"I Just Don't Think That's Going To Happen"
Good news: I finally made a new comic!
Bad news: It's about something that sucks! If the good news here outweighs the bad, maybe support me on Patreon.
In the midst of talking about how much this sucks, I am extremely fortunate to even be able to move to somewhere safer. Please support those who can't, or who need a helping hand to go somewhere they can be themselves. (Give trans people money)
[Image description: Comic, sixteen panels. Panel 1: Robin speaking on her phone, clearly distressed, tears in her eyes: "I'm telling you that I'm scared. These people-- the kind of people you vote for-- want to take my health care, my rights away from me. I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave my home." The voice from the phone answers: "Well," Large dialogue text in a large white space between panels: "I just don't think that's going to happen." Panel 2: Robin, wide eyes still tearing up, stares in disbelief at her phone. Panel 3: A website heading "Home > News" above a headline that reads "Utah just banned gender-affirming healthcare for transgender kids. These 21 other states are considering similar bills in 2023." Panel 4: Another headline reads "Health care for transgender adults becomes new target in 2023 legislative session." sub heading continues: "Lawmakers prefiled many anti-trans bills ahead of state--" Panel 5: Robin looking at a tablet screen, concerned. Panel 6: Robin siting on a couch, watching TV. A speaker on the TV says: "After the anti-LGBTQ+ campaign prompted several protests and bomb threats made against the Boston facility, the group has now turned its gaze toward the Gender Health Program at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville." Panel 7: Several headlines: "New Tennessee bill banning 'male or female impersonators' in public could criminalize drag performers and trans people" "Missouri lawmakers ban transgender care for minors, restrict coverage for adults" "Tennessee has passed a ban on gender affirming health care for trans kids. The bill's exceptions may only exist on paper" They headlines are accompanied by a map showing the severity of anti-transgender legislation in different US states. Panel 8: Robin's spouse Jordan sitting on the couch, looking up from her laptop toward Robin. Robin is gripping her arm tightly, a look of distress and sadness on her face, tears welling in her eyes. Jordan says "That's it. We're leaving." Panel 9: Robin taping the top of a cardboard moving box, looking over her shoulder toward Jordan, who is saying something as she walks away holding another box. More boxes are stacked behind them. Panel 10: Robin sitting at a table with a large stack of paperwork and holding a pen. She is leaning back and groaning: "Eughhhhhh" Panel 11: Robin standing with three friends, embracing as one of them speaks "I'm glad we got to see you before you left. We'll miss you." Panel 12: Jordan and Robin standing by the open trunk of their car. Several bags and suitcases are loading into the back. Jordan is shoving things in tighter and grumbling "It WILL fit!" Robin, holding a vacuum compression bag of full of clothing that has yet to go in the trunk, looks unsure. Panel 13: Robin and Jordan standing in the empty house, lights off, with sunlight coming in from the windows in the back doors and lighting them from behind. Robin looks upset, Jordan has a comforting hand on her shoulder. Panel 14: Jordan and robin sitting in the very full car, their dog in the back seat. Jordan is driving, Robin in the passenger seat looking out the window. Panel 15: Robin, still in the passenger seat of the car, now propping her head up with her hand on her cheek. She is looking down, seeming morose. Large dialogue text in a large white space between panels: "I just don't think that's going to happen." Panel 16: closer shot on Robin. Her gaze has shifted outside the window, her expression is now bitter, with tears gathering in her eyes.]

Joe's Hot Ones experience
Transcript under the cut:
Joe: um, NopeQueen says, "everyone dying in the Hot Ones and then Joe and Pearl just snacking was amazing." Yeah, I--that's one thing--yeah, Cleo, I was talking to, uh, the late night crew about that last night. They were like, 'Joe, what happened with the chicken?' And I was just like, okay, well here's the thing: Nashville is famous for having really spicy chicken. Like, that's just what we eat here. Everybody else, for some reason, eats chicken from Kentucky. But...we don't. So--I was expecting, though, cause people were really talked up this Hot Ones thing like crazy. Cleo: Yeah. Joe: I was like, I'm gonna-I'm gonna get over--walk over there, and get absolutely like, thrashed by this. Cleo: Gonna get wrecked-- Joe: And it's gonna-- Cleo: --Cause you started at like, level nine, didn't you? Joe: I started at level seven. But yeah, I was like, uh--cause I was gonna get tagged in by somebody else when they tagged out. And they lasted longer than they expected to. So I'm like, okay, I'm coming in at level seven, Impulse says level seven in a lot of ways is the worst one. And so I'm just gonna--gonna walk over there and get wrecked. And it's gonna be hilarious. And--I just started eating it, and I'm like, this is just chicken, like, I mean, it had s--the sauce on it, but like I'm like, this is just how we eat chicken, where I'm from. (Cleo giggles) Well, maybe the next level will be hotter? And I'm like...this is still just hot chicken. Joe: Same thing, like, level ten--and, um, apparently too I've been eating chicken wrong, according to the audience. Cause, um, everybody's just like, y'know, cause I mentioned like, yeah, I could-- Cleo: You just chowed down from that. Joe: Yeah. And I said though, I could tell that it's spicy, that's why I had to drink two cans of Coke, and they're like, Joe, you're not supposed to drink Coke with chicken that's spicy. And I'm like, I know, but it was a kid's charity event so I couldn't have beer. And they're like, no, you're not supposed to have carbonation with spicy chicken. And I'm like, what? I-I didn't know this! I've been eating spicy chicken with carbonation for years! Apparently I'm doing it wrong, I must be bad at chicken. Uh-- Cleo: Joe Hills, bad at chicken. Joe: Yeah, yeah. So, I was-I was actually just kinda, like--I was really expecting to--I was like, this is one of those things where I'm overconfident, and I'm gonna get wrecked. Cleo: Yeah. By rights you should be-- Joe: And it's gonna be hilarious-- Cleo: You should've been. Joe: It's gonna--it's gonna be hilarious, but it's for charity, y'know, let's go. And I was just like-- Cleo: You were just like, nah, I'm hungry. Joe: That was the other thing, I was--I legitimately hadn't eaten, I was starving, uh, and so I was just like, 'oh this is--' Cleo: This is just nice chicken. Joe: It was--yeah, it was great. Uhm--

so im sure everyones fully well aware of the magic 8 ball site fob is using to promote a contest to win some tickets to see them in nashville. the little 8ball widget theyve got in browser is also modeled on the physical 8ball that they had in the vip merch packages for tourdust's first leg, which is cool! but of particular note is the way that, to fill out the contest form, you have to pick your favorite fall out boy songs. and the sheer breadth of what is allowed is...interesting? it's not cohesive by any means, but it is really wild the selection of songs they have here because not all of them are fob songs. in fact, quite a few of them aren't.
i went directly to the source code and got a full list of all possible songs that you could input (which you can check for yourself by right-clicking and selecting "view source"). i'm going to list them here for archival purposes, with a few notes/explanations cause some of these are WILD.
there are 187 songs total listed.
bolded songs indicate songs that are demos or never received an official release
italicized songs are songs by other bands
underlined songs indicate songs that are covers
songs with an asterisk beside them (*) indicate they are from patrick's solo catalogue. two asterisks (**) are for pete's.
additional commentary by me will be [in brackets]
20 Dollar Nose Bleed 27 7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen) 7-9 Legendary A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More "Touch Me" A Nice Myth [one of the earliest fall out boy demos, found on their first ep, and only the casette version at that] Allie* Alone Together Alpha Dog America's Suitehearts American Beauty/American Psycho (song) American Made Art of Keeping Up Disappearances As Long as I Know I'm Getting Paid* Austin, We Have a Problem Baby Annihilation Bad Side of 25* Bang the Doldrums Beat It Big Hype* Bishops Knife Trick Bob Dylan Bounce [this is a song that came out on then-Decaydance labelmates The Cab's debut record, Whisper War, which patrick produced. he has writing credit and also is credited with background vocals (and also shows up in the music video)] Caffeine Cold Calm Before the Storm Centuries Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends Champion Check Your Phone** Chicago is So Two Years Ago Church City in a Garden Coast (It's Gonna Get Better)* Coffee's for Closers Cryptozoology* Cute Girls* Cyanide** [this is a nothing, nowhere song that pete did some spoken word parts and backing vocals on] Dance Miserable* Dance, Dance Dead on Arrival Dear Future Self (Hands Up) Death Valley Deep Blue Love* [song patrick did for the indie short film "spell"] Demigods Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes Don't You Know Who I Think I Am? I Got Nothing, But You Got Something [this is the one that really perplexes me. there's no evidence of this song actually existing, other than an unverified genius post and an article on a single fandom wiki. it is inexplicably listed here despite its very existence being questionable at best.]
I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me & You) I've Been Waiting [this is technically a lil peep song with fall out boy as a feature] I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song) I've Got All This Ringing in My Ears and None on My Fingers Immortals Irresistible It's Hard to Say 'I Do', When I Don't It's Not a Side Effect of the Cocaine, I Am Thinking It Must Be Love Jet Pack Blues Just One Yesterday Lake Effect Kid (song) Lake Shore Drive [this is a song patrick covered on the piano at wrigley, first night of tourdust] Love from the Other Side Love Will Tear Us Apart Love, Selfish Love* Love, Sex, Death Lullabye Mad at Nothing* Miss Missing You Moving Pictures My Heart Is the Worst Kind of Weapon My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up) New Dreams [this is a bonus track on pax am days, a naked rayguns cover] Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner Novocaine Of All the Gin Joints in All the World One of Those Nights [another song from the cab's whisper war. this one has patrick doing vocals very prominently] Open Happiness [this was a huge collaborative piece done for a coca cola commercial. patrick was on it along with big names like cee lo green, janelle monae, and labelmates travie mccoy and brendon urie] Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued Parker Lewis Can't Lose (But I'm Gonna Give It My Best Shot) Past Life [llamania ep] Pavlove People Never Done a Good Thing* Porcelain* Pretty in Punk Rat a Tat Reinventing the Wheel to Run Myself Over Roxanne Run Dry (X Heart X Fingers)* San Diego [this is a blink-182 song that patrick did some writing for] Saturday Saturday Night Again* Save Rock and Roll (song) Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here) She's My Winona Short, Fast, and Loud Snitches and Talkers Get Stitches and Walkers So Good Right Now So Much (For) Stardust (song) So Sick [this is a song patrick has exclusively covered live, so it's a fascinating inclusion] Sober [another blink-182 song patrick did some writing for] Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year Star 67 Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea Sugar, We're Goin Down Summer Days (song) [this is a martin garrix song patrick lent some vocals to] Sunshine Riptide Super Fade Switchblades and Infidelity Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today The "I" In Lie* The (After) Life of the Party The (Shipped) Gold Standard The Carpal Tunnel of Love The Kids Aren't Alright The Kintsugi Kid (Ten Years) The Last of the Real Ones The Mighty Fall The Music or the Misery The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes The Phoenix The Pink Seashell The Pros and Cons of Breathing The Take Over, the Breaks Over The World's Not Waiting (For Five Tired Boys in a Broken Down Van) This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race This City* Thnks fr th Mmrs (song) [for some reason the site specifies song here, despite that not being necessary. the only other times this distinction is relevant is when songs share a title with their albums, i.e. save rock and roll] Thriller Tiffany Blews Twin Skeleton's (Hotel in NYC) Uma Thurman Untitled 1 (Colorado Song) Untitled 2 (Jakus Song) [both of these are recently released tttyg era demos] W.A.M.S. We Didn't Start the Fire We Don’t Take Hits, We Write Them [this is a song that famously was only ever performed live. we don't have a studio recording or even a demo, as only live versions exist] We Were Doomed from the Start (The King is Dead) West Coast Smoker What a Catch, Donnie What a Time To Be Alive What's This? When I Made You Cry* Where Did the Party Go Wilson (Expensive Mistakes) Wrong Side of Paradise [llamania ep] XO You're Crashing, But You're No Wave Young and Menace Young Volcanoes Yule Shoot Your Eye Out
in conclusion i have no idea who compiled this list. it doesn't include every song patrick and pete have ever touched (notice the lack of gym class heroes, cobra starship, and hush sound discography) but it has a really weird selection of songs. i mean, blink songs patrick wrote on?? its bizarre.
anyway do you think if we mass request swing me by the rafters they'll have to do it

Synopsis: Jack is captivated by a new country singer out of Nashville when he goes to one of her shows reluctantly. When the two of you meet, Jack finds out about your hesitations on getting to know him and tries to do his best in order to change your mind.
Pairing: Jack Harlow x Country Singer!Reader
Please Do Not Repost My Content Anywhere
Jack sighed in frustration as he, Urban, and Clay finally got settled in their seats on the balcony of the venue to see some singer that Urban had been obsessed with lately and apparently he learned on the way over here that Clay was infatuated with her too. He didn't even know her name, but everyone had insisted that he get some fresh air and get out of the studio at least for a few hours despite his protests. He was quickly pulled out of his thoughts by Clay talking to him.
“Will you get that look off your face? You can relax for a few hours.”
“You and Urban wanted to come, not me. I have a deadline to meet and I seem to be the only one that cares.”
“Will your ass stop being so fucking dramatic? You might end up liking her music.” Urban added as he took a long sip of the Coke that he had gotten before walking upstairs to the balcony area.
“Who is performing anyway?” Jack asked as he rolled his eyes since he knew that there was no possible way that he could escape.
“Her name is Y/N Y/M/N, she's gotten really popular over the last year. You've probably heard one of her songs but didn't know it was her.” Clay answered as he noticed that the venue was starting to fill up.
Jack simply shrugged in response because the name didn't sound familiar to him and pulled out his phone to pass the time in the hopes that you would be coming on stage soon.
About thirty more minutes passed when the lights began to dim and cheers were erupting across the entire venue. Jack was taken aback when he noticed that Clay and Urban had joined in and simply shook his head at them. Smoke was lining the stage before you appeared and the screams got even louder.
“Nashville, it's been a while, but I promised that I would be back for you. How are we doing tonight?”
Once Jack had seen you for the first time, his eyes went wide and went even wider when you opened your mouth and began to sing.
“You got that
90 proof love when the bar shuts down
2am you're just drunk On the town
Got that lonely kickin in
Jack D got you lookin for a rewind
One more last time
Like the last time
Hittin up my phone
Sayin swearing that you miss me
You ain't been the same
Ever since you ain't with me
But I know You ain't here in the name of love
You're just here in the name of whiskey”
And you could play the guitar along with the piano.
The entire time that you performed, Jack was mesmerized and made it his mission to find everything out about you that he possibly could once the show was over. What he didn't expect was when you were singing your last song, “Buckle Bunny”, a person that he assumed was on your team came up to him on the balcony.
“Mr. Harlow, I'm Carmen, Ms. Y/L/N's assistant, Ms. Y/L/N is requesting that you meet her backstage once the show is over.” She politely said to him.
“Yeah, sure thing.” Jack answered nonchalantly, but nevertheless he was excited.
Once you got off the stage, Carmen handed you a water bottle that you took a generous swig from before she was eyeing you as she led the two of you down the hallway leading to your dressing room.
“What, you weirdo?” You asked her as she then took your guitar from you as the two of you were now in front of your dressing room door.
“You won't believe who came tonight!!” Carmen basically yelled at you, but then she got quiet and you were waiting for her to go on.
“Are you going to tell me or just stand there smiling?”
“JACK HARLOW!” Carmen exclaimed excitedly, but you just continued to look at her which immediately made her get a confused look on her face.
“Don't you like his music? I invited him backstage when the show was over so that the two of you could talk.”
“YOU WHAT!?” You replied while looking at her in disbelief.
“I found out where he was sitting and told him to come backstage! What's the problem? Having a connection like that could be huge for you.”
You took a deep sigh before responding to her and had to realize that she couldn't have known your dislike for him since you had never told her.
“He was rude to my best friend Rory and ever since then I was never able to look at him the same. She has a vendetta against him and since we're basically the same person, so do I.”
Your next thoughts were interrupted by security bringing Jack back along with two other people and Carmen quickly pinched you to tell you to fix your face.
Before Jack could say anything to you, one of the people who he was with quickly stepped in front of him and you learned that his name was Urban who come to find out was Jack's best friend and he simply told you how much he loved your music. While the other person who introduced himself you learned was Clay and Jack's younger brother. The resemblance was undeniable and soon it was Jack's turn.
“It's nice to meet you and I love your voice.” Was all he said before bringing you into a hug which you gladly accepted.
“Thank you so much and thank you for coming. I really appreciate it.” You replied when the two of you finally broke apart.
“These two said I could use a break from being in the studio all day so the credit goes to them for bringing me.”
“I'm happy that I was able to distract you for a little while. Do you usually record in Nashville?” You asked to make friendly conversation.
“As of lately. I've been spending a lot of my time here and back home in Louisville.”
“Oh, that's right. I forgot that's where you're from.”
“So you’re a fan I take it?”
By this time, Carmen had walked off and she said for you to fix your face, but not to lie to the man.
“At one point I was.” You answered being completely honest. By this time, everyone else was deep in their own conversations and no one was really paying the two of you any attention.
“Wait? What changed?” Jack asked while laughing because he thought you were joking with him.
“My best friend met you and you weren't the nicest towards her so seeing as me and her are the same person, that's what started it.”
Jack looked at you confused and didn't quite know what to say next as you were literally just staring at him with a tight lipped smile. He didn't get a chance to respond as Carmen interrupted making all of your attention go to her.
“Hey, more people are asking for you.”
“Okay. Jack, it was nice meeting you. If you're going to be around Nashville for a while maybe we'll run into each other.”
“Uh yeah, nice meeting you too.”
Jack didn't know how to feel about the conversation that had just taken place and he was at a loss as you walked away from him and was laughing at something Carmen had whispered to you. First thinking that you were joking and then confirming that you weren't by your continued explanation made a pit grow in the bottom of his stomach. He had quickly become a fan during your show and seeing you perform, but it was clear that you didn't want anything to do with him despite how polite you had been. He was pulled out of his thoughts by Urban telling him that he and Clay wanted to go to a restaurant down the street from the venue and Jack quickly agreed with the thought of you now being pushed to the back of his mind.
A few days later, Jack was back in the studio when he decided to take a breather and was making his way to the front of the building to exit it in order to get some fresh air. You had been on his mind heavily and he simply wanted to get another opportunity to speak with you in the hopes that the two of you could reconcile and start fresh without the incident concerning your best friend hanging over his head. He knew that he wasn't a mean or a rude person so this had truly been bothering him and he hated the fact that now that was your perception of him. He wasn't paying attention to where he was going as he was looking down at his phone and mistakenly bumped into someone.
“Oh, I'm sorry.” He heard a small voice say, and fate must have been on his side because when he looked down, he was staring at you.
“Y/N, uh hey. It's not your fault. I wasn't watching where I was going. You record here too?” He asked, trying to make conversation, but all you did was give him that same tight lipped smile.
“Yes, I always have since I started recording my music. I'm always in studio B. For some reason all the other ones don't do it the same for me.” You politely answered as you typed on your phone quickly to let Carmen know where you were. Of course you were late once again and she was currently yelling at you through a series of text messages.
It was quiet for a few seconds before Jack spoke up again, coming to the conclusion that he probably wasn't going to get very far with you. At least not today. This conversation felt like pulling teeth and last time he checked he wasn't a dentist.
“Well, I don't want to keep you, so….”
Jack didn't even get a chance to finish his sentence before you immediately cut him off.
“See you around.” You quickly answered as you made your way down the hallway. Jack simply sighed as he watched you walk away, but at least he knew now where he could find you multiple days out of the week.
After that night at your show, Jack found out as much as he could about you which had him staying up at least until two that morning. He found out that you were an independent artist that was born in Louisville, grew up in Nashville and was now residing there. You were two years older than him and he found out that you were a pisces like he was. You had released a few EP's and had also released your album Buckle Bunny which had been at number one on the charts for weeks.
Once Jack made it back in the studio, all eyes were on him as he sat down and Clay asked him if he was ready to start back up again.
“I just ran into Y/N. Literally. Like I almost knocked her over.”
“Wait! She's here!?” Clay excitedly asked because he definitely wanted to work on a song with you if the opportunity presented itself.
“She's always in studio B apparently since that's her favorite one she told me and I've come to the conclusion that she also hates me.”
“Wait, what? How do you figure that?” Urban asked as he looked at him confused.
“Apparently I was rude to her friend when her friend had met me before even though I never remember being rude to any fan, but that's what did it. And now she and her best friend have a vendetta against me.”
“Oh.”
“I asked, so you must be a fan, then? Since she knew I was from Louisville and she then proceeded to say that she used to be and that had obviously taken me by surprise and then she goes and tells me why. I legit thought she was joking at first.”
“Damn. Jack messed things up before anything really got started.”
“She simply keeps things short and sweet. I want to fix this with her so hopefully she gives me the opportunity to do that.”
“Hmm, from the way that these two interactions went, I highly doubt it.”
The studio session came and went as Jack didn't stay for much longer since he knew that he was going to be back early the next morning. As he was laying down and drifting off to sleep, the wheels in Jack’s head started turning as he was trying to think of a way to ease the tension between the two of you. After about thirty minutes of trying to come up with an idea, it finally came to him.
The other night he had watched an interview of you that he had come across while scrolling through Instagram and you said that your favorite flowers happened to be sunflowers and roses and you liked how they looked when they ended up being combined together. Starting tomorrow he was going to leave a bouquet of flowers for you in the studio and write a note attached to it hoping that you would see it.
Meanwhile it was three in the morning and you were wide awake while on facetime with your best friend Rory who had just gotten back from New York and you had yet to tell her what happened between you and Jack. It had now been a few days and you figured that now was a good time to tell her.
“RoRo.”
“Oh goodness. You only use that tone when it's something serious so go ahead and spit it out.”
“Guess who came to one of my shows a few weeks ago?”
“Ohh was it Method Man!? He is GORGEOUS.”
“Rory, he has CHILDREN as old as you.” You exclaimed while rolling your eyes, but she just shrugged.
“I'm just trying to find where the point is in your statement… oh, that's right. There isn't one.” She answered as you saw her starting to unpack her suitcases. She always did right after she got back from a trip and you told her that she was a psychopath for doing it.
“You are so damn annoying, but it was your favorite rapper.”
“Me and Cardi got beef. We not talking right now. Have you seen those ticket prices for her tour? I'll be in the parking lot.”
“NOT HER!”
“Then who!?”
“Jack Harlow.”
Rory's entire expression changed as she rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth at your response.
“Don't nobody care about his big headed ass anymore.”
“He came backstage and I met him and we can thank Carmen for that one. Completely caught me off guard.”
“Hmm…. I hope he wasn't rude to you. And why would she set you up like that!?”
“And I told him about his little run in with you and how I used to be a fan until that happened.”
“Girl no the FUCK you didn't…” Rory exclaimed while pausing to look at you from unpacking.
“I think he thought that I was joking with him at first, but he changed his tune quickly after that.”
“I cannot believe you told him that to his face.”
“Well what else was I supposed to do? Lie? It's not like I was mean about it.” You asked and she was still looking at you dumbfounded.
“Well no, but a connection like that would do you some good in the music industry. You're just starting out and the last thing that you need to be doing is making enemies.”
“Umm, excuse me ma'am? Whose side are you on?” You asked while munching on your sour patch kids.
“Always yours! Don't be stupid but I don't know, maybe you should give him a chance.”
“What the? What the hell have you done with my best friend? Any other time he's brought up, you're ready to burn him at the stake!”
“I'm still here! But I mean truth be told that was so long ago. I do still have a vendetta against him, but to be honest it wasn't totally his fault. Soooo, you could probably let him off the hook.”
“Rory…… I basically just told this man to fuck off and now you're trying to tell me it was a misunderstanding!?”
“I… well…. It wasn't really him, but more so who he was with. His manager, Neelam.”
“RORY WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THE ENTIRE STORY!?!? NOT YOU MAKING ME HATE THIS MAN ALL FOR IT NOT TO BE HIS FAULT!”
“I'M SORRY! MAYBE YOU TWO CAN START FRESH!”
“Fuck! Rory! Now he probably thinks I hate him!”
“We can fix this!”
“No, Ro. You are staying as far away from this situation as possible. We do record at the same studio so maybe I'll run into him again.”
“Ask him out on a date!”
“WHAT!? NO! I don't even know if he likes me like that and he probably doesn't, considering how I interacted with him.”
“You never know though. I think you should go for it.”
“It seems like every time I listen to you, I find myself in a bigger mess than before.”
“I'm getting better!”
All you did was give her the side eye as you continued to eat your sour patch kids.
Over the course of the next few weeks, every single Friday, there would be a bouquet of flowers waiting for you at the studio before you would start your session and you had no idea where they had been coming from or who had placed them there.
Obviously they knew you well since it was always a combination of your favorite flowers which were sunflowers and roses. Carmen came to the conclusion that you had a secret admirer and you just shook your head at her, but you definitely wanted to know who this person was. Surprisingly you hadn't crossed paths with Jack even though you had been hoping that you would. But you figured that when the time was right, it would happen. You wanted to make amends and hopefully get to know him, if he still wanted to that is.
It was close to four in the morning and everyone had already left when you found yourself gathering all your belongings so that you could head home. Once you made sure that you had everything, including your newest bouquet of flowers, you started walking towards the front of the building.
Once in the parking lot, you realized that your car was parked next to Jack’s, as he was leaning on it and typing quickly on his phone. You walked up to him and waited for him to notice you. When he didn't, you simply tapped him on the arm.
“Hey. Haven't seen you for a while.”
“Oh, hey. Yeah, it's been a minute. I've been doing some appearances here and there between being here so I guess we've been missing each other.” Jack said as he now gave you his full attention and placed his phone in his pocket.
“You usually leave this late?” He asked and you immediately shook your head no.
“No, but I had a few more things that I wanted to work on before I left so I stayed a little while longer. I could ask you the same thing.”
“I couldn't sleep, so I came for about two hours. I'm about to head out now.” Jack answered as he was looking at you holding the bouquet of flowers and hoping that you would mention the notes that he had been leaving for you.
“Um, I'm not tired and there's a 24 hour diner not too far away from here. Want to get breakfast with me?” You asked as you looked up at him hopefully.
Meanwhile Jack's heart rate had increased and he couldn't believe what was happening.
“I just feel like I didn't really give us a chance to be friends and I want to change that and get to know you for myself. If you want to, of course.” You added as Jack still hadn't said anything.
He simply unlocked his car and opened the passenger side door for you.
“Clay and Urban are going to be so jealous.” He said before laughing and helping you into his Jeep as you smiled at him.

Hi, I would love recs for mclennon fics dripping in sexual tension, like six hours in August by stonedlennon. It doesn't need to have explicit sexual content. Thank you!
Thank you so, so much for this ask—this is a category of fiction I personally enjoy *a lot* (imagine Paul's "I slept with John..." pronunciation).
Here are some favorites that came to my mind. Some have sex on the page, others do not; I remember all of these as having excellent Tension™. I hope you find something you like here! Young J/P:
Streets of Your Town (@with-eyes-closed): Sensual. The upheaval in young Paul's mind as he falls in love with music and John, without putting a name to it. As of yet unfinished, but it's so good I rec it anyway, because it's...[read to find out, take a fan]
All I Know Since Yesterday (RedheadAmongWolves): Paul and John's first kiss at Paul's, after long, sweet hours of trembling fear/excitement. Paul POV.
The Way Things Sometimes Are (@paisanas): Young John is troubled and pining for Paul. Paul is mesmerizing through his eyes.
now and then (there's a fool such as I) (@stonedlennon): The Nerk Twins take the bus to Caversham and share a bed. You can smell the summer grass and the sweaty leathers...
(Ain't no cure for the) summertime blues (orphan_account): John and Paul alone on a hot summer day.
The Photograph (thinkpink20): John finds a Photograph Mike took of Paul and notices...things.
Hamburg:
ageless children, animal sweat (eyeball2eyeball): Read this story to spend time in John's throbbing, unhinged Hamburg mind. No sex on the page, and yet. It's *everywhere*. For such a short story, it takes up a lot of room in my brain. The Paul in this story is one of my favorite Pauls.
Sinful City (thinkpink20). Days and Nights in Hamburg. Paul needs John, and stops questioning things.
In Margaret Asher's music room:
Tell You Something (@louiselux). Lennon and McCartney write "I Want to Hold Your Hand." The tension rises.
In or near Paul's Geodesic Dome:
shotgunning (@pauls1967moustache): John and Paul languidly try something new...
Chrysalis (cloudy_blue): Tension in 1967. Hypnotic and stylish, I love it.
Stop all the Clocks (@javelinbk): After Brian's death, John and Paul retreat to Scotland. Grief and awakening ensue...slowly and sweetly.
Greece:
Way Up Top (@boshemians). Snapshots of J/P desire and spiraling doubts, contained in the Beatles' trip to Greece to buy an island.
Nineteen Sixty-Eight:
Outro (bakerstreetafternoon). From the Summary: 'Had it been this tension that had kept them together? Had it always?'
Bad Luck to Talk (7intheevening): Paul chats with JohnandYoko at a party and follows them home for a cup of tea. What hurts more exquisitly than pining? Unacknowledged pining.
John I'm Only Dancing (@skylikeaflame): Amidst the insanity of the Mad Day Out, desire erupts relentlessly.
The 70's as they should have been:
Down on the Farm (RosalindBeatrice): Incredibly hot and realistic (and funny in just right amounts!). John visits Paul in Nashville; Paul shows off Wings and the family, John stays the night. Dot dot dot.
I can only speak my mind (@paisanas): John's diaries are leaked to the press and printed; Paul reads them. What follows is the sexual awakening of James Paul McCartney as he reads of John's feelings for him. First rate pining, past and present.
I still miss someone/ I know that I miss you, but I don't know where I stand/ close the door lightly when you go (RosalindBeatrice): John and Paul meet in 1976. There is a spark. Few and far between meetings follow.
The Other Eighties (John lives and experiences sexual tension with Paul):
and when broken bodies are washed ashore (who am i to ask for more) (wardo wedidit): John divorces Yoko and visits Paul in Scotland. Soul searching and relationship mending.
The Birthday Party (@merseydreams): John and Paul meet at Ringo's Birthday Party. There is only one bed.
Tension through the Years:
Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (@savageandwise). John is turned on by Paul smoking. 1958—1969.

"At the Dakota once, after dinner, he pulls me into the bedroom, so I'm sitting on the end of his bed, and he says: 'I want you to tell me about your work with Paul Simon, because I understand you just reocrded in Nashville together.' We had just done 'My Little Town'. 'I'm getting calls from my Paul,' he said, 'who's doing an Allen Toussaint project. And he wants to know if I'm available for the recording. What should I do?' Can you imagine how I felt? John Lennon asking me for my advice? I could have pinched myself at that moment, because it made me realise in a flash: no wonder he captivated the whole goddamned world - he's so commercial. "He knew what to say to me that was connected and human and real and grounded and fascinating. And that's what he did with the whole planet earth. He was a hit record - his very being was like a hit. And I said to him: 'John, I would do it - put all personality aside and go with the fun of the blend. Make music with somebody you have made a sound with. A great pleasure is the thing to stick with.' He didn't take my advice."
Art Garfunkel in "It Was Twenty Years Ago Today," The Observer, December 3, 2000. Reprinted in The Beatles Literary Anthology, ed. Mike Evans, 2004

"Hey. You're Joe Hills, right?"
The man who turns to him to looks far too normal, a casual guy with long hair and green glasses and gloves. Quackity can't imagine why they beat Wilbur. Why her people campaigned so hard for him, why they had hundreds in the lead for hours upon hours until the polls closed and Wilbur lost to her. When the guy smiles cheerfully towards him, the question only becomes more poignant.
"Yup! That's me! Joe Hills, from Nashville, Tennessee." He offers their hand to shake, and in a flash Quackity takes it. Her grip isn't strong, and he blinks in surprise when Quackity's own is firm. "And you're Quackity, right? Good job with your poll!! That was a real close win, but your people pulled through right where it mattered!"
Quackity waves it off. "I never had a doubt. Of course my fans wouldn't let me lose! I'm the sexiest red bird around here, after all!" Unbidden, his wings flutter. "But heyyy, that's not what I came here for. I came here for you! We had an alliance, didn't we? Come on, hi-five, amigo, we did well today!"
Joe blinks. "We had an alliance?"
"Uh, yeah? What, don't tell me you didn't know." He scoffs. "Your fans didn't tell you? I heard you were out there campaigning yourself. Posting shirtless videos and everything! Just my kinda guy." Cheerfully, he slings an arm around Joe, pleasantly surprised when the guy doesn't even flinch. "I thought you agreed to the alliance yourself!"
"... Oh, that alliance!" Their eyes light up in recognition. "Yeah, I saw a few people talking about that. People get really excited in my chat, y'know? Though they were pretty torn." He shrugs. "I mean, Grian's a friend of mine, even if I have no clue how he thinks. But yeah, that was all them!"
Quackity can't help but stare. "You didn't know they were allying against a friend of yours?!"
"Nope! They just kinda do what they want." Joe laughs, the sound tinged with fondness. Something in that makes Quackity's gut churn uncomfortably. They just… do that? Ally against friends? Work with people who they think will stab them in the back later? And all in the name of someone who doesn't even know what they're planning? "I think it's great that they all got together to support you! But hey, there's only one person I'm hoping will win, and you know who it is! I wouldn't be campaigning for myself if I didn't want that win."
"Ha! Yeah, I know how it is." He grins back, golden tooth gleaming brilliantly. "Don't feel too down when I thrash you, alright?"
"We'll see about that!" Normally, Quackity would be on edge from that kind of declaration, but there isn't a shred of hostility in her vice. There's only delight, friendly competition. "I have faith that my viewers will pull ahead, and that I can campaign hard enough to convince people! I've been working really hard, after all. Even bought some new rainbow eyes, just for the occasion!"
"Wait, what."
Joe blinks, and when their eyes open again they are joined by a hundred others, flickering with a thousand colours and all seeing- staring- beholding. Just before he can think the word watching, they flutter shut.
"That's not the right word for me, just to be clear," Joe chastises him. "Watching. I'm not a part of that group."
Quackity has no goddamn idea what she means. So after a moment of stunned silence, he continues.
"... Do your fans think the eyes are hot?"
"I think they're sexyman enough to win the contest," he says, which clears up nothing. "But, most importantly, I think they'd vote for me anyway! Even without my beautiful, glowing, rainbow-checked eyes. Which are, by the way, divinely beautiful, and should be appreciated."
"Hey, man, if you're the kind of guy to buy new eyes for a competition, they'd better vote for you." Quackity shakes his head. "What, did they bribe you for it? Say they'd vote for you if you blinked in rainbows? That's not a healthy relationship, man, you gotta get out of there."
Joe snorts. "No, this is all for me. But thanks for worrying! If my people ever start demanding I grow new eyes before they tip me, I'll just find new people." He waves a hand nonchalantly. "I don't think my viewers would do that, anyway."
"... Hm." Quackity hesitates, settling a few feet away from Joe. "... I dunno, man. I mean, they made that alliance without you, didn't they? Hard to think you could trust 'em after something like that. Not a lot of unity in that kind of campaign, especially if there was some kind of in-fighting about voting me over your friend."
Some tiny, tiny part of him feels a little sick at the thought. But it dies down quickly enough. This isn't the first time he's brought people to blows over loyalty, after all.
But Joe looks unbothered. "They're good people. They'll figure it out for themselves. And they understand why people would vote you over Grian, or why their friends would support you."
"Oh?" Quackity raises an eyebrow. "You talk like you've seen it yourself. Did they shake hands and make up and write songs about their reconciliation? I'd love to see that- you encourage their poetry, it looks like. They've gotta have some skills."
"Nah, nothing like that. You're thinking too big, Quackity HQ." Their sunny smile shifts, softening at the edges. "They're just friends. They don't hate each other for wanting a different person to win. If this was something important like politics- which is very important, remember to vote on both a local and national level to support what's best for your community!- then it might be different. But this is fine."
He scoffs. "Please. I've seen the posts. Some of those guys came out swinging against me."
"And they know it's an exaggeration!" she assures him. "Just look around. All across this great land of Tumblr, there are people reminding each other to be kind. To be civil. To watch whether their feelings are turning into hate, and to take a step back and breathe if things go too far. Sure, things have gone too far. But that happens in all kinds of events, not just this one. And mostly, our viewers want to be kind."
"Man. You're a real ray of sunshine, aren't you." Quackity looks away. "But that's not really what I mean. It's more…"
He's not sure the words are right on his tongue. He says them anyway.
"They're supposed to be united," he tries. "I know you all wanted a Hermitsweep. Your people rule the polls. Doesn't it scare you, that they can split so much behind your back? Isn't it weird, to trust them with this?"
For a second, Joe is silent. Quackity grits his teeth, turns- but the faint green glow of his checkmarks is dim, and there's a twinge of honest fear in his eyes.
"... To be honest, it feels weird." He rests his head on their knees, fingers wrapped tight around her arms. "Just a little bit. I didn't expect this much. And the competition last round was a lot, let me tell you."
Quackity snorts. "I was there, man. No need to tell me. So much voter fraud…"
"And bribery! Don't forget bribery." Joe laughs. "But I do trust them. Whatever they do. I'll be disappointed if I lose, obviously, but it happens. It's hard to really be angry when you think about the core of all this."
"Popularity?" he jokes.
"Well, a little. I've been told Scar is not a sexyman, just a sexy man. Still not sure what criteria people are voting by. But mostly, I think it's love."
"Love?" Quackity raises an eyebrow. "What made you think that?"
Joe sighs. "I dunno. It's just… it's the only thing that it could be, really. This contest doesn't mean anything. There's no prize. All it is is just people wanting the entertainers they love most to win. And look at everything they've created for that goal."
Quackity knows. He's seen the swathes of art, the stories, the people getting out drawing tablets or phones or paper and camera to thank people who voted in their favour. He's seen old artworks shared years after their making. He's seen silly powerpoints, walls of text, analysis and promotions of videos from the starts of careers. It's a little terrifying, really, in the same way angels are.
He's pretty sure Joe would know, too.
"Yeah, not every one of my viewers joined your alliance. Even with my personal campaigning, none of them brought it up to me. But whoever they voted, whether it was Grian because he's someone they fought to see this high up or you because they wanted to share the support your people offered me, they voted out of love. Because they love me, or they love you, or they love whoever else they wanted to win."
"... They love you, huh?"
It's an odd thought. Quackity's well used to heartbreak, to abandonment. To people only staying because he had something to offer. But in this silly contest, with tens of thousands of people cheering for him…
"They love you too," Joe says with a smile. "So I'm happy you won. I'd say you're a pretty worthy opponent."
Quackity barks out a laugh, turning to Joe with fire in his eye. "A worthy opponent? You'll be taking those words back when I win. My people love me, don't they? So I'm sure as hell they'll put their money where their mouth is."
"Oh, we'll see." A thousand eyes open, turning a rainbow gaze upon him. He meets their stare head-on. "After all," Joe Hills says, "You were right about one thing. We want a Hermitsweep."

Thoughts on Pressured Femininity on the Internet
Look, I gave my post a fancy title!
In a lot of places on the internet, but especially tumblr (this is where I spend most of my time), I've noticed something, within trans circles, and without.
Generally, I'll see memes that refer to something femininely, no matter the situation, either through pronouns or adjectives or whatever. Like "girl help" or "good for her" (though I have seen that one edited to say "him" or "them" occasionally). And, I'm a trans guy. Even if I know it's incredibly general, being referred to as a girl isn't fun!
And then there's the post going around about F1NN5TER's girl month, with people saying he's an egg. Again, however, on this post, I have seen a lot of good gender commentary and people calling out the people using she/her pronouns for him, but it still highlights that people think that way.
And then the MCR show in Nashville happened. And this has been a phenomenon in the MCR community already, but Gerard wore a dress, so it's popped up more. GERARD WAY USES HE/THEY PRONOUNS. People keep calling him a girl and using she/her pronouns completely unironically (as far as I can tell).
The Gerard Way situation, and the F1NN5TER situation are direct misgendering. I don't care what gender you think they are, they know their gender better than you! Stop fucking misgendering people because they're gender non-conforming! That's exactly what you're not supposed to do! As a trans man who wears skirts, please. Men can wear skirts without being "eggs".
And now that I've gotten through the general community stuff, let's talk about the trans community.
I've seen, occasionally, memes and jokes about feminizing men, or prescribing every man estrogen, or whatever. With the implication being, make men trans women.
If I made that joke but reversed, I would be doxxed. If I made a joke about masculinizing women or prescribing every woman testosterone, I would be demonized. The double standards are glaring.
Also, it just... isn't a funny joke? You want to give people gender dysphoria by giving them a body that doesn't match their gender? Congrats, you're a bad person!
And that all is aside from all the "men are trash", "kill all men" stuff, but I don't have the energy to get into that.

The right side of my neck
J.t.k x f!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: when you attend a New Year's Eve party, the last thing you'd expect is to run into your old best friend, let alone fall in love with him all over again.
Warnings: 18+, alcohol consumption, mentions of underage alcohol consumption, very very SLIGHT angst, fluff?, kissing, longggg make out sesh, veryyy touchy, no smut (yet..)
A/N: are y'all tired of the Jake fics yet? Anyways, go listen to the right side of my neck by Faye Webster then come back because it's basically the entire theme of the fic. Also can I just say I love doing song inspired fics??? Enjoy!!🫶 (part two coming soon??)
.
You stare at yourself in the mirror, your head tilted to the side as you try to come to a conclusion. The dress your roommate picked out for you is very pretty, but skimpy. It's incredibly short and if you're not careful enough you could flash everyone at the party, whether it's your boobs or your ass.
"Y/N, you ready?" Your roommate shouts from the living room, and you realize just how long you've been staring at the dress. "Yeah, I just.." you walk out of your room, dropping your hands by your sides in defeat. "I don't know."
"Oh come on, girl. You look hot!" She walks over to you, brushing your hair away from your eyes. "I'm going to flash someone, Ana, seriously," you take a step back, silently telling her to take another look at the dress. She quirks a brow and looks you up and down, a smile playing on her lips "at least you'll look good doing it."
"So are you wearing it or not?" She crosses her arms, growing impatient. "Fine," you mutter, slinging your purse over your shoulder. Ana's eyes light up, a big grin growing on her face "Yay! Maybe you'll catch someone's eye..."
Ana was the first to take you in after moving to Nashville. You originally knew her from when you lived in Michigan as kids, she moved to Nashville a few years before you did and you got in contact with her as soon as you found out you were also moving.
"If I embarrass myself in front of an entire party I'm blaming it on you," you smile, slipping in the passenger seat as Ana starts the car. Ana got invited to a New Year's Eve party hosted by some musician she'd somehow become friends with and could bring one other person, she chose you.
"Are the people gonna be all... Pretentious?" you giggle, resting your face on your palm. "Well.. it isn't just musicians. I mean I got invited," Ana smiles, pulling out of the driveway.
It wasn't very long until Ana was pulling into the driveway of a large house, cars lined up along the street. Ana introduced you to her friend and people she knew, staying by your side for the majority of being there. She wasn't wrong, there were plenty of 'normal' people, but there was also plenty of artists.
Living in Nashville, you see countless musicians, but you never really talked to any of them until tonight. "See, I told you it wouldn't be so bad," Ana grins, pushing your hair from your face and throwing back her drink.
"Oh my god," you grab Ana's arms, a smile pulling on your red cheeks. "What!?" She practically yells back, her eyes wide. "I love this song!" You shout, grabbing her hands and moving them to the song playing. You watch her face relax, a large grin growing on her face as she starts to dance with you "Jesus girl you scared me."
Just then, you catch a glimpse of something that nearly takes your breath away. Something you never thought you'd see again.
"Holy shit," you mutter just above a whisper, taking a complete step back. "Ana, holy shit," you look to your roommate, your lips parted and your eyes comically wide. "What, Y/N?" She looks around, confused at your shock until she also sees it.
"Y/N is that.." Ana gasps, her palm over her mouth. You both try not to stare, try to pry your eyes from him, but neither of you can help it.
Just as you go to say something, his head turns in your direction and you watch a look of pure shock wash over his face. Jacob fucking Kiszka.
You take Ana's wrist, practically running away from him and pulling her with you. Jake was your best friend growing up, you guys did absolutely everything together. You were always by each other's sides and when you weren't, you made it your job to let everyone around you know. You were smitten with him, it was a bond nobody could ever break, that was until you had to move away after graduation.
When you moved, you completely lost all contact. It killed you. The first year was the worst, you grieved him as if something horrible had happened. As if he'd passed. Sometimes you still find yourself wondering what it'd be like if you never left Michigan, or maybe if in another universe you stayed friends, even after all these years.
You knew you should be happy to see him, but all those emotions from that year just came rushing back to you. You weren't ready to talk to him, not yet. "Y/N, oh my fucking god!" Ana shouts, her mouth wide open. You stop in a darker area, desperately hoping people won't notice you as tears form in your eyes and you start to practically hyperventilate.
"Oh, Y/N," Ana runs her hand through your hair, pulling you into a hug. You're more than grateful that she understands, if you were with anyone else they would've interrogated you about everything. The sweet scent of her perfume calms you down slightly, giving you enough courage to pull away and collect yourself.
Your mind had been running a thousand miles, so many emotions running through your head at once. "Not to overwhelm you but... Do you think you're gonna talk to him?" Ana questions, walking over to the sofa with you and sitting down.
"I... I don't know," you drop your head "I feel like I kinda have to, you know? I spent so much of my life with him." Ana nods, tucking your hair behind your ear as you talk. "Hm. I think you should. I mean, no offense but I feel like it'd be.. I don't know.. bitchy to not say anything. I just don't want you to be sad again," she smiles sweetly, looking up and finding none other than Jake's twin brother.
"Y/N," she whispers, bumping you with her elbow "Josh is here too." Of course, as if you weren't distraught enough by Jake, Josh is here too. He knew exactly how you felt about Jake, you trusted him with your life. There were countless nights you'd stay up telling him your deepest secrets, including how in love you were with Jake.
"Y/N?" You hear your name get called from across the room by a voice nobody could ever mistake. You and Ana look at each other with wide eyes for a moment, having a silent conversation before you toughen up and face him. "Oh my god. Y/N!" Josh practically runs over to you, taking you into probably the tightest and longest hug you've ever experienced the second you stand up.
"It's really you, huh?" Josh pulls back slightly, his hands still on your back as he marvels at your all grown-up look. "Mhm," you smile "this is crazy. I really never thought I'd see you again." The look on Josh's face is pure serenity, so excited to see you. You wish you felt the same.
"You look amazing!" Josh nearly shouts, exaggerating every word with his hands. "Are you kidding? You look incredible," you grin, placing your hands on your hips and watching him shy away, a genuine giggle slipping past your lips at the sight.
Josh moves on to Ana and you stand there silently, conflicting emotions coursing through your head as they catch up. "What are you doing in Nashville?" Josh quirks an eyebrow, his eyes so bright and genuine. "I live here now. Well, we live here," you gesture to Ana. "Yeah. She sleeps on my couch," Ana jests, crashing her hip into yours.
"Are you serious!?" Josh exclaims "we live here!" Your eyes open comically wide and your cheeks turn burning red "you're joking." A loud chuckle erupts from Josh's mouth "I'm not."
"That's so- I mean- when did you move? Why?" You stammer, frantically looking back and fourth between Josh and Ana. "We just needed a place to settle down, you know? I mean we'd just been basically living out of suitcases," Josh smiles, but quickly picks up on the blank look playing across your features. Suitcases? Settle down? Now you're really confused.
"Oh my god- you don't know, do you?" Josh's face lights up, a certain glimmer in his eyes becoming evident. You simply shake your head with a tight-lipped smile, your eyebrows tipped slightly up in confusion. "Remember that little band we had?" You can tell Josh is proud of what he's about to say.
Josh's grin somehow grows even larger as he watches you connect the dots. "Shut up," you nearly whisper "are you serious?" Josh simply just wears a proud grin as he nods. You're overwhelmed with excitement, however it seems to turn into something else. Shame maybe?
Your cheeks flush pink and suddenly you're filled with guilt. You didn't even care to find out about what they've been doing. You could've easily searched his name and instead you chose to be ignorant.
"Oh my god I can't believe I didn't know! I mean, we spent so many years together and I didn't have a clue what you guys are up to now. I'm so sorry, Josh." He gives you a weak smile and shakes his head "no, it's okay. I understand. Don't worry, Y/N." His reassurance should make you feel better about yourself, but it doesn't. You muster up a tight-lipped smile but fail to hide the hint of shame behind it.
The next few moments are quiet, and you tell he's hesitant about what he's about to say next.
"Have you talked to Jake?"
For a split second you can almost feel your heart stop. No. No, I didn't talk to him because I ran. I was too afraid to even look him in the eye, you think to yourself. But what could you possibly be afraid of? Shouldn't you be overcome with joy? Completely and utterly sublime?
"Uh... No, I haven't," you drop your head "but I did see him." Josh's brows furrow in confusion, but he seems to understand. "I don't know what happened. I just- I saw him and-" you start to stammer, but fortunately, Josh just cuts you off. "Hey, it's okay," josh giggles, smoothing his hand over your arm.
You let the gentle feeling of his hand calm you down, an upside-down smile making it's way to your lips. "But, I think you should go talk to him. Alone," Josh's tone gets slightly more serious. You know he's right.
You stand there for a moment, collecting the thoughts that have been bouncing around every inch of your skull. "Okay," you all but whisper as you smooth out your dress. "How do I look?"
You let Josh and Ana shower you with praise for a little, letting them boost your confidence. You definitely need it. "You guys better stay right here," you nervously smile "in case I can't find him."
The two wish you good luck and send you on your way. You feel giddy as you make your way through the party, zigzagging through bodies, heaven only knows how badly you want to stop. How badly you want to run back to josh and Ana. You feel your palms and the soles of your feet start to sweat, but you can't turn back. Not again.
Just as you're about to give up, you spot him. Some girl is practically hanging on him, and suddenly you're not so sure about going up to him. Why should you care if a girl's with him? It's not like you ever dated, and after all the years you think you'd be over him by now.
Suck it up. You stand up straight, fixing your dress and hair, watching as the girl places her hand on his chest, running it down his torso. She's gotta be his girlfriend... But he doesn't look too infatuated with her. God, why does it matter? What difference does it make?
You take a step, your legs carrying yourself towards him before you can even get your thoughts sorted. You take another step, then another, then stop. You're closer now, but there's still plenty of space. Maybe you're not as ready as you thought you were.
You can't stop watching the girl. You're about to just ignore it and toughen up when he looks in your exact direction. This time you don't immediately run away, you stand there, holding eye contact for a couple seconds before you almost run to the bathroom.
In the corner of your eye, you're almost positive you see him shrug off the girl and start to practically run after you.
You speed up to the bathroom and quickly shut the door behind you, as if a killer was chasing after you. As you observe yourself in the mirror, there's a gentle knock on the door, followed by your name. It's Jake.
You clamp your eyes shut, wishing that, for a moment, you could cancel out the world around you. Sucking in a deep breath, you reach for the doorknob, your shaky hands slowly opening the door. "Hey," Jake's voice is soft and raspy, sending a chill down your spine.
You hesitate, your eyes raking over his entire body "Hi, Rockstar." A shy smile finds it's way to his lips, and you can't help the grin pulling on yours. As you step out of the room, he holds out his arms.
You practically throw yourself into him, you never really realized just how badly you'd craved his warmth until right now. "I missed you," you mumble into his chest.
"Oh Y/N, you have no idea," Jake chuckles, rubbing your back. Tears prick your eyes as all those memories come rushing back to you, but you hold them back as best as you can. Finally breaking the embrace, the two of you silently just look at each other. Your eyes rake his body, though he's still relatively young, he's aged well from the last time you've seen him. You can't deny, he looks amazing.
"I think Josh and Sam might've thought of kicking me out if I mentioned you one more time that first year," Jake chuckles, "but we all missed you." Oh come on, Jake, you think to yourself, because your eyes become glossy with tears yet again.
"I was actually the opposite," you confess, your cheeks suddenly burning up. "I couldn't bring you up without crying," you giggle "but I swore I smelled that cologne you used to wear every single day for months." A soft grin plays on his lips "I've upgraded since then."
"Congratulations, y'know, on your band," you smile and playfully push him. "Thanks. You surprised we made it?" He jokes, but you can tell there's slight sincerity behind it. "Not even," you roll your eyes with a grin, starting to walk towards the kitchen, silently telling him to follow.
"Oh yeah?" He smirks, hastily following you through the bodies of people. "Yeah, I mean, It's always been your dream. I can't imagine you being anything other than a rockstar. I mean, you guys had room for improvement, of course," you giggle, your eyes set on shot glasses on a table in front of you.
A chuckle bubbles up from his chest "yeah. Hey, have you heard us?" You reach the table, silently pouring yourself and Jake shots "uh... no. If I'm honest, I didn't even know you guys.. you know... Still made music."
Jake's eyes widen slightly "Really? Not even on the radio?" You shake your head, suddenly feeling extremely guilty. You can tell he's just a little hurt, not mad, just upset that you never even cared. Who can blame him?
"Who knows, maybe I have heard it," you hold out his shot with a slightly guilty smile, jake accepting it with a grin. The two of you throw back the shots on the count of three, flashbacks of your graduation party resurface in your mind. It was one of those nights when you just wished nothing could ever change, but of course, everything did. If only you knew then what would happen.
"So," jake smirks, that cocky little expression you recognize from your teens. You hum and step closer, returning his energy. "Wanna talk about that night?" Your eyes blow wide, your cheeks flushing an embarrassing shade of red. That night. One of the last times you'd seen him. It was a going away party. You were practically on top of him, and he had to turn you down because of how drunk you were.
"Oh my god. Seriously, Jake? That was years ago," you whine out of embarrassment, remembering just how desperate you were. "I remember it like it was yesterday," he grins, poking your side. He puts on a high pitched voice, mocking you "Jake please, I want you..."
"Jake!" You whine "how do you even remember that?" He erupts with a cocky laugh "how could I not?" You roll your eyes, your cheeks so red and so hot you feel like you need to dunk your face in ice water. He's still as cocky as you remember.
"So, you talked to josh, huh?" jake smiles "y'know I'm hurt, you ran from me yet you had no problem talking to my twin." He puts his hand over his heart, pretending to be wounded. "Well, I didn't really have a choice. He kinda cornered us," you giggle, turning around and pouring yourself something sweet.
"Mhm," he smirks and steps up to your side, leaning against the counter. "You look so.." he doesn't finish his sentence. "What? Gorgeous? Sexy?" You grin, sipping the concoction you'd put together and mirroring his position.
"I was gonna say old," he chuckles, grabbing a champagne glass and the bottle of Dom Perignon off the counter. "Wow," it's your turn to look hurt "I could say the same thing about you." But you couldn't. He definitely looks more mature, yes, but far from old.
"You guys live here now? Like, all of you?" You sip your drink. "Well, only the three of us. And Daniel of course," he grins, and you watch intently how his plush lips close around the edge of the glass he drinks out of. You quickly, and awkwardly avert your gaze once he catches you, a chuckle slipping past those pink lips.
"So," he practically purrs "you got a new years kiss?" Your cheeks flush red and you make a rather disgusted face "god no." Jake tilts his head to the side with a smirk at your question. "Do you? I saw that girl all over you earlier," you poke his chest, that warmth of his on the tip of your finger makes your heart ache for another embrace.
"Oh, no," he smiles bashfully, shaking his head. "She was making me rather uncomfortable, actually," he snickers, fixing his almost completely unbuttoned shirt. This is the first time tonight that you completely took in his outfit. Two beautiful silver necklaces resting against his bare chest, his signature unbuttoned shirt, a black blazer over the top of it and black pants "you grew out of the old flannels?"
"Of course not," he stands straight in protest "I just wanted to be a little more fancy."
Before you knew it, it was almost twelve and you'd completely forgotten about josh and Ana. The two of you were so lost in conversation, or you just trying to stand up against his cockiness, that you lost all track of time. You and Jake had absentmindedly wandered through the house over some time, not taking account of how much alcohol you've had.
You found that Jake still had an effect on you, could still effortlessly make you blush like a little girl. You also found that those feelings you felt all those years ago might've never left.
"Oh shit," you mutter as you notice the time on your phone, mindlessly taking his hand and dragging him with you as you wander through the large house.
"Where are we going?" Jake practically shouts and you hear the giggle in his words as he stumbles along behind you. "To find Josh and Ana! It's like eleven fifty-eight!"
As you're about to give up looking for them, you crash into someone, sending you to the cold wooden floor. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" You fix your hair, your cheeks beet red as you grab your purse. Jake reaches his hand out for you, pulling you to your feet in one quick movement.
As soon as you get up, the countdown starts. Ten! You look at Jake with wide eyes. Nine! You start to giggle. Eight! Jake begins to laugh with you, still holding you close. The countdown seems to be going by too fast. Five!.. Four! You now have three seconds to decide what to do. Three! You look around to the couples getting ready for their kiss.
Jake seems to be just as lost as you, you've both stopped giggling now. Two! You look at Jake, his low, slightly bloodshot eyes stare back at you, a grin pulling on his cheeks. Your hands come up to cup his face and his large hands pull you in by your waist. One! Jake pulls you in even closer and before you can think, your lips find his.
Your hands move to his hair, the tips of your fingers massaging into his scalp as your lips mould with his. You almost feel as if electricity is flowing through every part of you and you never want this moment to end. The warmth of his body and the lingering taste of alcohol on his breath is addicting.
Your nose presses into his face, pressing yourself as close as possible into him and you start to lose your breath, but you cant get enough. When you finally lose your breath completely, you break the contact with your lips, resting your forehead against his. "I have waited... Far too long for this," Jake whispers, his hand coming up to cup your cheek, gently caressing it.
You almost forget you're in public until someone bumps into you two. You break the embrace and you look at each other, silently coming to the realization that neither of you are done. Without hesitation, he grasps your wrist and pulls you through the people who probably saw the two of you kissing. The thought makes you grimace. PDA has never been your thing, even at parties.
Once Jake finally manages to find an open bathroom, he pulls you into the room and gently presses you up against the closed door. You reach your hands up to cup his cheeks, drawing circles into his warm flesh with your thumb. You pull his face close to you and once again let your forehead rest against his.
The two of you just stand there for a moment, breathing each other in and gently running your hands along each other's body. "I thought I'd never get to touch you again," Jake whispers, taking your hands in his, and kissing every one of your fingers down to your palms.
The moment he's done, he drops your hands and pulls you into him, running his tongue along your bottom lip. The way he's exploring your body, praising you and being so gentle, could almost make you cry. You know saying goodbye is gonna be impossible.
His lips press against yours again, his large hands cupping the back of your neck. "I just want to.." Jake breathes between kisses "make up for all that time I should've been kissing you." Your heart aches at his words. You don't know how you'll ever be able to stay away from him after tonight.
Jake's calloused fingers wander down your body, running past your shoulder blades down to the small of your back. No matter how close he pulls you it never seems to be enough for either of you.
Like his hands, his kisses begin to wander down. His lips light your body on fire as they drag along your neck. "Jake," you breathe, your fingers entangled in his wavy hair. You feel a smile on his lips and he hums against your neck, a shiver creeping up your spine once he bundles up the fabric of your dress in his fist, leaving your ass slightly exposed.
He doesn't fail to kiss every inch of your neck, sucking the skin behind your ear into his mouth and lapping at the skin. Soft, barely audible breathy moans escape your mouth, each one further encouraging Jake. Slowly and gently, he makes his way back up to your lips, his hands still resting on the small of your back and grasping your dress.
Your hands find his face, your fingers coming up to his lips, feeling the plush pink flesh beneath the digits. You finally have him at the tips of your fingers, literally, and you're not gonna waste it.
He smiles, letting you take full advantage of the moment, knowing that you've both waited years for this exact moment. One of your hands moves his hair away from his face and you cup his cheeks, kissing his forehead down to the very tip of his nose. You draw lines of kisses all across his face, over those cheek bones you've always loved, his jawline, his temples.
Finally, your lips return to his, his tongue brushing over your lip. You part your lips, allowing him access to your mouth. His tongue dances with yours so beautifully, as if you've kissed him like this thousands of times, and god, the taste of him.
He bundles up your dress at your waist, his fingers digging into the flesh of the back of your thighs as he lifts you up, and you can't help but erupt in a fit of giggles, grasping onto him. He carries you to the counter and gently places you down, his rough hands running down your bare thighs sends a shiver up your spine. "Hi," You smile, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and pulling him into you.
He takes your bottom lip between his teeth and pulls on it before smashing his lips into yours. You lean into him, your hands cupping the back of head. His hands are still on your thighs, slowly moving further and further upwards with each second. His thumb caresses the smooth surface as his fingers gently squeeze the skin.
A shiver creeps it's way up your spine as you feel Jakes calloused fingers sneak up under where your dress is bunched up at your waist, slowly moving up your tummy. Just as his fingers reach your breasts, someone knocks at the door.
This startles you, and you both flinch back. "Hello? Is Y/N in here?" Calls a voice from behind the door, it's unmistakably Ana's.
"Uh," you clear your throat "yeah!" Jake grabs your waist and helps you down without making much noise. You both look at each other, panicked. "Hey, I don't mean to be boring I gotta go, so.." she shouts over the loud voices and booming music.
"Oh, no it's okay! Don't worry," you try your best to flatten out your dress, noticing the large wrinkles from where he grabbed at and bunched up the fabric. You shakily open the door, your cheeks flushed bright red.
"I checked every bathroom. Well every one I could fin-" she cuts herself off once she notices the man behind you. He lets out a low chuckle, "she drank a little too much, we tried to find you but it would've been too late. Poor girl." You stand awkwardly as Jake makes up a story on the spot and rubs your back, watching Ana's grin grow bigger.
"Ohhh I see," Ana smirks, grabbing your wrist and pulling you through the door. "Sorry, Jake. I wish we could talk more but we really gotta go. Especially if Y/N is sick," she grins, slinging her arm over your shoulder. "We should have lunch soon!" She digs through your purse and grabs your phone, opening your contacts and handing the phone to Jake.
Once he's done typing in his number, she drops your phone back in your purse, saying bye and beginning to walk off. "Ana, why don't you go? I'll catch up," you smile, subtlety giving her a look that she instantly picks up on. "Oh, of course," she smirks, blowing a kiss and walking away.
"So," you flip around, straightening out Jake's jacket "see you soon?" His grin grows wide and his eyes glimmer with something you can't quite place. "See you soon," he chuckles and leans close to your ear "I'm not finished with you."
The words send a shiver down your spine, and your cheeks turn an embarrassing shade of red. He kisses your warm cheek before grabbing your chin and placing a peck to your lips.
"Bye," you nearly whisper, smiling like a little girl. "Don't be afraid to call me," Jake winks, placing a kiss to your forehead and walking off. You can't help but look back at him, the thoughts in your head swarming around like bees.
As you catch up with Ana, you catch yourself smiling, unable to knock the stupid expression off your face. You know you're in deep.

- "Julien’s the type of dom to say shit like “you can take it” and the type of sub to say shit like “i can take it” I just know i'm right !!"
- "julien being called daddy perhaps"
The ride back to the hotel was filled with peter steele's voice, Julien's tongue against yours and your hand down the front of her jeans. Massaging circles into her soaked briefs, and biting down on her plump bottom lip. The two of you stopped caring what the others thought about 5 minutes after you got into the car. The rest of the group were drunk or high and not paying any attention to the two of you in the very back.
The boys were singing loudly and talking over each other, so no one noticed the loud moan that Julien failed to completely suppress. You pushed two of your fingers into her slick entrance, using the palm of your hand to massage her clit.
Julien's face was pressed into your neck to muffle the whimpers that were coming out of her mouth. Your fingers fucking into her as fast as you could without being too obvious. You suppress your own moan at the feeling of her, She's hot and wet and begging for you. You press kisses onto her sweaty forehead before she pulls you into another heated kiss. It's sloppy, all teeth and tongue and maybe too much spit, if it were anyone but her, but you'd happily drown in her spit. Julien whines into your mouth, pulling away to whisper in your ear.
"Fuck baby, i'm going to-" Julien cuts herself off, gasping into your neck. You feel her teeth graze against your neck before biting down. Her body tenses up, you feel her clench down on your fingers.
The car rolls to a stop in front of your hotel, you hear Julien cuss under her breath. Her hand drags yours out from her jeans, begrudgingly. You can tell she's even more worked up than she was in the club, you hate that she didn't get to cum. You mentally promise yourself that you'll make it up to her, eagerly and repeatedly.
As the others start unloading from the car, you move your hand to your mouth sucking your fingers clean, moaning to yourself over her taste. Julien groans loudly as she climbs out of the car, buttoning her jeans.
"When are y'all flying back to Nashville?" Lucy asks, as Julien helps you out of the car. She presses a kiss into your hair, before answering.
"Tomorrow at 3."
"Oh i'm leaving the day after, if you two are up early enough let's get lunch," Lucy said as you all made your way to the elevator.
"Ooo Lunch at that thai place would be sick." Phoebe added. Julien looked over to you waiting for your answer.
"Yeah that would be cool," You smile wrapping your arms around Julien. You press your face into her hair, breathing in the scent of her shampoo.
"God you guys are so gross, I love you!" Phoebe calls, tugging Lucy off the elevator.
Julien pulls your arms tighter around her waist as she leans up to whisper in your ear.
"I'm going to fuck you so good, baby." She presses a kiss to your cheek. Your face flushing bright red, all the heat and intensity that had cooled with being around her boys, came back ten fold. You turn her around in your arms so she's facing you, She's already smiling up at you.
"Jay, Please.." You whine, leaning back into the wall of the elevator. Julien just continues to smile at you, pressing kisses to your neck that cause your heart rate to go up. The feeling of her soft lips as she travels down to your collar bones, has you melting into her.
The elevator opens on your floor, Julien immediately tugging you out and towards your shared room. As you start searching your pockets for the room key, Julien presses you into the door. She's kissing you brutally, biting your lip before sliding her tongue into your mouth. It's hot and the weight of her tongue in your mouth is a feeling you'll never get tired of. Her hands run down your back, pulling your hips toward her. She slots her thigh between yours, pressing it up against your most sensitive place. Your positively aching for her, throwing your head back against the wall.
Julien slides the room key out of your pocket, kissing you deeply one last time before opening the door.
"Jay.." you whine, missing her body already. Julien pouts at you mockingly, before kissing you again. She pulls you into the room, locking the door behind you. She licks her way into your mouth, the second the lock clicks into place. You whine against her lips, Julien leading you to the bed.
She sits you on the edge of the bed, and grabs the ends of your shirt pulling it over your head. You smile shyly at the look on her face, you're left wearing just your lace bra. She traces her finger along your collar bone, biting her lower lip.
"I love you, Baby." Julien says walking into the closet and grabbing her suitcase. You watch her with a confused expression on your face as she carries the bag over to the bed. She smiles at the look on your face, before unzipping the bag and revealing the rainbow strap on.
Julien smirks at the look on your face, and brings it up to your lips. You place a kiss on the tip, knowing that's what she wanted you to do.
"That's my good girl, so you want me fuck you so good?" She asks you, placing the strap on the bed next to you and pulling off her tank top. You moan at the sight of her in just her sports bra, she jokingly flexes her arms. You knew she had been trying to make you laugh but your mouth is hanging open, even after two years of being with her you'll never get over how sexy she is. Julien keeps eye contact with you as she pops the button on her jeans, pulling them down her muscular legs. As you watch her you push your skirt down your legs, spreading your thighs and slowly massaging your clit through your still soaked panties. Julien smirks at the sight of the hickeys she bit into your thighs earlier.
You moan at the look on her face, adding more pressure to your clit. Julien walks over to the bed, moving your hand away and using both hands she pulls down your panties.
"Fuck Princess, you're so perfect." Julien says, pulling your legs over her shoulders and licking a flat stripe over your wet folds. She runs her tongue in between your folds, lapping up the wetness that had gathered since she took care of you at the club.
"Jay," You moan, your fingers digging into her hair, pushing her face more into you. You feel her moan against you, she's fucking her tongue into you, her nose pressing into your clit.
She's holding onto your hips with such force, you know you'll have bruises in the morning. Julien is eating you out like this is her last meal and you're gasping and moaning out her name.
"Julien," You gasp out, feeling your legs start to shake, and tense up. Your stomach starting to tighten, you feel your eyes start to roll back in your head.
Julien keeps her pace up, the intensity of your orgasm crashing through you. You black out for a moment, when your coherent again Julien is still between your legs. The slurping sound of her drinking up your cum, making you feel light headed again with need.
Julien presses kisses to your hip bones, making her way up your body. She stops at your breasts that are still in your bra, you moan as she skillfully unclips it with one hand. Her mouth instantly finds your nipples, biting and sucking them.
She presses your breasts together, briefly burying her face between them. Julien licks over your nipple sucking it into her mouth again, her other hand pinching and massaging the other.
When she pulls away from you, a thick string of saliva attaches her mouth to your hardened peak. That's the final straw for you, you pull her up to kiss you roughly moaning at the taste of you in her mouth.
"Julien, please," You moan into her mouth, Pulling her sports bra up and over her head.
Pulling her back to you, and licking your way into her mouth. You move your hands down to her breasts, massaging them before gently dragging your thumbs over her hardened nipples. Juliens hips jerk into yours, both of you gasping at the added pressure. You push her briefs down her legs, grinding your hips together.
"Oh fuck," Julien groans into your mouth, roughly grinding your hips together. She moved slightly so you're both grinding into the others hip bone, your hands are still playing with her newly exposed breast.
She picks up her pace, grinding down harder. You roll her over, straddling her waist . The view of her under you, hair spilling out onto the pillow underneath her. It's almost too much, and you genuinely think you could come from the sight alone.
You kiss her roughly, moaning into her mouth and kissing your way down her neck. You lick and suck over her tattoos, kissing along her collarbones and making your way down to her chest. You groan against her breasts, licking her hard nipples before sucking on them. You know you're drooling on them at this point but it's clear that neither of you mind.
You continue kissing down her stomach, finally getting to her mound. You spread her thighs giving yourself more room between her legs.
You let the drool from your mouth drip onto her soaked pussy, letting it pool on her already wet folds. Julien's panting in anticipation above you, and that's enough for you to dive in. You spread her open with one hand and suck her clit into your mouth.
Your other hand travels down to her soaked entrance, pumping two fingers into her. Julien arches off the bed, her hands forcing you harder against her.
You can tell Julien is still worked up from the car ride to the hotel. You continue to lap and suck on her clit, adding a third finger into her. She's so warm and wet, and tastes so good. You can't contain yourself, you suck harder and fuck your fingers in deeper. You want to drown yourself between her delicious thighs.
"Uh Y/N, Baby!" Julien moans holding you in place and grinding against your face as you pump your fingers into her. You feel her starting to shake and clench around you.
You look up at her, moaning at the sight. Her eyes are closed, forehead creased in pleasure. Her whole body tensing up, You feel her cum around your fingers. You continue fucking them in and out of her, letting her ride it out. You remove your fingers and let your tongue take over, lapping and sucking to clean her up. Julien pulls you back up to her mouth, kissing you deeply and moaning at the taste.
She flips you onto your back, still roughly kissing you. She only pulls away, when she's gotten into a straddling position over you. You moan when she reaches for the strap on, moving off of you to stand up.
You watch her put on the harness, before attaching the dildo. You bite your lip, trying to contain how incredibly turned on you are. Julien notices, you watch her lick her hand moving down to pump the strap, coating it in her saliva.
"Fuck Jay.." You groan, your hand going to massage your clit. Julien slaps your hand away, moving onto the bed and going to kneel between your legs.
She traces the tip up and down along your opening, gathering your wetness on the dildo. She pushes the hair out of your face, pressing a sweet kiss to your lips.
Julien pushes into you, hardly giving you time to adjust before she starts fucking you deep and hard. She grabs your hips, pushing you hard into the mattress. You moan out her name, nails dragging down her back.
Julien pulls one of your legs over her shoulder, going deeper. She leans down kissing you roughly, her tongue fighting with yours for dominance.
Julien groans when she hears the sound of how wet you are. Her thrusts keeping steady , as you think your loosing your mind over how good it feels. She pulls out of you to help you turn over, before she thrusts back into you. The pleasure is so intense, the knot in your stomach getting tighter and tighter.
"Julien, I can't-" you start to say but cut yourself off with another moan. Julien speeds up her thrusts reaching around you to massage your clit.
"You can take it," Julien pants into your ear, Thrusting harder if that's even possible. "That's my good girl," She says pulling you up by your hair, so she can mouth along your neck.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck" You whine out in time with her thrusts. Julien bites down on your shoulder, and you feel your body start to shake with how intense the pleasure is.
"C'mon princess, you can take it," Julien says into your ear, licking along your neck. Her thrusts are going deeper than you thought possible, your whole body tensing up. You're clinging onto her hard, tears spilling down your cheeks, babbling incoherently.
"Jay, Uh, Daddy!" you scream out coming harshly, you completely pass out against her. You squirt all over the comforter, body going limp.
Julien pulls out of you, quickly undoing the harness with one hand. She gently pulls you into her arms, pushing the comforter off of the bed, as she lays you down.
Julien goes into the attached bathroom, and comes back with a washcloth and starts to clean up your cum covered thighs. She lays you on top of her, running her hands soothingly over your body and whispering sweet nothings in to your hair.
"Jay?" You question finally coming to. Julien's pressing kisses onto your forehead, treating you as if you're made of glass.
"Hi princess," Julien whispers, pushing your hair out of your face.
"That was-" You start to say, but Julien cuts you off.
"You were so good for me, baby. You did so fucking good." Julien kisses you gently, and intensely. You moan into the kiss, pressing yourself closer to her for warmth.
"Where's the comforter?" you ask against her lips, still feeling foggy from your orgasm.
"You came all over it, it was so wet we couldn't use it." Julien says stroking your face gently.
"I'm sorry," You whisper, reaching up to kiss her again.
"There is nothing to apologize for angel," Julien smiles, pulling you closer to her. You wrap both legs around her toned waist, kissing her again as she reaches over you to turn out the lights.
"Jay?" You whisper into the now dark room. You feel her shift against you so you're laying with her head on your chest.
"Yes," You feel her smile against you.
"Did I call you daddy?" You whisper cringing at yourself.
"You sure did," She smiles, biting gently against your breast teasingly.
"I'm so embarrassed.." You say, burying your face into the pillow.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't do that, I love that I fucked you so good you called me daddy," She says pulling you from the pillow.
"It's so sexy, I almost came from that alone." Julien whispers into your ear, biting down softly on your lobe.
"I love you, Jay" You whisper into the dark after a minute.
"I love you more, Baby" Julien whispers back, running her hands soothingly along your thighs.

Speak Now Timeline
This is a very long post that puts all the songs on Speak Now in order of Taylor creating them. I’ve also added a few other songs she wrote while writing Speak Now and quotes from Taylor and her collaborators talking about her process.
If you don't want to read all that, check out this playlist of the album in order or this playlist of her entire discography.
Due to a surprising amount of digital decay and her life not being highly documented yet, exact dates are bit harder to come by then they are with following albums, but you can still find a few! I’ve added this color coded scale of how sure I am of the date:
Confirmed: There is some type of official source for the date
Inferring: Nobody has officially said “This is when we wrote it,” but everything points to that date
Speculation: This date is based off pure vibes and guesswork and is highly likely to change.
Unknown: All that is known is the year (from the US Copyright Offices)
More notes: I will probably be editing it as information about vault songs and new details about old songs get come out, so it probably won’t be finished until July, so check back in with this post and/or follow me if you want updates. Most tweet dates come from crawling through the wayback machine, but if you want further sourcing, feel free me an ask/dm.
Without further ado...
Sparks Fly: Late 2006 (Inferring)
Taylor opened up for Jake Owen on October 31, 2006 In Portland, Oregon (the secret message for the song), and wrote Sparks Fly about the experience shortly after. I’ve seen a few second hand sources say she wrote it on the airplane ride back to Nashville later that same night, but I can’t find Taylor herself saying that, so it might just be an old fandom legend, or the source has been lost to digital decay, or I just haven’t looked hard enough. She first performs the song in May 29, 2007.
Haunted: 2009 (Unknown)
Taylor: "Haunted" is about the moment that you realize the person you're in love with is drifting and fading fast. And you don't know what to do, but in that period of time, in that phase of love, where it's fading out, time moves so slowly. Everything hinges on what that last text message said, and you're realizing that he's kind of falling out of love. That's a really heartbreaking and tragic thing to go through, because the whole time you're trying to tell yourself it's not happening. I went through this, and I ended up waking up in the middle of the night and writing this song about it.
February 17, 2009: Tweets "It's 3:58 am in London.. And I accidentally fell asleep at 6:30 pm, so now I'm wide awake and have no idea what to do. Write a song?"
It’s possible that this was what Taylor was referring to when she said she “ended up waking up in the middle of the night and writing [Haunted]”, but it’s also very possible that Taylor didn’t write a song on February 17, and waking up in the middle of the night and writing a song is not a rare occurrence in Taylor’s life, so one tweet doesn’t really prove anything.
March 13, 2009: Tweets "A day off in Sydney. Drove two hours out of the city and spent the day on the beach. Wrote a chorus you'll hear on the next record. :)"
Pure speculation, but I think she was working on Mr. Perfectly Fine. It was created in 2009, and in my opinion, of the possible songs it has the most notable chorus.
March 19, 2009: Posts on Myspace “I’m wiped out. I’ve been in the studio all day ( I know, I know.. We JUST put out a new album. I think I have a problem, I cannot stop writing songs.) It’s so much fun knowing that you can take your time, because you have like a year and a half to make something you’re really proud of. I love recording a few songs, waiting a few months, recording a few more.. Instead of devoting a few weeks to “record the album” and then it’s just done. I like dragging it out, that way you can be meticulous about every detail. Daydream about different ways to put the songs together, and then take them apart. I’m pretty obsessed with the whole process. So needless to say, it was good to be back in the studio with my redheaded producer who I missed terribly.”
If This Was A Movie: April 2009 (Inferring)
Taylor has literally never talked about this song, but April would be six months after and Joe Jonas broke up in late September/early October 2008.
April 24, 2009: Taylor plays in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and possibly writes a song: "I'd get my best ideas at 3:00 AM in Arkansas, and didn't have a co-writer around and I'd just finish it. And that would happen again in New York [likely Enchanted], that would happen again in Boston [likely Long Live], that would happen again in Nashville." (x)
May 23, 2009: Taylor records Half Of My Heart with John Mayer
On March 1, 2009: John Mayer tweeted: “Waking up to this song idea that won’t leave my head. 3 days straight now. That means it’s good enough to finish. It’s called Half of My Heart and I want to sing it with Taylor Swift. She would make a killer Stevie Nicks in contrast to my Tom Petty of a song.” On May 23, John Mayer tweeted "I couldn't get Taylor Swift on my record so I found the world's greatest impersonator, Laura Jacksheimer" with a picture of Taylor.
Superman: Spring 2009 (Speculation)
This could have been written any time in 2009, but due to it's general sound and the following quote, I’d guess it was written sometime in spring, when her and John Mayer first started working together. Taylor: “This was a guy that I was sort of enamored with, as usual. This song got its title by something that I just kinda said randomly in conversation. He walked out of the room, I looked over at one of my friends and said, ‘Man, It’s just like watching Superman fly away.’”
May 29, 2009: Posts on Myspace “Tomorrow, after the performance on the Today show, I’ll fly back to Nashville and record a lot of new songs I’ve written in the last few weeks. I’m really excited about that.” (She also posts "Tonight I went shopping at Top Shop in New York with the band. I got purple shoes. I’m really excited about the purple shoes, and I just needed to tell someone. I got purple shoes. Ok. That’s done." Which. If I had a nickel for everytime Taylor teased her new album by posting about shoe colors I'd have two nickels, which isnt a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.)
June 4, 2009: Posts on Facebook "In the studio. I don't know whose computer I'm using. Pssh.. Such a rebel right now.."
June 9, 2009: Tweets (about recording Thug Story) "If I said I was in the studio with T-Pain, would you believe me?"
Better Than Revenge and Let’s Go (Battle): June 2009 (Inferring)
These were probably written sometime between June 12, when the Jonas Brothers released “Much Better”, and July 1, when Taylor posted on Myspace: “What else is new.. Recording a bunch of new songs. Lots of new things to write about…..”
Last Kiss: 2009 (Unknown)
Taylor: "The song "Last Kiss" is sort of like a letter to somebody. You say all of these desperate, hopeless feelings that you have after a breakup. Going through a breakup you feel all of these different things. You feel anger, and you feel confusion, and frustration. Then there is the absolute sadness. The sadness of losing this person, losing all the memories, and the hopes you had for the future. There are times when you have this moment of truth where you just admit to yourself that you miss all these things. When I was in one of those moments I wrote this song."
July 22, 2009: Tweets "Hanging with my producer Nathan, discussing the next adventure" and then in a separate tweet "...album #3."
Never Grow Up: Fall 2009 (Speculation)
Lover Diary Nathan Chapman: "The song 'Never Grow Up' is just she singing and I on acoustic guitar. We recorded ourselves live. That song probably happened in two hours." This could’ve been written at any time in 2009, but I put it here because she bought her Nashville apartment sometime before October.
September 8, 2009: Tweeted "Last night in nash before heading out tomorrow for 4 shows, then VMA's. But right now I can't put the guitar down."
September 13, 2009: VMAs Incident
Enchanted: September 15, 2009 (Confirmed)
On September 15, Taylor attended an Owl City Concert in New York Taylor: "It was about this guy that I met in New York City, and I had talked to him on email or something before, but I had never met him. And meeting him, it was this overwhelming feeling of: I really hope that you're not in love with somebody. And the whole entire way home, I remember the glittery New York City buildings passing by, and then just sitting there thinking, am I ever going to talk to this person again? And that pining away for a romance that may never even happen, but all you have is this hope that it could, and the fear that it never will. I started writing that in the hotel room when I got back. Because it just was this positive, wistful feeling of: I hope you understand just how much I loved meeting you. I hope that you know that meeting you was not something that I took lightly, or just in passing. And I think my favorite part of that song is the part where, in the bridge, it goes to sort of a stream of consciousness of ‘Please don't be in love with someone else/Please don't have somebody waiting on you.' Because at that moment, that's exactly what my thoughts were. And it feels good to write exactly what your thoughts were in a certain moment.”
September 26, 2009: Taylor plays in Little Rock, Arkansas, and possibly writes a song: "I'd get my best ideas at 3:00 AM in Arkansas, and didn't have a co-writer around and I'd just finish it. And that would happen again in New York [Enchanted & Back To December], that would happen again in Boston [Long Live], that would happen again in Nashville." (x)
October 17, 2009: Tweets "Travis: you look so out of it. Me: I'm writing a song in my head. Travis: oh, I apologize. I didn't realize you were working."
November 30, 2009: Tweets "If I had a dime for every time my producer and I blurt out the same thing at the same time, followed by an awkward, uncoordinated high five..."
Ours: December 6, 2009 (Inferring)
Myspace Post on December 6: “I just got back to Nashville this morning after being in LA all week. Today I was out and about and in the studio all day” Taylor: "I wrote this when I was about to turn 20. I was in a relationship I knew people wouldn't approve of, and it was just a matter of time before everyone found out. When you're first getting to know someone, it's a fragile time, and then you add newspapers and magazine covers and it can get kind of rough. I wanted to have this song to play for him when it got difficult. Singing it for him was one of the sweetest moments I can remember."
December 22, 2009: Tweets "I was writing a song and my pen fell into the piano. Still trying to figure out if I should do anything about this."
January 2010: Starts polishing up the demos made in 2009 into fully produced tracks
Billboard: "Swift and Chapman had begun recording new songs almost as soon as "Fearless" was released. The two cut demos in his basement studio and would only take those songs to larger facilities once they felt they had an emotional foundation in the basic tracks. Still, it wasn’t until early 2010 when the album truly began to coalesce." Nathan Chapman: "We stripped it down and made the demos first. Taylor came to my studio and I played all the instruments on the demos, and because I have a good vocal booth, her demo vocals ended up being the vocals you hear on the record. After finishing the demos, we went out to different studios, and tried different combinations of engineers and musicians to replace some of the elements of my demos, mostly the programmed drums, and to do additional overdubs. [...] A pop artist would probably release what we'd done after five hours, but country artists don't want to hear programmed drums, they don't want to hear fake stuff. So once we had recorded the demos, we would book whatever studio we wanted for each song, to replace the drums, in many cases the bass, and to add whatever overdubs we envisioned, like fiddle, keyboards, percussion and strings. After we got the demos right, we opened it up and allowed ourselves to spend money and cut a big record." Taylor tweets on January 11: "Studio-ness with all the same boys who played on Fearless" and on January 13: "More recording. So excited. So excited. So excited. See, I said that three times. Once for every album we've made in this studio."
January 13, 2010: Posts on Myspace “Thank you January. I have had this month off. I have walked on snow-covered grass and discovered new coffee shops and laughed hysterically with friends about things that probably weren’t technically funny. I’ve written songs on napkins and sat at a giant table with my whole family on my mother’s birthday, all of us in one place for the first time in too long. I’ve gotten to take what has happened to me and process it to my full capability, and celebrate it the way it deserved to be celebrated. I’ve made new music. I’ve gone over the memories and jumped up and down with my producer and floated around with nothing on my schedule other than just appreciating what my life has somehow turned into. [...] Getting back in the studio with the same guys I trust and know and love.. (right, the pointing one: my producer Nathan Chapman) (Left, the waving one: Bass extraorinaire, Tim Marks. Clearly marked on his road case.) [...] Nick Buddha is in charge of the drums.”
February 22, 2010: Posts on Myspace "I’ve been writing lots of songs"
February 13, 2010: Writes in her diary "I’ve been obsessing over the new album. I always do that until it’s just right. I don’t know if I have the formula just right for this one yet. I know there are great songs. I just need to figure out the strands that bond them together into a great album. And I will obsess until it’s there. This album, any album, is the next 2 years of my life. It has to be more than amazing. It has to be great enough to keep my attention for 2 years."
Mine: March 10-12 2010 (Inferring)
Taylor (above interview, at 5:17): "I wrote Mine somewhere on the road, I think in Texas, actually." Nathan Chapman: "The demo for 'Mine' apparently took less than five hours to record, and sounded, according to Chapman, "almost identical to the record. After that we worked on the track for another four months, off and on, and spent $30,000 to make sure it sounded perfect in the real world."" Taylor: "This song is the first single because it has this…there was this moment between Nathan and I, my producer, when I brought this song in and when we made this demo in one day in his basement and we just kinda looked at each other and we were like, "This is it. This is the one. All of the times that I've had "The Moment" with songs of "This is the one," it's been a good call, so I'm hoping for the best on this one. Wish me luck." Scott Borchetta: "Mine" was a turning point in the album’s development. Swift and Chapman had begun recording new songs almost as soon as "Fearless" was released. The two cut demos in his basement studio and would only take those songs to larger facilities once they felt they had an emotional foundation in the basic tracks. Still, it wasn’t until early 2010 when the album truly began to coalesce. Swift presented "Mine" to Borchetta in his office [...] "We probably played that song four or five times," Borchetta recalls. "I’m jumping around playing air guitar, she’s singing the song back to me, and it was just one of those crazy, fun, Taylor teen-age moments."
March 13, 2010: Taylor records Mine, brings it to Scott Borchetta, and says she’s done with TS3
Scott Borchetta: "I said, ‘Keep going,’ [...] She kind of looked at me like, ‘You’re challenging me.’ And I said, ‘Yeah. You’ve found true north here. Keep going.’ " Taylor: “During Speak Now, when I went to (label head) Scott Borchetta and said, 'The album’s finished,’ he said, 'No, it’s not – you need to keep writing.’” (Right after playing in Texas, Taylor leaves for a vacation in the Bahamas, meaning Taylor likely had about a day in Nashville between the two trips).
Innocent: Late March 2010 (Inferring)
Billboard: “It was some time in the period after that challenge — between February and June — that Swift wrote “Innocent,” her response to the Kanye West incident.” Taylor: “Some songs take 30 minutes to write, and some take six months, which was the case with “Innocent.” When things affect me intensely and really hit me hard, it can take a while to figure out what I think about it and what to say about it.” (March would be just over 6 months since the VMAs).
March 24, 2010: Taylor goes lunch with Taylor Lautner and both of their publicists, inspiring Back To December.
Taylor: Swift says she based the song on a conversation she had with the guy about whom she's singing. "It's not loosely based," she says. "It's almost word-for-word. It is a song and a conversation that needed to happen, because I don't want to hurt people. If you unintentionally do so, you've got to make that better."
Speak Now: Early April, 2010 (Inferring)
On April 3, Taylor attended the wedding of Josh Farro as Hayley Williams (who is Josh's ex) plus one. That day she also tweeted: ""Nathan you smell really good! Is that a new cologne?" "Thanks! Actually it's a two in one shampoo and soap. From Dial." My producer rules." implying she was in the studio. The conversation below could have happened any day after the VMA awards in September, when Hayley first reached out to Taylor, but I think Taylor probably wrote the song fairly close to naming the album after it. Taylor: "This song was inspired by one of my friends who was telling me about her childhood sweetheart, crush guy. They were kind of together in high school and went their separate ways, and it was kind of understood that they were gonna get back together. Then, she one day comes in and tells me he's getting married. He had met this girl who was just this mean person who made him completely stop talking to all of his friends, cut off his family, had him like so completely isolated. And I just, kind of randomly, was like, "So, you gonna speak now?" She was like, "What do you mean?" And I was like "Oh, you know, like storm the church, speak now or forever hold your peace? I'll go with you. I'll play guitar. It would be great." She was just kind of laughing, and later on I just was wrapping my mind around that idea of how tragic it would be if someone you loved was marrying somebody else. Later I had a dream about one of my ex-boyfriends getting married, and it just all came together that I needed to write this song about interrupting a wedding. For me, I like to think of it as good versus evil, and this girl is so completely painted as the evil one. So this is "Speak Now.""
April 13, 2010: Names TS3 Speak Now
Lover Diaries: "So I’ve been obsessing over the new record to the point where it’s all I can focus on. I’m majorly stressed and borderline losing it, with all these lists and chronic dissatisfaction. Perfectionist-ness. I keep growing tired of songs because I know I’ve raised the bar and I can beat half the songs. Scott and I had lunch the other day. We were talking about the record and I had this epiphany. I didn’t talk in interviews about how I felt about much of what has happened in the last 2 years. I’ve been silent about so much that I’m saying on this album. It’s time to Speak Now. Scott freaked out. He loved it. We have a title, ladies and gentlemen!" Scott Borchetta: ""At one point, the record was not called ‘Speak Now.’ It was called ‘Enchanted,’ [...] We were at lunch, and she had played me a bunch of the new songs. I looked at her and I’m like, ‘Taylor, this record isn’t about fairy tales and high school anymore. That’s not where you’re at. I don’t think the record should be called "Enchanted."’” Swift excused herself from the table at that point. By the time she came back, she had the "Speak Now" title"
Dear John: Spring 2010 (Speculation)
This was likely written sometime after February 2010 (Taylor implies she's single in her vlog and her diary). Beyond that, it could have been anytime between February and June 2010.
Brief Interruption: The next two songs (Back to December and Mean) are going to use quotes from this interview that @1989worldtour found. If you've already listened to the interview attached to the Mine section, then it's the same interview
Back To December: Early May, 2010 (Inferring)
Taylor (above interview, at 5:12): "Back to December was written in New York City. Taylor was in New York city from May 3-5, and May 12-15 2010. she was not photographed in New York any other time in early 2010, and given her busy touring schedule, I doubt she was in New York at another time. USA TODAY: “Swift says she based the song on a conversation she had with the guy about whom she's singing. "It's not loosely based," she says. "It's almost word-for-word. It is a song and a conversation that needed to happen, because I don't want to hurt people. If you unintentionally do so, you've got to make that better."”
Mean: May 29, 2010 (Speculation)
Taylor (above interview, about 6 minutes in): "I started this song called Mean on my, like sitting on my kitchen counter, just playing it, and then, you know, took a plane and flew to the venue where we were gonna play that night and finished it in the dressing room." Now, this may be a too literal interpretation of "took a plane and flew to the venue where we were gonna play that night," but if we want to theorize: the only tour date (that Taylor could've conceivably written Mean during) without another show right before or after it was in Baton Rogue on May 29, 2010.
Long Live: June 2010 (Confirmed)
Lover Diary She likely wrote this around June 5, when she ended the Fearless Tour at Gillette Stadium (Wikipedia counts two festivals as being part of the Fearless Tour but Taylor doesn't, so I'm going with her opinion), since she said that she wrote a song for Speak Now in Boston (which is the closest major city to Gillette)
The Story Of Us: June 9-16, 2010 (Confirmed)
Taylor attended the CMT Awards (Which goes on to be the secret message for The Story Of Us) on June 9 and was sat very close to John Mayer. Taylor: "The people closest to me are used to me deserting a conversation and bolting into some corner of the room with my phone out, hunched over, singing some melody or lyric or hook into my phone. I wrote “The Story of Us” about running into an ex at an awards show, and I came home and sat down at a kitchen table and told my mom, “I felt like I was standing alone in a crowded room.” She tried to console me, but I was gone at that point." Lover Diary: "So I’ve been a little studio rat since the tour ended [...] Ever since, I wake up to my cell phone alarm around 9:30 each morning. Throw on a sundress, skip make up, tie my hair in a messy side braid, and head out the door with no shoes on. Because the only walking outside I’ll be doing is from my house to my car, then from my car, three steps to Nathan’s basement studio. [...] I worked on a song for a few days, then basically finished it in the car on the way to Nathan’s this morning. It. Is. So. Good. And I can safely say I am DONE writing this record!! This song is up-tempo, and hooky and sort of torn-sounding … like this horrible stressed confusion that comes on when you knew the person you’re pining away for is in the room. And for some reason, there are these invisible walls keeping things from being ok. So you’re not fine. And they’re not fine. And I’m so happy I wrote that song!! Footage of Taylor working on TSOU
June 30, 2010: Taylor tweets “@amosjheller is SLAYING a bass part in the studio right now. http://twitpic.com/21am7t”
Footage Nathan Chapman: “We tried several bassists until we had a bass part that worked, which was played by Amos Heller, of Taylor's live band. In Nashville, it's rare for a road musician to be on the record, but he earned his way into this record by kicking ass. In fact, all Taylor's road musicians played some parts on the album, which was important for me and her.”
July 15, 2010: The orchestra for Back To December and Haunted are recorded (footage here, same outfit as these candids)
Taylor (talking about Haunted): “I wanted the music and the orchestration to reflect the intensity of the emotion the song is about, so we recorded strings with Paul Buckmaster at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. It was an amazing experience - recording this entire big, live string section that I think in the end really captured the intense, chaotic feeling of confusion I was looking for."
And that's all for this timeline! Check out my others:

Jimmy's Customs ordeal and Iskall's surprise
Transcript under the cut
Cleo: Jimmy got stopped at US Customs, is that what you're saying JT? Joe: Oh--yeah, see, that's the thing, so, stuff like that I don't know how much the public knows, uh-- Cleo: Well this is from-this is from my chat, so, like--and Jimmy's Jimmy, Jimmy'll tell people. (laughs) Joe: Yeah yeah yeah, so, um, yeah, he definitely did. Uh--and he was the one that knew the least about what we were doing? Yknow? (Cleo cackles) At least Martyn had done it before, um. But like, yeah, they were--they were trying to good cop/bad cop him, and, uh, I don't know if you know Stage? She's one of the people who works for Gamer's Outreach who helped organize this-- Cleo: I--interacted with them, but I don't know them. Joe: So, yeah, Stage was saying that like, uh, that Customs calls, and is like, hey, we have somebody in holding, right now, that said that you would vouch for them. And she's like, well, I know a lot of people coming into the country cause I'm organizing a charity event, can you tell me their name? And they're like, no. You have to--you have to vouch for them. Joe: And-and-and Stage is just like, well, okay, I could give you a list of all of the foreigners coming in, or I could just tell you that I vouch for this person hoping that it's one of them and not somebody else lying because they know I have a bunch of people coming in, and uh, the Customs people were like, yeah that's good enough. (Cleo starts giggling) It's like, wait, really? That's good enough?! Okay-- Cleo: Wow, okay--(Cleo and Joe laugh) Joe: Like, like, they never said--I don't know Jimmy's actual name, like, um, oh, I will say-- Cleo: It is Jimmy. Joe: I will say a highlight of the trip--oh, but they didn't say like, 'we had James--' Cleo: --oh yeah-- Joe: 'so-and-so here.' Y'know, blah blah blah. Um. But like, yeah, one of the highlights of the trip was, uh, we were at like, a bar, or a restaurant or something and I was signing the check--y'know, you get a credit card thing, you sign it or whatever--and I was signing the slip, and Iskall just looks at me--looks at me and goes, "your name is really Joe Hills?!" And I'm like, yes-- Cleo: Iskall! Joe, through laughter: It just, it didn't occur to him--it didn't occur to him! Cleo: Iskall man, (wheezes) Is it news to him that you live in Nashville, Tennessee, is the question. Joe: I don't know. "Nashville, that's in America!"

I know, it's (VERY, im so sorry) delayed, this has been sitting in my drafts since the day his trade was announced and i just got around to finishing it up. enjoy!
"Jamie," Is all I can think to respond to my brothers words. "I can't just move to Pennsylvania, you know that. I have three more years left of schooling."
You were supposed to have 3 more years on your contract, I want to add, but I know that's not what he needs right now. He was just traded away from his home with no warning, he doesn't need his little sister giving him a hard time.
"I know, trust me I know. I was so focused on getting my deal with the Ducks because of that. But some kid that was supposed to go to Philly had a change of plans and now I have to be on a plane there from Nashville at 5 in the morning."
"You don't even get to play against the Predators?" I ask, not realizing just how sudden this was all about to happen. "Do you need me to send you things? God I didn't realize this would all be so sudden."
"Kid, let's worry about what I need in a minute, I need to talk to you about you, the apartment, all of that." Oh shit. I can't afford this place. "I talked to Trevor, and he and I think you should move in with him."
"You... what?"
"I-"
"No, I heard you," I interrupt, not even letting him get two words in. "Why on earth is that your first thought? Let me have my sister move out of the apartment we've been living in and in with my best friend? Didn't Trevor literally move out because he wanted more space?"
"I know, and he knows that, but you're my little sister, I don't like the idea of you just finding some random roommate. And Trev promised that he'd look after you," Jamie explains, and I don't want to give him more grief than necessary today of all days, "I just need to know you're being looked after if I'm going to be on the east coast."
"Have you already talked to Trevor about this?"
"He offered."
Oh fuck me.
Tumblr media
"Oh, woah," Are the first words out of Trevor's mouth when he walks in the door, two weeks and change after Jamie's move. After my moving in.
"I promise I tried not to touch anything, I just-"
"No, I told you that you should make yourself at home," He reminds, dropping his gear by the door. "It's just, I don't know, feels more homey in here than when I left."
"It's probably because you got so used to living with me and JD that seeing my things around reminds you," I offer, trying to ignore the way he's looking at me like the entire reason this place feels like home is me. "Speaking of my brother, when you offered this little deal to him did you happen to mention that you'd been sleeping with said little sister for months before you moved out?"
I probably should have seen what he was doing when he started to distance himself from me and should have realized I had gotten too attached when it hurt for him to do so.
And I had been doing fine with getting over him until JD had this fantastic idea.
Now he's here, his look shifting from admiration to shock.
"Why- why would I tell Jimmy that?"
"You're basically boyfriends, I would have thought you'd tell him about your torrid affair," I can't help the joke slipping, only earning myself an eye roll as he throws himself on the couch, landing by my feet and making the book on my lap nearly fall to the floor.
"You and everyone else need to stop thinking that we're boyfriends, you know better than any of us that I am not into guys," He returns, pointing at me like he's trying to prove his point.
Now I'm the one rolling my eyes. "Trev, the whole world knows you're into women, have you not seen the photos of you and that D'Amelio sister around? You're hot gossip on the internet."
I hate it.
"Oh God," He groans, head falling in his hands, and it's not the joking one I'm expecting, but genuine discomfort.
"Trev? You okay?" I'm already moving before I've finished asking, my book set aside as I move to his side, hand coming to caress the back of his neck, where his shaggy hair meets his hoodie.
I can't help but take a moment to hesitate, knowing that if he is with her like the tabloids say, I'm far too close to a gray area than I should be.
But it's Trevor. He helped JD move me into their apartment, after agreeing to me living with them in the first place.
He's always been there for me as long as JD and he have known each other, and I have always done my best to be there for him.
"It's the God damn media," is his whispered answer, shoulders slumping. "I can't be seen with a girl without being assumed to be with her, you know?"
"I can't say that I do," It's honest. Also very unhelpful. "You're sitting with the boring Drysdale, I have as much experience with the media as being photographed with you and JD."
His eyes rise up, looking at me for only a second before he's looking back down at his hands, ringing them. "You're not boring, Kate."
"You know what I mean-"
"No," He interrupts, eyes jumping up again, this time remaining on me. "You're not boring, you're normal in the best way. Why do you think I ended things?"
What?
"You deserve normal."
My hand stills on his neck, slowly sliding across his shoulder until it's back in my lap. "Trevor, what are you talking about? If this is because things aren't working with her and I'm suddenly around-"
"I was never with her!" He's yelling, moving to stand in the time it takes me to process his words and turning back on me, eyes wild. "We were in that photo because a mutual friend had a birthday and everyone ran with it!"
"Trev, you don't have to explain your dating life to me," I sound almost desperate, desperate in my desire to not hear about the women he's seen since our last night. My voice is the one who gets quiet now, "I'd really rather you not."
"You're not listening to me," Trev is nearly grunting, pausing to sit on the coffee table in front of my legs. "I haven't been seeing anyone else, it's why the photos piss me off. They have you thinking I'm out sleeping around," His hands rest on my knees, thumbs gently running over them. "You're not someone a person can just move on from, Kate."
"Trevor, you can't do this to me," There's that desperate tone again. "You broke off our arrangement. I was ready to become more and you were the one who said we'd have to just be friends, that I had to go back to being your best friend's little sister."
His thumbs dig in momentarily, the only thought coming to mind being when he last did that, hands slowly guiding my legs apart and -
No!
"Do you not know how much I've regretted every word of what I said?" He looks so genuine. He's Trev, of course he's being genuine.
"What made you change your mind?"
"The idea that you'd be moving to Philadelphia," There's no hesitation.
And I can't help but laugh. "Trevor Zegras, I have one year left of my undergrad and two of my masters. You can't have thought I'd really be uprooting my life," a smile comes back to his face for the first time since he walked in to see me on the couch.
"Are you laughing at me?" Is his falsely offended cry, making me laugh even harder. "How dare you!" His hands find my sides immediately, fingers moving in sync to tickle where he knows I'll feel it most.
His body has moved onto mine, my breathe leaving my lungs faster than they can refill as I wiggle.
"Trev! Trev! Get off of me, you goon!" He just smiles, propping himself up on his arms enough to pop back into a sitting position.
It's so soft, the look in his eyes.
"Give me another chance, please?" That's why he looks so soft.
He's scared.
But I am too. This has gotten more complicated than before.
"Trevor... this has gotten so much more complicated-"
"How?"
"What?" How could he possibly be asking how this could be more complicated.
He's smirking now. "It's actually less complicated. We're still roommates and I still want to be with you, only difference is your brother isn't on the other side of the door, keeping us quiet."
He's not wrong.
Now it's my turn to smile. "If we try this again, we're a couple. No casual sex."
"Deal," His smile is brighter than the lights at the stadium. "My terms were the same."
"And-"
"And? You want a kiss?" He supplies, and while it's not at all what I was going to say, I'm going to let him have this one.
So I nod.
He leans in.
And when our lips touch, it doesn't matter that he's my brother's best friend, or that I'm his best friend's little sister.
We're home.

You open for asks?... I'm tired of moving from one startup business idea to the next. I'm tired of all the hipster coffee shit. I just want to make something with my hands. Drinking straight up filter coffee. Somewhere in nature if possible. Can you help me out?
At mid-20s, aren't you a little young for a midlife crisis? But I can understand you very well. Starting the day by spending an hour in the bathroom styling yourself to look as unstyled as possible, then ordering a Flat White with almond milk and a sugar- and gluten-free croissant. And then spending four hours philosophizing with other equally important and unsuccessful people about why you actually deserve to knock Google, Facebook and the like off their thrones.
Tumblr media
Nevertheless, you order another Flat White and a croissant. But the coffee machine is broken. You can have a black coffee. Or a water. You take the coffee. The wifi doesn't work either. So you take a daily newspaper. But the only one available is The Tennessean. What are you supposed to do with the newspaper here in Seattle? Anyway, if that's the only option…
You start with the sports section. It's the only thing you're really interested in. But both the Titans and the Predators are a sad sight these days. You look around the cafe. All city slickers. You can't see those tattoos anymore. What are these sissy kids thinking? If you get a tattoo, you become a real guy? Probably not… Never was your thing. Costs a lot of money. The only decoration your muscles need are the hairs on them… And while we are on the subject of hair. Who actually tells people that what they call hairstyles is somehow pretty. Old Curt has been cutting your hair every two to three months since you were four years old. a good neat haircut.
You're getting tired of all this. Cap on your head and off to your pickup. Nashville's just too big for you, you've got to get out of here. Quickly pick up the bags of fertilizer and then back to the farm. Your old folks are probably waiting for you. And before it gets dark, you should take a look at the broken water pump.
Tumblr media
It's good to be out in the fresh air again. And to pump the good air into your lungs and muscles. And shit, tomorrow morning you'll finally look forward to a breakfast with fried eggs and bacon again, not that crap like the hippsters eat.
