i've seen a lot of people criticizing early-seasons bashir for being weird towards women--and i'm not here to dispute that he's a weirdo fs and it's uncomfortable to watch at times--BUT people keep bringing up if wishes were horses as evidence? did we watch the same episode? because to me that episode showed character growth in this area.
yeah. sure. he was weird at the beginning, but i am firmly in the 'you cannot fault people for their involuntary thoughts' camp, and sex dreams absolutely fall into that category.
He wasn't TRYING to bring a super affectionate Jadzia to life, the gamma quadrant aliens did that.
And the biggest thing for me is that when he wakes up to a horny Fake!Jadzia on top of him, he is immediately suspicious and pushes her away. he's like "nope. this is not you. you're sick." and then when that isn't true he checks his OWN vitals bc he's so sure it's fake.
and it is, and he did 'give in' eventually, but like. so would I, i think. if I was completely enamored with someone and woke up to them suddenly returning my affections, and then checked to make sure we were both (to my knowledge) sane and in our right minds, I personally would not assume that some random alien from a different quadrant had brought my sex dream to life for purposes unknown. Idk guys i'm not finding an issue with his behavior in that bit.
As soon as they get called to ops, he's immediately like "ahh, this was a prank, you can stop now! please!"--he's still not completely down with it. and--AS JADZIA HERSELF POINTS OUT--the aliens totally violated his privacy. some thoughts should remind private, and it's not julian's fault that his private (involuntary dream) thoughts were brought to life without his consent or knowledge.
jadzia's not mad about it, she gets it, the rest of the team is embarrassed for him but doesn't really focus on it at all, if I were Julian i would absolutely be throwing myself out of an airlock.
But did he do anything wrong? I don't really think so.

in "if wishes were horses," kira has that whole vision of the station exploding. everyone else's visions in that episode could be perceived by other people, but hers wasn't. was that moment driven by the alien influence, or was it a PTSD flashback that blended in with the others? was there a reason that it wasn't ever touched on in the episode? thanks!
Honest talk? I have no clue. It's been too long and I did my rewrite on that one in a crazy rush and I mostly remember the Buck Bokai and Rumplestiltskin stories because those are the ones I did the most work on.
If I had to guess though, it still was an alien influenced vision. I'd have to rewatch to know for sure, but was if anyone else was around to see it?
If not, that would explain it. If so... ummm... Season Ones are hard.

Is there a grocery delivery mod for TS3?
If there is, I'm not finding it. Sure would be handy to have for my saves where babysitters aren't allowed and the stay-at-home parent can't go to the grocery story because they have more than one baby/toddler...
I really can't believe this was left out of TS3, since TS2 has it. Then again, I guess something like this would be more complicated since TS3 has recipes and ingredients and stuff, so maybe that's why such a thing doesn't appear to exist. But, if anyone knows of a mod, please point me at it. And if such a thing doesn't exist...Well, I guess it's another of those things that I would make, if I could make things.

okay so I understand that "if wishes were horses" could be a difficult episode for #bashirnation because if you take fake! Jadzia at face value then he becomes insufferable. but as someone who is unable to take off my queer-tinted glasses at any time I would like to put forward the interpretation that it serves as a strong case study for Julian suffering from comphet.
now, it's been a while since I've watched the episode so I cannot provide an extremely detailed analysis, but I remember that in the scene where fake! Jadzia is first introduced Julian's initial reaction was to reject her (yes this can be seen as just responding to context clues and being polite but we're having a gay time here), and it's only after she asks him why he's fighting this that he thinks *you're right, society says I SHOULD want this*, and starts kissing her back.
afterwards, when he learns that she's just a manifestation of his thoughts, he responds to her propositions with embarrassment at best and outright repulsion at worst, as if the idea of a version of Jadzia that reciprocates his feelings fills Julian with discomfort. at one point, the alien even says something along the lines of "why would mine create a woman to reject her?" and that's the thing, because to me this episode confirms that Julian doesn't actually like Jadzia: he's just chosen her as the one to safely project his desire to fit into cishetero patriarchal norms onto because she's never actually going to like him back, which is why when faced with a version of her that does, he completely loses interest.

Read a thing and saw a comic earlier which has Hakuba's anime design with him having red eyes and now I have thoughts of more P5/DCMK crossover stuff.
This time, Goro Akechi's mother is actually a relative of Hakuba's, making them cousins of a sort (but not the identical kind like Kaito and Shinichi) but the Hakuba family cut her off the moment they found out about her having an illegitimate child due to them being a Respectable Family, and a Respectable Family like them can't afford to have those kinds of people attached to them.
So neither Akechi nor Saguru know a single thing about this until Akechi gets himself on the news. Maybe Saguru's relatives - estranged though they may be - say something odd. Maybe it's something about Akechi himself that gets his interest, or something he says.
Maybe Kaitou Kid sends a heist note in the area, and disguises himself as Akechi, doing research on his subject and finds nowhere near as much as he expected.
But somehow or other, Saguru finds out - and he's furious with his family for creating this situation.
Do I know how that'd resolve itself? No.
But I can see there being difficulties and complications - the Phantom Thieves and Yaldabaoth would still be a thing, Akechi would still want to hand himself in if he's still alive, Hakuba would be torn between the law and knowing he's got a missing relative in front of him he's only just met (and, maybe, wondering if that could have been him if he'd never had the privileges he had).
Or, perhaps, Hakuba only finds out after it's all over, and is told by Akira that the guy he's looking for isn't around in a way that Hakuba recognises only too well (you were too late, you missed him, if you'd only been faster).
If so, Akechi eventually turning out to be alive, and Hakuba getting the chance to wonder aloud if dating criminals runs in the family, perhaps, with Akechi and Akira in earshot.

DS9 S1 E16 - If Wishes Were Horses
I was pleasantly surprised when it was revealed that it *wasn't* a holodeck situation and it was actually just some weird entities showing up to survey us after Bashir made a different Jadzia show up. I was REALLY worried it was going to be another Creepy Reg situation. That being said, horn dog Bashir is not it. I am not here for him being all weird for women. When Riker did it, his horniness was respectful. When Kirk was horny, it was mostly respectful (given the time some things were def iffy). Bashir is just... gross.
I love that Odo's "fantasy" was to chase giant birds around the Promenade.
I also think I ship Odo and Quark lol
Not in any meaningful way cause I'm not gonna go reading any fics about them but while I watch the show I am absolutely getting subtext vibes from them lol
I like how Sisko figured it all out. The way he calmed down his team felt rushed (in a writing sense) but it worked.
I also loved Miles reading to his daughter. He is adores his family and I am here for it.

"I know up to five necromancy facts now." girl listen we both know that is not why he looked at you that way. you have always known well over five necromancy facts. but you have to dismiss the inherent horror of what's been done to you before anyone slower than Palamedes can catch up and start to feel bad for you. pity would make it so much worse.

Ten Good Things
So I hopefully feel better about my circumstances With as little sarcasm as possible I spend a lot of time wishing things were different, dreaming of better things for myself, longing for what I will never have. I need to learn to be grateful for what I’ve got in front of me, regardless of the things I wish I didn’t have. If wishes were horses. 1. I am a mother to an amazing kid. 2. I am…

I'm building shit, and I have to know...
Why has no one made a free-standing sink that you can just plop on any counter? Like this one for TS2:
I don't care if you can't put it literally anywhere like that sink, but just a simple, bowl-style sink that you can plop on any counter or counter-height table and that doesn't sink into the counter and that isn't attached to a counter. The only one I've found for TS3 only works with the separate counter that comes with it, which isn't the same height as a standard counter, and it won't "stick" on an OMSP, so I can't be sneaky/cheaty that way. Surely this can be done, right? Right?
Of course, now that I'm yelling about it, someone will point one out to me and I'll feel like a complete idiot. My Google-fu sucks, y'all.
(Also: Why does TS2 have all the good shit?)
