Family Feud Nominations, Who is the Best Doctor Who Family

If I've missed a character out of one of the families let me know (within reason, I imagine all these families are massive in the EU, so prioritise tv or significant characters)

Currently, the only rule is no families may inculde anyone who is even ambiguously The Doctor, it'll get super complicated super fast imo

Any characters, eg River, who can link up multiple different families to create a single massive family unit will be treated on a case by case basis. If it is possible to pick one of the smaller family units that they are a part of to include them in while not including them in any of the others (in a way everyone will agree at least makes sense) they will be included in that family only, otherwise they will not be included

Space: 1999 Stars Barbara Bain & Nick Tate Goes Board Documentary About Sci-Fi Show’s Legendary Spacecraft

Actress Barbara Bain, star of the British sci-fi series Space: 1999, is preparing to board an upcoming documentary about the Eagle, the famed spacecraft at the heart of the show that ran from 1975-1977.

Bain will appear in The Eagle Has Landed as will Nick Tate, her cast mate from Space: 1999. The documentary includes the participation of several other notable figures: Apollo XVI astronaut Charles Duke Jr., Academy Award-winning visual effects artist Bill George (Blade Runner, Star Trek), and Brian Johnson, the VFX artist on Space: 1999 whose work is said to have influenced Star Wars. The film is being directed and produced by Jeffrey Morris, who also hosts the documentary. 

The Eagle Has Landed “explores the cross-generational impact of the iconic vessel” in the series that also starred Martin Landau. According to a press release, the film “showcases never-before-seen archival footage” and will be released in time for the 50th anniversary of Space: 1999’s debut, in 2025.

“Space: 1999 appeared on TV a few short years after the world watched Neil Armstrong take the first steps on the moon,” Morris noted in a statement. “The show’s unforgettable Eagle inspired a generation to envision a future in space and is still doing so decades later. The question we explore is ‘why?’ What is it about this imaginary craft that has captured and held imaginations for nearly 50 years?

Morris’s FutureDude Entertainment is producing the documentary in partnership with Zero Point Zero Production Inc. Anne Marie Gillen is a producer on the project, along with Morris. The film is written by Morris and Fredrick Haugen. Morris is represented by Espada Entertainment.

Space: 1999 ran for a total of 48 episodes, with Bain and Landau in all of them as, respectively, Dr. Helena Russell and Commander John Koenig (the actors were married to each other at the time; they had previously co-starred together in Mission: Impossible).

The show revolved around the denizens of Moonbase Alpha, scientific researchers living on the moon whose existence was threatened by a nuclear explosion, which rocketed the moon out of Earth’s orbit. Tate, an Australian-born actor, played pilot Alan Carter on 42 of the show’s 48 episodes. Originally, his character was to be killed off in the premiere episode, a casualty of the nuclear explosion, but producers Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson liked his work and expanded his role.

“Hovering above the Moon in one of Alpha’s Eagle spacecraft, Alan Carter is an observer to this holocaust, watching helplessly as the Moon spins out into space,” according to a synopsis published by the Catacombs.Space1999.net website. “Sacrificing his only chance to return home, Carter decides to give chase to the runaway Moon, joining his friends on the endless intergalactic journey.”

Tate told the website, “I didn’t have to dig too deeply with this character. Alan Carter was all the things I was as a young man: friendly, happy-go-lucky, someone who loved adventure and accepted a challenge.”

Ian McShane, Joan Collins, and Leo McKern were among actors who appeared in single episodes of Space: 1999.

Hela's episode just showed us that they really were that lazy with Peggy

They used the same premise of giving a character another character's story, in this case Hela went through what Thor did and yet Hela not only retained her core personality but they recreated the core elements of the story and adapted them to her.

They broke Mjolnir and gave the enchantment to her helmet so same theme, different execution.

She didn't crash in front of a group of quirky scientists in the US and bonded with the apprentice Ian, they threw her way out of the scope of the Thor movies and into a completely different one, Wen Wu and Ta Lo.

We get to see her interact and live in a world we never thought could bond and coexist, they delve into her trauma of being raised as a weapon

She changed

She went from being the goddess of death to goddess of light, we see a complete change in the path of her character and how it affected the universe she lived it.

So yeah, Marvel just showed us they can do it, THEY CAN, they just didn't want to with Peggy, nor did they care, they have pushed her to be Steve and be with Steve than be herself.

Honestly I would've scrapped that retelling of the Cap 2 movie episode and would've introduced her back into the series in that 1602 episode, that episode felt more like her and not a copy/paste over Steve's story and that's only because Steve himself is in there.

Also that, Cap, you're up, would've been an EXCELLENT entrance, imagine the last time you saw Captain Carter was in the S1 finale and then next time she's in 1602.

She could've been set up as a working hero of the multiverse, she could've been handling multiverse chaos like this one, making her role even more important, she isn't just a hero in her universe, she's a hero in multiple universes.

Seriously Marvel is shoving her too much into our faces but they're not even giving her good enough stuff, of course fans are going to start to hate her, don't allow it! They've done it with Captain Marvel where they hype her up too much and then do nothing with her. I'm tired, I want a good Captain Carter.

⠀ ━━━━ ⠀INTRO ㅤ : ㅤ the avos universe explores the pain of adolescence. through parallel themes within their music and in their videos, fans have noticed the stages of the road to adulthood are split into acts divided by each of avos’ tours in support of those albums.

✶.   (ㅤTHE NARRATORS.ㅤ)   –—  the members each portray different versions of the protagonist in music videos through appearances as narrators for each comeback film. each narrator has a specific purpose within the universe with different motives and povs within the protagonist's story.

SANGHYUK : commonly referred to by the name “元” meaning ORIGIN, sanghyuk’s version of narrator is the first introduction to the universe’s protagonist. he is most often the vessel used to explore the 3rd person observation of the protagonist’s story and is perceived as being the most reliable narrator of the five presented within the storyline.

CARTER : commonly referred to by the name “巖” meaning DANGER, carter’s version of narrator is the second introduction to the universe’s protagonist. he is the outer voice of the protagonist itself used to better describe the protagonist as if speaking to someone who does not know them. it is clear that this narrator is the least reliable of the five narrators because it is an image set up to make the protagonist appear without flaw.

ROMEO : commonly referred to by the name “眞” meaning GENUINE, romeo’s version of narrator is the fourth introduction to the universe’s protagonist. he is the inner voice of the protagonist used to describe the thoughts of the universe’s protagonist. although it is not explicitly stated, romeo is the most important narrator as he holds total truth behind the protagonist’s thoughts, actions, and experiences.

HWASEONG : commonly referred to by the name “智” meaning WISDOM, hwaseong’s version of narrator is the final introduction to the universe’s protagonist. he is the all-knowing being that is exempt from emotion or past experience with the protagonist. because he has never interacted with the protagonist, he lacks the context that makes sanghyuk the most reliable narrator and the personal bias that makes carter the least reliable narrator.

NOTES : the story begins with the first three albums serving as the prologue for the story orchestrated by the group. the protagonist is usually portrayed by all five members in turns. fans have concluded that this element is important in understanding which elements of the storyline are imagined, which have actually happened, and what themes to expect.

DEBUT SERIES : explore the protagonist’s first encounter with the concept of love. the narrator themes (origin, danger, son, genuine, and wisdom) are also introduced during these videos through brief monologues by the members. these monologues often feature the particular member speaking as the protagonist, revealing the nature and motive of the spoken words.

PERFECTION : the first music video that completely focuses on one member, romeo, as the protagonist. in this video, the protagonist experiences the rush of developing meaningful feelings for someone outside of the previously identified characters in the capitulum series. symbolized through a bright pastel fever dream, the rush of emotions eventually give out and he collapses back to reality. with romeo as the protagonist, it is clear that the protagonist has only imagined the events.

BLAME : the music video focuses on sanghyuk as the protagonist. he is no longer a teenager in this video and is instead married to the girl who appeared in the perfection music video. a young actor who resembles sanghyuk witnesses the intense emotions sanghyuk experiences as he fights with his wife. towards the end of the music video, the boy escapes out of the back door of the home, as his mother runs after him into the road, the video cuts to black. the sound of a car horn is the last thing heard before the video ends. with sanghyuk as the member who appears in the video, it is clear that the protagonist is actually the young boy and not the father who sanghyuk portrays.

YOU ( 너 ) : the music video features hwaseong as the protagonist. a scene in which hwaseong is running is repeated throughout the video, with slight inconsistencies or differences in hwaseong’s appearance or his surroundings. finally, in the last repeated scene hwaseong comes face to face with a hall of infinite mirrors, instead of his reflection on the other side, carter is seen. hwaseong as the protagonist reveals that the events are from the deepest corners of the protagonist's mind, carter’s appearance at the end alludes to danger in the future.

✶ . ㅤ ╱ ㅤACT II : THE HONEYMOONㅤ˒

CORRESPONDING ALBUMS : faultlines, v, nemesis, rhamnusia, & aion

NOTES : the story continues with more light-hearted themes. although fans expected carter to be the protagonist in the next videos, he is not the lead, instead, ian and romeo lead this act.

INTOXICATION : the music video focuses on carter as the protagonist. with the protagonist being a teenager again, he is spending a night out with friends. with friends surrounding him, the protagonist is euphoric as he is seen drinking, dancing, and smoking throughout the video. eventually, the love interest depicted throughout the first act approaches him and the two share a heated kiss under strobed lights and a blur of people dancing around them. carter’s role as the protagonist is a description of the protagonist from those who know him best, it might not be the most accurate description of what happened that night.

YESTERDAY : the music video focuses on carter as the protagonist again. continuing with the love interest depicted in intoxication, the pair is seen wandering around the city, engaging in mischievous activities, and stopping along the way to show off their new connection with one another.

NEMESIS : switches to focus on romeo as the protagonist. at the beginning of the video, he is confronted with a maze full of twists and mirrors. each of the mirrors reveals a different version of himself or glimpses into moments in his life that have already occurred. several times, events that have already been narrated or played by other members are re-visited with romeo in their place. at the end of the video, he stumbles out of the maze and onto an empty street, sweaty and out of breath. the same horn from the blame music video is heard as romeo turns to face it. he is emotionless before the video cuts to black.

EVE : the music video switches back to focusing on carter as the protagonist. the video picks up where the video for yesterday left off. the two stumble through the streets of the city clearly drunk on both alcohol and love. he walks her to her doorstep, leaving with a kiss on her lips before he turns to walk back home himself. at his door is a clearly exhausted, out-of-breath romeo, carter stops in his tracks.

HOCUS POCUS : the music video focuses on romeo as the last protagonist of this act. instead of continuing the story from where it last left off, it explores a prior concept from the first act. caught up in a dream again, the protagonist’s closest friends and family continuously disappear anytime he gets too close to them. in a sudden burst of smoke and light, he is left by himself multiple times before the end of the video where he approaches his reflection and attempts to touch it. he also disappears, leaving carter in his place.

CORRESPONDING ALBUMS : in : retrospect, in : introspect, in : healing, & she left before dawn

NOTES : the story picks up immediately where it left off with carter leading the third act. the themes in this act are noticeably darker than in the previous two. the music videos within the in series, love scenario, continue?, and easy:uneasy, explore carter’s place within the storyline so far. the three-part series featured an interlude film before their release in which carter narrates pieces of a poem about living among the dead.

LOVE SCENARIO : begins with carter appearing among the smoke left behind after romeo attempts to touch his reflection. the world around him begins to rewind before carter finds himself face to face with the young boy from sanghyuk’s protagonist story in the blame music video. the boy points to the road where a singular flower rests in the road.

CONTINUE ? : picks up with carter picking up the flower in the road. the flower disintegrates in his hands while sanghyuk rushes out to envelop the young boy in his arms, walking through carter as if he isn’t there. before carter can attempt to speak to sanghyuk, he is whisked away to ian’s protagonist in the eve music video. as ian comes across romeo at his doorstop, carter interferes with their meeting. upon realizing carter’s appearance, the two others turn to face him.

EASY:UNEASY : hwaseong’s protagonist in the you (너) music video sees carter on the other side of the mirror instead of his own reflection. hwaseong stumbles away from the mirror and as he turns to face the camera, carter takes his place. the world once again swirls around carter before he is faced with the protagonist’s love interest. she gasps and attempts to touch him, carter tries to stop her but soon realizes she can only see him as ian and not carter.

WHERE THE LIGHT IS LOST : begins with carter standing in the maze of mirrors seen in prior videos. in each mirror around him, different protagonists in different moments of the protagonist’s life are seen. the world begins to swirl around carter again as he winces. finally, everything comes to a halt and carter now holds a gun to his head, hands shaking as he presses against the trigger. the four other versions of the protagonist turn to face him. the video cuts to black.

GOODBYE ROAD : in the music video for goodbye road carter is seen panicking as shattered glass surrounds him. tears streak down his face as he attempts to reassemble the mirrors, only cutting his hands in the process. blood drips from his palms as he is frantically picking up the glass shards. a hand touches his shoulder causing him to stop in his tracks and look up. the young boy appears by his side.

Sam and Molly are dating for the first half of things, and eventually break up to date Peter and Olivia.

Candice has been a knight ever since she was 14.

It’s been ten years since Bill Orcutt released A History of Every One, a compendium of hacksaw renditions of American standards on acoustic guitar — and since ten years is a blink of an eye, you are forgiven for not immediately realizing that we've gone an entire decade waiting for Jump On It, the next Orcutt solo acoustic record. As those of us of “a certain age” will tell you (ad nauseam), a decade is a blink of an eye containing an infinity of experiential moments, and if this record is any gauge, the weight of those experiences have squashed Orcutt’s rough edges, feathered his stop-motion timing into a languid lyrical flow, and snapped the shackles tethering his instant compositional skills to the imperative to deconstruct guitar history. In short, Jump On It is a collection of canonical, mature acoustic guitar soli to contrast against the fractured downtown conceits of previous acoustic releases. For those paying attention to the arc of Orcutt’s electric records, which chart a course from Quine’s choppiness to Thompsonian / Verlaine-ian flow, it should be no surprise that the ten year gap between acoustic records should expose a similar underlying journey.

But what’s maybe more surprising is that Jump On It, with its living-room aesthetics and big reverb, packs a disarming intimacy absent from the formal starkness of Orcutt’s earlier acoustic outings. Although you might sense the looming human in the audible breath whispering intermittently between chords (a physical flourish reminiscent of the late Jack Rose), such documentarian signposts are the exception rather than the rule. Not quite refuting (yet not quite embracing) the polish of revered watershed records by Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, or Bola Sete, Jump On It treads a path between the raw and the refined, exemplified in tracks such as “The Life of Jesus” and “In a Column of Air” that alternate swaying chords with Orcutt’s trademark angular quicksilver runs (cut brick-wall short). While you won’t mistake Jump On It for incidental music, at least not if taken at full strength, stray passages radiate a conversational beauty that would please the most dissonance-adverse listener.

Strangely, some of the melted lockstep grooves found in Jump On It evoke nothing other than Music for Four Guitars. While many of the linear runs are clearly improvised, and the phrasing distinctly slurred, intuitive and non-mechanical, the strummed chords hint at a cellular construction similar to Jump On It’s electric predecessor. (Orcutt states that he prefers to keep his strategies obscure — but that implies there is in fact a strategy).

Whatever the case, I also hear Satie in Music for Four Guitars, and I hear him here too, hidden within Jump On It’s lilting repetition, which I easily imagine stretching to an infinitely-distant horizon. Like each of Satie's three Gymnopedies, each facet of Jump On It is a tiny miniature bound in a slim volume, an earworm you might savor again and again upon awakening or before drifting off. Each track is a key to a memory, a building block in a shining anamnesis leading to the recollection that hey, we’re all humans in a shared cosmos, and music is one way we might make that universe go down easy. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

We already know that Ian Curtis' voice was beautiful and haunting. We already know that Joy Division were essential to the landscape of goth music. You've seen this album cover on t-shirts at your local community college. Let's talk about sound design. The music is both heavy and atmospheric at the same time. The drums echo as if played very loudly but at great distance. The production emphasizes the sounds that happens in between the played notes. When you listen between the lines you'll notice so many odd sounds filling this album. Metal objects being dropped on the ground, ambient hum from an old elevator, glass bottles being shattered, the sound of gunshots, the sound of one of the members eating potato chips. The ability to hear these sounds and imagine music is a powerful tool in any musician's repertoire. The weird ambience between the notes is given intensely musical properties and it makes the album feel sparse and full at the same time. It isn't just some memetic property that this album is so well regarded, it really deserves to be dissected and appreciated.

Run-DMC - Raising Hell

Back with a third smash hit album in a row the crew from Hollis are even more cohesive and corny than ever. This album has it all, weird metaphors (Peter Piper), bragging about rap skills (It's Tricky and Perfection), being proud to be black (Proud To Be Black), shoes (My Adidas), comical levels of mysogyny (Dumb Girl), imagining what if there was a really weird guy (You Be Illin'), and covers of heavy metal songs (Walk This Way). It's basically perfect. They really have perfected the 80s style of call and response point man focused hip hop. And Jam Master Jay is bringing just the right mix of turntablism to make the beats feel unique and fun. And it's important to note that Run-DMC's cover of Walk This Way helped catapult hip hop music into the mainstream.

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III

I've already gushed about Wayne but Tha Carter III is one of the two Lil Wayne albums that are undeniably his best. Wayne croaks into action right from the get go and delivers his signature cadence. A flow that always knows where the beat is, but is never right on it. His flow is more of a swagger and he delivers every line with an effortless confidence. I love his cunty little laugh that he punctuates lines with. It's the perfect thing to cement his attitude. He's on top and he isn't even worried about the competition. He comes out the gate firing and never stops. There's a reason why Wayne is GOAT and it's not just the hooves.

The Eagles - s/t

Imma have to defend some dad rock yet again. The Eagles are a wildly hit or miss band. Their debut is a major hit. It starts right off with Takin It Easy, a massively catchy hit. And there's a neat little undercurrent that is the lynchpin to what makes a good Eagles album: banjo. I love when they got that little bluegrass banjo going on it is what separates The Eagles from other country rock artists. There aren't any boring slow tracks that tend to plague other Eagles albums. There's just a solid mix of upbeat rock tunes. But here's the thing. The Eagles are actually the one band where I think their greatest hits belongs on this list. It trims the fat from their early career and gives the most cohesive album The Eagles ever cut. Sure you lose a couple of gems (Earlybird is charming and Journey Of The Sorcerer is their best songs fite me) but the end result speaks for itself. Most importantly it was the first record to go platinum. The Eagles greatest hits was the highest selling record of the 20th century. So yeah they had one chance to put on a greatest hits without me grumbling about it and they fucked up.

Sorry for delaying this, my exam session started and well, I’ve been busy with work and other stuff. But it’s here now!

“Hey, what’s cooking, good looking?” 

You heard out of the blue, and turned around curious. You saw a tall and slender dude with short hair and wearing black-rimmed glasses looking at you expectantly, with what seemed a seductive grin. You glanced around quickly, raising an eyebrow in suspicion. Was this dude talking to you?

Or more likely, was he serious? 

Seeing you so unresponsive makes him nervous. You can see how his confidence slips away and the corners of his mouth start twitching unsure. The dude opens his mouth as if he wanted to continue (with another stupid pick-up line, probably) but he closes it again, unable to say anything else. He glances to the side and you quickly follow his gaze, curious. Seems like he was looking at his friend for help, but the other boy turned his back on him, pretending he didn’t know the dude standing in front of you. You could see the bespectacled boy turn red from embarrassment as he turned back to you, waiting for an answer. 

“It’s your shawarma, sir.” You emphasize in a deadpan tone, resuming your work. Time was wasting and the customers standing in line weren’t very happy that they were standing in line. You had to do your job - you didn’t want to get fired because of some cute guy that was trying to ‘woo’ you. 

“Y-Yeah…That’s right. You’re right. You are absolutely right.” He clears his throat and runs a hand through his short hair, pretending like nothing happened. But that blush was still present on those cheeks.

You chuckled amused, finally smiling a little. “Coming right up.” 

Later, while he was eating, Ian find out your number neatly written on a napkin. Safe to say it made his heart leap in joy. 

“See? Told ya it would work!”

#4 - Kisses

Joji Kisses would start out as plain old regular loving kisses, but as you kept going, his hands that cupped your face before, would slide down on your waist as things got heated, his lips and tongue growing more needy and desperate. Kissing this fiercely would make him grab your waist harder, and maybe he’d slide his hands down a little further, pulling you closer to his growing bulge, inevitably sending both of you to the bedroom. 

Ian Pulling him closer by the shirt, your lips still connected to each others, he’d hum lustfully, and as the kiss would grow more wet and intense, Ian would slide his hand down from your face to the back of your neck, holding you right there, feeling you up. Eventually, you’d end up on top of each other, his hands desperately touching you all over, never getting enough of feeling your mouth and your body on his.

Max Max would very commandingly pull you onto his lap, hold your waist while continuing to kiss you, gradually growing more forceful and eager for your touch. Muffled small noises of contentedness would begin to escape his mouth, as he would be sitting there, leaned back, legs spread with you on his lap - just how he likes it.
