”A Monster’s Threads” QnA please!!! (I know I’m late lol sorryyy)

Were there any films, songs, or other fics that particularly inspired you when developing the story?

If you added more chapters, where would they go and what would they cover?

Did you plan out the whole story or did you come up with it as you went?

Who was the easiest character to write? Who was the hardest?

Did you ever get emotional or cry when writing certain scenes?

Did you pull any punches with the heavier content? Where? When?

Hhhhh yesss thank you! AMT is my first fic, though I was not nearly in the know as I am now. So let's see...

In terms of inspirations, it's weird. I remember reading a pretty accurate novelization of the Nibelheim Incident and feeling inspired to write my own version. There've also been plenty of Seph backstory fics out there as well and while I initially took inspiration from a few, I very quickly branched out from there. Novel inspirations included Gregory Maguire's Wicked, though only in design and not in practice or flow. I also listened to a LOT of Glass Animals for the Sephgen chapters.

My biggest regret is not having more Gast-Seph chapters. I'm still beating myself up over it. I maybe would have liked to have fleshed out a few more chapters with Seph in Wutai, and possibly integrating his scenes from Before Crisis as well, especially his encounter with Elfe. Her asking him why he fights I feel is an often overlooked but pivotal character moment for him. I also probably would have rewritten a lot of the Aerith chapters as well, with more of a focus on Ifalna.

AMT was originally going to be "snippets", hence the shortage of Gast chapters. It was going to jump through huge chunks of time with a focus on important canon moments. By chapter 7ish I started to get more ambitious.

Easiest character to write is Hojo. Or Jenova. Not that Jenova is an actual "character", but writing more animalistic horror characters is a lot easier than characters who go through an arc. Hojo is easy because he's a dick, and already knows the whole score. He knows exactly what he wants and what he expects. Less guessing work.

In terms of emotion, there were a few instances. Seph, Gen, and Angeal sharing pasta together. Angeal's farewell. And especially the ending. I'd been waiting for the ending for a long, long time.

There was lots of stuff that was eventually cut or shortened. Sephiroth was originally going to wear a shock collar most of his childhood. Angeal's body was going to take a bad tumble off the gurney and/or coffin while Seph and Zack had an argument over it. Hojo was going to be a lot creepier with some...unsettling implications. It was all too much. So I didn't go there.

Favorite scene was the penultimate confrontation between Sephiroth and Zack in Nibelheim. I just wanted to write Seph going apeshit insane. I was practically losing my mind during the buildup. It was the easiest chapter to write because I was blazing through on pure malicious glee.

I put some Sephzack in there, or at least hints of it. Probably wouldn't have leaned into that as much since I'm more staunchly into Sephgen. I know a lot more about certain points of lore now than I did at the time of writing it, though I did a lot of research. There's some things that are kind of screwy timeline-wise. I think I now view certain characters with a bit more sympathy now. Genesis, for example, while I liked him at the time of writing it, occasionally comes off as a genuine asshole. I might have softened him up a bit, though I did try to be really fair to him in the fic. At least, I hope I did.

HHHH illustrations. The waterfall scene was illustrated thanks to a lovely commission by @manalovebot. And that was one of the big ones for me. So if I really had to think about it...perhaps the end of part 2 with Seph on the roof. Or Lucrecia seeing baby Seph at the beginning of part 3. Or maybe even Sephiroth fighting Zack in Nibelheim. I'm really not kidding when I say that if I had any artistic abilities, I'd have every chapter illustrated.

time to rank the new ateez album!! as always, this ranking is EXCLUSIVELY based on my very first listen (with the exception of the title). no relistening until after i finish ranking. this one was a doozy aka the hardest album to ever rank.

1. dune - oh my god the build. at first i was like hmmm but the build to the chorus i literally am ascending this plane. sorry to my job i wont make it in today i have to listen to this song on repeat. the bridge at 2:15 i just melted into the ground i am but a simple man. AND THE BRIDGE JUST KEEPS GOING. quite possibly my favorite ayghshhshdjfk

2. wake up - this song is classic ateez sound ‼️AND I LOVE THAT‼️ i was like surely this wont make my ranking any harder—YOU CAN HEAR MY VOICE!! kinda like cyberpunk pt 2 which was the best song off the movement. i cant wait to play a crazy shooter to this. jongho once again eating up the whole industry with his power.

3. bouncy - this song has been stuck in my head since i saw the mv this morning. RAPPER SEONGHWA!!! begging the dj to play this next time i go out no shame. also sans sit back and relax everybody that is my BIAS and that killed me three times i love it. this song is actually such a fun fun title i love it ateez titles are never disappointing

4. django - this album is so hard to rank there is not a single skip here; WOAH WOAH WOAH love that part it fucks!! oh my god the jongho and the ‘you better run’ i am kicking and screaming this is so good. this is only slightly above the world because of that and the outro they are basically the same rank

4. this world - oh my god the cunt; i immediately gasped when this song started. mingi and joongs rap in it eats so fucking hard. oh my god the SPOOKY SYNTH????? love this. want it x1000

4. outlaw - another classic ateez sound. OH MY GOD THE ANTI DROP. i thought this would be easy to rank it is not. django, the world, and this song are all equally as good imo (i just only listen to each song only once to rank them and thats why my rankings change an insane amt a week later) FUCK THE END OF THIS SONG JUST FUCKED UP ALL OF MY RANKINGS FUCK!!! ok theyre all sharing a rank. is this an accurate way to rank things. no. but i am a simple man.

album highlights: every rap verse eats. jongho eating up every vocal part. EVERYONE in the bouncy mv. im sure the lore in it is also insane im just behind. ateez made an album with no skips. this. this may quite possibly be my favorite boy group album this year so far. that is actually insane.

If i was god. I would make it so. I had all the time in the world. And so i could talk for like 800 hours without my mouth hurting or getting dry or my mind losing focus or smth else that stops u from speaking for 800 hours straight. I would watch each campaign in its entirety twice with these people, and then all the extra content on the patreon like the just rolleds and the what ifs and whatnot. And during the second watch of each campaign. I would pause it like every 10 seconds. To overnaalyse everythjng and go insane about it all. Iw ould also make lists of everything. Id redo my gillion title list to actually include ever title (bc i forgot warrior of rock and roll, and another i think 2 do with wheat?) And also to not juwt include the episodes they were first said, but to include timestamps, amd every episode theyre said in and the timestamps for those. I will also timestanp every moment jay ferin has a moment where im like. So she. Is a trans allegory. And everyone will be so shocked because im definitely the only person to think that ever and im unique and awesome. And i will timestamp every moment like that. And i will count every single roll but especially the nat20s and nat1s and i will ckmvine every roll ever made and categorize them all into a graph showing the number rolled naturally, the final number rolled w any modifiers, any numbers rolled that arent used bc of disadvantage or advantage, what skill the roll is for, who made the roll, what the roll would do, if the roll succeeded or failed EVERYTHING. And i would compile it all. And see who rolls best. Not just of the players, but i would do them as a whole. But also individual characters. Like grizzly might roll better than bizly 4 example, but maybe lizzie on average rolls worse than chip but earl on average rolls better. Or smth. On the natural rolls id say id mainly focus on bc of the pure luck of them but also. All modifiers included. And maybe id make a line graph to show how chips persuasion rolls have a massive increase from the moment he drew that card. And also i might show if gillions -2 on dex actually fucks him over as much as they say or if its an exaggeration. And id also. Document every time anyone goes down. To see the sheer fucking amt of times gillion fucking dies for his crew. And also. Every time anyone makes an attack n lands a hit n whatever. To see just how much of a carry jay is in battle bc she actually does shit. And id also count. Number of jokes and silly gags. In character and out. And. Amt of damage taken. For who wins human(orfish)meat shield award of the year. Or ig. Like. 2 yesrs ?? How longs riptide been going for. I got distracted. ahh!! i’m not sure if you watch going seventeen, but when they went to new york for kcon they had a day off and split up and went to all these really cool places! i went to new york the day after oty bc we were in the area already and i really wanted to try the pizza place gyu, hoshi, jun, dino went to (gyu also went back to the same pizza spot when they came back for oty and i thought it was super cute how he remembered 🥺🥺🥺. i also wanted to go to pike place and try the crab sandwich seokmin tried as well! but sadly everywhere was really spread out ahaha i’m not used to the city life i guess (and had no idea how to get around 😣). but i did go to times square though and i was just like.... wow dino rly danced here in the snap shoot mv... i think this means our souls are connected or something. i really wanna watch ofd it soon!!  i’ve been meaning to watch all their jpn variety show appearances aaa the way they put out so much content,,,

so originally me and my other two roommates were supposed to be assigned with a random for our lease, but then our other friend joined last minute and it’s so nice bc we’re all kpop listeners/anime watchers and like... we can all enjoy our interests in peace!!!! lol i’ve heard that rooming with your friends can either be the best or worst thing, but we made the gc today and we all agreed on a lot of things? i personally am not picky with a lot of things and just go with the flow too, so i think we’ll all be fine for the most part.
