It's funny how when Anyone But You came out, I recall seeing people saying how this film will "save" rom-coms but I found it to be "meh", nothing special. Also worth pointing out that Love in Taipei (starring Ross Butler and Ashley Liao) and If You Were the Last (starring Anthony Mackie) were also rom coms but not a lot of people talk about them, then again both films had poc as the main romantic leads

Just finished watching If You Were The Last a few hours ago and I had to download it because it is just so beautifully shot. Just the way it uses lighting and color and even framing things just gets the photographer in me right here.

Anyways, these are TECHNICALLY spoilers, but just look at how these shots are! Like so visually pleasing I'm screaming

(Spoilers but has none of the main characters in them, so does it count? lol)

And not only that, the way it frames things is so...humanizing? There's a feeling of closeness but not necessarily in a voyeuristic way but it's also intimate and real and grounded? It's like "here, humanity and the mundane is beautiful without having to transform or disguise that fact away". Anyhow lol

Just checked this movie out on Peacock and damn if that wasn't right up my alley. Legit the type of film I grew up loving to discover on cable. This hit a sweet spot in my soul.

This is sci-fi for people who like romcoms. Between the cool 80s space crib and Anthony Mackie and Zoe Chao's off-the-charts chemistry, had me smiling all throughout. The third act feels a little rushed but this movie requires a lot of suspension of disbelief anyway so it doesn't ruin the experience entirely.
