I kind of have mixed feelings on whether or not I want to interpret Earnest as transphobic. On the one hand, he canonically praises Cornelius for playing Juliet in a school play despite his distain for non-academic extracurriculars, suggesting that at he is somewhat accepting of Cornelius being GNC. On the other hand, if he was born like 10 years later he'd definitely be one of those teenage boys who watch too much Ben Shapiro and 'um actuactally's his way through arguments
That being said, there might also be an element of Earnest knowing that it'll look comically ironic for him to mock somebody for being GNC given that he gets emasculated regularly (though I doubt he has that much self-awareness since he quickly absolves himself of any blame and screeches about he loves his 'amigos' in the defender of the castle cutscene despite the whole thing being his fault).

((Wouldn't you get tired of seeing the same character done the same way over and over again just for sake of being Canon or w/e anyway? Let up a little. Besides, even if someone's strictly canon at the beginning, things occur over time and through threads... would you even let your strictly canon character interact that much with many others in the rpc? Why would you, they're not in your character's canon after all!))

as someone who’s always been interested in pop culture I really enjoyed Emma Chamberlain’s podcast episode on celebrity privacy. It’s true that to a certain extent celebs know what they get into and sadly giving up some parts of privacy is part of the job. But like. Disclosing private information they did not agree to share with the world is trespassing a boundary. Being treated like a human being should be the norm for celebs too.

Carb counting absolutely everything you eat is exhausting and i can hardly believe there's people who do it when they don't even have diabeties. And they count protein and fat and calories all in the name of health. But is2g that's not good for you mental health. Even if you don't become obsessive and develop and ed, it's mentally exhausting! Who can keep track of all that? And live a life, work full time and manage a household on top of that? You'll get burnt out!

sorry idk but the way the world is so fast and the people in it still want it to be faster is sooo annoying to me. people groaning while standing in line for 3 minutes people being mad the train ride is gonna take 2 hours people complaining that the bus is a few minutes late people being angry that construction work is taking months even though it used to take decades. don't you see the world is already so so so fast in every single aspect can't you understand that being mad will do nothing and just make your mood worse. enjoy the moments of stillness you're given. just stand in line and look at the people around you. sit on the train and watch the scenery. you'll get there.

Also another hot take of mine is the whole comparing honkai to Genshin thing bc frankly I think it’s pretty silly. Both games are going for very different tones and writing styles and have entirely separate gameplay mechanics (as well as gacha mechanics) so making generic statements of like oh x is objectively done better in x game is wild like just say you like one over the other more like a normal person

on nanami
Tumblr media
sometimes i forget that a healthy part of the fandom hasn't read the manga, and that nanami's death actually came as a shock to some this week.
which is warranted, given that nanami is one of JJK's better written characters – a rare breath of fresh air, maturity, and warmth in a story that often speed-runs character development.
but i've also seen people bringing up this tweet, expressing a bitterness at gege for killing nanami when he initially intended to let him off with losing an arm:
Tumblr media
now, don't get me wrong – gege has had his fair share of bad writing moments (more to come in future seasons when we finally get to the culling games and, uhm... you'll see).
what he meant by a "character taking their own life" referred to the natural end of a character's narrative.
nanami was introduced in JJK as an opposite to gojo – he's aloof, he's too serious, and he just wants to knock off work on time. but as we come to know, nanami also has a softer side to him – one that instinctively protects and cares for the young jujutsu sorcerers, as a result of his traumatic past after the death of his best friend.
and in the story, nanami served as yuji's mentor. he defined, for yuji, what it meant to be a sorcerer, and more importantly – a young jujutsushi.
Tumblr media
in many ways, he wrote and defined the moral compass that yuji would lean on subsequently in the story.
Tumblr media
i wouldn't go as far as to make this post a "why nanami had to die" – but i would also like to make it clear that nanami's role in the story besides being a board-certified dilf™️ is to root both the readers and yuji in the realities of being a jujutsu sorcerer.
and for mahito – his thematic opposite, someone with a complete disregard and disrespect for humanity – to kill nanami, while allowing nanami to pass on his final words to yuji...
Tumblr media
he is not only resolving the conflict he has within himself – because he is able to die with the knowledge that yuji will not be "cursed", that yuji will continue as a jujutsu sorcerer with the right moralities, capable of facing the demons nanami once tried to run away from as a teen.
so, no, gege did not get carried away with killing nanami, as some have opined. nanami's narrative – as a character saddled by the burdens of being a sorcerer, who escaped from his responsibilities as a teen only to return, and to pass them on to a young boy who also has too much to shoulder – simply came to a close. x

i have some hot takes for yall today
mod updates shouldn’t be behind early access like… come on!
everyone should just be able to upload the cc they used on a sim or in a lot when they upload that sim or lot to be shared with the community. we know op didnt make the cc, we know credit goes to the cc creator, cc always has the creators name anyways. if i have to manually download all the cc for a sim or build i just won’t, like it’s not really doing anyone any favors. i’m not gonna list cc for every sim i upload, sorry, i’m chronically ill and i don’t have that kind of time or energy 🤷🏻 loosen up a bit man it’s just simblr

Ok since I've already started expressing An Opinion about the whole Larian fanart inspiration thing, let me just make my own post so I don't derail op's point any further.
While I understand you can't monetize fan creations, I don't think people understand that the creators of the ip also don't have a right to use fanart freely in their works. The artist can't monetize fanart but the original creator can't either unless the artist is paid. And on the Larian issue, I want to ask, do you think it's fair for a studio to treat their creation as a "collaborative effort", taking ideas from fandom to add to their content while being the only ones receiving any compensation or notoriety for it? Genuine question. Because it's one thing to take criticism and improve, while it's another to add completely new things based on fan ideas.
And while I do agree that inspiration doesn't necessarily warrant direct compensation nor does it need approval to be used, they did directly tag the artist that inspired the scene, they didn't credit the whole fandom, they pointed out that artist specifically, and acted like it's fair and right and commendable for them, as a studio, to take someone's idea and put it into their fully released, 60 dollar game, without even talking to the artist. The company sets an example and when I see this, it becomes clearer to me why my own fanart has often been reposted and edited in fandom without my permission and why the fans don't generally understand that this is unethical.
Right now I'm undecided on whether or not I think it was fair for them to use that creation as inspiration, but the way they went about the whole situation just doesn't sit right with me.

I can appreciate “empath” jokes as much as the next person but it is a little unfortunate that the word has basically lost all meaning when it actually describes a childhood trauma response of becoming hyper-aware and hyper-vigilant of other peoples emotions while simultaneously becoming disassociated with your own.

ok I have seen a couple people compare Ulysses and Joshua and tbh it just seems like a silly comparison to me, because while the things that made Ulysses turn to mass destruction were beyond his control, literally all of Joshua's suffering is self-created and he really only has himself to blame for his hardships
Joshua willingly created the legion and his road to redemption (if he even chooses it) is just,, unlearning the violent tendencies he chose to pick up. like I get it can be hard to recognize and correct the error of your ways and I like that you can try to set him on the right path but it's impossible to feel bad for him when his hardships are just consequences of his own actions
I get that they're both antagonists and I believe they both can seek redemption but Ulysses is like a tragic desperate villain who just needs help whereas Joshua chose to be a villain and now has to learn how to be a decent person

people are really going at it bullying tween girls who want retinol skincare instead of the influencers pushing that to them. maybe anti aging marketing is bad all the time and not just when it’s sold to kids.

i don't quite believe in the coffee theory. this is aziraphale learning a lesson that crowley has already learned. there is a message here, even if aziraphale isn't as quick as crowley to getting it. aziraphale doesn't consider heaven as toxic as hell and he might actually miss it: see aziraphale reporting his good deeds to crowley as he did to heaven before.
sure, deep down he's been hurt by heaven and he knows they're not on the same wavelength, but it feels like metraton is not only offering him hope, but supposedly control over what heaven might look like, and by extension new hope for crowley too. aziraphale loves crowley and is, to a degree, aware that what they craved out for themselves on earth is special, but he's still clinging to the hope of fixing things when he's given the option. time and again we see aziraphale do deeds that maybe we wouldn't do, or crowley wouldn't want to do at first, like taking care of gabriel and generally choosing kindness more often than not, so of course when he heard the offer he thought "i could fix this. we could fix this.".
i feel like the coffee being a spell or a miracle or whatever not only isn't necessary for where they are in their stories: remember that they never actually got to talk and face their feelings, especially aziraphale, the way nina and maggie pointed out, but it would take from aziraphale's genuine rection to the whole thing.
the tragedy of that moment is that aziraphale genuinely believes he's doing this for the right reasons, for good, for crowley, and s3 will be his last knock down on his ass from heaven and it will end with his inevitable return to crowley one way or another.

I keep seeing this post circling around with people in the tags being like "WhILe tHeN wHy iS hE pLAyInG TrUmP tHeN!?" And like.
Y'all know an actor playing a person doesn't mean they condone their actions or have decided to actively support them now, right?
Like you can argue the ethics of making a biopic about the Orange Menace, that's fine and honestly a discussion I think should be had, but like. I can't imagine it'll frame him in a positive light. And I can't imagine anyone that's not The Daily Wire or Ben Shapiro would attach themselves to something that would. And like I'm not saying Sebastian is perfect or anything, he's done some shit that's a bit ~spicy~ and I can't say I condone, but like. Idk it seems a little shit to judge him for a movie that hasn't even come out yet because he's playing a dude he's actively spoken out against when he talks about him. Like, imo that speaks more to the fact the movie is gonna be critical of Trump. Idk, just my 2 cents
