@TKazansky: Wrote a piece for @theAtlantic about the US Military’s recent commitment to ensuring safe working conditions for active-duty LGBT service members at home and abroad. It was a quiet day. She was ahead of her plans, and some time off her horse sounded nice. She had been itching to draw, although, it would have been nice to have a human subject. Solita stared at the sketch of some animals grazing in the clearing with only the smallest hint of disappointment. Then, she gave a simple sigh, she went to get to her feet- only looking up to see something gray overtake her vision and knock her off her feet. "Wh- Th-" The wind knocked from her lungs, Solita could only scrabble in confusion, pinned under a mysterious grey object that was suspiciously human-shaped.
So much for a quiet day.
Even if you do something a hundred thousand times, even a hundred million, there are always going to be accidents, errors, occasional slip-ups. With skills such as cooking that could be anything from using the wrong seasoning on a dish, to slicing a fingertip with a knife by mistake, to setting an entire building ablaze with a grease-fire. Even the experts fuck up sometimes, what matters more is a toss-up between prevention and quick reactions to solve the problems that arise when things go wrong, not trying to be perfect.
Of course, there is a fine line between messing up in the kitchen, and messing up when traveling between myriad dimensions, worlds, and realms with magic. At the very least, the former doesn't entail messing with the fabric of reality or laws of causality.
All things considered, appearing a kilometer above a random forest instead of simply appearing at ground-level somewhere within it seems far less dangerous than arriving inside-out, several miles underground regardless of pre-existing rock formations, or punching a yawning all-consuming abyss into the fabric of reality where you should have arrived, but it still left the Shamanic Fae far in the air with nothing - no magic, no wings, and no structural support - to keep him from falling under the fickle, harsh rules of Gravity.
This, of course, was certainly plenty of consolation for the clearly-panicked man with the size and weight of an adult Kodiak Grizzly - he did what he could, trying to force gusts of wind to cushion his fall to little avail, only to fall on top of a random traveler.
"Oh Mein Gott Please tell me you are okay-"
A massive hand gently lifted the absolutely crushed woman, another quickly pumped an aurora of azure, emerald, and amber energies through her battered frame, sparks of life-energy quickly repairing the damages his unforeseen landing had caused as the Giant continued to panic -merely shifting his focus from himself to the victim of his arrival.
Clearly, today was not off to a great start for at least one of them. And to think, he had not five minutes ago considered dropping in on someone to say hello...

"Um, Hello everyone. I am Douglas. A native wraith born Imp. I work alot of odd jobs in both Pride, Wraith and sometimes sloth. I-if you need any help with ANYTHING let me know. I do love to be of service when I am able to be." The smaller imp spoke out with long shaggy white hair and golden eyes dressed much like punk rocker with ripped up jeans
