Okay so what I was trying to explain on my blog was I noticed an instance of racism that doesn't get talked about often in black spaces , I noticed "anti racist" white ppl are only interested in ending racism or cancelling racism when it suits them or when it isn't inconvenient for them like for example: cancelling racist brands if they don't make products that they enjoy, not cancelling racists that happen to be very attractive and only cancelling racists if they dont make content they enjoy hence why the racist singer Camilla Cabello is being cancelled for being racist(she doesn't make good music) while Lana del ray gets idolised and supported(she makes good music) but in this case im talking about tim Burton who takes part in making good famous spooky movies. He makes scary content and his works either have non-humans,white/light skins,white passing(for his dead characters) but no poc and when asked for rep by his black fans he replied with "black ppl do not fit his style/aesthetic" and yeah at the time it happened he was faced with backlash but the backlash was stopped and he wasn't cancelled because of his several non black fans who defended him by saying "maybe he means that black ppl cant fit his aesthetic because they aren't pale hence it wont look spooky " , "4c hair would look goofy in a spooky movie and wouldn't look spooky/creepy as straight hair(I believe its cuz most ghosts in media have long straight hair)" and some of his fans being very obviously racist without even sugarcoating or sounding nice about it by saying "there musn't be representation in every single media"

People aren't usually willing to give up their faves, yes. It's a common occurrence; it's why there's such a defensiveness about confronting racism, in this case in fandom. Acknowledging that your fave media or creator is racist means acknowledging that you might have to... stop liking them, or at least put effort into recognizing when things are an issue. And people don't want to "be a racist", but they also.... Enjoy the content. They don't want to think about it critically. So by denying the truth, they can continue to enjoy it without moral stress. Tis a choice!

Summary: It's not the first time you've plummeted into another timeline. It is the first time in years that you've met a Deadpool still doing the anti-hero (vigilante?) thing. And unfortunately for you, you're stuck with him.

A/N: I promise I'm working on stuff, work just has had me super busy the last few weeks (months if I'm being more honest) and school is coming up soon for me :(. Anyways. I wanna lick Logans abs. This is hopefully gonna be a slow burn ;)

It’s jarring. Every single time it happens is so jarring. It’s almost like getting whiplashed with how hard you are pulled backwards and then your stomach drops; it feels as though you’re falling. The same sensation you get right before you fall asleep, like your body can’t tell if you’re still alive.  

You’ve never been thrown so forcefully out of it. Usually you land, stumbling on your feet. This time, though, you’re thrown onto your back. Your skull cracks against the pavement underneath you and it feels like all the air has been forced out of your body.  

“Fuuuuck,” it feels pushed out of your body, your chest heaving in short gasps. Rolling onto your side, all you can see in front of you is the street. Whatever Earth you’ve landed on, it doesn’t seem like it’s good.  

There’s blood splattered everywhere, cars and buses are on their sides or flipped over. Glass is scattered on the streets. Maybe you just arrived right after the battle of New York, maybe this world has been abandoned.  

You struggle to your feet, stumbling and catching yourself before standing fully upright. You can feel the warmth of some blood on your back before the skin reconnects, leaving behind the burn of cement rash.  

Behind you, there’s panting. It’s heavy and sounds almost wet. Turning, you look at two men who were behind you. 

“Oh, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me,”  

... 

You tried walking away. Removing yourself from the situation like the adult you were, but no. It wasn’t working. You never got more than a few feet away from the two before being teleported back within their range.  

The two men, Deadpool and the poor Wolverine stuck with him, just watched for some time. Deadpool was oddly quiet through most of it, although you can almost hear the monologue in his thoughts, his head following as you walked in different directions before snapping to where you appeared. Dogpool, the ugly thing, sat in the arms of its alternate person just panting heavily. It never stopped panting.  

You huff angrily, throwing your back against the wall right next to Wade. Crossing your arms, you look down at Mary Puppins sitting in his arms. She went cross eyed while looking up at you, staring blankly at the wall next to you and yourself.  

“Who shit in your biscuit this morning?” Wade asks you, head tilting slightly. You have to brace yourself and breathe deeply to make sure you don’t roll your eyes. You never realized how thankful you were that your home Earths Deadpool ended up in the void before you even knew what abilities you had.  

Glancing down at him with just your eyes, you find that he still hasn’t looked away. “Whoever the hell sent me here, that’s who,” you respond. There’s pain in your voice, you can hear up, but also the utter annoyance that most Deadpool's just bring. “Didn’t know the Wolverine on this world was still alive,” you nod your head towards Logan like you’re gesturing to him.  

It’s quiet. You’ve somehow silenced Wade Wilson, the merc with a mouth. You watch his chest expand in a deep inhale and it caves back in as he exhales deeply.  

“He isn’t,” and your brows furrow. Other than the TVA, you don’t know any other casual dimension jumper. Even they were a stretch, you know, they didn’t deserve to be able to do that.  Somehow, they were able to master it. You think he can see the confusion on your face as your eyes flit back and forth between them. Logan’s still eating whatever it is he had in his hand. “The TVA,” he takes a breath, and you have to interrupt. 

“Why did they bring him here?” You shake your head, brows furrowing further.  

Wade shifts his head side to side. “They didn’t bring him here, sunshine,” his voice perks up. “I did,” and he has the widest smile on his face that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.  

“I don’t,” you pause and rub your face, looking down at the ground. “I don’t even wanna know why or how,”  

“’Cause I'm Marvel Jesus,” is his quick quip back. He stands suddenly, his back popping and cracking as he stretches himself. “Alrighty, Peanut, let’s get going home,” he says to Logan (maybe it was to Mary Puppins, you’ve got no idea), and there’s a little pep in his step. “C’mon puppy!” Wade calls and you get yanked again and appear just a few feet ahead of him.  

With a roll of his eyes, Logan stands and tosses his food off to the side. “I’m going to go figure things out on my own,” he says. Turning away, you watch as Logan walks off from the two of you and you hope to whatever being is out there that you get pulled along with him, but he isn’t able to make it more than a few steps before Wade starts talking again. 

“Oh no you don’t! I’ve waited far too long for this meetup!” Wade calls out, and you see Logan stop in his tracks. His shoulders slump, almost like he’s struggling with a decision he’s about to make. “Blind Al isn’t all she’s cocained up to be, we need a third in our little house of horrors,” he snickers a little. 

You’re really hoping it doesn’t last forever, but when you finally make the trek to Wades apartment that feeling almost vanishes (almost). It’s homey, although the apartment itself is small and cramped with two people already there. You’ve met a few Als before, but only a small number of them weren’t blind. 

It was only in passing though. You could recognize that woman anywhere. Her eyes were always a striking feature, and the few who weren’t blind always carried this sort of knowledge within them as they followed you when you walked by them.  

This Al seemed sweet, although listening to Wade tell you about her was a little odd. You couldn’t fully tell if he was joking about her being able to see cocaine, but there’s been worse you’ve interacted with.  

Speaking of worse, Logan would not let you out of his sight at all thus far. You could feel his eyes boring down on your back the entire walk to the apartment, and even when you got inside and completely ignored everything Wade was saying (a lot of it was just telling you and Logan about the apartment and what to not touch, oddly enough) he would not let you leave his sight.  

Even just checking out what type of T.V this world had to offer left you with his stare. You begin to browse their small selection of DVD’s when you finally speak up. 

“Might wanna take a picture,” it was quiet, but you knew he could hear you. “It’ll last you longer,” but there was no response. Usually, it was the Bucky Barnes of the Earth that had the staring problem, it had never been the Wolverines.  

They always made their problems with you obvious. They’d never pulled this type of behavior, and it was strange. For the first time in years, you had someone act strange and you couldn’t figure out how to go about confronting it.  

“Who’re you?” Logan finally spoke up, quieting Wade in the middle of his rant.  

You swallow thickly. “I’m not the person you think I am,” and you cringe internally. It always sounded dumb when you said it, but you never knew what else to say. Who knows if there’s another you in this world, or maybe even Logans. “Whoever I am, or was, to you? That’s not who I am,” but you’d never met another one of you.  

There’s the thud of glass on wood, it's thick and there’s no way that it isn’t a beer bottle.  “I’ve never met you in my life. Have you?” Assuming he was talking to Wade, you turn as best as you can while still crouched in front of the TV to look at him.  

He’s shrugging, opening his mouth for a response before Logan beats him to it. “What the hell is it that you can do, anyways? Are you a mutant? Or just another fucked up creation by a government?” You bark a laugh.  

“I’m just one of God’s fucked up mistakes, that’s what,” and you look down with a sigh, shaking your head. “I really don’t know. My world didn’t have mutants, not like others do. It was always some botched work done by doctors in basements,” Wade looks appalled.  

His eyes find some spot on the wall, and he smiles at it. “It’s like looking into a mirror. Although a lot less ballsackey and not as interesting,” you have to shake your head.  

Logan clears his throat. “What do you mean, your world didn’t have mutants,” you smile at him.  

“My timeline doesn’t exist anymore,”

ok. i put this review off for a couple days cause i knew this was gonna be harder to write because i love lynn painter books, really. buuttt i was horribly disappointed with this one. i'm the biggest wesliz fan but... like yeah i cant even form coherent thoughts about it. like this was unnecessary there was no point in shattering their relationship to write this.

like it was good to see wes's pov and everything but it felt so... idk yeah. (see im still struggling so bad to find words.)

one thing i would formally like to invite lynn to STOP doing though is shoving every taylor/ pop culture reference on the planet into the book. like holy shit woman. i few is okay BUT NOT THAT MANY COME ON!!!! they were in the middle of a fucking argument and wes is quoting illicit affairs or some bullshit. usually i love finding little references on page but this felt like too much.

i feel like she's whipped out her computer and gone straight to some dog fanpage or just plainly scrolled through edits seeing people saying "this song is so wesliz coded" and shoved those songs into the book. there is an on page reference to in between reference saying its their montage song.

also um this shit: ”little liz can’t come to the phone right now. why? oh. because she’s dead.” and somehow when jack antonoff was randomly brought up??? like some people are good at weaving taylor swift lyrics into books. lynn you are not.

also lynn take this a plea to never use the word "growl" or "growled" in a sentence ever again when describing your male characters. and to never write this sentence “she’s one of the guys you know? she’s just… different,” EVER AGAIN. PLEASE.

liz - ok so weirdly enough she was the most tolerable and still intolerable at the same time. like she was so different from the liz in bttm the sunshiney, wearing dresses of all different colours and her love of romcoms. she was described as anti-love and was practically a full on different character seriously. if you liked the first book maybe dont have high expectations for nltm. like i do understand she had her heart broken and so obviously that makes sense for some of the change but it had been two years and as liz likes to say SO FUCKING MUCH "she's moved on, she's moved past it, its in the past" well for someone who's moved on you sure like to avoid the past a lot. also idk who tf she was trying to fool with that whole "i don't like wes, im over him." shit like gurl- you were literally kissing 2.5 seconds ago whats with the switching sides. and there was SO much about her leaving "little liz" behind. like what was so wrong with liking flowers and romcoms? and being a hopeless romantic and wearing bright colours?

wes - okay so it was quiet heartbreaking to hear abt wes's side of this book (except for the whole pursuing liz part) and i did feel sorry for him. but like what happened to the sweet, caring wes in the first book. and tell me why i had to read THIS sentence “climb on me like a good girl,” LIKE MY EYES LYNN WTF????? i did not sign up for this wes, like no stop telling me how obsessed you are with liz's lips or how she's a mythological sex goddess- boy sit ur ass down. and don't even get me started on the beginning of the book. WHAT WAS THAT SHIT? why was wes acting like a 7yr old excited for school and talking (so much) abt his love for scootering? SCOOTERING. LYNN PAINTER WHAT THE EVER LOVING HELL? SCOOTERING. DO YOU HAVE SOME OBSESSION WITH THEM OR SOMETHING? WHY DID THOSE DUMB THINGS KEEP SHOWING UP?? like tell me why i needed to read this shit: "i fucking loved the scooters ..... wes + scooters = HEA" ..... lynn.

have you heard kuro dubbed in any language other than english? or in any other asian language other than korean or chinese? well i found a persian one and it's so fucking bad that it's hilarious.

(also stay tuned to find out why the persian dub of kuroshitsuji being so bad has directly to do with anti-shipping sentiment and puritanism)

i would like to politely invite anyone who's ethnically from/lives in/speaks the language of a country with an ultraconservative government to contribute to this post if they know a dub of kuro (fandub or licenced by a company) in their language to contribute to this post (agree or disagree that policing media causes a drop in its quality and accessibility in other countries) but let's keep it civil. if you are not from a country like this but have something to say, feel free to add anything on, the conversation is open to all :)

so i just heard the homemade persian dub of kuro's first ep made by some young people who sound like they're in uni (probs 18-23 yr olds), tears have been flowing from my eyes for the past 20 mins

but first, the funny stuff

ciel's voice is awful but just listen to the goofy dub laugh seb's va did at the start I'M FUCKING SOBBING (00:15-00:35), and also not ciel's va MOANING after the op song (2:35) ??? i REPEAT the woman who VA'd ciel was fucking MOANING, the YAWN was the worst part, dub team shotacons???

also SHEEL FANTOMHAYO?? THE KID'S NAME WAS DUBBED AS SHEEL FANTOMHAYO. (refer to 6:30 in the video linked)

now this isn't because we lack a 's' in our language (my alias is literally a persian name meaning shadow aka ✦sayé✦), we've just transliterated it as shiyel, but SHEEL???

the other guy calls him fantomhayo too (8:25) and the fantomhayo condition strikes again with sebastian's va talking about the fantomhayo hospitality at 12:40 ish in the video.

this is particularly bizarre because we do have a V in persian, please guys, use it!

please note: i have nothing but good things to say about finny's va... the way the va says "sebaastiyaan!" (12:43) is so cute <3

at 13:00, we get this golden crumb "meyrin... oh meyrin" from this college aged dude doing sebastian (who is SO lost) then he proceeded to say in persian "i beg you, ON MY LIFE, just pour the fucking wine in the glass and walk away" save me from the bad dub, ono daisuke, save me...

the furnace scene is just gold (18:50 onward is comical, the scream at the end... priceless), these people deserve an award, im tempted to do subs on this whole video because the translation is so wrong yet absolutely too hilarious to leave untranslated. also, i like how you can hear other people talking in the background constantly, they didn't even bother finding a quiet room 😭😭

finally i translated some of the best comments under the vid (everyone fuckin hated it 😭)

..tldr: irani/persian speaking netizens are brutal. but also, it shows that persian speakers are used to quality dubbing, otherwise this wouldn't be so offensive. if we were used to badly done dubs, the comments wouldn't look like this. many famous kdramas and jdramas and indian/turkish films have been dubbed. animated movies e.g. disney films and most commonly 70-80s anime have huge followings in iran and were dubbed extraordinarily well. in fact, in iran, many of our own films are dubbed especially if the original footage did not capture the audio well enough/the director was unhappy with the actor's delivery and it's usually hard to tell if this has happened because it's done very well. shockingly, dub is more popular than sub. so why does kuro not have an official dub? why is the fandub so bad???

*IMPORTANT: an anime like this is not allowed to be legally dubbed by studios in iran because iran is under an islamic theocracy (the islamic republic) and all media that promotes devil worshipping and blasphemy is banned, homosexuality is too (anyone can tell kuro has homoerotic undertones, the homophobic heads of media would never let this queer gothic romance through). oh and trans people are "allowed" on TV but only if they're not vulgar/explicit (not even then, half the time) & grelle would not make it into the anime AT ALL. even if we ignore all the devil worshipping and queerness, sex is banned too (as well as lewd appearances of women), so season 1/2 & boc would never make it. oh and alcohol, bom would never make it. oh and also, women's empowerment is banned too so boa would never make it. when will it end? will someday everything be banned? sure looks like it. but isn't this what anti shippers want? i mean kuro IS problematic media, it never condemns people for having sex or partaking in drinks, not even murder is condemned.

moving on, the subtitled version of the episodes are very well done for what they are but it's still not good, you won't understand what's going on properly. meanings are lost. a dub is much more accessible to those who can't read subs and generally a necessary option. people NEED dubs. don't get me wrong, the iranian fansub team are dedicated however subs are much easier for fans to do than dubbing. as you heard, kuro's persian fandub was frankly terrible. these kids didn't even know how to pronounce ciel's name and it's NOT because of the language barrier, my theory is that because the internet access is so limited, they had to figure out how to pronounce ciel's name purely from the japanese original or another lang dub and had no access to the eng dub. as you can see, they are not able to follow the mouth movements either (don't have editing software); i assume the internet restrictions targeted streaming platforms w the dub on it (because the government wants to CONTROL what media people consume) so they had to figure everything out from japanese or another language, (they probably used another fandub to translate since the ed seems to credit the eng vas while they can never be heard in the bg) which is not easy. unfortunately english is taught in schools around the world not japanese so the dubbers' translation was quite honestly terrible- after all, they had no official script to base their translation off. BUT if a professional dubbing studio (e.g. iran's glory entertainment) got their hands on kuro, it'd probably be dubbed very well. if mehrdad raissi, CEO of glory, was on for seb's role, it would be glorious (pun intended). if he did flynn rider well, he can do sebs well too. but that studio often has their shows played on state televisions and the last thing they want is to get blacklisted and arrested for dubbing the gay demon butler anime. please do not take this fandub as representing all persian-language dubs. and remember, kuro itself is banned for being problematic media in counties like iran... no sebaciel needed (although anyone can definitely see the gay undertones to the story from a cover alone).

if you want to ban people from shipping things or making fan works that are problematic... soon you'll have to get rid of problematic media in general. and already, antis sound like the media people in charge under a dictatorship. "violence is okay, murder is okay but s-sex?!? women in scandalous clothing!!! oh good heavens..!" this is the kind of mindset which leads people down the rabbit hole of "this is problematic!! let's ban it!!!" until there's nothing left, a slippery slope. imagine this was the english dub of kuro. imagine it was banned in western countries and a team of young'uns had to gang up and make their own dub using only the japanese raws. imagine problematic media like kuro wasn't picked up the west because it's "shota" and that's bad. we'd be stuck looking at the same sanitised stuff and if we wanted to watch kuro, our options would be trash dubs (no offense) like this one. pretty scary to think this could be the state of the english dub if puritanism was as bad here as it is in countries like iran. policing media and deciding what creators should or shouldn't create will take you to the side of theocratic dictatorships and you will fall into alt right puritan lunacy, fanpoll are about as woke as a dictatorship, remember that.

it is clear that conditional freedom is no freedom at all. there should be zero criteria to the media we want to create, no religion or purity culture to it. just be media literate. let nobody control what you want to create or consume! (or you'll end up in a world where the media that is deemed "problematic" is maintained but only through underground circles, losing quality and accessibility day by day, until these channels are shut down too and only a sanitised husk of options for media consumption remain)

i made them both seniors @ the school! they dont actually know each other initially for most of highschool bc of different vibes/interests but in senior year they finally start talking. morro is wu's oldest student, but he doesnt care for the ninja because he was the original green ninja and the position got taken from him bc he wasnt responsible enough, and then given to lloyd. so hes a little bitter & doesnt like lloyd very much, but he spends all his free time training to become strong enough to take the green ninja hood back.

echo is actually zanes OLDER brother. they are so similar looking theyre usually asked if theyre twins, which, well, yk, but they just say zane is the younger brother because he was created after. echo was juliens first tryst into making a humanoid robot, so while he is very advanced, hes a bit outdated in comparison to the model made after, which is zane. echos had more time to acclimate to acting human than zane has, but hes kind of in his edgy phase right now because hes jealous of his younger sibling getting all the attention of their father.

Hello! So this question is a little different from the ones you usually get, so I completely understand if this doesn't fit the scope of the blog.

I haven't put out any of my writing before bc its usually deeply personal and im not generally looking for a critique. I do however want to start and I was thinking of doing that through reviewing movies and shows I watch. I want to post some reviews of popular films from my home country through a feminist lens but im worried that when I promote it on different subreddits im going to receive misogynist backlash and hate for my marginalized religious identity. I can't think of any other way to curate an audience. Do you have any advice on curating an audience that would suit my content and/or to deal with the hate I could potentially get?

Worried About Backlash When Curating an Audience

Some things to consider...

1 - There will always be critics, no matter who you are and what you write. If you can't handle criticism, putting yourself out there as a creative may not be for you. Criticism is part and parcel with putting your work out, whether it's novels, music, art, movie reviews, OpEds, or any other sort of creative work. There will always be people who disagree, always be people who don't like what you said, always be people who don't like you and want to tear you down. Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice is often considered one of the most beloved novels of all time. It has a whopping 4 million reviews on Goodreads, and 2.2 million of those reviews are 5-stars. However, almost 100,000 people hated it so much they 1-starred it, with some of the critical keywords being things like insipid, overrated, boring, one-dimensional, and anti-feminist. Some of these reviews attack Jane herself... a woman who died over 200 years ago. The point is, no amount of audience creation will shield you from criticism, unless you choose to share your work only with a small, trusted audience.

2 - Consumer commentary isn't a good place for feedback. It's futile to argue that nothing can be gleaned from what people like or dislike about your writing. However, consumer commentary isn't really there for you. Even if it's directed at you, it's really just there for other consumers. People are letting others know, "Hey, I really enjoyed this or I agreed with what was said." If you can read through reviews and commentary without taking it to heart and without responding, if a lot of people are liking and disliking the same things, sure--you can definitely take that and grow from it. Most of the time, though, it's better to just avoid reading the commentary. If you want feedback on your writing, seek it out from critique partners, alpha and beta readers, trusted mentors, and paid services.

3 - Start small, work you're way up. Reddit probably isn't a really good place to start if you want to curate an audience, especially if you want to avoid attracting lots of attention from people who are only interested in tearing you down. Instead, I would suggest something like tumblr, and maybe even bolstering that with activity on something like Instagram and tiktok. Ultimately, most of either platform will be other content related to movies and TV, but now and then you'll post your review (or a link to it wherever it is) and hopefully get a little crossover. The thing to remember is it takes a long time to build up an audience. You're going to feel like you're shouting into the void for a long time, but if you stay active, keep with it, and post good content, the audience will build up over time.

No actually. From what I can tell, the problems with MCU started and cemented themselves with Age of Ultron. 75% of what we hate about phase 4 is because of this movie. The other 15% is from a mixture of other things, including the The Dark World, which although one of my favorite movies, it kind of broke something in MCU permenatly.

Also genuinely, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but why is everyone so angry with me for talking about problems in Ragnarok recently? I've done this for as long as I've had a Tumblr. I get that anti Ragnarok people can be really really annoying if you like the movie. Sometimes it's annoying even if you dont. But I talk about good things, too? I love Ragnarok. It is an amazing movie. I've seen many times which is really rare for me (I usually see most movies like 2 times). But it is........ Not a good sequel and that's where my complaints lie.

He does asks you if you would like to join him into his training sections at the dojo, he's way more comfortable in there and he swears is not as stinky as their gym after Raph uses it, really looks forward to the day you accept his invitation into teaching you some self defense moves here and there

Ok you didnt mention this like...he loves how you always reply REALLY FAST!! like at first he's taken back cuz? usually april or casey take a few good minutes even hours to respond, humans have their things to do on topside and he gets it you know? he's also relatively busy most days, so when he almost automatically gets a reply from you, Leo def got surprised on the first chats he had with you, he begins to love it how fast you can come back to him with texting, he doesnt have to worry if you are in danger after escorting you to your home, or when you are leaving college, work, yadda yadda, he knows its not extremely healthy to be on your phone 24/7 but when you are away from him, he loves it he can have almost imidiate contact with you

Over-all: Really chill relationship but still has some fire into it??? at the same time?? both of you just gets eachother, and he feels free to show his funny, daring, flirty / teasing self he almost NEVER shows to anyone, so lucky you!

The 'TASM is good, actually' revisionism is wild bc I get personal preference and maybe people over-hating it at the time, and Andrew is great and his Peter/Spider-Man is probably closest to the comics, but there are so many obvious problems in terms of writing, pacing, the film being cut up into whatever the final print was, etc.; most bizarrely, I keep seeing discussions and polls lately about how the Lizard in the film is the best adaptation of him ever in terms of both the writing and design, and it's like, really? The version that cut almost everything important about him from the source material? And why are we saying that design is great and iconic now and that all other Lizard designs are bad bc a snout is unrealistic?

people defending that design is actually insane lmao. I saw it with a friend who’s never seen TASM before, and every time he was on screen for longer than 1 second they would say out loud “it’s so bad”/“he’s so gross”, with virtually no anti TASM lizard design propaganda from me… it was just the natural reaction lmao

But yeah the “TASM is good actually” is rough. Like out of all the Spider-Man movies it probably ranks in the middle. I do genuinely think that if just a few things were changed you could make it into a better movie, but in its current state it’s rough. Also just to add to what you’ve already said about some of the movies issues; the score sucks, and I never really feel like I can usually say this about a movie because im not a music person, but like I think it’s bad??? There’s one bit that always sticks out to me especially (that im pretty sure they use multiple times, or there’s another song on the score that sounds similar) that sounds like shitty like royalty free quirky sitcom music, and it plays around the end of when Peter first goes to Oscorp. There’s also this odd thing where after Captain Stacy is introduced Aunt May almost completely disappears from the movie until he dies lmao. idk its just really weird to me like Peter can only have 1 ☝️ “good influence” adult in his life at a time haha (i know this is a part of the issue of how the movie is written/paced i just wanted to say it)

I have a LOT of Kaoru angst headcanons bc I'm a sucker for angst and projection sorry i am cringe but i am free.

So. I will try not to be VERY in depth about them all but I have a big hc that Kaoru has untreated/undiagnosed severe depression that plays into his self-worth issues. He's not actively suicidal but he is passively. like. if i die then that's ok. lol. and maybe he thinks about it sometimes but he'd never do anything if only bc he doesn't want to hurt hikaru. I do have a whole thread I update every now and then talking abt this concept. but the main parts really are. he's super depressed and has no clue how to express this bc he's stuck between being horrible at communicating + not wanting to worry anybody/being a burden so he ends up expressing them thru very cryptic metaphors and then nobody knows what he's saying. hence the carriage thing. (this is me coping with bad writing/hj).

When he's in his depression swings he tends to be very anti social. He doesn't want to eat doesn't want to talk. call him 12 cuz he dozen do anything. he just reads all day bc it's the quickest and easiest way to block out the world. however not moving and not eating makes his depression WORSE and this can really concern hikaru who quickly notices this behavior. thankfully he ends up forcing kaoru to take care of himself which pisses kaoru off for a few minutes until he starts feeling better.

During these episodes also he has a tendency to try and isolate himself from everyone, again bc of the whole self-worth issues. It gets so bad during these moments he thinks he genuinely either is making everyone's lives actively worse or he simply doesn't deserve people so he just tries to cut them off. luckily this never works especially with people like Tamaki or Hikaru because 1. Hikaru would NEVER give up on him ever and 2. Tamaki is the most persistent stubborn man in the world he would never leave Kaoru.

He gets nightmares a lot esp during these depression episodes and he tends not to tell Hikaru about them bc they're always really morbid either about everyone leaving him/him offing himself and he doesn't want Hikaru to worry. Hikaru can always tell something is wrong tho and stick closer to him that day.

Also, when he's upset, Hikaru does everything in the world to try and cheer him up. Try to make him laugh usually. Since Kaoru doesn't like talking about his issues, Hikaru tries his best to make him forget about them. Obviously he'll offer to watch Cinderella with him which if Kaoru refuses then he knows he's REALLY not doing well and then he panics and calls Haruhi for help.

Actually nice segue into the next thing. I assume you mean cinderella HCs relating to Kaoru and not. the actual cinderella property. Which i do sadly have a few headcanons for (i Stockholm syndrome'd myself into liking it) but I'm doing the former since that's what I think you meant.

Kaoru's favorite Cinderella movie is the original disney version, English. He enjoys the Japanese one too but he prefers the original. He says on a objective level the 3rd movie is the best, but the first is his personal favorite. He likes the critically panned 2nd movie and acknowledges it's not that great, but it's still fun and has nice stories and messages.

He has watched nearly all the live action adaptations of the Cinderella fairytale and thinks they're all enjoyable in some way, even if that way is being laughably bad. His favorite character in Cinderella besides Cinderella herself is Gus. he had a crush on the Prince when he was a little kid and a similar but lesser crush on Cinderella herself (bi rights). He can recite all the songs from memory and knows soooo many dumb fun facts. He loves the Cinderella GBA game and has beaten it many times. Him and Hikaru have long arguments over that game because Kaoru thinks it's good and Hikaru thinks it sucks for different reasons (this headcanon is born from the fact I myself have very conflicting opinions on that game that were SO opposite from each other the only way I could adequately express them to my friend was to stage it as an argument between Hikaru and Kaoru I'm not even joking I wish I was.)

The reason he loves Cinderella so much is kinda interesting. When he was a little boy and just learning how to read, a fairytale book in their huge at-home library caught his eye. One of the fairytales in it was Cinderella. He remembered really loving the illustrations, but the issue is, the book was all in English. He was just starting to learn Japanese, let alone English. Determined though, he found an English to Japanese dictionary and translated the whole thing. It took him all day to read that small fairytale and while Hikaru wasn't really paying attention they were inseparable so he just stuck by as Kaoru tried to read this. I guess the amount of effort and pretty illustrations made an impact on his little autistic brain and so he became enamored with the fairy tale. He watched the movie in Japanese and then later in English to help him learn English. The Cinderella movies in English actually really helped him learn the language faster funnily.

Hikaru, while supportive in his cinderella special interest, pokes fun at him for it a lot and soooometimes can get really sick of hearing about it all. the. time. He loves his brother to death but man. just. sometimes he wishes there was a mute button. He lets him ramble usually tho and he finds it silly if not a little endearing most of the time. one time Kaoru found out Renge was a big fairy tale fan and she also liked Cinderella (a normal amount, not like he does) but still they struck up a veeeery long and complex conversation about it that Hikaru was lost in during the first 10 seconds and so he sat with Mori that whole time bc Mori is silent and he just...needed the silence right then and there...

during their birthday one year Hikaru (as a joke) got some Cinderella decorations which embarrassed Kaoru but made him incredibly happy. During the small party Kyoya noted that they had a "Lucifer" plush on the shelf (the cat from cinderella) which prompted Kaoru to go on a 20 minute ramble about how it's actually a rare 1999 run of the plush that he acquired at an auction and he told the whole history of its production line. Kyoya had. a lot to write in his book that day.

ALSO whenever hikaru pisses haruhi off. she goes and buys a discount bluray of a cinderella movies and gives it to kaoru as a gift. bc she KNOWS he will excitedly run home and go "look what haruhi bought for me let's watch it right now!!" and hikaru will have to sit through cinderella once again. and everytime. hikaru knows haruhi is doing this to piss him off. so he makes it a point to act cheerful about it and make kaoru think he's enjoying himself because He Will Not Let Haurhi Win.

Do you decorate for the holidays? This has been the first year that I got a little christmas tree for my apartment, it makes waking up in the dark mornings a lot easier

Favourite holiday movie? I love the grinch and elf, and i count edward scissorhands as a christmas movie and usually my family will watch one of the harry potter movies lets throw in a dog named christmas, just for fun

Favourite holiday fanfic? Yesterday i would have said I dont know any holiday fics, but luckily @gallavichfanficlibrary pulled together a rec list of holiday fics so, all of those !

If you were to star in a Hallmark movie, who would be your love interest? since i have the saltburn disease rn i would say barry keoghan bc we have the same slightly off putting energy

Where would it take place? it would be hilarious to set it somewhere like arizona right? but no one in the world does christmas quite like right here in nyc so that would be my final answer
