Today, after 14 months, I got my diagnosis and started treatment for Idiopathic Intacranial Hypertension (IIH)... A rare, and incurable brain disorder. My symptoms include daily headaches, blurred vision, temporary vision loss, and extreme tinnitus and 'whooshing' ... 😢 My treatment is medication used for altitude sickness which will (hopefully) alleviate some of my symptoms. The may be a requirement for brain surgery later down the line if medication fails. The risk of permanent blindness is real! I’ve been a bit quiet on posting lately, I’ve been dealing with some medical issues, my IIH (#idiopathicintracranialhypertension ) had been flaring up lately. Generally for me, this this manifests as pretty much daily migraine-like headaches and recently it has been causing me many strange eye issues- mostly constant flashing in my left eye. It makes it difficult to do artwork and look at computer screens! My neuro-opthalomgist has been monitoring me very closely, and rounds of MRI and MRVs has decided I need surgery to protect my optic nerves from further damage from the swelling. This morning I’ll be having an optic nerve sheath fenestration surgery, and hopefully it will keep my intracranial pressure under control so I don’t require a brain shunt or stenting. Luckily neither of my doctors are too keen on doing brain surgery unless it’s just absolutely necessary. Anyways, I don’t try to talk much about these things on this feed, but since it may require me taking a few days (or weeks?!) to get back to normal-ish I just wanted to post a heads up that I may not be available or responsive to emails/requests for a lil while, didn’t want anyone thinking I was ignoring them! 💕 If you want to follow my personal feed, where I post more info about my IIH, you can catch me over at @mycolorfreediary ✨💕🌈 Thanks friends! Heeey! If you have been watching my stories you will know that I had surgery on Wednesday. This was me straight after the surgery- riding high 🤣. They went in behind and below my left ear and removed part of my c1 vertebrae that was trapping a vessel (flick through the pictures to see, unless you’re squeamish!). The hope is that it will improve the ‘flow’. • I’ve been doing well but the pain and bruising is starting to develop so I mustn’t get ahead of myself. The bonus of all this is that my house is FULL of flowers 💐 love love love. Lee has a bunch of flowers waiting for me when I got home. He has been incredible. • A big thank you to those who have already shown me support.
