It has been an honor to serve as the first Black Chair of the Young Neurosurgeons Committee under the leadership of Dr Shelly Timmons, the first woman neurosurgeon president of the AANS. I even brought out the bow tie for the 2nd time ever. On my notes for my last meeting, I had a list of some of the things we've accomplished during my tenure, but I ended my brief address to the committee by emphasizing the diversity of our YNC group. Reposting @sheila_derm_md People literally tell me I’m crazy for moving to Tucson, Arizona (“you look like an LA or Miami person”) but when my fiancé and I visited we just knew. We both instantly felt those vibes plus it is a great place to be for a dermatologic oncology surgeon and astrophysicist ☺️. It reminds me of Austin, TX ~10 years ago before the congestion (hook ‘em). I’m totally someone who goes with their intuition..plus nothing is forever��we plan to move back to Spain at some point later in life too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s typically not easy moving to place where you don’t know any anyone but I find it exciting.
