Im sorry, I lied, we aren't watching Netflix tonight. Let me tell you my ideas for an Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi rewrite
Lemme start with wasted character potential #1, mother herself, Karen.
The reason
It is not common at all in fantasy books for parents to participate in their children's adventures. For obvious reasons, really: parents would not allow their kids to be put in any danger, thus it is easier for them to not appear in the story at all, or even be the thing that the kids are chasing after in the first place.
That last one is exactly what happens in book 1, Karen is kidnapped and the kids need to save her. But unlike other stories, where "saving mom" is the end goal, Emily and Navin end up saving Karen in book 2 out of 9. And not only that, Karen insists on staying with her children in Alleida until they finish what they started.
Let me explain why this is so important, aside from the general subversion of the genere: Amulet, at its core, is a tale of grief. A family rattled by the tragic and horrific death of a father. The three of them are broken, in many different ways, but they insist on staying together no matter what.
If the topic was tackled properly, this could have been a story that explored all the different facets of grief and how a family tries to overcome its hurt. How you can rebuild yourself up from what may appear as the bottom of a well if you reach out for those who love you for support. How you don't need to suffer alone.
With Karen, this could have been especially interesting. If Kazu hadn't based his story on the idea of "kids parenting their parents", an interesting point could've been made. After all, Karen shouldn't rely on her kids to provide her emotional support at such a young age. She could, however, learn to open up about her pain to make them understand that they are not alone, while she also makes her own connections to the world around her.
So. How exactly would I do that?
Focus a little bit on Karen's past. Make her have a personality and purpose outside of "Mom"
Give Karen her own storyline and character arc paralel yet separate from her kids
Focus on Karen's own grief and loss, how she has carried the burden of her guilt for so many years, yet put on a front of strength for the sake of her kids.
The Idea
Just as Emily is "The Stonekeeper" and Navin is "The Recistence's Leader", Karen should also have a role. Personally, I decided to give her that of "The Messenger".
Karen, in the books, has been characterized in a way I can only describe as stereotypically "motherly": she's caring, understanding, and tries to offer support whenever she can. She might not be very open in the begining, but once she talks with a character a bit more she has been shown to become more trusting. These ideas are not expanded upon any more, so we dob't really get much information about her character aside from that.
I, personally, chose to take that idea and reshape it into Karen being the more "friendly/comunicative" of the group. Although yes, Navin is shown to be more charismatic, there is something to be said about friendship that is formed due to a building up of trust over time.
As a result, I have come up with the following concept:
Karens journey is one in which she learns to rely on other friends for help, that she doesn't need to carry her burdens and face the world on her own while putting on a mask for her children.
On the other hand, Karen also learns that her children are growing up, and they will need to know that they are not alone either. It is her job as their mother to teach this to them.
And in my opinion, the best way this could be potrayed was if Karen started writing to those she met on this journey. Sharing their experiences with those they left behind, communicating the situation in far away nations to others. Being the conection between locations.
And so, in the end, when the battle is about to start, she writes one last message to those old friends, asking for support in the conflict, thinking that she will recieve no answer. Only to be then met the following evening with entire towns worth of troops waiting to help.
Because Karen may not have powerful magic. Or the knowledge to pilot entire ships. But she does have the written word and the ability of forming conections. And that power, sometimes, is as strong as an entire army.

So I've been thinking about how the "iron hurts them" rules of ghosts actually works. Like we know that solid iron is very painful for them (yes yes despite Edwin's seemingly indifferent expression to it we still know it stings pretty bad by Charles' reactions) but I've been wondering, since iron is like a commonly occuring element in varying amounts and forms, just HOW much iron do they have to be exposed to for it to hurt? Would say the amount of iron in food hurt them? Like would eating a dark chocolate bar or a leaf of spinach hurt them? Would it hurt to the same degree of pain as a solid iron cane or would it be a smaller but still there pain? Like would it be similar to the same difference between my walnut and cashew allergic reactions, how the amount matters for the walnuts but cashews it's an intense reaction no matter the amount I was exposed to? If they react to the amount of iron in edible things, would it burn like a physical hot pain or would it burn like an allergic reaction on the tongue? Also still on the allergic reaction analogy, Since they supposedly can breathe (due to the actor's need to breathe) their air passageways and lungs must work at least in some capacity and does this mean they could theoretically have an anaphylactic reaction still? Would they still allergically react to things that would cause allergic reactions in life? Or would iron cause this new ghostly allergic reaction if ingested? Also would the iron in other people's blood cause it to hurt if they came in contact with their blood? Like say, Crystal gets a cut on her hand and touches one of their arms would that hurt them? Does different states of iron matter to how painful it is too? Like iron in liquid forms like blood differ from it in solids like iron bars and foods? I'm so curious to all the inner workings of their inability to touch iron

Holy shit you’re genius about that crossover.
Pls share thoughts 👀👀
Well, I'd be happy to, anon!! (I'm going to politely assume this is about the KFP x Rise au since that's the only crossover I've posted about iirc) I'm currently doing tremendous amounts of research into the Kung Fu Panda lore (/hj) Also, this is going to seem so unorganized 'cause I'm just throwing out anything that comes to mind <3 (I'm sorry this is so long!!)
You know those jokes about how if Spider-Man and Batman switched villains, they'd obliterate them? It'd be like that.
I think, maybe, Leo and Po would switch universes, similarly to how the TMNT show crossovers work! I mean, wouldn't it make sense for the Greatest Ninja in the World and the Dragon Warrior to be the ones to switch?
Leo would probably try to open a portal to to Run of the Mill or somewhere in Hidden City, just somewhere that would make sense for him, and he'd accidentally open a portal to the Valley of Peace, and he'd accidentally open a second portal under/around Po and they'd do that big ol' switcheroo!
Opening a portal between universes probably takes a crazy amount of mystic energy, so, while Po is conscious and living it up in New York, Leo is in, essentially, a mini coma for a day or two. He'd probably lose his katanas, or they'd be stolen, but either way he doesn't have them anymore.
I think the Mad Dogs would LOVE having Po around, honestly. He's everything they could've dreamed of in a big brother. He's super in tune with his emotions, he loves physical affection, his jokes are actually funny, and this man knows how to EAT. They want their brother back, of course, but hey, Po is such a great leader and Donnie does need to take breaks from all the science stuff, and it's not like any of them can open cool mystic portals, no sir!
The Furious Five would probably be rather welcoming of Leo, they'd wanna take care of him and help him get home. But Leo being Leo wouldn't trust a single one of them. He'd wake up and immediately try throwing hands with them. He would get his ass kicked. The Five would think it was hilarious that they managed to kick his ass until they learn that Mr. Hamato is sixteen and is just Like That™️
The mix between jujitsu and kung fu would be COOL AS FUCK, and Po/Leo are having a lot of fun teaching their respective fighting styles.
Leo would probably fake trust The Five, letting them think he's not losing his shit every time they talk to him. He probably wouldn't trust anyone fully until he meets Shifu, who, honestly, is pretty similar to Splinter in his eyes. They'd have to sit down, alone, and drink tea while Shifu explains their universe and who they are.
Back in New York, Po has full trust in all three of these weird teenage turtles, their "human" friends, and their rodent and sheep fathers, and he'd tell them all about the Valley of Peace and how he became the Dragon Warrior and just how much they would LOVE Shifu. Donnie, in turn, would tell him about their universe and explain everything he asked about.
Leo would love being in the Valley of Peace, it's almost perfectly his happy place in his mind. After he opens up a bit, the Five starts helping him train (so he "doesn't get rusty when [he gets] back home") and help him find his katanas and get his mystic mojo back.
Po and the Mad Dogs are LOSING THEIR SHIT, DAILY, because of all the crazy awesome martial arts they're doing together.
To sum up pretty much everything I just said, Leo does some dumbass portal shit, which leads to Po and the Mad Dogs having the time of their fucking lives, and Leo and the Furious Five have the angsty teenager experience.

speaking of games, brians a fan! he tends to enjoy highly competitive games that gets your blood pumping, he cant play calmer games cause they turn his brain off and it ends up with him just... passing out. he likes fighting games that focus on learning combos and highly advanced techniques. he isn't necessarily the best by any means, he doesn't have the energy to put in that kind of effort into it, but he likes playing against random people in arcades or through online services
he's also a huge nerd for anime. he likes the classics of shounen anime, but dabbles in other genres as well (c//owboy bebop, bleach, i//nu y//asha, etc). he's aware his taste is rather... generic? but honestly who cares. he tends to like anything you put in front of him!
ALSO COMICS. HE LOOOOOVES COMICS he has a small but growing collection of comics based around all sorts of genres. though the most prevalent one is action with super heroes. he doesn't stay updated on them much, so he tends to miss certain releases, but he LOVES comics so MUCH. theyre easier for him to engage with without passing out as they take up more power in his brain. even the less dramatic ones! plus, there's less penalty for falling asleep while reading a comic book. what's it gonna do? turn the pages on its own?
... he's dabbled in doing fandom things, such as character discussion or fanart, but he's never been very confident in it so, he's usually just a lurker. he's always out of the loop on things anyway. which does come with a price, as he once got spoiled that his fave comic character was gonna die in a recently released issues and he needed a day to recover
