The opening for starters i like how they had danger sense make shigiaraki instinctively form flesh to protect himself before taking one for the team way to go and from there mahito just trying to whittle shigiaraki down actually had me worried for a moment

Shigiaraki copying deku was awesome i expected to do the crouch deku did against flect but omnimaning the train was just as good the job interview turned execution

This was the moment i knew mahito was done for rule of thumb if you went super first your the loser 99% of the time it's the thumb pose of death battle sorry mahito but you sealed your fate

These were being way to generous of mahito abilities but then again mahito was cooked either way being stuck in a omnilander level stomp with him being homelander so im not mad about it let him have something going for him

i was thinking how funny it would be if on a 2025 bingo card someone had “creators of south park come out as swifties” on it and i’m now thinking of an episode surrounding taylor swift. i’m going to bullet point out my ideas, enjoy my south park brainrot:

we open on everyone in south park going crazy and running around

stan and kyle are confused and ask someone

they say taylor swift announced a one night performance in colorado and everyone is going crazy over taylor swift

some people are enthusiastic and losing their minds (going crazy and crying and ripping hair out type. this is going to mostly be the girls in town. maybe pc principle cause i think he’d be a swiftie for some reason, don’t ask i don’t know myself)

some people are protesting taylor swift though. they don’t like her and don’t want her in their state

the core four boys are confused on why no one is making sense on their opinion of taylor swift. and anyone they ask cannot give them a straight answer.

cartman realizes that he can gain power by being a hater. he becomes an active hater. but when kyle asks why he just gets defensive about it and gets mad

stan and kyle decide to just try to ignore it and wait for it to pass but wendy ends up being a huge swiftie and stan’s needs to get her autograph for wendy. this means they have to sneak into the concert and get the autograph, and the show sold out in 5 seconds and caused the entire internet to crash for 48 hours or something.

the entire episode is just surrounding the idea of taylor swift. people follow her to the airport and hotel.

most likely we’ll see cartman be on some tv show being interviewed and travis kelce is also there and they talk about her (they make jokes on him being dumb)

finally it ends with taylor taking the stage and stan+kyle sneak backstage to see her. when they meet her she’s scared but they apologize and are confused because they built her up as some big thing but she’s literally just a person.

stan decides he doesn’t need the autograph as a gift for wendy and they go home. cartman someone loses any relevance he had after a video of him singing love story a few years ago come out.

other details i think would be funny:

at some point someone says joever SUPER SERIOUSLY and stan says “what the f*ck is joever?”

A CRUCIAL point for the entire episode that i want to establish now is that at no point can anyone ever explain why they like or dislike her. there can be no points made. also, taylor swift cannot be shown on screen or if she is shown on screen she cannot speak. anytime anyone is talking about her they must talk OVER her and never listen to her point. THIS US FOR BOTH SIDES.

they refrence kayne west and kim karadashian but it’s random and it just causes everyone to get more angry

mr garrison is some how involved in all this even though he’s the president again

randy makes a special strand of weed called taylor swift and also one saying anti taylor swift to make money on both sides of the market. shelly and sharon both hate this but it does surprisingly well.

random things about her are mentioned that don’t relate to the topic at all. like “i just don’t like her music.” “oh, so you DONT want her to own her masters and achieve total world domination via music?” “what?! when did i say that” (im imagining that exchange is via kyle and pc principle)

howard has some kind of unintelligent DUDE YOURE A CHICK response, they both freak out, howard appraises her looks and shes like nothing changed why are you judging my appearance now??? howards like idk i guess it just occured to me. and then some dance themed mcfist robot gets involved and people appraise the entire fight by commenting on the ninjas figure, how she must be inspired by the guy ninja, she doesnt seem as competent, general sexism you see in the average youtube comments section. randys like wtj guys. and eventually she goes to morgan to ask her how to kill this thing and morgan is like absolutely, girls support girls, and they do it together and randy finally learns his lesson that having EVERY gold medal around your neck weighs you down because you just expect to win and cant handle the loss. and then goes back to the nomicon like ok i learned my lesson can i be a dude again now i hate people commenting on my body while im trying to do my job. but same as the art of disguise and the ninja supersenses it's one of those things where you need to master it or it masters you so its like nah you gotta do this one yourself chief. and so the final segment is him watching morgan win her high score back on the ddr machine and genuinely appraising her dance talent without bringing her gender or her looks into it and he pops back to normal and howard is eating nachos like oh thank god i thought you were gonna be a chick forever and we weren't gonna be able to play video games any more and randy is like howard did you learn ANYTHING from this and howards like idk girl ninja would be hot??? and thats the end of the episode

With sun rays caressing the markings on your back, you disconnected your queue from your exhausted Ikran and offered your hand to Kiri who has been accompanying you on the banshee throughout your journey to the reefs to seek refuge from the Metkayina clan. She grasped your hand, taking a notice of its rough surface, and slid off the creature with a huff.

The reception by the Metkayina was less than welcoming, especially by their tsahìk Ronal, who circled around your family with a spark of disapproval in her eyes. She lifted Kiri's hand to show her people the extra finger she shared with Lo'ak and your father, claiming you all have demon blood. You placed your hand on Kiri's shoulder to encourage her to move in front of you and escape the frightened looks of the Metkayina and earned a growl in return from the pregnant woman. Neteyam followed suit and pushed you in front of him to shield you from the curious children who tugged on your tail, giving the opportunity to the chief's siblings to acknowledge your presence.

That was when the disgust was replaced with unexpected interest.

Ao'nung began to study your every curve, each marking that decorated your different shade of blue, the way you scrunched your nose when his mother hissed at yours. He tilted his head slightly and took a notice of the matching bracelet you had with the eldest Sully child, frowning at the sight. It was clear that the two of you shared a strong bond and several facial features he found quite pretty on you, but on your brother? Not much.

He wasn't fond of your siblings and decided that it was his mission to make your stay and adapting to their culture difficult, except for you. Ao'nung, for some unexplainable reason, excluded you from his obnoxious teasing. Instead of fooling around and making fun of your frustration when you couldn't master your ilu, he offered you advice on how to do it properly.

His friends noticed the nice behavior towards you, especially after his gaze softened whenever you ran up to their group to rescue your younger siblings, Kiri and Lo'ak, from their nasty remarks. They started teasing him about it and with you passing by, they would playfully punch his shoulder and chant your name to catch your attention.

It's worth mentioning that they received some bruises from the firstborn of Tonowari and Ronal.

To Lo'ak's dismay, you couldn't adapt to the Metkayina ways and struggled to stick by their side underwater. Because Tsireya was busy teaching the rest of your siblings, Ao'nung was entrusted with the task of helping you out. That brought you closer to the Metkayina boy whether you liked it or not, but you weren't complaining. He brightened up your time under the water and showed you beautiful places you could only dream of visiting.

He would occasionally tease you around your brothers to reveal your newly created friendship and flick the back of your head with a toothy grin, making Lo'ak gag.

"Stop," you chuckled and swatted his hand away from your reddening cheek when he pointed out that his compliment made you blush. "Ao'nung, I mean it!"

The boy bit his bottom lip to stifle his laugh, letting you slap his knee. Ao'nung insisted that you take a break after you almost drowned because you were distracted by the colorful corals around you and forgot you had to resurface to breathe. Your side was pressed against his, the contrast of your skin color illuminating the surface of the rock you were sitting on, legs swaying in the clear water.

You pulled away from his turquoise body in thought, his hand slipping down your back in the process which left a trail of electricity behind. Ao'nung narrowed his eyes at your intense frown and shifted in his spot, uncertainty replacing the comfort he found by your side.

You turned to face Tonowari's son, allowing him to catch a glimpse of fear in your yellow eyes he grew to adore. "I was thinking," you began, his shoulders tensing under your gaze. "I mean- it's probably pretty stupid of me to ask, but.."

Ao'nung put his hand on your thigh and left gentle rubs behind as you exhaled deeply. You lifted your eyes to meet his light blue ones, your worry vanishing. "What if-- I don't know.." you trailed off and started to fidget with your fingers. He was patient and let you find the right words to use. "What if we meet here, tonight. Just for fun."

The corner of his lips curved upwards when you winced at your voice crack. He continued to massage your leg as he gazed at the horizon, debating his answer. "Or not! It's totally fine! It was stupid of me to even think--"

"Sure," he locked his eyes on you, soft smile decorating his face.

You slapped his shoulder playfully, scoffing. "You scared me! I literally thought you were going to decline."

Ao'nung chuckled, bringing his hands up. "My bad."

Pandora is always breathtaking during the day, but when the sun begins to set, the beauty of the moon increases.

You trailed a hand through the clear shallow water, your fingertips playing with the sand in boredom. To say you were disappointed would an understatement, but you weren't disappointed in Ao'nung, you hated yourself for believing he would actually show up.

You should've believed Lo'ak. You should've listened to him when he caught you sneaking out of your Marui to "get some fresh air before bed" and told you that your date won't show up, but you waved him off and asked him to cover for you while you were away.

With a heavy sigh, you picked yourself up and pulled out the blossoming flower Tuk plugged for you, twisting its stem between your fingers.

On your silent journey back to your Marui, you caught a glimpse of a familiar hairstyle standing out of earshot on the shore where Lo'ak swung his fist in Ao'nung's face for Kiri two weeks ago. It was hilarious to listen to afterwards. Kiri mimicked the surprised expressions of her bullies and recreated Lo'ak's effective punch.

You narrowed your gaze at the figure whose back was facing you and dropped the flower on the ground in shock.

Ao'nung was speaking to an awfully beautiful girl you stumbled upon when you were playing with the Metkayina children and Tuk in the afternoon. You felt imitated by her unique appearance with just one glance in her direction.

You scoffed at the sight in the distance and licked your lips. Crushing the blossom with your foot, you stormed past them with clenched fists and didn't dare to turn around when Ao'nung called after you.

Maybe you were naive to think he could return your feelings, but you definitely weren't the type of Na'vi who would cry their eyes out if their date didn't show up.

Ao'nung messed up, he was aware, but before he could reach you, you were pushing Neteyam out of the entrance of your new home.

The rest of the children runs out with a mix of screaming and laughing, trying to rescue their friend who is comfortably sitting in your arms.

"Y/n," your smile falls along with your shoulders, the sweet atmosphere changing. You place the girl down and face the owner of the voice, arms crossed over your chest. "Can you please let me explain--"

"What's there to say? That I sneaked out for you and you didn't bother to show up?"

"You sneaked out?" Tuk inquires, her hand landing on the side of your thigh. Your gaze widens, "Y/n!" your sister smacks your leg.

Oh, im full of ideas today apparently. One more mini prompt, not sure if it follos the requirements tho. Nmj is maybe of wrh generation, so far he has outlived any other nie. No one knows how and is not particularly chatty on it either.

Everyone called him eldest brother. 

Not just inconstant spoiled young men like Nie Huaisang, but everyone. From the youngest listing child to the wrinkled white-haired old elder - Nie Mingjue was everyone's eldest brother. He was conscientious and caring, checking in on them, scolding them for not taking care of themselves, cheerfully bullying them to do more training or their work or chores or whatever. He was dearly beloved, and also one of the most common targets of mutual grumbling. 

He had been there for a very long time.

His current position as sect leader was an aberration from the norm; usually, he remained firmly in the background, helping out with all sorts of things but responsible for none. It was only the premature death of the last sect leader, with little Nie Huaisang far too young to inherit, that had brought him out of the shadows, furiously mad and swearing vengeance. Despite the trouble such an oath would bring them all, the sect supported him and covered for him - they appreciated his rage on behalf of one of their own.

They didn't ask too many questions.

They didn't ask where he had come from or how exactly he was related to them; they didn't ask how old he was or how it was that he had never aged. The most popular theory, advanced under the covers of adolescent sleepovers, was that he was the original founder of the Nie sect, with Baxia the legendary butcher blade turned saber; the competing theory was that Nie Mingjue himself was that infamous saber, having cultivated to human form and decided to stick around to shepherd his master's descendants.

It didn't really matter, really. No matter who or what he was, he was their da-ge.

They loved him.

So when someone dared to try to hurt him...

"In all politeness, sect leader, fuck your revenge," Auntie Xiefei croaked, eyes red with rage that made Nie Huaisang inch back on well-justified terror. "I don't want a slow gentlemanly tearing off of that miserable bastard’s face. Now that we know who it was, I want him writhing on a pole and left for the birds to eat."

Nie Huaisang coughed. "I mean, it's not that simple, Auntie. He's the sect leader of Lanling Jin and Chief Cultivator, you know."

"He hurt da-ge! What do we care who he is?"

"It would start a war," Nie Huaisang protested.

"Let it!"

Nie Huaisang looked around his throne room, filled with bloodthirsty growls, and gulped. He didn't want to be a war leader.

"I wish Wei Wuxian was here," he said wistfully. "He could have helped get things back to normal."

"Is that what it'll take for you to agree to go ahead and fix this?" Auntie Xiefei growled. "Fine. We can fix that, and then you fix this. Right away. Agreed?"

"Uh," Nie Huaisang said intelligently. "I think Wei Wuxian’s body was completely destroyed, Auntie, and his soul doesn't respond to summons - the Jiang sect and the Lan sect have been trying..."

"Bah, what do they know?! Bloodless, toothless summons like theirs naturally won't get you anywhere - you need meat. Leave it to me. You get what you need on your side, and we will go get da-ge back. Got it?"

"Yes, Auntie. As you say, Auntie."

Nie Huaisang hoped that Wei Wuxian would be able to bring Nie Mingjue back...preferably before the Nie sect declared war on the rest of the cultivation world. A bit of a tall order, but he was sure Wei Wuxian would be up for it!

Season 4 Letters

Late 12th month, 100 AG Dear Fire Lord Zuko,

   Rebuilding the Southern water tribe is going along better than expected. So much had already changed by the time we got here. The benders from the north have made leaps and bounds in bending strong buildings. With the men finally back from the war we hope to have many newborns come end of next Spring and are building a hospital in expectation.    I’m writing to inform you that we will be proposing a formal medical exchange program at the First World Summit in 2 months, at the 6 month mark since the end of the war, in hopes of expanding our knowledge of healing by combining it with the herbal knowledge of the earth kingdom and the surgical knowledge of the fire nation. I am asking for your support of this program. An exchange of professional knowledge will not only be a sign of good faith and respect of other cultures on the fire nation’s part. It will also act as a symbol of the new age we are trying to build, one of mutual healing and support.

   I know it’s only been 3 months since we last all saw each other in Ba Sing Se, but I miss you and Toph. Suki and Sokka are doing well, with the help of our father, Sokka’s established a council of tribe members over seen by the chief to make decisions. Him and Suki are leaving for Kyoshi Island in a few days, Suki has new recruits to train and Sokka is traveling as “Son of the Chief” to formalize diplomatic ties with Kyoshi Island and Omashu. I think he’s just trying to avoid the days of endless sun coming up. I don’t know how they are going to make it work, but I hope they do. Aang's doing great, trying to be the avatar and mediate every conflict he comes across every chance he gets.    Tell me, how are you doing, How’s Mai? How’s Uncle? Has he driven you mad with tea and proverbs yet? Hows Toph? I know things are still rough with her parents. Uncles idea of taking her on as a pledge (word!!) was brilliant. Toph supposedly getting a courtly education in the fire nation pleases her parents, and in exchange she doesn’t have to go back to being sheltered.

   I can assure you that you will have the fire nation’s support behind your proposal, I agree an exchange of knowledge and skills will be beneficial for everyone. Water bender healers will be in high demand here once our doctors learn of what you can do. Will you be joining in the exchange? There would be a prime apprenticeship in Caldera hospital and a place for you in the fire palace waiting for you.

   Things are ok, it’s stressful being firelord. It’s hard to not just yell at everyone, but I have to set a better example than my father. I'm so glad uncle decided to stay as my adviser rather then retire to his tea shop just yet. At this point I’ll take any advice I can get, proverb or not. Toph’s doing great, you know how she is, she doesn’t talk about the painful stuff. She’s been very useful in vetting the staff and nobles for Ozai supporters. She’s kind of become my unofficial bodyguard. She’s even complained that she wished someone would make an attempt on my life just to spice things up. If I didn’t know her better I’d be scared.    Mai left on a sabbatical a little while ago, said she needed to find out what makes her happy, not just what she doesn’t hate. I know we weren't going to find happiness with each other. Not after everything we’ve both seen. Last time I was truly happy and at peace was at the summer palace with the whole Gaang. I hope she finds happiness wherever it may be.

Early 2nd month, 101 AG Dear Zuko,

   Why didn’t you tell me Mai left sooner? I know you never really forgave yourself for leaving her at the Boiling Rock, but you deserve to be happy too. You deserve someone who loves you and you love in return. I miss the summer palace too, even though we were preparing for a war, I haven't felt so at peace since. I miss our night time sparring matches, letting off steam. And the day to day routine of our little family. There were moments I could have lived in forever.    I mean, I am proud of the work Im doing, rebuilding my tribe is important to me. And being in a position to effect change on the world, to usher in this age of peace is so empowering. Aang wants to start and airbender acolyte program after the World Summit, which is just as important to him. He wants me to join him once the healer exchange program is off the ground. Wants me to become an acolyte and help him “rebuild” the air nomad culture. Maybe I’ll find peace in the air nomad philosophy. I know that it didn’t exactly always work for me in the past, but maybe I’ll understand it better if I study it. I want to be able to be happy at the air temples. The days of endless sun are here, I’m sure I’ll find the idea of Air nomad philosophy more agreeable once I’ve seen the moon in the night sky again. For now, Aang's Air nomad diplomacy is not appropriate for handling midnight sun madness.    I know I won’t get your response before I leave for the World Summit, so I’ll see you then.

Love was just never in the cards for me, I was never the hero of our story destined to get my girl. You’re lucky to have a chance at happiness with Aang. Even if, as we are both painfully aware, Air nomad philosophy isn’t always applicable, as long as you’re happy with him.    And if for some reason you aren't, there will always be a place for you in my country and home.

Chapter notes

Zuko and Katara got really drunk during the World Summit ball and ended up sneaking off together to have a heart to heart. They lamented both feeling like they were supporting character. Katara said she felt like she was just supposed to be apart of Aang’s happily ever after regardless of if it was her happily ever after. They end up admitting to each other that their happiest moments were with each other and share a drunken passionate kiss. 

Afterwards Katara tries to bite the bullet and make herself happy with Aang at the air temple, but she doesn’t last very long because it really isn’t where she’s happy. She ends up leaving Aang, giving him a speech about needing her own happily ever after. 

Zuko and Katara come together for discrete yet passionate love making at the Peace Celebration. They decide to keep their relationship a secret for the time being both to protect Aang's feelings and to avoid court gossip. However, Uncle Iroh figures it out right away, he had a bet with master Pakku since the end of the war when Zuko took the bolt of lightning that the two would end up together.

im literally gonna be listing literally everything i know about seraphs and then hopefully crafting some theories. this is a masterpost so it got LONGG

tl;dr: the Seraph Guardians are actually created by the Eridians as Vault Defenders who use their knowledge of their own species as a way to better defend the Vaults than the biomechanical Guardians who only know Eridian stuff. Like the Flood in Halo. And also could tie into the Guardian Ranks at the end of BL3. but that part is just speculation.

Pyro Pete the Invincible who was apparently brought back to life and turned into a seraph guardian. that’s cool.

starting with hyperius bc he’s the icon:

shade says he’s “gone mad with power... perhaps the alien thingies of this planet have perverted his mind”. unfortunately ‘thingies’ is kinda vague, but we’ll get to that in a secco.

when fighting hyperius he has a few minions, and when u kill them and/or his health gets low enough, he grows to a giant size. which, you know, isn’t normal human behavior. i don’t go outside a lot, but, like, im pretty sure it’s not.

then we got pyro pete and while he doesn’t grow to a huge size (bigger than he was before anyway) he does get a host of new attacks and an elemental type (corrosive)

we got master gee who has a nearly impossible to break shield and a health dome thing that provides fast regen (and he deals more damage the more damage he’s taken)

annnd finally we got voracidous who is p interesting. he’s apparently a ‘stalker the size of a small building’. voracidous is also protected by Chief Ngwatu who doesn’t appear to be a seraph guardian. vora seems to have corrosive abilities which is not normal stalker business afaik.

so we got a lot to deal with here.

so my assumption here in general is that the opening of the Destroyer’s Vault sent out Eridium into the world, and the opening of the Warrior’s Vault sent out Seraph Crystals/energy. I would say energy or something because the vendor does say ‘the blood of the seraphs’ when referencing the crystals. so i imagine their blood crystallizes when they die. 

and what theory does that tie into? this one! booyah! if u dont wanna click away, basically the unbreakable crystals we find/the eridium we find on other planets are the bodies/corpses/essence of something that died. the crystals Tyreen makes in the HBC are human crystals, the eridium that showed up on Pandora are Destroyer crystals (so they have different properties than the others) and the crystals on the other planets like eden-6 and promethea and also different than the eridium on pandora, thus making the eridium on pandora unique to pandora and explaining why its so valuable. it would also make sense because in TPS, you can see Zarpedon as she’s bleeding out after becoming a lost legion eternal, she’s bleeding glowing purple. i wouldn’t be surprised if that eventually crystallizes as well. shame she died on helios, it would’ve been awesome if we went to elpis and found a bunch of crystals in the shape of her body.

anyway moving on.

i also believe the guns/shields/grenades we get from the seraph vendor are not actual seraph weapons, i would not be surprised if he is using the crystals to upgrade the gear and give it the unique properties they have, kinda like e-tech weapons, except better in every conceivable way.

as for who the seraph vendor actually is? i... don’t know. some guy absorbing the seraph crystals? i wouldn’t be surprised. his eyes glow pink, it’s possible it’s a similar affliction to what the lost legion eternal have (except theirs is eridium, and his is seraph crystals). he alludes to the fact he can see the future, he’s constantly watching us, seems to WANT the Vault Hunter to succeed in killing the Seraphs (if only so he can get more crystals, i suppose). that’s mainly the reason i can’t see him as a seraph on his own, because why on pandora would he want us to kill the others? The Wild West Pyro mentioned they could have some type of 'rite of passage’ society, which is possible.

AND originally, if u go back thru my ooooold posts from like 2016/2017 you’ll see i originally assumed the war we were going to be fighting (end of TPS) was going to be the seraphs. that the eridians and the seraphs were enemies and fighting each other but TBH i have completely flipped my view.

while I was talking to The Wild West Pyro on discord and he mentioned this: “If you are turned into a Seraph Guardian, you are a Seraph”

which suddenly flipped a switch in my brain and reminded me of the Flood from Halo. and if that sounds weird, trust me, it is, but lemme explain what i thought:

okay so if you’re not familiar with Halo lore, the flood is basically an alien species that takes over hosts and converts other aliens to be like them. like zombie aliens. that’s like... putting it way simply and im a little rusty on my halo lore, however i do remember this: on occasion, the flood would keep the mind of a host conscious and use its knowledge to attack the other members of the host’s species. (TWWP mentioned that they specifically do this to keyes). that is, it would use the host’s memories and knowledge to gain the upper hand in combat.

so im suggesting that the seraphs are the Eridian’s version of that. because yes, the Eridians have the Vault Guardians and the regular Guardians defending their Vaults, but what about the people who are just straight up stronger than the Guardians and have steamrolled thru the Vault of the Destroyer already? They’d need defenders who were familiar with the combat strategies of the opponents. They’d need human-like defenders on their side. and outside of voracidous, all of the seraph guardians are human(oid?). the release date of the DLCs is Pirate’s Booty, Campaign of Carnage, Big Game Hunt, Assault on Dragon Keep. meaning the humanoid Guardians are all first, anyway. It could stand that the non-human Guardian was either a mistake OR as a last resort (as the only seraph guardians in TTAODK are the dragons and it’s a fantasy world). 

here’s my logic. I think the Vault of the Warrior was meant to be opened first. (I go into depth on that theory here.) if that’s the case, then we were meant to encounter Seraph Guardians long before the Vault of the Destroyer was opened (as we’d have to wait another 200 years, siren fuckery aside). The Warrior was meant to be a superweapon, and whoever opened the Vault had control. I’m a fan of the idea the Warrior was then to go and open the Vault of the Destroyer and kill the Destroyer if it could. The Seraph Guardians may have then been created for 3 reasons

1. A failsafe. if the VotW was opened by someone not on the side of the Eridians (not going to kill the Destroyer) then the Seraph Guardians would go and kill the controller and/or to stop any non-eridians from opening the Vault of the Destroyer.

2. Aid for the Warrior. Maybe they didn’t think the Warrior alone would be enough to kill the Destroyer

3. failsafe #2. Maybe in the event the Warrior was defeated in combat, the Seraph Guardians were created in order to take its place. We know the SG only appear after the Warrior is killed in bl2, however if this is because the Vault was opened or because the Warrior was killed, we dunno for sure.

also, the vendor goes OFF about “true power” all the freakin’ time and how ‘the Seraphs hold many secrets’ etc etc. apparently these crystals are way more valuable than we’re giving them credit for cause this dude is off the wall about them. so while i think this dude KNOWS more than he’s letting on... i don’t think he’s actually a seraph. Could be a side effect from his increased time spent with said crystals. 

More reasons why I now think the Seraphs are actually of Eridian design and not a separate entity: sera guardians in bl1 and tps. Basically: Seraph is a reference to seraphim (a type of angel) and the Guardian hierarchy in bl are a reference to the Christian celestial hierarchy, flipped upside down (so sera is the lowest rank for eridians).  So the regular Sera Guardians are the Eridian Guardians, but then they also have Seraph Guardians which are basically humans (or other species) turned Guardians that use their knowledge of humanity and their fighting style to better protect the Vaults. I mean, also the fact they are titled Guardian. that was probably a big indicator I completely looked over.

Basically, the Eridians knew if the Vault of the Warrior was getting opened that the Vault of the Destroyer was likely to be opened next. So they had a failsafe put in place to keep that from happening. I guess maybe they didn’t predict the Vault of the Destroyer being opened first. OR they realized the Vault of the Warrior would help us find the Vault Map, which is a big no no. And the Seraph Guardians are around to help destroy it. It could also be that the Seraph Crystals are so important that they have their own chosen Guardians to protect them. like we saw how crazy Eridium/slag is, imagine how insane Seraph Crystals could be. Might explain why the Vendor is so wild and apparently knows all this shit he kinda shouldn’t. Could explain why he’s so hell-bent on us getting him the crystals in the first place. I mean, Lilith was pretty much the same way but with Eridium.

We also know the Seraph Relics are Eridian relics, but with unique effects. I don’t think that’s something to scoff at. We have the ‘Blood of the Seraphs’, the ‘Breath of the Seraphs’, the ‘Might of the Seraphs’, and the ‘Shadow of the Seraphs’. 

My personal favorite, because of the line ‘Their return is to be feared...’. And what does this relic do? Grants bonus damage and health regen (after gaining second wind, which might be a gameplay thing). 

“Their power courses through you...” - increased health and health regeneration

‘Become the unstoppable force!’ - increased melee damage and override cooldown

‘A shadow is a copy of self, only shadier’ - extra shot change (basically Tw0 Fang)

Unlike the other gear we get, these seem directly tied to Seraph lore. I always assumed ‘Their return is to be feared’ was to mean there is a war coming and the seraphs are on their way, but now? now i honestly believe the only thing they feared was the fact they HAD to return. Instead of being afraid of the Seraphs themselves, be afraid of whatever they’re coming back for. 

We also get lines like ‘Their power courses through you...’ (blood) and ‘Become the unstoppable force!’ (might) Which tbh i don’t really think if the Eridians were at war with the Seraphs, I can’t imagine them having relics with their names on top, with taglines like that. it seems too honorary, too kind i guess.

If you’re at war with someone, you don’t call them unstoppable to your own forces, you don’t make it seem cool that you’re using their power instead of your own. and the shadow of the seraphs thing, yeah i don’t know about that. i will say calling the shadow of the seraphs ‘shadier’ is probably a good thing, since y’know, if i was at war with someone, no one else could be shadier. so, again, probably not indicative of bloodlust between the two. like, if ur at war with someone, and u have access to their tech, then you’re going to take that tech and you’re going to rebrand it. you’re going to make it look like your own and you’re not going to have their name right at the top. Especially not when it’s calling them ‘Mighty’.

There’s also some other bits and pieces of knowledge surrounding Seraphs that make me think they’re related to the Eridians. For one, they’re big boys. voracidous is a stalker the size of a building. Hyperius becomes HUGE during his fight. pete and gee aren’t anything to scoff at either. What do we know slag testing does to certain individuals? makes them big big big boys. like bloodwing, or super badass [elemental] skags. Additionally, voracidous gets corrosive attacks, which isn’t a normal stalker thing, and iirc pete also gets a corrosive phase once he’s become a Seraph Guardian. And we know slag testing was able to give certain individuals elemental superpowers. 

In fact, let me draw your attention to Terry. Terramorphous has an eridian relic drop, called the Blood of Terramorphous. Terry lives in a Eridian ruins (that possibly were a Vault at one point) and I would bet that’s the reason he’s so big. I digress. The relic is legendary, not seraph. My personal theory is that when Hammerlock got his hands on the threshers from the moon (you know cuz they’re native to elpis, which was apparently a huge Eridian base... still not convinced eleseer is truly inside elpis without some wacky interdimensional space magic/tech) terry ended up (somehow) in the eridian ruins you find him in and he becomes the ‘defender’ of said ruins. Thus, he’s on the Eridian’s side by protecting their things. you can read the poem his drops make here: “His teeth made them flee in shame, His breath was of fire. His hide turned the mightiest tame; His blood could inspire.” So, similar to the Seraph Guardians, Terry, impromptu guardian of the ruins, gets a relic named after him: “Blood of Terramorphous” and the tagline is “his blood could inspire”. and I know that TPS happens long after the Eridians are gone (apparently), but it’s still an interesting comparison, because the Seraph Guardians we fight also appear after the Eridians are long gone. And similarly to the Seraph Guardians, Terry is pretty fuckin big and, unlike the other huge threshers we’ve seen in BL2, he’s considered a raid boss (just like the Seraph Guardians). He’s also able to charge himself with fire (like Pyre threshers), which I imagine is a direct result of his time spent in the Vault, cause, unlike Pyre threshers, he can choose when he’s on fire. And I imagine Pyre Threshers, like Super Badass [elemental] skags, are more than likely a result of slag testing or slag/eridium exposure.

I talk about that a lot more here, if you’re interested, including about how eridian ruins might be powering up since the opening of the Vault of the Destroyer (going from white to purple) which could explain the mass mutation of bandits across Pandora.

Actually, now that i think about it... maybe that’s where all this mayhem is coming from......

but i guess that’s a theory for another time cause holy HELL this got long.

Anyway, wouldn’t it be neat if the Guardian Ranks we get at the end of BL3 helped us tie in the loose ends the Seraphs gave us at the end of the BL2? We become Seraph Guardians as we’re chosen by the Eridians to protect the Vaults. Could help explain the bonuses lore-wise. Altho i think getting bigger every time u take a rank might cause some problems later on.

     One Piece has hundreds of characters, and over the past year I’ve celebrated the birthdays of only about a few hundred or so of them. So I’d like to take the time to mention every One Piece character without a birthday. Some don’t have birthdays because they’ve debuted too recently, some have no birthdays because they have been forgotten. However, a couple of them are so obscure that they don’t even have their own pages, in which case you will only be able to fine them here.

  Next we will honor all non-canon characters. These characters appeared in filler, movies, specials, OVAs, one-shots, video games, or any other material that was officially made but not part of the manga. These characters are gaurunteed to never get a birthday, and that is a curse they bear. Now some non-canon characters, such as Gion and Tokikake, debut in non-canon and then later appear in canon, making them canon characters, and thus giving them a chance to have a birthday. However, this is such a rare case, that I wouldn’t count on it, especially for non-canon characters that debuted years ago.

    Lastly, I want to honor all characters, canon and non-canon, with no names. The majority of these characters are just extras that only appeared in one panel or shot. But there’s a couple that are actually memorable, such as that one guy that was in Spandine’s group, or the masked CP-0 members. Some of these people can actually get names eventually. For example, Don Quixote Mjosgard was a nameless character for the longest time, until in the Reverie he became important and was given a name. I cannot list these nameless characters, as they have no names, but I do still want to honor them, and hope that one day they will be given names and have birthdays.

An Interview with Mark Gatiss

October 12, 2015

Mark Gatiss is a man who has made a career of developing his childhood passions: Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, comedy, classic literature, Gatiss has done them all. With work as a screenwriter, actor, novelist and showrunner under his belt, Gatiss's illustrious career has been varied, but one thing has remained steadfast throughout his working life; his love of the dark and unsettling.

At a fundraiser for Darlington Police Memorial Fund on Ocotober 3rd 2015, Gatiss told of how Sherlock has changed his life, how he'd warmly welcome a female Doctor, his lifelong goal to play Jacob Marley and the mysterious gifts he has received from fans. After the event, Gatiss was kind enough to sit down with Shadows at the Door to discuss M.R. James and all things horror. SATD: You did a lot to raise the profile of M.R. James with new audiences with your adaptation of The Tractate Middoth and the accompanying documentary. Do you feel James is as recognised as much as other contemporaries such as Lovecraft? MG: He's the master(!), he's absolutely preeminent and rightly regarded as so. And well, you know the only problem I found with that is when I did Crooked House. They (the BBC) asked me to do an M.R. James and I said that I'd just like to do some new ones, because in a way, he becomes the default. It's a bit like whenever they list the greatest films ever made, it's so often Citizen Kane and people get a bit bored it it. James is clearly the best that's ever been, and people sometimes think 'Oh is he? Yes he is actually!'. But in fact what you want to do is kind of mix it up a bit, and that's all I wanted to do. Tractate came about because they asked me to do the documentary, and I said I'd love to but I'm too busy. But they kept asking and I just thought I'd chance my arm and said I'd do it one condition: let me write and direct a new adaptation and they said yes! Only trouble is that I'd love to do it every year and they haven't asked! And yes, James is incredible but i'd love there to be a broader field for others, such as Sheridan Le Fanu and all those that came after him. He was the best but it would be nice to mix it up a bit and if there were more of them it would be easier-- we could do with an anthology series, really. SATD: Yeah, the Ghost Story for Christmas series is quite sporadic at best, each year we look for it in the listings and it's never there. Is it quite a fight to get the BBC to do another one? MG: Yes it is. I would do one very year until I dropped dead. In fact, I want to do Count Magnus.I'd love to do some more, it's a tough sell because it's a short format and in the 70s it was so easy. The documentary was made via BBC Arts and it was like making one in the 70s, I was left on my own. But essentially, what I'd have to do to make that work is replicate it: do a documentary on someone along with an adaptation, and I can't do James again. But Funnily enough-- no wait, I won't say that because I'll jinx it(!) but it could work again. But it's difficult, it's all about money and ratings and it's a difficult slot whereas if you could make four or five of them together you could make a little series of them but that's expensive. SATD: Do you think that's something that could realistically happen? MG: Maybe. It's just increasingly difficult.

SATD: You're a fan of H.G. Wells too, is that someone whose work you'd try to push with the BBC?

MG:  Yeah but I tell you what, rejoice! Because the great Graham Duff has just done a serise of four Wells adaptations for Sky, I've seen them and they're fantastic! He's done The Purple Pileus-- the one about mushrooms-- and The Moth. But the particularly brilliant one stars Micheal Gambon, the name escapes me (Mark cries in frustration), but its just brilliant! It's about a dying old man who's looking an heir because he has n children, it's very sinister and it's fantastic. THey're all directed by Adrian Shergold and they so much capture the spirit of mid-70s horror, they're just really well done so look forward to that. SATD: Sounds fantastic! So moving onto Doctor Who, a lot of your episodes in particular have elements of horror to them. Is this something to comes to you naturally or is it just owed more to Doctor Who's gothic origins?

MG: Well horror is my bent, and to me Doctor Who has always been frightening. My principle memories of a child are being scared by it, it's in the DNA of Doctor Who. But obviously it depends on the story, The Crimson Horror for example is a northern gothic love letter and others are more traditional scares. A Martian in a Russian submarine for example, you just can't do that in any other show, I've yet to see it in Midsummer...

SATD: Speaking of The Crimson Horror, I've got to ask: were there elements of Hillary Briss (Gatiss's demented butcher character from The League of Gentlemen), in the character of the the undertaker?

MG: Oh yeah! He licked his lips a lot, didn't he? I tell who I really wanted for that part, Graham Fellows who plays John Shuttleworth. I really tried to get him but it didn't work out, I think we would have been perfect for that. What does he say? (Mark adopts a thick Yorkshire accent) 'White as the top of Buckton Pike!" (laughs). SATD: In other interviews you've said that you're fatigued by the sheer quantity of modern horror films.

MG: That's true! I was just thinking about this the other day: the absolute constant for me is ghosts, but other things can wax and wane. Personally, I think its now all a bit over saturated. Its a bit like super hero movies, theres too many and you start to get weary. Weirdly, its sort of like the old Chinese curse, be careful what you wish for. There are so many shows now, that are just hyper-gothic, steampunk-y, and Im just a bit saturated.

Therefore, like food or wine your tastes change and your palette changes so now I've gone in a slightly different direction. I used to think nothing could exist without waistcoats and bubbling test tubes and now Im actually more interested in modern horror; the gothic but in a modern context. I dont think it has to be about the old and obviously I still love it but it doesnt have to be about candelabra and castles. You can get the same feeling from modern methods, and in a way that is more frightening. The story which by consensus is the most successful in Crooked House, is the one which is in Barratt home because its like; 'Oh this is horrible because it might actually happen!'.

SATD: So have there been any recent films that have pleasantly surprised you?

MG: Well the problem is, and I was just talking to Simon Pegg about this, its like an addict always searching for their first hit. And whenever someone says; 'Oh my god have you seen x?' like The Babadook, which I really enjoyed, but I found it was much more interesting when it was a very harrowing story about that women going mad. The gothic touches left me cold, and I wondered why they were suddenly doing Poltergeist? Thats not what this story is about, the idea of a woman losing her mind because her child is unstable was really scary but in a different kind of way. (sigh) I suppose Im always just waiting for The Thing, really.

SATD: You have a part in the new Victor Frankenstein movie; does that feel surreal now that you're in a horror movie?

MG: All I can think of is; whats taken so long? But yeah, it was a delight. I only have a small part, and it only took a few days. Paul McGuigan, the chief Sherlock director asked me to do it and it was, you know, a really fucking huge Frankenstein laboratory! And I get to pull the lever and everything! There was a bit when I was going up an iron lift with Freddie Fox and it was all outdoors and raining I mean absolutely lashing with freezing cold rain and I said to Freddie; 'This isnt like being in Frankenstein, this is Frankenstein!' (laughs). And it doesnt get any better than that!

SATD: Do you get to ham it up then?

MG: Well, wait and see! (laughs)

SATD: Well, Mark thank you very much!

MG: Not at all, its been an absolute pleasure.
