I love them so much y’all don’t even understand every couple of years decades really there’s a couple or on screen ship that’s so insanely good with palpable chemistry and sexual tension that my brain chemistry gets altered in way that’s not for the sane people the serotonin and buzz be so strong no dr*yg could ever make me feel that way! that even tho logically I’m my mind I know it’s just acting and they are doing their job incredibly annoyingly well I still believe it with all my heart that they are in fact dating and are happy and aren’t just saying anything because they don’t wanna let people in on their life which is fair I know it’s wrong and silly and just very dvmb bc it’s just acting very very phenomenal brilliant acting but damn and 80% of the time they were or ended up as couple later on sure few weren’t and didn’t but it all started with JD/WR BP/AJ Sandra x Keanu, Jake x Anne Kiera x James(James with anyone really Christina Anne) Anne Kiera with anyone too, Margot x Will, Ian x Nina, Sophia x Austin, Ryan x Sarah (this one hurts still bc wdym they dated longer then they was alive on the show?) sometimes the actors be doing not even a bit to much but wayyy over the board to much actually, Nicole x Micheal then came stonefiled then came Haesoo jisoo x haein and now we are here in this dilemma that should get into a psych ward next to the riddler joker and penguin with lukenewton and nicolacoughlan they are the worst too

I fight with my mind constantly telling myself it’s just acting then I be like really is it? Is it really just acting that kinda of unhinged chemistry brilliance cant just be acting it’s to much to be acting only😂! be careful the brain plays tricks on you and so the actors bc to them it’s just a job while to others(me) it’s a straight jacket signs and mental illness signs! The Truth About Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden is one! The hero had a very cold father and has sort of become the man of the house, is managing a total mess of a brother... who compromised a mousy girl in a non-sexual way, and now the hero is marrying her to make up for it. Fortunately, he's DEEPLY obsessed with her hands.

I would say that Lisa Kleypas's The Hathaways series has this. I can't remember exactly how both Hathaway parents died (one had scarlet fever, I think) but point is that Leo becomes head of the household fairly young, and having just lost his fiancee to the fever... He is a MESS. A MESS. Total dissolute rake. His book is next to last in the series, but each book (about his sisters) shows you his character development. The second one introduces his heroine, too, and they have this slow burn supporting tension. Her Ravenels series has a similar situation, but you get that hero's journey first as he's the hero of the first book. He inherits a title unexpectedly, and with it his three cousins who he now has to take care of lol.

Alexandra Vasti's Ne'er Duke Well has a hero who has to care for his two younger illegitimate siblings. It's pretty fun—he needs to get married in order to maintain full custody of them, and the heroine tries to help him find a wife while CLEARLY being the right wife.

Duke Most Wicked by Lenora Bell is about a duke who was a bit of a mess before, but now has to shape up to find good matches for his sisters. Too bad he's really into their poor music teacher...

Lorraine Heath's The Return of the Duke is about a hero who's doing this in a unique way... His father is a duke and ends up executed and losing his title after he's convicted of treason. The hero has been lowkey trying to reclaim the title and get the family name restored for years, which is what leads him to the heroine... his father's former mistress.

Her Protector's Pleasure by Graced Callaway introduces Ambrose Kent, the patriarch of her Kent family, who is in charge of his billions of younger siblings who all find love in their own books lol (their father had most of them quite young). If I'm HONEST, Ambrose is one of my lower-ranked Grace heroes because he is very like... stolid? In a lot of ways? BUT it fits this trope very well.

An m/m option would be The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by KJ Charles. Joss Doomsday has kind of fallen into a "protector" role in his crime family, though he certainly has relatives that oppose him and the family matriarch (his grandmother) technically isn't dead... Just very old. He's really sweet with his little cousin.

Lmao if you want "dark but also weirdly comical" Hart Mackenzie was forced to become the family father figure even before his own father died because the man was so abusive. Hart... doesn't always do it right... But he deeply loves his family, and the moment in his book (The Duke's Perfect Wife) where he and Ian have this big like... recognition of how much they love each other... Makes me wanna cry. He's got a lot of paternalistic shit in the first three books in the series (both literally and metaphorically) BUT again, his book is The Duke's Perfect Wife.

OH! Devil Cynster in the Cynster series is TOTALLY this. Deeply dominating and bossy. Also a doting brother/cousin/uncle/whatever he is to all of the family.

My Week in Reviews: May 19, 2024

Mean Girls (Samantha Jayne & Arturo Perez Jr., 2024)

Not the train wreck I was expecting. Angourie Rice barely makes a good Cady and her singing is probably the weakest in the cast, I don't get the obsession with Reneé Rapp even in real life, so Regina doesn't work, at all, and the dude who plays Aaron is f*ckin' ugly, so his being the focus of Cady and Regina's attention throughout most of the movie never seems genuine. But other than that, there's some great shit, in here. Gretchen and Karen are awesome. The songs that aren't terrible are actually kinda great. And Moana f*ckin' owns Janis, easily becoming the single true upgrade over the brilliant original. - 6/10

Lisa Frankenstein (Zelda Williams, 2024)

It never gets as weird or over-the-top as it should, but I still had a really good time with it. Kathryn Newton is fantastic (as usual) and thankfully there's enough humor that lands to save it from the elements that don't. - 7/10

The Map of Tiny Perfect Things (Ian Samuels, 2021)

It has likable leads and a solid heart that makes it work as a coming-of-age story even without the time-loop mechanics. But I'm kind of a sucker for time-loop movies, so this didn't have to work all that hard to win me over, from the start. - 8/10

The Idea of You (Michael Showalter, 2024)

I've never identified with a singer in a boy band more than when this dude falls head-over-heels for Anne Hathaway. This wasn't bad. Nothing specific really stood out about it aside from Annie, but it had some good moments and ideas and was far from a waste of time. - 6.5/10

Madame Web (S.J. Clarkson, 2024)

Only having Sydney Sweeney in her Spider-Woman costume for less that 10-seconds of the film really has to be the biggest cinematic cheat of the decade... if not longer. Worse even than when they put Drew Barrymore all over the Scream posters. But really, I dwell on this because if I dwell on the actual film itself the depression over the fact that this big budget release with the overall quality of an old Troma flick actually got funding and a wide release would be crippling. Who thought any of this actually worked?!? - 1/10

Also revisited Andrew Patterson's The Vast of Night (because the mood struck for some quiet sci-fi) and Tom Vaughan's Starter for 10, because I completely forgot that I'd ever seen it in the first place, and Alice Eve.

I think Kaia wanted to do what Hailey Bieber did (she kind of was obsessive with Justin and finally got with him lol) but Austin was just attracted to her and never actually fell in love. I agree with you that she will not go back to Jacob bc well he is kind of losing his stardom (people talked more about Barry then him when saltburn came out). I do not see anyone being the new rising actor in the next couple of years that isn’t already popular so she is clinging to Austin even tho she knows the relationship is kind of over. The moment Anne discovers the little muddy paw prints all over her kitchen floor, she knows what's up. Ian might think he's subtle but they've all seen the way he fondly looks at the mangy alley cat that often lurks outside the house. Anne isn't really surprised he's finally brought her into the house, only that it's taken him so long. Part of that is probably her fault, she thinks. She made it very clear that she doesn't want any pets inside the house - not because she doesn't like them but because she knows her husband and children. Her home would have been overflowing with three-legged dogs, half-blind cats and flightless birds years ago if she hadn't put her foot down.

She'll gladly make an exception for Ian, though, especially when she sees how badly he startles when she catches him trying to sneak the cat back outside. He immediately begins to stammer out an apology, and it breaks Anne's heart a little that instinct still tells him she'll punish him for caring, so she smiles her warmest smile and reaches out to pet the cat. "What's her name?"

"Minka," Ian whispers, almost stumbling over his words in his desperation to explain to her that Minka used to live on the streets around Croydon's residence and became something of a friend to him. "She followed me here and I just couldn't leave her outside in that storm yesterday. I'll take her back now, I promise."

"Nonsense," Anne tells him and scratches Minka behind the ears. The cat closes her eyes and purrs. "She's part of the family. Aren't you, Minka?"

Ian's eyes widen and the sheer gratitude shimmering in them tugs at Anne's heart. She pats his shoulder reassuringly and smiles at him, and when he asks her, "Really?" his voice shaking with emotions, she nods. "Of course, Ian. You both are."

Do you ever get groceries delivered to your house? Yeah, we get a delivery every Thursday.

What was the last job interview you went to where you didn't get the job? Do you think the interview went well or not? I’ve never failed a job interview - every job I’ve interviewed for I’ve been successful, thankfully. Now I run my own business so I don’t really need to worry about that kind of thing.

Are you the kind of person who can wake up with one alarm or do you need several? One alarm is plenty - I can never fall back asleep once my alarm has gone off, no matter how tired I am.

What's your favourite pasta shape? Fusili.

What position is your body in right now? Sitting, laying, standing? I’m sitting on the sofa with my legs out in front of me on the recliner bit.

Do you have any plans for the upcoming weekend? It’s Saturday and I’ve just started an eight day house-sit. So today I got up, walked the dogs, popped home to shower and see my husband and animals, then back here and I have no real plans for the rest of the day as it’s pouring rain and tomorrow will be the same.

What's one of the saddest movies you've ever seen? The Road.

Has a movie ever made you cry? God, loads of times lol. If I’m on my period I’ll cry at anything ha.

If you have a pet, where are they right now? My own pets are all at home, but I’m currently house-sitting for two dogs and a cat. Bailey (dog) is asleep next to me, Poppy (dog) is asleep on the other sofa and Benny (cat) is asleep under the table.

What's the last dessert you ate? I had a blueberry muffin for lunch if that counts?

Do you experience deja vu often? Not really.

Are there any rooms in your house that you don't go into every day? Yeah, the spare room.

Did you own many videos or DVDs when you were a kid? No. We never had a video player and even into my teens I only owned a handful of DVD’s. My parents (dad especially) were really anti-screen time. Ironically he now spends most of his retirement on a laptop or watching TV lol.

What was the last physical pain you experienced? Back ache.

Have you ever fed an animal at the zoo? Which ones? Yeah, multiple times. Off the top of my head, I’ve fed jaguars, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, penguins, squirrel monkeys, lemurs, birds of prey (eagles, owls, hawks) and the usual farm animals - goats, sheep, horses etc.

Do you use Fahrenheit or Celsius? Do you know both or just one? Celsius. I don’t automatically know the equivalent in fahrenheit, no.

Can you do a handstand? When was the last time you tried? Only underwater. I haven’t done one since we were in Lanzarote though.

Does your current city differ from your hometown in terms of weather? Yeah, it’s much wetter and cooler up here. But we have much more interesting nature and we’re by the sea which is perfect for me.

Eek! I love this idea @peonierose 🤣 So I did a little moodboard, or tried to 🤦🏻‍♀️ I wish I was better at them, LOL! I went with my OC Amanda Bridgerton. *on a side note, I'm still out of town so this was done after long theme park days and nights 😂 So my exhaustion might be shining through with multiple mistakes 🤣

One of the things I love about her is how once she is assured that her love interest returns her feelings, she immediately relaxes and is so giving with her heart and affection. She settles into the role of girlfriend/fiancee/wife with ease and does nothing but look forward to being with the one she loves. Her adoration of her love interest only makes him fall even more in love with her. Her gentleness and humor go a long way to endear her to those she considers hers.

My FC for her is Anne Hathaway. The other two FC's are James Marsden for Maxwell Beaumont and Jon Hamm for Thomas Hunt. Amanda was created at first for Maxwell Beaumont. In my HC, she is a duchess from Cordonia. Her duchy is St Orella. Her parents died at sea when she was twelve and she grew up with Liam, Maxwell, Drake, and Olivia. Her uncle, Nicholas Bridgerton "Uncle Nicky" raised her and was a huge influence on her life as well as her friends' lives. He was warm, fun loving, and wise and died shortly before the events of TRR.

I usually had her either crushing hard on Maxwell or in love with him. In a few older AU's of mine, they always ended up together. Amanda is also a successful author. From the beginning, I had her working with Thomas Hunt and Ryan Summers of Red Carpet Diaries to turn her book about her ancestor into a movie. In the beginning, I had her falling for Ryan Summers when she believed that Maxwell would never see her as anything more than a friend. Then I did something that changed everything 🤣

I decided to write an angsty piece with Maxwell and Amanda. I allowed Thomas Hunt to enter into the picture as a love interest and realized (along with a few others on here) that she was better suited with him than she was with Maxwell.

So the end of Maxwell x Amanda came about and I entered into the Thomas Hunt x Amanda saga.

I must admit writing their love story came about so much easier than when I tried to force her with Maxwell 😂😂😂 Now I can't imagine her with anyone else.

So, regardless of the Love Interest or the AU, Amanda is trying very hard to not be a suitor for Liam because she is desperately in love with either Maxwell or Thomas. And usually, they are working just as hard to make certain she doesn't have to.

Amanda longs to find the one she is meant for, marry, and have a family of her own. With Maxwell, she has two daughters, Nichole "Nicky" and Emily. With Thomas, she has three children, Kathleen and the twins: Ian and Elizabeth. All these names are what I wanted to name my own children, especially if I had been fortunate enough to have girls and one more boy. 🙄 I have two sons and was unable to have anymore due to serious health issues that developed after having my second son, so it at least I have my imaginary ones 😂

As for inspiration for my OC, it belongs with my late aunt whom I lost in 2013. Aunt Ann always encouraged my imagination and story ideas and she wanted me to one day write a story and have a character with my name (she loved how it looked written out). So Amanda has my first name and long before Bridgerton became popular on Netflix, I devoured the Bridgerton series of books back in 2016/2017 and gave her their last name in honor of my all time favorite series of books.

I've also given Amanda my own quirks and insecurities along with my dark hair and hazel eyes.

She has my hatred of having to stand and speak before large groups. She loves to dance. She loves movies, especially the classic films which is something I was raised to adore. Her favorite flower is the tulip and her favorite color is blue (which is also her duchy's color along with silver)

She is an only child like me. She suffers with many of the doubts I did as a teenager and young adult while waiting on my perfect match to appear.

She is highly critical of her own body like I am. She loves cheese enchiladas and chip and dip like I do 🤣 She laughs often which I'm guilty of and is pretty upbeat for the most part when she isn't wallowing in her doubts.

Amanda also over thinks things and jumps to conclusions though tries to be logical about them in her arguments much like I do 🤦🏻‍♀️ I also gave her my clumsiness. It's been so great to have in life 😂
