Also one of the reasons it makes narrative / thematic sense if the main motivator that has Callum going to Aaravos / doing shady shit is because of Rayla is like, somewhat basic storytelling and also very Greek tragedy? She threw out their relationship and broke his trust and risked her life for two years all in the name of keeping him safe. I’m sure that’ll still be one of her main goals in S4, thinking of herself as his and Ezran’s protector (better her than them / him) while they travel together again. Only for her to fail in protecting him, because he’s either going to do something Very Dangerous in order to make up for something she can’t do (circa 2x07 all over again) if she’s injured or just incapable (re: 1x03 in a dark turn), or he’s going to do something Deeply Dangerous explicitly to protect her / on her ‘behalf.’ And I’m just - I’m so freaking ready
