natasha x reader
note: this was just a huge vent fic idk. these type of fics seem to be the only thing im okay at writing. mistakes are mine as always. but i did proofread, yay!
if you want to read the original (as awful as it is) you can read it here!
wanrings: this heavily revolves around eating disorders.
i’m not tagging anyone because the content isn’t really the lightest to read.
Tumblr media
words are used everyday, everywhere – whether to describe something or someone. there’s thousands upon thousands of them.
so you were having a hard time figuring out why you were struggling so much to justify your feelings through the basis of words. it was unnerving, draining and very annoying. your emotions should be simple, right? you were either sad or happy, angry or scared. but there was something more, something unexplainable. saying you felt alone only scratched the surface of the wave of emotion that took over. it was excruciatingly painful, far worse than any physical pain you ever had to endure. and for some reason it seemed to come crashing down at night while natasha slept peacefully. you weren't exactly sure how to express your emotions to the extent you felt them. how else was anyone supposed to understand your pain? they couldn't, not unless they could somehow shift into your body and feel your emotions themselves. but that was merely impossible as such powers do not exist. so you were inevitably stuck with words foreign to your lips. over the years you were deemed unsafe, a hazard, "an accident waiting to happen" you recall one doctor say. everyone’s eyes were on you at all times, monitoring every little movement you made. it was suffocating and at times doing more damage than good.
as an adult now you learned how freeing it could be without the fear of gaining weight or eating a bowl full of rainbow marshmallow cereal. your worth was not defined by your weight.
(at least that's what you believed prior to any relapses.) everything was going well in your life. you were a college graduate working as a psychiatric nurse and you had found love, something your teenage self could only dream of. natasha was by your side through everything. and really, the only downfall in the relationship was that she had to travel a lot for her job. but you were secure enough in your relationship not to worry or decide to call things off. in the end natasha always made up for it when she came back, so you couldn't complain too much. things were going well for you, really, they were. until they weren't. (and you didn't know why.) it happened out of nowhere. work was a little more stressful than usual, but it was nothing you couldn't handle. natasha had been away for three months, only stopping by a few times to check in on you. but again, your wife being away for so long wasn't anything new or worrisome. the two of you had followed the routine of her leaving and coming back more than a thousand times; yet somewhere along the way you lost yourself. food became less of a priority, your hunger decreased drastically, and within the first month you'd lost thirteen pounds. it truly was an accident, slipping into a full blown relapse was never part of the plan. but thirteen pounds lighter you wanted more, to feel small again. you didn't have an answer as to why you became so attached to your eating disorder, but it didn't seem like it would be letting go any time soon. the rate at which you were going natasha would most definitely be able to see a difference; not only on your weight, but in the person you once were. she'd ask what happened and why it happened, poking and prodding for an answer, but you didn't have one. so here you stood in the kitchen of your shared home, a cup of sliced fruit in one hand and your cell phone in the other. you poured the fruit into the bottom of a blender along with a spoonful of yogurt and half a cup of soy milk. another half cup of ice followed suit. while the fruit blended, you shamelessly scrolled through your instagram. there was nothing interesting going on in other people's lives, you didn't even know why you had social media in the first place. it was dumb, and quite frankly you didn't give a shit whether or not sharon went to the beach. the sound of your blender coming to a halt brought your attention back to the real world. you poured your smoothie into your water bottle. the green liquid would be your breakfast and lunch for the day - dinner was still up for debate. a soft sigh left your lips. work was beginning to feel more like a chore and less of something you enjoyed. you were quickly growing tired of it. nonetheless, you grabbed your keys and rushed out of the door.
you thought about the irony of working as a psychiatric nurse with an undealt eating disorder telling teenagers how to deal with their own issues. you felt hypocritical to say the least, especially given that all the nasty side effects were starting to make themselves known.
your hair was beginning to thin, small clumps of it already starting to fall out when you tugged a little too hard. bruises could be seen scattered left and right on your body, and you were cold. god you were cold. your fingernails were tinted blue, warmth seemingly too far out of reach. you looked ill, and it didn't go unnoticed by your coworkers.
a few hours into your shift you found yourself sitting behind the nurses station filling out paperwork. lunch had passed and when your coworker, steve, asked if you were going to eat something you lied straight through your teeth, telling him you'd grab something when the patients were eating dinner.
but steve rogers could read you like an open book. he knew you were lying because he already knew what was going on. the signs of an eating disorder were quite obvious when you were a licensed therapist. and despite your futile attempts at hiding it, everyone could tell something wasn't right.
steve played it by ear for weeks until he contacted natasha, but by then you'd already lost a considerable amount of weight. as soon as she heard the news, natasha booked the next flight home. unfortunately for her though, there was only one flight and she would have to wait two and a half weeks before being able to leave.
you didn't know it, but those were the longest two and a half weeks natasha ever had to wait.
– patients were having group therapy, so you could tune them out - not that you should, but it was hard to focus when the only two things you could think about were food and your weight.
the need to lose weight sounded so stereotypical for someone with an eating disorder, but honestly it wasn't about that. it was never about wanting to be thin. you genuinely didn't know why this was happening. the only thing you noticed was how rewarding it felt seeing the number go down, as if for you were good for becoming less. it was addictive. and it didn't help that you based your entire worth on how much you could lose.
the next time you stood up from behind the nurses station steve met you in the the cafeteria. while the patients ate you took occasional sips from your smoothie. the bottle was still full of its contents from the morning. you had completely forgotten to drink it during the day, but you didn't seem to mind it that much.
the surprise touch of steve's hand on your shoulder startled you.
i am gross, you thought. do not do that.
steve caught onto the slight flinch your body produced as a reflex, but he didn't say anything about it.
"you can leave early, boss said so."
he laughed as he saw confusion plaster your face.
"what? no!"
"go home, seriously. we have this handled. you know tony doesn't like being told no."
you bit your lip, puzzled by the sudden request. most people wouldn't mind being sent home early, but all it did for you was give you a level of anxiety reserved for food.
what you didn't know was that natasha was home waiting for your arrival. she came back just short of an hour after you left for work.
while you were gone natasha made a few thorough rounds in the house looking for key signs of your eating disorder. there was bound to be evidence given that you didn't know she was home.
unsurprisingly, natasha found a glass scale beside the counter of the bathroom floor along with empty bottles of laxatives in the trashcan. the food in the fridge had been expired a few days past their date, giving her the indication that you weren't eating as much as you should be. her concern grew even more when she found your food journal on your nightstand. flipping the pages, natasha could see that throughout the moths she'd been gone your calorie intake had decreased significantly.
guilt began to gnaw at the back of her throat.
during the few days natasha stopped by, she hadn't noticed anything wrong with you. but then again she knew most people with eating disorders were very good at hiding them up until the point they were discovered. three days wasn't near enough time for her to catch onto your tricks, not when her mind was still focused on her job.
natasha always listened intently whenever you would talk about your eating disorder, the first time being six months into the relationship on a date you felt like you had ruined.
but talking about it was much different than experiencing it with you, natasha had never done that before up until now. she read nearly every article there was about anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and ednos. sometimes when you were asleep she would watch documentaries on the disorder, always making sure to keep her volume at a low level.
the videos that hurt her the most were the ones teenagers struggling with the simple task of eating food.
(although natasha knew it wasn't that simple.)
it hurt because she knew that was you at some point in time.
upon your arrival, natasha cooked dinner. she wanted to hold onto the one sliver of hope that steve was wrong - that he was just overreacting - but she knew in her heart he was right about his assumption. however, dinner would only confirm what natasha so desperately wanted to deny.
when you walked through the door you were greeted with the overwhelming scent of food. you cringed at the thought of having to eat, but as soon as you looked up to see the redhead who'd been gone for so long your frown was washed away. a wide smile overtook your face and you rushed to jump into natasha's arms.
"i missed you so much," you whispered. "i thought you'd be gone for another few weeks?"
natasha's arms found their way around your waist as your legs wrapped around hers. "what? i can't come home early to surprise my wife?" you giggled in the crook of her neck. she smiled feeling the vibrations against her skin, happy to know that you'd missed her just as much as she missed you.
she sat you down, back facing you, she tended to the food. "you've lost weight," she commented, not missing the sharp inhale of your breath.
"how was work, nat?"
she nodded to herself. yeah, she didn't expect you to be so open on the first try.
"it was fine. dinner's ready, i made your favorite!" natasha threw a smile in your direction as she carried the plates over to the table. she had hoped to see your face light up the way it used to, but seeing the panicked look in your eyes further confirmed your relapse.
if nothing else, natasha wanted you to have a meal before she brought up the conversation.
"great... i love it, thank you nat!" your attempt at being enthusiastic failed miserably and you knew by the look she gave you, she already knew what was going on.
but throughout the meal, and despite the shakiness of your hand as it gripped the metal fork, natasha didn't say anything.
you weren't really sure which was worse; being confronted or knowing the both of you knew what the other was thinking and still not addressing it.
natasha's meal was good, you couldn't lie about that, but each bite you chewed caused the tightening in your chest to constrict further.
now you couldn't be good. or worthy. or deserving.
nat took away your plate when you were halfway through. she knew your limits, and she didn't want to push you too much out of your comfort zone.
"go change, i'll wash our dishes. meet you on the couch?"
you did as you were told, taking as long as you could to do so. except this time was different. you didn't glance in the mirror like you usually did, you chose to fully take in your figure.
what you saw was not what you expected to see. for the first time in months you saw a version of yourself that wasn't twisted and turned to be something you didn't know was real or not.
your skin was dry, hair thinned out beyond your belief, eyes sunken and dark underneath. the revelation gave you an odd feeling – was once again something unexplainable, unjustifiable by words.
good.
that was how you were supposed to feel, right? after all of this time, after the many pounds of protection and warmth lost, you were supposed to feel good.
but you didn't. and you never would.
there was something so surreal about the realization of your own destruction. you were aware now, which meant you had to either take responsibility or choose to lose everything you worked so hard for.
"y/n?"
your wife's voice snapped you out of your gaze and you scrambled to pile your dirty clothes and rush out of the bedroom.
as you made your way into the living room you could feel the intensity of natasha's gaze. any other time you would not mind her green eyes looking at you, but this time around you felt like you were in trouble.
she patted the empty spot next to her, to which you reluctantly joined. but even after everything you still tried to play it cool.
"what's up? is everything okay?"
she gave a low chuckle, "you tell me."
"what do you mean?"
"oh i think you know what i mean."
natasha’s reply was met with the loudest silence you ever had to sit through.
she bit her lip, "you know i got a call from steve a few weeks ago. he's concerned about you, and from what he's told me so am i."
you were quick to respond, automatically knowing what steve’s phone call was about. "i'm fine. so what if i've lost a couple of pounds? that doesn't automatically mean that im relapsing, natasha."
your quick snap reminded natasha that this kind of confrontation was like walking on eggshells.
she tilted her head, licking her lips. "i'm here with you, always." nat put a hand to the side of your face, gently rubbing her thumb at the top of your cheekbone. "i'm here."
it seemed pointless now to try and say anything because your secret was already out.
your mind began racing back and forth.
you wanted to keep what you knew best and natasha understood that. even by reading your body language she knew what you were debating.
"you know, to keep it you have to give it away." your eyes darted to meet hers. "mhm. you can still have that piece of you. mourn it, grieve it, do whatever you need to do to move onto a stage where it doesn't hurt you. and from there you can help other people, share your experience, let yourself heal by helping others."
she paused, “we all have choices. some of those choices are taken from you while others leave you with only one option.”
although what she said seemed to resonate with you, there was one thing still holding you back.
"i just want to be good."
natasha hummed. you had explained it to her in the past, though your words were jumbled together as you tried to describe it.
"you can be good in other ways. you're allowed to live a life outside of the barriers your eating disorder puts in the way."
you swallowed the lump in the back of your throat. "i don't even know how it got to this point. in january i enjoyed ihop and dennys. in february i could have oatmeal and bananas, sometimes half of a sandwhich if i was feeling brave. now it’s march and i only eat one or two things a day. the idea of having a full meal makes me want to cry. and i just- i don't know how to stop."
natasha wouldn't show it, but your words cut through her heart like a knife. her mind wandered briefly to all the teenagers in the documentaries she'd watched, hoping you weren't too far gone into your eating disorder to ever come back. those cases scared her the most.
"you've got my complete support. you've tackled this before, maybe this time you can beat it? i know its easier to abuse your body instead of growing comfortable in it, but i think you’ve got this. i know you do."
"what about your work?" your question caused natasha to frown. "you think i wouldn't set my job aside for you?" you shrugged, it's not like you felt like you were worth being taken care of anyway.
natasha grew hesitant to tell you her news, but did it anyway because she’d rather you hate her than see you dead. "i've already made some appointments for you. the first one is tomorrow morning."
"i figured you would natasha. it's okay."
you spaced yourself out the rest of the day. each time you made the executive decision to recover, whether that be a genuine recovery or not, the process never failed to remind you that even trying to recover from an eating disorder felt like mourning the loss of a friend who was never good for you in the first place.

Half of the things that regarding Tam in Kotlc frustrate me honestly. It feels like he’s pushed aside in the series so frequently, and I feel like this really peaked when he was in the Neverseen in Legacy. First off, it kinda rubbed me the wrong way the way that half of the characters were acting like Tam betrayed them? And maybe I just horribly misread the scene in which he was taken to the Neverseen, but I would not say that was a consensual decision, like at all. Gisela basically just said “Hey come with me or I’m making an entire species extinct and killing your sister.” like that’s manipulation that’s not what an honest decision looks like. I just felt so bad for him because he was borderline kidnapped by this awful group and it felt like no one was taking it seriously. Sophie reached out to him once on her own, and then once again when Linh pushes her to. That’s about all she did to try to help Tam for pretty much the entire book, unless I’m forgetting something. It just frustrates me, especially considering how much she did to try to figure out who her parents were during that book. This isn’t a thing against Sophie, it’s just that the things she did during that book kinda make it seem like Sophie being able to get a matchmakers list is more important than Tam being kidnapped. I don’t know, I just feel bad for Tam it always feels like he’s getting the short end of the stick when he seems like he’s one of the characters who would need support the most? I mean, he’s got so much to deal with and half of his scenes just feel like “here’s a scarring situation for you Tam! Now go back home to Linh or something.” Also, the way they described Tam being chained and mind-controlled actually made me sick that’s really horrific. (Also I don’t know where to put this, but characters keep acting like Tam’s super-ultra edgy and I don’t really see it? This is probably just me, but he’s always seemed more like a really stressed out person to me, not necessarily edgy. This might just be because he’s in a stressful situation in like 80% of the scenes he’s in.) I’ll be honest, Tam just kind of feels like a punching-bag character half the time.
tam is one of my favorite characters so i'm looking forward to this one, nonsie
I do feel that Tam's situation was treated very similarly to Keefe's, though there was actually a lot differentiating the two, which makes it feel weird. To summarize, Keefe ran away to the Neverseen, actively making that choice, and Sophie decided to trust him with that decision. She thought it was dumb and that they'd have to rescue him, but it had been his choice. And she coordinated with him, reaching out nightly to see what was going on and to get a sense of how he was doing. She was actively doing what she could to monitor him and balance her other responsibilities
some of this mindset carried over into Tam, while I think he should've been approached differently. because this wasn't his choice. it wasn't coordinated, and he didn't want to be there. he wanted out, and he wanted to be out safely. My mind is linking it to that one conversation with Sophie you mentioned, the one with Linh. Specifically because he told Sophie not to reach out to him, and said "I. LIKE. IT. HERE[...]I'M EVEN MAKING FRIENDS," (Legacy 407). I think this kinda led us to the "Tam wants to be there the way Keefe did" connection that really isn't accurate. he was threatened into joining, and nothing he says after the fact will erase that.
additionally, while Tam was with the Neverseen, Gethen was back and could search his mind, which was why Sophie didn't reach out to him more than twice. it was a risk that could put Tam in direct danger, and he wouldn't know when it was coming and couldn't agree to that risk. so if the two paths of action we're applying to Keefe and tam are to try and physically remove them from the situation or keep tabs on them, since contacting him is off the table, you'd think they'd focus more heavily on trying to get him back. but they...didn't.
I agree with your assessment of her priorities as well. i don't fault her for trying to figure out who her bio parents are or for wanting to explore matchmaking, i'm judging her for her timing. because she's consistently been very motivated by her friends and keeping them safe, it feels a little off that she prioritized matchmaking over Tam's physical safety. i know the love triangle and romantic drama has a lot of draw for some of the younger fandom base, but I feel as though it was prioritized too much and actually betrayed some of Sophie's key values for publicity.
and going back to the "he always draws the short end of the stick," thing, I think you're exactly right. i honestly can't think of any scenes off the top of my head with Tam where he's allowed to just be a teenager and take a break. There's always drama with him, which I think in part comes from the "sarcastic dark aesthetic friend" he's kinda gotten boxed into. he's there to be dry and pessimistic and further the conversation. note: he doesn't actually seem like a dry/dark outlook person as much as a lot of us (myself included sometimes) make him out to be. yes, he uses a lot of sarcasm, but that's not synonymous with dark and edgy.
to me he sounds like..,bitter? and resigned? and just generally annoyed to be there but doesn't want to show it. i don't think that makes sense so let me expand on it. he feels like when one friend of yours has invited you into a group of theirs friends (none of whom you know) and you're just kinda existing in the same space but are slightly uncomfortable and don't know what to do with yourself, but you don't want to let it show and risk offending anyone. you talk and fake your way through it but it feels off and you just don't like it and don't want to be uncomfortable anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually has a lot of anxiety that everyone around him just doesn't pick up on
his life changed drastically very quickly and he doesn't have a lot of friends. sure, there's the group, but they're not friends in that way. tell me, can you think of one person Tam would tell his worries or fears to? I can't. the most obvious might be linh, but I don't believe he'd tell her, because he'd want to protect her instead of burdening her with his worries. I think he's tied to her a lot and seen as a package deal in a lot of canon--and frequently in fanon--so it can be hard to separate them at times,
I might be jumping around a little, but back to the chains. those are incredibly fucked up, and I don't think they're given the appropriate emotional response they deserved. this is a teenager who has been physically chained for all hours of the day, for weeks. and he's just living with it, knowing he can't take them off. and when Sophie learns and tells Mr. Forkle, his response is that he's never heard of something like that before and would need to research it. Like?? excuse me?? one of the minors you let swear fealty to your organization is literally chained and you're 1. not trying to get him back 2. just saying you need to research it.
that's another thing! everything I remember (and I might be forgetting something) is the teenagers talking about Tam being missing and how they need a plan and want him back. But there are several adults in his life now who could step forward to take that responsibility. Tiergan. Mr. Forkle, Squall, the bodyguards, any dwarves working with the Black Swan, etc. You know, these adults with loads more resources and people at their disposal. they could do something, organize something, make an effort. A child was kidnapped and it feels like they went "wow that sucks. hope we get him back. anyways--" idk. that's just something that's bothered me.
he just keeps getting hurt again and again. it's like that's all we focus on with his character, him being sarcastic and dark in stressful situations and not him just existing. we see him fighting with his parents, fighting with the neverseen, being teased and singled out when he's around Keefe, like can he catch a break? can we just let him smile for once?
I, for one, think he deserves to be more than just a punching bag, nonsie

Ask Answers: January 28th, 2021 (Part 1)
And we’re back with many more ask answers! Thank you for waiting.
Is lizzie/the main character tripping over a rock a random event in barbecue? or does it require certain choices? i picked the same choices in multiple different playthroughs but ended up with three different outcomes (1. nothing happens 2. liz trips 3. i trip)
Yep! It’s completely random. Just a little moment of life you don’t have control over, haha.
wait just double checking you stated that derek would be another romantic interest you can pursue in step 4 right??? im just asking cuz hes my fav character
oh wait and btw i was the one that asked the question about derek being in the step 4 just now, and will you have to pay extra for like a dlc or something bc i play the free version rn and i just wanted to check!!
Yeah, you will eventually be able to romance him, but unfortunately it is a paid DLC. Cove is the only love interest who’s entirely free-to-play. You can  follow our social media for when we giveaways for a chance to win a key for it, though.
i know that y’all said the step 3 dlc and step 4 will be released early 2021, is there any update to that? for example, a rough amount of days/weeks until release? no pressure at all, i’m super excited!! <3
The Step 3 DLC will be about in maybe two-two and half months or so. Step 4, we’re not entirely sure. Maybe a few months after the Step 3. We don’t want to give set dates until we’re really close to the release since otherwise we wouldn’t be able to 100% guarantee them.
First off love the game. Second I'm a little confused on how the nsfw dlc is gonna work. Because based on some stuff you've said it sounds like a patreon only thing and others make me think it could be an itch/steam thing after the fact? Would you mind clarifying for me 😅. Also if it's a patreon only thing do you need to become one before it's released?
It’s not going to be on Steam/Itch. The actual game of Our Life is safe for teens with no adult content. Any 18+ stuff we’re releasing is separate bonus content. Right now the only for sure plan is having it available through Patreon. If there’s another hosting site that’s not Steam or Itch that’d be easier for people than Patreon we might consider uploading it there too, but nothing else is set.
If you want the bonus Moment you’d have to join once it’s already out or sometime after the release. Joining now would get you our current rewards, but wouldn’t get you future content that’s coming later.
this is probably an awkward question and i apologize, feel free not to answer, but i just wanted to address the elephant in the room....will step 4 acknowledge covid/2020 world events?? i kind of hope not bc i'd like to just exist in a fictional version of the world where things are happy in this quaint seaside town and the world isn't falling apart, but i'd understand if there are some references to it. just thought i'd ask so i can Prepare if that makes sense
Step 4 isn’t going to include Covid or even reference it. When we set Step 4 in that year we definitely didn’t know there’d be a global pandemic during it. It’s too late to move the timeframe earlier or later, but we’re not going to make Step 4 stressful for anyone because the real world became so much more stressful. The universe of Our Life will just be an even more idealized place than it was before.
hiiiii! i'm really sorry if this is a bother. i was just curious if cove has a canon setting for each step, like is it canon that he stays candid the whole game and is super sporty for instance and the rest are variations? thank you for your time!
None of those settings are canon. They’re all equally valid.
I love the game and Cove so much that I ended up spending most of the holidays playing it. Definitely worth it! Idk if you're taking suggestions/criticisms, but I chose the peach skin tone and seeing it written as "my peach skin" in the game broke immersion for me because I kept thinking it was referring to the fruit instead of my skin color. I think that skin color is most commonly referred to as "fair" but "peachy" or "rosy" would work too if you're looking for a different word
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’ll change it to “peachy” in the next update!
So I accidentally overwrote a save file with a different one, is there any way I can recover that save?
Sadly, there isn’t. Not unless you had a backup of the actual save file files in a separate location you can get. I’m really sorry. You can try using the skip feature to quickly speed through the game and get back to where you were though.
Do you try to maintain the color scheme for the clothing throughout the years in Our Life?
Yes, though in hindsight not as much as I wished I did, haha. It could’ve been a little more cohesive. It was a bit too broad in my opinion.
I noticed that Cliff mentions he wasn’t much older than Cove before finding out he was going to be a father when he finds MC in bed with Cove during Part 3 so doesn’t that Cliff and Kyra were teenage/young parents?
Yeah, Cliff was nineteen and Kyra was eighteen when Cove was born. They were just a couple of kids.
Does Cove have a favourite holiday?
It changes depending on the year. Around Step 1 he’s not a huge fan of a lot of holidays because he’s not together with his whole family for them. But once he’s older and Kyra comes around more, he starts appreciating major family holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas more than other holidays because he knows how it feels not to have that. Though summer vacation is of course his most favorite all the time, if that counts as a “holiday”.
I tried to join your patreon but I can’t seem to? The website keeps saying something went wrong and to try again.
I’m sorry you’re having trouble! I think contacting Patreon support would probably be the best option if the joining process itself is having issues.
How much is it to become a part of your Patreon? I don’t have a lot of money currently but would love to help you out more than just buying the games and dlcs.
Aw, I appreciate you wanting to support but the Patreon is really optional. You don’t need to push yourself to join if you don’t have extra funds for it. To still answer the question, the tiers are $1, $5, $10, $15, and $20 in USD. Each come with different perks.
I had this idea for a future daughter for the MC and Cove being named "Poppy", after the flowers on their hill~
That’s a really sweet idea! I’m sure Cove would be a fan.
So if you don't mind me asking, how do you get Cove to propose to you in Step 4 and not the other way around?
I’m afraid that’d be too big of a spoiler to give away before the epilogue’s release, at least in terms of specifics. Generally you’ll just have to be patient and try not to propose first, haha.
will we get to move in with cove in step 4 😮?? or is that a secret
You can be living together with Cove in Step 4! Though you wouldn’t get to see the place itself. That’s up to your imagination.
Is it bad that I'm completely in love with Cove's dad... What I gotta pay to romance Cliff 😭 (I don't mean as Jamie because that would be wack)
That’ll cost one million 20 twenty dollar bills, haha. I’m really glad you like him, though sadly we aren’t able to make a separate game where you can romance Cliff. I wish we had enough time to make tons of new scenes/extra stories in the Our Life world, but it just takes too long. Maybe people will make fanworks about it.

I realised recently that I never actually collated all the ideas I had about my Zutara kids so here, have some steambabies! Idk I just really like the idea of Katara and Zuko having a big family after all they’ve lost when they were young, and as an only child, I guess I kind of romanticise the idea of having siblings.
TW: I hc that Katara would have had a miscarriage, so if that is a trigger for you then maybe don’t read on.
Shameless plug but if you wanna read more about this, my series on AO3 is roots and wings.
Their firstborn is a boy who they name Kai after Kya. His full name is Kaito but nobody who knows him ever calls him that, not even when he’s in trouble. I’m not going to go into too much context about like the pregnancy bc you can already find that stuff here. He turns out very much like Zuko physically - tall, golden irises, straight black hair, narrow angular face - but he has mixed tawny skin and his eyes are shaped round and wide like Katara. He’s born on the last day of summer in 109 AG, so because of superstition that firebenders are born in peak summer, there’s some uncertainty about what he’ll bend - if at all - but then when he’s three and a half, he makes a flame. Iroh trains him to firebend until he’s about 16, then he goes off to the Sun Warriors for a year to finish off, and he ends up a very spiritual firebender. Kai is like the dream first child - the softest boy ever to live - and when Katara and Zuko go on to have more children, he’s a really great big brother, like wholeheartedly adores his little sibs even if they drive him completely nuts about 95% of the time. He’s quite a conflicted and confused kid growing up. He’s never quite sure of what he wants in life but finally, when he’s 17, he decides that he realises that he doesn’t want to be Fire Lord and passes along the heir status to his sister. After that he joins the Sun Warriors and eventually marries the chief’s daughter, Himari, and they have two firebender girls, Aiko and Sol.
Izumi arrives not long after her brother in 110 AG. Katara and Zuko planned to wait but it ends up that there’s barely a year between Kai and Izumi and it comes as an extra shock as Katara didn’t figure out she was pregnant again till like 18 weeks in. Katara goes into labour early at 35 weeks and Izumi is born really small - she never completely catches up either and it’s hilarious because after successive generations of tall male Fire Lords, they get Izumi who’s barely 5 feet - but she’s otherwise fine. She’s physically a mish-mash so overall she resembles nobody especially - Katara’s hair, complexion and big round eyes, Zuko’s irises, Azula’s heart-shaped face and highly arched brow line, Hakoda’s facial features. The superstition about summer births for firebenders peters out real quick when Izumi, born in the autumn, bends blue fire at two and a half and, taught by Jeong Jeong, she grows into a prodigal master. When she’s young, Izumi is the polar opposite of her brother - feisty, stubborn, determined and whip smart - and she’s a heathen teenager but by about 15 she mellows and matures, and part of Kai’s reasoning for abdicating is that Izumi seems a better fit for Fire Lord. Izumi was always kinda apathetic to kids but at 19, she accidentally gets pregnant and has her son, Kazuo, then her daughter, Kira, eleven years later. Izumi becomes Fire Lord at 37 but she only rules for about 14 years before retiring. Since she had Kaz so young, if she stayed on the throne much longer, Kaz would also be an older man when it came time for him to inherit, so she decides to step aside and Kaz is coronated just after his 33rd birthday.
(Kazuo takes after his Gran Gran in more ways than just his blue eyes; he’s a waterbender so Kaz is the first waterbender Fire Lord)
After a break, Katara and Zuko decide to try for a third addition and Katara gives birth - in the Southern Water Tribe, for the first time - to Bashira, four years after Izumi. Shira looks probably the most like Zuko out of all the children, even more than her elder brother does. They share the same tall and lean physique, the same long black hair, Shira is mixed but still the palest of all the steambabies and their faces are practically identical. They’re characteristically very similar, too - serious, intense and reserved. The only differences is that her hair is curly, her eyes are blue and finally, Katara gets her waterbending child. Both of them suspected that Shira was going to be a waterbender even at the early stages of the pregnancy, but it’s still super exciting when Shira tosses a wave at her elder siblings when she’s two. Katara is teaching her as soon as she possibly can but over time some tension develops between them when Shira turns out to be quite different from her mom in terms of natural bending style. Shira is very fight-oriented, she learns dao swords from Zuko and never shows as much of an interest in the healing arts, but when things blow up and eventually Shira is able to explain that she wants to be able fight like her mom did during the war, things straighten out and Katara guides Shira all the way through to mastery. She eventually moves to the South in her late teens to lead the tribe’s warriors. There, she has three children - waterbender twins Kenzo and Kenji, then a daughter named Kanna who’s a firebender like Grandpa - but the marriage to their father doesn’t last and in her 50s, she ends up in a relationship with Aang and Toph’s daughter, Lin.
Katara gets pregnant for a fourth time - planned - just after Shira turns two, but this time she has a miscarriage. Zuko was overseas when it happened so she went through it alone. Katara is devastated and resents Zuko for not being there. She knows it’s not his fault but she can’t help her emotions and that makes her feel even worse so she just shuts down - stops doing her Fire Lady work, stops spending any more time with Zuko and their children than necessary, won’t let the rest of the family visit them and spends most of the day lying in bed. Zuko doesn’t know how to help her so initially he decides to give her space to grieve however she feels she needs to, but it just deteriorates until one day Zuko suggests that maybe they should both go to therapy or marriage counselling or something because it can’t go on like this. Katara just completely loses it at that and ends up yelling at him all the things that she’d been bottling up over the last couple of months. Katara says some awful things and she’s expecting Zuko to take it poorly, hence why she kept it all inside up till now, but Zuko just accepts every bit of it and after that, she’s finally able to grieve properly and mend.
About six months after they come back together, they decide to try again and Katara eventually falls pregnant. The pregnancy itself goes smoothly but both of them are so stressed about something going wrong like last time and the effect that might have on both of them, then Gran Gran passes away when Katara is in her thirtieth week, so the full ten months were incredibly hard-going.
It’s a big relief when the baby is finally born on Ember Island, three years after Shira in 117 AG. They name her Lili in honour of their recent losses, since lilies can ease scars and Iroh once referred to them as lights in darkness. From the beginning, Lili is the image of Katara in every way physically and characteristically - kind, patient, gentle, but does have quite a temper if she’s pushed too far. She’s also a waterbender, though it takes her a little longer to manifest her abilities than any of her siblings, first gaining control of the water at the age of six. Lili is incredibly endearing, as both a child and an adult, and she becomes so particularly popular with the Fire Nation public that the firebending qualification to be considered an heir to the throne is reversed, so Shira and Lili are inducted into the succession. Born in the same year, Lili had a long-term relationship with Tenzin, Aang and Toph’s thirdborn, but as they grew older, Tenzin was concerned that if he married her, their children would have heritage of all four elements and degrade the chances of Tenzin producing airbenders and continuing the Air Nation. That concern resulted in a kind of on-again-off-again thing but eventually Lili sent him off with an "I don’t want to be with someone that isn’t even sure he wants me" and went travelling the world for a few years. When they’re both in their thirties though, Lili and Tenzin reconnect and get back together, eventually marrying and producing five children - Jinora, Aya, Hiro, Rohan and Kano, the elder four airbenders and the youngest a waterbender.
A few months after Lili is born, Sokka and Suki have a baby girl and when Katara and Zuko go to visit their new niece, they agree that night on a spur-of-the-moment that they want one more child. The morning after, they talk about it properly and decide it’d be better to wait till Lili was a bit older, but Katara found out six weeks later that that one time had been successful. About halfway through, they find out that they’re expecting a boy and Katara is especially excited since their son had always been more closely attached to her whereas their girls were very firmly Daddy’s girls. Sure enough, when Kallik arrives in 118 AG, he’s a big Mama’s boy and remains so his entire life. Apart from his curly black hair, Kallik is the spitting image of his uncle, to the point that Hakoda says that seeing Lili and Kallik together is like seeing young Katara and Sokka. Kallik is the hardest to handle out of their children - loud, playful, mischievous and an exhausting troublemaker. All of the siblings fight like cat and dog but Kallik and Izumi are by far the worst, on the level of one walks into a room and the other is like “And I took that personally” and they never seem to grow out of it even when they’re both old and grey. Kallik is the only nonbender in the family and initially he struggles with this a bit but he spends a lot of time hanging out with Uncle Sokka, learns dao swords with Shira and Zuko, and by the time he hits his teens, he comes to view it more as something that sets him apart from his siblings. When he’s 18, he goes to join the United Forces and he stays in service till his late thirties, when he meets Ren, another serviceman from the Northern Water Tribe. After beginning a relationship with him, the pair settle in Republic City and end up adopting two daughters, Kirima and Alasie.
About a decade after Kallik is born, it seems like things are kind of slowly drawing to a close as the kids are getting older - Kai is 19 and has left home, Izumi is 18 and living away in Republic City while she studies at university, Shira is 14 and already talking about moving South the first chance she gets, Lili is 11 and wanting to go Northern Water Tribe to train with the healers there, and Kallik is 10 and dreaming of being a great military commander like Grandpa Koda and Uncle Sokka - when suddenly Katara starts to get really, really sick. Zuko is absolutely terrified, thinking that there’s something seriously wrong with his wife, but after some deduction, it turns out that Katara is actually pregnant again. The relief at realising she’s not dying is short-lived and the reaction from both of them is basically holy shit holy fuck we are too old for this our other kids are practically all grown up now we are done with babies we can't seriously have six children what are we going to do. There’s a lot of discussion, especially since Katara is 43 by then and the risks for her to be carrying another child are higher, but they ultimately decide to go through with it. Ironically, it’s the easiest of all her pregnancies and when Katara delivers a baby girl in Republic City in 128 AG, there hadn’t been a single complication to speak of. Iroh had passed away two years earlier, devastating the whole family but Zuko in particular, but the baby is born with his irises - a darker gold - so they name her Ilah. Her eyes are big and round like Katara’s but other than that, Ilah resembles her Grandma Ursa most strongly, with her thick chestnut-coloured hair and slight, delicate facial features. Naturally, Katara and Zuko think all their babies were the cutest baby but Ilah is probably objectively the cutest, with her big honey-coloured eyes, chubby cheeks and soft little curls.
Inevitably, since Kai, Shira, Lili and Kallik had all either left home before she was born or did so when she was still a little girl, Ilah gets a lot more concentrated attention from Katara and Zuko. She’s completely spoiled and doted upon by the whole family, including her elder brothers and sisters who visit her as often as they can manage. Since Izumi still lives in the palace permanently as the Crown Princess, she and Ilah are close, but Ilah ultimately ends up being closest with Izumi’s son, Kaz, who is only a year younger than his aunt. Ilah was even in the room when Kaz was born, though it wasn't an intentional move. Zuko was supposed to be watching Ilah when things got intense with Izumi’s labour but things escalated from 0-100 real fast and Katara didn't have time to hand Ilah off, so she stayed tucked in a sling on her mother’s back as Katara helped her eldest daughter to deliver her own baby, somehow sleeping through all the noise and commotion. Ilah and Kaz end up more like a brother and sister or best friends than an aunt and nephew, though Kaz always calls her Auntie Ilah when he’s teasing her. Ilah is perhaps the shyest around strangers of her siblings, uninterested in celebrity and attention, but she’s the most adventurous, determined and creative, interested in science and invention from an early age. Growing up, Ilah felt a little pressured by the renown of her family, especially when her firebending turned out to be just about average in power, but when she’s 12, Ilah figures out that she can combustionbend. From there, she applies her bending abilities to science and when she leaves home for university, she invents the combustion engine at age 20. The rest of her adult life is spent travelling virtually non-stop, working on innovation projects for the different nations. She never has children, on the account that it would be unfair to expect a kid to move around as much as she does and she’s happy enough with her numerous nieces and nephews, but she eventually marries her long-time girlfriend Li-Mei, an Air Nomad tasked with searching the world for new airbenders.

Slippery Slopes Pt.2
Part two y’all! Sorry it’s late, I’ve been busy. Should be one more part to finish this up!
Tag list: @samanthadalton @fundamentalromantic @avalawrencefl @penda-bear @queen-arabella-of-cordonia @kamilahsayeet2063
It had been an interesting 24 hours since the accident on the slopes yesterday. No word had been passed on about Emma and that left her suitors restless. Mason couldn’t cope with the fact that his father or ex best friend had committed such a cruel act that hurt Emma.
Noah couldn’t believe he was even in this situation. He should have never trusted Jennings but he let his guard down for the sake of the trip and Emma, and this is what he got. He was looking at charges for trespassing and endangerment while Principal Jennings seemed to be clearing his name.
Mack couldn’t stop pacing, Dr. Price was doing an awful job of updating his own daughter on her sisters progress. Ava wasn’t fairing much better. She had organized their room over and over trying to make sure it’s perfect for when Emma came back to the lodge.
It was just a sit tight and stand ready type of situation. None of them had a personal car available, so trapped at the lodge they were.
Ava stopped her cleaning when she heard a cellphone go off, to no surprise it was hers and the caller was Bayla. She grumbled and put the phone back down, she had called 4 times already today. Ava couldn’t bring herself to talk to her girlfriend knowing Emma was hurt in the hospital. She would sound weak, vulnerable, all red flags Bayla didn’t need right now.
Another call rang out across the house, this time it was Mack’s phone, and judging by her facial reactions, it was with her father. Mack nodded enthusiastically and ended the call, yelling out to find Mason.
“Emma is ready to come back here, dad said she will be ok, we need to go and pick her up. Spare keys are in his room, I’ll grab them and we can go.”
“What all was wrong?” Ava rushed out of the room and into the foyer.
“He didn’t say. I guess we will know when we all get back.” Mack said noticing the gloom placed on Ava’s features. “She’s gonna be alright.”
Ava went and tidied up the room once more and without knowing what Emma would require, she just cluttered the entire nightstand with odd and ends eliminating the guessing.
The front door slamming was her queue to come running, she leaned over the balcony railing only to see Jennings and Noah.
“I don’t know how you got those signs in my bag old man, but this isn’t over.” Noah hissed shoving his way past Principal Jennings.
“Maybe you should think twice before doing illegal activities. You’re never going to learn trailer trash.” Jennings barked stopping Noah dead in his tracks.
Jennings was an asshole. This dude seemed to get off on making teenagers lives miserable. The tension was unbearable.
“I know you knew about the course being closed. I just can’t figure out why you’d try to hurt Emma. You’re a sick bastard and if I go down, you’re coming with me.” Noah said inching up into Jennings face.
The scene was split up when Mack came through the door. Mason in tow pushing an unconscious Emma in a wheelchair. She had a cast on her leg and looked so cold. Dave brought up the rear looking like hell. Looks like sleep wasn't an option for him either.
“Ah yes there she is. How did everything go?” Jennings asked unfazed of what transpired.
Mason ignored him and tried to walk past to the staircase with Emma sleeping.
“I said how did everything go?” Jennings said jerking Mason back almost causing him to fall. Noah shoved Jennings aside helping to stabilize Mason so Emma wouldn’t fall out of the chair.
“Ask Mr. Price dad! Let go of me, Emma needs to be in bed!” Mason snapped shoving his fathers hands away from him.
Jennings jumped at the outburst and gritted his teeth, turning to Dave. “Let’s talk in the kitchen, I’ll have the Chef whip up some coffee.”
With the adults gone and the room de-stressed, Noah assisted Mason in carrying Emma up to her room, Ava steering clear of them until Emma was placed in bed.
“Ok boys thank you. I can handle her from here.” Ava shot out shoving them aside to check on Emma.
The boys looked to each other confused but didn’t say anything about the outburst. Mason needed his own rest and Noah had a busy day ahead of him with Jennings and the ski patrol assholes.
“Just let us know when she wakes alright? Mr. Price has her medicine.” Mason said closing the door leaving Ava alone with a sleeping Emma.
Ava had no clue why she wanted the privacy with Emma. She was a taken woman and Emma was her bestie. Nothing else, she tried to convince herself.
But the longer she sat and stared at Emma, the more her heart pounded, the more she wanted to wake her and kiss her all better. The thoughts of such activities made her dizzy and she had to get away. But it was Emma, she had this way of keeping her grounded and for the life of her, Ava couldn’t drag herself away.
So she continued to sit in silence, begging for Emma to wake up, because quite frankly? She didn’t look too well.
Ava easily got up and slipped out of the room and looked for Mr. Price. She heard some quiet commotion from the kitchen, what a shock.
“Now you listen here Jim, I don’t know how it happened, all I know is my little girl just underwent a major leg surgery after she took place in your little race.”
“Now I know how it looks Dave, I’m quite sorry that it happened, but Mr. Harris is the culprit here. I should have known not to place trust in him. What a terrible thing, taking down those signs.”
Noah heard his name and flew into the kitchen,
“I told you Jennings! I didn’t take down any signs!”
“Quiet scum! Adults are talking here! Don’t you have a meeting with the ski patrol?” Jim teased.
“I don’t know how you twisted this on me, but I’ll get you back.” Noah inched closer so only Jennings could here, “Maybe I should call off our deal?”
Whatever was said, Jennings went pale and cleared his throat. Removing himself from the conversation.
“Mr. Price?” Ava said entering the room. “Emma is still asleep. And she’s so pale, she looks sick.”
“I feared that. It’s her medication, she should be awake anytime now for another dose. Here, please give her one of these when she awakes. I’m going to get some rest.” Mr. Price said handing over the medicine.
Ava returned to the room with the meds and hot tea to find Emma slowly awaking.
“Hello sleepy head.” Ava rushed over with a smile.
“Where am I?” Emma groggily spoke out.
“Back in the bedroom with good ol me.”
Emma rubbed at her eyes trying to get them to open, “Are you an angel?”
Ava snorted, “Oh now you wanna shoot your shot huh.”
“Worth a try.” Emma laughed. “I feel terrible.”
“You look it.” Ava agreed dodging the pillow Emma tossed.
“Here Mahomes, here’s your pill and I made your favorite tea.” Ava giggled as she sat down next to Emma to help her take the meds and give her a sip of tea.
“Psh, Mahomes wishes he had this cannon for an arm.” Emma tried laughing but she done exhausted herself.
“Relax, you just underwent surgery. I’m actually impressed they released you so quickly.”
“Perks of having a doctor for a dad. I’m not about that hospital food.”
The two sat in silence for a moment while Emma sipped her tea. It was so nice just the two of them, Ava had Emma all to herself, no intruders, no boys, and no Bayla. Crap....Bayla was still her girlfriend.
Ava came to and realized she was stroking Emma’s delicate hair, resting her hand on Emma’s soft cheek. She quickly composed herself and stood abruptly, creating as much distance as possible.
What was this? What were they? Friends? More than friends? Ava knew what the answer should be, but the timing was terrible. Bayla was her own girlfriend, and Emma had her own issues.
A text shot through to Ava’s phone, it was Bayla. “Speak of the devil.” Ava whispered. She had been putting her off for long enough and by judging by the text she received, Bayla wasn’t happy.
“Ava?” Emma called out oblivious to Ava’s aggressive texting.
Ava turned immediately to face her, “Yeah?”
“Where are the boys?”
Ava doesn’t know why, but with her issues with Bayla and her feelings for Emma, hearing her ask for the boys really added fuel to her blazing fire.
“Idk. Mason is resting and Noah and Jennings are with the ski patrol.”
Emma could hear the aggression in Ava’s voice, but she couldn’t tell if it was at her texting or towards her about her question.
“Is everything alright Ava?”
“Yeah. It’s just Bayla. She’s bugging me because I haven’t responded in awhile.”
“Oh. I wonder what has her in a twist.” Emma asked innocently.
Ava knew why. She told Bayla before she left the arrangement, so naturally she had to keep tabs on her at all times. Trust between the two were slipping, but Ava wasn’t helping her cause and Emma wasn’t either. “Because that’s what a good girlfriend does!” Ava snapped surprising Emma. “She’s just concerned!”
“Oh. I understand, I’m sorry.” Emma apologized.
“No Emma you don’t! You don’t understand and you never will!” Ava said slamming her phone down on the counter and stomping towards the door.
Something told Emma deep within this was more than just Bayla being worried, she couldn’t help but think this was all her fault and the reason Ava was upset.
Ava had to get out and breathe, she loved Emma, but she couldn’t take her indecisiveness. She couldn’t stand competing for her hand any longer, it was time to set the record straight. She stepped back in to grab her phone before heading back out again.
“Where are you going?” Emma tried.
“I’ve got a phone call to make.”

Betting on You (pt 3)
Previous Parts: Part 1 Part 2
Full Masterlist
Tumblr media
That was probably the best first date you had ever been on. And you had your handful of those. Was it because you weren’t expecting Taehyung to even call you in the first place? Or was it because...the date was actually that fun?
You were mostly surprised by how much you both just ended up talking for most the night especially since he didn’t seem to really talk all that much the night before at the club. And that kiss? Wow.
He caught you off guard when he kissed you again in his car, and you were even more surprised when you mustered the courage to kiss him on the cheek before you left. You weren’t sure if there was going to be a second date let alone when it would be, but you were hoping it would be soon because you knew that you had feelings for Taehyung, even if it was only two days since you met the man.
You almost ran back to your apartment, blushing the entire way. You just wanted to throw yourself onto your bed and squeal like a middle school girl would have. As you were about to open the door to your apartment though, the door opened for you and someone had walked right into you, dropping a few things and causing you to drop your purse as well.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry” says the man. You both bent down to grab your things, and you finally looked at the stranger who walked out of your apartment. You probably should have been scared that someone you didn’t know was walking out of your apartment so late at night, but maybe it was the fact that he apologized or you were too happy that you didn’t really care.
“It’s fine. Hey...you’re the guy from the club last night, right? Jungkook, was it?” you asked, recognizing the stranger.
“Oh hey! You’re Yumi’s roommate right? Y/N?” Jungkook asks, glad he didn’t just run into anyone at almost 4am.  “I’m sorry for running into you like this” he says.
“No it’s fine!” you assure him. You resume picking up the items that fell out of your purse. You had way too much crap in your bag and you made a mental note to clean some of this up when you woke up in the morning.
“oh my god, is that an overwatch keychain?” Jungkook asks, as he picks up your keys for you.
“Oh, you have a good eye! Yes it is! I got it off of Etsy a while ago” you say, smiling fondly at your keychain. You probably had 5 keychains too many, always adding more to the mix, but you didn’t really care. You were surprised that Jungkook even managed to see it, let alone recognize it.
“You’re going to have to send me the link to that or something because now I want on! Do you play??” he asks, excitedly.
“I...dabble in it, sure” you say, not really wanting to come off as a nerd.
“well, if i’m ever over again, then I want to play you” he says, smiling.
“It’s on” you smile. “Things going well with Yumi?” you ask.
“I mean, we’re just starting to get to know one another” he says, truthfully. “Not entirely sure where it’s going to go” he says, not really sure why he’s being honest with you.
“Of course! She’s a great girl, I’ll have you know. Don’t go breaking her heart, Jungkook” you say.
“She really is great, and that threat is duly noted” he chuckles.
“I’d love to stay and chat but it’s almost 4am. I’ll talk to you next time” you say, trying to excuse yourself.
“Oh of course. I’ll see you around, Y/N” he says, heading out.
Yumi basically jumps you in bed the next morning, bombarding you with so many questions.
“Where have you been? Why didn’t you answer your phone? Why were you dressed up? Who were you with? What did you do?” she asked, all in one breath.
“Good morning to you too, sunshine” you say, groaning. It was far too early for this, and you needed time. You had probably only been asleep for two hours before your roommate woke you up and you weren’t a morning person to say the least.
You slowly answered her questions as you got ready for work. You already knew it was going to be a long day, what with the lack of sleep and all. But yet, you still felt energetic today while thinking about last night.
“Why did you tell me you met someone at the club?!” Yumi asked, bewildered.
“It all just kind of happened so fast, Yumi! I wasn’t even sure he was going to even call me. Why would he?” you say as you put on your earrings.
“Y/n, you know you’re fucking gorgeous right? Idk why you’re the only one who can’t see that?” your friend says. It makes you smile because for the first time in a long time, you might have believed her words.
“Look at you! You’re still blushing! I’ve tried to set you up with so many guys and of course the stranger from the club is who has you a gushing mess in the morning. I don’t care though, as long as you find someone” Yumi says. “You deserve it..” she says, with a sad smile.
You look at her, and give her a reassuring smile. For the longest time, you swore of men after what happened in college. And after a few years, you yearned for someone to love. But you didn’t want to settle for anyone who didn’t make your heart skip a beat. And perhaps it was too soon to expect anything out of Taehyung, but you really hoped that you could continue to see the man with the box smile that melted your heart.
You got into work even slightly earlier than usual thanks to Yumi. From the time you swore off men, you gave it all in your career. You made the right connections and worked your way up. You were now the junior partner for one of the biggest law firms in the city. While your job was nothing but stressful, you still loved to work. It gave you the independence you have always wanted.
As you place your things down on your desk, you hear your phone ping.
Tae: I had a great time last night.
If only you could squeal at the office!
You: I did too :)
You set your phone down on the desk as you pull out all the work for today. You could hear your phone ping again and you wanted to so badly ignore it because you knew if the conversation continued, you wouldn’t be able to focus on work. But you had absolutely no self control so you grabbed your phone with a stupid smile on your face.
Tae: I’m glad to hear it. When are we going out again then, beautiful?
And like you said, you had no self control. So you did squeal at work. You just couldn’t help yourself.
You quickly made plans to see Taehyung again Wednesday night since, but you probably couldn’t wait till then. You already missed him, and you barely knew him.
You might have been an adult, but Taehyung made you feel as if you were a teenager in love.
Soon enough, Wednesday evening came around. Yumi helped you get ready, picking out a more casual outfit instead since Taehyung told you to dress comfortably. Yumi mentioned that she was probably going to spend a night in with Jungkook, since he wanted to watch a few movies with her.
You thought it was cute and you were glad that Yumi herself had found a nice guy. You could hear someone knock at the door and figuring it was Taehyung, you rushed to the door. You opened the door in a hurry, way too excited. “Hey!”
“Hi to you too” chuckled the man in front of you. “Going somewhere?” he asks.
“Oh my god, Jungkook hey!” you say, laughing. “Sorry, I was expecting someone. Here, come in” you say.
“Should I be offended?” he asks.
“No, you’re welcome here don’t get me wrong. But this girl has got a date and I really don’t want to be here while you suck Yumi’s face off sooo” you joke.
“Woah, I’m just an innocent little guy. I have no idea what you’re talking about” he jokes back.
“UH HUH. SURE” you laugh back.
“Jungkook hey!!” Yumi half screams as she sees him from the kitchen. She runs to give him a hug and he laughs at how cute she was.
“Hey princess. I got the movies. And please tell Y/n here that I’m just an innocent man. She thinks I’m going to suck your face off!” Jungkook says as he wraps his hands around Yumi’s waist.
“I mean... She’s smart for a reason” Yumi says, shyly giving Jungkook a kiss on the cheek.
“Smart huh?” Jungkook asks, intrigued.
“Y/N’s a lawyer! And the junior partner!” your roommate brags.
“wow, a lawyer who plays overwatch?” Jungkook says in awe.
“Yup, that’s me!” you say, proudly. It felt nice to be appreciated. Just then, you could hear another knock on the door. You begin to smile again, really hoping that it wasn’t just the delivery guy.
You open the door to see Taehyung standing there. He was as handsome as ever, even if he was dressed casually. “Hey there, beautiful” he says, reaching to give you a kiss on the cheek. You immediately blush, not knowing what to do.
You could hear someone squeal in the background, knowing it could be none other than Yumi.
“HI! I’m Y/n-ie’s roommate, Yumi!” she says as she reaches to give Taehyung a hug. Taehyung is taken aback, but smiles as he gives your roommate a hug too.
“Nice to meet you, Yumi. I’m Taehyung” Taehyung smiles.
“Hyung...” Jungkook says slowly. Everyone turns to look at him.
“Kook? what are you doing here” Taehyung asks, confused.
“You both know eachother? What are the odds!” Yumi bounces.
“Yeah, he’s actually one of my best friends” Jungkook says, but he wasn’t smiling as if he had just saw his best friend. He seemed somewhat concerned as he looks back and forth from you and Taehyung.
“Yeah, me and Jungkook go way back. Wow, really this is such a big coincidence” Taehyung amuses. “I’d love to stay and chat, but I promised this pretty girl a night out. I promise I’ll have her back early tonight” Taehyung says to Yumi and you could only giggle. If there was any tension in the room before, Taehyung sure made a great job of getting rid of it.
“You can keep her for as long as you like” Yumi winks.
“As much as I want to, I have a feeling Y/N is going to say no” Taehyung half jokes.
“Oh hush, let’s get going” you say as you usher Taehyung out. “Bye guys, have fun! and keep it PG for the love of god” you say, joking.
Jungkook knew. He knew about the bet. His hyungs had made it a deal to fill him in the next day since they needed to know if he was willing to bet anything himself. Thankfully, he didn’t. He might have only just met you and Yumi a few days ago, but he was really enjoying spending his time with Yumi. And talking to you was refreshing. He wanted to be good friends with you, especially after how highly Yumi always talked of you.
But after knowing that you were seeing Taehyung, he felt his heart sink. Sure, Jungkook didn’t really date much before, but he was getting tired of these meaningless one night stands. He wanted to find something meaningful and while it might now have been the best place, he found Yumi that night at the club. He just wanted to dance with her that night, but he couldn’t help himself from starting to like her.
She was likable, and so were you. He was serious when he said he wanted to play Overwatch with you. Sure, he didn’t know you long, but he knew that he didn’t want to see you get hurt. Let alone have anything mess up what he was starting to have with Yumi. Maybe he could convince Taehyung to give up on this bet.
Taehyung took you the aquarium. The aquarium.
It was full of lots of people, making the fish to human ratio smaller. But, you were in awe. During your first date, you had briefly mentioned how much you loved the aquarium and you were glad he remembered because you had been wanting to go for a while now since it had been quite a long time.
“Oh my god, look at that sea turtle!” you jumped as you went from animal to animal.
Taehyung could only smile. If you were so easily excited by such small things, then perhaps these next six months really were to be a piece of cake. And to be honest, Taehyung secretly loved animals too. He had a soft spot for animals, but he never really cared to show that side to many people.
By the time you were done with half the aquarium, you had stumbled into the gift shop by accident when you took a wrong turn at the penguin exhibit. Taehyung just followed, amused. You found polar bear ears and put them on Taehyung when he wasn’t looking. He looked at you confused, but you quickly took a picture on your phone. You show Taehyung the picture and he only rolls his eyes jokingly. He quickly finds another pair of ears and puts them on you and he grabs your phone as he snaps a picture of you both.
“Our first picture!” he says, as he hands you back the phone. We look good together you think, as you place your phone back in your purse.
By the time you finish the rest of the aquarium, you’re both pretty hungry. As Taehyung looks up places to eat, you remember the little noodle restaurant not too far from here. You used to go there all the time when you were in college, and you had a sudden craving for it.
“How do you feel about noodles?” you ask, and Taehyung looks up at you. He was thinking steak, but noodles doesn’t seem too bad either.
“Sure, let’s go!” he says, letting you lead the way. You both take your time walking and talk some more, and even stopping at a few stores to window shop.
You finally reach the noodle shop and though it looks pretty run down, the food was delicious. Taehyung made a face unknowingly, and you almost felt bad that you had dragged him to a place like this. You found out during the first date that he was in fact the son of Kim Enterprises, one of the leading companies in Korea. You were shocked, but it seemed to explain his car and apartment. He reassured you that it wasn’t anything big and you shouldn’t worry about it.
Taehyung was also surprised to learn that you were a lawyer. Not to mention a junior partner. Most of the girls he had known were just daughters of big shot fathers. They didn’t care too much for a career, so it was nice to see a girl who cared a lot about her career.
“we can go somewhere else if you want” you say, not wanting to force him into this place.
“No, let’s try it. It smells good!” Taehyung said honestly. He didn’t really like the way the store looked, but the food did smell really good. Plus, there was a lot of people within the tiny little place that all seemed to be enjoying their dinner.
You both ordered the house special noodles and as soon as it was placed on the little table between the two of you, Taehyung was surprised. The noodles looked amazing! And it was pretty cheap too. And it only took one bite to fall in love with the noodles.
“Y/N, this is sooo good” he said with his mouth full. He seemed to even like it more than the expensive dinner you both shared on the first date. And for that, you were happy. You were glad to be showing Taehyung some of your favorite thins, even though it might not be up to par with places he probably frequented.
“why aren’t you eating? If you’re not going to eat it, I will gladly eat it for you” he says before slurping more noodles.
“No no, I’m just glad you liked them. But you have another thing coming if you think I’ll give up my precious noodles so easily” you joke, causing him to smile too.
Taehyung had to admit, spending time with you was easy. Thankfully, you didn’t make it seem like a chore. He didn’t find himself putting up fake smiles or having fake conversations, and for that he was thankful.
Soon, your little outings with Taehyung frequented and by the end of the second week, you were finally not so nervous around Taehyung. You weren’t really sure what you’re relationship was though, and you didn’t really want to start the conversation yourself though you really wanted to know where you stood in your life. He clearly didn’t just see you as a friend, did he?
While you both were driving back the movie that Taehyung had wanted to see, you heard “Be my girlfriend” out of the blue.
“W-what?” you stuttered.
“I’m not good at doing all these romantic things, and I wasn’t really sure how to bring this up, but I really like you, princess. I want you to be my girlfriend” he says, casually.
“Oh.. Ok” you say, blushing intensely.
“Ok as in you’re saying yes?” he asks, still looking at the road ahead of him.
“Yes, I’ll be your girlfriend” you say, giggling. And only then, did Taehyung smile himself.
It was now one month since you met Taehyung that fateful night at the club, and you were the happiest you’ve been in years. It was probably too early to say how much Taehyung meant to you, but he made you happy.
And during this one month, you even became good friends with Jungkook! Jungkook was constantly over at your apartment, and it was easy to become friends with him since he was also friends with your now boyfriend, Taehyung.
“Ok, just because you beat me at Mario Kart doesn’t mean you’re better at me than all the other games” Jungkook whines as you both play a game while Yumi makes some snacks.
“But like, I beat you in those games too?? so I don’t really know what you’re talking about??” you say, laughing.
“Babe, Y/n is pretty badass, I don’t think you really want to compete with her” Yumi says as she enters the living room again. Jungkook had also asked her to be his girlfriend a few weeks ago, and she happily said yes. And she was so happy that her best friend/roommate and her boyfriend were getting along. Y/n had a tendency to scare off any potential boys that she didn’t seem fit for her, so she was glad she accepted Jungkook.
“Yah! Shouldn’t you be supporting your boyfriend? why are you always on her side?” he asked, pretending to be annoyed.
“Cuz she’s my best friend, dumbass” Yumi says, settling into the seat next to Jungkook.
Jungkook holds his hand to his heart and pretends to be in pain. Yumi just smacks him for being dumb, but laughing the entire time.
You hear a knock on the door, and you run to open the door for none other than Taehyung. “Hey babe!” he says, engulfing you in a hug. You loved the way he smelled.
Taehyung’s eyes land on Jungkook and he gives him a knowing look, and Jungkook doesn’t like it one bit. Jungkook had tried to convince him a few days ago to try and break the bet, but Taehyung was clear. He was going to see through these six months through and through. And if he wanted to keep things going well with Yumi, Taehyung advised Jungkook keep his mouth shut. And as much as it pained Jungkook to do so, he didn’t want to lose Yumi... or you for that matter.
You and Taehyung had decided to watch a movie in your room instead, leaving Jungkook and Yumi in the living room soon after Taehyung arrived. Soon after the movie started, you could feel Taehyung put his arms around your shoulder and you you snuggled in closer, loving how warm he felt.
But soon enough, your attention was taken away from the movie as you could feel your boyfriend stare at you, drilling a hole on the side of your face.
Why aren’t you watc-” You began, but were cut off when Taehyung kissed you. And it’s not like you two hadn’t kissed. In fact, you kissed...a lot in this last month. But that’s all it ever went to, and Taehyung was getting frustrated.
When you felt his hands at the hem of your shirt, you immediately push his hands away and Taehyung groans, breaking the kiss. “i’m sorry” you say in a small voice.
“No, it’s fine” Taehyung says, turning back the movie. You were always like this. Anytime a kiss got heated, you always broke it off. He didn’t know why you always pushed him away like that. Were you not into him? That was impossible, because come on, who wouldn’t me? If sex was off the table for six months, then so be it, Taehyung thought. It’s not like he planned on staying faithful to you, and he already wasn’t.
Taehyung had complained to his friends the first time you refused his advances. “Why do you even care?” Jimin asked. “You have a line of girls waiting to just spend a night with the infamous Kim Taehyung” says Jimin.
“I don’t plan on ending this bet” Taehyung groans. “Who said anything about breaking off the bet? No one said anything about you remaining faithful.  As long as she doesn’t find out, right?” Jimin continued, not really caring about what you might feel. Hell, he never met you and he planned to keep it that way.
“Hyung... don’t do that to her” Jungkook chimed in. “She’s a nice girl” he continued.
“Yah, just because you’re with her roommate doesn’t give you the right to dictate what I can or can’t do with Y/n” Taehyung growls.
“But she’s my friend now too, and I don’t want you hurting her” Jungkook says, keeping his stance.
And that was when Taehyung had threatened Jungkook to keep his mouth shut.
And since that night, Taehyung did have his share of flings. Sure, he would never let you know. He always made sure that his flavor of the night would never leave any marks on him, though he would gladly return the favor if they wanted.
Plus, it wasn’t like you spent the night at his place. Though he claimed he didn’t really care, he was curious. Why didn’t you want to be with him.
“No, Tae, it’s not fine. I’m just... really sorry” you say.
“You do know that we’re dating right? This stuff is normal in a relationship” he says, forgetting to keep his patience.
“I know.. I just.. I just” you say, not really wanting to dwell into the topic at the moment.
“Just what, y/n? You make me feel... unwanted” Taehyung says. And he realized that he was being honest. How dare you refuse him?
“I’m a virgin!” You blurt out, not really having it in you to keep it a secret anymore.
“W-what?” Taehyung gasps. A...virgin? But.. how?
“I know.. I know what you’re thinking, and I just.. I don’t know” You say, tears start to form in your eyes.
“Hey, hey, there’s nothing wrong with that” he says, though he clearly was judging you internally.
“Trust me when I say I want to be with you, Tae. I really do, but I’m just so scared” you whimper.
“Why? Are you scared of the pain?” he asks.
“A little?” you say. Memories of college start to flood your mind and you start shaking.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Taehyung asks, noticing you start to shake.
“Something happened... in college”
A/n: I forgot I liked a good cliffhanger. What do you think happened in college? Want a part 4? let met know!

  asukaskerian  ...
sure, yes! :D what even is the plot like?
OKAY, SO.
Young Avengers can be split up, roughly, into five sections:
Volume 1, Part 1
Volume 1, Part 2
The Events (Civil War, Secret Invasion, and Dark Reign)
Children’s Crusade
Volume 2
Most of the cast has appearances in other things, but the main plot can be summed up as the above.
And now under the cut. I am verbose. Sorry.
V1 Pt1
Nate Richards, in the 31st century, finds out that he’s destined to become Kang the Conqueror, a time-travelling supervillain.
He comes back in time to the current era (or, well, 2005-ish), in an attempt to get some help and Not Go Evil.
He gets brushed aside by all the real Avengers, but finds the Vision’s corpse in a destroyed Avengers Mansion, and comes across the Avengers Failsafe Program. If they were to ever need a back-up team, then this was it!
The results aren’t meant to be just teenagers, but they’re what Nate finds. He calls himself Iron Lad, fashioning himself after Iron Man, reconstructing Vision partway to use the bot as armor. His new friends are:
Billy Kaplan, who calls himself Asgardian. He later switches to calling himself Wiccan, because being a gay superhero whose name is Asgardian would get him ripped to shreds by the media. It initially seems like his powers are electricity and flight, but it turns out he’s a reality warper.
Teddy Altman, who calls himself Hulkling. He’s a shapeshifter who can take on a Hulk-like form, though he keeps his wits about him.
Eli Bradley, who calls himself Patriot (after Bucky Barnes’ original alter ego, I think), a supersoldier whose grandfather was Isaiah Bradley, aka the Black Captain America. Isaiah was either one of the few survivors of the rounds of testing that the Serum underwent before Steve Rogers took it, or he was one of the few survivors of the experiments to recreate it after Steve went down, depending on the backstory. Either way, Eli’s got a chip on his shoulder about how African-Americans are treated by the government, including a short issue where he’s mentioned giving a school presentation on the Tuskegee experiments.
They try to do some superheroics, with varying results. The newspapers dub them the Young Avengers, and Jessica Jones, a reporter at the time, goes looking into them.
They try to save a church full of wedding guests, because the happy couple is Very Rich and everyone’s getting held hostage. They set the place on fire by accident, and have to be helped out by one of the bridesmaids. It’s not a great night for them.
Bridesmaid’s name is Kate Bishop! She doesn’t have a superhero identity yet, but she’s pretty good in a fight, and she’s the one that Cassie Lang finds.
Kate and Cassie find the boys at Avengers Mansion, and get the backstory. Cassie finds out that all the Pym Particles she was stealing from her dad (Scott Lang, one of several people to be Ant-Man) since she was in the single digits? They actually gave her superpowers. She can change size. Yay!
There’s a great big kerfuffle as Kang (Nate’s evil future self) and the actual Avengers show up. Jessica Jones ends up un-pregnanted for a bit as time threatens to collapse in on itself because of the stress it’s undergoing.
Billy’s reality-warping abilities are revealed, and he accidentally saves the day, but does not save Nate. Poor Nate.
He and Cassie kissed at some point. It’s not very relevant.
Vision is now a person! Not the same Vision you know and love, though. This one’s brain waves are based on Nate. His name is Jonas. I love him.
He ends up falling in love with Cassie because of this. This is relevant, but not for a while.
He also isn’t part of the team yet.
The adult Avengers tell them to stop superheroing, because they’re kids and not ready for this.
The kids don’t listen. They’re a Team Now.
V1 Pt2
There’s an entire “Eli’s not actually a supersoldier like his grandfather, so he takes Mutant Growth Hormone the way a normal person would take speed so he can temporarily have superpowers and it’s killing him slowly” plotline that I’m not a fan of. I’m really not a fan of the black kid getting the drug plotline. Yech.
He leaves the team for a while.
Kate is an heiress, so she’s bankrolling the team. Fuck yeah.
Also she’s calling herself Hawkeye by this point. Cassie is Stature.
Less Fuck Yeah is the fact that aliens are showing up. Why are aliens showing up? Because Teddy’s an alien.
Turns out his mom was the Skrull princess, and he’s heir to the throne of an alien empire. (His inheritance is bigger than Kate’s.)
Skrulls are natural shape-shifters, hence Teddy’s powers.
His dad was Captain Mar-Vell of the Kree empire.
The Kree and Skrull usually hate each other. Mar-Vell seduced Princess Anelle while he and some other Avengers were imprisoned by her father, in fact. It was very soap opera.
Both of these people are dead, and Teddy was raised by a nurse that Anelle had entrusted him to.
Teddy’s adoptive mom gets burned alive. And then not-alive. Teddy is understandably traumatized by the fact that he’s an alien and that his mom was just murdered by the guy that came to steal him away.
Teddy gets kidnapped. Eli rejoins the team because, well, kidnapped.
BTW Jonas has been living at Avengers Mansion, playing chess and getting tested for sapience.
Edwin Jarvis tries to convince them to let the real, adult Avengers handle the kidnapping.
They nope and Jonas helps them find more Young Avengers. They go break a kid out of prison.
Kid’s a mutant, like Billy! Kid’s had trouble controlling the powers and destroyed some stuff, like Billy! Kid looks exactly like Billy, like... wait.
This is Tommy Shepherd. He blew up a school when his superspeed manifested, and got tossed into juvie as a result. He has white hair, but he and Billy are otherwise identical. This is relevant.
They go try to save Teddy, but even more aliens show up than just the One Guy (K’lrt, the Super Skrull) that kidnapped Teddy.
The Skrulls and Kree are about to fight a war over Manhattan because Teddy exists.
A few people suggest that Billy and Tommy are retroactive reincarnations of the Scarlet Witch’s dead kids. This is still relevant.
There’s a big fight, but not a war.
Eli gets shot.
K’lrt has a change of heart and shapeshifts into Teddy and replaces him so that the aliens leave.
Eli gets a blood transfusion from Steve Rogers himself. He’s a real supersoldier now!
They get commended for their actions. Now they really ARE a team, and if someone says V1 team, it’s gonna be these seven: Billy, Teddy, Kate, Cassie, Eli, Tommy, Jonas.
Sometimes Jonas gets swapped out for Nate.
I get sad.
The Events
Civil War was about Tony Stark and Steve Rogers fighting about government oversight. It was more complicated than the movie.
Most of the YA are on Steve’s side. Cassie is on Tony’s.
They try to help the Runaways at one point.
Noh-Varr gets mind-controlled into trying to kill them.
Noh’s life is an endless clusterfuck.
They all almost kill each other, there’s a kind of queerphobic kidnapping (it’s focused on mutants and aliens, but the mutant is gay, two of the aliens are gay, and one of the aliens is genderfluid), and there’s torture of minors.
On the bright side we get to see Tommy being a Big Bro Friend to a twelve-year-old with super-strenghth, so that’s fun.
Secret Invasion is basically about the Skrulls being Everywhere.
They run into the Runaways again.
They fight some aliens.
Teddy almost gets kidnapped again?
This is not the last time Teddy gets kidnapped or even just almost kidnapped.
He should work on that.
Tommy’s powers get a panel that heavily indicate some Science that I once nerded out about for a while.
IDK it’s drawn manga-style and they all fight alien assassins and it’s fun.
Dark Reign was about Norman Osborne taking over everything and being awful.
There’s an evil version of the Young Avengers running around, using their name.
They confront the new team.
The new team ranges from “artsy villain fangirl who found a magic coat” to “guy whose powers led to him accidentally murdering his parents and now he’s fucked up from it and trying to do good” to “girl woke up with powers one day and decided to lie to the world and pretend to be Asgardian” to “some guy who just really loves guns and killing people and styled himself after Punisher’s aesthetic with even less regard to human life” to a chick that’s just a straight-up Nazi with size-changing powers and a robot boyfriend that she’s constantly rewiring to make him a more awful person.
I fucking hate Big Zero. She’s a nazi and she’s awful.
I like Sylvie, though. I mean, she pretends to be something she’s not, and she flirts with a man who’s clearly taken and gay, even while she’s not single herself.
But like.
She’s fun and kinda dumb and I enjoy reading her.
Children’s Crusade
The Scarlet Witch has been missing for a few years.
After Billy’s powers go nuclear, he decides to go find her, because she’s his soul mom.
He brings the team.
(There’s a lot more going on because the Avengers all think Billy’s powers are going to go on the fritz and murder everyone.)
GRANDPA MAGNETO IS IN THIS ONE
I LOVE GRAMPNETO
HE’S NOT GOOD AT THIS GRANDPA THING BUT HE’S HERE
Also Pietro
He’s the worst uncle
He’s so bad with kids
I love him
They find Wanda but it turns out she’s a Doombot.
So they go to Castle Doom, and it turns out she’s amnesiac and about to marry Doctor Doom because he’s manipulating her into thinking he’s a good person.
Shit happens, she gets her memories back, and then there’s a big fight between the Avengers (who think Wanda and Billy are risks), the X-Men (who think similarly, but also are mad at the Avengers, and there’s a cool sequence where Wanda knocks out Emma Frost), and Doctor Doom, who’s trying to become God.
He kind of succeeds, and then fails.
Nate shows up.
Several people, including Cassie’s dad, get brought back from the dead, or are revealed to have never been dead in the first place.
Cassie dies.
Jonas is murdered by Nate.
Everything is awful.
The team splits up.
Only Tommy wants to keep being a hero.
Everything sucks, basically.
V2
I fucking love V2.
Kate and Noh-Varr hook up and she doesn’t even realize this is the guy who almost killed her that one time until the morning after.
They fight some Skrulls while flying around in orbit with Noh’s spaceship.
(We later find out that these are not Skrulls. They are shapeshifters who are Skrull Fanboys.)
Teddy’s been sneaking out at night (he lives with Billy’s family, since he’s an orphan now) to fight crime. Billy does not approve.
There’s a new girl called America Chavez. She’s important.
Loki is like... ten.
Billy tries to pull Teddy’s mom out of another universe, moments before her death.
It’s great!
Turns out she’s an interdimensional Eldritch Abomination that wants to eat their souls.
She can make adults oblivious to the fact that anything is wrong.
She can mind-control parents.
She can, in the right location, bring back DEAD PARENTS that she mind-controls to fight you for the ultimate trifecta of trauma.
She’s terrifying and I love her.
Anyway, Loki tries to help, almost gets used as a bartering chip with Asgard to get them to help instead since no one trusts Loki, and the team comes together!
Kate, Noh, Loki, America, Billy, Teddy
They have to fight a really big horde of mind-controlled parents.
Including their own undead superhero parents.
Loki actually helps!
They fly off to have fun fighting crime elsewhere until they can figure out how to avoid Mother more successfully, since they can’t really stay in New York right now.
They live on Noh’s spaceship.
It’s a nice spaceship.
(Irony of ironies, Loki was the one that pointed The Mother Parasite in Billy’s direction and planted the idea of saving Mrs. Altman into Billy’s mind in the first place. It was a whole Thing.)
TOMMY is not part of the team, because he cut himself off from basically everyone back in CC. I’m not actually sure anyone knew HOW to contact him at this point.
He goes on a date with a cute, superpowered coworker. Coworker’s name is David. He doesn’t actually HAVE superpowers anymore, but his superpower used to be knowledge absorption, and he remembers EVERYTHING.
EVERYTHING
You wanna know Wolverine’s preferred ass-wiping method? David knows. You wanna know how to do a one-time pad to encrypt data? David knows. You want Emma Frost’s bra size? He knows, but he’s not going to tell you, because she’s terrifying.
I love David.
There’s some horrifying Thing wearing Eli’s old costume running around and doing weird illegal shit so Tommy and David investigate.
Tommy gets kidnapped for a bit.
David gets the Young Avengers to help him save Tommy.
It’s awesome, mostly.
Teddy and Billy take a break, and Teddy’s new therapist is Leah of Hel.
I love Leah.
There’s a support group for exes of superpowered people who got fucked over by that whole nonsense.
All three of Noh’s exes are torn between wanting him back or wanting him dead.
Except Oubliette, who doesn’t see why she needs to choose.
America’s ex-teammate is mad that she’s a lesbian.
Patri-not is an Eldrith Being that kidnapped Tommy and we honestly still don’t know what it was.
It’s been SIX YEARS IN THE REAL WORLD AND I STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS
And Leah is Loki’s former best friend.
Teddy think’s they’re all nuts and tries to leave.
Take a guess what happens.
Take a guess.
If you guessed kidnapping, you’re right!
The support group is working with the Mother Parasite.
So now the team has to go rescue Teddy.
Loki gets aged up by way of Billy’s magic but it doesn’t help Loki get their magic back fully like they’d hoped.
So, fight.
It’s all very dramatic and they use David’s phone tree to get backup and there’s a lot of visual metaphor.
Billy becomes the Demiurge for a bit to erase Mother from existence. He’s basically god?
Noh dumps Kate for his ex.
It turns out all of the exes are figments of Loki’s imagination. His guilt over murdering his child self (back in Journey into Mystery) and possessing the body manifested itself externally, and the reason he lost so much of his magic was because he was subconsciously creating magical constructs like Leah and the League of Evil Exes.
Noh feels like a dumbass.
Loki disappears just as Billy’s introducing all of his friends to his parents.
Loki feels guilty as shit.
There’s a New Year’s party and everyone’s invited, including David’s phone tree.
Fun!
Turns out Loki bankrolled the party. They flirt with David for a bit.
I ship it, tbh.
Patri-not wasn’t actually a figment of Loki’s imagination. Patri-not is real, and an enigma, and still has Tommy.
David makes out with Patri-not and halfway through Patri-not turns into Tommy so. Tommy’s back!
WE STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK PATRI-NOT IS
YES I’M GENUINELY UPSET ABOUT THIS
There’s a joke at the end of the comic about how they’re all queer except Kate.
Hawkeye implies that she’s probably bi later on.
Loki never rejoins the team because GUILT.
Original Sins was a thing. Teddy, David, and Noh work together to save a bunch of stoners who are about to die from having a bunch of information downloaded directly into their brain when someone crushed a giant eyeball.
And everyone’s been doing their own thing since then.
Teddy really needs to stop getting kidnapped, tbh.

From @thedarkestcrow , thank you for tagging me!
1. How has your opinion of yourself changed over the years?
I’m definitely more confident and easygoing than I was as a teenager/young adult.  I was an only child and had a period of severe self-esteem issues brought on by bullying that took me a long time to overcome.  But I got help, worked through my issues and am now relatively healthy!  Or as healthy as a huge geek can be I guess.  xD
2. If you had to pick one book to read for the rest of your life, which book would you pick?
JUST ONE??? What kind of sadistic question is this?
If it isn’t cheating, I’d opt for The Lord of the Rings trilogy because I’ll probably never get tired of reading them.  If not... whatever.  NEXT QUESTION?
3. What’s your favorite season? Do you have a particular reason for liking it?
I love Fall/Autumn because of the warm colors and the relief that comes from summer turning to cooler weather.  There’s just something about the season that’s magical and makes me want to drink cocoa and cider and go for long walks.  Plus it has Halloween, which is the best holiday. :)
4. What’s your favorite thing to do when you want to relax?
Put on a calm playlist and play a game.  I’m a big fan of collection or repetition games where I don’t have to engage my brain too much but I still feel like I’m doing something.  I’ve never been the type of person who can just like... draw a bath and soak for a while.  I get bored too easily and then I’m not relaxed anymore.  ^^;
5. Do you consider yourself lazy?
Eeeeh, it depends on the day?  I’m pretty self-motivated but sometimes I just say screw it and let things slide until I decide to pick them up again.  There’ve definitely been days where I’ve skipped doing laundry or cooked for myself when I really should have.  And I’ve procrastinated on projects and papers before.  But it’s not something I chronically do.
6. What’s your view on morality?
Everyone’s morality is different but there are some universal truths to it.  My personal view is that everything is fine as long as it isn’t actively causing trauma to yourself or someone else, whether it’s physical, mental or emotional.  This might seem like a very relaxed stance on morality but eh, I think people jumping down one another’s throats and arguing over minor details that really don’t matter in the long run is more harmful than not.  You might disagree with someone and judge them for it, but you probably do things they judge you for too so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
7. When are you most productive?

Afternoons, evenings and nights.  I’m not a morning person and it takes me about two hours and a couple cups of coffee or tea to wake me up every day lol.
8. Do you have any strong opinions about things most people don’t think much about?
Just fandom things, probably?  Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions though, so idk if I’d call mine ‘strong’.
9. How do you handle stress?
Usually by throwing myself into something that will distract me from the stress, whether it’s music or a good book or a good meditation session or whatever I’m feeling like.  If none of that’s available I do my best to remove myself from whatever’s causing the stress and allow myself to come down from it.  I don’t get extremely stressed very often though, luckily enough.
10. What would your ideal world be like?
I’m gonna have to go with the typical response of a kinder, gentler world than we live in now.  If everyone had more compassion for one another and squabbled less over petty differences it would be so much better.  Also just less greed and power lust in general.  People could still have their differences and their unique identities, but I dunno... I just feel like if more people realized that they could be happier by not being quite so selfish, it would do a lot of good.
Extra Questions:
1.) What’s one story that you want to write/create but won’t (or haven’t yet)?
I’ve started writing like 10 different books before but never got that far with them.  I’m better at coming up with ideas and bouncing them off of other people than sitting down and writing out an entire work from scratch.
2.) What’s an interesting moment of self-discovery in your life?
When I realized that happiness is attainable when you’re doing something positive with your life, even if it’s something small.  Greatness and renown aren't as important as touching the lives of the people around you; friends, family and strangers alike.
3.) Dream job?

Forensic Anthropologist, hands down.   I majored in physical anthropology and took a heavy load of science courses and I loved it.  One of my professors was really into criminology as well and gave us really interesting lab work related to forensics.  Plus, it’s usually benefitting the families of missing persons.  If I ever go back to Uni for a Masters degree I think that’s what I’m going to aim for.
4.) What’s a book/movie/show that has had a large influence on you?
Oh man, I dunno if I can just pick one.  This probably won’t come as a surprise after that last question but I was an avid reader of Sherlock Holmes and other detective novels as a kid.   My parents and grandparents let me read anything as long as it was classic literature, so I read all of the Sherlock stories when I was 8 - 10.  As far as movies go, I also loved the Indiana Jones series and it got me really into studying history and different cultures.  And I guess anime and manga, in general, has influenced me a lot and helped cement that desire to travel and learn another language.
5.) Has music ever changed your life, or at least your outlook on life?
Yes, definitely!  Some songs have always stuck with me and I still find songs with lyrics that impact me in some way.  Music is a powerful way to convey messages (haha, Blue Sect Arc got it 100% right) and invoke emotion in people.
6.) Imagine you’ve become an established author/artist/creator. What would you want the fandom for your works to be like?
I would want them to be chill and nonargumentative with one another, but I know that’s only like a .0001% probability.   Maybe if I had a fandom of like 5 people it’d be okay.
7.) Same scenario as #6. What would the fandom actually be like?
Probably like every other fandom out there.  Mostly casual consumers but a good chunk that’s very invested.  A smaller chunk of those would be the ones that rock the boat and make everyone unhappy.
8.) What’s a subject that you think should be taught in schools but typically isn’t taught at all?
It might sound odd, but responsible money management and how to save for retirement.  Responsibly managing my money was one of the biggest issues I had to overcome when I went to University and was living on my own, and it was the same for quite a few of my friends.  I think the spending lifestyle in America is mostly to blame for this, and businesses want to make as much money as they can off of the public so I doubt a class like that will ever be implemented.  But it would be nice if we taught kids and teens how to live comfortably without being so materialistic.  I think things are slowly changing on their own though, and the youngest generations are realizing this (see: all the whining about Millenials ‘killing’ everything lol).
9.) What’s a subject that you think should be taught differently in schools from how it usually is?
Difficult to say!  I don’t know how schools in other states handle all of their subjects, but the ones I went to had a few issues.  I think math and algebra are in the one area that’s most often complained about.  In my experience, I either had an excellent teacher or an amazingly awful one with no exceptions.   Which is a shame because algebra can be interesting and fun if the teacher enjoys the subject and has good lesson plans.
10.) Are there any patterns in your interests/works that wouldn’t be immediately obvious to an outside observer?
I really don’t look like the type of person who’d be into the things I’m into, I suppose?  I’m just your average, small person who dresses in T-shirts, jeans, and trainers with earbuds in. ^^;;
And that’s it!  Tagging  @lapyn @beautifulbloomingblossoms @trollintrancy @justanotherfandomjunkie along with anyone else who’d like to answer it.
