Billy’s seen the toll it’s taking on John. And he gets some of it- that Becca’s worried for her son, that Ryan’s breakable to his dad’s strength. But John’s never hurt ether of them. Ever. “You’re fucking ‘im up WORSE.” 

Becca runs shaking hands over her face. She’s pale, tired. And Butcher sees the shadows under her eyes with a pang in his chest. “Billy, i’m just scared.”

“Scared o’ what? That Ryan turns out like his dad? Ain’t such a bad thing, if ya ask me.”

3. Describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic

For your reading displeasure, the general thought process as i write:

"OKAY! GOT AN IDEA! TIME TO WRITE! *writewritewritewrite*....hmm. *write....write* wait shit no that was a fucking typ-oh for fuck's sake *editeditwritewrite* wait no that sentence is...no wait a second *editeditDELETEwrite...write* oh shit that was a good one! *writewrite* eh, a break is in order methinks. a short one. [INTERMISSION OF UP TO A WEEK] okay back to it *writewritewrite...write.....write........* OH GOD THIS HAS BEEN IN MY DOCS FOR TOO LONG IM FINISHING THIS RIGHT THE HELL NOW *WRITEWRITEWRITEWRITEWRITE* done!...is it 2 am?...oops. *quick edit, post* Okay! now to lay in my bed and write nothing for a week!"

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

Too many, you know this Becc. I got one where MK tries to get Wukong and DBK to reconcile, another general thing with Baiken and Eri (also just assume I have SOMETHING in mind for either or both of these two at any given time), and a few more you'll have to wait for ;)

18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

Usually after, though there are some times where I come up with a REALLY good title on accident that just NEEDS a fic to come with it. And I usually just think of something off the top of my head. Usually something metaphorically or thematically relevant that you don't have to scratch your head over too much.

19. What is the most-used tag on your ao3?

I dunno! Let's check!....to the surprise of absolutely no one it is, in fact "Eri" for character tags with a whopping 21 fics! As for general tags "Drabble" is at 11 with "angst" at a very close second place with 10. neat!

24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?

Okay not gonna go with "kill your darlings" this time because sometimes YEAH death can be a useful trope sure whatever it has some merit so i won't keep beating on it.

I think there was one about writing habits "just keep picking away!" like with persistence. literally NEVER worked for me. early on when I just started writing I'd just sit in front of an empty word doc feeling bad about myself instead of just closing it when I figured no writing was going to happen today so I should just cool my head off instead.

jay always wrecked me hard but after seeing him in seattle I had to officially become a hyung line biased 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 they all kill me.

"I thought you liked music!" Gaby has to raise her voice over the melody pounding into the walls of the club around them. "Illya said you had a record player!" "I prefer it when it doesn't make my ears bleed!" Solo yells back, but he can tell from the way Gaby replies with a shout of 'What?!' that she can't hear him anyway, so he gives up.

Comfort (from The Istanbul Affair):

Which is probably what’s going to happen when Sanders comes calling after this whole show’s over. If they survive, that is. He’d be a fool to assume that his handler would let the noose slip. But still… it’s almost comforting. “Du siehst beschissen aus,” Gaby observes, before she prods at the underside of his jaw. “Danke,” says Solo dryly. He’s aware that there’s blood dried on his upper lip, probably from what he’s almost certain is a fractured nose. Not to mention the various bruises on his skin. Or around his eye. “You look lovely, as usual.” “Idiot,” she mutters, but he can feel her smaller hands curl around his arm, hanging on. Can feel the callouses through the fabric of his shirtsleeve.

I wouldn’t marry him even if I liked men.” Ah. Now he understands. “But I think he’ll warm to you,” she adds, and then she smiles. It’s a small thing- bright in the gloom. “If you give him a chance.”

Beneath: "Unnamed Hostage Situation"

Solo takes a breath to keep talking, stalling for time while he figures out the best course of action, but he stops short. Illya hasn't moved, and his feral look has turned predatory. Uh-oh. Under his breath, in Russian, Illya tells him, “I can take the shot. End this now.” “He is too close. You will only be putting the girl in danger,” Solo hisses back beneath the slide of metal on wood. Illya's eye twitches. It's as good a concession as Solo will get. The mark is glued to Illya, who is in turn glued to him like a marble statue hiding a blow dart.

Danger: "Single Dad Solo / Ballet Instructor Illya"

Solo's heart is pounding in his ears, fear and confusion warring with protective rage, but he finds himself frozen to the spot. It takes him a few seconds to understand why. It isn't only the mothers who are snickering. The girls are screeching with joy. Huge grins are plastered onto their faces and the screams intermittently turn to giggling. They don't think that they are in any danger. They must not understand. But why are the parents going along with this? Surely they understand the weight of the instructor's words, his cold glare. Who would let anyone speak to their child like this?

Darkly: "I Am Your Lover (I Am Your Jailor)"

That is why there were no hounds. Illya's stomach churned, watching the injured beast. A snare trap was cowardice. An easy way out. It was wrong. “Give me a hand, will you? You have armor on,” Solo asked darkly, dismounting his horse. Hands trembling with the rage that made his blood run hot, Illya dismounted as well and approached the tree. The fox picked up its thrashing again, getting wilder with every step closer.

Wound: "Are You Afraid? (However Could You Not Be?)"

The pain of the wound has eased over time, so somehow his leg is healing, despite the dampness of the blood still soaking his pants. To keep his sanity, Illya stopped trying to puzzle out how time passes in this place. In any case, he can put pressure on it without collapsing. So he hobbles to each door, leaning heavily on the wall. The first door he tries leads to nothing but a barren storage room. A few shelves hold rusted metal cans and sealed jars of murk, strung with dust and cobwebs. Some have collapsed, rotted under the weight of mildew and frost, and shards of glass glisten beneath them. Grimacing, Illya pulls it shut again and limps to the second door. He reaches for the doorknob, but pauses halfway. It's been kicked in.

The horrible feeling of looking at something at the farmers market, the vendor talking to you, but you knowing all along you can't buy it but the vendor keeps talking and talking and talking and you feel really really bad but you simply cannot bring home these wheat infested cakes home or even in your car where your celiac girlfriend usually is and honestly you ONLY just Glanced at the cakes and the dude started talking to you about them for 5 minutes telling you how good they are and you think hm maybe i could buy some for my grandparents but that still means putting this gluten item in my car, me holding this gluten item in my hand, both things my girlfriend touches regularly and still has a hard time holding my hand even if I've washed my hands 5 times after touching the gluten.
