yes, doctors suck, but also "the medical ethics and patient interaction training doctors receive reinforces ableism" and "the hyper competitive medical school application process roots out the poor, the disabled, and those who would diversify the field" and "anti-establishment sentiment gets applications rejected and promotions requests denied, weeding out the doctors on our side" and "the gruesome nature of the job and the complete lack of mental health support for medical practitioners breeds apathy towards patients" and "insurance companies often define treatment solely on a cost-analysis basis" and "doctors take on such overwhelming student loan debt they have no choice but to pursue high paying jobs at the expense of their morals" are all also true
none of this absolves doctors of the truly horrendous things they say and do to patients, but it's important to acknowledge that rather than every doctor being coincidentally a bad person, there is something specific about this field and career path that gives rise to such high prevalence of ableist attitudes
and I WILL elaborate happily

leaving a three hour lab be like:
what time is it? why is it dark outside? where did the sun go?
I'm starving.
I'm never doing that again (literally has the same lab scheduled the following week).

Studying cuz I’m paranoid.
Then I went to work and fought for my life we r definitely in a recession cuz my work is not hiring anyone and stretching us thinnnn. Came back and ate 500g of sugar and im going to call in sick for two weeks cuz smth def happened to my spine… and I blame work.
Anatomy is actually fun when I don’t have a deadline to work towards like. Also study tip if you have a trampoline listen to ur notes/ lecture and jump around idk how but it helps me remember better. Also need to start actually working on my internship projects cuz they have been so patient w me and I haven’t done anything for a few months cuz of uni exams.

today's post is extra special because so many of you have been asking about extracurriculars for medical school!! if you know, my ultimate dream is to become a doctor, i'd love to either be a psychiatrist or a cardiologist, so anything medical-related is my favorite cup of coffee!! i'm literally so excited to share this comprehensive guide that will help you shine on your future applications. this post is for you if you're in high school or college, this guide will be your bestie through the journey!!
~ ♡ for my precious high school sweethearts ♡ ~
hospital + healthcare volunteering (my absolute fave!!) • aim for 100-150 hours minimum • try different departments to explore • build relationships with nurses + staff • pro tip: volunteer during summer break for more hours • keep a reflection journal of your experiences • bonus: ask for recommendation letters if you connect well!!
research opportunities • reach out to local universities • email professors about summer programs • join science fairs with medical projects • create your own research project • tip: start with literature reviews if labs aren't available • document everything for future applications!!

Days 8-16 of 100 Days of Productivity🩵
I’m gonna summarize this week because it wasn’t the greatest. It was a bit of a rot week, even though I did my best to get some work done I was really struggling. I think I need to ease up on the video games IMO, so that will be my goal for this coming week!

May 28th, 2024 | Library review/ a dreary day
It’s been a while. I’ve still been studying, but have forgotten to update this blog regularly. Right now I’m in the middle of MCAT prep and thesis writing and trying to keep on track. I’ve fallen a touch behind on MCAT so today’s the day I desperately try to claw to the surface (for lack of a better metaphor).
Hope you’re all doing well and studying hard.
