Andal Brask x Reader - Revelations

Hey, I’m gonna be back in town in a bit.  Meet at the South Gate?  

That message from Andal sent butterflies throughout your stomach and a wide smile to your lips.  At the time, you were returning from your own patrol rounds, so you just re-routed your path for the South Gate.  You sat on your sparrow at the gate, arms leaning on the handles, waiting to see his team come over the ridge.

Cayde was the first to ride up on his sparrow to alert the gatewatch.  He greeted you and you welcomed him home; he asked how your scouts were going and you replied honestly; he flirted with you and you shot it right back at him, just as Andal and Shiro came within earshot with a small flock of refugees.

“Welcome back,” you greeted Andal with a smile as he handed off some supplies to a refugee.  “Anything eventful happen while you were gone?”

He looked at you from over his shoulder with a wide smile.  Traveler, his smile made your heart skip a beat or two.  “Nothing too remarkable.  Just another day in the office, bringing people safely to the Last City.”

A smile crept to your lips, and you sat silently on your sparrow while the trio helped people get settled.  “So, uh,” you started quietly as Cayde and Shiro said their farewells, “why’d you ask me to meet you here?”

“Wanted to know if you wanted to catch something to eat,” he stated simply.  “We’ve been in and out of the City for months, though we’re never here at the same time.  Thought we could catch up for a change.”

You nodded, but dared not speak should you trip over your words.  He wanted to get dinner?  With you?  Surely he didn’t feel the same way you did, surely he only meant it as friends catching up and sharing stories.  This wasn’t a date.

You had to keep reminding yourself that the entire evening.  When Andal walked with you into the restaurant.  When the two of you sat impossibly close to each other at the counter.  When you started to share stories and laugh.  And especially when that first drink got into your system.

“Are you okay?”

“Huh?”  Your back straightened and you became aware of your surroundings again.  You’d been staring into your bowl, but you hadn’t even taken a bite of it.  Your mind was far away, thoughts of the Hunter sitting next to you filtered through your consciousness.  You mentally shook yourself, and once again, reminded yourself that this was not a date.  You managed to smile, albeit an embarrassed one.  “Oh, yeah, I’m fine.”

He stared at you quizzically as he leaned in close, studying your expression.  Your pulse skyrocketed and your cheeks flushed as he got closer, but you didn’t dare to move.  “You sure?”  He asked.  “You’ve been a little off all night.”

Your voice dropped to a quiet whisper.  “Tired, I guess.”  Mentally, you cursed at yourself for being so obvious.

“No no no,” he chuckled.  “Something’s definitely going on, what is it.”

You reached out and laughed as you pushed away.  “It’s nothing, I swear, I’m just a little caught up in my head is all.  Got someo—something on my mind.”

“‘Someone’?”  Andal’s grin grew wider.  “You’ve got ‘someone’ on your mind?”

“I didn’t say someone, I said something.”

“You said someone!”  He started laughing.  “I knew it!  You, my friend, have a crush on someone, don’t you?”

“No!” Your voice betrayed you and cracked when you tried to defend yourself against his accusation.  Embarrassed, you buried your face in your hands while Andal laughed at you.  

“Ha! I knew it!” Andal leaned back in his chair and laughed.  “Who is it? You can tell me.”  

“Hell no,” you muttered into your palms.  “No way.”

“I swear I’ll keep it a secret.”

“Andal—”

“Come on!”  He was practically begging now.  “Is it Cayde?”

“Andal, please—”

“I won’t tell anyone, you can trust me!”

You stood abruptly from your chair and stormed out.  Your face was hot from embarrassment, but also from the anxiety that gripped your stomach that took away your appetite.  You should have known that he wouldn’t have taken you seriously, Andal was Andal: he was so carefree, oblivious, maybe even a bit of an idiot.  

A handsome, carefree, oblivious idiot.

“Hey, hold up.”

Andal’s voice echoed from behind you and you kept walking.  Traveler damn him for putting you in this position.  And Traveler damn yourself for being so damn obvious about it.

“Come on—” Andal’s fingers gently, if not tenderly, wrapped around your bicep and stopped you dead in your tracks “—just listen to me for a second.”

You turned slowly to face him as you folded your arms over your chest.  He looked… ashamed, almost.  Maybe even a little embarrassed.  Damn your heart for making you fall even more head over heels for him right now.  The concern that was etched into his expression really did start to melt away your embarrassment.  Traveler, you wanted to tell him.

“I’m sorry,” he said quietly.  “I shouldn’t have done that.  You don’t have to tell me, but I won’t tell any—”

You shook your head.  Damn the consequences.  You reached out and grasped onto his shoulders, you pulled him down to meet your height, closed your eyes, and kissed him.  He was stiff for a moment, probably from shock, but his hands slowly settled on your waist.  He was wordless when you pulled away.  His eyes were wide with the realization that was still hitting him.

“You’re such an idiot, Andal Brask,” you muttered.

His hand slowly lifted to cup your cheek.  His palm was hot against your skin, or maybe that was still just your cheeks being flushed.  Regardless, you closed your eyes and leaned into his touch.  “Yeah,” he whispered.  “I am.”

His lips covered yours and you shuttered.  There was no shock this time, only the warmth from his lips that you’d daydreamed about.  He chuckled softly as he pulled back and leaned his forehead against yours.

“Don’t tell Cayde.”

“Don’t tell Cayde what, hm?” You teased.  “That you’re an idiot?  Or that you suggested that I had a thing for him?”

“Both,” Andal laughed.  “The ego would go straight to his head.”

You laughed along with him until the laughter died and you two smiled at each other.  “We’ll keep it our secret then.”

“Good.”  Andal pressed a tender kiss against your forehead.  “Listen… I don’t want you to think that I’m doing this just to make you happy.  I’ve had a thing for you too, and it’s been the death of me.  I just never believed you could possibly be interested in me.”

“Andal…” You placed a hand on his cheek and moved him until he met your gaze.  “You swear?”

“On my Ghost.”

Writing request! Carl and Sawyer (some version of you, I’m not sure where Carl usually fits in) have stumbled into the same dungeons and dragons forum and become closer through battling together (not 100% sure of Carl’s personality, be him not the type for this or totally the type). This can be a silly throw away or warmup up one since it is me.

Okay, so Cherry sent me this like forever ago. I wrote it, they read it because they live with me, but I forgot to actually post it! The name change to Kane is going smoothly, and I’m ready to never think about that asshole as Karl again lmaooooo

So, yeah, Kane and I play some DnD and he’s not subtle about anything ever at all. 

I’ll have to wait until after I post this to change the colors of the different people in the text chats because lord knows I look at those strings of chat-text and have a time sifting through it. Homestuck has spoiled me.

I don’t think Kane knows I know.

If the smattering of ‘kid’ in our correspondences hadn’t tipped me off, it would definitely have been the way he made his character. I doubt anyone else would get the joke or see what he’s doing, but seriously? His character isn’t anything like him, of course.

If he were to be himself, he’d be a tiefling fighter. Either scout (ha) or cavalier archetype. He’d be a faction agent. Making a call between the chaotic alignments might be a shaky one sometimes. His attributes terribly skewed toward charisma and dexterity.

But he’s chosen a true neutral urchin. A mastermind rogue. An eladrin. The attributes are fairly balanced, save for dexterity always hovering above the others and strength a little lacking. Nothing like Kane. Not at all.

No, that’s the point.

He made a character that is exactly what I end up presenting myself as in the damn Cube. How I always play in console RPGs. Behavior just not erratic enough to be chaotic. Snarky and angry, never overtly because of the need to cover every goddamn emotion up. Inconsistent.

I’m not sure when I realized it was him. I thought it might be a member of the Collective when I first got the invitation from an unknown player. With Haz, j355, Hal, and Jax as mods of the server and tag-teaming as DMs, I slowly caught on to Kane’s game.

He’s making fun of me. He must have been playing with this character for some time, with their high level, and I wonder how long he’s been planning this.

It took me a little bit to even realize most of the similarities between myself and the character. My own character, a homebrew ice genesai, a brawler, bonded fairly quickly with them because they’re both urchins and saved each others’ asses when their time in the city overlapped.

He uses my lines, though. The whole ‘I’ll be fine’ shtick and his character has mentioned being a poet several times. After that, it took a few more days of play to start realizing it was him. That it was Kane playing such a long game.

The first time it occured to me, it was a bad call on what the endolin would do. We were looking for the deed to a seemingly abandoned manor. We hadn’t run into anything but low-level scavenging animals. In short, any good player would be a little on-edge and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Halexander (MOD): Alright. The second you both clear the door, it slams shut behind you.Match (SeeSaw): Crap.Videre (ANON): whats in the room?Halexander (MOD): It’s a pretty nondescript room. Pretty small, almost looks like a study with three desks lining one wall and a bookshelf on another. There’s a couch shoved into a corner, looks like it was slept in recently.Match (SeeSaw): Can we roll investigation real quick?Halexander (MOD): Go for it, dude.Match (SeeSaw): 5Halexander (MOD): You notice that, unlike the rest of the place, there’s no dust. The whole room is swept clean of it. That’s it. The epitome of observation.Match (SeeSaw): Okay. Videre?Videre (ANON): nah im goodHalexander (MOD): You sure? Just gonna barge in there?Videre (ANON): the doors locked right what else can we do?Match (SeeSaw): Whatever. I was so used to the DMs at least pretending to need time to formulate responses that Hal’s immediate block of text took me by surprise.

Halexander (MOD): The two of you cross the room in different directions, as if by silent agreement. Match is slower, being more hesitant, so Videre gets to the desks first. Before you can do more than peer at the desk, however, there is a cry behind you. The bedding on the couch lashed out and has taken Match captive. Match, a blanket has one wrist and a facemask has bound itself over your eyes due to your proximity when the animation first occurred. Roll Initiative.Match (SeeSaw): Whaaaaat. Not cool. Okay, 16.Halexander (MOD): Enchanted Bedding got 12.Halexander (MOD): Videre?Videre (ANON): am i far enough away that i can stay out of order and keep looking through the drawers?

They searched every single drawer before helping me, by which time I was almost dead and being smothered by a pillow. They found the deed and I chewed them out on the way back to town. They said they knew I would be fine, they needed to find the deed, and there was no harm done.

Having already seen the parallels this anonymous player was making between their character and myself, I bristled at my computer.

And I had a good idea who was on the other side of the computer after that. Especially after I found out he’d done a covert investigation check with Hal instead of sharing with me. He knew there was an enemy in the room before we even entered. Was likely planning on using me as a distraction from the beginning.

The next time he surprised me, we were working for the owner of an orphanage to find ways to exploit parents interested in adoption. Match goes along with it because why not. Also because fuck adults.

But Videre surprised both me and Jax.

I didn’t know what to think. By this point, I knew it was Kane. The fact that I asked Haz helps, but I know the way he talks to me. He’s the only one that would do this and keep up with it for so long.

So now, I’m not exactly sure what to do.

Match just died, like D-E-D, dead, and Videre is flipping the fuck out. The two of them had become fairly close friends. They were snarky and prickly toward each other, but they were partners in crime and would likely kill for each other.

Videre gets really scary in the final stretch of that fight.

I didn’t realize Kane thought so highly of my intimidation skills. I didn’t think he thought highly of me at all, not outside of work. I was just a tool and a weapon and something to either give orders to or take orders from.

But Videre is a force of nature toward the end. Being a mastermind rogue, they confuse the ice devil as well as fighting it. They show a lot of skill they didn’t before, turning a few unlucky rolls into happy mistakes. Even they seem surprised when they win.

so theres this girl. and i know her (unfortunately) and ive known her since like 4 years ago and back then she was already pretty shit tbh

she cried bc she had to sit in between the “weird” and “dirty” girls in our class and she headass cried in front of them and everyone just bc she didnt like the arrangement?? shes called the “dirty” girl disgusting before and has made fun of her in front of everybody its just bad :-/

now. fast forward 3 years and in addition to still being disrespectful and rude, she now vocalizes her weird fantasies for her “oppas”??? some examples:

all alone just started playng this is terrible lets get it

so day6. a band i only found out about in late june (thank u boxy) and before this i only ever listened to bts and mx bc my friends stan them so i thought i was gonna expect boys dancing, the usual. 

i clicked i smile and i lost my fucking shit as soon as i saw the instruments because prior to day6 i was a big 5sos fan so this was rly resonating to me tbh and i was just !!! so fukcng excited??? i never intended to even get into day6 honestly??? but after witnessing how good they are and watching about all of the available mvs at that point i was completely in awe so i caved a created a stan twitter for them.

now, this isnt even the most of it. after becoming a fan i realized how much more these 5 boys are. they compose (if im not wrong) and brian writes lyrics for the songs each month because of their everyday6 project and again, im wow-ed because??? the amount of dedication???? they went from releasing 2 title tracks in 2 years to releasing 12 title tracks and 12 bside tracks in a single year. they havent released the december song yet but haviing to work on 2 or more songs in 4 weeks is fucking amazing if you ask me. 

theyre really talented and theyre just so versatile (am i using that word correctly) and each month their songs sound different. this project has given them the opportunity to try new things and you can hear the steady improvement in each of their vocals (dowoonie not so much since he barely gets lines, but we all know hes working hard) and if you listen to their debut song - kongchu and compare it to the version they released along with sunrise it just???? the drumming has even changed from the original version nd its so noticeable that whenever i hear kongchu from 2015 i know its the old ver

to add to those, they do vlives every week and although those vlives are always scheduled it still makes my day seeing them and watching them do the usual. 

one thing im upset about is that how they barely promote themselves, they rarely get on variety shows (the most is individual schedules) and we, as mydays never really get to know the boys so its harder to fall for them as a whole. i dont know if its jyp or day6′s decision but if this is how they want to be known for - their music only, then so be it. we still have jae’s presence on youtube, music access and asc. thats the most we can get and it makes it difficult for us to learn about the rest but thats okay.

another thing. their concerts are something i always look forward to (even though my interest has died down a bit;) their concerts are just so fun to listen to?? there’ll always be mydays who stream the concert so everyone else can listen to them play and they sound so good live it drives me crazy. mydays are always so hyped and whenever mydays sing along it just gives me goosebumps??? bc theyre so???? good????? 

tldr; day6 deserve more, following wise and promotions wise because they work so hard and once this project ends i hope they’ll manage to rest but still remain as a presence that will be known instead of returning to jyp’s dungeon.

49. how did you get your biggest scar? uhh i was having a waterfight with a bunch of kids in my neighborhood and one of my friends tried to grab my arm so that he could dump a water balloon on my head but he ended up scratching it HARD and he left a huge scratch (he felt very terrible and did nothing but apologize for a wHILE lol)
