introduced them both and obviously you were not even mentioned, not until you felt a pair of eyes watching you.
Emerald green ones staring directly your way, the youngest prince had seemed to notice you in the back and whispered something to his mother.
Frigga smiled warmly then spoke "young girl in the back, what’s your name?"
That made your mother and sisters furious.
"She’s not important your highness! Just a family member who carries no value"
Frigga didn’t like the way she spoke of you, even if you weren’t family she didn’t like to speak low of others.
You even said your name then bowed keeping your glaze low.
Loki repeated your name in his head multiple times.
After the introduction you were surprised even more when a maid came to tell you that you’re invited to have tea not just with the queen herself but her son Loki too.
Your mother tried to play with your head and make you feel guilty for even thinking of going.
"You’re a selfish young girl, you know this could be an opportunity for your sisters!"
You were done with her bullshit at that point and brushed her off which resulted in her cussing you out and making you feel worthless.
Frigga was so kind to you, she actually listened to you and respected your opinions and oh sweet loki.
Even though he was known as the god of mischief, he was so respectful and polite and you hit it off with his so fast.
Loki would then start inviting you for strolls through asgard every so often and invite you to private dinners that only you both and a few individuals knew about.
"You’re more than a spoiled princess I see"
"You have no idea believe me"
It was by the end of the trip that Odin announced that he had an important announcement to make and recurred everyone to be present there.
As usual you stood in the back and your sister stood tall with ear reaching smiles.
You could see Loki wearing his armor and standing next to Odin, he winked at you before Turning his attention to his father.
"I gathered you all here to announce that my youngest son, Loki has chosen a wife and it so happens to be one of the Lin family’s daughters"
You swallowed them flinched when your pushed you to the back and stood behind her daughters with a proud look on her face.
But the happiness once on your family’s face faded as Odin spoke your name and Loki looked straight back at you with his little mischief smile you grew to adore.
"Child, come up" your family moved out of the way as you walked towards the throne and Loki walked down to meet you at the bottom of the stairs.
He took your hands and brought them to his lips.
Your heart fluttered and your cheeks warmed up.
This was more than you could have ever imagined.
"Tell me I’m not dreaming" you whispered.
"Does this feel real enough for you?" Then he kissed your lips.
His brother whistled and clapped, followed with everyone in the room expect your family.
Your sister were on the verge of tears and your mother looked just broken ready to crumble if anybody touched her.
And honestly, you didn’t feel bad.
Frigga hugged and Odin nodded his head in approval, both giving you their blessings.
"We still have a long way to go darling"
"I’m willing to go through it if it’s with you"

Best Gift Ever!
Tumblr media
pairing: thor odinson x female reader
warnings: none
||main masterlist||thor odinson masterlist||christmas masterlist||
You and Thor had been together since he first came to Earth, he even took you back to Asgard with him and luckily for the both of you Odin and Frigga enjoyed your company and gave your relationship their blessing. Even the people of Asgard liked you which surprised Thor as he knew they were expecting him to marry someone from Asgard. So when he decided it was time to go back to Earth people were more accepting as they now understood his obsession with the place.
Your first Christmas with the god was difficult as he didn’t understand the need for an extravagant meal and decorations, but now all these years later it happens to be his favourite time of the year. He enjoys spending time with those he cares for and spoiling them with gifts that he hopes show just how much he loves and appreciates those around him.
This year the team agreed it would be best if they spent the morning with their families and that you’d all meet for dinner as it wouldn’t be Christmas without the rest of the Avengers. You were looking forward to this Christmas as you had a present Thor had always wanted but wasn’t expecting to get this year.
“Good morning my love, merry christmas.” You woke Thor with a cup of coffee and a kiss knowing he wouldn’t be annoyed at how early you’d awoken, “Merry Christmas my queen, I’m very excited to give your present however, I’m more excited for a certain tradition we have.” With that you were pulled under the covers and participated in your annual Christmas morning sex.
Once the two of you had finished Thor carried you into the living room excited to see what you had gotten him. “I wanna go first!” The man exclaimed once the two of you were sitting comfortably, “Okay so I didn’t get you much but I’m hoping you still like everything.” He said whilst pulling over a ridiculous amount of gifts. “Thor I only bought you a few things, this is far too much, every year you go overboard.” You said with a laugh, “I can never get you too much, on Asgard you’d be spoiled with the finest garments and jewels but they’d seem far too sophisticated for Midgard so I have to spoil you some other way.” The god explained his reasoning, “Calm down my love, I’m only teasing. Now what one am I opening first?” You asked quickly to change the subject.
It took around two hours to open all of Thor’s presents as he kept stopping to explain his reasoning behind each present and now it was your turn to be the gift giver. “So it’s very important you open your presents in a specific order. So I’ll be handing them to you one by one.” The man groaned at this as he enjoyed ripping open each present one by one.
You handed the man his first present and were trying not to laugh at the confusion on his face, “Darling why have you gotten me another stocking with only my last name on?” He asked hoping you’d have some kind of explanation for the random gift, instead of replying you handed him his next present which consisted of a mug that says ‘best dad ever’, “Darling you know how I feel about you calling me your cat's dad it’s very strange.” You knew the god was disappointed in his present so far but he was too kind to offend you so he pretended as though they were amazing.
“Okay this is your last present and I really hope you like it.” You said as you handed the man the neatly wrapped gift. Once it was opened he sat there in a state of shock, no words said yet as he took in the sight that was in front of him. Minutes passed before he was finally able to speak, “Are you serious?” He questioned tears in his eyes at the positive test in front of him that was completed with an ultrasound of your child. “Very serious my love, we’re going to be parents.” You were quickly embraced by the god who couldn’t contain his tears, “This is the best gift ever. I can't wait to raise a child with you.” Thor was ecstatic as he believed he’d have to wait at least another five years before you were ready to settle down.
It’s safe to say this was the best gift either of you have ever received.

What I Missed - Loki Laufeyson
summary: while in custody at the TVA, loki realizes what he misses from the future, only to be surprised by what he gets in the present
word count: 2100+
warnings: a little angsty, a little emotional, mention of loki’s death, episode 1 spoilers
Tumblr media
Today was certainly not Loki’s day.
Over the course of a few hours (or more, or less, this is the TVA, afterall) he had been in the custody of the Avengers, had happened upon the Tesseract and escaped from New York. It seemed too good to be true, and it was. Just when he thought he had truly outsmarted the Earthly heroes again, he was imprisoned and taken again.
Now here he was, under the supervision of the Time Variance Authority and one, Mobius, a bizarre administrator in charge of tracking down the most dangerous of variants. It all seemed like madness to Loki. He was used to silly games and grandiose tricks but this story of timelines and space lizards seemed beyond even his own trickery. It seemed downright absurd. And annoying.
He had been subject to what he would call an interrogation. Mobius, however, called it a simple conversation. A slideshow of his life, his “greatest hits” as Mobius had called it and a relentless fire of questions, the memory of which continued to burn in his memory:
Should you return, what are you going to do?
King of Midgard? Then what, happily ever after?
King of Space?
Why does someone with so much capability just want to rule?
Do you enjoy hurting people?
That one had burned most of all. Did he enjoy hurting people? Hardly. And it was upsetting to him that anyone would think that. But he also understood what he appeared to be to every other living creature. He had just relived the moment in which he killed that daft agent and his mother. His mother. He refused to believe he was at fault for that. Frigga was the only person who truly saw him and whom Loki cared for deeply. But it seemed so clear in the moving picture, he had led them right to her.
It was in that moment, with tears and rage in his eyes, he knew he needed to get out of the disastrous time circus. He no longer cared to be a monkey in this ring. If he could find the tesseract, he could escape and be free once again.
That plan had gone almost perfectly. The only thing that went wrong - there is no magic in the TVA. No matter how many times he held the tesseract in his hands, wishing it to take him back to Midgard or Asgard, he was met with nothing but the bland walls in this TVA Time Theater. There was no hope in escaping.
Feeling exhausted, Loki slowly moves toward the table in the center of the room. He sits down and admires the machine in front of him. As grim as the stories it held could be, it was still quite fascinating that it could replay the highlights from his life - in a weird way, at least. He reaches out and turns the knob, searching for the moment his mother dies. He finds it and watches in silence for a while, tears beginning to fall down his face.
He turns the knob again.
He sees a future version of himself sitting next to his father and Thor. He watches as his father declares his love for his sons. Sons, plural. Both Thor and him. A small smile graces Loki’s face before Odin disappears, leaving the two men behind. Loki holds back a sob as tears continue to flood from his eyes. His father did love him, did see purpose for him. He wasn’t just the mischievous son. He’s sad that it took this long to understand that, and sad that he never got to experience this himself, even if a future version of him did.
Another turn of the knob.
This scene immediately feels different. He sees a garden, full of life, beautiful flowers blooming in every direction. He sees himself, sitting under a tree smiling next to a young woman. As the scene progresses he realizes this version of him is smiling at you. He lets out a small gasp when he watches the pair share a kiss and wipes the quickly falling tears from his cheeks. He had always loved you, but had never gotten the chance to tell you. The two of you had met through Thor, when he brought both you and Jane to Asgard. He had taken to you quickly, enjoying your similar sarcasm and humor - something that was scarce within his home realm. You, like his mother, had always seen the good in him and had understood his struggle. It was something he would never understand, you being of Midgard. You knew what he had done and had been there to see the destruction, but still saw him not as the God of Mischief or Earth Enemy #1, only Loki. He aches for the fact that he never got to feel the happiness his future self did, especially when it was happiness with you.
Turn the knob.
Loki and Thor stand in a room together. Loki lets out a small laugh in the midst of his tears, wondering how his oaf of a brother managed to lose an eye. Maybe a dumb bet between the two of them, maybe there was a battle amongst the nine realms. He’s quickly pulled from his thoughts as he hears Thor speak.
“Maybe you’re not so bad after all, brother.”
“Maybe not,” the future Loki responds.
“Thank you,” Thor replies, “If you were here, I might even give you a hug.”
“I’m here.”
Loki smiles and nods to himself. From where he’s sitting now, it’s a wonder that he and his brother ever made up. He realizes now that the fighting and the sibling rivalry may have all been in his head. He, again, curses himself for leaving New York and allowing himself to miss these moments that he’s been waiting his whole life for.
Fast-forward.
He and you lay in a room, seemingly on the same ship as the previous scene. You lay snug against his chest, his arms wrapped tightly around you. You hum softly before speaking up.
“I love you, you know.”
By the look on both of your faces, it’s the first time this has been said out loud. There’s nervous tension in the room, Loki can feel it through this screen. He somehow knows the words his future self is going to say before he hears them.
“I love you too, darling. You bring out the best in me.”
You snuggle closer to him, if that’s even possible, and there’s a comfortable silence for a few seconds. Loki takes a moment to admire this picture. It was something he had wanted since he had first met you on Asgard. You had stuck out like a sore thumb, dressed in your casual Midgardian clothes. He couldn’t have missed you even if he tried, nobody could have. And boy was he glad about that now.
“Promise me something,” he watches himself say.
“Anything,” you whisper. “Anything for you, Loki.”
“Promise me, no matter what, you’ll always help me see the good in myself. I’ve too long suffered at the hands of those who desperately wish for me to see the bad.”
You let out a laugh and the Loki stuck in time laughs with you, “Oh, Loki. I wish you could see yourself as I see you. But I promise.”
“Thank you, my love.”
“You, Loki, may be a God, but you will always just be the man I fell in love with. The good, kind, and honorable man I call mine.”
Turn, again.
Loki sees himself kneeling and before he can question why, he watches as his future self moves to attack someone in front of him. When Loki realizes it's Thanos, he’s quickly on his feet, moving closer to the screen. The tears are gone now, and a silent rage burns behind his eyes. There was nothing from Loki but hate for the purple titan. He watches in horror as Thanos picks Loki up from the floor, a death grip on his neck. Loki wonders to himself how he would get himself out of this scenario had he been there. He assumes an illusion would do the trick. However, he notices your distraught figure behind the mad titan. He can hear your screams as you kneel next to Thor, who is imprisoned in cuffs. He hears you call out to him and he knows this will not end well. His suspicions are right when he watches his death. A shocked gasp comes from his throat as the tape in front of him runs out, nothing left to show.
Loki quickly sits back down and closes his eyes, trying his hardest to process the vision he saw. To one version of him, these would have been experiences and now memories. To him, though, these were all subtle tastes of a life he lost. He lost a touching moment with his father and a long awaited declaration of love from him. He lost the reconciliation with his brother and the confession that they had been more partners than rivals. Even though to him it had not yet happened, he missed it all, and it upset him deeply.
What hurt Loki the most was the idea that he lost his chance to feel his love reciprocated. Loki had never had much luck with romance. He was often seen as the sly younger brother and was usually too occupied to try and compete with Thor for the maidens at court. When he met you, he thought he had a chance. You were the first woman who saw him as his own person and not just as Thor’s brother. The relationship between the two of you had blossomed quickly and he found himself always sneaking away from his princely duties to see you. He had shown you his favorite places in Asgard and had opened up to you in ways he had never done before. He loved you and wanted you to be his. His one regret was not initiating a relationship before you had left for Midgard. And he thought his chances had been ruined by his actions in New York. Oh, how wrong he was.
Before Loki can dwell on his future more, Mobius comes bursting into the room.
“Ah Loki, glad you made your way back here. I have something for you,” he says.
“If this is another one of your tricks, I’m not currently in the mood,” Loki responds coolly.
“Just trust me on this one.”
Mobius shouts over his shoulder for someone to “bring her in.” Loki eyes the guards who walk in suspiciously until he notices who they bring with them. He can hardly believe his eyes. The gods in all the realms must be smiling down on him today, after all, because there you stand. He takes in your hideous red and white space suit, emblazoned with the Avengers logo, and he’s at least thankful he missed whatever battle this suit was required for.
He quickly stands and rushes over to you, a smile quickly gracing his face. You meet his gaze with a smile that is just as big and tears begin to flow from your eyes.
“Loki,’ you start. “Is that really you?”
He nods and speaks, although his words are barely audible, “It’s me, my love.”
“God, I thought I lost you forever. That’s why I went back in time to find you.”
Loki nods, now, unable to believe what he’s hearing, “You went back to find me?”
“Yes, but look what good that did me,” you say with a smirk. Loki’s heart pulls and he feels he could fall over right there. Norns, he missed you and your witty humor.
“Well,” he says, reciprocating your sly attitude, “You found me did you not? I might not be the same Loki as you knew, but I am still Loki.”
“The good, kind, and honorable Loki that I call mine.”
Loki smiles and you move forward to give him a hug. You’re cautious, though, because you aren’t exactly sure what part of the timeline this Loki came from. Maybe you had already been dating, maybe not. That was something to figure out another time though.
“Alright then,” Mobius says from behind you, “Let’s get you two caught up on what you missed with each other.”
Today was certainly not Loki’s day. And he had cursed all that was good that he had ended up at the TVA, taken from the life he knew. But now? He didn’t mind. He knew the relationships that were broken with his brother and father had been mended, he knew that one version of him had sacrificed himself for good and he had you, not only in memory but in the flesh. And sure, you had lots to rediscover within your relationship, but you would do that together.

Loki x Pregnant!Reader HCs
*xFemale!Reader
Tumblr media
Shocked — not that it happened, but that it finally happened. When you found out you simply could not contain your joy, so you ran up to him and hugged him, practically jumping in his arms, luckily he caught you, but was nonetheless shocked at what was going on. “It happened, it happened!” You smiled in near tears // “wh-what’s happened?” Loki asked, almost wincing, as most surprises in his life hadn’t been good ones. “I’m pregnant!” You spoke through happy tears. It took him a moment to actually process that, but when he did he began peppering kisses all over your face speaking phrases of love in between.
Where to have the baby — once you found out you were pregnant it was one of the first questions you asked. Loki said he didn’t have a problem with earth, but you protested, “earth is so boring,” you whined. // “alright then, Asgard,” he gave in. // you pursed your lips, before looking up to him with mischievousness written all over your face, “what about Jötunheim?” Loki gave a head tilt, “what? That’s where you were born.” You shrugged and he laughed. “Darling, I don’t think-“ // “we sneak in,” you gestured, “we sneak out. Easy.” // Loki smiled, “yes and somewhere in there you’ll be in labour, having a baby, in the freezing cold,” he stated, you giggled, “Asgard it is.”
On world — naturally you want him to be there with you the entire time, but he’s frequently called back to Asgard, usually for something that someone else could’ve done, but Odin wants to keep his eye on him. This what brought about Loki asking you to come to Asgard with him.
↳ “I don’t care what Father will think anymore,” he tells you, hand softly stroking your stomach, even though the bump is barely visible yet, “I just want you two to be the safest you can be,” he flicks his eyes up to you, “and I want to be ask close as possible.” // To your surprise when you came with him, Frigga was the perfect mentor you needed and best friend you could have, “hello, child,” she greeted you and gracefully set a hand on your shoulder and stomach, bending down a little, speaking in a whisper, “that includes you too.” Odin disapproved and Thor kept his distance, mildly awkward about the situation.
He’s extremely nervous — he’s not too sure about being a father. While he knows he’ll never be like Odin, that was clear enough, he had no idea what he’d be like. He didn’t have a good image of how to be a father, so he worried he’d be a terrible one. There’s a lot of reassurance that has to happen, Loki’s always asking “what if?” which sometimes makes you laugh due to the scenarios he comes up with.
He loves having a hand on your stomach — any and every chance he gets, he’ll sit next to you, be lying next to you, and just softly rest his hand against any part of your stomach. He also ALWAYS asks before he just touches, with a quiet, “may I?” He strokes his fingertips against your skin, sometimes traces patterns, while you’re preoccupied with reading or something.
↳ “Loki, c’mere, quick!” You called him over from the fireplace, as you were resting on the Emerald couch. He rushes over to your side, thinking something’s wrong, but instead you softly take his wrist and slip his hand up your shirt, finding the right place before saying, “wait for it.” He waits patiently, not sure what for, until against his palm he can feel a little hand pushing back. He smiles with a few tears quickly coming to his eyes, “that’s- that’s incredible,” he manages in awe, he lifts his hand to see the subtle outline of a smaller hand, and begins tracing it for the few moments it lasts. All the while, you stroke his hair behind his ear so it doesn’t fall in his face.
Hugs — he’s changed how he hugs you after knowing you’re pregnant, as to prevent from “squishing” the baby, even though you’ve told him he won’t with a gentle hug. Nevertheless, he still takes precautions. Now more often than not he’ll hug you from begin, bringing your back directly against his chest, and his hands tenderly against your stomach as you lean back into him. He also nuzzles his nose against the crook of your neck, sometimes kissing just under your ear. || Normal hugs are obvious still a thing, he’s just much more aware of how tightly he squeezes you.
Magic — at night you easily get hot and have body aches. Luckily for you, Loki has learned to turn Jotun on command. || it was in the middle of the night when you dramatically (past the point of annoyed) threw off the blankets in bed that Loki woke up and asked what was happening, “I’m. so. hot,” you stated. “Well,” Loki perked an eyebrow, “I already knew that, but I like this new sense of self-confidence,” when he attempted to go in for a kiss against your neck, you playfully, slapped his shoulder, he chuckled knowing you’d do something like that, “what do you need? How can I help?” // “I need, to go to Jötunheim,” you whined. You turned onto your side facing away from Loki, tossing a foot over the side of the bed; Loki looked at his arm and considered. Next thing you knew there was a wonderfully cold sensation pressing against your spine, with a gasp at first you hummed delighted as the cooling sensation spread throughout your body. Loki snaked his arm against your back to help spread the cold, “I’ll have to keep that in mind,” he smirked to himself, having not heard you make a sound like that in months.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The silence was rattling. It creeped into the room, slowly,menacingly. Threatening to make him go mad. It wrapped around his body like a familiar friend. Making it hard for him to breath as it suffocated him. He knew they were staring at him. Trying to figure out what he would do next, whether he would break or not. Truthfully he didn’t know what he would do. For now he just starred as well. Not at them, of course not. He stared at the one thing that mattered. His reason for waking up and living. The one person in this entire universe who gave his world color. He reached out to touch her. Touch the hands that were always so warm against his cold skin. Hands that held his firm and sure as she pulled him along behind her, a smile on her beautiful face. Hands that were now cold and limp, the radicant glow she had been known for gone dark. The colors she brought to his world dimmed to dull, gre, muted hues. Then a sound broke through the silence. two sounds actually. One a wail of new life, a baby taking her first breaths, and another. A wail of a man who has lost everything. A wail of agony and pain.
As the healers bustled around him, Loki had only one thought in his head.
“What am I supposed to do without you”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three months later and Loki still felt the emptiness left by his love. He heard her at night, humming sweet melodies as she stroked his hair. He hears her heartbeat as he eventually falls asleep, worn out by his constant tears. His room is in shambles, his clothes strewn about the floor, furniture smashed, everything is destroyed. Except for the things that belong to her. Her silk dresses that draped on her body perfectly were still hanging, untouched. The books she spent hours reading and re-reading remained on the shelf, collecting dust as they were no longer used. He doesn’t let anyone in their chambers. The space where they both shared. Space where they fought, made up, made love. To let someone else in would be tainting it. Soiling the memories they made together. That was one thing he could never do.
Another was look at the little monster who is responsible for this tragedy.
It was a girl. The daughter of one Loki Odinson and his beloved.
Ironic. This child was supposed to bring happiness with its birth. Not even cleaned and it already managed to take away Loki’s light. He can barely stand looking at it. He tried, of course  he tried. But within minutes he had to call the nurse to take it away. Why?
Because she has her mothers eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Loki”
“Get out”
“Loki, it's been nine months since your child was--”
“THAT THING IS NO CHILD OF MINE”
Frigga was taken aback. She knew her son was heartbroken, devastated at the loss of his wife. But to disown his daughter, that was something she didn’t see coming.
“Loki, you are being unreasonable.”
“Unreasonable? My wife has died because if that creature--”
“It is a child. A babe who has no idea who her father nor her mother is.”
“And as far as I’m concerned she never will!” Loki shouts, finally looking up at his mother.
Frigga heart breaks for her son. She sees the utter agony he is in, the inner torment going on in his soul. Even if she didn’t see it in his face, the state of his room and self gives it away. He looks like he hasn’t bathed in the nine months that has passed. His clothes were rumpled and wrinkled, hair unkempt and wild. His face was pale and hollow, as if he was only eating enough to survive. He had dark bags under his eyes that showed that he hasn’t been sleeping well.  He truly was a man who was broken, almost beyond repair.
“My son” Frigga said carefully,” I can never understand the pain you are going through, I pray to Valhalla I will not have to anytime soon. But please if not for yourself or that child, for the memory of her, attempt to see your daughter before making a rash decision.” And with that, she walked out of his chamber, leaving Loki to the silence again as he stared at the spot his mother stood. considering her words, he got up. picked up his room, went to bathe and walked out of the room for the first time in nine months.
His face held no emotion as he walked down the hallways. He saw the servants stop and stare at him, shock filled their face as they saw the prince. He glared at them, sending them scurrying at the dark glance. He reached the nursery, the maid who oversaw the nursery tried to stop him.
“My lord, you--”
“Where is the child.” He said, calm and cool. The maid looked at him in fear, not knowing how to respond. At her silence, Loki scoffed and pushed her away, marching into the nursery. Upon entering he froze, memories of him and his beloved discussing the design they wanted for their child
**“Darling, why does the color shade matter? It’s not like the child has expectations.”
Laughter fills the air, “Loki, we must put every effort into showing our child they are loved. That includes finding the perfect shade of green to go with the room”
Loki looks at his wife, gently smiling.”If you say so my dear”**
The room was perfect. The walls were a beautiful shade of green that allowed the light into the room. There were vines and flowers crawling up the walls and draped over curtains. A white and gold crib stood in the middle of the chamber. A veil draped over it, preventing Loki from seeing the child inside. He was thankful as he worked up the courage to walk up to it. He looked out the window, seeing the stars that covered the sky, the lights of Asgard covering the earth.
She would have loved it.
He took a deep breath and walked toward the crib. He pulled back the veil only to see that there was no child in there.
“The babe is with your mother my lord.”
He turned to the maid. Embarrassed that she might have witnessed him reminiscing.
“And where is my mother” He asked
“In-in the dining hal--”
He walked away before she was able to finish her sentence. He took long strides to the hall, wondering his his mother had tricked him into eating with the family.On the way, he passed a window overlooking the garden. He thinks of the times where he used to sit in it and listen to her read.
***  “...exquisite, in question more. These happy masks that kiss fair ladies’ brows”
“My love, why do you insist on reading these midgardian stories?”
Her laughter  reaches his ears, “Because beloved, it's a different perspective to something familiar”
“Oh? and what is that ?”
“Love”  ***
“oki--”
Hearing his name, Loki is brought back to present times once more. He looks to see Thor, watching him with careful eyes.
“Brother, it is wonderful to see you.”
“I wish I can say the same.”
Thor laughs, a soft chuckle compared to the booming laughter Loki knows he is capable of.
“Ah Loki, your dry wit has been missed”
Loki rolls his eyes and starts walking and Thor follows. The two walking in silence.
“What is it like?” Loki says softly. Thor looks at him in confusion.
“It?”
“The child.”
“Oh brother, Y/n is--”
“Y/n?”
That was the name she wanted. If they were to have a girl. She was determined, seeing the name in the book she loved to read. He remembers when they were telling his family she was with child.
*** Everyone was seated, servants bustling around the long table. Laughter filled the hall as the sun was setting.
“Loki, you said you had news to tell us” Frigga said, taking a sip of her wine.
Loki smiled, looking at his wife. Her face absolutely radiant as she flashes a smile of pure joy.
“ Well,” Loki waits till Thor has taken a large swig of ale, “ My beloved and are are expecting a child.”
Gasps fill the room as well as Thor's hacking, ale being spewed on the table.
“Oh Loki that is wonderful!!”  Frigga exclaims standing from her seat to embrace him. “Oh my dear, this is the most wonderous news,”
“BROTHER I can’t believe it!” Thor exclaims, lifting Loki in a crushing hug. And for once, he didn’t mind it.  He turns to her and hugs her more gently. “ You are just full of surprises aren’t you, starlight”
Laughter, “Thor, I thought I told you to stop calling me that”
Silence fills the hall as Odin clears his throat, “ Loki, you have made me proud.”
Loki smiles as his love beams at him.
“Thank you father.”**
They reached the dining hall. A cold feeling formed in the pits of his stomach. He can see his mother, talking with a maid as she bounces the child. He can’t see it, as Frigga's back is turned to him. Odin’s presence is notably absent, a small relief on Loki's part.
Thor notices his brother’s nerves, he pats him on the back and says, “You can do this Loki.” Then walks off to join his mother. He kisses his mothers cheek and smiles at the child. He picks her up, bouncing her a few times  prompting a small laugh. Loki gimances at the sound.
Thor walks up to him with the baby.
“Loki, this is Y/n Odinson”
He looks at the child. He takes in its features, Beautiful curly hair, already thick and voluminous even at this age. Brown skin, unblemished and clean. Cheeks, chubby with baby fat. And...its eyes. Those damn eyes, he could barely stand it, (e/c) eyes, the same as his lost love. In fact, almost all it’s features that once belonged to his darling. A pain filled his body. He really couldn’t stand looking at this child.
Not when his beloved wasn’t there to gaze upon their child as well.
No, this was not his child. Not anymore.
“Get rid of it.”
Shock filled the faces of both Thor and Frigga.
“Loki you cannot be serious.”
“Brother..”
“I SAID GET RID OF IT” Loki shouts. “I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THAT LITTLE MONSTER.”
And with that he leaves the dining hall. Leaving behind  his mother, brother and the last piece of his wife he had. He hears it’s cries fill the silence.
He had only one thought in his head as he entered his chambers.
“What am I supposed to do without you”
Loki Laufeyson:Delusions (Loki x Reader)
Warning: NONE! Slight Mean + Sad Loki
A/N: Love this one! I always feel so bad for Loki in Thor The Dark World :(
Summary: After Loki returns to Asgard he is immediately sent to prison for his crimes on Earth. Unfortunate events occur when Asgard is under attack and you just want nothing more than to check in on your beloved.
Word Count: 2k+
*NOT MY GIF* Do not copy my work
Tumblr media
The news of Loki return to Asgard was both worrisome and exciting. There were rumors being spread about that he was returning as a fugitive for the destruction of not only earth, but the crimes that he had committed against  Asgard. You of course found yourself just happy to know that he was alive. He may not had been well, but sure he was very much alive.
Living. Breathing. Speaking.
Out of all Thor’s closest friends, you and Loki bounded the most, which caused you solely, to develop feelings for him. These feelings would lead to a sever fallout between you and your warrior companions. With Loki’s criminal accusations, hate and critism came from many, especially from Sif and Fandral. For you to still think highly of him,--well you were considered a traitor in their eyes.
When he returned you were forbidden to pay him any visits. Odin also ordered that the only visitors Loki received were of kin and even those visits were kept very minimal. Now with the unbearable news of Frigga’s death you worried about his sanity even more than before.
The queen has been deceased for a few days now, Thor was easily consoled  by Jane’s presents and the support of the Asgardian people who were also mourning their queen. However no one was concerned for the fallen prince, except for you. You knew that his crimes were severe, but nothing was more torturous than knowing of your mothers death and there is nothing for you to do because you are locked away without even the slightest hope of saying goodbye.
For days you try to receive information on the location of where Loki was being held. You are a warrior of Asgard, you should have known these things, but because of your so-called bias-ness for the Prince of Mischief you weren’t allowed. Your inquiries about Loki’s whereabouts in the palace were extremely noticeable and you received a lot of animosity for it, especially from Lady Sif. She called you stupid and selfish for wanting to see him. You were also accused of not having any dignity or self respect. No one would tell you directly where Loki was being held, but with enough sneaking around the palace, you finally over heard a few guards speaking of his whereabouts.
With the common criminals.
-
You have been watching two sets of guards for more than an hour. You wanted to  slip past them undetected, but you needed to wait for the perfect moment. You weren't one of the most skilled warriors in fighting but you were known for your intelligence and abilities to be clever in any situation. The plan was for you to create a diversion to get the guards away from the staircase leading down to the dungeons.  You knew that since the palace had been attacked from the inside out the guards would be on high alert. You cast a large stone, breaking a window to which the guards attention is drawn to the noise. They run into the direction of the shattering glass. As you sneak past them, the memories of Stif warning you fills your mind as you flip into the entrance running down the concrete staircase as quickly as possible.
“It’ll be the last thing you do” She threatened.
“He is a prisoner, he knows his crime.” She scoffed
“If you go to him, we will know where your loyalties lie.”
“Loki cares nothing about you, he is a man who cares simply for himself.”
You reach the bottom of the large steps, hoping you were turning down the correct corridor as you ran quickly. You notice on your way that the majority of the cells are completely empty. This worried you, but did not stop you from searching for him. You luckily reach his location without any mishaps.
“Loki!” You announce breathlessly watching as he paced around the small room with his back turned away from you.
His cell was tidy, clean as if he had not touched a single thing. He had all of his things that brought him comfort; fancy furniture, books, papers, and pens. You knew that Loki loved to read because the two of you spent the majority’s of your time together in the library. You felt at ease knowing that he at least had that. This was of course curtsy of the Queen; she asked for these items. Although he was being punished, the only thing she wanted for her dear son was that he was comfortable in his confinement no matter what he had done.
“What is it ?!” He snapped turning around to face you. He took heed in your presence and then pressed his lips into a thin line. “Ah, Lady (Y/n).” He greets you calmly, then an amused grin appears on his face. “Here to tell me the mighty King has passed on too?”
His comment took you by surprise, you assumed he would be just as grateful to see you, as you were to see him.
“Don’t be so morbid Loki!” You cut him off with offense frowning your face in confusion. “With the news of your mother passing, I would think you’d have far-more compassion for your family, for Asgard.”
“My family.” He repeats, mocking your charismatic tone placing his hand over his chest. “My Family is not here on Asgard. My family are no more than those disgusting vile creatures you fight and kill.”
“Loki I know you’re hurting, I know you have all this anger built up, but you have to know that you do have family and loved ones here on Asgard.” You say subtlety hinting at yourself. “I did not come here to be mocked.” You say in a calming voice as he walks over to you.
You place a hand on the enchanted glass as you look up to his figure continuing to speak. “I am not one for your dramatics, I just wanted to see how you were holding up.”
“Holding up?” He lets out a malice laugh. “Ha! Holding up?! I am locked in a cage like an animal!”
You slam your fist against the glass in annoyance realizing your loving reunion was falling flat. You did not come here to argue with this man, you didn’t even plan far enough to think of exactly what you wanted to say, but it was never envisioned like this.
“And who’s fault is that Loki?! Who’s fault!?” You snap matching his dramatic tone.
“My own! For trusting idiots!” He yells back and you can’t help but think what idiots he were referring to. He continues,  “Why are you even down here, Odin forbade anyone from seeing me, you can’t be THAT stupid. Or perhaps you want to cast more stones?”
“Cast stones?— I came here as a friend Loki. All this worrying I did for you, all the tears and regrets. I risked my own life and freedom by coming down here” You scoff rolling your eyes at his demeanor. “Just to be spat on by you?”
“Better I to you, then you to me.” He laughs.
“That is your problem, you always think people want to hurt you just as bad as you want to hurt them! Look at you and your brother, he mourned you, we all did, and you go and do this? Destroy and take over the only place he loves. What did you gain?!”
“Oh bullshit! That place was nothing, but a pathetic little wasteland! They needed ORDER.”
“They needed no such thing Loki, YOU needed a sense of belonging.” You say with emphasis.
“My god you’re just as delusional as my brother .” He laughs.
“Delusional?!” You yell.
“Yes.” He says calmly, pleased at how angry he was making you. He walks away and sits on his couch crossing his legs and resting his arms on top of them. “D-e-l-u-s-i-o-n-a-l, delusional.”
As he walked away you noticed a single error in his walk as if it all was an illusion. Something that only someone who knew Loki would catch if they payed close enough attention.
“Enough, no more illusions Loki. Show me your true state, I know you are not this heartless. The only person who stands here delusional is you!”
With that, what you thought was the real Loki fades away in shimmers. A much sadder scene formed before you. The cell becomes a mess, with the once neat furniture, either broken or distorted across the room. The scuff marks on the walls concluded that he had thrown the furniture with immense force. His beloved books were ripped and torn to shreds, and his once neat clothes tattered and disheveled. Your eyes meet his saddened pale figure sitting on the floor near something he recently broken. Fresh blood oozes down his foot as the glass that was lodge in him is discarded next to him on the floor.
“IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED TO SEE!? A BROKEN MAN YOU SEE !?” His unruly hair falls into his face as he screams at the top of his lungs, veins bulging from his neck.
You immediately go to the side panel that unlocks the cell, running to his aid. You kneel beside him where there is not much debris, wrapping your arms around him and pulling him into a tight hug. He barriers himself deep into your neck letting out a silent sob. You hold him close as if you never wanted to let him go.
“I am here Loki.” You whisper to him placing a kiss to the top of his head.
You have never in your seen the Prince so weak, so fragile, so upset, so venerable. This all must have taken a huge toll on him, you couldn’t imagine what he was going through.
“ I did not want this for myself, I did not want this, not for her.” He says lowly as his voice breaks.
“I know.” You rub his back softly. “But you have to know that she loved you unconditionally with all her being, Loki.”
“I-, I don’t believe that.” He sighs with a hint of hesitation in his voice. “No one could ever.”
“That should not be hard to believe because I do, I love you too, I love you unconditionally.”
“You love me?” Asked confused he pulls away from your embrace looking at you with puffy red eyes.
“Yes.” You admit.
“You surely love as a friend correct?” He questions with squinted eyes.
“More.” You place a hand on his cheek giving him a small reassuring smile. “I’ve always loved you Loki, more than a companion, way before any of this.”
He places his hand over yours, giving you a weak smile, then leans in to kiss you. You were surprised , but quickly adapted the new feeling. The kiss was sweet and slow, so slow it felt as if time had stopped. He pulls away resting his forehead against yours.
“This probably is the best news I’ve received all week.” He says with a light chuckle. "I'm so sorry."
You smile pecking his lips once more before speaking again.
“I hope you know that for me to love you unconditionally, that I know who you are deep down. I know you aren’t all bad. I know that you had your reasons for going to earth and ruining New York, just as you had reasons for all the mayhem you have created. What was it ?” You say attempting to have him open up more.
“My reasoning ?” He asked in an unsure voice. “ I do not know.” He concluded turning way to look forward as if he was thinking.
“I find that very hard to believe Loki.” You say resting your head on his shoulder, taking his hand. “But I’m here whenever you’re ready to open up.”
It was true, you never thought Loki was all bad, you knew that there had to be reasons behind his mischief and misunderstanding. A few minutes passed of the two of you just being in one another’s presents. You imagined in other circumstances, this is how Thor felt when he Jane, as if nothing else matter other than the fact that they had each other.
“It…. His name was Thanos, after I fell from the birfrost—” He finally spoke, but it was short lived.
“(Y/n)!” You hear Thor shout from the other end of the cell interrupting. He states at the two of you intensely.
“Thor it is not what is seems.” You say imagining Lady Sif would soon be on her was as well.
“You are not in trouble (Y/n), but I need to speak to my brother, alone.”
You turn your attention back to Loki and he nods patting your hand. The two of you get up and Loki weakly walks you over to the entrance of the cell that you  previously came through.
“We can talk later, you know I’ll be here.” He looks at you with a knowing grin placing another kiss on your lips, before Turing to his brother.
You nod turning away to leave the two alone to talk. You had hopes that one day you and Loki could somehow be together, and finish that conversation, but today was clearly not that day.
The maid and the god
(Loki x Fem!Reader),(Enemies to lovers),(18+)
Chapter One
(Link to chapter two: ⬇️)
Summary: After working for Odin for months as their personal maid, you are shocked to discover your job has been assigned to who else but the one who hates you the most- God of mischief himself?
Tumblr media
“Y/n darling, please come here”. Frigga calls out. You had just finished putting away the last set of sheets as you heard her voice. “Yes my queen. How can I help you” you bow. “Oh darling you don’t have to do that. It’s just us two here.” She whispered. You always found Frigga so warm and gentle. A mother hen. She wasn’t as proper as Odin was, he was strict and unkind. Ever since your mothers passing you’ve felt a real connection to her. “I have something I would like to discuss with you”. She sits on a red cushioned stool and taps beside her. “Sit” you sit beside the beautiful queen before you. Anxiety stricken you play with your fingers. “D-did I do something wrong? Oh no! Did I forget to put sheets away? Did I turn Thors clothing pink? I” -
“Hush now little one.” Friggas finger presses against your lips. “You have so much anxiety in this tiny body of yours. It can’t be any good for you my dear child. Nothing is wrong in fact everything is quite right.” She stands before you and slowly paced around you. “You see we have had a little …intermission. Loki. He is back from earth, and he plans to stay here for quite some time, moving back in shall I say?” Oh no anything but that. “And I would like to assign your job to him. Odin and I no longer need your assistance, and would much rather you make yourself useful to his quarters. He is quite clean I’ll admit but some house keeping will be good for him and…to be fair. He needs a friend”. You and loki have known each-other since you were children. Your mother was a single pregnant maid working for Odin and they let her have a home within the kingdom. Your mother was eternally grateful for having a home within the castle and worked every day as their maid and on occasion their cook. You were born and raised in this kingdom. And when your mother had her unexpected passing three years ago you were given the same fate. To live in the kingdom as long as you work for them. It wasn’t a bad deal either. You were treated quite well except for the few women who would snicker as you walked past. Slurs and unkind comments about your place in the kingdom. But that would never get to you. You were fed, clothed, respected by most, you had a home. Growing up with loki was a different story. As kids he would always cast a spell on you. He would disappear and reappear, disguise himself as your mother then scare you when he had reappeared. He also had never once treated you kindly. And you knew why. You were human. Your mother was a human and had made love to a god herself, nobody knows who he was except Odin and Frigga. Your mother had quite the life, but she was never expecting to be betrayed and carry a child alone. Now here you were. Powerless, useless, a pathetic little human. Loki always laughed and made comments about your style, or the way you had no power like he did. You were scum in his eyes. And he always bullied you. Although, you always had a giggle to yourself when Frigga or Odin punished him for how he treated you. At least they cared for you. You would think when Loki became an adolescent he would have matured more. But instead his bark was just as bad as his bite. His words hurt more and his anger and violence was worse. He would never lay a hand on you but it never stopped him from pulling stunts to scare you. You don’t know what happened but something happened with a group called the avengers and you remember the day he came home all bloody and injured. It frightened you. You knew him so well yet, you feared him. So why on earth Did Frigga push you all these years to be his friend? Especially now. He wouldn’t need your company, he never did. “Uh…Y-yeah you know what that’s okay. I can do that. Not a problem!” You rush. Frigga gently taps your shoulder. “My child, you underestimate him. He returned at sunrise today so if you’d like to attend to his room now, I’m sure the two of you will get along just fine”. She smiles confidently. You watch as she turns on her heel and walks away. You find yourself stumbling to your room in a hurry panic filling your body. Why of all people did it have to be loki? He was a royal asshole. Being a maid in Asgard wasn’t like most maid jobs. You were a servant but the term came off too harshly to everyone. So a “maid” was your title. You had to cook with the rest of the cooks, you had to clean anything and everything to the person who you were assigned to. And any extra duties needed you had to accept. Thankfully Odin and Frigga were nice with you. You cooked three times a month, mostly handled their clothing and personal items, and other small jobs. Being a human you got more tired and functioned different to the rest. And thankfully they let you have less duties than the rest. You didn’t want this. You couldn’t possibly do it. “What am I going to do now?” You cry.
You weren’t ready for the insults, the fighting, the constant turmoil that would arise. Spending day and night with someone who absolutely hates you would ruin your mental health. You could handle some nasty words, but not lokis. He’d always remind you that you were nothing special, just a servant, with no purpose, and he will always be something. He was a god for heavens sake and you were nothing. You would never allow it to show. You would snark back at him and leave when you could. But how can you leave now when you’ll be within reach all day and night? You notice you had been crying and you wipe the few tears that trickled down your cheek. “You can do this. Maybe it isn’t as bad as you think maybe he’s grown up a little”. You say. You had to prepare before seeing him. You wanted to feel like you were in a coat of armour before even stepping inside his chambers. You take a hot shower and change into a fresh asgardian maid uniform. You brushed your hair and let it hang over your shoulders, and covered your blemishes with light makeup. This was your armour and he would not see the broken girl he would create. You suck in a deep breath and make your way to lokis chambers. It had been a long time since you seen him or his room. You wonder if anything had changed. You weren’t sure what to expect, fear trembling deep within. Would he play nice? Was he hiding in the shadows ready to attack you? Or would he start throwing heartbreaking comments about your dead mother the moment you walked in? No Y/N you can do this. Don’t let him stop you. You thought to yourself. What we’re you going to do? Ignore him. Pretend he didn’t exist, get your duties done and pray whatever stupid and pathetic tasks he asks of you, it would be over quickly. Oh mother, I wish you were here. This is so hard without you here. Down the many halls and corridors you find yourself at the large familiar golden doors. Here goes nothing. You take another deep breath preparing for anything. Ready to see the angry look on his face, or the disgusted face he makes every time. Perhaps his evil glare would help you convince Frigga that this isn’t the job for you. Maybe she could be sympathetic. You knock on the door and to your surprise it is already ajar. The large Golden door creeks open and you step inside. Maybe he wasn’t home like his mother had thought? You feel a small sense of relief at the idea. Your eyes dart around the room. Golden Arches we’re the body of the building, holding everything together and glistening in the sunlight.
You walked through on the marble floors and noticed everything itself was already perfectly clean. Was his bedroom just as clean? You were tempted to turn back around, everything seemed to be in order and there was really no need to pry. But something aches inside you. You had to investigate. You couldn’t understand why, but something just kept eating at you. You tiptoe through the room and stop at the end of lokis bed. You gently tap the mattress with your finger trip curious to how his bed feels. You wondered what sleeping in a gods bed would be like, you imagined it was the not comfortable thing in the plane if your existence. His bed was perfectly made, with satin green sheets and the fresh scent of cinnamon and musk. His pillows were fluffed, his sheets were neat, his curtains were open to flood the warm light in. It’s as if someone had already done your job. Nothing had changed since the last time you had seen his room, except a couple small details. You couldn’t understand why but a small ping of disappointment surrounded you. What we’re you expecting to find? We’re you hoping to find something to hold on him? You didn’t know What had loki been doing all these years? What we’re you to expect when you seen him? Older? Lost an arm? No eye? Could he look almost like Odin now? From the things you heard from whisperers around he sounded more evil than he had ever been. Could he have red eyes? Would he try to kill you the second he sees you? Would he be covered in scars? No that’s too far. Why we’re you thinking like this? You shake your head and look around the room. No sign of loki. Now was the perfect time to explore. He was gone and his room was all yours now. You tiptoe around to a set of golden drawers and trace your fingers over the handles. What could possibly be inside here? Your heart began racing, we’re you really going to snoop on his things? But what things would someone like himself keep in such drawers? It was too big for just some clothes. Right?
Suddenly a warm breath is against your neck and you feel a solid body behind you. You freeze complete knowing exactly who it was. “Well well what do we have here?” You turn around and gasp. “Loki! I -shit uhh… I was just making sure everything was clean…your mother she-“
“Yes yes I am aware she informed me on everything…not that I think you’ll be much useful if you are going to waste your time snooping around”. He lifts his chin and eyes you painfully. You were caught red handed. “N-no it’s not what it looks like I swear. I was just-“
He stalks towards you and you feel your back hit the drawers behind you. His face close to yours, arm against the wall calling you in. Why must he be so intimidating? Yet, He didn’t look anything like you imagined. He was …loki. Tall, dark hair, youthful, hardly any scars from battle. his eyes sparkling blue. He looked handsome? “Never the matter pet. The reality is-“ he chuckles deeply and his eyes darken. “You work for me now and you will do exactly as I say”.
Schoolyard: 12
You take a few minutes to catch up with your parents. Your dad is dressed in his military finest and your mom in a pretty lilac dress. You’re not sure which one to hug first so you settle for hugging both at the same time. Thor doesn’t say much, it’s almost like he’s not there, at least not until your dad turns on him and frowns at him.
“You know Your Majesty, I always wanted to walk my daughter down the aisle at her wedding but it turns out I missed that. Also, I don’t recall giving you permission.”
“Dad,” you groan, you’re fairly certain that he’s kidding but you’re not sure. “First of all, we’re getting the marriage annulled once things settle down. Secondly, I do not need your permission to marry. I don’t care if you are joking, Thor is more than worthy of being my husband.” Your dad narrows his eyes and your mom whacks him in the stomach with the back of her hand. Thor chuckles and it’s your turn to glare up at him.
“I see you come by that little move naturally.” He teases and you go to give him a little hit in the stomach he catches your hand and presses a kiss to the palm. “I need to go but you can stay here and talk for a while if you like.”
“We’ll come with you.” You tell him and he takes your hand, your mom and dad follow you through the palace as you walk and talk with them. Your mom is disappointed to hear about Jane but is thrilled to see Sif again and she and Bryn seem to click well. Your father greets Odin with a handshake and the two begin to chat like they’re old friends. Your mom and Frigga are the same, you catch the two of them watching you and Thor more than once with these pleased little smiles on their faces.
“Our mothers have no chill.” Thor tells you during one of the first dances of the night causing you to laugh. His hand is warm and firm against your back as he leads you around the dance floor.
“Absolutely none. Neither does Loki.”
“What did they say?”
“All nice things.” You don’t know why you don’t want to tell him what Loki said. It just seems too awkward.
“Hmm,” he hums and you glance up at him and he presses a quick kiss to your lips. “You think you’re so sneaky.” You tell him and he grins down at you,
“I am so sneaky.” He says, “you had no idea your parents were coming.”
“Okay, I’ll give you that one.” You relent with a laugh when suddenly someone taps on your shoulder.
“May I cut in?” Your dad asks and Thor gives him a smile and presses a kiss to your hand before stepping away. Your dad takes your hand and twirls you around before pulling you in.
“Hey Dad.”
“So, I feel like there’s a story here.” You glance over your shoulder to see who’s around you. “But I can wait for a more private time.” He continues. “You seem happy.”
“I am happy Dad.”
“Good, he treats you well?”
“Like a Princess, in every sense of the word and not because he has to.”
“Good.”
“I love him Dad.” Your Dad looks momentarily surprised but he schools his expression. “Like, the thing I love the least about him is that he’s a King.”
“That makes me very happy to hear.”
“Good, so please be nice.”
“I am being nice.”
“That moment in the room was not very nice Dad. He’s a good man and he loves me.”
“Don’t you think you’re moving a bit fast?”
“Maybe, but you and mom only dated for a few months before you got married and you’re happy.”
“It was different, I was in the military. My job would’ve ripped us apart.”
“So would his.” You point out and he gives a little nod.
“As long as you’re happy Peanut.” You give his hand a squeeze as the song ends.
“I am Dad. More than I’ve ever been.” Odin comes next, you’re not exactly surprised but it is a bit strange. You’ve never been this close to him for so long, but he’s kind and thanks you for staying by Thor through all of this. His praise warms your heart because he’s always been kind of an aloof man.
“Now, it looks as if my son would like his wife back.” Odin escorts you over to where Frigga and Thor are waiting for you.
“My Son.” Odin says handing you off the Thor.
“Father.” Thor says with a nod before taking your hand. Instead of leading you back onto the dance floor Thor leads you away from the party.
“Thor?”
“I just need a moment of peace with you.” He mutters and when you look at him you see the tension in his shoulders. You follow wordlessly until he leads you into a little room and closes the door.
“What’s wrong?”
“I think it’s all just hitting me right now. I’m King. I’m the ruler of a country. It’s, its a lot more than I thought it would be.”
“You’re not in this alone Thor.” You tell him cupping his face in your hands and smoothing your thumb over his cheekbone. “You have the support of so many people, your parents, Loki, me, Sif, Bryn. All of us are here, we’ll help in anyway that we can.”
“Thank you Elskede.” He mutters before kissing you softly, you’ll never get over the butterflies that flit through your stomach every time he kisses you. “I have something for you.” He whispers and when you look up at him in confusion he smiles down at you then pulls a black velvet box from inside his pocket. “I’m sorry that I didn’t have them for you before everything. They weren’t done.” He passes you the box and you open it slowly, when you see what’s inside you gasp.
“Thor. They’re beautiful.” The thin crescent moon full of diamonds winks back at you, the star is long, connected to either side of the opening of the moon. The top and bottom of the star are long but the other six points are much smaller, it too is covered in small diamonds. The earrings are short dangling ones, a diamond stud with two chains hanging from each, on one chain is a star and the other has a moon.
“Du er min måne og stjerner min elskede.” He whispers and your eyes well with tears, he makes you feel so precious.
“Thor,” you breathe and he wipes the tear that slips down your cheek with one of his thumbs. You rise up on your toes and he meets you halfway, kissing you softly.
“Can I put the necklace on?”
“Yes please.” You turn away from him and he lifts the necklace over your head and the cool metal bumps your skin. He clasps it and you turn and pass him the box so you can take out the earrings so that can put them in. “They’re so beautiful Thor.”
“I’m glad you like them, Loki helped a bit.”
“They helped you pick them out?”
“No, they helped me design them.” You gape up at him,
“You, you designed this?” He nods,
“For you my Love.” You can’t help it, you burst into tears. “What’s wrong?” Thor asks sounding alarmed.
“Nothing. I just love you so much.” You sob and he chuckles lowly.
“Oh Elskede.” Thor pulls you gently toward him, so you’re crying into his chest. “I love you too.” He let’s you cry for a few minutes and when you pull away he helps wipe the tears from your face.
“Oh no, my makeup.” You groan softly but Thor just smiles,
“You look perfect.” He assures you but you still hold out a hand for his phone.
“Can I use your phone? I don’t have mine.” He fishes it from his pocket without a thought and you use the camera to check your face, but he’s right. Nothing has smudged or ran and your hair is still perfect. “Thank you.” You tell him closing the camera and handing it back to him. He opens the camera again and pulls you in close before aiming it at the two of you. You grin at the camera for the first photo, his smile as bright, then you turn toward him and kiss his cheek for the next photo. He takes another one where he kisses you his hand curled around your head and even though you’re not usually the kind of woman who likes a photo like that this one warms your soul.
“We should probably get back.”
“We should,” he agrees, “have one more question for you, well two.”
“Okay?”
“Are you okay with going public? I mean, more than we have.”
“I would be okay with that.” You tell him smiling up at him.
“Wonderful, I also want to start to buck some traditions. It isn’t traditional for the Royal family to show any sort of PDA on social media or in public. I want to change that. I want to hold your hand in public, and kiss you whenever I want. Father won’t like it but I don’t care.”
“Okay.”
“I love you.” He whispers before kissing you again then you take his hand and lead him out of the room. You walk back to the ballroom and find the party is still in full swing.
“Fireworks in twenty Your Majesties.” Heimdall says from behind you. Thor nods,
“Thank you Heimdall. One more dance Elskede?” He asks and you give him a smile and give him a nod. He leads you back onto the dance floor and you spend one last song dancing with him. He drops a kiss onto your lips as the song comes to a close, and before you’re even off the floor Loki has joined you.
“You’re going to give Father a heart attack if you continue with the PDA.” They tell you and Thor rolls his eyes.
“It’s an old rule, a silly one. I love Min Elskede, why should I hide that?”
Part 2: Thor Novelization Boogaloo: Loki and the Genocide of Jotunheim
So, if you haven’t read it already, you might want to go back to Part 1 here.
I spent a bunch of time highlighting this novelization for research purposes (I plan to write some stories about our tricksy boy at some point) and while I know it’s Thor’s story (which has some interesting bits to be sure, especially depending on who writes him), there’s some really intriguing Loki content here, and it speaks volumes just how much is actually cut out of the book versus the movie.
I’m actually going to start off this entry with some of the information provided at the end of the book (”A Guide to Asgard & More”)
First, there’s Odin, whose description is literally: “is king of Asgard and the mightiest of the Asgardians.”
Like, I don’t know about you, but that comes across as rather sus, my friends. Nothing about his family, who he cares about, his oft-spouted “peace”.  Nope. Power.  That’s it.
There’s Queen Frigga: “Mother to both Thor and Loki. Her greatest attributes are beauty, Asgardian strength, and great patience.”
I mean, other than (gag) offering her appearance as being one of her main characteristics, sure, ok, she’s strong and very patient (anyone would be to put up with the rest of the shenanigans that Odin and her kids are constantly up to). She’s also described as a mother- an involved parent.  Where Odin is basically just like “IM KING BEYOTCHES” The queen seems to have at least some priorities that don’t focus on holding onto power.
Then we get to Thor, who is “Asgard’s greatest warrior, son to Queen Frigga and King Odin Allfather, and brother to the trickster known as Loki.  He is Prince of Asgard and is next in line for the throne.  Thor’s closest friends and most trusted allies are the Warriors Three, Lady Sif, and Loki.”
Here we learn more (Frigga gets top billing, which is refreshing), especially how Thor and Loki relate to one another.  It’s pretty telling that Loki, while being called a trickster is also considered a “closest friend and most trusted ally.”
Then we get to Loki’s entry: Loki, the Master of Magic, knows deep down that the throne of Asgard will never belong to him. Often the voice of reason to his brother Thor, Loki is the one who summons Odin to save them, the Warriors Three, and Lady Sif from the grave threats on Jotunheim, though Loki’s motives might not always be completely honorable.
Just to break this down a little.  Loki’s billed as “Master of Magic,” which means that his magic is strong and a defining trait.
I do find it interesting that it specifically skirts around his actual parentage/throne and just specifically says that Asgard’s throne won’t be his.  Also, the way it sounds in Thor’s description is that Thor, by the virtue of being eldest, is the one getting the throne, but there’s some interesting phrasing later on in the book that makes it pretty obvious that’s not the case.
The fact that Loki (billed as a trickster in Thor’s entry) is also considered the voice of reason, it is very interesting they also note that he “might not always be completely honorable.”
To extrapolate from that phrasing, it means that he is likely always honorable to some extent, it’s just that his motives are sometimes not aligned with that of Thor/Odin.  Which, considering that he is the voice of reason....might not be a bad thing?  Plus, it is pretty obvious that the motives of most of the Asgardians are that of glory in battle, delighting in violence, and using heavy-handed displays of machismo to gain and hold onto power.  Loki grows up under this kind of socialization, so it goes to show that he might pick up on some of those cultural lessons, but figure out different ways to use them since his power seems to be more scholarly/magical than sheer brawniness.
Over and over again we see that many of Loki’s end goals are actually very similar to that of Odin and Thor.  But he is regularly derided and attacked for going about it in a way they don’t approve of (ie: making plans, using magic, gathering allies, and influencing people to get what he wants instead of calling some massive one on one duel to the death in a coliseum with spears).
Another section details information on the Casket of Ancient Winters:  “While there are many dangerous items inside the vault, the Casket of Ancient Winters is the most feared.  Taken from the realm of Jotunheim by Odin to prevent the Frost Giants from taking over the Nine Realms, it has the power to cause instant and never-ending winter.
Ok, that sounds pretty horrifying, right? It’s a weapon! It could hurt people! Odin had to take it away for the good of peace, right? RIGHT?!
NOPE! IT WAS THE APOCALYPTIC DESTRUCTION OF THEIR ENTIRE WORLD!
Tumblr media
Here’s what the book has to say about Jotunheim: “The Realm of Jotunheim was once full of stunning cities built entirely of ice.  After Odin took the Casket of Ancient Winters, the once beautiful buildings began to crumble and melt.  Now most of the land has floated away in large chunks.  The Frost Giants wander the desolate and lonely landscape, angry and thirsting for revenge against Asgard- and their king, Odin Allfather.
Ok, so imagine you live in a world with your own cities, culture, and society, and some asshole comes to your world and basically takes away all of your technology murders the majority of your people, and destroys your world so badly that your entire people are now homeless in a wasteland with no opportunity to rebuild?  How many children died of starvation on Jotunheim? Did Odin steal and then sell or “adopt” out other Frost Giant babies to Asgardian families or sell them to other worlds as slaves?
From Ragnarok, you can see that there’s some pretty damning evidence that Odin built Asgard using slavery, so it’s quite possible that they had no trouble using Jotuns in a similar manner:
Tumblr media
Are we actually supposed to believe that they are happy about that? There’s a truce, sure, but did Asgard go to help the other ice giants that were affected by the complete destruction of their world? Nope.  They were literally subjected to genocide and the last stragglers were left to die slowly.  If the situation had been reversed, I imagine that Asgard would consider themselves justified in trying to retaliate against Jotunheim.  But since they’re big, blue, “monstrous” etc....well, that makes it ok according to Odin.
Tumblr media
I find it really interesting that the book doesn’t include a scene where Loki turns blue and finds out about his parentage, so that’s really interesting as well. This is turning into a bit of a novel, so I’ll save that bit for Part 3.
Thanks to everyone who liked and reblogged and chatted about Part 1. I hope you like my thoughts, and as always, I love to hear what you think about how the text informs the films.
