i am thinking how much poorer, how much less colorful the world would be if art was only made by "professionals." if all the music, all the stories, all the sketches & paintings & craftwork of the world was created only by the small category of people able to make a decent living from their art. imagine if the only people allowed to create were the experts & the renowned & those aspiring to the top. what a grey world that would be. how much joy would be bleached away! i love you people who create for the sake of creating, i love you artists who do art for tiny audiences, i love you people who make things even just for one person, even just for themselves, even if no one's watching, thank you thank you thank you for decorating the world in which we all exist

-since he’s a freelancer he can generally come with you wherever you go for tours and interviews, and because of this he’s had quite the increase of fame, getting new perspectives and ideas for new photographic series

-he gets v e r y clingy when you come home from practice late, this whole ass 5′10 man curling up next to you, burying his head in your chest, and with your arms having no where else to go except for go around him, you earn a small whimper from V, his hands clinging onto your shirt as you feel all the tension and stress leave his body

-please dont leave your husband alone for so long

-overall he’s just extraordinarily proud of you, because he knows how hard it is to stay relevant and survive in the any korean industry, but especially entertainment and music

-hates when you go on tour

-cant help but admit he likes your music

-shy bean when he remembers he’s married to one of the top Kings of Kpop, and always wondering if he’s enough for you

-at one point he got so frustrated at the fact that it’d been exactly 46 days since he’d last seen you, and the constant string of thirst everyone showed for HIS husband on social media got to him so much that he shows up at the airport where hundreds of screaming fangirls await. your bodyguards recognize him immediately and let him through.

-he promptly takes your arm as he drags you back and away into the plane, pressing you up against the wall as he kisses you intensely, bottled up frustration exploding in passion, leaving the fans very confused as to why someone kidnapped you again

Your writing style doesn't matter as much as you might think

To explain clearly what I mean, I need to give a real life example.

There is in my main fandom this one fic. Mountains of hits and comments, appears first when you sort by numbers of kudos. Absolutely beautifully written. Each time I take a peek, my breath is taken away by the style, the prose, the precise choice of words. Each sentence is terse, each paragraph full of meaning, expressed with such amazing similies and metaphors I often reread the same sentence just for the sake of it. I have rarely seen such a wonderful style, even in published fictions. The richness of the vocabulary betrays a undoubtable expertise of the english language from the author.

What is the story? I don't know. I stopped after two chapters because it was boring as fuck.

On the other hand, I stumbled on this other fic. Far more modest stats, but still decent. The author's first language isn't english, and it shows. The wording is sometimes weird, and there's a few typos (Very few! And manageable). The style is pretty flat, and clumsy from time to time (repetitions which stand out, for example).

And I can't stop reading that. From the first chapter, I was immediately taken in. Not by the style, but by the story, and especially by certain scenes. The main character desperately wants to adopt. He takes care of his friends' children, and when they leave, he misses them. There's no fancy writing, far from it. It ends with "MC looked around his empty apartment which was so alive a few seconds ago. Cartoons were still playing." See, it's as simple as you can make it. It's not the wording that makes this beautiful, but what it describes. An empty room with a tv playing cartoons for children.

Do you get my point?

I used to worry so much about my prose, spending hours just for choosing the right words. But all that energy might have found better usage had I decided to craft scenes like this. The best words in the world won't help you if they tell nothing. Drying paint is drying paint, not even Shakespeare could make that interesting.

An average style is enough to communicate the power of a powerful scene, but an average scene will always be average at best, no matter the style. (this is just my opinion though, feel free to voice your disagreement)

If your scene is beautiful, we will see it. Don't tear your hairs over the style and the prose. Don't make the mistake of focusing to much on how to tell something rather than on what to tell (I did that mistake too many times...). The latter matters more.
