#i'm down for crossovers hmu

[Okey dokey. Now that I've imploded and have picked up those pieces (maybe), I want to discuss what I plan to do moving forward. I want to preface this by saying I do not blame anyone but myself for getting to this point. I didn't follow my own rules, and it has made me uncomfortable with what I'm doing on this blog.

This is mainly about shipping so, if you ship with me, you'll want to take a gander. Under the cut for obvious reasons and to not annoy people.]

So, this has really been a long time coming but I do think I want to reset pretty much all my ships. Again, this is not anyone else's fault but my own, but I've just sort of become bored with what I've been doing in that realm. I went against my own rule of building up ships and allowed them to be rushed instead of built from the ground up like I like. I want to go through the stages of getting two (or more as the case might rarely be who knows) muses into a relationship. I want to see the messy parts. I want to do more than just having relationships be established from almost the jump after one or two small interactions. It's not fair to my muses who are all pretty damn picky. I don't feel like I'm doing right by them by not building these relationships properly. I do love all the ships that have happened, but I'm just not happy with myself for not sticking to my guns about REALLY building them.

What does this mean? Good question. By default, I think this means that I'm just going to wipe the board clean of all ships, save for a few exceptions. I'm also going to lay some ground rules for shipping in general that are honestly more a reminder for me, but also a sort of "this is what you can expect" thing moving forward for my partners.

First and foremost, I'm going to be pickier. I'm not going to allow people to just come at my muses from the jump with anything that's obviously shippy in an established way. Flirting is fine, but if I get something like "I've always loved you" (within reason on this one because that could be interesting) or "we've been married for sixteen years!" when there was no build up to this or they're basically strangers, I'm going to ignore it. Anyone is welcome to come ask me to ship, but, at the risk of sounding harsh, we're BOTH going to have to work for it.

If characters have a history, either in my canon or regular canon, I'm obviously willing to be a WEENSY bit more lenient. For example, Nabooru and Vegeta, in my AU crossover shenanigans, already have some history. Not necessarily as a romantic relationship (unless it's way down the line and even that's not traditional), but they did build some rapport with each other in that realm to some degree. However, since my Vegeta isn't the same as someone else's, I do still want to do the lifting with getting them off the ground. I want to see how it would differ with someone else's Vegeta than with what I've written/imagined in my AU. And I should also disclaimer that no other Vegeta or any other character needs to know Nabooru or any other one of my characters in the way they do in my AU.

This is where I'm afraid I might hurt feelings or lose RP partners, though I really hope I don't as it's not intended. As mentioned, I am starting ships over. I know I told some people recently that I was okay with continuing what we had, but it's become clear that I'm not happy with what I allowed and how I rushed things. Basically, I am very much still willing to explore the ships I already have again! But I do want to sort of start at some kind of beginning. To build it from the ground or close to it up. If you don't want to deal with that, I understand, but I feel this is necessary for me to feel good about what I'm doing again.

I think that covers everything. If you have questions, don't hesitate to pop in my DMs or hmu on dis.cor.d. Again, I'm not upset with anyone at all! This was definitely a me issue that I didn't get a handle on before I let it get to the point it bothered me.

pre-atsv miguel, covering young!miguel, alchemax!miguel, vigilante!miguel, etc. all earth-928 based. basically covers everything before he goes messing with multi-verse tech. probs will be slightly more quippy & approachable here? i just can't write quips to save my life. 🥴bourbon's human!lyla also plays a big role in this, they're quite close!! as for the inclusions of dana.... hah :') xina though, yes. he still despises both george & tyler with a passion, and relations with... conchata... and also even gabriel are, for this verse... rockyyy... to say the least.

the main boi. and the default verse for crossovers especially. atsv based, with miguel being a leader and an absolutely changed and grieving man. i'm really enjoying putting him all over the place, especially in the present. take heed around him. main objective is stopping anomalies, and making sure more dimensions don't, uh,,, get destroyed,,, also gabriel's still alive... r-right, movie? you wouldn't kill him off too,,, would you, movie? :')))

kind of one aimed mostly at 616 / comics things. might occasionally use this at random, but it's more for interactions with chars who are 616 based and not mcu / movie affiliated. my spin on this is it follows the premise of necessary evil , where stone basically fucks him over and strands him in the past, but with atsv!mig instead of comics!mig. still ironing out the details how this happened. (maybe the portal functionality of his dimensional gizmo got blocked or something?) idk, still needs work!

a venture crafted w/ gabriella-trn1042's spider!gabri. alt take on atsv verse, whilst also amping up the 'miguel goes fucking around with genetics again' vibes. as close to villain!miguel as i might dare get, with the core premise of miguel turning a variant gabriella into a spider creature , with mig himself doing a good ol' heel-monster turn himself. loaded with angst and body horror. heavy on 'the fly' vibes, if you've seen that movie. been thinking of opening this up to other plots, if i can keep the core of this au intact... any takers? 🤔 gonna add a caveat tho that anything for this verse will likely need to be plotted.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

How to Find Your Way to the Center of a Spider’s Web. No one in the pairing dies (though a lot of people do die), but the ending isn't happy. It was my first fic and I was really going through it at the time, so I'm not sure I'd write something so hopeless now.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Advanced Chemistry. They end up happily together and Kara doesn't fail her chemistry class. An optimal outcome indeed.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I wouldn't say hate. I had some readers who were frustrated that my longfic ended sadly, and criticized the ending. I see where they're coming from. I'd thought I'd tagged appropriately etc, but I was still learning tagging etiquette on Ao3 so I may just not have signaled directly enough that it would not be a happy ending.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Not until very recently, but I'm practicing it as a skill and plan to include an NSFW scene in The Book of the Witch (so expect a rating bump up there.) It's hard for me as an ace person who hasn't dated much, so getting the emotions right is a bit of a challenge.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

No, unless you count the Spongebob Squarepants x The L Word crossover I wrote in a discord server to bother my friends and procrastinate on homework.

The Agreement. I think I need to take it down and back to the drawing board -- plan it out a little bit better before giving it the light of day. I wrote myself into a little bit of a trap with it, and it's been languishing for a few years, even though I love it very much.

Relatedly to the strengths, sometimes saying too little -- things can feel a little stilted or impersonal, especially during moments of emotional climax.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Only if I was very comfortable in the language, and the dialogue was very brief. I think I'd tend toward writing short lines that can be intuited out with context clues, or easily translated for the readers.

I go back and forward on this. I think The Agreement is the best written, but I feel anxiety about it because I just can't seem to keep it going.  August's experiment in going to the library to focus had proven futile that day, and so it had the next day, and the day after that- so he took the logical recourse today of doing the exact same exact thing again and going to the library to focus.

 He wasn't going to lie to himself though- he wasn't intending to focus on his writing- he wanted the opportunity to see Belle again. He'd known her a little as a kid, but he wanted to get to know her a little better as a man. She seemed well read in both realms, the kind of woman he could sit with to talk about books for hours and still have more to say to, and to listen to. So, as soon as he'd finished a little woodworking with his dad, August hopped back on his motorcycle and was off to the library.

 He took a breath as he walked through the door and reminded himself that she was just pretty, but nothing special, nothing to be scared of.

 But then he entered the library and saw her pouring over stacks of papers and manuscripts, searching every one of them for some kind of clue to the crisis they were trying to solve, lost for a moment in the world within the words- taken aback by the beauty in seeing her in her element.

 "Good afternoon, miss Belle." August said.

 She started when she heard him, having not noticed his entry.

 "Oh, hi, August." She ran her fingers across her forehead and hair, apparently frazzled.

 "Didn't mean to scare you."

 "You didn't scare me." Belle said, holding a stack of papers. "I'm just trying to make sense of all this."

 "I'll leave you to it. I've got some work of my own to do."

 "What have you been working on these past few days?" Belle asked.

 "A novel." He was surprised at her curiosity, but also tried not to reveal too much, to see if she'd ask for more.

 "I'd gathered that much." Belle rolled her eyes.

 He smiled at her slight frustration and decided to follow his teasing with a teaser. "A crossover historical fiction of both realms. As if the characters of our realm grew up in this world's history books."

 "Ooh." Belle leaned on a tall stack of books and papers. "Mystery or action?"

 "Mystery." August leaned toward her a little too. "With a little romance sprinkled in to spice it up."

 Belle smiled. "It sounds intriguing."

 "That's my angle." August said.

 He smiled at her a moment longer, but she shook her head and moved away from him. He nodded a goodbye and headed back down to his usual study space.

 When he'd started this story before becoming a kid again, he hadn't even considered a Beauty and the Beast inspired character. Now he stared at the manuscript in front of him, and the side character pushing her way to the forefront of the story, a revolutionary spy whose enemies were taken by her beauty- but she could pick out the beasts among them from a mile away- a character cleverly codenamed "Liberty Belle."

 He leaned back on the chair as he did a few times a day and saw Belle lost again in her little world, pouring over her runes- until the library door opened.

Prob Running Late or Shoulder Pain. I'm not really good with angsty endings so I usually only keep it angsty in the shorter fics lmao.

Ugh. Johnlock/Hmmk or Nrmt have to be like. The only ships that made me insane enough to write multiple fics over so it's def them. I love insanely codependant relationships.

There's so many. But off the top of my head, I have a fantasy AU that Beau and I came up with that I still love a ton (Finding You) and want to finish and a Edgeworth ends up in a Gregory lives AU (In Another Life) that I'm not sure if I'll ever finish. The former is just so much work and the latter I've kinda lost the plot thread so. Ough. Sorry.

I'd have to say A Study In Gold. I genuinely love that one so much. Thinking about hmmk early days makes me insane. I also really liked On the Morality of Birds b/c it was just such a supremely stupid fic.

I've been wanting to write as Peacemaker ever since the show came out, and with the release of his new comics, I've only fallen even more in love with him. so brief explanation: this is an resident evil osmosis jones crossover, lots of ocs and shared lore between the 2 canons. if you have any questions hmu because i fuckin love talkin about it.

heads up tho, this is gross so like. maybe dont read it if youre easily weirded out?

so in the au there are really only a few viruses talked about. Red death's like thrax, T-virus' like the one injected into patient zero, and the ones that were unleashed on Hector and Shane Detorre's school. lastly, there are the T-virus variants like Myx and Ataxia. while all these viruses are unique in their exact abilities, overall the share quite a lot. Especially considering most of these viruses are man made.

Basic virus biology

I know in the world of osmosis Jones, cells have gender. In my au I canon that although they have a preference for appearance and chose their pronouns, things are far more fluid than with humans. Even canon Ozzy and drix played with this in that episode Ozzy gets "pregnant". I'm not about to bring full mpreg into this au, but masculine presenting cells being the 'carriers'? That definitely happens here.

The main goal of man made viruses like the t-virus is not to kill their host outright. they mean to use psychological tactics against their victims and potential victims. inflicting fear and using it to spread their infection is something that comes naturally to them. unlike other viruses, whose main goal is to kill and add another notch in their dna chain, T-virus and their variants only want to spread, they do not collect dna beads unless programmed to. sometimes they spread via the bites or body fluids of infected, shambling hosts. sometimes with asymptomatic carriers and occasionally they completely sublime into the hosts immune system and become the new mayor ( as with patient zero and Cerebri)

Every now and then, they will mutate, or rather cause mutations in other viruses, perhaps create a new strain of t-virus. Given that cells are sentient in this universe, it is a cruel process that involves a lot of pain, to be taken over by a virus, thoughts and feelings that are not your own. some cells are resistant to this ( hence why the virus will occasionally sublime into a host and become one).

Certain strains are programed to cause mutations so that umbrella might find new, more effective strains of the virus. others, like Myx, are just naturally cruel and generate mutations randomly as a result of their brutality. This also doubles as their means of reproducing.

Reproduction

With regular cells like Ozzy or Leah or Maria, it's pretty simple. A single cell can divide (like Ozzy making mitosis Jones) or 2 cells of any gender or sex can make the woohoo and make more cells the old fashion way.

It's quite different with viruses unfortunately. Since they aren't technically alive , they are essentially infertile and can't reproduce in the traditional sense. If a virus wants to spread, they must infect an already existing cell, through touch or bite or sex. Doing that will transform the infected cell into a copy of the virus, which can then spread to others and so on and so forth. Most viruses, like thrax , prefer to simply kill their targets. It's easier and means less competition. They might accidentally kill someone while fucking or just infect a cell they meant to destroy. It takes practice to be able to control this ability.

T-virus' are an exception to this rule. while most viruses aim to kill their host, T-virus' and their variants aim A) to spread as far and wide as possible and B) to control the body, turning them into the shambling undead (or in myx and Ataxia's case, puppets for patient zero)

Virtually every part of a virus is infectious but most have a singular preferred means of infection. For Thrax it's his claw, for Myx it's her bite and for Cere it is a kiss. Their basic structure is upright although not necessarily bipedal (like Scarlet from ozzy and drix), with slick skin/hide, celia/tendril hair as well as predator features like sharp teeth, large forward facing eyes and claws. They will usually have unique traits based on the family of virus the are from (ie all t-virus' are digitigrade, red deaths have red protein envelopes.)

Some viruses share traits between each other. they cant replicate without help but they can improve one another. Again, viruses are not able to reproduce sexually, even with each other (although that generally won't stop them from trying) instead viruses engage in a...shall we say mutually beneficial exchange of DNA. Despite having varying genders all viruses have characteristics of more than one sex. Generally they have an appendage for giving DNA stands and an opening, for receiving them (although does vary).

Virus sex seems to function on some unspoken hierarchy, with the most deadly viruses at the top, the ones with the highest body count or longest DNA chain. they spread themselves and their worst( or best depending on how you look at it) traits to other, lesser viruses . sounds rather kind of them when you put it like that. the strong bolstering the weak? i can assure you, the words "kind" and "virus sex" will never be in the same sentence together.

Viruses mating (for want of a better word) is an incredibly destructive act. it causes corrosion and inflammation to the immediate area around them, damaging the body and any cells or germs in the surrounding area. To the virus themselves it can often cause a great deal of distress. while logically they know sharing dna will make them stronger, often they do not wish to be beholden to a creature stronger or more dangerous than themselves. Viruses aren't known for treating lesser life forms with any sort of care or kindness . To facilitate the act, Lesser viruses enter a sort of heat in the presence of more powerful strains. thought to be a quirk of biology to make them receptive, many viruses prefer to use it to take care of the competition or "thin out the herd" rather than its intended usage. neither seems to be a particularly palatable option, but when faced with such a choice most prefer to accept whatever DNA or trait is offered rather than have their nucleocapsid splattered across the nearest wall.

thomas/philip duke of crowborough: beautiful. powerful. complex. literally went down in flames. i have written hundreds of words of 1911 thomas being horny for philip that will probably never see the light of day but damn was it a fun character exercise. i love them. what a disaster. it gives me so many emotions.

Private question for an upcoming chapter update for a Ginny/Luna one-shot.... Besides being Autistic (including Evanna Lynch's wonderful take on Luna!)... would she also be canon Ace, too, like I interpret her? I didn't see/read her as Autistic but since you mentioned it, it makes brilliant sense (and I'm mortified that I didn't realize it since one of my sideverse fics is Hermione being Autistic and that could explain how they intellectually knock sparks.) With a casual comorbidity of traits[1]

I've been hemming and hawing over her being Pan (since she has a love and fascination of all forms of life) or being Aro, too (or Grey) and having your input would greatly assist me in writing her honestly and candidly (since I do write Luna from time to time.) first of all, love the URL, but i DID read it as “dva gonzo” so now i’m imagining aforementioned muppet in a mech. make it happen, ghost of jim henson. possess jeff kaplan or something.

as for your question, Luna isn’t canonically asexual, no (not as far as i’m aware anyway. if anybody has any textual evidence for this hmu i’d LOVE to hear it!!!).

lots of fanon interprets her that way for a variety of reasons - because they’re asexual and she’s their favourite character, because she’s autistic-coded and there’s a significant crossover with ace/autistic folks, or because she’s kinda weird and awkward (which, imho, is kind of an aphobic reason to headcanon that? but like whatever)

i like your interpretation of her being pan because she has “a love and fascination of all forms of life“ -- that’s a really interesting way to characterise that, because it links the orientation you’re giving her to a canon characteristic she has. obviously pansexual/panromantic people aren’t any more likely than, say, gay people to love animals and nature and whatnot, but it’s a really good symbolic reason for you to choose that. bravo!

my personal interpretation of Luna is as an autistic lesbian or bi/pan woman (depends what i’m reading/writing -- i’m down for harry/luna sometimes, sue me) but that doesn’t mean there’s no room for her being asexual in there, either. as i’ve said before, i personally don’t feel comfy actively headcanoning her as ace because i think that lots of (but definitely not all, so like, @my followers, dont come for me if you headcanon this lol) people HC her that way because she’s kind of a loner and a weirdo -- same reason there’s lots of ace/aro Neville headcanons; because he’s timid and shy, and i think these perpetuate untrue stereotypes about what it means to be a-spec.if you were to push me for an answer, i’d say panromantic -- again, that’s a phenomenal linking of canon to fanon you’ve done there with taking her omnibenevolent personality and using that as symbolic for how she loves anyone of any gender. if you feel like her being asexual, i say go for it. i usually play by ear with the orientation of characters (both in fanfiction and original content!)
