might be some controversial takes about Hazbin/Helluva under the cut but honestly I really don't know what the popular consensus is about any of it. I'm gonna try to keep these short but here's a list of thoughts I have so far.

-I'm interested in where Hazbin could go. The concept of rehabilitation for sinners and how the meaning of rehabilitation could change, as well as the unbalanced power of heaven vs. hell and who are the true sinners is very interesting.

-I don't find myself laughing at the humor of any of these shows. It feels like the kind of humor that's only supposed to shock you with the vulgarity. Which is only really funny to a teenager, not the intended adult audience.

-the music is hit or miss, mostly miss. The Hazbin pilot songs I particularly did not enjoy.

-the animation and design are nice, tho I'm not really sure who to credit with that, as I have been made aware that Vivziepop tends to take "inspiration" from artists in an informal manner.

-really do not like the sound design. The noises are obnoxious, the volumes are all over the place and there have been times where I cannot hear what characters are saying.

-voice acting is pretty good. I understand that fans got very upset when a lot of the actors for Hazbin had to be recast with union members and tbh I'm not bothered by that. Support unions.

-im worried about what they're gonna do with Vaggie. She's starting out as the partner to the main character but she's also been established as the "PC" character who annoys the fan favorites Angel Dust and Alastor.

-I'm not at all interested in Alastor, he looks like a satire of the Vivziepop style.

-Angel Dust is interesting, and I'm not too bothered by seeing an openly and overtly queer character, even if it's not sanitized. I am a little concerned about how quickly his character depth was revealed long before the first season is even finished. Could Viv really not wait to talk about Angel Dust that much? What will be left to explore in the show?

-also like, we are getting a LOT of content for Hazbin including a spinoff already on its second season, tons of merch and lots of droplets of information that end up on the wiki BEFORE the first season of the show is even out and it doesn't feel right, like the crew is celebrating the success of the show before its even out. Weird stuff. Not sure if it's gonna bite them in the ass yet.

-the Helluva pilot was not enjoyable at all and I didn't actually start watching the show until the second season

-I actually don't mind too much what's being done with Stolas. It makes sense that a person with very few friends and trapped in an arranged marriage with a cruel partner would make the decisions that he has, regardless of whether or not they are the right ones.

-What I am concerned with is if the story with Stolas was planned from the beginning, or if it was decided later on to recontextualize his character when they crew decided they liked Stolas more than as just a cutaway gag in the pilot.

-Moxxie and Millie are... okay. On one hand it's nice to see throughout everything Moxxie has been through, as well as literally being in Hell, he still retains his kindness, empathy and love for his wife. Millie is... okay, but I get the feeling that she exists to keep Moxxie from becoming the series punching bag, like as compensation. Or a way to inject some "wholesomeness" into our main characters. I keep hearing that a Millie episode is on the way, but I don't know what really to expect.

-as a furry/scalie who isn't into canine anthros, I'm not into Loona.

-I'm interested in seeing more of what the other rings of Hell look like, tho I fear that the Gluttony ring is going to be filled with fatphobic jokes.

-The action scenes are usually pretty cool, tho with the Vivziepop style it can be a bit eye-strain-y for me.

-vivziepop stans are scary. seeing them jump to her defense whenever she faces a major criticism is frustrating and it only incites a bigger wave of criticism. see this post if you want my extended thoughts about it.

-this series is being produced, written and released in a way I don't think I've ever seen so I'm gonna try to keep an open mind about it, but that does not mean I'm gonna enjoy it blindly NOR am I gonna nitpick it. I'm gonna keep up with it and maybe share more of my thoughts, tagged accordingly and under 'read more' lines.

-i forever and always stan thancred's cockblocking nutkin. i just hope he actually gives it a name this time. he cant see his daughter yet and has empty nest syndrome so he adopted nutkin proper. crying -the only scions on the key art are krile, urianger, and thancred. and so my guess is that they'll be on our team for whatever "clash" we're gonna have. other scions will have their own team. which i am, of course, happy for. id cry to be separated from my bf -femhroth look good, i wish their snouts were a little fuller and looked a bit more proper furry, but what we have now is fine. im glad theyre stocky and muscular and not lithe and dainty. definitely making an alt for one -saw what looked to be an ascian symbol on the 8 man raid promo art and saw someone mention it kinda looks like altima, who governed the arts in the convocation. that will be really interesting if thats the case bc altima has lore in my headcanon and katsu meeting them will be... something. -im really glad we have more options for au ra eyes, i really like the brght inner eyes. hopefully the same change will extend to limbal rings. the other graphics options look great

-GOOD GOD am i glad that the second dye slots will probably be metal, because there are so many pieces i dont like using bc theyre exclusively silver while katsu's a gold kinda guy. very happy about that

-definitely picking up pictomancer since katsu has been an artist for a while. not going to use it mid-MSQ, probably, gonna leave that for krile, but maybe he'll learn it from her post MSQ. it will be my first proper casting class (aside from BLU) so thatll be fun :)

-i still have my post ARR fantasia so if i really wanted, i could use the free one theyre giving us in 7.0 and change back to katsu after...... much to think about. i am not decided though

Heya, thanks for the question! It's a good one with a lot of answers.

Even though proper species affirming medical care doesn't exist yet (though it is being actively researched!), there are still a myriad of options for nonhuman presentation.

One avenue is dress and accessorizing: Fursuits, animal masks, accessories such as ears, tails, horns, scalemail, costume fangs, costume wings, colored contacts, etc. etc.

Tattoos, facepaint, and makeup can also be part of it. Using these things, one can create the appearance of scales, a more animal-like face, the seams of a robotic chassis, and all sorts of other things.

And there is also body modification. Creatures like elves and vampires can achieve some very good results through ear pointing and tooth sharpening or piercings that resemble fangs. And even less humanoid beings can still benefit from this avenue! For example, Tiamat Medusa, a dragon, has a split tongue, no outer ears, and ridges made with silicone implants around her face and head that make her look more reptilian/draconic.

As for myself, I have a few different horn accessories, realistic costume satyr legs, and a hoodie that has a remarkably similar pattern to the way my void-self looks. Irt my undead identity, I plan on getting some stitch tattoos eventually. I haven't gotten the chance yet due to Circumstances™.

And since I'm an artist, whenever I draw myself, I always draw an approximation of what I plan to go for when species transition becomes possible instead of how I look irl.

Perhaps most crucially of all, I have surrounded myself with many kind, open-minded people who accept me. It may not get rid of the problem, but it really, truly does make it 100x easier to deal with.

mainly just talking to myself here about a random thing i remembered, this isnt a pressing issue at all lolol just my brain doing its thang

when i was still browsing the cesspool that was instagram reels there was a trend going around that was like, "guess my age based on how i draw eyes" or something like that. i feel like "guess my age based on my art" is also a part of this general trend.

its probably long dead by the time i write this, but i started thinking that maybe the premise of that trend is just inherently flawed. the idea of "can you gauge how old i am based on my style/how i draw x" kinda implies, to me at least, that there is some kind of correlation between age and how you draw. like someone with a very anime influenced style or with some amateurish/not fully developed techniques are around the young teen age range for example.

maybe its cuz a lot of online artists fall into the "ive been drawing since i was a toddler but only took art ~seriously~ when i was a teen (approximately around the anime/furry/what have you phase or just when you got a social media account. i say this as someone who falls into that category btw)" timeline of art development, so everyone's habits roughly fall around the same age range i guess??? but then i feel like we're ignoring people who post art online that like,,, didnt start developing their style til they were like, a young adult. i feel like it ignores people who are adults but arent like, grandmaster level yet lmao. adult artists who really are just starting out and therefore dont have as much practice as ppl who have held a crayon to draw with right outta the womb. and even then the latter group develop at different paces! so it feels like trying to name an age just by looking at someone's art just feels sort of pointless cuz skill doesn't really come with how old you are, it comes with how long you've been drawing and whatnot. if im makin sense. basically the trend that ive observed only really applies to a specific group of people and their general timeline of how they began developing their art, so the trend just feels kinda nothing.

also... guessing someone's age means Nothing. like, i show off how i draw my eyes, someone names a number or range they think is accurate... now what. do i giggle and cackle to myself when they guess wrong? what does it mean when someone guesses younger? i dont really get the whole idea behind it, even disregarding the stuff i mentioned previously. cuz again, age doesnt really correlate to art skill for most people??

i showed my art off to some friends on discord and someone said, based on how i draw the orbs, im in my early 20s. thats cool i guess. not really accurate. what does it mean tho???? that im like, pretty skilled but also not? i dont know. its a number. i guess. tho im probably overthinking it
