Will Appleâs Liquid Glass UI Set a New Design Standard in Mobile UX?
Apple has consistently been at the forefront of innovation in user interface design, and its upcoming introduction of the Liquid Glass UI promises to be another game-changer. This cutting-edge technology could revolutionize the way users interact with their smartphones, offering a seamless and immersive experience like never before. But what exactly does the Liquid Glass UI offer, and in what ways could it reshape the landscape of smartphone design for the future?
What is Apple's Liquid Glass UI?
The Liquid Glass UI is made to be a dynamic, extremely responsive interface that combines glassy translucency, depth effects, and smooth animations. With smoother transitions and more engaging visuals, it threatens to provide a more intuitive and premium experience for iOS users.
Key Features of the Liquid Glass UI
Dynamic Depth & Visual Fluidity- Provides a more realistic, 3D sensation with layered content and responsive movement.
Glassmorphism Design Language- Continues Apple's past UI trends with semi-transparent panels, blurred backgrounds, and light refractions.
Context-Aware Interactions- Learned user behavior to offer smarter suggestions and contextually adaptive aspects.
Energy-Efficient Animation- Designed to consume less power yet still provide high-end visual effects, perfect for today's mobile devices.
Will It Set a New UX Standard?
The Liquid Glass UI might change how people interact with their mobile phones. If done right, it might not only shape Apple's environment but also make other Android OEMs and developers around the globe follow more immersive, cleaner, and responsive UI approaches.
Advantages for Users and Developers
Users: Enjoy a neater, more beautiful UI with better readability and intuitive interfaces.
Developers: Incentivized to create apps in sync with Apple's new visual language, leading to more engagement and UX consistency.
Challenges and Considerations
Performance on Older Devices: Higher visuals could require additional processing.
Design Over Functionality: Beauty has to be balanced with utility.
Accessibility: Visual effects have to continue being accessible to visually impaired users.
Conclusion
Apple's Liquid Glass UI may represent a substantial new step forward in mobile UX design. As everyone waits for formal word, designers and developers are already dreaming up its likely capability to set a new standard in aesthetic and practical design throughout the mobile tech world.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 in Black Titanium
Back in October I went to the Apple Store and bought myself the Apple Watch Ultra now I have had many Apple Watches since the beginning HOWEVER I've been waiting since Apple first announced the Apple Watch Ultra for one specific version Black Titanium.

When they finally released the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in this sleek finish, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Now, after wearing it for a few weeks, I can confidently say that the wait was more than worth it. I absolutely love it, and I won't be swapping it out anytime soon.

Design: Black Titanium Elegance
One of the main reasons I held out for the Black Titanium version is its distinctive, understated look. The deep black finish gives the watch a sleek, sophisticated feel that matches almost any outfit or occasion. Whether I'm heading out for a walk with the dog or attending a formal event, the Black Titanium offers that perfect balance of ruggedness and elegance. Itâs not too flashy, but it certainly catches the eye of those who appreciate fine design like myself.
The build quality is, as you'd expect from Apple, exceptional. The black titanium feels robust yet lightweight, making it comfortable to wear throughout the day. I also love how it resists scratches, keeping the watch looking fresh and new even after continuous use. The finish isn't just about aesthetics itâs durable.
Performance: Next-Level Features
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is much more than just a beautiful piece of tech. Itâs a powerhouse when it comes to features. From the enhanced brightness of the Retina display to the improved S9 chip, this watch performs like a dream. The always-on display is one of my favourite aspects because itâs so useful in everyday situations, and the Ultra 2 makes it even better with crisp details in all lighting conditions. Whether I'm using it for walks, GPS tracking, or just checking notifications, the responsiveness and smoothness of the watch are noticeable upgrades.
 Battery Life: Unmatched Longevity
Another standout feature of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the battery life. I mean I am typing this blog up at 4.05am and I have had it on my wrist since 11.30am and itâs only on 80%. One of the reasons I wanted the Ultra model in the first place was for its extended battery life, and the Ultra 2 does not disappoint. I can easily go days without having to charge it, even with heavy use. This is a game changer for someone like me, whoâs always on the go and doesnât want to be tied down by daily charging.Â

After years of being an Apple Watch user, I can confidently say that the Ultra 2 in Black Titanium is by far the best Iâve owned. It's not just a gadget; it feels like a part of my daily routine, enhancing everything from my walks to productivity. And letâs not forget how great it looks on my wrist. Itâs stylish enough for any setting, yet tough enough to handle whatever life throws at me.
I wonât be swapping this out anytime soon this is the one.Â

The more time passes, the more I feel like I was really born in the wrong era... I dream of simplicity, authentic relationships, of this innocence that we left behind. I do not aspire to perfection, or to the accumulation of material, only to sincere, spontaneous and true exchanges. Deep connections between humans. A world where kindness and empathy would be central values. But today, everything seems calculated, everyone uses and manipulates the other for their interests. People no longer dialogue to try to understand each other, they just want to impose their ideologies. All the current values ââput forward are not mine. Common sense also leaves the minds... I no longer recognize myself in the majority of my peers. Feeling so out of step is abused to the point of wondering if it is not me who is off the mark. In short, I also know that I am not alone in feeling all this and that is what keeps me going in all this ambient mess. But deep down I still have faith in humanity, that is the most important thing, surely not this year otherwise I would know. So if you are reading this message, know that there are others like you who love others, life, people, so let's see you next year. Because we are beautiful people happy New Year 2025

2024 Archive of Our Own Wrapped
Since @spicedrobot was kind enough to share this 2024 AO3 Wrapped template, I decided to fill it out as an excuse to talk about my writing attempts for the year. And because I didn't feel like stopping there, I have also taken inspiration from another wrapped template I found by dreputationera~ ^^
AO3 Username: Girly411
Total Kudos: 6
Comment Threads: 3
Bookmarks: 2
Total Subs: 4 (I'm counting this as fic subs, not user subs)
Word Count: 13,353
Total Hits: 180
This year, my AO3 account has seen the most activity since its creation in 2015 because I finally cross-posted my backlog of old FFN fics. Five of those fics were updated with new chapters that I had forgotten to post years ago when I actually wrote them, so after subtracting them from the word count I ended up with a pretty small but not insignificant number... because I'm a wordy bitch. uwu
Most Popular Fic In 2024: Stay Cool (It's Just A Kiss)
Hits: 36
Kudos: 2
Comments: 2
Bookmarks: 0
I won't even pretend to wonder why this, out of the three new fics I managed to post this year, got the most attention. It may be about my beloved Ichiban/Ryuu rareship, but that Io & Ryuu tag is no doubt pulling in curious readers! Chapter 2 will be done as soon as I can shake the words for one more scene out of my brain, but I'm just grateful that y'all are giving my ship a chance even if I'm still slow at writing it. ;;3;; <3
Fav Fic You Wrote In 2024: Into The Deep
Hits: 8
Kudos: 0
Comments: 0
Bookmarks: 0
While I love all three of the fics I wrote this year for different reasons, Into The Deep holds an even more special place in my heart simply for the childhood nostalgia I have for the Hidden Expedition series. I started writing it because I wanted to manage my expectations by writing something short for a basically nonexistent fandom and I succeeded at that! But I expected 0 hits and somehow there are (potentially) 8 people out there staring at me silently asdhklf please tell me your thoughts X'D
Most Written Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Most Written Category: Gen
Most Written Fandom: Boueibu and High School Musical are tied, marking two distinct and formative eras of my life that will remain a part of me forever
Most Written Relationships: Ryan Evans & Sharpay Evans (my fixation on their sibling relationship in high school really says so much about me) and Naruko Io/Zaou Ryuu (where would I be without my Boueibu ships truly)
Favorite Characters To Write: Ryan Evans, Sharpay Evans, and Original Characters top the charts from my high school era because I desperately needed someone to project onto and that hasn't changed! Nowadays, I'm not sure if I have a specific favorite character to write, but I do really love writing the Loveless (and other side characters) in my Boueibu fics~ <3
Favorite Additional Tags: Humor, Fluff, Romance, Friendship, and Crack seem to be the tags I'm most drawn to. Angst should probably be in there too because that accounts for a lot of what I write! XD
Favorite Dialogue Snippet/Paragraph You Wrote: Truthfully, most of that can be found in this tag game here, but this part of A Rose's Thorns still makes my heart wibble. ;;w;;
Chizuru let her fingers find their way into the hair at the nape of his neck as she thought it through. He would need a trim soon and she was quite good with a pair of scissors. His face and voice were kind, and his heart was strong. It would be nice to come home to him. Someday.
WIP Ideas For Next Year: There is a mountain of old WIPs sitting in my archive that I plan to (hopefully) chip away at, especially my rareship fics! Boueibu is still a pretty big focus for me because I have so much left unfinished (and new ideas crawling into my brain all the time), but maybe I will manage to dip my fingers into some other fandoms as well. Goodness knows I also have so many WIPs hanging from FFN too. o.o'
What You Learned From Writing This Year: My 2017 burnout may have taken a huge toll on me, but the ability to write still lies deep within my brain. Having an ample supply of WIPs to rework/continue has been crucial to getting me back into the habit as long as I have the health/energy to stick with the simple method that I know has always worked for me (yet every time I'm still surprised):
1) write at least one sentence a day, it doesn't even have to be good or a complete thought meant to be part of the same scene, it's just practice and the rest will come together later
2) write it bad, write it the worst it's ever been written, and then rework it later with fresh eyes, just get SOMETHING out of the brain and onto the page
3) writing is fun, just do whatever sparks joy, you make the rules uwu
I'm also a lot lonelier than I ever was at any other point in my writing journey. Many things have changed in my life and I have less people (and animal companions) around me to share my enthusiasm with now. I have to learn how to cope with that because it's been very hard, especially when the larger fandom culture has shifted so completely to private groups and a reluctance to offer kind words to creators in lieu of companies largely treating us like content farms.
My main fandoms are small (or nonexistent) and my friends are busy/tired/interested in other things (all of which is fair and understandable), so part of this is my fault for not being where the people are.... but for now I will continue to reach out to writers and artists to let them know their work has been appreciated and hope that eventually comes back around to being the norm again.
#ao3 wrapped#tag I'm it#random thought#Cloe tries to write#Stay Cool (it's just a kiss)#The Adventures of Eris and Bug#A Rose's Thorns#boueibu#Hidden Expedition#High School Musical

The next bunch of Santa Claus appearances:-
Gen 13: a Christmas Caper. I will level with you - I had no idea who or what Gen 13 were before this book. It's not a part of Wildstorm I'm familiar with.
This is, as best I understand it, the primary-school age Gen 13? being raised by a secret government agency, IO. Basically think 8 year olds with super powers. They're looked after by Miss Helga. (After speed reading the wikis I have NO IDEA when or how this fits in; I think it's either just supposed to be cute OR these are duplicate kids).
The Baron, who might be running IO (?) or in opposition to them (?) hates Santa, as he's received coal for Christmas every year and has a plot to capture Santa! Several of the Gen 13 kids also want to see Santa. Santa arrives and a bunch of military secret agents jump him and capture him along with a couple of the kids. The other kids and Miss Helga have to rescue them.
Lots of superpowers, a very heartwarming moment later on when it's revealed by Santa that he has NOT been giving the Baron coal every year - his father substituted the present to be coal all his childhood to make the Baron more evil.
The conflict makes Santa late for his present deliveries so everyone including the secret agents lend a hand to get all the presents delivered on time.
JLA #60: Twas the Fight Before Christmas
Plastic Man telling Woozy's nephew the story of how Santa joined the JLA.
The most important part of this story, however, is the return of the NPEU! Elf Union #0001 represent!

Okay back to the plot of the definitely real story Plas is telling.
Santa's having a bad year because Neron decided to take over gift giving and give presents that had a nasty twist to them. The JLA and Santa both go to stop Neron, and Santa manages to defeat Neron as he hands him a gift. Because Neron must make bargains, he insists Santa must take something in return, but Santa lectures on the spirit of giving with no strings attached. This logic-faults Neron and defeats him!
Woozy's nephew does not believe this whole story, but as the two of them look out the window...who appears but Santa, flying with rocket boots and using heat vision!
(It's actually J'onn and Kyle, who heard the whole story over Plas' communicator, which was accidentally on, and who decided to make a kid's Christmas)
So, real Santa? You'd think not...
Except Santa appears talking to a reindeer in the final panel! (So that's two layers of fake Santas and one real Santa. Plus the Elf Union)
Young Justice #40: The Night Before Doomsday.
You know this one. YJ recount the story of the year they saw Santa killed on Christmas Eve by Mordrek and they try to deliver the presents for him (failing miserably at getting it done on time, taking "two months, three weeks, and five days").
On rereading this, what jumped out this time is that despite this being a 2001 Christmas story AND being set 'two years ago', Young Justice were delivering presents to Zimbabwe and Rhodesia. Peter David. Rhodesia hadn't existed since 1980 at the LATEST. (Also. Uh. Rhodesia. Um. Not a reference I'd be leaning into in my fun wacky hijinks YJ book)
So Santa's now dead! Except obviously he isn't...our next stop will be The Spectre.

â ïž ATTENTION ALL GEN 2 APPLE PENCIL USERS! â ïž
Heads up! I just had to replace my gen 2 pen with a new gen 2 pen because it no longer worked on my iPad pro.
I could not get it to pair with my new iPad Pro, old iPad pro, nor any of BestBuyâs display iPads. Yet, their display gen 2 pens would pair perfectly with my iPad.
No one can tell me why it stopped working.
The only thing I can think of is that it stopped working with my old iPad after I factory reset it. It must have updated to the latest iOS.
The new iOS 17 update may make your older gen 2 pen stop working. And no there is no fixing it.
I have had my gen 2 pen for 3 years. It makes no sense as to why it suddenly stopped working. Thankfully we got money from trading in my old iPad and they had the pencils on sale, but not everyone is as lucky as I was.
Just be careful! For safety reasons it is recommended to keep your devices up to date, but just be aware of this problem!
If you have a more recently purchased gen 2 apple pencil then you may be fine but just still be aware of this!
Apple has done nothing to address this and from the looks of it itâs been a problem since the very first iteration of iOS 17. They havenât even acknowledged the problem publicly. And from the looks of it itâs affecting a lot of people and has been for months now.
I donât know if this was intentional or not since they will be releasing a gen 3 pen next year. If this was for marketing purposes then it was one shitting move. But its not like apple hasnât done shit like this in the past.
#this is bullshit#please be aware#i am not saying donât update#i am just giving you a warning#as someone who is getting a degree in cybersecurity the last thing Iâd hate to do is not keep up to date on system software of any kind#nugget rambles#psa

It's not just Gen Z and Gen Alpha who I'm worried about as a Software Engineer though. They're trying to take away our tools to build anything and replace them with drag-and-drop GUIs, and I've already been tasked with trying to make the BS they're calling "Anyone Can Make An App" work. Microsoft's entire Power Platform is built on this. They want to avoid individuality or actual features (not bugs!). They want to "eliminate bugs" by forcing you to work in a tiny, infinitesimal space of what you're allowed to do in these new "app builders" instead of having a free range of the app from code to end product. And they claim it's "easier." One example of this was me being the younger programmer (with almost 2 decades under my belt) who was forced to spend four months working in and trying to create something as simple as a Time Off Request App (which is one of their app bases!) in Power Apps to have proof of concept, except all I did was prove that it was a steamy pile of nothing that couldn't work for my high yield company. And it's not just Microsoft that is doing this. iOS and Android have banged out similar "low code" and "no code" options. And don't get me started on using LLMs to do your coding. People are doing it! And releasing apps with it! And they're a freaking nightmare to look at as an engineer who was brought up working in C, C++, Java (plain Java, all these JS Frameworks are gonna collapse and be useless as soon as we figure out what the next big thing is), Python, and even Assembly. I was the last class of Computer Engineering students that was taught Assembly. The lowest-level language they teach at my university now is Java, and it's not even a useful class. It's the kiddie pool like it's always been. I didn't understand anything I was doing until I dropped out after my Junior year, took a community college course, and actually made something from code to finish. it worked, and I could use it. Then, I understood it. This new stuff? They do not want you to know how it works and that is terrifying.
another thought about "gen z and gen alpha don't know how to use computers, just phone apps" is that this is intentionally the direction tech companies have pushed things in, they don't want users to understand anything about the underlying system, they want you to just buy a subscription to a thing and if it doesn't do what you need it to, you just upgrade to the more expensive one. users who look at configuration files are their worst nightmare
#rant#low code#no code#go to hell#app building is currently a cesspool#because so many of them are trying to shove it into little tiny boxes#for no other reason than control#and capitalism#out of credits
