MAFIA AU

In the light (or more precisely, the dearth) of Mafia AUs in this fandom, I have resolved to shut my trap and make my own.

BASELINE (Gerald, Ivo and the Family Business)

The founder and patriach of the Botnik Family Business is Gerald, and immediate family consists of Maria and Ivo, his surviving grandchildren.

The Family Business started off as a fairly powerful gang, due to Gerald's own efforts in commanding a good portion of DC and San Francisco. But it didn't REALLY take off until he took Ivo in as his right hand man after the deaths of Ivo's father, who had been his eldest son.

Gerald did most of the raising, in some sense of the word. He didn't like Ivo much--Ivo was a neurotic, combative, insubordinate and was even more ambitious than he was. But Ivo was a GENIUS.

Gerald paid for Ivo's education, middle school to every doctorate. He had 3 PhDs by 25. He had 5 by 30. He had 7, technically, on account of several new academic developments in medical industry, but Ivo had always regarded the last two were just "honorary."

Ivo respected Gerald, but he knew he could be better, could be greater than Gerald ever could be. He started developing weapons in high school, and it was his idea to establish a military liaison selling his inventions in college. They took off focus from crude revenues like "Protection rackets" and instead focused on global underground arms dealing, mercenary work, biochemical drug testing and organ harvesting. The Family Business exploded. They were calling it a proper "Empire." People were more scared of Ivo than they ever were of Gerald, and all these combined, Ivo and Gerald's relationship only got more tetchy as they grew.

MARIA

Gerald discovered Maria in his 90's, and Ivo's 50's. She's the daughter of an old mistress, left on his doorstep when she died of cancer. Gerald fairly adored Maria from the get go. She's sweet, charming, kind and obedient.

He doesn't say it out loud, but Ivo suspects Gerald plans to name Maria as his heir whenever he finally dies despite...everything. Ivo doesn't HATE her. He has too much affection for family, or he'd have killed off Gerald years ago. No, he wishes he could hate her, but he doesn't really. Maria thinks he does though, and is fairly confused and frustrated by Ivo's cold shoulder. She hasn't got any other family. She's 14.

SHADOW

Maria is closest with Shadow, who was a homeless orphan Gerald randomly takes a liking to when he found him in DC. Gerald liked his moxie. Up until he found Maria he treated the kid as some kind of foster son of sorts (Ivo thinks Gerald's gotten sentimental in his old age. He DOES hate Shadow.), so now he entrusts Maria to Shadow as her primary bodyguard. They have a sibling-like relationship. Shadow is 17.

STONE

Stone is Ivo's right hand man, bodyguard and assistant, and he has been so for a decade.

Stone is an ex-CIA who discovered the Robotnik through work and has, shall we say, developed an obsessive one sided crush on Ivo through the years.

Like he's heard of Ivo since his years in active military duty, and his inventions never fail to be groundbreaking. And they only grow more and more impressive over time.

He's been trying to find a way to get on Ivo's radar for years. He gotta be smart with it. He got his chance when he was deployed for a retrieval mission by a ticked off general. It's an off-the-book mission. His fascination with the Mad Doctor is an open secret among the ranks, and his perfect ops record made him the perfect agent for the job. Ivo had managed to get some dirt on him that he's threatening to use as blackmail, and he needs Stone to steal it back from him.

Stone uses the opportunity to prove his worth. He steals the data, and "slips up", getting caught. He confronts Ivo face to face, and reveals his intentions to be an interview of sorts. Proving the fact that he had succeeded in his mission nonetheless. Ivo was greatly amused (and slightly impressed) by the sheer recklessness, audacity and skill.

He tells Stone to prove himself by assassinating the General who sent him on the mission in the first place, and to do it in 5 hours. Stone succeeds in 3. Ivo hires him. The rest is history.

MISCELLANEOUS

Rouge, Omega, Cubot and Orbot and Sage are all part of the family as well! Human AU. They are all Shadow's inner circle, and are exceptionally fond of Maria.

The goons are called Badniks, which consist of both human people and mass produced drones. 90% of any added human goons are done by Gerald. Ivo works primarily with his drones, because he thinks people are too "squishy, annoying, stupid and inefficient." The divide in loyalty is clear but unspoken--the drones and tech are more loyal to Ivo, and the people (save maybe a few like Stone, Metal and Sage) are more loyal to Gerald.

Ivo usually hates like. Touch and bodily fluids. He wears long sleeves and gloves. But he DOES enjoy killing and maiming and the like. He thinks its entertaining as all get out. Nothing like a good torture session to let off some steam.

Ivo walks with a cane sometimes. Not for any specific reason he just looks hot.

I have way too many alts that I keep to myself (which is why I generally refrain from posting them), but I'm going to ignore that habit for a moment just because I'm feeling particularly insane about this guy.

When Gideon is telling his story of escaping enslavement in episode 45, he fabricated the story a little bit. At the parts when he made a joke about telling some guy he fucked his Mom or made himself sound cool, he was lying because the real story is more terrifying and upsetting than he wants to share so he made it more funny and entertaining for everyone's sake. There was probably lots of moments when hobgoblins tried to pull him back or nearly shot at him and probably called him slurs. He gave them the more PG version of the story.

This is a true fact.

I think so too. The joke was funny, and maybe he even thought about saying it when he was planning his escape, but it would have been a fucking terrifying situation.

Gideon doesn't *like* being terrified. He's supposed to be the bodyguard, the strong guy, the brick wall that stops people from hurting his friends. If he's scared...what then? He hesitates, he stumbles. If that happened even *once*, all his friends could die, he could lose his new life.

Or what if after sharing the *real* story, people thought he was weak? That he wasn't worth having around because he couldn't handle some hobgoblins, so how could he handle any business in the real world? Gideon knows that the situation was difficult, in fact many would have died in his place, but it doesn't stop him from thinking he could have been better.

And, maybe not worse than that but definitely not helpful, the *pity* is almost painful. I think perhaps he's only really told Kremy everything. Kremy doesn't do pity. Kremy treats him like a grown ass man who isn't looking for some faux sympathy but, like, a friend. Maybe some reassurance, comfort even. Anything but pity.

So yeah, it's all one big joke. In the past, forgot it all already. Just a little 10 year notch in the fantastic life of Gideon Coal. It's so funny guys. It's absurd to think how I could have been scared. Don't give me that look. We are laughing. It's so hilarious that I can't stop thinking about it over and over and over and over again. I replay it in my head all the time, for fun. The shaking, the tears, the hyperventilating. It's just cause it's so fucking funny.

For so long, he didn't give a damn about anything. But now he has both a reason to care and to live....

He's not the man he once was in a far different lifetime, but he owns up to the past that has followed him in a new existence. Because someone like Laure treats him like a person, grows as a person with him, and relates to him as someone people often look down on, he fucking cares that she's suffering from selfish choices made once a upon a time.

He doesn't blame her for hating him. But at the same time, he doesn't want to go on living if that one person who matters to him despises him.

But she doesn't hate him.

She hates the King and all that he has done.

But she doesn't hate *him*, Flame Face. Her friend, her partner, her Chosen One.

Their relationship started out shaky but it had grown to the point where they placed their trust/faith in their friendship then a prophecy that clearly was just a huge set up to get rid off two self centered royals.

I still have mixed feelings about this show, but having this flame headed idiot finally have a friend gives me live and feels. 😭😭😭😭

I made another official ref for an AU of Bingo/Brandy. Her name is Fang in this universe.

(I also drew her for a kloktober prompt and also finalized her design that satisfies me)

Anyways, in this universe, she’s the adopted daughter of the Metal Masked Assassin. He and his brother took a different route this time and ended up in the forest where she stayed. After many encounters—especially the same event where she intercepts the bobcat attack—they decide to take her in. Unlike her original self, her animalistic behavior is encouraged more and she takes after MMA and his brother—being aggressive, assertive, and protective.

Curtis Armstrong was preoccupied with the American Dad panel, so John DiMaggio is filling in for him in the role of Dan. I wanted to share this bit where Chris is revealed to be a Strawberry Shortcake fan and calls himself a mancake, parodying the ongoing rise of bronies at the time.

Hey guys, so if you know Baldur's Gate 3 this is an AU for that with Hardenshipping but it's really fucked up. I will explain why it's fucked up below the cut.

Maxie is a High Half-Elf Warlock (his patron is Groudon), and Archie's a Human Fighter <3

I took a ton of inspiration for various things for these designs, including Guile for Archie's armor bc I love Guile sm!!

I'm going to tell you this now... this gets really fucking crazy and honest to god I know I'm going to have a hard time explaining this. It WILL be quite long and I WILL be yapping.

This AU is really just something we did on impulse and it's really fun to mess around with, so I'm hoping you all will enjoy the concept as well :)

Anyways, okay so imagine how one could do a bg3 AU for these two fuckers...

And throw it right out the window because you'll never guess how me and my friend have done it.

The Backstory:

This all started when my friend decided to play BG3 for the first time, and he jokingly said to me "Should I make Maxie our main character??" and I replied "I you want, but I won't force you" and thus BG3 Maxie was created, and his misadventures began.

Now your probably wondering (if you've played the game) what about the guardian?? Who did we make the guardian?? Well, we made Archie the guardian. However, I did not know just how wild this idea would get within the next few days.

So, eventually we realized how crazy the BG3 lore actually is (it's a like fucking DnD campaign idk how we didn't realize this beforehand), and so, we jokingly started our own "AU Lore" that ties in with the BG3 Lore.

If you really want to know, I have an entire note in my notes app dedicated to keeping track of what happens. It is very long.

The Parasite:

Now, if you've played the game or know anything about it, you know about the Mindflayer parasites. Well, one fateful day, me and my friend joked that the Parasite in Maxie's head was this little freak who looks like Archie.

The two have no correlation other than looks, its completely coincidence and it's not a mimic situation. The Parasite "Archie" does nothing but talk nonsense to Maxie all the time, and initially the bit was that he only talked about Fortnite. All because I made the joke that the dream realm in game looked like a fortnite update. By now, that bit has fallen off (thank god), replaced by just general nonsense and lies.

Also he fucking looks like this:

Weird little freak. This is just one of his talk sprites I have, this is just his neutral expression.

So basically it's:

- Maxie was supposed to be on a Geology research trip, but instead he got dragged into the Parasite issue with the rest of the companions. He really just wants to get home to Archie.

I am the one who handles everything for Maxie in this AU, I do his voice, I handle his lore, etc.

- Parasite Archie is this 1 foot tall, neco arc-esque version of Archie that sits on Maxie's shoulder and tells him nonsensical things. He also says Maxie's name wrong, he says Maxie's full first name and pronounces it as "Maximilliam" instead of the "N" at the end. For Maxie it's like handling a toddler but the toddler fights back, doesn't shut up, and threatens your life. He also has a ton of his own lore that my friend continously adds on to, so I can make another post with just the parasite's part of things.

My friend handles everything with the Parasite himself, comes up with the lore, does the voice, etc. I simply keep track of it.

- The "dream visitor" version of Archie is not real either. It's linked to the Parasite in ways that if I get into it, I will spoil a good chunk of the game. Sorry. Just know you can consider this and Parasite Archie kind of as one in the same almost.

- The REAL Archie is still at home, completely unaware of what's happening, while Maxie is fighting for his life. He does miss him, though, and hopes he gets home soon. He and Maxie are only boyfriends, they haven't gotten married yet. (They also haven't been through their rivalry yet, as this all takes place before that happens.)

Sorry for the convoluted yap sesh, I just have more art planned for this stupid AU and- God I cannot possibly just post this shit with no context. Like, I'd have to explain it eventually so I might as well do it now beforehand yk 😭😭

I might do separate posts with our HCs and some silly conversations that have happened between Parasite Archie and Maxie if you guys would want that :)

Also, I do have all of the sessions from where my friend plays the game recorded and I'll be sure to post some clips of what Parasite Archie sounds like eventually, possibly with snippets of my shitty Maxie voice in there as well. You'll get to see the talk sprites in action with that, too.

the fourth magical girl was taking a little longer to complete, but she's here now! this girl's casual and magical designs are based on the costume of people from the Republic of Adygea!

a temporary description for her character is included below:

Nuryat (21 years old):

- is demanding, irritable and snobbish; she is in charge of one of the parts of the army

- wants to get recognition from Rimma for her services; faithfully follows all her orders (I think, Rimma will be the general of the army of wizards as a whole)

- has the ability to control the earth

- is dismissive of Tasya - it won't be too hard for Nuryat to take away the magic solar stone from an oaf like her, right?

in Adyghe culture, the costume itself is meant to be modest, therefore its patterns aren't usually intricate - the costume's beautiful complexity lies in the sewing technique of its golden elements

and golden sewing technique wasnt reserved only for costumes - various household items were also made with it (such as bags, hand fans, towel holders, scissor cases, wall decorations, clock holders, etc.)

clock holders are fascinating to me, because it shows how revered clocks were at that time... you don't make a piece like this for any random item in a house!

here are the golden-sewn items up close: i was so impressed, when i looked at these items closely, no wonder it took weeks or months to make just one golden element for a dress

i'd like to share one more thing about the costume itself, before ending the post: the evolution of the kaftan* that occured over the course of the 19th century.

*in this case, by 'kaftan' i mean the russian understanding of it - a suit with pectoral buttons and tight sleeves

in an interesting twist of events, it seems that before the 19th century the kaftan was worn either without a sai dress, or underneath it. but as some time passes, the kaftan begins to lose its parts little by little.

by the end of the century, it has dissolved into a breast plate, waist pendants and sleeves - the only parts that are visible from underneath the sai dress.

overall, fascinating!
